Gotze, Capoue and Reina all in this summer! Wenger's inspiration secures the points….

Morning all,

Just a bit of gossip up first and that is about summer transfers and the football journalists believe that Wenger will be making a record £30million bid for Borussia Dortmund’s Mario Gotze. In addition to him Wenger is considering a £10m move for Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue and the keeper he wants is Pepe Reina.

Those will be the three in and the rest of the squad will be bolstered by the younger players.

There you go, transfer window all sorted by some of Fleet Street’s finest here….

Doh!

Back to yesterday and what a meal we made of that!

During the first half we had something like a 75% v 25% of possession.

We had chances to score, not just any old half chance but, really good chances.

But, a heavy first touch, a badly directed shot or just pure inability to finish looked like it would cost us dear.

Gervinho showed a some nifty footwork but when presented with at least one golden opportunity to give us the lead, he was awful. Saying that, had other players had more about them, they would have been ready to pounce onto his misplaced shot!

Ramsey was also guilty of missing out of getting on the score-sheet. Some think his overall performance warranted a man of the match award. Sorry, not for me!

Giroud hit the crossbar, well, his attempt bounced off the top of the crossbar, Cazorla had a shot from distance saved and Giroud forced a save from Bunn when he tried to nod on a cross from Sagna.

0-0 at half-time, how I never know. But that line is all a bit too familiar…

Ten minutes after the break, Kai Kamara was felled by Kieran Gibbs just outside the penalty area and from the resulting free kick, Snodgrass curled in the perfect cross from the right. Defender Michael Turner was first up to head home! Where exactly were our defenders?

Mmmmm – now that wasn’t part of the script!

For once, Arsene Wenger didn’t wait too long to respond, the wasteful Gervinho was taken off, as was a very unfit looking Jack Wilshere and on in their place came Walcott and Podolski. Both players also looked a little off of their game, especially the German who missed a chance to control and bury a cross into the back of the net. Another chance went missing for our number 9 when the Norwich keeper saved down by his feet. The same two players were involved again, but again, Bunn saved well by tipping the shot onto the bar…

It wasn’t meant to be was it?

Actually, it was and the media will hate it.

A penalty decision was given our way. Alex Tettey had made a spectacular clearance with an overhead kick following yet another corner of ours and this was followed by a bit of shirt pulling on Giroud by Kamara. All seemed a bit 50/50 to me, but Mike Jones took the word of his man on the line and up stepped Arteta to bury the penalty.

1-1

Phew, surely now we’d go and secure all the points I thought even though time was running out.

Chamberlain came on in place of Sagna and he had an immediate impact. His fine cross from the by-line set up Giroud, although some suggest it was an own goal by Bassong, the former Tottenham Hotspur player….

Any doubts were then buried when an offside Theo Walcott pressed into the box and played the ball to Podolski. He’d obviously been on the pitch long enough to settle down and do what he does best and he did….

His shot, low and hard found the net to put the game beyond any doubt.

Many mischief makers will suggest that every goal we scored had a bit of good fortune behind it, well who gives a flying one??

How many times have we been on the receiving end of decisions similar to what we witnessed today?

Far too many to mention is my answer!

How many times have we said that footballing sides build their own luck?

We did that yesterday!

But, we had many many chances, by half time we could easily have been two, maybe three or more goals up but we weren’t.

Yesterdays result wasn’t luck, we earned it over 90 minutes..

Actually, I think Wenger earned it for us because every single one of his substitutions played their part in securing our victory..

So well done to him…

Another word from me has to go to Fabianski – he made a couple of top class saves at crucial moments in the match.

Maybe one of which kept us believing we could win all three points, so well done to him I say…

Third we wanted, third we now are.

Let’s step it up on Tuesday against Everton and make sure we stay there…….

Have a good day all…..

  1. Scott from Oz says:

    Morning all.
Oz, continuing on…..did ANYONE here complain when Merts gave away a penalty and was sent off????
    No.
It was just as obvious a penalty as the one on Giroud.

  2. ozgunner10 says:

i don’t see the two even closely related in true footballing terms but if you do, fair enough

  3. Scott from Oz says:

Does anyone disagree with my comment that if it was Utd instead of us then people would be saying they found a way to win again??
Why do people find a way to detract from Arsenal whether we win or lose?
7 wins from 8………..have we been lucky 7 times lol

  4. Scott from Oz says:

    Rico, definite one for me.
As was the one with Merts.
Why we question things that go our way is beyond me?
    Why feel guilty??
    7 from 8.

  5. ozgunner10 says:

sorry mate, we saw it different is all -to me 2 gifted goals from the officials when we seemed clueless – not arguing we had the possession, we did. The subs also helped no doubt but if United had of got those two calls, we’d have gone ballistic and to me there is no question of that. IMO

  6. Duducane says:

I don’t think Reina is good enough anymore. We don’t need him at all. We can do better than that.

  7. rico says:

The way I saw our goals is, had they been scored against us in a
    3-1 defeat, I’d be bloomin livid…

    As would you be Scott…

So there is the reverse to your theory.

  8. mathew yemi says:

Wenger nearly kill the match by dropping rosicky for unfit wilshere, but to be sincere we were lucky to win the match.

  9. potter says:

I’m not sure Gibbs bought him down , it looked like he tripped himself but I will have to wait until I see the re runs.

  10. rico says:

Duducane, I too think there are better keepers than Reina..

Mathew yemi, was he dropped? I don’t think so, surely he’d have been on the bench, It was hit fitness imho and didn’t want to risk him ahead of Tuesdays match.

  11. Scott from Oz says:

No you weren’t Oz, you suggested that fans can not offer a fair opinion on things.
When Kozzer dragged a player down a month or so back we all agreed it was a penalty but no send off.
Was the player sent off yesterday??

  12. Breezy says:

Have to disagree on the Ramsey bit, I thought he fully deserved the MOTM. Worked hard all game (as usual) provided good cover for the defence and got forward as well. I must say he and Artera do seem to dovetail well in centre mid.

  13. ozgunner10 says:

i stand by your point one Scott – having said that ALL supporters are the same, well most of them. I remember saying to you in words a while ago, when you were claiming the United conspiracies again that they do make a lot of their own luck. We did exactly that yesterday in my opinion. I simply admitted to the luck was all

  14. Scott from Oz says:

    Rico, was that Frederici??
I didn’t see it, but another Aussie lad 🙂
Oz, one or two “questionable” decisions compared to one a week for Utd and you compare the situations??
    Ok then.

  15. rico says:

All three of our goals, on another day, would not have been imho…

But then nor would Norwich have scored, IF Gibbs didn’t bring their player down…

  16. tsgh says:

    Good morning all,

Nothing like a sunny sunday morning on HH. A stellar post-match report.

Scott you know the 7 out of 8 wins has got nothing to do with AW… it is due to SB being allowed to train the players by the clueless non-evolving french man. SB is so good the zonal marking deployed started this season and the goal we conceded yesterday was due to AW not talking to SB again… 😉

He is jealous the man he appointed as no.2 will get all the credit.

  17. tsgh says:

Fergie wins like that every other weekend and he is a great motivator…. Arsenal under AW win and it is due to luck…

A special congratulations to the Wigan boss Roberto Martinez… good football pays off…

Poo-lis under pressure from his own fans… they now claim, the football is boring so 1 win in this calendar year is not worth it…

But wait he bullies AW and his team that is the greatest achievement any English manager can have isn’t it?

  18. ozgunner10 says:

Also seems the arry’ magic is well a truly dead – his team offered nothing yesterday, like they have accepted their fate and can’t wait to move on, as many will despite claims for the owner to the contrary. Wonder if Arry’ is safe, i doubt it?

  19. bc says:

The squad is currently in pretty good shape thus papering over the cracks. For me its all about who or ratjer if we sell off the fringe players. The players that we need to look at are fabianski mannone sagna djourou santos rosicky diaby denilson park chamakh bendtner. Obviously we wre already moving on squillaci and arshavin whilst I believe that eastmond who also takes up a place in the 25 will be joining them plus henderson watt and shea will also leave thus not joining coquelin as a homegrown player.
I am certain that szczesney mertesacker koscielny vermaelen gibbs monreal arteta ramsey coquelin cazorla walcott podolski gervinho giroud will all be in the 25 next season and they will be joined by martinez jenkinson miquel meade yennaris wilshire frimpong ryo chamberlain campbell as under 21s. So as far as I am concerned we have 11 places up for grabs in the 25 man squad plus the need for another under 21 centre back . Though I expect that as usual wenger will leave between 1-5 spaces free instead using under 21s to fill the gap. Although i expect wenger will loan out many of the under 21s. So here is my thinking of who is the running for those spaces.

2 keepers from fabianski mannone martinez and or/new signings
2 right backs from sagna jenkinson bellerin and/or new signings
1 centre back from djourou miquel and or/new signing
1 versatile defender from sagna jenkinson and/or new signing
3 midfielders from rosicky diaby denilson wilshire yennaris frimpong eisfeld aneke and/or new signings
2 strikers/wingers from park chamakh bendtner chamberlain ryo campbell gnabry akpom and/or new signings
1 u21 centre back from hajrovic boateng hayden monteiro and/or new signing

  20. Scott from Oz says:

‘Arry was often compared favourably to Wenger over the last few years 🙂
Thank goodness he is sowing his true colours.
Martinez is not only a good manager, but a good man.

  21. ozgunner10 says:

tsgh – every other weekend?? Do you actually believe that mate?? I admitted the subs was a good move, i agreed with Rico they made a difference, i don’t agree luck didn’t play a big part in the three points. I also agree when you pressure like that, things do go your way, i also believe its part of the United secret

  22. rico says:

Ts, our goal was conceded because we won’t ditch the zonal system.

Whose idea is it to stick with that system??

  23. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, since we are on a winning run and everyone is crediting Bold, it just must be his choice to stick to it 🙂
A little note for the future……well, maybe.
Sean potted 8 out of our 12 goals yesterday.
The opposition was a side we hadn’t played before, but were unbeaten in over a year.
Best game our lads have ever put together.
Arsene, draw up the contracts…please 🙂

  24. Scott from Oz says:

What do we know of him Rico??
I can’t say i know anything of him, but that isn’t saying much lol.
Oz, you are still a top bloke, just a negative one…must be due to living in that miserable joint called WA 🙂

  25. tsgh says:

    I don’t even try Scott… 😀

One of my traditional gooner mates who hates AW and blogs on LG sometimes reckons I am the reason why people are beginning to rate ramsey… I told him I wasn’t but that the main man is scott on this site… he says he will have a look at HH… 😉 He also thinks I am staring the JW point too much…

  26. ozgunner10 says:

8 of 12 -now thats impressive. A gooner high five for the kid Scott. Sounds like the coach has got them rockin’

  27. rico says:

Ts, I take it you aren’t talking about comments made on here so your point is irrelevant really. Isn’t it?

  28. tsgh says:

Yes Oz…I can mention a few games in recent weeks fergie time helped gain him 3 points… Reading, Fulham, dippers…. the list goes on and on… Nani gets sent off in the CL and its front page news plus main point on Talk shite…

Vpursey get sent off for not hearing the ref at the Nou Camp and he deserves it and they instigate AW’s behaviour and suspension from the touch line is deserved… enough said…

  29. Scott from Oz says:

Oz, their coach is the reason they aren’t scoring 18 lol.
WA..never been there, but i am smart enough to know it is bloody gorgeous….great fishing as well!!
Ginge, i am persistent, if nothing else!!
I may always be wrong, but i stick to what i believe.
    Shut up Wath 🙂

  30. Scott from Oz says:

Ginge, imagine what happens if Van Persie is not sent off that day.
We possibly go on to win the Cl…who knows….and we could be in a different position now.
Football….it is never predictable, and certainly never boring.

  31. ozgunner10 says:

final question Scott as i’ve copped a flogging today haha Do you think the likes of Ramsey, Giroud and Gervinho would have featured in any of the, lets say more competitive sides of years gone by? If not does that maybe reflect a lessoning of expectations and if so, who would be responsible for that?

  32. Judge me in May says:

    Morning,
It was definitely a penalty, but the controversy is because the linesman gave it and not the ref who was closer to the incident and didn’t act.. The corner kick the linesman also gave us before the penalty was the wrong decision.. Should have been a goal kick..
and then the off side for the the 3rd goal…
I changed my mind on my M. O. M.. should definitely be that linesman.. .

  33. tsgh says:

The typical media loving of ‘arry is dying… surprised?

Now AVB who was not good enough allegedly is wanted by RM. Funny that? The same ‘arry tried to sell Bale and no one bought him… AVB comes in turns Bale into a false 9 and he is a potential player of the season…

Maureenho is a genius because he is a winner…. however, even though top players want to win trophies they don’t still want him at RM allegedly… 😉

  34. tsgh says:

Was bobby Pires more skilful than Gerv? Or did he learn much quicker with more intelligent players around him?

Pires like gerv was always doubled up on when ever he had the ball… however, the difference then to what Gerv has now is that, both TH14 and DB10 or NK25 use to act as a decoy for him to cut in… what does Sc19 or JW10 do for him when he has the ball? What does TR07 does when Gerv has the ball? TR07 acts as a decoy for him because of his intelligence…

Gotze was not at his best last season because Kagawa did not give him any support… this season Reuz and Gotze are doing that each other. Just a thought… something even the great Zidane recently commented on to…

  35. agirlagunner says:

Boo!! What a lovely Sunday, this is. 🙂 rico, great match summary. ALL match summaries are great when we win. I can read report after report after report. 😀

  36. Scott from Oz says:

Oz, i say Giroud has his place….against certain sides, and with another season under his belt, he will be awesome, imo.
Keep in mind he has only been a fulltime footballer for 3 years..til then, he was a student.
Let’s go back to him in 12 months time.
    Gervinho….he kills me.
He is one of the best dribblers in the PL, and can beat a player like few others.
He just stutters in front of goal.
No, he is not good enough.
He may eventually find his feet, but right now, no.
Ramsey….well, how good would Bergkamp or Henry have ever been if they had their leg snapped in two??
Plenty of players have never, ever come back to even close to their best, but Aaron has.
He works his arse off, never complains when playing out of position, is brilliant off the ball and defensively one of our best players.
It absolutely baffles me why people bag him, and my honest opinion is that it shows how little people know about football, when everything is taken into account, but each to their own i guess.
Of course, i did blame Aaron himself for a while for trying to be Cesc’s replacement when everyone said he would be 🙂
I made a comment a few months back after seeing a replay of our 2004 side beaten by Liverpool.
Our defenders were caught short a few times costing us the win, and i also said i would back Merts to beat Adams over 100 yards any day of the week.
Time is often very, very kind on ex players, and even more so when they were part of a great side.

  37. Gonnercode says:

Seem we’ve all forgotten kos challenge on dzeko…….can sum1 pls tell d different kamara’s shirt pulling and that of kos on dzeko?

  38. rico says:

Gerv and Pires in the same sentence doesn’t quite seem right somehow…

Hi agag, always easier to write and read when we have won 😉

  39. frednerk says:

Now ramsey has got match fit,
we are now seeing a player with 90 minute engine,
and covering up a lot of the cracks in this
    midfield.
    Well done to the lad.

  40. tsgh says:

doesn’t seem right… but even Zidane and Youri Djorkaeff’s thought it was right to mention both players in the same sentence on Eurosports…

  41. rico says:

Bloomin heck Scott – just because others don’t support your view on Ramsey, doesn’t really give you the right to suggest they don’t know anything about football.

Some might suggest you are the one who knows little because you see Ramsey as being a very good player…

Now you wouldn’t like that would you?

  42. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Morning all……….. Morning Ginge…
Cancelled train from Kings X from Doncaster last night …
….Was re assigned on the Sunderland train..
…unfortunately my first class ticket was invalid and I had to sit on an overcrowded train with the peasants in standard ….

  43. Steve says:

After yesterday I think Norwich have replaced Stoke as the side I most like to see relegated. They didn’t just dispute the penalty, they disputed every single decision. The time-wasting was blatant, but what annoyed me most was the snide ankle taps and elbows to face and back and stomach which all our players received throughout the game. It’s not how the game has to be played !

Much as I like JW, replacing Rosicky with Jack seemed to take all the pace out of our midfield. Playing Ramsey, Arteta and JW in midfield just doesn’t seem to give us the right balance.

  44. Scott from Oz says:

Ginge, something obvious stands out with those videos….
In our great side, players ran from much deeper positions than our current side.

  45. agirlagunner says:

rico, I am in great spirits today. I wonder why. 😀

Scott, make sure AFC get first dibs on Sean. We don’t want La Masia getting their hands on him. 😛

Hi, Oz, fred, Ginge. JM, I like your MotM.

  46. tsgh says:

I agree… that is even what Neville said once on Monday night football…

Some question why Ox is not played instead of Yao… but forget Ox wants to be a CAM but then he does not want to track back and work on his positional awareness…

The same guys then wonder why we win jack all when they say attackers are not meant to defend… beggars belief

  47. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, i do have the right to suggest that….of cpurse i do, as this is a democracy, yes??
I said it was just my opinion, and plenty tell me when i am wrong, so what is the difference??
Of course, Wenger has always liked him, but what the hell would he know about football, right?

  48. Micko says:

    Morning all,
Another kick in the teeth for our poor relations, the sooner we put them out of their misery the better, if you want some good conspiracies that’s the place to look tsgh.
Rico, 10.38, how about throwing in a sleeping bag while your at it.
Best news from yesterday, Scrooge tells us the team has belief, that’s good enough for me.

  49. Scott from Oz says:

Agag, it may be 1,000,000/1, but i guarantee that if he is good enough, he will be a Gunner!
I have trained him well….he hates all the right clubs 🙂

  50. rico says:

Has Ox said he wants to play central Ts, i thought it was AW who said he would one day play central in midfield??

    Think I know agag…

Just watching goals on Sunday, seems we really were fortunate to be allowed all our goals

I reckon Wenger has been rubbing shoulders with Fergie 😉

  51. tsgh says:

Hi Micko… we need all the push we can master to get over the ‘line’.

Scrooge needs to spend fullspot… no excuses now

  52. rico says:

Hi Micko, good to see you back.

Good idea, maybe with a zip like Wengers, should keep them all quiet….

  53. Scott from Oz says:

So anyone can suggest i am wrong, but i can not reciprocate, hey Rico?
Ok then, now i am clear on the rules.

  54. Micko says:

Gotta say this season more than any other we’ve have had a fair share of decisions go our way, i’m with oz, you have to make your own luck, do think some people read too much into things, it’s just a simple game afterall….isn’t it.

  55. tsgh says:

You will find when Ox and his dad met AW in summer 2011… Ox said AW asked him where he saw himself play… He said AW told him he agrees he will be playing centrally but first he would play on the wings to learn about positional awareness for 2 or 3 years..

…. “To get the nod in the first game against France was unbelievable. It doesn’t get any better than that. For the boss to pick me in the other games off the bench was also brilliant. The Italy game was just horrible, the fact we lost. You could see how hard the boys worked for 120 minutes.
“But I learned a lot from that game, watching our boys but also from Andrea Pirlo.
“Maybe some people don’t think I am a central midfielder, some people think I am a winger, but to see quality like that on the pitch was something.
“I will learn a lot from that and how to defend against someone like him. It was a good learning curve but still heart-breaking in terms of the way we went out of the competition.”

    The sun…

  56. Scott from Oz says:

Ox, his dad and Wenger believe he is a central player….points all around.
I reckon he could even play as a striker.
He has all the skills, and is not afraid to shoot

  57. rico says:

You do make me chuckle Scott…

I didn’t mention you view on a footballers, you can think what you like about who you like, I really couldn’t care – but suggesting other fans don’t know much about football just because they don’t agree is quite rude imo.

  58. Micko says:

Scott, reading your comments, it’s like I’ve never been away and I mean that in the nicest possible way !!!

  59. rico says:

I too think we got lucky Micko

3 points is all I care about, we didn’t cheat to get them, the officials mucked up….

  60. southyorkshiregunner says:

What needs to be said is that everyone would have taken a 3-1 win before the game. It was a great result and I cannot knock it. 3pts were wanted and 3pts were got.
The negative aspects is that in reality we should have battered them out of sight. We had the chances. We hit the bar twice, and had the chances to have won 7-1.

What needs to be said is that after 20 minutes Norwich were continually using gamesmanship techniques….. (see Terry Thomas in School for Scoundrels) Time wasting …. Even more so after they went 1-0 up.
The referee was gutless and should have nipped it n the bud, but he didn’t … Norwich shaved around 10-12 minutes off the game by sauntering for the ball, feigning injury, and by even kicking the ball away … This was Leeds Utd of the 1970’s, but without the aggression and flair …
…If we had won 7-1 I would have still said the sameand If the Swansea v Chelsea match learnt us anything, it is that paying customers – skyTV, AlJazeera, BBC included, deserve to see a 90 minute + football match …. and not some under-talented wankers try to shave time by pratting about, feigning injuries and limping to the touchline .. it needs stamping out …

The substitutions changed the match …. We looked like a team…
Walcott was pivotal in that he immediately had their defence all over the place …. There was a decent call for a penalty after he broke free …. I haven’t seen the highlights.. but I think there was definitely a case…
…The actual penalty, I didn’t really see…. but great stuff … the referee had up to that point given us nothing all game …
The cut-inside and the overlap on the left worked a treat and Chamberlain exploited it and produced a well-worked goal…. and it was nice for Podolski to score ….

Gervais is Gervais … All I can say is that between him and Diaby, they must give Wenger one hell of a blow job….
… He’s about as productive as the pondo’s inside the ground serving the cold burgers and overpriced pies…

Win all the remaining games and we will achieve 3rd place …

  61. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, as i said, i was being honest and i stand by it.
I don’t get how people do not see it.
Next time, i will do my best do sugar coat things, i promise.

  62. Scott from Oz says:

Oh, and i did tip a 3-1 win, as i do every game 🙂
Trouble is, Aaron pulled up 3 short of my predicted hat trick!

  63. rico says:

Maybe you guys just say things different in Oz 😉

Syg, agree re the subs, they did change the match and just glad that AW for once, made them early enough for for them to pay off….

  64. emma says:

    Good morning all
    ,
    Good report rico

Wishing the Ladies today all the best in today’s Champions League semi-final vs Wolfsburg.

Jeez why are we bleating over the match.

Was the Norwich foul that led to a goal a foul? No
Was it a corner that led to our first goal?No
    Was it a penalty? Yes
Was TW14 offside which led to our third goal? yes
Do the canaries deserve a point? No
Are the canaries becoming the new stoke ? Yes
Was Ramsey the MOTM? In my opinion yes

  65. Scott from Oz says:

In all seriousness we all definitely do see things from a different perspective, and there is no doubt about that.
7 wins from 8 games is a massive run of games imo.
I would take that any day.
Plenty of Gooners, and not just on HH, seem to find every negative and every reason they can to detract from this successful run.
If it works FOR us, it is luck.
If it happens AGAINST us, it is football.
I can’t explain it and have given up trying.
I am just enjoying the ride.

  66. emma says:

Scott – since the turn of this year, ramsey has being our best performer. He is the most efficient of our midfielders

  67. Xr!s says:

No one talked about the time-delaying tactics Norwich came up with, immediately they scored. I remembered Newcastle’s match against us last season and we went on to win late on. I say Norwich got what they deserved.

    Morning All

  68. tsgh says:

Just a clarification… I am not saying Gerv is a better footballer than Pires…

What is the difference between a good player and a good footballer? I think Yao is a very good player but a footballer at 25 y.o when will he ever learn?

AW like most Arsenal fans like excellent players but forget you need a mix of technical players and just pure footballers in your team…

Rednose buys footballers that is why he wins because a footballer knows he has to drop back and defend and when to take the ball to the corner flag area instead of trying to score from an impossible position when you are down to 10 men and you have 2 minutes to go…

  69. Scott from Oz says:

    Lol Oz.
I will say this……..about two months ago, i made a comment defending Ramsey to the hilt, and copped it.
One of our more knowledgable and respected members said people knocking Aaron were speaking out of their arse, and not a single word was said.
I guess opinions are all good and well when certain people offer them up.

  70. tsgh says:

Emma, Aaron has always been a football man’s player the reason why fergie wanted him but did not try with Ox maybe…

The same way the chavs are finally appreciating Ramires now… but some fans never rated him.

I think it is to do with what people appreciate from a footballer. That is the reason why the foriegn players who play in the academy use to rate Oguzhan Ozyakup and Henderson as a dream player instead of maybe Jack… Or Serge said Diaby was the best player in the Arsenal team when most fans will think it is Jack or Santi…

  71. tsgh says:

Emma, SYG do you know the reason why Toulalon is not selected for France anymore? 36 caps in 7 years for his talent is surprisingly low… or why AW never looked at him recently…

  72. Xr!s says:

    lol. I just saw it,SYG.

Wigan are in the finals. Who would you choose to play against them in the finals?

  73. southyorkshiregunner says:

Nearly everything re: Gervais is there – the speed, the skill, the stamina … The problem with him is that it is a “head-thing” … and that being the case, this is as far as he goes ….
To be at the top of your profession and with a top club you need the lot to be consistent and the brain IS that onboard computer and without it you’re bollocksed
…. You can work on the skill, speed, stamina etc … but if you’re a thick shit you’re a thick shit.. it’s not going to change ….
If you have a head for the game you can skimp on the skill, the power, the speed …. look at Dave Mackay or Johnny Giles … They played some of their best football at the end of their careers … Because THEY POSSESSED THE HEAD to READ THE GAME … look at Ashley Cole, Frank Lampard …… Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes ….

Eboue had the speed, the skill and the power to be the greatest right back in World Football…. a lot more so than Gary Neville … But he was as thick as two short planks …..

…Neville was a slightly-above average player but possessed a good footballing brain … and as a player he won everything ….

  74. tsgh says:

what did people honestly think of poldi and his touch when he came on… SYG you had first hand view…

Allegedly the main reason Prince Poldi did not make it at FC Munich was because he was not working hard of the ball not because Toni or Klose was better than he was… 😉

  75. emma says:

tsgh – That is why manure win trophies. They may not have gifted technical midfielders like city, chavs and us but they have grafters. That is why kigawa, Nani rarely feature this season. Hopefully we are now finding a balance b/w technical players and grafters in our team which will eventually lead to trophies soonest

  76. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Toulalan?
I could never understand why Wenger was never in for him when a player like him was what we really needed…..

  77. useroz says:

The pen decision has surely been battered for nearly 20 hours now… But as the TV replay shows, the ref’s view was blocked despite 8 yards away; saw both falling and Kanara’s body blocked the shirt pulling (typical Vidic trick btw)…whereas the lino had a full frontal view of OG’s stretched shirt! Well, it’s half a pitch width and not surprising he saw it and called it…a bit foreign to Arsenal yes but it’s fair.

Wenger does not deserve all credits for the subs. That’s what the 7m a year gives you at a minimum. Well, bloggers were crying loud in real-time to sub Jack and Gerv (some said OG, Ramsey)…Mouri would have done it at half time…Why waited till we conceded??? Wot if we conceded at 75″ not 55″?? That’s lacking tactical awareness for someone who did 50,000 subs in his glittering career!

  78. stevepalmer1 says:

    Afternoon all, Nice report Rico,
Good win, I thought this could be a tricky match, but the guys stayed in there to the end. Penalty was it or wasn’t it, Just because a linesman is 35 yards away does not mean he can’t see a foul, what a load of crap. This pulling shirts and wrestling inside the box is a foul whether this happens in every game or not just goes to show that referee’s should blow the whistle, a fouls a foul. The offside goal yes we were fortunate and perhaps that should have been seen. Never the less we were a lot better than them and the lads deserved what they got. Wenger looked happy he’s on target to get his wish.

  79. emma says:

Diaby has it as well but he is injury prone. That’s why I said Wilshere unbalance the team. Midfield of SC19, JW10 and Arteta is suicidal. Wilshere has the ability to possess both feature but that will come with time as his fitness improves, probably next season. Everyone in the midfield can’t be technical there must be a sweeper(someone that does the dirty job)

  80. tsgh says:

I wouldn’t mind Camacho of Malaga as the DM… trained by manuel is a stepping stone to AW’s tactics…

  81. tsgh says:

    ”Wenger loves Aaron.
Fergie desperately tried to buy Aaron.
He must be no good then.”

You know redNose would have played him in such a way that Shawcross would never have broken Aaron’s leg. 😀

The same way Poldi has never played upfront on his own in a 4-3-3 but the net says AW is clueless and playing him as a winger even though Poldi has played less than 50 games in his whole career as a striker… 😉

  82. southyorkshiregunner says:

Podolski’s mis-control ginge lol…. You could imagine what I thought and it rhymes with “Cooking Banker”……..
If I’m honest, he was the only player that had the bollocks to shoot at the target when the opportunity arose
……. Carzorla had the opportunities but he tended to lay it off ….. Passing the book?

…If we had Fabregas playing in the side we have now, I really think that we would be up there with Manchester United….

He is exactly what is missing now as the team he was in was missing exactly the players we have now …. if that makes any sense?????

On another point I felt dead happy for Chamberlain … he was as happy as a pig in shit leaving the field and kissing the badge ….

  83. tsgh says:

You crack me up SYG… next time you are down here we should share a beer…

SYG concerning your point at 12:17… can you believe a player or two believed AW was racist because he would never play an African as a no.10?

They say he always converted them as DM or wingers because he saw them as athletes…

AW’s assistant said it has nothing to do with race as Oppong Weah was an African and a no.10 or false 9…. he said it was to do with the way some players saw the game….

    Has AW forgotten about that….?

  84. emma says:

tsgh – I think Kagawa has joined the wrong team, he will rarely get match time as long as Fergie is on the job. He is just too technical for Fergies liking. Until he learns to work hard for the team he will continue to warm the bench

  85. tsgh says:

Where would he have played though if he joined us…. would we have got SC19 if we had bought Kagawa? I like SC19 and he has the fitness… he just needs a bit of positional awareness… and 2 more TR07’s to play with him…

  86. southyorkshiregunner says:

Deffo Ginge … same if you get up here ….

…I know you’re an ex-Armed Forces Op …. All my dads family were the same and I have some of his close family’s medals mounted in the lounge … some go back to the Boer War .. His dad ( Francis Sidney Rayner) was a Captain who died at Monecasinno ….
    …Check out Oswald Rayner …. I wish I had medals in there… !

  87. tsgh says:

Pastore can bring what we are missing from Cesc… I still have hope that Jack can be the trequartista of the team… he is not playing as much… special relationship with the french oilers arsene…

It will be interesting to see how Eisfield, TR07 and Sc19 in the same team will fare… not enough power though unless we get a younger Diop…

  88. southyorkshiregunner says:

    emma says:at 12:40 pm
I think Kagawa has joined the wrong team.. He is just too technical for Fergies liking. Until he learns to work hard for the team..

    ——————————-

No one really knows how managers think … I certainly don’t
    ..
Arsenal in the late 60’s early 70’s seemed to love the battling workhorses ….
…George Armstrong was a crowd favourite… A young man with the face of a ffty-year old jumping into tackles and running around like a headless chicken…… For as uncultured as he was, the crowd loved his endeavour ……
…At the same time Jon Sammels, who was a cultured player and ten years ahead of his time, got mercilessly hammered by the crowd….
The history books will tell you that …. sort of ….

What has never ever been said in the history books is that Armstrong was on his way out in 1970 …. Arsenal were looking at Burnley’s Willie Morgan and went out and bought Marinello …. In 1971 they were also looking at Bobby Hope of WBA – a left sided attacker…..

… A bit of luck and the fact that he was amiable and well-liked kept Armstrong in the side ….. but the fact was that Bertie Mee was looking for an alternative ….

  89. tsgh says:

Parlour was another grafter who even considering the bobby’s, Kanu’s and DB10’s of this world there was still room for him…

After Reyes I thought AW would realise you have to look at the head too… I guess he did with bendtner…

That is why I was surprised Lansbury who AW had compared to the Romford Pele go so easily… but then the player was allegedly very difficult to manage and he felt he deserved to play for us even though he could not make it as a first team player at WHU in the championship…

When Reyes and Ronaldo were on the market… Reyes was more of a finished product but what transpired afterwards well….

  90. tsgh says:

I was too laid back … I was told by Monckton that I was too quick tempered….

    And i believe in conspiracies…. wrong fit i guess…

  91. tsgh says:

”I would have machine-gunned down everyone with a beard or wearing a scarf …” lots of the younger recruits come with that attitude but they learnt to cover it up or get rid of it…

You would have been a good para though…

Considering your ammo rounds are counted for you when you are going on a patrol in the Barmy… its only in the Us forces that you could shoot as many rounds so far as you could carry it… 😀

  92. tomstoned says:

    great post 🙂
back from the great cold nothingness(is that a word ?)Svalbard, and finally back home for the summer :)and what a start å great post on my favourite blog and Arsenal in top gear :)hope all is well with You all..to be honest ive missed You all :)ill be sure to ba as pessemistic as ever ;)..
thought Giroud had an excellent game yesterday and agree Fabianski did in my humble opinion not only have a great game..he was a match winner yesterday !

  93. emma says:

tsgh – looks like wenger dodged a bullet in Yanga mbiwa and sissoko looks like a shadow of himself

  94. tsgh says:

emma-Wenger is mostly right…. I know SYG and Rico may not agree with some of the transfers but… ;-D

  95. tsgh says:

Capoue will be fine… Sissoko is a Song… he thinks he is a player maker maestro instead of doing what he is told.

That is why I am suggesting Camacho if Manuel is coming to Chelsea…

  96. tsgh says:

Sissoko is a very good player but we already have such players… what we need are players like Capoue or better toulalon /Camacho who are more than just players

  97. emma says:

tsgh – I thought it was toulalan that does the dirty work for malaga. But wouldn’t mind Camacho at least we already have nacho. Manuel won’t be so stupid to take up the chelsea job, Man city possibly

  98. southyorkshiregunner says:

Di Canio …….. Management by hand grenade, eh?
I’m chuffed for him. No airs nor graces … just goes to show what a motivator can do …. I’m glad we’ve already played them !

  99. ozgunner10 says:

rumours are also on the street we’re after some lad called Cheikhou Kouyaté – Anderlecht ? Difference is here he’s come out with a statement along the lines of “Arsenal have been watching me for some time, if they make the offer, i am gone”

  100. eastsidepaul says:

Hey guys I can guarantee you that no DM will be bought this summer, Wenger will simply say that Arteta is doing that job, end of. He is not going to spend money(Which he feels like he doesn’t have to).

30m for Gotze, never, not now, not never. Plus no need for Dortmund to sell, and why would the player want to leave a club challenging for their domestic title and confirmed champions league football next year, hell they could win it this year. Not happening.

Reina? Dear god why… a perfect Arsenal signing, inconsistant goalkeeper who loves dropping clangers. No thanks. Lets just drop 15m on a goalkeeper who will be at the top level for the next 10 year, let take one from either Stoke or Sunderland and be done with it.

Great win yesterday. But if that happens against Everton on Tuesday there are two hopes of getting points out of the game, and both those hopes are not good. Defending is shocking, and has been for years. Its the first thing that should have been sorted, I don’t think the players we have are bad players, in fact they are probably all fantastic defenders, its the coaching, its got to be, what ever is going on at Arsenal regarding the coaching is not going to change with Wenger still there, so our defensive problems will continue for a while yet I am afraid. And until our defence is sorted out, Arsenal will not will another trophy.

I was just thinking today about all the players we have on loan who will be back in the summer and the thought sent a shudder down my spine, even thinking about Santos, Chamakh, Bendtner and Denilson in an Arsenal shirt again….

What the hell happened to Arshavin??? People will point out and say he was lazy and unmotivated .. Isn’t that the job of the staff at Arsenal to keep their players motivated? And lazy?! Didn’t look that way during the 08 euros with Russia did it?? OR during his first season at Arsenal? What happened?! He was a joy to watch.

  101. tsgh says:

Sorry had to dash out for a run.

interesting point about Manuel to $hitty …. never crossed my mind… I may put a 10er on that…

Oz we bid for kouyate allegedly but he chose to repay anderletcht for bringing him through by helping them qualify for the CL proper…

Him featuring in the qualifier I guess put AW off him…

  102. tsgh says:

NUFC could have gone 1-1 before Sunderland scored their 2nd. the lineman raised his flag for a perfectly good goal…

Imagine PHW or Stan telling Di Canio you have no money to spend or that you have to sell to buy for several years…. :-d

  103. rico says:

Hello all, have we sold anyone?

Syg, had I been here, a yellow card would have been branded… 😉

Unless like Clattenburg, I forgot where I put them….

  104. ozgunner10 says:

eastsidepaul – hi mate, i don’t think Wenger can say any of them are doing their job looking at the table do you? Arteta is not a DM and i think there will be lots of fingers pointed at Wenger yet again if he neglects what is a very obvious need

  105. ozgunner10 says:

after 700 odd minutes goalless RVP scores from the spot – 700 minutes and he still has 20 goals, amazing

  106. eastsidepaul says:

Hey Oz, Agree that Arteta is not a DM, but I think Wenger feels obliged to play him and if another DM is brought in (Which should be) Arteta is out. Unless he drops Cazorla or Wilshere. Or forces Cazorla out to the right.

I just can’t see the players that are need for us to challenge next year coming it, it hasn’t happened up to now, why would this window be any different.

  107. rico says:

Thanks Oz, been doing a lot in the garden and got the grass cut – nice 🙂

Can’t believe Sunderland beat newcastle so easily….

  108. eastsidepaul says:

How fun will it be watching our former captain picking up a title in his first year, with (arguably) our fiercest rivals..

  109. ozgunner10 says:

agree on your window thoughts and if we nail the four its the perfect excuse for him to spend less, who cares about the 21 points and cup embarrassments of Blackburn and Bradford. Its a real worry for me

  110. eastsidepaul says:

So what is the difference between us and United? Is that they have better players than us? (They would want to, consider the money they have spent), but player for player I don’t they do. Is it that they have a manager would would gnaw off his own arm if it meant the difference between 1 point and 3?! Or is it just a culture difference between the two clubs? Losing is not an option at United, but it that doesn’t seem to be the case at Arsenal.

Or is it simple down to who has the bigger bank account? United wanted our best player, they had more money than us, they got him, and won the league with him …

  111. eastsidepaul says:

Couldn’t agree more OZ, I can foresee an excuse not to spend whatever the outcome in the next few weeks, and those cup defeats should not be forgotten.

  112. rico says:

I think it’s ‘losing is not an option’…

But if reports are right Rvp wanted to stay when he saw who we’d signed but all too late for Gazidis..

    Truth? I have no idea…..

  113. ozgunner10 says:

recent years have not been about money mate – there spending is not that much over ours. Remember they got 70m for Ronaldo. But team mentalities are worlds apart, blame who you will – also all his recent singings of the last few years are all featuring and of the required level, are ours?

  114. rico says:

I don’t think those cup defeats will be forgotten and there is a big part of me that believes Wenger will sign at least 3 experienced players…

  115. eastsidepaul says:

Rico I have heard the same, and if that is the case, that is just unforgivable. Its the ultimate cutting off your nose to spite your face.

  116. eastsidepaul says:

No they have not been at the level required, his signings in the last 5-6 years have been very disappointing. I really do put it down to Dein’s departure.

Rico I think they have already been forgotten! 3 is nowhere near enough! Once I would have listed you 7-8 players would could leave. Now I can name you 7-8 players would could stay. But even that could be a bit harsh, some of those players could be world class with the right coaching.

And look, He has to drop Gervinho for Podolski, what point is he trying to prove, if podolski is still injured, then he should not be on the bench. He needs to show a ruthlessness and start by admitting Gervinho was a mistake and cut his losses with him.

  117. rico says:

Totally agree Esp. The pounds signs rang louder than keeping a player who may just have found himself on the end of so many chances for us this season.

The same ones our players missed time and time again..

Begs the question of why did Wenger/Gazidis not tell RvP that they were going to sign the players we did when they had their little chat??

Something tells me that Wenger had to wait for the money that RvP brought in.

  118. ozgunner10 says:

not according to the financials he didn’t Rico. Not even close as you are seeing again this year with mega bucks available in the summer

  119. rico says:

I’m not sure Bould will forget, don’t think Wenger will either. Kroenke though, well if we get 3rd/4th, I am quite confident he will forget.

But, then there was that other story which suggested that Kroenke really tried to get AW to spend more money, in Jan I think it was, so who tells the truth??

That’s half the problem, so many mixed messages…

I don’t doubt we had to be careful with money when we built the stadium, but wasting what we did/do have of some the signings we have made doesn’t make sense….

Just like keeping younger players who won’t make it doesn’t…

  120. rico says:

For me City is a team run by a manager who is little better than a kid in a sweet shop…

Lot’s of great players, but little balance as a team….

  121. ozgunner10 says:

Still think top four and out comes the “we have proved we’re ready to challenge” crap – he’s done it to many years in a row to stop now. I don’t trust the man at all anymore

  122. ozgunner10 says:

very good description of City Rico, i’d go along with that yes and come the summer he’ll be at it again, assuming he’s there of course

  123. rico says:

Think I’d rather City had won the PL Oz…

Finances on paper are one thing Oz, but how much Wenger gets given to spend is another….

Unless we know that answer for sure, how can we really make a fair judgement?

  124. ozgunner10 says:

ask yourself, look at his wages explosion and those around him, do you think poor Arsene has sat there fighting the board all this time because he loves Arsenal? Come on he’s been allowed to play his ego games for years, he’s had no one to answer to for years and its been his decision for years, he’s told us often enough surely?

  125. rico says:

I’m not so sure Oz, I think he does love the club, otherwise why not depart before now?

There are plenty of clubs who would have snapped him up and some have tried….

  126. ozgunner10 says:

” i will not buy players for the sake of it, i believe in the team i have created” how many times we heard this?

  127. eastsidepaul says:

If the money isn’t there I don’t begrudge him not spending.
But its the day to day things that have really annoyed me. The constant problem with our defence, the panic that sets in with them. The zonal marking, the playing of a highline. Every week you hear the same things about how frail we are at the back and nothing has been don’t about it, I don’t understand it.

I also don’t understand why he must wait to a specific time until he can make changes, its too predictable, if changes need to be made they should be made at anytime!

And why does he insist on playing players out of position at times.

Why is the team not motivate to attack until we a goal down? Why not go for the throat at the start of the match?

if some of these smaller things could be addressed, I feel we would be in a better state.

  128. ozgunner10 says:

respect your opinion Rico only giving you the way i see it, its what the forums all about i guess, well most of the time anyway 🙂

  129. eastsidepaul says:

Rico I don’t think any other club in the world would give him the power he is afforded at Arsenal, and no other club would allow him the time he has gotten at Arsenal. Thats why he stays and the 7m a year! Thats a nice bonus I say for a manager who hasn’t won a trophy in 8 years!

  130. eastsidepaul says:

Just looking at this semi-final. How many of these players could be playing for Arsenal right now! Cech, Cole, Yaya Toure, Nasri, Hazard, Mata, Ba!

  131. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Afternoon all
Why Reina? dozens of GK youngers and betters then him.
30 millions for goetze? Isn’t too much?
Toulalan plays in Malaga now. He is too old and slowly. The hypothetical DM must be a strong player and a player able to speed the game . The transiction ad the movements must be faster. If we haven’t a player with those characterits, we must have a player who can give that responsability to others players and be able to covering all the midfield.
emma comment at 12.26 it’s the same I had said a long time ago. Diaby and Rosicky turn our midfield much more balanced.
Nani (MU) is in the way to PSG
    Nasri scored for M.City

  132. rico says:

    Esp, all of them..

Hi Jm, I think we could get better in goal…

£30 million has been plucked from the sky I suspect. The player said he isn’t ready to move…

  133. rico says:

Really Oz, I’m surprised, has Mourinho said that or just paper chat?

Not even getting the 3 points Adam? 😉

Or the tricky feet and great injection of pace which Gervinho demonstrated so often?

  134. ozgunner10 says:

apparently he was on Radio in spain yes saying he would sit with the Madrid Officials at seasons end but had no desire to leave

  135. ozgunner10 says:

surely he’s never go back to Chelsea anyway…. uumm would he? Although it was an easy 6m i suppose. Wasn’t that his payoff?

  136. ozgunner10 says:

JM i agree mate a fit Diaby and Rosicky would make a difference but relying on that was just plain, well….

  137. rico says:

For sure Adam, I have just removed my tongue from my cheek 😉

Oz, I bet deep down he can’t wait to leave, he’s just playing hard to get 😉

    Sleep well…

  138. Joaquim Moreira says:

    mourinho doesn’t stay in Madrid.
you don’t understand R.Madrid. Is not a coach for R-Madrid. Is a coach for put R.Madrid up (for win the batlle against Barcelona and recover the ego and the myistic of R.Madrid lost in the last years) but doen’st have the class, the education and well spoken needs for be a RM coach.
    PSV 2 ajax 2

  139. rico says:

That was an awful tackle by Torres, studs right down the back of the leg of the City player… Ouch..

Come on Chelsea, take this to extra time and then lose 😉

  140. tsgh says:

Come on Ref… that was a pen… how is Luiz still on the pitch…

Without crashing the party… can someone tell us why BVB are 22 points behind Bayern when they were the undisputed champions last season and the season before…

I won’t even go on about why $hitty are allegedly not champions this season because an injury prone one season wonder joined the neighbours from manchester….

People claim they don’t believe in conspiracies but believe AW would rather sell and undermine this great club than spend to make the team better… wait because he gets a commission when he sells…

When Nastry say AW tell him he had no money to spend …. Cesc, RVP all said the same when they left but it is all AW’s fault… it beggars belief…

  141. tsgh says:

$hitty have a striker who is being offer £44M over the next 4 years to stay… and he still can’t score…

  142. rico says:

Actually, I really don’t understand what you are trying to say Ts, there is an awful lot of ‘fan’s views generalisation’ going on there….

  143. tsgh says:

16 goals from 34 appearances Sergio… at £38M… with better players and without African’s best striker to offer him nothing… almost all there players will be swapped for Arsenal players apart from JW10 and SC19 and that would make Arsenal champions… 😉

A squad worth nearly £600M but only 6 points above a team managed by a clueless manager… it must be due to mere luck

  144. Tlailaxu says:

    @ syg…
…I would have machine-gunned down everyone with a beard or wearing a scarf …
Dear me mate, that’s the spirit…but then I guess I’m glad that not too many of ‘your’ kind are in charge of countries of the world, otherwise it’s a guaranteed fireworks aka WW3…

Regarding the game…I saw last 15 mins of first half and all second…IMO their goal was questionable the least as Gibbs actually backed off and their player just dived/tripped himself, regardless the set piece defending from us is still horrendous. Our penalty…ok I am really not sure if the corner was or not as Italian sky channels cameras angle didn’t cover well who touched the ball last b4 it went out,the replays clearly prove that there was A LOT of shirt pulling against giroud so yes it’s a penalty.
our second was a well played goal it looked like from managers book, really well executed.
Third, well Theo was offside but again,I thought we deserved some fortuitous decisions/mistakes by ref as we’ve been on the receiving end of those way too many times in past 3-4 seasons, just look at man u record regarding those for example…

All in all it was fair result as we should have scored 4 before we conceded…so yeah,oh and regarding Ramsey, last year I was really frustrated with his play but this season he seems to use his head much more, cut off mostly those backheel passes and really plays well,I stopped complaining about him I realised, come to think of it and find that he is probably most consistent CM this year in our team…

A linesman got the call right yesterday and the scum pundits were belating him. Torres was held by Company & they say the referee missed it and should have been a pen

  146. rico says:

Think I’ll stick to water Ts…

That’s the pundits for you emma but aren’t we used to it by now??

  147. allezkev says:

Arsenal, paying £30 million for Gotze?

Yeah, sure, of course they will…

And the moon is made of cheese.

Yep, we’re gonna sign Falcao for £40 million as well.

And why we’re at it, why not bring in Cavani and Lewandowski…

    I believe it all, I really do…

Btw, is it almost time to re-new season tickets by any chance???

    Bullshit. Lata.

  148. tsgh says:

Sections of Newcastle fans attacking police and Sunderland fans …classic or disgraceful I should say especially in 2013…

  149. Joaquim Moreira says:

    allez, if not Benfica can
No matter if Benfica don’tay to everyone and everything, except the players.

  150. rico says:

We don’t need all those attacking players Kev – just two would do 😉

Hope all is well in the City…

  151. Joaquim Moreira says:

After Víctor Valdés (Barcelona) and Asmir Begovic (Stoke City), goalkeeper Rene Adler, of Hamburg, is the latest candidate to strengthen Arsenal next season.
According to the newspaper ‘Sunday People’, the signing of German international, 28, will be entertained in London for investment imply a smaller scale when compared with the acquisitions of Spanish or Bosnian.
René Adler arrived this season to Hamburg from Bayer Leverkusen

  152. allezkev says:

That’s right Adam, Gotze is a bit far-fetched, but the lunar cheesey part has a ring of truth.

Rico, it’s a bit slow in the City today. But then I am in the pub… 😀

  153. rico says:

Good for you Kev, I would say have one for me but I’ve had my quota for this month…

    Thanks to the HHCC 😉

  154. Adam says:

Terrible news. My friend who sits behind me at the Emirates, who Kev has met, was running in that marathon today.
    Life is cruel sometimes.

  155. rico says:

I’m off for the day folks, have a good evening all…

Night Kev, Adam, JM, Ts and anyone else reading….

  156. Scott from Oz says:

    Morning all.
Athletes in prime condition are just not meant to go like that..incredible.
I guess it shows we can all be a ticking time bomb.
Can anyone confirm or deny for sure whether we actually placed a 30 million plus bid for Goetze a year or so back?
That story came from Germand and English sources, so had some credibility at least.

  157. Scott from Oz says:

Rumours are flying around that Rooney is headed to PSG.
More and more aources are reporting that we are definitely going after Gotze.
How long til the transfer window opens lol

  158. Scott from Oz says:

    Maybe, Rico, and good morning.
Utd do they have that little boy inside 🙂
Falcao….i don’t know much about him off the field.
Is he a trophy hunter or cash chaser?
He is definitely a guy who would improve us immensely.
An incredible striker, though just a dream for us, unfortunately.

  159. rico says:

I only know he’s an awesome striker Scott, don’t know what drives him on…

I guess we’ll find out in the summer…

  160. Scott from Oz says:

I read today a quote from Wenger syaing he is spending a lot of time with Podolski working on playing central.
    Interesting, i reckon.

  161. Adam says:

I hope it isn’t a sign that a central striker of impeccable quality will not be arriving. I had thought that Podolski would be on his way out. Perhaps not.
