Gervinho back to France? Further Higuain talks & Should Wenger be given so much money?

Morning all,

Stewart Robson, since leaving Arsenal seems to have more to say about the club and Arsene Wenger than he ever did when he was employed by them. Many don” share his views, many really don’t like his views.

His latest:

Arsene Wenger doesn’t appear to want to sign the top-class players, or what other people would describe as top-class players.

He goes out and says: ‘I can buy you cheaper players for a better price who are going to be world-class players in the future’, but that hasn’t been the case in the last few years.

‘Some of the players who he has bought have regressed under him like Andrey Arshavin and Thomas Vermaelen. Nacho Monreal hasn’t been a good signing and Andre Santos has been hopeless for them.

Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski are past their best and Gervinho is another player who they spent a lot of money on and hasn’t really come to the fore.

That’s quite a statement but, love or hate the guy, isn’t this latest outburst merely echoing what most of us on here say and most of the time?

Personally, I disagree over Monreal, but the rest, well I struggle to argue against his view. Maybe the two Germans aren’t past their best, just a bit slow. Arshavin has now gone, Santos will hopefully soon follow and Thomas Vermaelen, well who knows whether he’s staying or going. My money would be on the latter.

Robson went on to say that Wenger shouldn’t be trusted to spend this summers transfer budget, in fear of more ‘hopefuls or ‘cheap’ signings being drafted in.

I guess what he’s really saying is Wenger should be sacked, another manager appointed and let him have the task of signing the big names.

Maybe being such a West Ham fan at heart, he’d like us to save ‘Arry and give him the pot of gold! We all know where would lead us, and yes, I was being ironic!

I for one believe this really is his last chance and if we don’t start the season much better off, looking like a proper squad who really can compete in the PL, then I pray Arsene Wenger isn’t offered a new contract.

On to the gossip:

Gervinho, who regardless of what Robson thinks, is still loved in France, and reports suggest Marseille want to take him on loan next season. That’s according to French publication Le 10 Sport. Surely if he is going anywhere, Lyon would be his best move and on a permanent deal. One that would see Clement Grenier go the other way.

Other gossip which seems to be in all the newspapers relates to Gonzalo Higuain. Apparently the player and his father Jorge, who is also the 25-year-old’s agent,  met Arsene Wenger in Paris and have held further talks in relation to a move to us this summer.

That’s about it.

Good luck to England in the ICC Champions Trophy, I hope they batter Australia….

Have a good day all, enjoy the sunshine because the rain is back soon…..

  1. TT says:

Myles on ANR says the Cesc to Arsenal is a done deal….if true I’d be over the moon. As for Robson I can agree with some of what he says, does not change the fact that he’s a twat though 😛

  2. Xr!s says:

‘Some of the players who he has bought have regressed under him like Andrey Arshavin and Thomas Vermaelen. Nacho Monreal hasn’t been a good signing and Andre Santos has been hopeless for them.’

That’s really a statement. It sounds bitter to me.

  3. rico says:

    Morning all

    That’s being kind TT 😉

Cesc a done deal, I’d be very surprised…

Xrs, he’s bitter, twisted and horrid but some of what he says makes sense….

  4. Jay says:

Robson is a bitter and twisted prat ,he is still angry after Arsenal dumped him from Arsenal tv.There is some truth in what he says, apart from Monreal who has only played a handful of games in the few months he has been with us.Robson was a headless chicken type midfielder ,always injured or suspended. He suddenly declared his love for West Ham ,and then spent most of his time there on the treatment tableHow he gets airtime beats me.

  5. devilgunner says:

    Good Morning Lady and Gentlemen.

Good summarizing post Rico. But why waste time, space and thoughts about what Robson thinks? There is a hint of vinegar smell in his comments. Shades of the hungry fox looking longingly at the nice bunch of grapes hanging from the unreachable branch.

Bitter people like him thrive on attention. And even I am squirming at the revolting thought that I dedicated a paragraph to his arse-anal views.

And even if what he says might have a hint of what others are saying I personally do not give a toss what he thinks. And I am not an AKB as you quite well know. I never liked that bitter two faced opportunity grabber, not even when he played for us.

  6. rico says:

Totally agree Jay, especially about the airtime, but then anyone who slates Arsenal will always get airtime….

Morning Devil, got to fill the post up 😉

It was just a quick piece early this morning before going out, so the best I could manage 😉

  7. eastsidepaul says:

TT I really hope he is right!
Like hearing that Wenger has been meeting with Higuain, lets get him.
    And Fellaini
That would be job done for me!

Nice post once again Rico. HH is constantly a step above the rest.

  8. devilgunner says:

Manure have offered 40 million for Cesc. That means that all AFC need to offer is just 21 million for him. That is 50% of the agreement they had which means that AFC get 50% of future transfer fee that Barca will get if they sell him. So 21 million is enough for him. Unless Barca want to forward half of that to us after a friendly handshake symbolising their sorrow at all that they have made us pass through during the past 10 years.

  9. devilgunner says:

Positive vibes in the air then…….even ESP is not being paranoid today. 😉

    joking Paul

  10. TT says:

I dont know if thats true that Manure have offered 40 million. Cesc holds the cards and I dont belive he will ever go to manchester.

He has an option on staying in Barcelona but his daughter and partner are in London…not up north so ..

  11. S2S says:

Hey Rico and all home and especially DG(long time no see):

@DG I especially remember you cause last season you said RvP is of and being a child Psychiatrist(Its your profession right) you knew what his inner child would be saying. And this season you are backing Rooney to join us and I hope you’re absolutely right about his inner child too. Love or hate you got to admire him and I think he likes being appreciated rather than thrown boots at and that is the reason he hate those Scotts as managers and would love AW.

  12. Scott from Oz says:

The only thing i can ever agree with that Stewart Robson says is good evening, and even then, he is only right half the time.
What an oxygen thief that prick is.
I doubt i could ever detest anyone in football more than this arsewipe.
I would love to grab his ears and slap a headbutt on him.
Sorry Adam….the eloquence lessons went out the door again 🙂

  13. Adam says:

Morning Rico. Myles Palmer took time off from looking in the mirror to let us know that Cesc is returning. I, for one, am grateful.
While Robson’s knob-like status leaves him open to righteous contempt, I do sniff the politics of envy, retaliation and bitterness in his latest pronouncements. It’s a fouls stench but then he does have the look of a bilious man these days with his bloated head, sunken eyes and miserly features. I think it’s best that we ignore him and leave the entrance to his stone uncovered to facilitate his swift return.

  14. S2S says:

    DG,

I think we’d not have to shell out a single penny. We’d just offer Cesc in exchange of Verm. And if Williams rumors are true that may be a possibility.

  15. tsgh says:

Absolutely rubbish comments by Robson ‘the twisted worm’… I was listening to talkshite driving to work yesterday morning when he made those comments… even Alan Stubbs tried to steer him away from making such baseless comments but hey…

How a supposed football expert can say the BFG is a bad buy makes me wonder…. I bet he would have preferred Cahill but in actual fact… apart from the English media and some fans who else considers Cahill better than the BFG in football.

Note, Kos and the BFG are considered the best defensive pairing in top football with less goals conceded 😉

Well Santos scored to take us to the CL against WBA the season before last… and even though he is a fat git he is better than Buttner so….

People may make fun of Le Squid now but he has played in CL and UEFA finals and won trophies. When he was bought those same experts thought he was a good signing due to his experience but… Also, before he joined us he was voted into LA liga team of the season…

Some buys just don’t work out!!

Fergie bought Kagawa for £18M and he sat on the bench… but I guess Vpursey won the league for Fergie so it does not matter…

Morning btw… too lovely a day to be discussing Robson. 🙂

  16. S2S says:

Rico, Dream on. If we have those three (I am still not convinced about Higuain though), then who will play defense?

  17. S2S says:

    tsgh:

Kagawa- 23M. And I think Cahill draws 120K which is more than what our highest drawer draws. And Poldi will win Golden boot next year. I am sure of that. First person to win that playing from wings.

  18. devilgunner says:

    Child psychiatrist???

Not exactly mate. I wish I was that high up but I just counsel children with difficulties. I refer them to the Psychiatrist if the situation is beyond me.

  19. rico says:

    Morning Adam..

So what are you really trying to say?? 😉 😉

    Hi Ts. It is.

S2S – I don’t understand where the defence bit comes in. Signing those two to add to Giroud would mean three strikers. That’s what we should have.

  20. S2S says:

Rico- It was a joke. Was trying to be funny. My bad.

DG: Okay. But I still remember you were so sure he was leaving last year. And he did. Hope the same for Rooney.

  21. devilgunner says:

Basically the site calciomercato.com are saying that IG has reached agreement with Higuain who will be joining AFC for 25 million at 150kpw.

    Still to be confirmed though.

  22. devilgunner says:

El Sharaawy to Shitty for 40 million.

    Are they mad or what?

With Navas, Sharaawy and maybe Isco they will simply turn into the what we were a couple of years ago when we were lightweight and scared of the opposition.

  23. emma says:

    Goodmorning folks,

It looks like Myles Palmer woke up on the right side of bed this morning. After castigating Wenger on his blog time and time again. The world must be coming to an end.

  24. TT says:

Dont think RvP makes any difference rico. Its his child and chance to team up with Wenger that appels to him at Arsenal he will start every game and be the main man.

Why would he want to play for Moyes? if SAF was still the manager then maybe…

  25. agirlagunner says:

Boooooo! Hello, all! 🙂 Still not sold on Rooney. I have spent far too much time actively disliking him to ever want him to be on our team… Higuain and Fellaini on board, now that’s more like it, AW. 😀

Robson is saying all these incendiary things because he wants attention. Pathetic.

  26. emma says:

Looks like Jovetic deal is dead. Injured his hamstring yesterday. Problem is he is injury prone otherwise a class player.

I hope we are not in for Shriek. Higuain is a natural finisher and I believe if Wenger signs him will be able to make him an all round player

  27. James says:

    I know it won’t happen…but wouldn’t this be orgasmic:

    Szcezny
    Sagna Mert Kos Gibbo
    Fellaini Wilshere
    Walcott Cesc Cazorla
    Higuain

That middle 3 could just switch and interchange to their hearts desire…

  28. devilgunner says:

If Higuain is coming then Rooney will not be in AFC colours next season. Unless Giroud and Podolski are going out. Or at least Giroud.

I cant see Giroud, Rooney and Higuain vying for the lone striker role.

My preference is Rooney. He would be ……wait for it…..LIKE A WOMEN SCORNED!!!!! 😆

  29. eastsidepaul says:

TT I couldn’t agree more on the 3 you have chosen!
That would be a fantastic summer. Once those 3 are in, maybe we spend a little on Cesar and Williams, just to round things off!

  30. allezkev says:

    Morning Gooners…
Morning Rico (when you get in from the garden) and bring that Fiver with ya. I’m still not convinced? 😉

Morning Adam. Yes I always take note of what that fine judge and coaching genius Stewart ‘I’m not bitter’ Robson says, on all things Arsenal. He has a unique view on things and is always worth listening to, and then forgetting about 2 seconds later… Loser!

Booooooooooooo Agag…. Did I make you jump? 😀

  31. devilgunner says:

  32. eastsidepaul says:

There are a few players that could really help some of the teams coming up! Gallas is one DG. I think he may be passed his sell by date for Arsenal though!

If Arsenal want Cesc back, there is no chance he could go to United, the media don’t seem to understand that. I feel he either stays at Barca or comes home!
(Fast forward 4 weeks when united unveil Cesc at OT and i’m sitting here crying into my cereal)

  33. devilgunner says:

When Manure sign Cesc remember that AFC will be around 21 to 21 million better off.

But I would prefer Cesc though

  34. agirlagunner says:

Hi, Dev. 😆 on Rooney and Congreve seem incongruous though. 😛

Hi, emma and esp. Kev, you made me jump out of my skin.

Ginge, where are you? Your wife’s birthday shoes are now on sale. 😀

  35. eastsidepaul says:

    Morning/afternoon AG!
I don’t think I could handle Cesc in a united shirt either, RVP was tough enough!
I think with the 3 we’re linked with now we really could go on a push for some major honours.

  36. tsgh says:

Hi Rico, and all the ladies of this special house.

Thanks s2s for the correction.I like your idea of Poldi as golden boot winner

Emma, I always said on here that Stevan was very injury prone.. Dont get me wrong he is very good but for that price…?.His injury record makes Diabolic and Gourchuff look like …

I prefer Ayew of OM, more consistent and almost as good as his dad Abedi Pele…

Hi Scott, Dev. Indeed $hitty are going mental.

IO still do not understand the signing of J Navas? But hey what do I know… 😉

I am yet to be convinced of Higuain especially at that price, I dont like Wooney but at least he works hard and will give every one associated with the club a lift…. and we never know AW may improve him and make him have a good WC 2014 in Brazil …

  37. tsgh says:

Hi Agag, your love on shoes is similar to AW love for Franco African players… 😀

And no mention of expensive shoes lady… I told my Mrs, since I got with her AFC has not won anything so it must be due to her 🙂

  38. eastsidepaul says:

Ha gringe I still blame myself for our loss in the 06 CL final.
I watched every game on one specific TV until the final when I was dragged out to the pub… I can still remember the paid of that night!

  39. agirlagunner says:

esp, surely, Cesc won’t break our hearts twice. As it is, I can’t even watch him playing for Barcelona. 🙁 🙁

I don’t get Citeh’s purchases either. Must be nice having so much money to burn. Ginge, I saw it on saksfifthavenue.com. 🙂 If you subscribe to their email, you’d get a coupon, and that’s an additional 10% off. Haha.. 🙂 Like, AW, I hang around bargain bins! 😛

  40. tsgh says:

Esp.. and that TH14 miss was it for me. But Giggs’s ‘carpet chest’ run against us in 1999 against our so called best defenders was the most painful moment under AW…

Its funny watching PV04 doing what we slated Denilson for… ie jogging back after giving the ball away….

  41. tsgh says:

Agag… your love of shoes reminds me of Harry in the transfer window…. 😛

On a serious note you always mentioning SAKS fifth Avenue made me think you lived in the US of flipping A. 😉

  42. tsgh says:

Agag, if AW shopped from SAKS… Lee and Adam will be very happy men… he is more sunday market with option to tailor fit…

Agag, 5th avaenue is too expensive… Harvey Nichols have similar slightly cheaper…

  43. Kevin KJ Downton says:

I beg all Arsenal fans to please stop giving airtime or credibility to the Arsenal hating Stewart Robson.

He is a West Ham fan that caused problems in their dressing room. Arsenal relieved him of his job on ATV because of his views. Bob Wilson slaughtered him for lies he was telling. Nobody likes him, expect TalkSport because they know he fits their Arsenal hating agenda.

He is no expert on football tactics or management. He was assitant manager at Rushden and Diamonds and cocked that up. He is a bitter and twisted nobody and I am sick and tired of him slagging off this great club.

Never mention him again and he will go away.

Seriously Rico, lets cal it a day on that prat.

  44. Kevin KJ Downton says:

    DG
Higuain is twice the player the over hyped Rooney is. And three times the player Jovetic is too. Higuain is top, top quality.

Forget that chain smoking chav Rooney. I have never liked sloppy seconds and thats what he is. He will bring the media circus with him along with his arrogant attitude.

Higuain, Fellaini and Cesc will be perfect.

  45. agirlagunner says:

Hello, KJ. Howdy? I think I can manage that. 😉

Ginge, the SFA shoe department was given by the City of New York it’s own zipcode, did you know?? That’s like one of the coolest things. Ever. 😀 10022-SHOE. 😉

  46. tsgh says:

Kj, GH stats at 28 games 16 goals may seem inpressive but he is behind Benzemaeven though the latter scored less goals….

I think he is a very good striker but the question is is he a target man capable of playing as the spearhead of our attack in the EPL or he will play on the RHS instead of Theo…

  47. Kevin KJ says:

    Hi Agag,
    Tgsh
Higuains record at RM is impressive. He has also scored some very important last minute goals, I think he won the 2008 title with one. He was the signing I wanted and lets hope it happens.

Higuain La Liga Goals for RM:

    2008-9 Pl 34. Scored 22
    2009-10. Pl 32 Scored 27
    2010-11. Pl 17. Scored 10
    2011-12. Pl 35 Scored 22
    2012-13. Pl 28. Scored 16

Pretty impressive and not always first choice.

  48. frednerk says:

We all know wenger runs arsenal,
    lock stock and barrel…..yer
He takes no notice of anyone..
    Buys who he wants….
    Pays them what he wants..
    Listens to no one..
    Lies to the fans..
    Helps out our rivals…
Stan leaves it all to him..yer
Going by most of our fans,
S/Robson is not music to our ears..is he.

But for me,someone has got to have a go.

    Just my opinion.

  49. tsgh says:

Impressive indeed… but his goals have been against the poorer sides.

My hesitation is that he is behind a very average Benzema… its not like Mauren-ho to favour a french boy over a better player? His stamina is very similar to Poldi.

For the Argentinians he is behind Aguero, Tevez and of course the Martian Messi when all are fit, so again it makes me question his work ethic… even Di maria gets more chances than him…

  50. Scott from Oz says:

Fred, if someone offers up a balanced opinion then that is fine.
    Robson…..balanced…..fair…?
    He is a cretin.
If an ex-Spud said what he says they would be universally condemned.
This guy has an axe to grind and should be treatd accordingly.
If we lose….we play like shit.
If we win…..the opposition play like shit.
Explain how and why we should ever listen to a man with this attitude.
As soon as i see him, i hear blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

  51. tsgh says:

That £25M tag will tempt BVB09 for Lewandowski as their fans will prefer he moved to the EPL thanmove to Bavaria

  52. tsgh says:

true Scott… its funny how when we were conceding goals AW was said to have issues with SB but from February onwards obson reckons AW allowed SB to take some training sessions…

We finished with the 2nd best defensive record and the best in 2013 but Robson still complaining…

What has been omitted from that interview is he reckons AW has made JW10’s career go backwards… this is the same man who until this season was the biggest basher of TW14…. the moment there was a contract issue he said AW does not want to play a world class Theo…

  53. Kevin KJ Downton says:

    Scott,
Agree. Higuain is pure class, his international record is good too, including a hat risk. He is just 25 too.

Amazes me how Robsons views are supported by a tiny minority of Gooners. Seriously, he has no qualifications and bases his opinion on his own bitterness. Even those in the hate Wenger camp should not want someone to keep slagging off the club, surely. I don’t get all the slagging off, I love this club and it pisses me off.

  54. rico says:

Sorry Kj, can’t pick and choose what is in the news and I can’t write just to please each day…

Ak, not a chance of me handing over my pennies yet, in fact if ever. Bets you put your fares up 😉 😉

Hello everyone, bit of a busy one in the garden…

  55. rico says:

Killing me more like Ts, it’s warm … Just came in for something to eat and drink… Oh, and to peep at the cricket score 😉

  56. tsgh says:

I just worked it out… Robson thinks if he bashes AW often enough M. Platini would create a role for him at UEFA… lol

  57. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, please, i was not having a go beacuse you included it.
I am having a go at anyone who supports this bastard.

  58. allezkev says:

Rico, if we do, by some absolute miracle, sign Higuain, Cesc and Fellaini, I will gladly hand over a Fiver and a bottle of Cava. But we have to get all three….

    Time for some K.A.T.

  59. rico says:

I know Scott and no worries..

Kj asked me not to give Robson airspace, just saying we can’t pick and choose what gets written….

    I can’t stand the k**b myself 😉

Lawn is for later Ts, bit or rain yesterday, sunshine today, it;s like the jolly green giant..

I know Ak, but deep down I know I need to be saving a penny a day 😉

Back to it for me.. Laters…

  60. frednerk says:

    Robsons bitter..yer..we all know that.
Wenger got him off the Tv channel..why

    Robson pointed out defensive mistakes,
    to us arsenal fans.

Is that balanced enough for you scott.

  61. Kevin KJ says:

    Rico,
I wouldn’t even mention SR’s name. Everyone on here, except one maybe, thinks Robson is a twat. He makes the same point over and over, it is boring. I would punch him in the face if I saw him and continue doing so until his looks improved. His mate Adrian Durham too. They behave worse than Spurs fans.

I notice Kev is trying to change the rules on your fiver bet. I suspect he knows he is heading for a massive dent in his finances.

  62. Kevin KJ says:

    Frednerk
Please leave out the support for Stewart Robson. Wenger did not get him thrown off ATV it was Arsenal fans. Just because you hate Wenger does not mean Stewart Robson is right.

  63. Scott from Oz says:

Fred, i never suggested you were not balanced mate…don’t go there please.
    I said that bastard isn’t.

  64. tsgh says:

Fred, it may have been 3 or 4 years late but we had the best defensive record in 2013 and 2nd in the league for 2012/2013… we also scored more goals than $hitty’s £200M strike force with our £40M one… things are improving… lets all hope it improves come August 😉

Credit needs to be given if deserved either by crediting SB and Banfield or AW effort… and criticize them or AW only when it is due to…

  65. frednerk says:

    KJ
    I dont hate wenger,
I would love wenger to stay..upstairs if pos.
My point is who will he listen to then…

    Not the fans….we know that.

  66. tsgh says:

Kj. its funny how SR claims AW chose IG, when most who want to accept the truth, know AW’s choice was Glenn Roeder and the Rangers CEO but Stan wanted an MLS representative… yes AW interviewed him with the board but it was probably only an exercise to see if both guys can work together 😉

  67. Scott from Oz says:

Wemger does not have to listen to the fans, he has to listen to his employer.
Stan should be listening to the fans.

  68. frednerk says:

    Scott,
Not sure if stan even knows,
if the ball should go over the bar or under it mate.

  69. Scott from Oz says:

ESPN have just announced Higuain is ours on their newfeed.
    Add it to the pile??
    Hope they are right though.

  70. NashuaGunners says:

    Good Afternoon Rico and All.

Cesc, Cesc, Cesc. Only on 1 condition; make it 2… No more back pass in the eighteen yard box and less visit to the treatment table or treatment room.

  71. Scott from Oz says:

    I know Fred.
I blame Stan for the club plodding along, looking for top 4.
He can demand Wenger spend and chase trophies but does not…he has that power.
To take it a step further, i blame those that opened the door for him in the first place.
    Bloody money!!

  72. tsgh says:

you have a point Fred… but that is assuming PHW was telling the truth that we had substantial funds to spend…

bear in mind that PHW and IG said last September after Schalke spanked us that 10 years ago, spending 10 bars on a player was big big money… they had obviously forgotten Rio, Anelka, Figo and Zidanes transfer fees… 😉

Putting that in context as a mere fan, it makes me wonder what substantial funds meant… not forgetting PV04 said in 2001 that DD told him Arsenal had big money to spend and he asked DD how much and he said £25M… PV04 told him that will be big if you shopped in lidl not harrods… 🙂

  73. potter says:

I posted this last night and taking into account PHW going and the possibility of Josh being appointed in his place couple this with the fact that Gazidis is basically Stan’s poodle . Is Arsene being slowly but surely set up.

    Any similarities here ?

Fast forward in George Karl’s career and now he is the coach of those Nuggets. He’s in the last year of his contract, his team wins 57 regular season games, and loses in the first round of the playoffs. Yes, he got the Nuggets to the playoffs nine consecutive years but that was the eighth time his Nuggets were ousted in the first round. His subsequent termination was expected by many.

The man who did the firing was none other than Nuggets President Josh Kroenke, son of owner Stan Kroenke.

Is this the big announcement ?

  74. frednerk says:

Stan won’t get any more of my money,
    my opinion is that,
only the fans can change the mindset,
of whats been dealt to us,
you only have to look at the germans,
    to see,
Arsenal fans have been ripped off

  75. NashuaGunners says:

I hear you Potter. Josh Kroenke will only make a difference If he demand success by asking AW what tools he needs to make us compete again… otherwise, it’s same old same old, business as usual.

  76. frednerk says:

    ts,
1 Million extra(3million) thats all fulham wanted,
    for Mark Schwarzer
couple of season ago, would have been a great signing.

  77. tsgh says:

Ng,I do like the Sth Americans but not as strikers…;)
I just think Higuain will not suit being a lone striker, unless we are going 4-4-2…
Strikers have to be Italians or Germans.Batistuta and the likes would have failed in this league.

Its funny how Suarez looks far better than Cavani at international level but most fans prefer Cavani…

  78. tsgh says:

That one was Hughes fault…Al Fayed had agreed a fee before that fool became Fulhams manager…
He wanted 4m and then 4.5 and then he was not for sale…

  79. Lee says:

We can be “linked” with all the top players on the planet but as in previous transfer windows, we make derisory bids and end up buying players like gerwanko or santos!
Stop talking the talk and start to walk the walk……

  80. devilgunner says:

Although Higuain is a step up compared to what we have, I still would prefer Rooney, yes with all his baggage. For that baggage includes……being English, has favour with the refs and rarely gets injured, would give us double figures regarding goals and has a high number of assists.

  81. Scott from Oz says:

Devil, i reckon most Gooners would agree.
Still, as you say, Higuan would be an improement, so all would not be lost.

  82. devilgunner says:

Imagine this attack…….Theo, Rooney, OX…..during some of the games. And rotated with Podolski, Giroud, Cazorla. That is 6 players for three positions.

And imagine Arteta,Aaron,TR07 rotated with Cesc, Capoue, Wilshere.

Obviously Diaby will be signed around January to rest fatigued players for the last 15 minutes of the game once every fortnight. 😉

It is sure that everyone will have his/her own combo. But its enough to make you salivate with the thought.

  83. devilgunner says:

Another comment…….Cesc left with many wanting him back one day. He thought that he left Song behind to play for his idol Pep. He went there, Pep left and voila……..Song was right behind him. No wonder he dipped in form.

He knows that if he comes back………..SONG WILL NOT BE ALLOWED NEAR THE EMS.

  84. eastsidepaul says:

My preferred line up next season if transfers go the way I would like them to.

    ————————Szczęsny———————-

    Sagna—-Mertesacker—–Koscielny——-Monreal

    —————Fàbregas——Fellaini—————-

    Walcott—————Cazolra————-Podolski

    ————————-Higuain——————–

    Subs:
    Cesar
    Vermaelen
    Jenkinson
    Arteta
    Wilshere
    Oxlade-Chamberlain
    Rosický
    Giroud

Promote a few players: Bellerin, Gnabry, Miyaichi and Eisfeld.

Buy in a couple of youth players: Ginter, Sanogo and Mitrovic.

That would do me nicely, great first 11. Balanced bench, good young players coming through.

  85. Lee says:

ESP, that would be a team capable of wining silverware…..with game changers on the bench too!
Come Arsenal do the right thing, let’s rip up the PL next season!

  86. devilgunner says:

Honestly Paul…….do you expect Sczezney superior to Cesar? Do you expect Chezzer to remain 1st choice and Cesar 2nd??

If Cesar comes it would be straight into the team…..especially for the big games.

  87. eastsidepaul says:

Well thats just how I would start they, if Szczęsny wasn’t pulling his weight then Cesar would be in. I think having Cesar at the club would be a huge kick in the ass for Szczęsny to cop himself on.

  88. eastsidepaul says:

Not only would there be game changers on that bench, but every position would be covered in case of an injury. I feel with those 18 players there is a great chance of competing on all fronts next year.

  89. NashuaGunners says:

What a team you get there ESP. Those 3 are real game changer even coming off the bench. With such a team you’ve to think twice when facing Arsenal. But only if Silence Stan could spend, we could go places…

  90. devilgunner says:

Guys a few weeks ago I posted a table which took into account the mistakes made by players and referees during the matches………..and with the present team AFC would have finished first with 80 points while Manure would have been behind with around 18 points less then they actually finished with.

I think that even if we had a line up comprising Messi, Ronaldo, Iniesta, Rooney, etc etc etc we would still have finished second due to various personal mistakes favouring Manure.

Yes we all get excited about new signings………but remember that there will still be many mistakes done in the EPL.

  91. NashuaGunners says:

Yes, man-made errors, deliberately or otherwise, but one thing we have to be certain about ManU is not going to be getting all the favors. Rooney asking the ref. to show card because he thinks the foul demands it, playing ten against eleven, etc, etc,… SAF is gone.

  92. allezkev says:

Evening Rico, and what a glorious evening it is…

Who needs a beach on the Costa Del Sol, when I can get a great tan on the rank at St Pancras… 😛

  93. allezkev says:

Ah Nicklaus Bendtner, a man out of time…

Let me see, six clubs are after him eh?

Would Stringfellows be one, what about the Embassy Club, or possibly the Reform Club?

  94. devilgunner says:

England under 21 are 2-0 down to Norway.

I am trying to fathom out many things. But one thought which is constantly nagging me is……who is Pearce going to blame this time for the defeat?

  95. devilgunner says:

There are five OR six clubs after Bendy’s signature. And ONLY us and Juventus are after Higuain. I am confused why AW would go after a second rate striker when he clearly has a great striker for whom clubs are falling over themselves to sign.

    The mind boggles.

  96. allezkev says:

    Are England still losing…

I only have a passing interest you see.

    Thanks Adam/Rico.

Ah BBQ time. I love a BBQ. A bottle or two of Cava and a bit of boxing.

  97. George says:

    evening all

6 clubs in for bendy are:

    Hull City
    Swansea city
    Cardiff City
    Crystal Palace
    FC Copenhagen
    QPR

Tese are the rumours I am hearing on the agent grapevine-Could be all beer talk and more like Golf Clubs lregistrations ooking for his money and pure “burkeness”

  98. devilgunner says:

Kev………England lost 3-1. They were a sorry shadow of how a team should be. Of how a team should play. Either the players are not up to standard, or the coaching they are given is dinosaur age, or grassroots are not being done properly or a mixture of everything.

But a country as England should not have an under 21 being a sorry sight of what a team should be.

  99. eastsidepaul says:

Love this from TalkSport “Fabregas too expensive for Arsenal, war chest or not”….

I don’t even know were to begin with that one!

  100. allezkev says:

    3-1 eh?
No Coach, you are right, but until the ‘Powers that Be’ take Coaching seriously at Junior level, we’re never gonna see the progress, that a country of this size, should have.

But the FA don’t give shit, so why should I..?

  101. Adam says:

ESP. TalkSport again and that well respected football journalist Simon Bollock this time. A man with his little finger on the Urinary Tract of football and without a single personal agenda. I think I mentioned him and his ilk in my midweek post.

  102. allezkev says:

If Bendtner had any sense ( yeah, I know, Bendtner and sense in the same sentence is a bit of a stretch) he would join Swansea, where Laudrup could work on his ego and maybe rediscover the reasonable footballer he used to be.
That said, he’s bound to go to Turkey…
    Plank….

  103. eastsidepaul says:

You’re right Adam I listened to 5 minutes of him and could hear the anti arsenal agent on that station!

Bendtner is plank. How can someone so mediocre be so cock sure.. He’ll get a shock when he finds out clubs will only be willing to give him 20k a week, all he is worth.

Is his contact up this summer?

  104. rico says:

Laudrup might quit Swansea Ak… But yes, Bendtner has no sense, he is an idiot!

How many years now has he been ‘wanted’ by top clubs, yet still he drifts. What a twit…

  105. devilgunner says:

England still have a game against Israel. But the latter are no pushovers mate. They gave Norway a run for their money and ended up 2-2 and at the moment they are loosing 0-1 to the Italians but are keeping up with them.

  106. eastsidepaul says:

I have a feeling he won’t get the 52k a week we’re paying him, and stay for another season :(.

Jesus… every week he sits there and 5 thousand pounds is put into his bank account.. that is just stunning.. I couldn’t imagine what I would do with that money if I had it!

  107. devilgunner says:

I saw the England game and now I am watching the Italy one. There is a stark difference in the tactical and technical level. The English players know only one route. Nothing else. They are not street footballers. They are not street wise.

Regarding possession that is another story in which I will not divulge. England used to beat the shit out of teams like Norway but today these teams are giving them the run around.

  108. tsgh says:

😀 Dev… Harry and Pearce wouldn’t be happy with that comment…

So what is your stand on a Arsenal starting 11 comprising all English players?

  109. devilgunner says:

It is difficult to envisage an all AFC 11 starting in the same game. How would you find 11 highly technical players in the English league who are willing to play Wengerball. But I will ponder about that question and will eventually give you an answer.

Italy are 3-0 up mates……..a scorching freekick which would have gone in even with the keeper behind it.

I am off now mates. See you all tomorrow.

Gd night. It was an enjoyable day today.

  110. rico says:

    Who cares Ts 😉 😉

Devil, England have the players, it’s Pearce who has ruined them imho….

  111. NashuaGunners says:

Hi Rico tsgh dg Kev Adam Esp and those that I miss

@tsgh, this is what you get re: Ronaldo. Mourinho passes tornado follows.

  112. tsgh says:

    NG, Its ludicrous but hey…

I was watching the charity match between African Xi vs World XI with Ballack and Okocha etc played in Accra, for M.Essiens new charity…

Its amazing what some of these players actually do…

  113. potter says:

Someone asked where the blame for England’s under21’s failure will land. It wont be too far from N5. Not releasing Wilshere and the Ox or even Theo if his age fell inside the limit . There will be little or no mention of Wellbeck however . Still someones got to cop the blame eh ? It won’t be the coaching , the ball retention , the accurate passing or the consistant back passing to the keeper for another long punt up field . No that would be too easy.

  114. eastsidepaul says:

This TalkSport is great craic! They really really dislike Arsenal!
Cesc defiantly not moving to Arsenal because braca manager was sick, and Fabregas can’t leave now or he will look silly.. I’ve paraphrased there.. but thats the general gist of it.

No need for him to be with his kid, because he shouldn’t leave so soon as not to have pie on his face!

Well thank you talksport, thats the end of that!

  115. Micko says:

Paul, don’t wanna come across as pedantic but don’t you mean ‘paella on his face’ !
Everyone knows he only moved back to Spain because the Tapas bars in London were too expensive.
Although my hearing ain’t want it used to be I’m sure I heard the new England St. Georges Centre for kids reckons we are gonna have to wait until 2020 for the next generation to come through, wonder if the Arse will have won a trophy by then !!! Scott, need to get your boy Sean fast tracked, I can see a loop-hole here.
    Nite folks.
