Gervinho off to Lyon? Stop for one minute Gooners & Arsene promises to spend big!

Morning all,

I spotted this on NewsNow yesterday and had to share, just in case you missed it.

Gervinho is reported to be off to Lyon in the summer for €14 million, have a read here.

Had to be done.....
Had to be done…..

Actually, how we didn’t finish up yesterday laughing at ourselves I don’t know.

As a unit I thought we were awful for a lot of the game but Koscielny was absolutely awesome from start to finish. How fitting that he finished his chance in front of goal much better than our ‘I want to play central’ player did later on in the game..

Ramsey too put in a good shift, he took a couple of nasties, this one of them…

Could have been nasty....
Could have been nasty….

However, no point in moaning and groaning, we wanted three points and we got them, now it’s all about what we as a club do to stop something like what we witnessed yesterday happening again next season.

We got lucky, we got 4th place but clearly, others ‘below’ us are getting stronger and stronger each season and they again will be all out to close that ‘gap’ we have for so many years bragged about.

The debts are lessening, the income is increasing and a few players who are earning hefty salaries are on their way out. No doubt over the next few weeks those names will no doubt be confirmed…

Here is what Arsene Wenger said after the game:

In the last three months, I believe we have been remarkably consistent. We won every away game so it’s a good springboard for next season, to transfer that belief into the start of next season.

That means we need stability and to strengthen our group if possible. There are many clubs out there with a lot of money so the competition is very hard.

There’s not as much talent as money today in football.

There cannot be any ‘if possible’!

No more false hopes, no more spin, no more empty promises.

Arsene Wenger is reported to have gone on and said this:

The last three months are a springboard for next season, we have to transfer that belief into the start of next season.

We need stability and to strengthen. Is it spending a lot on one player or buying many players?

We want additions but we want to keep the structure and spirit and quality of the team.

Let’s not forget there are many clubs with big money and not enough talent to strengthen all the teams. But we will go out in a proactive way.

That’s a bit more promising.

Proactive, well I hope that means that the looking and talking doesn’t begin here, I’m hoping all that started months ago and all we have been waiting for is the season to end, with us getting a top four place.

Well we have it, now for Ivan Gazidis and Arsene Wenger to go and do some serious business this summer.

That’s it for another day, have a good one…..

  1. Jackie Butcher, Orpington says:

well done boys fantastic finish, just the boost we needed after all the negativity at the beginning of the season!! Looking forward to seeing Wilshire fit and well next season and of course our new recruits. IN ARSENE WE TRUST as always.

  2. Rammers says:

Nice post….no need for any of us to be anything but happy over yesterdays result, but that season is over, and we all need to look onwards and upwards……especially our boss.
Koscielny for skipper next season, and not because he scored but because he scored when we needed it, and has done it twice in a row.
The guy is an absolute weapon and goes about his business with no fuss.
What a player he is turning into!!

  3. rico says:

Not for me Rammers, leave him to play his football….

If Merts is staying which I fully expect him too, I’d give the armband to him…

    But, just my view…

  4. potter says:

Re T.W . I thought he did everything right apart from the finish. Needs to watch a few videos of how Wrighty or Greaves would have taken that. Sometimes the net is there to be busted.

  5. rico says:

Welcome JackieB, I hope AW makes some seriously good signings and AW gets his doubters back on side….

  6. rico says:

Oops, silly me. No Rammers, I am not posting personal photos, and that’s for your protection…

  7. rico says:

Not every quality footballer makes a great captain, just like not every great captain is a top class footballer…

I really hope Kos is left to quietly go about his business….

  8. graham clarke says:

Arsenal picked up 35 points since 1 Feb it took early part of season to sort out after players leaving projected would be up there with m u Ramsey has good engine but give the ball away to many times as for rest of post l think you know little about what you watch

  9. Ocho onche says:

Congrat to all arsenal fans,if u believe in urself self sky is ur limit.i am real happy for arsenal, but for spur hahahahahahahahahaha.

  10. Jay says:

Kosser the new T.A,build the team around him and the likes of Gibbs,Cazorla ,Ramsey .Bring in a few new players in the summer and we will be fighting for all the major pots. One good bit of news for Spuds fans they can cancel their Sky subs for next year they can get I.TV 4 for nothing on Freeview to support their team

  11. ozgunner10 says:

Arteta should be captain, he has proven it does not effect his game and he’s done superbly in moving position for the cause

  12. rico says:

    😆 Jay…

Ah, sorry Scott I thought you meant your photo. Do you have a url for the spuds one?

  13. potter says:

Not too sure how many games he will start next season to be fair Oz. We should be getting more of a season out of Wilshere and The Ox will not be a fringe player, we are likely to buy as well. Spaces in our midfield will be difficult to hold down next year quite rightly.

  14. ozgunner10 says:

hope the gerv rumours are correct it shows Arsene is giving up on these one day players – consistency is everything and that costs real money, so spend spend spend Arsene! Actually, how poor was Walcott again last night or was it just me?

  15. rico says:

You are on form Jay… 🙂

Oz, I’m not so sure Arteta will be one of the first names on the team sheet next season, but agree that he performs well with the armband…

Saying that, unless TV is sold, then I see no change… Unless TV asks to give the position up..

  16. Wavy says:

I’m an Arteta fan, for captain. A wise head on mature shoulders. He never seems to get phased and most of all, being capt, as he has been has not affected his form. He is the man!

  17. ozgunner10 says:

wow so many personal attacks Rico, are you sore yet? hahah Wonder why people feel the need to get personal so easily. Must have serious inferiority complexes

  18. rico says:

Theo was no worse than most imho Oz, think the nerves got to them all apart from Ramsey, Kos and maybe Gibbs/Merts…

Santi had a shocker, Rosicky tried to make things happen but others weren’t giving him an outlet..

Considering it’s the first time we have beaten a Pardew side away from home, not all was bad though 🙂

  19. Lee says:

graham clarke, I suggest you write a post and share your infinite knowledge….actually re-reading your comment best you don’t!!

  20. Lee says:

The internet really unearths some bellends, doesn’t it? Thought they were all locked up last night….

  21. rico says:

I still think he’s off Oz..

Won’t be long before we find all these things out…

Wavy, if it turns out that he’s the main man in midfield next season then yes, give him the armband I say too, but I’m hoping AW finally replaces Vieira/Diaby/Gilberto

  22. rico says:

    Broad shoulders Oz 😉

    Thanks Guys….

Lee it sure does, it’s a place where they can hide and be ‘clever…

  23. englishmik says:

Top 4 is better than a trophy. Would you prefer League Cup and no Champions League or how about FA Cup and no Champions League. I’m sure being winners of League Cup would attract lots of talent to play for Arsenal. (unfortunately all from Championship and lower) Gooners, please stop this quest for the unimportant. There are 2 trophies, Premier League Title and Champions League Trophy. You have to in it to win it.
We have done fantastically well against teams with bottomless pockets and no regard for fiscal sanity.
Arsenal are acclaimed for being the perfect buisness model, yet have still managed to compete. Look at our competition.

Manchester United – New Manager – Not used to having funds to spend – Wayne Rooney pissed off for not being golden boy any more (thanks RVP) Owners trying to take not give. Maybe at a crossroads (is this why Fergie retired)

Manchester City – Again a good manager fired – Totally Dysfunctional team – New Manager in ? – Lets start all over again.
Put your left foot in put your left foot out do the hokey pokey and shake it all about.

Chelsea. – The return of Jose Mourinho, the special one (I thought special meant retarded) Lets all fear Jose who with the amazing talent assembled at Real Madrid featuring Ronaldo, Mesil, Benzima, Cassillas, Sergio Ramos to name just a few couldn’t do shit this year. Roman & Jose you deserve each other. Can’t wait to watch another Chesea team ripped apart. Bye the way, well done Rafa for what you have done to help this dysfunctional team.

Arsenal – Same manager, same football concept. Have a team that likes to play with each other. Have a faboulous academy, have a possible 5 players ready for England team. Due to loosening of financial constraints have money to build the squad. No mercenaries only players who believe in Arsenal.

Where is your money on Premier League 13/14

  24. Xr!s says:

I was so happy with Kozzer’s finish. He did it like Berbatov. People here criticized the FT celebrations but who cares? We’ve got our minimum target but I hope we get our maximum transfer targets. I read Jovetic’s signing will be announced soon

  25. Wavy says:

On a different tack, Wenger’s psychological congratulations for the ‘best ever squad of players he has ever had’ comment, I think the remark was intentionally barbed. By inference the top players who have left over the course of the last 5 years or so HAVE NOT BEEN MISSED! SO UP YOURS THE LOT OF YOU!
In the meantime I believe he thinks he has the core of a good, competitive squad, so he has bigged them up, and why not. Whilst they have had a few disappointments, on the whole we have been quite good fairly consistently.
Wenger believes, I think, that if he adds a couple of good players he will have a squad that could challenge for the top spot!
If I wore specs I wonder if they would be rose tinted?

Morning all. Happy Monday, and happy close season. Peace at last!

  26. rico says:

    TV Oz..

englishmilk – when did it have to become one or the other, top 4 and a trophy would be better…

  27. Rammers says:

Mik, if we buy the right players, we can most definitely give the league a shake next season.

  28. rico says:

Xr, I for one am chuffed to bits we got top 4, of course we would all prefer us to be higher, much higher but….

Now for the summer of change we have all been promised..

  29. rico says:

No Wavy, they wouldn’t be. 3 top players and this squad would go from being decent to darn good…

Add another two squads player, oik out the rubbish and who knows what we could achieve next season, but i’m sure it would be a whole lot better than what we have done this one…

  30. Bradster says:

    Morning all,

My favourite 2 months with no international tournaments to keep me sane.
I just hope it won’t be the transfer turmoil we have experienced for many seasons.

  31. rico says:

Hi Bradster, it’s going to be a good summer….

England are going whip the arses of the Aussie’s in the Ashes 🙂

  32. Tium says:

QPR stopper, Fabrigas and Song back, Mavilla must be short listed. One who can replace Ramsay is very very fundamental

  33. Rammers says:

Rico, all i can say is if you can’t beat us this summer, you never will again lol.
Our cricket side is in chaos.

  34. Rammers says:

Big statement i know, but if Kozzer stays healthy and with the club, he will end up being known as one of our best ever defenders.
    The guy is pure class.

  35. Bradster says:

Good win against NZ so I wouldn’t be surprised if england does pull one over the Auzzies.

I think we’re going to Pakistan in June so we’ll see how the new coach does.

  36. Bradster says:

Yep, the second in charge behind Gary Kirsten. I’ve never heard of him before so we’ll see how that goes.

  37. tsgh says:

    morning all,

    Nice post Rico…

I am glad a few on here are looking at the result for what it is. And the fact that the best ever totterscum team in rest times can’t still beat a mediocre team with a clueless unambitious manager says it all… now for the first time since 2007 we have a core of players who want to play for the club…

Even TV and Sagna who some fans think should move on looked chaffed that we made it to the high table of European football…

Personally, there are no facts to back the theory that TV is struggling with the weight of the captaincy… those who know a little bit about him know know he did a decent job at Ajax and he was the boss for Belgium too… Kompany has struggled this season too… players have bad seasons…

There is no way I am not going to mention Ramsey’s pure class and work ethics… a lot of people will choose to look at the odd 3 or 7 balls she gave away… 🙂 but his good or positive influence keeping Cabaye, Tiote, Anita and helping out Gibbs on Debuchy is so so classy…

This season he has faced the most extensive DM in work football and kept him quiet… Martinez

Then there is my 2nd faviourate player Kozzer… who put in a kaizer-like performanace with a goal I predicted he will score…

My favourite TR07 showed he is truly onje of the best and demonstrates why players like Gotze, Reus, Serge, Eisfield and even Ox say he is the specimen of a classy midfielder… shame he is carrying Abu Dhabi’s DNA

  38. frednerk says:

    Morning All.
Not to sure if getting onto the top four will see a change,
but finishing on top of the spuds is a must.
    Not knocking Pat Rice,
but I think the recent run had..S Bould/N Banfield,
    writen all over it.
I thought the team kept running, the whole 94 mins,
    And Kos covered every hole.
Not since the G Graham days have we got 10 behind the ball,
and holding on to 1 nil lead.
So well done wenger for that.
As said before, were not a million miles away,
wenger has to find the right players, better than we have.

Anyway to celebrate we have booked a holiday.
    To Kos.

  39. tsgh says:

Ha ha ha Rammer Scott… you know we both rate Aaron and Kosser… yesterday he carried the midfield and helped but Sagna and Gibbs who had little or no help from the wingers… saying that Theo was very good so no bashing from me… I even predicted Kozzer will score and Theo will score the winning goal but he let me down with the Gerv-like finish…

Now SC19 has to show me next season he can turn up in critical games… let the abuse start… 😉

  40. Rammers says:

    No need for abuse.
I always ask a player be given a season to settle right in to the PL, and it is no different with Santi.
He has been fantastic for us this season but needs to step up as do all our boys.
Natural improvement is not an unfair expectation.

  41. rico says:

I never heard of him either Brad..

Thanks ts, and I thought it was you who started the rumour about TV not being happy after Rvp left and he didn’t like being captain 😉

  42. kc says:

very very long time i commented…happy with the fight shown by the team in the last three months….hopefully we will see more of that next season

  43. rico says:

    fred.

A lot of credit has to go to AW , Bould & Banfield for getting us that top 4. I agree.

Imho, AW stood back and realised our defence was a mess, just maybe he did hand SB/NB the job of sorting it out and its worked..

But my gripe is why did it take so long for that to have happened. Also, I’m glad that certain players didn’t walk straight back into the side after injury, and others were dropped when playing poorly..

  44. kc says:

as a 20 year old MAN, this is my best arsenal season in the sense that i never missed one single match except the coventry game which was not shown..im still drunk from the celebration…hopefully mum will never interupt my watching of the best team in the world again

  45. kc says:

    rico,
pls do you have any inside source that tells about the club plans..im a good follower of LG and think Pedro look as if he has one…just to confirm what he said he been told

  46. rico says:

I don’t kc. I read LG most days and today’s post is very interesting…

Pedro doesn’t make stuff up just to look good, he knows his stuff.

Tbh, all the money side is common knowledge, I think he is right, if we don’t spend this summer it will be down to the manager. But, he wants a new contract I suspect, maybe he’s been saving the money ready for this big summer…

    Fingers crossed…

  47. kc says:

maybe the 5-5 we saw with man u yesterday is a sign of things to come….anyone like lukaku..what a beast

  48. rico says:

Have a feeling he could be up for sale Kc, can’t see Mourinho giving him a chance..

Yes, I’d love us to sign him, but Mourinho wouldn’t allow that I suspect…

Back to my chores, on and off for a bit…

  49. allezkev says:

Potter makes a good point about the armband/Arteta.

I’d also give the armband to BFG. Not least for his organisational skills…

But my opinion is worthless, when compared to the the mental giant that is Clarke…
    Genius, pure genius…

  50. rico says:

    We could try Rammers 😉

Afternoon JM, happy with both Arsenal and Porto….

Me too Kev, I take it you don’t mean Clarke Kent 😉

  51. kel says:

well it wasn’t a great performance from the boys, (except kos) but who cares we got the result we needed, as for the muppets having a we dig at us for celebrating 4th spot i can just imagine newcastle or spurs getting 4th it would have be carnival time ffs. fair enough its not a trophy but if i had to choose FA/League cup or the CL i’ll take CL every time, maybe we can get both next yr who knows. oh rico/scott… giroud & pod 22 league goals between them, not quite 30 😉 right off to work now to rub my spurs friends face in it hahaha..

  52. Micko says:

    Hello all,
Only 90 days until the new season kicks off, what we gonna do with ourselves.
Must be a world of hurt for all those sad yiddo’s today, my heart bleeds for them.
Kel, shearer was very bitter and twisted on the box last night, he predicted we’d miss out on 4th spot this season only a few weeks back, he’s obviously taken it quite badly so much so that all his hair has fallen out !

  53. Rammers says:

Kel, i can categorically state that if Giroud wasn’t suspended for 3 games, then the other 8 would have been his 🙂

  54. agirlagunner says:

Shearer and that tight trouser-ing Redknapp and AVB and all those doom mongers who predicted that the Spuddies would finish above us cannot be enjoying their humble pie!

Gotta hand it to G. Neville, unlike Tight Trousers, he manages to be fair and spot on about his assessment of the club.

  55. agirlagunner says:

I thought our collective defending was immense in the closing minutes, Scott. I was half afraid of another “mental collapse; but our players actually held on to the ball. Imagine that!

  56. allezkev says:

    EnglishMik; some nice points mate.

    No Rico, not Clarke Kent…

There can only be one Clarke, Rico.

He has a monumental brain and, as Lee once again spotted (always on the ball is our Lee ) is the end of a bell….
Awesome, as Oliver would say, if he was here…

  57. Rammers says:

Hi Agag, our defence has held true of late, and yes, i think it because our guys up the pitch are putting in.

  58. rico says:

Hi agag, I seem to have the troll nack these days, that’s for sure 😉

Micko, always nice to get one over Shearer, I really dislike that git…

Oh, Hansen is set to leave MOTD next season… 🙂

  59. rico says:

Ha ha Ak, I guessed who you meant honest, my blonde roots didn’t get the better of me… 😉

  60. tsgh says:

Rico… me rumour starter? ha ha ha… I was saying he lost his head when he heard his Gilgamesh buddy had left…. 😉
    ———————————————–
And just for the record I rate SC19 highly… I just haven’t seen him play well in a big game or against a top opposition in club football since 2008…. 😉 And this is coming from a guy who watched him because of Bobby and Riquelme at Villareal before he joined Arsenal

Hi Agag, I thought you would be a lover of Jamie tight-pants…

  61. allezkev says:

I cannot see Arsene spending anymore than £30m, all this £70m nonsense, is a media invention.
Of course if Wenger sells a couple of players, then his total spend could top £30m, but that’s his ‘warchest’, I suspect.

  62. tsgh says:

Rumours has it that De Boer is moving to Barca…

and Rafa is on his way to RM if Carlo is not prized away…

  63. W.A.T.H says:

Kel, if the yids had finished 4th the DVD would already be on sale in the club shop…..!

  64. rico says:

Agree with that pundit round up agag…

I wouldn’t have believed that from the way you comment on him Ts… 😉

Ak, you have spent too much time in the company of Adam 😉

  65. tsgh says:

Ak, I also believe he will spend £30M – £35M maximum and then 10 million on salaries for the new buys and Sagna…

Arsenal are going for the lean mean look instead of the million and one conscript approach…

  66. agirlagunner says:

Scott, I think when everyone puts in a shift, the results follow.I think Giroud and Poldi have had a fairly good first season and I would never knock them, but we clearly need a more clinical striker.

rico, those trolls should hang out here long enough, before making judgments. But then again, they are trolls. 😉

    Hiya, Micko and AK. 🙂

  67. Micko says:

tsgh, I heard the other day Mourinho is the longest serving manager in la liga now, talk about a merry-go-round, could be talking bollox mind ya.

  68. tsgh says:

he is Micko if you are talking about single club… up until he was red carded on friday…

Manolo Preciado, formerly of Sporting Gijon was but was sacked…

  69. allezkev says:

    Hiya Agag.

Adam it is truely Nutters Day + 1…..

Ginge, I have done a post on that subject, but I think Rico has lost it… 😉

  70. George says:

    Afternoon all,

Will be interesting to see if the board put their money where their mouth is. Long pockets , short hands again i suppose. I thought we played heroically and as long as we get a few heroes turn up on the day and the team put in a shift for one another then the results should put us where we belong.

We can’t turn over Bayern Munich away and be gutless against Bradford and Blackburn.

The gaffer has been very supportive of some very sub standard players.

For me there are 2/3 who the boss persists with , which have done too little too late.I like Diaby as a player, but he plays 4 games a year, waste of money and squad place. Our 4 strikers who are wasters NB52,shisha,AA23 and Park, none have futures , nor have anything to offer for a while now. Goalies, while flappers haas been better recently, he and Mannone are not good enough, why persist because they are young? chubby

Maybe time is up for Coquelin and Miguel. I know they are young but they are not really making star strides.

Maybe its time to see if Miyachi is ready, Joel Campbell as well? And there is Akpom, Gnabry and Afobe who up front could help out LP and OG.

We know he will shell out some money, but as always we let a few go to balance the books.

I won’t miss Gervinho, or the other freeloaders , who thankfully are out of contract.

It will be interesting to see what happens to Frimpong. He hasn’t really shown the same performances pre injury at Fulham.

I really hope we don’t sign the chubby brazilian from QPR. We have had our share of overweight brazilians..

Its us versus the chavs next year for the title. The Chavs , followed by the oil clubs will nab all the superstars. we may only sign a Sanogo…lets just hope we don’t allocate our wage budget to Carthorses with the first touch of an 8 year old.The club would be best served paying a tidy amount to 2/3 world class players rather than using the budget to have 10 fairies who won’t make it and are solely purchased to be re-sold at a higher value after donning our shirt.

Rico, where did all these Burkes come from ? GunnerDNA’s mob? or Sour Spurs fans? Ain’t your fault their team is pony lol

  71. allezkev says:

Lee, by £30m, I mean that’s what AW would/could spend without the need to sell…

He could spend £70m, but he would probably have to raise £40m with sales.

That’s why Rooney rumours are bollox imho…
    Sorry boss… 🙁

Top quality forward has to take up the majority of that money.

  72. Micko says:

Hi agag, how’s you, agree re Podolski, if he was playing against the blue and white stripes of Argentina yesterday instead of the black and white stripes of Newcastle we may have seen a different animal.
Needs to come out firing next season.

  73. tsgh says:

    nice post George…

But I do not rate Mauren and will never do…. Diego Simone is the new special one… Jose knew he was losing against Athletico for the first time in a cup and deliberately got himself sent off… the last part is from my lil twisted mind btw… 😀

    Ak, will you welcome Lukaku…?

  74. George says:

agag/ Micko , Podolski needs to work on his speed , not just pace but speed of reaction to the pace of the Premier League. He fares well internationally as International football is allot slower. A strict diet or sprint training with Theo might help him shift as few pounds. Note he did look a bit on the heavy side around Xmas and only recently is he looking leaner..

Like most we need a 25 goal striker, no matter what cost.the others can wade in with their 15 goals if we are to be contenders and a decent goalie no1, or a decent no 2. Chezzer can be either.

BFG for captain, as he collects the club fines no probs lol

  75. tsgh says:

Ak, in my opinion he is no Cavani 6 goals in 2013 or Falcao but he will work his socks off… that is what we need at the moment… AW and Boro can turn any peg into a creative midfielder… but as much as I like Poldi… his coach at Bavaria Juup is and was right… he does not work hard enough.

As much as I would love Lewandowski… we are unlikely to have him…

WATH rates Yilmaz of Gala… and I think he is interesting…

  76. allezkev says:

Blimey Adam, you did well there mate.

The M11 has never been a favourite of mine tbh…

How’s the Bridge of Sighs riff coming along?

    And don’t forget, the grass needs a trim… 😛

  77. George says:

thanks Ginge. Lukaku is going back to th chavs but he is a tidy player. Can’t we try and nab Torres or Michu? We have tried the beast approach(remeber julio baptista wtf ?!?!?)

  78. rico says:

    You were meant to Adam…

I for once disagree, I think he’ll spend big. Other than those we want to see the back of I think TV and Sagna may go….

  79. tsgh says:

George…. Julio the beast could have been the best DM since Rijkard but he thought he could be Romario… another player who thinks he should be playing in a position he is not good at…

Mauren is getting Ronaldo and Cavani so Lukaku would need another club… Michu for £7m I will take but swansea will want £15M or more but imho…. he looks like a one season wonder… Benteke is another option

  80. tsgh says:

Hmm, you make a very valid point Ak… mauren would rather keep a player than sell him to AW… spiteful lucky man he is…

  81. agirlagunner says:

Hello, WATH and Adam. 🙂 Taking off from Kev, I hope you gents are less “miserable” today. 😛 😛

Ginger, I take umbrage at that Tight Trouser comment. I could never like him. Nothing he ever says is meaningful or original. 😉

Micko and George, Poldi and Giroud will come good. Not a spectacular season, but a few crucial goals. And Pursey’s boots are a difficult size to fill. Theo certainly knows how to run, so I agree, he could give them a few tips.

  82. tsgh says:

I for one I am tired of AW buying players who play with a smile on their faces…

We need some nasty vermin like Pursey leading the line…
    —————————————————–
I use to like Manuel joing $hitty until he started to drop strikers and played Isco as a striker…

  83. George says:

Rico , if we get good money for BAc, fine…TV5 should stay and fight for his place. ~If he’s a true champion he will up his game and be a true professional. When Kozza ‘s form dipped he worked hard , and his improvement is immense. Competition is healty and we will play 60 games odd next season, we need 4 world class CB’s not 3, 2 in form and the odd dud..

here’s hoping we get an easy draw in the champs league. Some norwegian team would do nicely..

@ AK 2.19, spot on, Lukaku is Drogba Mk II for “ilovemyselfMourinho”

  84. tsgh says:

    Apologies Agag… 😀

Lee, Pink boots Bendtner injured himself 5 minutes after coming on against Samdoria last weekend… a bit of what you said too… he fancies himself so much… lol

  85. Adam says:

Kev. As soon as I slipped into my red velvet cat-suit the Trower riff came back to me. 🙂
M11 was good today. Forty five minutes there, a chat and a coffee and the same back.

  86. allezkev says:

Akpom, Gnabry and Bellerin could all move up-to, in and around the 1st team squad…

Miquel still has a future I believe, defenders mature later than midfielders and forwards. And Yennaris could also make progress. We could be pleasantly suprised by the inclusion of some more home-made talent into the mix for next season.

  87. agirlagunner says:

Adam, I see you’re feeling celebratory and took out the red velvet cat suit for some fashion mileage. Eeeek. 😛

To be fair, George, Theo knows all types of runs (runs that scare the hell out of defenders as much as the headless chicken variant). 😀

  88. frednerk says:

Hope your all wrong about who the next captain is,
I hope we buy one,a leader centre half or centre midfield,
some who will stand up for our young players.

    Rico,agree
by leaving TV and Gervino out,we looked more compacted.

    Regarding the transfer kitty,
    when asked,
Wenger said: Is it spending a lot on one player or buying many players?

    Err we go again.

  89. George says:

AK, Yennaris could do the job Le coq was meant to . Although a decent deputy at RB and too short to be a central mid, not skillfull enough to be a right winger , he is clever enough to don a DM job. I think he is ready.

Bellerin is a better 2nd choice RB and Jenks could replace Bac who has improved of late but expected to depart. Akpom is scoring for fun but , like Gnabry need a loan in the premier league to see how they fare. Maybe Steve Clarkes West brom or Swansea would be a good place for them.

  90. rico says:

A friend of mine reckons we could get £8 million (I think) for Sagna, I’m not so sure…

Pick up any tickets Adam? 😉

  91. allezkev says:

Adam, I gotta say, you look amazing in that catsuit…

Agag is the only other person who I think could look as good as you in a catsuit….

Hiya George… My thoughts re: Lukaku, entirely…

Rico, it’s kinda mystic, don’t ya think? 😉

Regents Park is a very relaxing place to sit and blog, but I have to go back to work… Lata, you happy people… 😀

And lata Wath, you miserable sod… 😉

  92. Adam says:

No Rico. The white beast was kept strictly at 70mph.
Agag. Kev and I both wore our cat suits when we went to the restaurant last night. Mine was red and his was electric blue. Mrs Adam walked some distance behind us. If I say so myself, we did look pretty good.

  93. rico says:

fred, silly me, I forgot Gerv too, he can go….

Don’t know what you mean agag 😉

    It is Ak, drive safely…

  94. agirlagunner says:

Lee, things I now know about Mrs Adam: loves to shop; loves, unconditionally; loves champagne; and guts and gore. What n intersting lady! How is Baby Lee and Mrs Lee’s “shoe cupboard”? Hope you’re helping her fill it with good stuff. 😉

  95. Lee says:

New pairs keep appearing Agag, when I notice them Mrs L says “They’re really old shows how much notice you take…..”
Where are you going in the Maldives? I’m really jealous of you!

  96. Jay says:

Just been announced that Bendtner needs a wrist operation. No snide remarks guys regarding just what you thought his problem was.

  97. agirlagunner says:

Oh, so you’re bein given the “Oh, this old thing line… ” Haha. I’m impressed, Mrs Lee. Not off until June; and just for a week. Got my plane tix on sale. 🙂

  98. agirlagunner says:

    RIP, Mr. Coleman. 🙁

Lee, off somewhere in the South Ari atoll. Fancied a ride on a seaplane. 😉

Jay, I could care less about Bendy; I just wish we could get rid of him.

  99. kel says:

Micko, I also though shearer was bitter the twat myself!
Rammers. If only them. 3 games were against Reading lol 😉
Wath. Lol yes M8 the spuds would be lined up now to buy the DVD. With sky sports following the story.
Rico, keep the money put it in the swearing jar im sure I owe it a few quid from the other night 😉

  100. agirlagunner says:

Did you stay at W?? My friends were there last year, and the staff were Filipinos, so they got celebrity treatment! 🙂

  101. Adam says:

    You Maldives people!
Southend On Sea for me. Cockles and whelks by the old Kursaal and a ride along the pier for me and Mrs Adam, wearing our Crocs. Perhaps a stick of Candy Floss. That’s real living!!
    🙂

  102. agirlagunner says:

Now, you’re getting me excited about Southend on Sea, Adam. 😉 Matchymatchy red Crocs??. 😛

Niiiiice, Lee. 🙂 You, posh, you. 😉 The W in Bali is also lovely; lots of English honeymooners when I was there. But hotels/villas almost anywehere in Bali are stunning. If I don’t get to spend NY in Puerto Rico, I’m targeting the W in Koh Samui in January. I hope I get to save enough. 🙁

  103. Lee says:

That’s the one I’ve got with him….he delivered the cash whilst sporting the red catsuit!

  104. Micko says:

Call me a scrooge but if you wanna see the world, why not just buy an atlas, works for me.
George, can’t be as simple as a few runner beans can it, some good points re Poldolski, agree about the 25 goal a season striker, if we don’t buy one this summer we never will.

  105. agirlagunner says:

You shall henceforth be Scrooge, Micko. 😉

I’m rethinking that loan, Lee. I like Adam enough NOT to want to see him in a catsuit. 😀

  106. Adam says:

£1264 is what they want from me for next season’s Season Ticket, or should that be Seasonal Torture?. Double that for Mrs Adam and me and I need to give it some thought this time round.

  107. Jay says:

Just caught the you tube clip of the Spuds fans celebrating when they thought Newcastle had scoredii have actually pissed myself laughing when I clocked the two mingers with the bingo wings screeching like a couple of looneys.Ibet they thought even we could get a shag tonight

  108. rico says:

For anyone who has ever tried to type from a text….. You know how I feel right now…

    Thanks Ak 😆 😆

  109. agirlagunner says:

    Jay, you’re cruel. 😀

And the cull contines. Eastmond is off. Come on, Arsenal, get rid of more. 😉 rico, it’s tough typing from a phone, eh?

  110. Jay says:

Adam I still wonder who started that rumour ,the story is that it was Alan Sugar,At least the guy has a sense of humour

  111. rico says:

At bloody last, Eastmond has gone!

Now that is worth toasting, more so than the day Randall left us….

  112. devilgunner says:

    Good evening Lady and Gentlemen.

Nice article Rico. Except for one thing. Shame on you but why should you fail to mention that the Spuddies are the most consistent team since 1995??

Why should you always take the mickey out of them?

    Its not fair ain’t it.

You should have said that it they go to extreme lengths to manage to finish always behind Arsenal. That is the sort of consistency you should have mentioned.

Imagine always trying your best and manage to achieve a placing behind Arsenal since 1995.

That is difficult. And we always complain why we finish with 4th/3rd place trophy.

    😆

  113. devilgunner says:

    Ahh there you are!!!!! 😉

    Good evening Lady.

Sad news about Tommy Coleman. At least his last 17 years have been spent above the scum.

Seems as if the cull has already begun. Good to see.

Maybe we can sign serious players instead.

It hurts me a bit when youths from the academy go missing. However if they are replaced with quality and I mean GOOD QUALITY then it is surely for the better.

For me, being a youth coach it tends to be a bit depressing when you see young ones being shown the door, especially if you had spent quality time with them. However you can be sure that they had sound education which can stand them elsewhere.

Yes they might not be good enough for Arsenal but clubs who sign them will benefit from sound technical players who have been taught well.

According to italian sites the Jovetic deal is as good as done. EUR28million . The news will be made official by the end of this week.

  114. rico says:

    Good evening devil and all..

I doubt the academy players would be going if they didn’t have a future…

What I find more interesting is why now, and who is behind this sudden clear out…

I’m not convinced it’s been initiated by Arsene Wenger…

  115. devilgunner says:

I am asking the same question myself Rico. Why and who is behind this sudden clear out??

I have also read somewhere that the FFP allows for a 4% increase in wages every year. That means for example, say, the scum’s wage bill is 60 million. So in essence they can increase it by just 2.4million. So they cannot keep the same players and sign someone who will be on 5 million a year. they have to clear out someone whose wage packet will make way so that they can sign that player.

Maybe this is why AFC littered us with so many low level players so as to inflate their wage bill up to over 120million so that the accounts show that amount. they can increase it by 5 million and when they clear out the deadwood they can sign a less amount of players for bigger wages.

That is why maybe the club had over 70 pros on board.

suddenly there is going to be a mass clear out.

  116. rico says:

    I think it’s Stan and Ivan devil….

It’s finally done Ak, i had someone read it and i typed… phew, it was tough 😉

  117. devilgunner says:

IT’S official — Stoke ARE the dirtiest team in the Premier League.

Frustrated Potters fans turned on boss Tony Pulis this season for sticking to long-ball, in-your-face football.

Pulis insisted that his side’s style was changing, but SunSport can today reveal they are as niggly as ever.

The Britannia bad-boys topped the top-flight’s Foul League with a team total of 485 offences.

And that was 15 more than West Ham and Mancester City, who were joint second with 470.

Most damningly, though, not a SINGLE Potter made it into the top-10 list for most fouls committed — meaning they were all at it!

Stoke also picked up more yellow cards than anyone else after collecting a bone-crushing 78 bookings.

They were the only side in the Premier League to average more than two yellows a game.

Unsurprisingly, Pulis’ side were crowned champions of the Dirty League, which takes into account fouls conceded, red and yellow cards.

  118. Lee says:

We’re clearing the decks and finally addressing our exorbitant annual wage bill, in order to buy what is required to make us a footballing power house! Amen, here endeth the lesson!

  119. George says:

AK/ dev …there might be something in it as per dev….inflate the b ooks to bend /manipulate the FFP??

  120. devilgunner says:

And that has come from The Sun……a well known toilet rag which glorifies clubs such as SRFC

  121. devilgunner says:

Arsenal have earned £12,836,054 for where they were placed on the Premier League table after the final day of the 2012/13 campaign yesterday.

The fourth place finish – a minimum requirement for a club of Arsenal’s stature – was enough to not only secure the much coveted chance of playing Champions League football but also add some weight to Arsene Wenger’s transfer war chest this summer.

The sum of nearly £13 million – the average amount of fees spent on summer signings Lukas Podolksi and Olivier Giroud – could even be worth a new signing for the Gunners. But this is only part of the payments to be made by the Premier League.

The prize money for finishing fourth does not include earnings from the lucrative BPL TV rights deal which could take the total income to around £56 million.

Here is the table of who earned what this season.

    1. Manchester United – £15,101,240
    2. Manchester City – £14,246,178
    3. Chelsea – £13,591,116
    4. Arsenal – £12,836,054
    5. Tottenham – £12,080,992
    6. Everton – £11,325,930
    7. Liverpool – £10,570,868
    8. West Bromwich Albion – £9,815,806
    9. Swansea City – £9,060,744
    10. West Ham United – £8,305,682
    11. Norwich City – £7,550,620
    12. Fulham – £6,795,558
    13. Stoke City – £6,040,496
    14. Southampton – £5,285,434
    15. Aston Villa – £4,530,372
    16. Newcastle United – £3,775,310
    17. Sunderland – £3,020,248
    18. Wigan Athletic – £2,265,186
    19. Reading – £1,510,124
    20. Queens Park Rangers – £755,062

  122. Adam says:

I think Spurs should only get £27.50 as they are so representative of all that is appalling in the world of football.

  123. rico says:

Oh well, it’s getting late, my chickens need locking up for the night and I need to sign off..

Nighty Adam, Lee, Devil, George, Ak and anyone else who is reading……

    Catch up tomorrow…

  124. devilgunner says:

tsk tsk. they should pay all the premier league team for putting up with them not receive compensation or prize money.

    I am off now.

    Gd nite my friends..

  125. Rammers says:

    Damn right i am George.
They stuck their chin out AGAIN early on by saying they are the better side, so deserve everything they get 🙂

  126. allezkev says:

    Well done Rico.
    Another text post pending… 😀

George, am gonna have a look around and see if there’s anything on the AST.
Ursmanov could be a subject for discussion?

    Goodnight Gooners…

  127. Lee says:

***Press Release*** Tottenham Hotspur have revealed plans to change the clubs nickname. From the beginning of next season they will no longer be known as ‘The Spurs’. Instead they will be known as ‘The Dwarfs’. …. A spokesman for the club said ‘it makes perfect sense as we are always coming up short’!

  128. rico says:

    5.52 Lee. Hilarious…

    Morning to you and Adam.

Can’t believe you are mocking our future strikers choice of baby name 😉
