German keeper linked & Wenger hints that Lukas Podolski is set to lead the attack..

Morning all,

A few weeks ago now, there was a story floating around about how one of Jens Lehmann or David Seaman could be heading back to their old club to become the goalkeeper coach.

Think it’s faith to say that most fans would welcome either one of those two old boys.

Yesterday, René Adler (born 15 January 1985 in Leipzig, Saxony, East Germany) a German International goalkeeper who currently plays in the Bundesliga for Hamburger SV was linked to joining up with us in the summer.

However, he only joined his current club last year and with good performances came an international call so I think we can forget this story.

Just as we can forget the one about Podolski being unsettled and looking t leave in the summer:

Podolski was injured when we played at Bayern and won,. After that, we won at Swansea…sometimes you have periods like that and I think he can play as a central striker as well.

I work a lot with him as a central striker at the moment. He is a quality player and when he comes on you can see that straight away. You don’t get 100 caps by luck.

Honestly he has a great attitude. He never moans, he never has a bad phase, he is always positive.

Is that a hint from Wenger than our German striker is about to play more central?

If so, let’s hope he’s able find the back of the net more regularly than some other players of late…

Any that come our way need to be taken tomorrow that’s for sure, Everton are a strong side, one that is on form and could really hurt us tomorrow if we don’t defend set pieces a lot better than we did on Saturday.

Giroud:

In the second half, Norwich scored from a free-kick. We knew that was where they are strong so we need to be more concentrated at set pieces.

If he knows, so do the rest of the players so why such a pathetic attempt to defend on Saturday. Only one man wanted to get his head on the end of the Norwich free kick and he wasn’t wearing a red and white shirt. Forget who does or doesn’t coach the defence, any defender should know how to defend a ball in the air. It’s not rocket science is it?

Maybe without Mertesacker there is no-one barking the orders at the back and players left it for someone else? Regardless, I hope every single player has been forced to watch that clip over and over and they have had it drummed into their thick heads what they should be doing!

Talking of Merts, what does Arsene Wenger do tomorrow, does he drop/rest Vermaelen again? Surely he has to, just as he has to bring Monreal back in for Gibbs and Rosicky in for Jack Wilshere if he’s recovered from his hamstring problem.

Up front though, is Podolski set to join Giroud?

Wenger says you don’t get 100 caps for Germany by luck and tomorrow we will need a lot more than just that if we are to defeat Everton..

That’s it for another day, have a good one all….

Wouldn’t have minded his wages for just one match though, I could afford to buy the next meal out in the City….

  2. ozgunner10 says:

love to see Pod as the main striker for a run of games and also love to see a proven quality keeper in between the sticks, hope this is right. Didn’t we promise Walcott the same role though?

  3. Scott from Oz says:

    Morning guys.
Podolski up front…i honestly thought that is why we got him.
I would love to see him get a crack, but we still need a top class striker to come in.
Of the 3 most likely relegation contenders, which players are worth looking at?
    Do not say Samba 🙂

  4. ozgunner10 says:

morning scotty – so did i, i think if memory serves he’s started one game in that role? Good point on the relegation fodder, i was in early saying Remi is a certainty – at 6m can’t say no. Whether he is the only one, now thats a different matter

  5. Adam says:

What we need is pace, pace and a bit more pace. The way we lumber forward at the moment is excruciating. Giroud seems to be operating in slow motion. As soon as Walcott and AOC came on against Norwich we asked questions and committed defenders. Why we are persevering with the slow, square build up is down to the players we have.

  6. Scott from Oz says:

Begovic is on a few radars.
Rico, who is the guy at QPR you like??
I know there is one there.
Reckon ‘arry might be searching for a new gig, hey Oz?

  7. rico says:

Hi Oz, we’ll have to be patience and wait for the summer. Which summer I don’t know 😉

And the Paneer I hope Adam….

  8. Scott from Oz says:

    Agreed Adam.
That is why i reckon we look good as soon as Roaicky plays, as well.
He collect the ball and just pushes forward.
With that, his teammates get forward also.
Maybe our guys should be fined each time they pass backwards.

  9. rico says:

I think all three subs mad a difference Adam, Podolski was at least prepared to shoot at any given opportunity. But for the keeper making that great save, he’d have scored two.

Pace though, how many times have we said we lack it during matches?

  10. Adam says:

The Paneer is being made in the sub continent this morning Rico and the Prosecco bottling plant is going into overdrive in anticipation of the increased demand. 🙂

  11. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, every time we play badly it can,at least in part, be put down to slow play, i reckon.
It goes hand in hand with our good and bad performamces.

  12. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Morning to the Lady of the House and my fellow Gooners in residence.

Rico rumoured as our new centre forward. No more ridiculous than the rumours invented by the English press. Bring her on and let’s see what the lass has got.

  13. Scott from Oz says:

    Paneer??
    What is it Adam?
    Haven’t heard of it.
    Rico, is it Adam someone??
    Maybe ihave the wrong side.

  14. ozgunner10 says:

trouble is their not football folk Scott – Arry’ has led them a dance with his promises and its all gone horribly wrong – they will make him pay i am sure. He might have to clean up his mess first though haha

  15. Scott from Oz says:

Just watching the Scousers v Reading game.
    Rico, this keeper was brilliant.
    Big bugger as well.

  16. rico says:

I think most fans feel the same Scott, when we lack pace and width we look awful and really struggle to break sides down.

  17. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Morning all….

    Scott from Oz says:
    April 15, 2013 at 9:51 am

Joey Barton and Cesar from QPR ….. Adel Taarabt is decent enough but erratic ….. we have enough of those

  18. Adam says:

Hi Scott. Paneer is an unsalted cheese made, in this case, in India. It bears a passing resemblance to a kind of Halloumi/Feta hybrid.
An acquired taste but it goes down well with a bottle of Prosecco.
Never say never Rico. Cobra then? 🙂

  19. rico says:

I did warn you Scott about him. Hadn’t seen him play before but if that is a typical performance from him, Reading will struggle to keep him.

Wouldn’t mind seeing him at Arsenal IF he really is like that each game….

  20. Scott from Oz says:

Hi SYG, Traabt is temperamental and lazy, but brilliant.
    Yep…we do not need him.
Oz, i watch the F1 on occasions, but not religiously.
I was rapt to see Adam Scott win the Masters this morning…first Aussie ever, and it couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.

  21. rico says:

    Morning Cg 😆

You really wouldn’t want to see that, honest 😉

Hi Syg, Joey Barton – you serious?

  22. ozgunner10 says:

makes the coach look a right twit as well Rico if he is actually capable of games like that regularly ?

  23. Scott from Oz says:

Adam, i shall keep my eye out for some!!
Rico, Rodgers said it was the best performance from a keeper he has ever seen.
I wouldn’t say it is a crazy comment.

  24. Canadian Gooner says:

Adam – I’m in total agreement regarding pace. It’s frustrating to watch good opportunities go begging when we break quickly from the back only for the ball to die in the midfield due to indecision or lack of confidence. Too many passes and we give the opposition time to regroup. We used to be well known for scoring many of our goals on the quick breakaway with the likes of Ian Wright and Thierry Henri.

  25. rico says:

Alex McCarthy started the 2012-13 Premier League season as understudy to Adam Federici.

After several costly mistakes and an injury problem Federici was dropped allowing McCarthy to make his Premier League debut on 16 September, starting in goal in a 3 – 1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

He kept his place in the team for the next few games and put in an impressive performance against Swansea City on 6 October leading to suggestions of a senior England call up in the future.

His good form continued with a man of the match performance in Reading’s next game against Queens Park Rangers, firstly tipping Esteban Granero’s free-kick onto the crossbar before saving from Adel Taarabt at close range.

The game ended badly for McCarthy though as he injured himself colliding with the goal post after diving to stop a Taarabt shot.

Despite initial hopes the injury was not too serious, McCarthy was forced to undergo shoulder surgery in early December potentially ruling him out for remainder of the season. The club however remain hopeful he could make a return before then.

His career highlight to date, McCarthy gave perhaps the most highly-applauded performance by a goalkeeper of the 2013 premiership season against Liverpool on 13th April 2013. The match ended 0-0, with McCarthy receiving the Man of the Match award after completing a vast number of fantastic saves.

Many pundits applauded McCarthy, while Brendan Rodgers saying “He s going to be a top top keeper”.

  26. Scott from Oz says:

Well he has a big future, and is too good for the second tier.
Do we want another young guy?
If he can string some more top performamces together til the end of the season, he may be worth a try.

  27. Adam says:

CG. It is odd how Wenger, the man who built Arsenal’s game around pace and fast accurate passing, has bought such a slow-witted and bodied bunch of crab-like players and only sees pace as a late second half resort if we are struggling.

  28. southyorkshiregunner says:

    I’ve said it before Rico.
He has an IQ that is through the roof and he is a fighter…. A vocal fighter is what we as a club have always needed…. We haven’t any at present ….

…… “Barton later revealed he was on a verge of joining Arsenal but his incident with Gervinho ended his hopes of a move to the Emirates and instead, he joined Queens Park Rangers”

  29. Canadian Gooner says:

OzG10 – That is another team/club that Happy Harry the wheeler dealer has run into the ground.

  30. rico says:

If he’s going to be as good as Rodgers thinks, they we will possibly see him at Anfield next season…

  31. Scott from Oz says:

Mignolet is another keeper who had a cracking game.
Sorry..off on a little tangent here, watching the highlights of all games.

  32. rico says:

Shocking behaviour at Newcastle yesterday, I hope all those fighting fans get locked up and the key thrown away. Especially the s***bag who punched the police horse….

  33. ozgunner10 says:

me and the boy are huge F1 fans, from Mansell or Gooner Lewis – love it. So we’re following the Merc Team this year

  34. ozgunner10 says:

CG – 10.15am No argument there mate, that is for sure. He has left some ill feelings around the traps that is for sure

  35. Canadian Gooner says:

    Rico – Re: Centre Forward
I wouldn’t be so sure, if nothing else you’d give us a good laugh, which is more than some of our over-paid under-performers have done. As long as you get paid their wages for the game, it would be a good opportunity to show us your legs.

  36. Scott from Oz says:

I saw some highlights, should that be lowlights, of the Milwall fans going off, but at least they turned on each other.
Are they desperate for a stink that if the opposition fans won’t entertain them, they just go at it amongst themselves?

  37. ozgunner10 says:

the millwall rucks under the bridge were always rather scary events – they never played by the standard rules with their spanners and bars that is for sure

  38. Scott from Oz says:

    But you survived it Oz.
Word has it you took on 22 of them single handed and won, hence your quick exit to the land of the convicts 🙂

  39. Canadian Gooner says:

Adam – I detect some real changes in attitude with Arsene and some of the team. I think some may have been told that they are playing for their supper. Also, I have never seen Arsene make so many week to week changes when they weren’t mandated by injuries. He’s rivalling his countryman the Tinker Man and former Liverfool manager.

I think we could see a real revolution at the club this summer. Just a feeling, so I wouldn’t bet my house on it.

  40. ozgunner10 says:

hahaha no but i got two lots of stitches in excess of 9 each time to show for the bloody trips – wild days they were gawd – i’d run a mile now 🙂

  41. ozgunner10 says:

CG – i am going to come positive here (sit down Scotty) there has been evidence of change for sure, the first 85 against Norwich was well… but there are signs we’re up for the fight – If we beat Everton i shall be very happy and i think we’ll do em

  42. S2S says:

    Hey Rico..all..

The player I am sure we’d get is McCarthy not from Reading but from Wigan. The lad is English, rated by AW and a utility player. Can play in front of back four as well as CD. Good positional sense, got good shot and gets important goals at important times and in tough matches.

  43. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – No insult intended, just execising my perverse sense of humour(?). Whatever the result, the entertainment would be better than some of our current team are providing. You wouldn’t be any worse than me.

  44. Lee says:

Massive game vs Everton for that coveted top four slot….ho hum! I bet Hughton wished that lino on Saturday had gone to spec savers….

  45. Canadian Gooner says:

Lee – In the past we’ve been on the other side of many of those ‘close decisions’. So, when it comes our way for once, I’ll take it thank you very much. It’s finally our turn for a rub of the green.

  46. ozgunner10 says:

Lee – haha i bet he does, not sure still, how he saw through all those bodies but there ya go and you are right, the lads are on the line against a good battling side with some flair players tomorrow and need to win. Big game this one in the context of the season

  47. Adam says:

CG. I would like to believe that, I sincerely would, but the fact is that I see us making exactly the same mistakes. On Saturday we were as limp and ineffective as I have seen us against what was a really poor side. Positivity is a fine thing but it flies in the face of what I see on the pitch and I cannot deny the evidence of my own eyes. I think we have caught a few breaks lately to be honest. But when I sat watching the team against Norwich and began thinking that our club had Gervinho and Giroud up front I did wonder how we got here and where the hell we are going. There are those who think that the points are all that matters and our recent wins have certainly been welcome, but I tend to think differently as I have seen all this many times before. I still believe our problems run deep.

  48. Scott from Oz says:

Oz, you are turning to the dark side mate 🙂
    Well done lol.
A lot of hard work could well be undone if we can’t bet Everton.
Each game seems more important than the last.
Has anyone seen Miralles of late?
He is over his stale period, a period most overseas players go through, and is looking sharp again.

  49. southyorkshiregunner says:

    I can’t condone football violence … It’s pointless ….

    ———-

…..and contrary to what some people think football violence has been around since after the second world war….. but was highlighted more in the sixties and certainly more so in the seventies….
…Nowadays it is isolated …. You can walk side by side with opposition fans and chat with them … it’s great to have the banter… On Saturday I was talking to Leeds Utd fans at Doncaster train station…. I’ve sat amongst other fans at Leeds, Sheff Wed and Sheffield Utd and cheered Arsenal on … I’ve never ever had a problem – Ever …. Football violence is extremely isolated …

The police horse…… I only ever speak from experience…… 99/9% of people on here have never been charged by a police horse or police horses …
I have and I have seen both the not so innocent and innocent people trampled by them… They can make a mess of a human body and they can even kill ….. I have been charged by them and on a couple of occassions been trampled on… It hurts like fcuk..
Police horses are guided by the guy that sits on it. The horse does as its rider tells it and will walk all over you and crush your skull if that is what the rider wishes ….
For someone to punch a horse? Maybe the horse had trampled someone, I don’t know, I didn’t see the footage…. but one thing is for certain – a man’s punch will never hurt a horse like a horses hoof will hurt a human….

  50. Scott from Oz says:

Adam, admittedly i jave only seen the highlight package, but we should have had 4-5 past them before they scored.
That can be looked on positively or negatively.
We are dominant, creating chances but yes, it is irrelevant when we can’t put them in.
Our three players who are never afraid to pull the trigger are Giroud, who constantly hits the bar or just clears it, Ox who is not getting enough game time and Podolski who is in the same boat.
We are nowhere near a great side, that’s for sure.
Oz is being positive, so i will be a little negative.
We are looking better than we are because the overall standard of the PL, in my opinion, is over rated.

  51. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Scott from Oz says:
    April 15, 2013 at 10:24 am

Millwall fans are tarred … They certainly aren’t all like that ….. I have a mate that goes to Cyprus 3 months out of the year who has been a season ticket holder for 20 years …. He and and his wife are lovely people…..

  52. rico says:

    Serious Oz??

Dumped out of both domestic cups by lower league sides?

And how many points behind the PL leaders are we?

I say its been a dreadful season yet again…

  53. Canadian Gooner says:

Adam – I can’t disagree with your 10:44, but there seems to be some purpose or method in the madness of Arsene’s chop & change and unforced squad rotation. It’s not his normal method of operation. He seems to be giving some or all of the players opportunity to show what they have before he decides on his transfer targets for the coming season. Even accommodating some of his players wishes to play in other positions (e.g. Walcott at centre forward). I may be reading too much into it, time will tell.

  54. Lee says:

The fighting broke out because a pissed Millwall supporter knocked a child over and didn’t apologise….then it booted off!

  55. Scott from Oz says:

Fair call Syg…i was tongue in cheek mate as i haven’t experienced it.
They certainly have a reputation though, that is for sure.

  56. Lee says:

Dreadful season for me too BUT it looks like things are going to change this summer…….fingers crossed!

  57. Adam says:

SYG. Fortunately I have never been charged by a police horse, though I would like to be.
If you have seen the pics, that drunken lump in the Newcastle shirt just walked up to the horse and punched it. There was no crowd around him and no tight melee. I see the horses at the Emirates and am always impressed by how calm they are when so many people are scraping their knuckles on the ground as they make their way to the pub while screaming their heads off with some banal football chant or other. Especially Villa fans. I cannot wait for the Cardiff fans to arrive next year, intent on damaging every car in the local streets as they did last time.
What that idiot did to that horse was disgraceful and he was a fat bloke in his 40’s, not a drug addled yoof.

  58. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Thanks for that Lee …..
No probs Scott …… I read the Jimmy Greaves autobiography lasst year … and he stated within it that football had to change as it was coming into peoples front rooms …..
……The Taylor report following Hillsborough, and the new all seater stadia I thought was a great move forward …. The last match I ever stood up at was Sheff Utd v Sheff Wed in 1979, so sitting down never bothered me ….
It is a brilliant game that can be tarred by a few individuals …. The thing is is that the press pick up on it and highlight and sensationalise it …

  59. Adam says:

If Usmanov buys the club then things will certainly change. If Stan stays and Wenger signs a new contract things will change a bit I would think.

  60. Scott from Oz says:

Syg, we are going through in in Oz, to a lesser extent.
We have anew club in the A league called the Western Sydney Wanderers.
They are in this weeks GF v my local side the Mariners.
Each game, there are flares being let off, plenty being thrown out of the ground and arrest being made.
It can not be put down to passion or rivalry because they are a first year club….rivalries haven’t been formed yet.
It is complete dickheads looking for en excuse to find troule but always part of a pack.
    Bloody heroes, they are!

  61. southyorkshiregunner says:

Like I said Adam – I hadn’t seen it …… and if that was the case, I am sure he will be picked up and sentenced …… and any unprovoked violence picked up on CCTV – the aggressor will DEFINITELY do time at HMP ….. DEFINITELY

  62. ozgunner10 says:

actually Rico were you not defending Wenger yourself last night young lady? I am sure that was you 🙂

  63. Canadian Gooner says:

The Everton game is important and will be more indicative of our chances to finish in the top four. Also, it is unfortunate that Adebuymore missed his penalty shot in the Europa League as that would have tied the Tiny Tots and Chelski up for another two games and put a do or die tone on their upcoming BPL game. If you haven’t seen his missed opportunity, have a look. It is highly entertaining. I couldn’t have done any worse. One of the press likened his run-up to that of a giraffe.

  64. southyorkshiregunner says:

I’m not being condescending here Scott, so please don’t think I am ….

Australia is like the US and Canada ….. Football or Soccer if you like, isn’t your national sport and it is relatively NEW ….. The US’ national sport is a sport they are the best in the world at …. mainly American Football and Baseball …. mainly because no-one else plays it ….

…With Australia it is Rugby (League & Union) and Cricket …. Sports that the Aussies are good at ….. Football or Soccer as a big commercial concern is relatively new over there …. The violence at matches will eventually pass, as it has done in England..

This weekend over ine million people would have been to matches in the UK. Nearly 30 arrests…… It’s a very, very small percentage

  65. Adam says:

AYG. You would like to think so but several nonces have walked out of court recently with suspended sentences and with previous too, so I am not sure what you have to do to get a prison stretch these days. Punching a police horse seems trivial to some people. I did 5 years for a crime I didn’t commit.

  66. Bradster says:

    Morning all,

I’d still like to see how Gibbs would fair playing in front of Monreal. My take on Gervinho is that I’d rather have a player that can make things happen on his own than the same old run, stop, pass back or sideways.
Interesting idea of Pod playing off Giroud but then there’s still no pace up front and either narrows our game further or needs wingers to play wide and need to work that line to help defend and attack.

  67. rico says:

Really hope West Ham can beat Man Utd on Wednesday too, anything to prevent them having a chance of securing the PL at The Emirates…

  68. southyorkshiregunner says:

Not if they are caught on camera Adam ….. They get time …

A young kid I’ve known since he was born (he’s early twenties now) got caught on CCTV having a bit of a ruck outside a McDonalds … nothing major … just handbags ….. CCTV imagery got him 6 months… He was devastated

  69. Scott from Oz says:

    Syg,
As i said, they just look for trouble, unfortunately.
Also, and you said it, it is a vast minority that give the huge majority a bad name.
My brother in law is a mad Bulldogs supporter…an NRL side.
He stopped going several years ago because he could not take his kids any more.
Some of their fans were their to cause troule, nothing more.
The two clubs come from the same area, so suffer the same trouble.

  70. rico says:

Hi Brad, the only prob I see with that is what happens if one gets an injury?

Also, if it works, AW will no doubt think ‘that’s one less signing needed’…

  71. southyorkshiregunner says:

    For you Ozzie

    Arsenal 5-1 Everton
    Walcott 2, Vermaelen, Giroud, Sagna

    For Bradster

    Arsenal 10-0 Everton
    Gervinho 10 (3 pens)

    For Nashua

    Arsenal 10-0 Everton
    Diaby 5, Gervinho 5
Song 10 assists with Killer Balls

  72. southyorkshiregunner says:

    It’s sad Scott…..
…. why nickname a club with an aggressive adjective… Mad Bulldogs?

    mad [mad]
    adjective
    1.mentally disturbed; deranged; insane; demented.
2.enraged; greatly provoked or irritated; angry.
3.a.abnormally furious; ferocious: a mad bull.
b.affected with rabies; rabid: a mad dog.
4.extremely foolish or unwise; imprudent; irrational: a mad scheme to invade France.
5.wildly excited or confused; frantic: mad haste.

It’s like re: nicknaming Leeds Utd – the Mad Mighty Whites
or West Ham United – the Ferocious Hammers
or Liverpool FC – the Deranged Reds
or Tottenham – the Mentally Disturbed Spurs
or Man Utd – the Insane Red Devils
or Norwich – the Extremely Foolish Canaries (Yeah I know that is a bit gay)
or Arsenal – the Abnormally Furious Gunners

An aggressive adjective, sort of semi-incites violence …..

    Mad Scott from Oz
    Furious Rico
    Mentally Disturbed Lee
    Demented Bradster
    Greatly Provoked Adam

You’d certainly watch what you said if that was their pen names !!!!

  73. ozgunner10 says:

will you get off those predictions on Ramsey hatricks please Scott – not going to happen son hahaha 🙂

  74. Canadian Gooner says:

SYG – Your right about sports in North America, but football, real football, not NA armoured rugby is catching on and is for the most part a family sport with little or no agro. The biggest local story on that mark was the big cheering section for the MLS Vancouver Whitecaps thought they’d have an outing at the Vancouver Canucks ice hockey game. They were loud and stood to cheer, there was no swearing or violence, just very loud good natured cheering. Yet, mangement warned them to tone it down and sit down as they were accused of blocking other fans views and enjoyment of the game. They were sitting in the rafters in the top tiers of seating. The local and national press thought the Canucks management had over reacted and made no bones about it.

Many of the MLS teams have their own ultras cheering groups with drums and noise makers. However, the only agro they get into is to see who can make the most noise. Also, due to distances travelled for away games the number of travelling fans is very small.

  75. Canadian Gooner says:

SYG – Diaby is going to have great difficulty scoring one, far less five, from the treatment table. He’s out for the remainder of the season.

  76. southyorkshiregunner says:

I know that CanadianG ….. The kid Nashua loves him … He loved Song with his cool killer balls too ……..

  77. Canadian Gooner says:

SYG – Sorry, I missed the Song, was thinking Sagna. Otherwise I may have picked up on that.

  78. rico says:

Totts face Sunderland on the last day of the season…

Could be interesting if the top 4 race goes on that far…

  79. Canadian Gooner says:

Win, lose, or draw it will tell us, the management and owner(s) where we stand and what we need for next season. Hopefully the management will take heed and the owners will make the necessary funds available. I live in hope as I, and no doubt many other of our supporters, can’t and wont take another season like this.

  80. southyorkshiregunner says:

I hope you’re spot on Rico.

… and Sunderland will beat Tottenham……. the 3-0 drubbing of the Mad Magpies by the Demented Black Cats just goes to show that passion can carry a team … for so long anyway ….

  81. Scott from Oz says:

Oz, i will be worth millions if he ever gets three lol.
    Syg, how are these??
    Rabid Rico.
    Lethal Lee.
    Adam the Assassin.
    Gingivitis (sorry Ginge)
    Savage Syg.
    Wacko Wath.

  82. southyorkshiregunner says:

Gingivitis …..????????????????? You rotten swine …. that’s horrible Scott …..lol

  83. rico says:

Crikey, I thought Chris Foy and his family were getting a special mention for a spilt second…

When money is at stake, AW steps up his game Syg…

  84. Canadian Gooner says:

Scathing Scott and Savage SYG are certainly adding a touch of colour today.

Lee – I’m with you on a tight 2-1 victory vs. the Toffees, with Arsenal leaving it until the dieing minutes of the game to win.

  85. Scott from Oz says:

The game is on at the perfect time for me….hallelujah!!
Once a season is better than none, i guess lol

  86. Canadian Gooner says:

Well the birds have started to sing, dawn can’t be too far off. So, I’ll follow Scott’s lead and bid you all Good Afternoon/Evening/Morning as applicable and to echo Lee COYG and FOYS. Keep the faith.

  87. stevepalmer1 says:

Afternoon all, Nice read Rico, however i thought you were a little hard on the defenders for their goal. Although i didn’t think it was a foul Norwich fired in a good cross, the scorer came from no where and headed a very sweet goal indeed. we had the players that were there covered but the late run i felt was very hard to defend but we all see it different. Our boys stayed with it and although our final ball was iffy we did conquer in the end. This was always going to prove a hard task but we got there in the end. Everton is going to be another tough one.

  88. W.A.T.H says:

    Cheers Scott….

    Afternoon SP…..

Rico, 4-2 you reckon…? Does anyone know if Whoolly head Fellaini is playing or still banned..?

We all know he causes us problems at set pieces…!

We need width and to get at them and make sure we take our chances otherwise we could struggle..! This is a big big game and so too Fulham away… “IF” and it’s a big “IF” we can win the next two games I think the swamp dwellers will fall apart especially without ape man…!

  89. stevepalmer1 says:

Afternoon Rico and Wath, I don’t think its fair that every time we conceed a goal that it has to be some ones fault, i felt we defended pretty well when we needed to, fortunatly we didn’t need to to often. Be great if we could Wath.

  90. W.A.T.H says:

Thanx Lee, We need someone to irritate him and get him to lash out and get sent off…! Maybe Gervais needs to tell him he has a better Barnet than he does and really upset him…?

  91. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hopefully Gervais will be at home packing his bags along with this months issue of the Beano and his huge toothbrush in preparation for his Turkish Airlines flight to Istanbul …… saying that, he’ll probably fall over and miss it …..

  92. rico says:

Someone needs to keep an eye on Fellaini that’s for sure, and don’t give away a cheap free kicks for Baines to blast.

Jimmy Osmond is another to keep a watch on….

  93. southyorkshiregunner says:

Jimmy Osmond ….. a very annoying looking kid …. One of those kids boring parents bring out at dinner parties to tap dance and do hand stands for you …. Ever been there?

“Pass me the baseball bat, dear….”
    “Certainly, dear….”
Thwack! which is followed by the dull thud of an oversized nine-year old fridgeraider hitting the deck..
    “Thank you, dear.”
    “No problem, dear.”

  94. southyorkshiregunner says:

My younger brother was bought a single by Matchbox in 1980 – When You Ask About Love …… “Don’t Cry on my shoulder, rely on someone who’s older etc etc” …..
….He must have played it around a thousand times day-in day-out before I broke it ….. He was dead upset about it which made me feel guilty…. I ended up going out and buying him the same single …
    ……………………………….. I should phone him …….

  95. Wavy says:

I always thought Soft cell were a bit ‘strange’! Modern p.c. Eliefs forbid me from using the q word but………?

Everton are no pushovers tomorrow. Stumbling blocks at this point are to be avoided at all costs. They are a good side on their day, but tomorrow must not be one of their days!

Good players, combative style, highly competitive and a thinking man’s manager, tactically very astute, better that Le Chef! So we could be out thought as well as out fought!

  96. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Sparks.
The band are still going now …. The 1970’s …. a great time to grow up …….

  97. rico says:

    Isn’t me who’s moving on 😉

    Or something similar 😉

    A bit tainted I thought Wavy 😉

Off out with Fido now, laters….

  98. Wavy says:

Tainted in the modern sense, of course!

Good news about the little Mozart. Onhis day, he’s not far off from being world class, imo. Hope Wenger feels the same.

  99. Oscar says:

I guess they were all leaving the ball for Merts to come head out. I need him back Into the game asap…

  100. rico says:

For the first time I have read a headline saying:

    ‘Fabianski a doubt for tomorrow’

    And I thought ‘Oh no’…..

    That says it all 😉

    Afternoon folks…..

  101. rico says:

I’m not surprised re Aguero, they’d have to charge Torres too if they charged him…

    Imho of course 😉

  102. rico says:

Where have those seven years gone…

Oh to have a young fit Bergkamp back in this current squad……

  103. NashuaGunner says:

@Syg, don’t forget that the US beat England in the 1964 World Cup… with post office workers.

  104. NashuaGunner says:

Hi Rico. But when we first bought Podi we all thought he was RVP replacement.

Tommorrow is a really test for us and I hope SC19 shows up

  105. NashuaGunner says:

It would have been nice for me if I had a ticket to watch the game since I’m already in London.

  106. NashuaGunner says:

We shouldn’t write off Gerv yet, he might come true for us when we really need a goal… tommorrow might just be the day.

  107. rico says:

I think AW said it was Giroud. Pod came in well before the transfer window opened and before RvP was sold so as far as Afc were concerned Pod was an addition…

After all, anything else would have confirmed RvP was always going to leave, and despite those talks…..

  108. NashuaGunner says:

TV5 has not been himself even since RVP left… he’ll come through.
Once on a while we all have downward moment in life. I remembered how we use to struggle without him. Who knows, maybe he even have personal issues that causes him not to focus. But I still believe in him.

  109. tsgh says:

    Gingivitis (sorry Ginge) Scott… 😀
After all we have been through? A man goes missing for one day and he gets abused….

    good evening all HHers btw…

  110. rico says:

Ng, if Gerv becomes a great player for us, I will get all my hair shaved off – for charity of course….

If Jessie J can do it 😉

  111. NashuaGunner says:

tsgh, what your prediction for t’mmorrow???

I know Scott will say 3-1 to Arsenal and two by Ramsey

  112. tsgh says:

Hi Mr NG… a good draw because it is home… but I will go for a 3-2 win for the good guys… lol

Bring back Denilson for a day… he always use to score against the blues…

  113. rico says:

Just watching the news. I liked the way that copper took down the horse punching thug…. 🙂

    Laters….

  114. tsgh says:

Saying that TR07 does well against them too…

The battle will be between our RWer and Leyton Baines I think… who AW plays there will be key… the old AW will think playing a very offensive player like TW14 there will push Baines back but, I think a discipline player like TR07 or even the frustrating Gerv will be a better option…

  115. tsgh says:

I know people think AW has not been smart not playing Poldi upfront on his own but people forget he is not a no.9… when he plays up front he is very static and wants the ball to his feet.

Him by himself up front will never work unless as AW said he has been sprinkling some magic on him to improve his off the ball movement…

  116. tsgh says:

NG… you know Scott has a huge crush on Ramsey right? 😀

He is seeking therapy to cure that of course.. 😀

  117. NashuaGunner says:

tsgh, I wouldn’t write off Gerv just yet… some of us wrote Ramsey off and now he’s given us something to talk about. As you said yesterday, there are not many helping him when he has the ball compare to Pires those days.

  118. W.A.T.H says:

NG, If your in London and want a ticket for 2moro night try the Arsenal website and go on the ticket exchange you may get a tkt last minute…! worth a try if you wanna catch a game.

  119. tsgh says:

I wouldn’t either considering it took Nastry 2 years to become the Judas and even then he only did it for half a season for us before he held us to ransom..

  120. allezkev says:

Hello Rico, lets hope that Flappy is ok for tomorrow.

He’s really looking, unbelievably, the most confident that i’ve ever seen from him whilst he’s been with us…

Would be a right bummer if he had to drop out…

  121. southyorkshiregunner says:

    NashuaGunner says:
    April 15, 2013 at 6:11 pm

No they didn’t it was 1950 in Belo Horizonte ….

It was billed as England’s worst day ever …….

  122. allezkev says:

That would be a bloody shame, as the defence look a lot more settled with Flappy behind them….

Quite amazing how things have worked out in that department…

  123. rico says:

    Evening Adam..

Just been writing that in a post for tomorrow Kev. Will be a great shame and a huge miss…

  124. potter says:

Nashua go to the Arsenal supporters club on Gillespie road, it’s just past Avenell road on the right hand side as you go towards Arsenal station. Get there about 1 hour before kick off, they usually have something and always at face value.

Rico your 2.05 . All it needed was someone to attack the ball.

  125. Adam says:

I will be there by 6.45 Kev. As I mentioned, I might have to hook up with a mate before KO in the stadium. But we will do our usual thing. See you tomorrow mate.

  126. W.A.T.H says:

    Bit late but nite Adam…..!

F’kin gutless scum blowing up women kids and normal civilians watching a sporting event… Been on the cards though it sums up filth like that…!

  127. Scott from Oz says:

Another peaceful sleep only to wake up to cowardly attacks on innocent people.
Wtf is wrong with these people?
They have a suspect already, and not to tar everyone with the same brush, but he is a Saudi national.
    They attack people at work,.
    They attack people jogging.
Why is it they so rarely attack those wh can actually defend themselves….the military?
    Cowardly act.
Morning all, but yet another sad one.

  128. Lee says:

Morning all…terrible happenings in Boston, my sympathy to those affected by these cowardly scum!
Coming up to London to cheer Mrs L on Sunday with the kids……

  129. vida says:

So capoue is off our DM shopping list. There is still other DM available if we act quicklu, which hardly do untill last summer

  130. rico says:

That’s not what we need to hear vida. Cheikhou Kouyaté looks favourite imho…

Howard Webb has been demoted this weekend after all his muck ups at St James Park…

Colchester v Shrewsbury for him in League 1.

  131. rico says:

Waiting to greet his Dad Lee as he crossed the finishing line. The lads Mum and sister seriously hurt too…

  132. Adam says:

Morning Rico, Lee and all. Absolutely shocking news from Boston and sympathies for all those affected.

  133. Lee says:

My son is training at Colchester Community stadium pre the match and then watching the game afterwards….life in the fast lane, hey?

  134. gunner10 says:

so sad to wake up to that this morning – innocent people maimed and slaughtered i just don’t get any of it

  135. allezkev says:

    Morning Gooners.
    Morning Rico, Lee and Adam.

How many fatalities has there been in Boston?
Is that right, that suspects have been arrested?

  136. Lee says:

Really doing himself no favours here

    1. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admits he “rushed” Jack Wilshere back from injury too quickly by playing him in Saturday’s victory over Norwich.

“Jack has been out for six weeks, so maybe it was a bit too rushed what I did. He practices with me since he was 16, so I know quite well how his body responds to things,” he said.

  137. rico says:

    It certainly is Adam…

Morning Kev, does make you wonder. Someone said on the radio that this week in years gone by, other bombings have taken place in America

  138. ozgunner10 says:

confuses me a bit because he spent quite a bit of effort telling everyone he was not going to do that and bingo

  139. ozgunner10 says:

i think the whole club management must be zen Buddhists then, they are all hopeless at looking after the reason they exist… the fans much of the time
