Has Ivan whispered sweet somethings to Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan?

Morning all.

It’s been said before and it’ll be said again. Last nights performance was one of the worst. Not only that, the attitude and approach to the game. Clearly, Wenger and his players, well, a lot of them, learned nothing from Swansea’s defeat of Liverpool.

The performance, the result. Two things which added to what has gone by over the last years, should be enough for the Arsenal board to react. We as a club are going nowhere under Arsene Wenger. Certainly not upwards.

The club are about to shell out a record amount of money on an attacking player, a top one I hasten to add, yet still Wenger has a group of defensive players who can’t defend for toffee. Why? Because he doesn’t bloody well do defending. Also, he’s too darn stubborn to allow someone else to do so. Reading that Steve Bould was denied time to work on the defence by Wenger and Primorac smacks of one man, backed up by his mate, having such a big ego, he doesn’t want credit to be given to anyone else should Bould improve us. Did no one ever tell Wenger that there’s no ‘I’ in team? It’s all about Wenger yet he wasn’t shy to lump the blame on the players after the defeat was he? Players who he signs and coaches!

His philosophy is to attack and blow the consequences it seems, but even his attacking style has lost its way. It did a long time ago.

I get it, we need something different up front and we certainly need more goals but all the time we concede them for fun, what’s the point? As said before, most of our players are seasoned international players, players who when away with their respective countries, so often play well yet stick them in an Arsenal shirt and they look like rabbits in headlights. There’s no leadership, cohesion, or discipline in the way they defend. Even Petr Cech looked a bundle of nerves last night and this is a guy who has won many things in his career.

As Mark Schwarzer wrote in his article which I posted on here a couple of days ago, even the best of keepers will struggle if they have a terrible defensive unit in front of them. We often say that we’ve not had a great keeper since Mad Jens and as much as that might hold some truth, the reality is, we’ve not had a great/organised defence since that day either. It’s nothing other than dreadful negligence from Arsene Wenger.

3-1 flattered us because every time Swansea pushed forward we looked like we could so easily concede and that’s no exaggeration.

Well hear all the bollox about coming back in our next game, working on our mistakes etc etc etc but that’s all it is, bollox. Wenger won’t do anything to improve the way we defend because he hasn’t a clue how to.

This summer is massive for Arsenal imo. Wenger needs to walk away and I think he will, I really do because no one will convince me that a player like Aubameyang would sign up to be part of this Arsene Wenger circus. Ivan has surely whispered the promise of a new Arsenal manager in his ear? Same with Mkhitaryan, he had a chance to refuse being involved in the Sanchez swap deal knowing full well he held all the cards.

With a bit of luck, there’s just four months of this mess to go because our club is a sleeping giant. It’s just waiting for the right manager with a new coaching team to wake it from its slumber…

I admire your tenacity with writing this blog every day. It must get boring having to think up of new ways to describe the same situation.

I’m with you. Wenger is off in the summer and really, he should be sacked now (actually about 7 years ago). Let Bouldy take over now or Ancelotti to see if he can right the ship. I expect that you will see that Aubameyang will start out on fire and then fade away after about 3 weeks.

We are in for a very poor February. I expect us to roll over Everton as we are at home, but after that…..Well, let’s say that you should re-write this blog post in different ways, so that you don’t have to later on.

  2. rico says:

    Thanks Begeegs.

Who’d bet against Theo bagging a couple against us. Big Sam will defend and Walcott will hit us on the break…

  3. Goonster says:

You can’t polish a turd Rico. He’s washed up. The annoying part is everyone sees it except him. Look am beginning to hate this man that I can physically hurt him. The whole positive vibe I had yesterday for the club is gone. Yet this cnut still has a job!!! We can’t defend for shit. Our passing was off and lethargic. I was shocked to see some fools on arsenal.com throw jibes at lacasette. The poor bastard barely had any service at all. He must be kicking himself for choosing arsenal cause fekir is having an unbelievable season. Am sure deep down he wished he had stayed back at Lyon.

  4. rico says:

I know Goonster but I will always do my best not to insult Wenger, certainly publicly but I despise the man for what he’s doing to our club, the players and especially the fans…

Smudger just said on SS’s that Wenger seems to be no longer in charge of who signs for us which to me can only mean Wenger is going. Sven knows what he’s doing I guess and what new manager, if he arrives, would not want Auba..

I still don’t believe our squad is a bad one, in fact the opposite but they just need a plan, one which imo, Wenger doesn’t have.

  5. Goonster says:

Rico I want to believe you. I want to seriously believe you but we ‘ve been here before. He ‘ll win the EFL cup and maybe Europa league too and ‘ll sign a new contract. He won’t leave Rico not without force. Who ‘ll walk away from a 10m quid job on his own. They won’t sack him so we ‘re stuck with him. Am sorry Rico but I don’t see him going anywhere this season. He ‘ll see out his current deal then maybe sign a new one.

  6. Adam says:

I agree Rico. Not one single player came out of last night with a shred of credit. I do wonder, when Wenger looks at what a car wreck we have become, where he thinks the problems lie. Does he never think it might be him? This is his team, bought by him, trained by him to the millisecond apparently (more bullshit), on his stupid diets, motivated by him. FFS can’t he see what’s happening? How can he believe that he is still the right man when he looks at our results and who we have blown out too. As he is constantly reminding us, this is top level sport not some sort of early retirement jaunt for him. Go, with a little bit of dignity for gawds sake. We’ll have to make do without you.

  7. Le Coq Monster says:

    Morning all and thanks Rico.

Swansea, Bournemouth, Forest, Watford, Stoke………………..has their been a worse season under Wenger of losing to shit teams ?

Get PEA and it will be a good TW………………….add a DM and it will be a great one !…………………………swap Wenger for Pep and it will be an out of this world one !…………………………….I`m currently eating some Cadbury`s Fruit and Nut !.

Disagree with you Goonster, you can Polish a Turd……………………………

  8. Goonster says:

I ‘ll say i told you so when he does ma’am. Am sick of seeing him. I hate everything about him. His accent, his taut expressionless face and most of all his prick face. Men I hate that guy. Morning Adam. Sad day huh?

  9. Goonster says:

Ozil about to sign a new contract. Whoop di doo. Normally that ‘ll make me leap out of my skin but this old French twat has sucked the life out of me. Wenger please just go. Please you ‘re ruining my life. God in heaven somebody put me out of my misery.

  10. Goonster says:

Rico I ‘ll take Alex song over any other midfielder we currently have. Atleast he can pick a pass. He might not be a spring chicken no more but if I have to choose between him xhaka Rambo and elneny…i ‘ll choose him.

  11. Le Coq Monster says:

Song had his chance, no going back imo………………….who are the top DM`s in the world who are not already with a bigger (richer) club than our`s ?

  12. Le Coq Monster says:

I`m still scratching my head at the Gabriel sale, I thought he was a throw back to what we needed…….

Also, it`s confusing to how Wenger went from have a great defensive shield in Gilberto and Paddy to now not giving a shit and just atttack attack attack !……………………………one gave us trophies and now we are basically shit !

  13. rico says:

Doesn’t that show how desperate we are goonie?

I’m sure there are plenty out there who would improve our midfield Lc, and some probably wouldn’t break the bank but as always, it’s too late in the day I reckon.

What we need is a midfielder who knows the game, one who can think for himself and know what his role is because there’s naff all chance Wenger will tell a midfielder to defend.

  14. andrewh1313 says:

Morning rico, all. Some reason it seems an anti-climax when we should be celebrating the fact we have signed a goal scorer. Oh how we needed an out and out striker some years back with the chances we were making. But we were burnt after Francis Jeffers, lol. But like so many signings, so drawn out over weeks and losing Giroud I’m not happy with. If only we could back it up with the DM/CB that everyone here knows is vital.

  15. rico says:

Morning Andrew, I was just thinking similar.

Club record signing and who gives a toot really? We know he’ll get goals, but all the time we can’t defend, what’s the point…?

  16. Andrew Halling says:

Chuckled at a couple of tweets:

‘Wenger will probably put him in goal’

‘If Wenger is still at the helm, we are doomed – if he trained a fish, it would drown’

    😉

  17. BT62 Gooner says:

    Gospel Rico..before tax as well…

Hopefully he’ll have enough left over to buy a pacifier and stop sucking his thumb.

  18. rico says:

Seen it Bt. That’s funny but in his current form, I think it’s great he’s signing on. Just wish we had a stronger crop behind him..

  19. potter says:

Maximilian “Max” Meyer is a German professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or forward for Schalke 04.

Just what we need at the moment another forward thinking midfielder. I suppose we are going for the you score 3 we ‘ll get 4 hopefully style of play.

Had a telephone line down last night so I missed the fun and games in Swansea , Lucky in some ways I guess.

  20. potter says:

McGuane can play out wide, or even in defence, but his favoured role is in the heart of midfield.

Strong, powerful and athletic, he protects the back four but can go from box to box and has started to add goals to his game, as he showed for the U23s against Everton last year.
    International recognition

Having previously represented the Republic of Ireland at under-17 level, McGuane has since gone on to play for England’s under-18 team.

What has Wenger said about him?

The Arsenal boss has always been impressed by the versatility McGuane possesses.

Talking about the teenager, Wenger said: “McGuane is a defensive midfielder, he can play wing-back or even centre-back. In training sometimes he plays with us at centre-back.”

So what do we do with this home grown talent ??????????????? SELL HIM TO BARCELONA.

  21. frednerk says:

    Afternoon Rico and All

Spot on Potter.I thought that lad had a
bit more than some of the others given
    chances.
    September….most Gooner’s I know predicted
this January would be a weston-super-mare.
    Set up,preparation and the half-time gee-up,
it’s anyone’s guess what could happen.
The players just look at each other in disbelief,
    when things go wrong with,
    Help,Help,Help..written all other their face’s.

  22. Le Coq Monster says:

What we really need is a couple of Italian defenders, it`s in their DNA to be defenders, Baressi, Gentile, Costacurta, Canivarro, Maldini, ………we needs players like that, defenders who will slap you with their mothers face if you even think about attacking beyond the half way line and what would make it easier if Wenger retired hurt, becuase he knows nothing about defending !
I can dig my grannie up and she would be a better coach of defenders than Wenger or if thats too messy then I can either go through a psychic or go to Toys”R” Us and get a cheap Quija Board and translate what defensive formations and tactics we should play, just say the word !………………………….is there anybody there ?

  23. Wavy says:

    As our new manager, Lee?
I’d go with that, in fact I’d even consider Pardew, ummm maybe not!
One thing is certain we are crying for a change of management and a redirection of coaching, tactics and motivation. In every aspect of ‘intervention’ and ‘direction’ our super squad is lacking, and that is all down to the man currently in charge.
On reflection, I think even Faye Whire would do a good job, if she were available!

New players? New re-signings? What difference will it make? We won’t see Auba until he’s learned “the arsenal way” still Lacazette will be happy because he at least will play the last 30 minutes of most games, coming on to replace PEA after 62.30 minutes every game! That’s the Arsene way!!! Fckuing hell every week has become a bore fest.

    Alackaday, alackaday, alackaday!

  24. Lee says:

Sorry I meant as a player…….but player manager would be better if that resulted in Le washed up one being shipped out!

  25. frednerk says:

Since I stopped playing darts my
maths may have gone a bit Pete Tong..
But..Have we spent any money overall
    on coming’ and goings?

  26. rico says:

So much for a Pep just throwing money around. He’s walked away from the Mahrez deal, just as he did Sanchez because he’s too expensive…

  27. frednerk says:

    Out
    Quiff-18m…Oxo-34m..Wallnut-20m..The Cock-13m..Szczesny-11m..Paulista-10m..Gibbs-7m….=113m

    In
    Auba-57m…Lacazette-47m…Mavropanos-2m..=106m.

    Is this about right..Rico

  28. Alex says:

    Good afternoon Rico…..

    3 – 1 defeat to Swansey

    Auba signs for record fee

    Ozil signing extending his contract

    Giroud to Chelsea

All this in less than 24 hours

I am just confused and i do not know what to make of all this

  29. Le Coq Monster says:

Fred…………..Not forgetting, Debauchery has gone for free ( so free`s up wages), Bielik out on loan, Chuba out on loan, Jeff out on loan, who make quite an exodus with the current out on loan players !…………………..lots of wages freed up for Mesut and PEA !…………………………probably spent nothing if you take that we were £30M up from the Summer TW !………………………………….Wenger has worked his economic magic again and Syrup will be pleased !………………………getting to work any magic on the pitch is a completely different story though and a shame that Syrup doesn`t understand or care as long as the club are self sufficient !.

With all their attacking might, Mansour City still break records for signing defensive players !……………………………..Wenger buys attackers and forgets we need to be hard to beat…………………………a fatal flaw in Wenger`s philosophy and is why we continue to lose to shit teams who are better organised and disciplined .

Like Rico has continuously been saying ……….we have a very good squad, but lack a manager of current expertise to move us forward to our true potential.

  30. Kk says:

    Evening rico and all..

Last night dross was yet another chapter of wengers serial bollox
I don’t know what or how long it’s going to take for someone to put him out of his misery.

Hopefully the changes we are witnessing are just the start of more to come.
Staring with a new manager and coaching staff.

  31. Kk says:

I don’t know what with the all sudden media love with giroud.
He was decent in his first couple of seasons but has been in really poor form fir us ..I just don’t get it..

yes he scored few crackers, and flicked some cute balls, but for a big guy he was so weak in holding play and falls off his ass with the slightest contact. .
Over all he didnt get the service that suits his game, because we can’t cross the effing ball to safe our lives..

  32. rico says:

Evening Kk, my thoughts exactly. I wouldn’t have sold him to Chelsea but it’s funny how those who criticised him in the media now reckon Chelsea have a great player…

  33. Kk says:

Wenger brought him on last night shows how desperate he has become.
His excuse was that giroud wanted to help the team in his last game!!
it was not even a tactical change in principle. .it was just put him on and hope it pays off. .
Unbelievable to treat a club playing competitive game like a kindergarten birthday party.

  34. Kk says:

Agree rico, nothing make sense at all..

Walcott 2 goals already ..he is on a hatrick. .
    Who’d have thought it??

  35. Goonster says:

You and me both Rico. We ‘ll regret slagging him off all those years ago. Said it once will say it again. A better manager and he might have been the guy to break titi’s goal scoring record. We bought him st 16 ffs. He played 12 years with us. 20 goals a season and in 12 season he ll be on 240!!! Shame.

  36. Kel says:

So is the transfer activity over then… no sign of any defensive reinforcements.

don’t know how to feel about this spurs v utd game lol maybe a few hamstrings would cheer me up.?

  37. Goonster says:

Hahahahahah just saw this on a lifestream “United are winning this game…sanchez is a good left back “?????bantz!!! COYGS

  38. Kel says:

add Sanchez to that Rico and I’ll crack a smile… ?

he was literally playing left back in the first half goonster lol…

  39. Goonster says:

Kel Maureen packing the bus again ain’t he??? Omg am loving this. I hope he goes on a long barren run. A goal in 17 games. That ‘ll make my year.

  40. Kel says:

lol… mourhino just hooked off fellani 8 mins after putting him on…

Sanchez has been ineffective so far tonight.. ?

  41. Goonster says:

Kel I was laughing my ass off. Sideshow Bob looked like he had just seen a ghost when Maureen yanked him off. What a turd. Hahahaha am loving this guys.

  42. Joaquim Moreira says:

Totts plays much better then us.
With 3 touches the ball goes from one side to the other.
They play forward. Not to the side.
In relation to the game of yesterday: With that state of the field it was a suicide to be playing in the grass in short passes. Only those who defend will benefit. Giroud was late.
AW returns to lose with the Portuguese coach ….
Giroud removes us height in the area, shock power and “aerial” alternative when it is needed. I wish I had stayed.
The squad is in its entirety, more unbalanced. It’s my opinion.

  43. Goonster says:

JM you just spoke my mind. I was telling my cousin that last night. You don’t play short passes on a drenched pitch. We got away with blue murder. Swansea could have buried us last night. Glad it was only 3.1 which even flattered us.

  44. potter says:

Doesn’t surprise me that he’s sold Giroud . He only thinks forward and as he banned decent crossing some time ago half of his usefulness has gone. However , how many times did Giroud clear corners and free kicks at the near post ? another string to our defensive bow disappears.

  45. rico says:

Bearing in mind Auba can’t play in the Europa League, selling Ollie this month seems odd. Had we kept Walcott then fine but there’s no way I’d have done a deal with Chelsea. In any case, I don’t think moving to them will be good for him..

    New post is up now.

  46. Lee says:

AFCamden has apparently tweeted that he has heard the management are working on an exit strategy for Wenger this summer, and that Joachim loew is first choice to replace him after WC….
