Henry coming home in the Summer? Defender to make debut before season closes.

Arsene Wenger has suggested that four players could be back for the fixture against Liverpool on Sunday.

Johan Djourou and Wojciech Szczesny were last seen during cup ties against Manchester United and Barcelona respectively but they both face fitness tests ahead of Sunday.

Alex Song and Denilson could also be back in time but both Sagna and Almunia remain doubtful.

We have no [new injuries] but we have a big doubt on Sagna, Djourou and Wojciech are question marks. Will they be fit? That all has still to be decided. We have two more days to find out. It could be a possibility that they could be available.

It’s difficult to say [what their chances are]. We have a test today [Thursday], we have a big test to see how they survive the training session. That will be very important.

Denilson and Song have a chance to be available as well.

Thomas Vermaelen may yet make his 2011 debut, he is not in contention for the weekend but Wenger is not ruling him out for a return before the end of this domestic campaign:

I am not reluctant to use him but he is not match fit yet, he just joined the team this week so we have to be a bit patient with him.

So good news on the injury front, all we need is Sagna back and if Thomas Vermaelen makes an appearance again, it will be like having a ‘New Signing’ – good thing is though, if Wenger uses that terminology this season, he can’t for the next can he?

That means – No excuse in the transfer window Arsene, go get us a quality Centre Half please… 😉

Talking of the summer, we are in talks with the New York Red Bulls having invited them to participate in our pre-season Emirates Cup a fixture which would mean an emotional return for Thierry Henry.

The  MLS season is closed whilst The Emirates Cup takes place between so they should be able to take part and if they accept the offer, Thierry Henry will be coming home. It may only be for a few days but it will be great to see him back where he belongs.

Talking American, Stan Kroenke and Arsene Wenger met up yesterday after the renaming of two bridges outside the ground in honour of Ken Friar and the late Danny Fiszman.

Wenger wouldn’t talk too much about what was said between the two of them he just wanted to reiterate what his soul focus is right now:

I am aware of the offer but you will appreciate that the Takeover is subject to various rules and as much I can’t comment further.

I think I have a responsibility to bring success to the team, to be consistent at the top and to manage the club well. For me it is important as well that everybody inside the Club does what they are responsible for.

My focus will be on ensuring the team has a successful run in to the end to the season. We have a lot to play for.

Fair enough leave all that to someone else, we still have the Premier League to play for.

In fact we have just seven games left. Each and every one of those fixtures need a focussed Arsenal side turning out for our club, no room for slack, no room for lethargy.

Fight, spirit and the right attitude, coupled with the passion and desire to play for the red and white that is Arsenal is what’s needed!

Nothing less…

That’s it for today, have a good one….

    Morning Rico,

    Good Post.

Interesting times with the unfortunate death of Danny Fiszman leading to a change in the club’s ownership, and all that might mean, as well as coming to the climax of the season.

It is critical that we win on Sunday, so there is much nail biting going on at the moment.

Morning RA, long time etc, I thought you had left the blog world its been so long 😉

Sunday is do or die in my view, if we don’t win i think its a too bigger gap to between us and the mancs…

    Fantastic entry.

I am looking forward to this summer and see is Stan wants to make an impact.

Do you think Henry will be able to score against us?

I really don’t see us getting a new centre half.

  4. Joaquim Moreira says:

is a good and a complete center forward. There are many clubs interesting in him but he has contract with Porto for at least one more year. I think contract clause is arround 30 millions.
    yesterday, scored onde more goal.
Chelsea is interesting in Mata (Valência)

Here is the first defender in then 😉

Skysports.com understands Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign highly-rated Charlton youngster Carl Jenkinson.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is believed to have beaten off interest from a number of other Premier League clubs to lure the full-back to North London.
    Live on Sky Sports

Jenkinson is set to arrive at Emirates Stadium on a free transfer after turning down a new deal with the Addicks.

Charlton would be due a compensation fee for Jenkinson with the 19-year-old having come through the ranks at the Valley.

The talented teenager has broken into the Charlton side this season and his performances have alerted a host of admirers.

However, Arsenal have stolen a march on their rivals by agreeing a long-term deal with Jenkinson.

Jenkinson, who has played for England at youth level, has recently switched his international allegiances to Finland on account of his Finnish mother.

TV, JD, Kos, Bartley, Jenkinson, Miquel and Squilli…

    Mme… I don’t think we will be buying a CH anymore…..

Hola, rico. Seven matches to win!! It would be nice to see Henry back. 😉

    And our first signing, too!!

  8. Will says:

Seriously, I don’t think we are going to see the centre half we all know we need. I also don’t think we will see a dedicated defensive midfielder either.

I am hoping though that we will see the last of Almunia, Denilson, Rosicky and Nik B.

  9. rico says:

Smalling was the same age i think when the mancs signed him – at least we get our 19 year old for free 😛

  10. agirlagunner says:

I’m amazed you manage to write even on sloooow news days, rico. 🙂 Ah, for the love of all things AFC. 😉

Will, unless Diaby has a spectacular season ender, I want him out, too. Talented, yes. But loses his head/lets his spirit drop all too often.

  11. agirlagunner says:

🙂 rico, AFC is your lot in life. 🙂

Oh and Diaby has much to atone for… I blame him for the Newcastle debacle (among other things) 😉

  12. rico says:

I wished he had a brain that would work with his feet Will, that would be a start…

He did for fifteen mins against Blackpool, what happens when he plays against the bigger teams… Just like so many others, we need to send out a search party as he goes missing…..

    He’s too petulant…. as well as being a crock…
