Hayden Wants CDM Role. Injuries Hit Hard Again With Six More Set To Miss Tomorrows Game….

Morning all.

Losing Jack for three months is awful and the news about Mikel Arteta is even worse. He’s our one and only player who brings a bit of organisation to the midfield. As Wath said, if only he was younger eh… Right now, Arsene Wenger needs to be drilling into the footballing brain of Flamini, making sure he stops being an impersonator of a French Policeman, and starts being a player who can sit back, rule the midfield and protect our back five…

Seriously, someone has to sit in, dig deep and keep the shape in our midfield. Knowing Arsene Wenger, he’ll take Nacho out of defence to make way for Koscielny and play him there. Actually, would that be as bad as it sounds? Apart from his lack of height, our Spaniard has done a decent job playing centre-back. Another option of course would be to play Bellerin at right-back and push Chambers into the centre of midfield.

Jack Wilshere seems to have grown into that role for England and perhaps he could have been our saviour but he’s out as previously said.

Why? Well that’s all because a Man Utd payer did him good and proper!

Ok, many fans talk about the way Jack plays and how invites a tackle on him etc etc etc, but come on, a studs up tackle in any circumstance is disgraceful. It’s brutal and how any payer can do such a thing to a fellow footballer beggars belief, but they do and what sickens me more, is that clubs fans laugh about it. Not only that, they celebrate it……

Eduardo, Ramsey, Diaby and now Wilshere again. What did Mike Dean do last Saturday? Nothing, absolutely bloody nothing, not that even a red card for McNair would have changed the outcome. Yes we may have gone on to get three points playing against ten men but Jack would still have gone under the knife.

To add insult to injury, the FA have done nothing in retrospect. They haven’t looked at that dreadful tackle again but if they had, McNair would be serving a three match ban, that’s for sure!

Staying with the Cdm position, don’t know how many of you watched the under 19’s play against Dortmund on Wednesday afternoon but the half-time chat with Isaac Hayden was interesting. What a level headed young man he is. He has one thing on his mind and that’s getting the number four shirt and emulating his footballing hero, Patrick Vieira. Right now he plays in the heart of defence but he says his best position is in midfield. Hayden is currently injured but he’s due back real soon and with Arteta out for a long period of time, surely Arsene Wenger has to start looking a bit deeper into the squad.

The fixtures come thick and fast now. WBA tomorrow and then Southampton on Wednesday and that’s followed by another weekend game, then our final CL group stage match against Galatasary the Tuesday after. It gets worse towards the end of December as on Friday 26th we play Qpr at home in an evening game and then on the 28th, we head across London to play West Ham.

We can’t afford any more injuries but if the manager doesn’t rotate a lot more than he’s done so far this season, we are going to get more.

Not only will Jack and Mikel miss out tomorrow but so will Theo Walcott. Danny Welbeck is also a doubt, as is Szczesny and Sanogo. Koscielny though is fit to start.

As said, Wenger needs to rotate, we need a win, but who’s to be bet we see neither? Tomorrow should see three points in the bag and we carry on from where we left off on Wednesday night.

I’ve just heard the Fairy Of New York on the radio, is Christmas coming?

That’s it from me, have a good day all, and stay away from the shops. I know it’s tempting but it’s a mad world out there…..

I’d be happy to have a few players in the side that would run through a brick wall for the shirt they wearing… It’s what’s lacking in the current squad.

  2. Hell Raising Devil says:

Scott is still in dreamland Rico. He is dreaming that the door to HH has been closed by Rubeus Hagrid after he got in the wrong side of the door to be found in Sydney Opera house. πŸ˜‰

Would like to see Hayden get a chance. Will it be CDM?? I doubt. I will be watching with interest to see what happens if Flamini gets injured.

  3. rico says:

Poor Scott Devil. Kev and Adam can’t get on here either πŸ™

Why not play Hayden at Cdm, if AW doesn’t soon, another club will…

  4. Bt62 Gooner says:

Nice one Rico, heard Hayden on Wednesday, seems pretty level headed, his chance surely must be close once he’s fit. Totally with Wath and i am sure others ref: players who have pride in playing for the shirt….

  5. escapecontrol says:

I wouldn’t mind AW playing one or two of the youngsters. He is already gambling with Monreal in the center of defence. Who knows, maybe Hayden will shock all of us and become really good in CDM.

  6. rico says:

Thanks Bt. Loved listening to him, as you say a very level headed young man who clearly wants himself and a couple of the other young players to keep their feet on the ground and work hard…

At least AW mentioned him re the squad fitness, must mean he’s in his plans..

  7. Bob John says:

The no mark McNair can go down in the history of thuggery alongside Dan Smith, Martin Taylor and Ryan Shawcross. Surely Rosicky has to get some game time soon. Looked decent playing for Czechs last week.

  8. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Morning to The Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

Good post Rico. I agree with Wath, it is time some of the Young Guns were given a chance. Players like Hayden would certainly would certainly put in more effort for the team than some of our walking deadbeat zombie regulars.

  9. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – When it comes to Monsieur Flamoney, I think Inspector Clouseau would be more apt comparison. He is nowhere near as good as he seems to think hes is, is often in the wrong place at the wrong time, is prone to causing confusion and by sheer dumb luck can sometimes save the day.

  10. rico says:

Morning Cg, long time no hear from. All ok I hope?

Thanks re the post. I agree too and tomorrow I hope Bellerin and Campbell both start…

  11. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – Everything is fine here. I have been busy getting the house all weatherproof for the winter; jobs I should have done during the summer, instead of watching the World Cup.

Also, to be honest, I was so angry after the Swansea, Anderlecht and ManUre games I didn’t feel like posting. If I had, you might have banned me for excessive and profuse use of strong ‘industrial language’ and I didn’t want to risk saying something in the heat of the moment that I would regret.

After Wednesday’s game I have got my mojo back and returned to my normal state of calm and serenity (ha ha!).

  12. rico says:

πŸ™‚ Cg – I totally understand re the football. Awful. I hope Dortmund is the start of a good run but….

    When does the snow arrive?

  13. frednerk says:

    Afternoon All,
Hayden can play centre/mid no problem,
but he must have an old head next door to him.
He played in that position when a very young lad,
    he can play.
It may work, his very mature, captain material for sure.

Not sure I like wenger getting to much praise,
    Chicken and egg……………………..rico

  14. allezkev says:

The traffic in Central London is rammed…

I like Hayden, hopefully Wenger will give him a chance as soon as he’s fit…

Hey Fred, what did you make of the Terry Burton comments?

  15. Canadian Gooner says:

Contrary to Rico’s sage advice, I’m off to do some early Xmas shopping. Some stores are opening very early today.

Have a great day everyone and hopefully it is another easy victory tomorrow.

    Keep The Faith!

  16. Wavy says:

got hi-jacked yesterday and couldn’t get on the blog! Was being redirected to the App Store and nothing could be done to stop it! Eventually I ‘cleaned up my history’ and lo, I’m back. God it was boring yesterday!

Today I’m with you Rico and others, give the youngsters a start, some of the oldsters too wouldn’t come amiss! However, it would require wenger to do a little thinking o/s the box! New faces therefore are highly unlikely. A win at West Brom, are they in the bottom four, if they are then we might have a chance if they aren’t we could find ourselves embarrassed yet again!

    Here’s hoping!???

  17. rico says:

    πŸ™‚ Fred..

Wavy, you and a few others struggled..

Kev, I love Christmas, but not all the big deal about shopping, that’s not what it’s about…

  18. Joe says:

Info from untold mike dean has been in charge of three arsenal games when in each game arsenal 2 player has left the field with a broken leg and 1 player jack who had to have surgery.
So how could any team win things with this kind of referring?

  19. Scottfromoz says:

Joe, what sides are allowed to get away with is just criminal.
I know plenty around the globe refuse to use the ridiculously biased officiating we put up with, but the simple fact is it costs us points and/or players every season, and something needs to be done about it.
Morning Rico, good to be back.

  20. Micko says:

Wath, we all wish we were 10 years younger lol.

Scott, good to know you got the all clear mate !

    Blaming referee’s………….zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  21. Joe says:

    Micko
I thought you would be watching the late late toy show.
But just for fun could you imagine how other teams would manage over the years with players suffering the amount of broken legs and needing surgery after games.

  22. Joe says:

Scott don’t you know it all evens out over a season and they get away with it because fans still believe that I mean look at Micko’s reply.

  23. scottfromoz says:

Joe/Micko, I see both sides of the argument, as Arsenal probably shoot themselves on the foot more than any amount of officials do, but it still needs to be addressed.

  24. rico says:

    Morning all..

I think the standard of officiating in the PL is awful but I don’t blame the referee’s for Jacks injury, I blame the player, the thug that is McNair who went into Jacks ankle studs up..

Dean can’t be blamed for that, but he can be blamed for not sending McNair off and the FA for not reviewing it.

  25. allezkev says:

Seems as if Wenger is set to continue with Monreal as his ‘3rd’ centre-back…

    Therefore I guess he’s after a def/mid in January and will end up signing a goalkeeper… πŸ™„

  26. Joe says:

Rico it’s an Irish institution every year we get a toy show and Christmas fun on tv.
On who’s fault it is players will play the way they know they can get away with the likes of Dean will let them put Arsenal players in hospital and not even give a free kick.
If they got punished like they should they wouldn’t be making tackles that break Arsenal players legs.

  27. rico says:

Fair enough Joe. I didn’t know that..

I still blame the offender, a thug doesn’t change just because he knows he’ll get a punishment… Don’t get me wrong though, the refs in England are dreadful….

  28. Joe says:

If you look at the amount of serious impact injuries we suffer that no other PL team does.
Is it because they make tackles against Arsenal they don’t against other teams because they know they can get away with more against us.
