French club to raid Arsenal? Ramsey taking the road to nowhere.

Morning all.

“I am contracted to Arsenal and I am going to do my best now this season to try and achieve something special. “Everything has been going great with the club.

“We thought we were in a position where we had agreed a deal but that’s no longer the case. “So I just have to carry on playing my football and do my best for Arsenal this season, and I’ll leave the rest with the club now

Disappointed?

“That’s a decision they [Arsenal] have made and things happen in football. “You just have to get on with it and carry on playing the best I can. That’s all I am concentrating on and giving my best for Arsenal.

He doesn’t want to leave does he? He’s seen the difference Unai Emery has made and is still making and he wants to be part of it. Saying goodbye after ten years at the club wasn’t on his agenda. Seems like it wasn’t on Arsenal’s either until for a reason unbeknown to us, they changed their mind. Who within the club made that decision remains another unanswered question but according to Aaron Ramsey, it was a surprise after he believed a deal had been struck. Looks like the Welshman has no plans to leave in January either so unless he has a change of heart, he’ll be securing a bumper deal elsewhere in the summer. A lot can in seven and a half months though, just as it can within two and a half.

This weekend is a big one for Thierry Henry because for the first time in his life, he’s stepping into management with Monaco. That’s a big job for his first. The French club have sold all their better players over the last year or two so he’s got a job on his hands to rebuild the club and get them challenging PSG again. They’re third from bottom in the French top division. Good luck Thierry, I think you’re going to need it.

The cheeky so and so plans on nicking one of his old clubs coaches though. Kwame Ampadu who looks after our under 18’s side. The two got to know each other well during the time they spent together at the club and the Frenchman wants him to join his coaching team. According to the media anyway. Ampadu has been at Arsenal since 2012, under 18’s manager since 2016. They’re doing well this season and currently sit second in their league so losing him wouldn’t be ideal.

Mind you, who’s to say he’d want to leave?

Henry at Monaco with the spectre of Arsene Wenger peering over his shoulder. Remember that Wenger was the manager at Monaco at the end of the 80’s and was highly successful with them. It would be the perfect scenario for Henry with his mentor’s shoulder to lean on.

Ramsey’s spat with the board is purely down to money in my mind , I think his agent has been trying to play hard ball and back the club up to a wall but now the club has pushed back. I think he will sign up again and a compromise will be reached on the money unless of course someone comes up with a silly offer that he can’t refuse.

  2. rico says:

You might have a point re Wenger and Henry.

I’m with you too re Ramsey. I think a compromise will be reached. Perhaps with Ramsey telling his agent to wind his neck in.

  3. ScottfromOz says:

Potter, I do hope you’re right and Ramsey does lower his expectations, or those of his agent 🙂
Nobodies quality is life changes when ONLY earning 100k a week compared to if they were earning 200.
Come on Aaron, defy your agent, realise you already have enough in the bank to last your lifetime, swallow your pride and approaches the club!!!
In other words, be different to most footballers.
    Morning all.
Rico, a hot potato, indeed but really, it was great to talk open and honestly about things.

  4. rico says:

I’d hoped it would generate more of a discussion Scott but my guess is people are reluctant to discuss such issues in fear of the consequences. One slip up and you can be up in front of a magistrate.. Personally, I think the world has gone mad.

  5. ScottfromOz says:

Rico, I know but it’s not the minority groups, it’s those who decide they wish to represent those groups.
Well, they’d have us believe they represent others but really, they’re pushing their own personal agendas.
The world has definitely gone mad, no question.
The silent majority are to blame for it.

  6. potter says:

People are scared of their shadows when it comes to PC , religion , race , anything controversial. whilst the media bring out the same talking heads on the subject of the day.

  7. Cicero says:

Morning all, another good ‘un Rico.

Is it Ramsey’s agent causing the problems or dear little Aaron himself. He old enough to make his own decisions. I guess we can only hope that Thierry Henry entices the little rascal to Monaco.

Scott I’ve decided to start a new movement, The Masculinists, not an anti-feminism movement but pro-male. Send me a cheque for fifty dollars (Australian will do) and I’ll forward your membership card as soon as they’re printed.

Rico, obviously full membership is not open to you, but I could make you an associated member, you’ll get as smaller membership card though, but it will be pink.

  8. rico says:

It’s a mystery to me Scott. I often wonder if other countries would bend over backwards to accommodate folk of a different religion etc etc, as our own do.

Even Christmas can’t be Christmas anymore…

  9. rico says:

Thanks Cicero. I love pink so that’s fine.. lol

Perhaps Ramsey will have woken up to the fact that agents aren’t always acting in the best interests of the player. They think about their own commission first I’d imagine.

  10. Adam says:

Morning Rico. As for Ramsey, I imagine it’s purely economic. Ten mill a year over 4 years with add-ons. Perhaps a cost of £50 million all up? Whatever the investment it’s purely a question of, could the club do better? Factoring in the market and those coming through, plus potential signings and the likelihood of whatever injuries might come his way. There must also be a bit of a message going out here as to where the power lies when it comes to new contracts.
Could the club do better for that outlay? The answer surely has to be yes.

  11. rico says:

    Can’t blame him either Adam.

I think those two need to be given more time before making any long term decision, how will they prove themselves otherwise. At least we know it’s likely that Emery will do that.

  12. Wavy says:

    Afternoon all.

    Ramsey…….greedy

Ampadu is showing Arsenal the same kind of loyalty they showed him during his playing days!

Positive discrimination is all very well but if a body is not up to the task then they’re hardly likely to remain long in that job, and vice versa.

Have to agree about our OCD levels of political correctness. I’m sick of it. At the end of the day I’m still going to call a spade a spade not a” garden implement for turning soil over in an area of muddy development”. Or something. Human Resources = Personnel Dept. And so on ad infinitum!

Will someone bring me my grumpy coat, please.

Ridiculously warm here 23 C here and ridiculously windy.

  13. rico says:

Or his agent Wavy, or other reasons the club pulled out of the deal. Should have sold him in the summer if they knew what was going on..

But I guess his agent kept his powder dry until the transfer window shut..

  14. Le Coq Monster says:

Good late afternoon everyone and thanks Rico.

You know what, years ago you could walk past a school playground and watch the kids playing football without worrying that you would be looked upon as someone who has less than good motives, nowadays I have to walk past with my eyes forward and not looking into the play ground untill I can find a decent tree or shrub to peep from behind and of course not to look suspicious I wear neatly pressed trousers !……………………………………..the PC`s and world have made us all paranoid as to not express an opinion or look or act innocently !

  15. Le Coq Monster says:

You make a good point Rico re- Ramsey……………………..everything looked agreed and Arsenal pulled out. Was this down to when Gazidis decided to move to AC Milan ?………….leaving someone else(?) make a different decission, because as you suggest, if they(?) knew they would pull out of an agreed contract, why did they not sell in the summer or last winter ?……………………………

  16. Le Coq Monster says:

Going back to opportunities for anyone getting jobs ala football, it is right that the best footballers do not always make the best managers, so many great managers have not been great footballers inc` our greatest manager, SAF, Mourinho, Pep ( I know people may disagree with this but Pep was good footballer, not a great one, imo !)
A decent knowledge of football is needed, but is it needed more than man managing, discipline and being respected among probably a long list of attributes needed ?

I look to myself who was (this is opinions of peers and teachers not mine) regarded as the best footballer in primary and secondary schools, but did that mean I would make a decent manager ?………………..No, because of my personallity of that I fcuked about too much and took nothing seriously and still do to this day !………………….I think it takes a certain breed to manage and I am not one of them !……………….a bit like blogs, this site is run and managed by Rico brilliantly with a gentle hand on the cane 😆
if it was my site everything would go, no bounderies and mayhem would pursue as I cant be responsible one iota !
    😆

  17. potter says:

Read an article about Sanllehi and how he was responsible for the Barcelona squad that came largely fom La Masia and his comments about doing the same here. This suggests that just as Messi , Pique , Xavi , etc foced there way into the squad he will be looking at the young ones coming from Hale End.
This puts Ramsey’s position under threat from Smith Rowe , Nelson , Maitland Niles all of whom can play that role . I suppose the thinking is , why break the bank when you have more cost effective options available.?

  18. ScottfromOz says:

People come to our countries for a better life, yet bring their “baggage” with them.
    Why?
Why are we allowing our countries to become replicas of their own-they’re leaving behind countries that are war torn or poverty stricken!!!!
We may as well tell them to stay home and we will send their benefit cheque’s over to them.
It’s an absolute fact that here, the percentage of refugees/migrants who are unemployed is ridiculously high, so why do we bring those in who’ll never contribute a thing to the country, and simply add to our welfare bill????
I’ll bet that you English would have a bastard of a time trying to get in here, yet we are happy to accept those who are uneducated, often uncivilised, don’t speak english, have no trade and will become another financial burden on the rest of us.
How can anyone make sense of that?????
I promise you all that I’m not racist-it’s not about that.
It’s about wanting what’s best for my country and it’s population, and bringing in people who simply refuse to assimilate, and who see our country as a free ride for them and their family is a ridiculous scenario.
Political correctness is a term that I laugh at.
When people can’t be open and honest, for fear of “offending” others, then the world is f***ed!!!!
There is a reason Trump was elected, and I believe it’s because people are sick of having politicians put their own population behind all else-too many politicians want to be seen to be doing the right thing to the eyes of the world at the cost of what’s right by those who elected them!!!!!!
One last thing-there is a gang in Melbourne made up of Sudanese youths and they’re causing havoc.
The govrrnment refuses to acknowledge them as anything but a gang, yet we see the pictures and tv footage, and it’s clear as to who and what they are.
Do we send them back home?
    Do we even threaten to?
Nah, because the lefties and civil libertarians would kick up a stink.
Well, I know what I’d to the lefties and CL’s.
I’d send the bastards packing along with the criminals we’ve allowed in and let them all live happily ever after together 🙂 🙂

  19. ScottfromOz says:

On a lighter subject, I’ve always believed players that made the very, very best of their ability and who had to work hard to get where they did in football make the best coaches/managers.
I question how well Henry will go as what he had can’t be taught.
If he does make it as a manager, it’s a massive effort on his behalf.
It’s also the reason I believe Arteta and Mertesacker will make it.
Now, off to work followed by an afternoon of absolutely brilliant music, food and a few ales 🙂 🙂

  20. Andrew Halling says:

8.31, top post Scott. I always thought Australia took a more sensible approach, and made it clear they only wanted people keen to integrate. Too bad they have changed alongside other politically correct countries, to their own detriment.

  21. ScottfromOz says:

Andrew, the backlash is slowly building, but towards the government, not the immigrants.
They’ve been allowed to take over suburbs which really is the major cause of the dramas.
If they were told where to live, especially as we were funding them, then they’d have become Aussies.
Nobody wants them to forget their background, but so many are still living exactly the same way they did before they came here.
Speak to anyone involved in government housing and the stories of what they see in homes is just crazy.
When massive companies are now Halal certified to suit 2% of the population, you know the government is just a bunch of soft scumbags.
The RSPCA want racing here to stop, yet have not said a bloody word about the way Halal slaughtering is done, and anyone’s that’s seen it will agree it ain’t human, but we dare not speak for fear of being labelled racist.

  22. rico says:

    Morning all.

There must be a serious problem within the German camp, Ozil did the right thing by quitting as he’d be the fall guy again no doubt.

  23. Adam says:

Morning Rico and all. It comes to all great teams as the players age and new ones don’t integrate quickly. Old ‘scratch ‘n sniff’ Low will surely be out soon.
