Gael Clichy – ADIEU…

The worst-kept secret in recent memory has been confirmed – your 7 million pound transfer to Manchester City was confirmed. We all pretty much knew this was coming, and now that it has been confirmed, it is time for both of us to head down our separate paths…

You leave Arsenal with this supporter’s thanks and appreciation for all your efforts on our behalf. It always seemed strange to me that such an unassuming person as yourself should becoming a polarizing figure at our club, but you were, with plenty of defenders and detractors.

I fall into the former category; I never thought you were a bad defender. Certainly, you made your share of mistakes – some of which were quite costly – but who hasn’t?

Show me any player, in any position, with any reputation, and I’ll show you a costly mistake said player has made in a game situation.

Nobody is infallible and mistakes are part of every player’s game.

I always thought our system left you and the opposite full-back, exposed too often and I think it asked too much of you offensively. I expect that you will do well under a more defensive coach in Mancini and that your new team will provide better defensive support.

Your new team will probably not score as many goals as the one you just left but there is good chance they will concede fewer; either way I expect that you will look a quality defender this coming season by virtue of your own abilities, the players around you and a probable strong team emphasis on defense.

At certain points during recent seasons – the just-concluded one an example – I felt that certain players were not giving it their all at specific points; some were “half-assing” it, if you will. I never, ever, got that impression from you. Good game, bad game, indifferent game, didn’t matter. I always saw Clichy as one giving his all, trying his best, and caring about whether the team won or not. I think we both have regrets that you depart without having won anything since replacing Ashley Cole as our starting left back.

It wasn’t to be but life goes on, nevertheless…

I have not read the full text of your remarks during your unveiling at Eastlands but as I understand, you cited a desire to win trophies as a strong influencing factor in your decision to leave Arsenal. Whatever your reasons, I ask for no explanation. This was a decision you had to make. If it were me – or most people I know – personal, family, security, and job satisfaction (in varying order) would be the primary factors. Why should I expect it be any different for you?

I also wish to say thanks for completing the move without any of the rent-a-quotes or any other nonsense currently swirling around the potential departures of Cesc and Nas. To the best of my knowledge, you kept quiet during the whole process, even as you were linked with both Liverpool and AS Roma ahead of City. By your keeping quiet, the media had nothing to provide a basis for inflammatory quotes or response-provoking headlines. If only all transfers were as quiet.

So…Best of luck in your new gig.

Thank you for the effort and commitment you showed day-in and day-out during your eight years at the club. Man City is getting a good player and this transfer absolutely makes them stronger and Arsenal weaker – at this moment.

By the same token, however, Arsenal will be fine. Nobody is irreplaceable and we’ll field a good left back – whether it is Gibbs, Jenkinson, Traore, or someone yet-to-be-signed. You know this full well, having been the direct beneficiary of Cole’s acrimonious departure to Chelsea. Now, as you leave, someone else will step in the slot you just vacated.

When I wish you best of luck, you do understand that I mean against all but Arsenal, right?

I am not one of those supporters who applauds when a former player does well against us. I did not want to see Mickey Thomas score against us in Liverpool colours; nor Wrighty in West Ham kit, and certainly not Eduardo in Shakhtar gear.

You see, I support Arsenal; as much as I may admire a certain player while with us, I refuse to root for any player against us, no matter who they are. So best of luck against United, against Chelsea, against Spurs…

Against anyone but Arsenal.

Just as you asked us Arsenal supporters to understand that you wanted to make this move, I am confident you understand completely that this Arsenal supporter will politely applaud you upon your return to face us, but will not root for you to score or win against us.

Nothing personal mind you; just business. It always is…

Rico. I think Wenger has inherited the title The Thin White Duke. I always liked Clichy though doubt his mistakes would have been indulged at many other top teams.

  2. W.A.T.H says:

Hopefully Dein has told wenger to spend some fu**in money and buy quality players that we crying out for…!

  3. rico says:

Morning WATH – I hope so too, hope he is asking what the feck is he doing with our club…..

Hi adam, i know what i’d call him…..

  4. ArsenalDK says:

    Good morning!

What are we to believe when we see these pictures?

And young guns can report that Wenger has been helping Aliadiere with a move to Lorient.

Shouldn’t he be helping Gervinho, Cahill, Samba and Benzema to our club instead??

  5. K-TR7 says:

Its really pathetic how the media are trying to force the nasri to man.city move.man city are probably not interested.

  6. kev mcr says:

picked this up on a city stream and how nice it was to read an intelligent, well thought out piece in a world of foul diatribe.
pleased as punch to get him,and after seeing his first interview on city website seems a top bloke.

  7. rico says:

If Wenger is the best manager to spot youth talent, how the heck did Savic not get snapped up following his ten day trial with us last year??

  8. Micky Blue eyes says:

Now thats a refreshing change !! well said that man… i’m a Man City fan by the way

  9. rico says:

    Hi ADK,

it’s an old picture from june i think, he’s back in training now, mind you – i wish he’d stayed on the boat….

  10. ArsenalDK says:

    Thanks for that rico

maybe those were pictures from june? Anyway, I am seriously losing patience!

Surely if Wenger hasn’t bought anyone, it’s because we are low on cash?

He, as well as any manager, would love to have world class players at the club??

  11. shrek2be says:

you know , if our club wanted to make a statement ,now would be really good. Even Gervinho’s signing would be well appreciated instead of the heaviness that accompanies while reading any Arsenal related news

  12. rico says:

    Morning JM and Shrek,

ADK, losing patience, i have lost mine 😉

shrek, yes a signing would be good news, but we need a lot more than just one, Cahill and Samba (or similar) would make me feel a whole lot better about next season….

  13. shrek2be says:

Well reading the news that Wesley Sneijder may be on his way to Man UTd as Inter apparently have expressed a willingness to do business with them rules out Man Utd for Nasri. Now if he has any self respect and if he really wants to go , he would go to Inter instead of money bags City or he might wait next week until te Fabregas saga gets sorted out and sign a new & improved contract with us

  14. rico says:

Oops, where are you based then shrek…

Citeh will win any biding war for Nasri, IF he decides to go, they will off far more wages…

  15. shrek2be says:

Well with the Sneijder news we can rest assured with the feeling that we won’t strengthen our rivals , they have done it themselves with a much better player (currently) thus personally making me believe AW would certainly never have allowed Nasri to leave for them
Not sure about the Nasri to Chelsea rumors,I believe they need/want Modric .

  16. kev mcr says:

hi rico, he can’t do worse than kolorov who we paid £16 mill for last season and was getting skinned whenever he played

  17. K-TR7 says:

Rumours are rife in spain that we are closing in on Mata.could that be the reason why we were reluctant to shell out that 1.7 mil?

  18. allezkev says:

Good Morning Gooners: seems we have a bit of a blue moon today?
Well balance piece by Oliver,as per usual…
See that Hamburg & Werder are after Traore.
Rico, any idea when those pictures of AW were taken? Somehow doubt that it was last week…
    Love Arsenal..Hate The Press

  19. rico says:

shrek, citeh ware our rivals, as much if not more than the others, they are building a strong side….

if nasri goes, i hope its to a side overseas…

  20. rico says:

city kev, i thought your fans rated kolorov, i got that one wrong 😉

clichy has gone backwards in the last few seasons, he dilly dallies on the ball and has cost us a few cruical goals and wins – BUT, that could just been down to him getting stale, your boss might be able to get more from him…

  21. rico says:

Kt, that’s interesting but we always get ‘close’ – it’;s the finished deals we need to hear….

Morning AK, no idea i’m afraid but they cannot be too recent as he’s back now, i susect they are from just after the season closed and he went on his hols – no doubt the scummie reporter ws hanging on for the right time to release his headline….

  22. allezkev says:

Need your european expertease here KT…
Thiago Motta..Any truth in rumour, is he any good???
Aly Cissokho..Any truth in rumour, is he any good???

  23. allezkev says:

    My thoughts exactly…
I remember talking to a newspaper scummer, about 15 years ago, and they were following an AFC player around, getting photos etc [ i won’t name him]. Apparantly he was ‘playing away’, but the story never surfaced, so who knows???

  24. K-TR7 says:

Cissokho is very much like clichy in terms of athleticism but is bigger.however,in our system to play we need athletic fullbacks and very intelligent ones that have a ‘football brain’.he fails in that aspect and although he may have a better end product he would be exposed at the back.hat aspect and although he may have a better end product he would be exposed at the back.

  25. rico says:

Go on AK, name him 😉

You know you want too…. :P:

Who reckons Wenger will offer Hargreaves a pay as you play contract??

    he’s free 😉

  26. K-TR7 says:

Motta is plays the ‘water carrier’ role that jack/diaby/ramsey play in our team when cesc is present.he can be very useful in tight games to mark the danger men/trequartistas of opposing teams.he excelled in that role under Mourinho.he scores a couple too.he is worth a punt.posing teams.he excelled in that role under Mourinho.he scores a couple too.he is worth a punt.

  27. allezkev says:

KT, i kinda hope, if we sign a left-back, that it’s the Newcastle guy, at least he’s fully adapted to the EPL.
As it goes i suspect that AW may start the season with Gibbs at L/B and see how he goes, tough start for him if that is the case though…

  28. shrek2be says:

Ah !!!!!when will the next Maldini come in the form of an awesome LB? Will he come to Arsenal?

rico, we all would prefer Nasri to go out of Britain,

I had read around 4-5 months ago that Nasri had said he would not leave Arsenal unless he won a trophy with us.Lets hope that desire is still there.

  29. shrek2be says:

Gibbs is not a good LB currently, bad positional sense and gets caught out frequently. I distinctly recall the game against Huddersfield .He suffered greatly.

  30. rico says:

AK, me too, Enrique, is that his name? Or maybe Baines – both PL ready..

And there is the German 🙂

  31. shrek2be says:

Baines is great with crosses and free kicks ,but how good is he defensively? Add into the fact that Everton are tough negotiators. Sakho would be a good addition as he can play LB/CB. How abt Emilio Izaguirre from celtic?

  32. allezkev says:

I like Sahko, but it’ll be very difficult getting him off of ParisSG now. Maybe in a couple of years he’ll want to test himself in England.
The time to have got him was 12 months ago, instead of Squillaci…

  33. shrek2be says:

AK,if we had gotten him 12 months ago , our “fans” would have given AW a bollocking for getting another young player again.

  34. allezkev says:

    Shrek, possibly, possibly not.
It would have depended on performances mate.
Nobody talks about the age of Jack or Aaron, because they are quality…

  35. allezkev says:

Shrek, i don’t complain about the youngsters coming in, Brady deals with that.
I think it’s a ‘red herring’ using our signing of kids as a reason for Wenger not spending. He has a value on certain players, and he won’t be moved.

  36. goonerstan says:

We could do a whole lot better than cissokho….this guy last season will make clichy look like a cross between roberto carlos and paulo maldini….we don’t need him or any other frenchie! I will settle for baines or the newcastle dude!

  37. vernat1066 says:

Perhaps we should offer Bayern Nasri and cash for Sweinstager? Get some fight and arrogance in the team he seems to have plenty of both.

  38. K-TR7 says:

Gervinho may not excite fans but i’ve watched him since 2008.he is very direct and superfast.he is also strong.trust me its a very good signing.all he needs to improve is his decision making.all he needs to improve is his decision making.

  39. ArsenalDK says:

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Fabragas has refused to travel with the rest of the teammates to Asia..

  40. Will says:

Wath, essentially they are cheating and abusing their position just the same as Chelsea did. I want parity in football.

  41. Joaquim moreira says:

One year ago, (do you remember?…) City gave 22,7 millions euros for the LB Kolarov (Lazio).
Clichy only for 7 millions?? Kolarov was 3x more expensive than Clichy…
and compare the performance of both last season.

  42. W.A.T.H says:

They not abusing anything Will they have a rich owner simple as that… there has never been parity in football never will be always those who are richer than others and they either choose to put their money into the club and players or they don’t…! It’s business and nothing is fair and rules merely drive things under the table and thats what will happen with the fair play rules. Nothing will change there have always been the ones with and the ones withouts its no different to Milan in the 80’s n 90’s just new levels..!

  43. W.A.T.H says:

KT, he needs to improve his decisio making…. sounds like another one we have who wears the No14 shirt…!

  44. oap fan says:

I ASSUME BY PARITY YOU MEAN THE SAME CLUBS THAT HAVE RULED FOOTBALL FOR THE LAST TWENTY YEARS CONTINUING TO DO SO? IT IS CONSIDERED IMPROPER FOR AN ASIAN BUSINESS MAN TO INJECT HIS OWN MONEY INTO A CLUB, BUT SELLING MILLIONS OF SHIRTS ON THAT CONTINENT TO PEOPLE WHO WILL NEVER ATTEND A SINGLE MATCH? THAT’S GOOD MARKETING. MAN CITY COULD NEVER HAVE ARRIVED WHERE THEY ARE TODAY USING TRADITIONAL METHODS, WITHOUT THE BENEFIT OF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE MONEY OR STATUS YOU ARE FINISHED.

  45. W.A.T.H says:

your entitled to disagree but when does it break any rules…? hence it aint cheating… No good moaning abt other teams having more money that us we need to spend what we got…! Teams with rich owners and big spending has been done for decades one way or another…!

  46. W.A.T.H says:

Well you think I’m wrong but as said thats your opinion…! and they break no rules do they so how am I wrong…!

  47. realsocialdad says:

what you talking about 7 rising to 9 mil for clichy is good business for last year of contract, afternoon wath

  48. Will says:

Ok, scenario A: We kick the ball out when a Tottenham player goes down injured, we expect them to play the ball back to us but they don’t and they score straight from the resulting throw in.

Cheating under the exact law? No
Cheating under the law of ethical sports: Oh hell yeah.

Buying everyone’s best players simply by offering them a double your money offer because you can lose a trillion billion dollars a summer is unethical and cheating under the law of fair sports.

It does not foster fair playing fields and that in my eyes is cheating. Anyone could have done an Arsenal, get a great manager in, build a team and then an empire, very few can do a Man City and that is unfair and needs to be stopped or the game will die.

  49. realsocialdad says:

well it been happen for years we do it to small clubs than us.

not FFP is gona stop that.

if any thing FFP will make it so only bigger clubs can afford the good players

im not bad wath hows u?

  50. Will says:

How have we been doing it for years? Please explain to me how we have used the fact we can spend without any thought about loss or fear of going out of business or going into admin.

  51. realsocialdad says:

signings we’ve made that the selling club couldn’t compete with theo,
Merida, vela, Bendtner,Lupoli, Ljungberg, Pennant, Overmars

  52. W.A.T.H says:

Your warping the rules Will to suit your argument simple as that and purely cos you don’t agree with a sugar daddy owning a footie club…! As i say its happend for decades one way or another…!

  53. Will says:

    Warping? No.

I am saying that it is cheating to use financial power like Man City and Chelsea do.

If Liverpool or us lost £100M a season, what do you think the league would do to us?

  54. W.A.T.H says:

Sorry Will it isn’t cheating at all they have an owner will ing to spend his money on his club such is life def aint cheating…!

  55. W.A.T.H says:

Thats you and wenger that think its cheating then makes two of you…! They don’t break any rules so it may not be fair it may not the the so called right way of doing things but it aint cheating i’m afraid and as said many have done it ove rthe years in many different ways but have still used their money to buy players and trophies its no different then to now..!

  56. rico says:

Afternoon guys and gals, rsd – good to see you 🙂

So we have a player having a medical then, talking of which, why doesn’t Diaby have one at the same time 😆

  57. Will says:

so if you don’t have asugar daddy you go into admin and lose points but if you do, you don’t and you don’y consider that bending the rules?

The rules are you can not lose money but it seems if you have a owner rich enough to buy the league, you can do what you want.

  58. allezkev says:

Rico, that has to be the funniest thing ever [not haha].
Serial sicknote Diaby injured when we have a chance of flogging him. It’s enough to make ya weep…

  59. realsocialdad says:

French press reporting that Gervinho has passed his medical. Expected to be announced ‘soon’.

apparently someone else is at colney 2

    and you rico

  60. rico says:

    Hi Will,

I don’t think having a sugar daddy is cheating, if it was, it wouldn’t be allowed in football and like i said yesterday, had the big russian bought us out, we’d be exactly the same as citeh and the chavs….

  61. allezkev says:

Will i understanding where your coming from… Cheating, i’m not sure, but you make strong points.. Unethical, yes, for sure…

  62. rico says:

    Let me ask this question,

Who on here wishes we had been bought out by a man/woman as rich as the big russian – not including him??

  63. allezkev says:

Me, definately, not sure that Stan is really up for it.
And i don’t mean goonerstan, i’m sure he’s as fanatical as the rest of us…

  64. Will says:

Here is another side to that question. who here wants to be a kept person.

You save up and buy the couch of your dreams, it has taken hard work to get the couch and you love it.

You have a friend who is super rich and gives you the same couch and tells you if it gets ruined, no biggie, they will buy you another one and another one and another one.

Which couch means the most to you?

  65. allezkev says:

Will, with a few notable exceptions, the most successfull sides have one thing in common. They are invarably the biggest or among the biggest spenders, in their league…
Juventus are a classic case, subsidised by Fiat…
Look at Barca & Real, the banks just lend them dough and when they need to clear some debts, they just sell a training ground or two… It stinks but it’s life…

  66. rico says:

I don’t think he’s up for it either AK, i’d rather we had big money bags at the top….

  67. Will says:

Kev, so because people have been punching others in the face for years, it is ok for me and you to do it?

  68. rico says:

    Will,

    i wouldn’t care, as long as I had a couch…

if you can’t beat them join them…..

  69. arsenal fan says:

    good post…..
According to rumours gervinho just completed our 2nd medical….and will complete the deal for 10.7 million

  70. rico says:

Er, punching people is actually against the law Will, something which can land you with a prison sentence, a mega rich peson making a purchase of a football club is perfectly legal in within the rules of football….

  71. rico says:

    Will

I can understand that you don’t like the way it is right now, but there is nothing illegal in it – you cannot change that…

For sure it would be nice if all clubs were run as they were ten years ago but that has all changed…….

  72. rico says:

Hi AF, have you heard who the other player is supposed to be having one??

    Oxo kid i wonder??

  73. Will says:

I give up, I just know in my heart, I am right on this and if we allow this financial cheating to continue at the level it is, football as a game will die.

  74. allezkev says:

No Will, of course it’s not, but do you think the Juve, Real, Barca,AC fans cared where the dough came from when they were parading the European Cup… Wouldn’t you like a taste of that, because i know i would… I don’t want to be waiting for ‘jam tomorrow’ mate, i’ve had enough of watching other teams’ fans enjoying the trophies whilst we just wallow in mediocrity… I want to enjoy it yesterday not when i’m a pensioner…

  75. rico says:

Another cracker from the rumours site 🙂

‘Gervinho to sign today I work for the Arsenal tour company, in the Emirates staidum, i have been told the tours are off today, due to arrival of Gervinho & another player who they didn’t name. The stadium has cameramen stacked iniside waiting for Gervinho and Ivan car is parked nearby, hopefully this will be the start of many. The other player has been tipped to be Chris Samba, as i heard from a realiable source he was looking at house’s in the North London.’

  76. allezkev says:

Will, i admire your stance and the way you defend your opinion, i really do… But i’m sick of waiting buddy, i’m sick of being broomed off by a Boardroom of tossers who’ve never put a penny on the line for the team. All their investments has been for themselves, not for us or the team.

  77. shrek2be says:

Does anyone follow cricket here? especially the Indian premier League? Although I believe the name itself is copied from the EPL and so is the concept of clubs as well , but what they do have is a cap on the total amount spent for bidding for players. Of course football and cricket are completely 2 different ball games

  78. rico says:

Will, sorrry but you are not right on this one – it’s set in stone…

You may not like it and you may believe it shouldn’t be allowed and that’s fair enough but….

AK, strawberry please, seedless, and like you i want it this season….

  79. arsenal fan says:

Ya shrek .i watch the ipl and the idea is copied from epl but its great …csk is the manu of the ipl….isnt it

  80. Will says:

Team A loses money, goes into admin and is docked points
Team B loses even more money, does not go into admn and is lauded.

    Hmmmmmm.

  81. allezkev says:

Shrek, make sure you come on here when the England vs India series is on, plenty of banter old chap…

  82. shrek2be says:

    arsenal fan
Yes CSK is lowly becoming that having won it consecutively twice and qualifying in the playoffs in each edition .

    allezkev
I’ll be sure to come on but not for a long time though as I would be busy abusing & swearing at my players.

  83. allezkev says:

AF, England are clueless at 50 overs, but at Test level are as good as anyone in the world.
England and India are nicely matched, it promises to be a great series especially with so many big Indian batsmen touring England for the last time, unfortunately.

  84. allezkev says:

Haha Rico, you o’ lightweight… A couple of them with a veggie biriyani and you’d be well away…lol.

  85. allezkev says:

AF/Rico, Cahill would be very nice, i’d have a pint or four to that…
    But if it’s Samba i wouldn’t complain…

  86. rico says:

I’d have the Cobra’s and Kingfishers together AK, in a flash, yum yum 🙂

Veggie Madras, Mushroom rice and I’m a happy girl 🙂

  87. shrek2be says:

Allezkev, at Test level no so sure about England to be honest but that may just be me biased 🙂
Alas very much the last time Dravid,Tendulkar &VVS Lakshman would step on those shores.
    I don’t drink .
Even if we are able to afford Benzema’s transfer fee,we will not be able to afford his wages which are well over the £100k /week mark.

  88. allezkev says:

Haha, are they playing? Nah boss i’d forgotten with all the excitement of Gervinho and ‘The Mystery Signing’…
Give me the bad news…. How many runs has Broad given away? Was Kp out for single figures??

  89. allezkev says:

Don’t drink Shrek… Are you a veggie mate?
Always liked Dravid, has a great temprement for Test cricket.
Rico, Chicken Tikka [main course] for me, lemon rice and a mild curry sauce on the side to dip my barges and nan into…hmm heaven.

  90. shrek2be says:

Not sure about stats regarding English players , have never followed them but did silently support them whenever they faced the Aussies.KP is a great batsman but he is a mercurial sort of player. If he plays he can take the game to the opposition .Broad.. I don’t rate him a great bowler. I believe Anderson is more talented .

  91. rico says:

Just started, Dilshan out for 0 – Jimmy the Gooner 🙂

How did i forget the Onion Bhajias, and spinach too – drooool….

  92. allezkev says:

I’d like to see Finn back in the attack in place of Broad, with Tremlett and Anderson.
Who are the the Indian bowlers? Seam, pace etc.. Anyone as good as Kapil Dev??

  93. allezkev says:

Shrek i’m a Cockney, from Newington Green.
What part of the Sub-Continent are you from?

  94. allezkev says:

Yeah, i luv Swanny, he has a great positive attitude, great team man.
He’ll be up against with the Indian batsmen, they’re brought up facing spin, but he’ll give them a game that’s for sure…

  95. arsenal fan says:

well not that quick as finn i guess but can swing…..there is one more known as praveen kumar who can swing both ways he could cause a bit trouble if he is there in the team…..

  96. arsenal fan says:

Dont know what liverpool are gonna do with so many midfielders ….cant understand what daglish is planning with liverpool there….so many central midfielders…..lucas,henderson,gerrad,meireles,adam,spearing etc

  97. rico says:

    AF, maybe he’ll clear a few out…

We are in a similar position though, many midfielders yet few defenders and forwards….

  98. rico says:

Surely the medical is complete by now, how long does it take, unless there are more in progress 😉

  99. shrek2be says:

I don’t mind Raul Mereiles coming here if we lose both Samir and Cesc. Good player, now experienced in the ways of the premiership.

  100. rico says:

I’m really starting to believe there are two medicals going on…..

Or am I just being stoopid….

  101. shrek2be says:

Since they attempted to make a play for clichy , the bid being too low for it not going through , i think we can attempt it because I read somewhere Mereiles was surplus to their requirements .

Boo! Where are you, oliver? Top write, as usual. As fuss-free as the transfer was, definitely not a happy bunny about it. I’m in the distinct minority, I know, still… Oh and unless playing v. us, I want Clichy to do well, too.

rico, are the folks at AFC, dissecting Gervinho?? What’s taking his medical so long?

AK, I’m ready to hear your shopping stories now… 😉

  103. allezkev says:

    Agag, i’m offski in a minute….
But you would love Ashford Designer Outlet…
It has all the big names and they just love plastic cards…lol

  104. allezkev says:

Shrek; Cockney is a Londoner born within the sound of the bells of St Mary Le Bow church, in the City of London

  105. agirlagunner says:

AK, I’ll make sure to put that on my travel bucket list. 😀 Which is groaning under the weight of… my own expectations, of course. 😉 Have a fun day out.

Where the h— are our purchases?

  106. rico says:

Boo agag, they dissected Diaby in his medical a few years ago, sadly they forgot to put him back together right… hope they are not doing the same with Gervinho

    😆

  107. allezkev says:

Yeah, sorry Rico, i got a curry with my name on it waiting for me in Romford.
Just popped on to see if there was any news re:Gervinho and player X…. The plot thickens….

  108. rico says:

Have a good eveing AK, have the Vindaloo, that will keep you going while waiting for signings 😉 😉

    😳

  109. agirlagunner says:

Another one, AK? Gulps. 😉 You’re giving me ideas tht are not exactly good for my … solvency.

rico, it was an autopsy on Diaby and then they realized he still had a pulse and stitched him up in a hurry, hence this player on our hands…. 😉

  110. rico says:

too right shrek, it’s wonderful and the hotter the better for me, with lashing of garlic and spices 🙂

  111. agirlagunner says:

All this food talk… Hungry now. 🙂

You know Shrek, the IT consultants in the company I work for are Indian, and they all generally hate Filipino food. Haha. They think it’s death for vegetarians.

  112. shrek2be says:

Indians will always prefer to stick to Indian food ,they’ll sit and criticize western food for lack of spices

  113. shrek2be says:

Most food outside India involves beef, pork, ham etc thats not consumed by a majority of the non veg population of India for religious and other reasons.

  114. rico says:

I suspect he is staying away from the all too often dreadful summer transfer window…..

    I don’t blame him either…..

  115. rico says:

He’ll be back soon no doubt….

I’m off for the day – hopefully we will soon hear something to give us all a bit of a lift…

    Nighty all….

  116. Steve Palmer says:

    Evening all,
Blinding post Oliver, straight from the heart, very matter of fact, I am with you Clicky’s been a loyal player, shame he’s leaving just as the trophies begin to roll in, but we always have a man to step in, and sorry Clicky the trophies will go to him.

  117. Will says:

Arsenal are in talks with the FA in a bid to get Benik Afobe deselected from the England setup ahead of the forthcoming Under 20 World Cup.

Afobe was named in Brian Eastick’s 21-man squad last week, but Arsène Wenger wants to take a closer at the 18-year-old following a series of impressive performances on loan with Huddersfield Town. As things stand, Benik would have report to the training camp in Columbia on July 18th.

It’s not yet clear whether Afobe will be included in the travelling party that jets off to Asia on Sunday, but he may be considered for the friendly with FC Cologne and then the Emirates Cup.

A decision on whether the FA agree to release the player is expected in the next few days.

  118. Doc Brody says:

At this point I could care less about Gervinho. We went into this off season knowing we needed defenders. Now we need them even more. Not just a replacement for Clichy, but another 2 or 3 quality players to give us depth, allowing us to rotate players and, God willing, avoid some injuries this year.
