Fourteen minute flight resulted in a 1-0 loss. No repeat please…

Morning all..

Poor old Arsene, he just can’t do right for doing wrong can he? As far as football goes, we the fans think he often gets things wrong when it comes to transfer windows and looking at our list of injuries/squad depth right now, that criticism will long continue but the latest dig at him and the club is simply stupid. Imo of course.

It’s all to do with taking a 14 minute flight to Norwich for tomorrows match instead of taking the train or coach. Travelling from A to B these days, without incurring some kind of hold up because of roadworks is quite rare and to be honest, it’s hardly surprising as the roads are in a mess, so that’s the coach trip idea doomed.

Train, well how long would that take to get from London to Norwich? I don’t know but as Arsene Wenger said when justifying the decision to fly, there are disruptions planned:

‘When we made the decision there was some road work planned. Sometimes the access to Norwich is difficult. So we decided to fly. We do not fly a lot any more. We take a train or coach. This is an exception.’

Needless to say this decision has upset a few, Jennifer Parkhouse, of Norwich and Norfolk Friends of the Earth is one. She deemed it ‘ironic’ that the match coincides with a Climate March in London:

They appear to live in some kind of a bubble, entirely separate from the rest of us.’

Isn’t that football in general? Transfer fees, wages, sponsorships etc etc, the game really is in a different world to the ‘norm’, which she, you and I all live. I’m sure it’s not just Arsenal who take short flights up and down the country when a train, coach or car could make the same trip in just a couple of hours but sometimes, the quickest mode of transport is required.

Plane Stupid spokesperson and life-long Arsenal fan Ella Gilbert told the London Evening Standard:

Having lived in Norwich and Finsbury Park, I can tell you that this is a distance that you can do in two hours by train, without fuelling climate change. This is ridiculous.

If you could take a 14 minute flight to every game would you do it? I’d seriously have to think about it, that’s if I could afford to….

It’s not the first time Arsenal have flown to Norwich though as back in 2012 the manager and team did the same when road works were to blame…

Do you remember what happened that day? Yes, we lost, 1-0! Mind you, we did have Mannone in goal, Santos at left-back and Gervinho on the pitch….

Have a good Saturday guys….

Yeah, I was at that game, Arsenal were on a good run, but didn’t turn up that day.
The result saved Chris Hughton from the sack…
Our season petered out after that game…

Serge Gnabry played, from the bench.

Well I suppose if the flight is only 14 minutes then the carbon footprint won’t be very great. About the same as a load of dopey trots converging on London for yet another protest march.

It’s ironic that when premier league teams fly all the way to Australia and the Far East for a bit of pre-season training no-one bats an eyelid.

    Morning all.

It’s seems quite clear to me the Arsene Wenger reads HH! He digested the dangers of road and rail travel during this weekend, as explained by our local Norfolk contributor, Potter, who identified the possible problem of travelling from Liverpool Street or using our over full road links from London. Easiest option? Cut out the land routes and overfly the delays. As they say in that ridiculous meerkat advert, ‘simples’. As for the friends of the earth, climate change duffel coat, braided hair brigade, I do hope they suffer all manner of delays heading towards London and miss their precious rally. Perhaps the penny will drop then, but I doubt it!

    Safe flight team.

Seems as if Wenger is set with keeping Ramsey on the right, he can attack or tuck in as Ray Parlour used to do…

Maybe Arsene is going back to the future?

  5. potter says:

Already Kev ? The Compleat Angler will be lonely today but if you are up there already try the Belgian Monk if you like Mussels and blonde beers.

  6. allezkev says:

No Potter, that was in 2012 mate ?

I’m ranking at the Riverbank Park Plaza Hotel, Albert Embankment…
But I’d much rather be in Norfolk, knocking back a few pints of Green King…

  7. Joaquim Moreira says:

At half time, City is in the top of the league
without Ramsey in the middle Flamini must play mostly of the games

  8. BT62 Gooner says:

Same here Rico, just back in from doing the lottery, pissin it down. Other half is in London on a course till tomorrow….lol

  9. Micko says:

Bt, even Dennis could do tomorrows flite with his eyes shut !!

But seriously I don’t think we’ve won a game this season when we’ve jumped on a plane have we ?

  10. allezkev says:

Sorry BT, I was on my way home…
It’s quite busy in Town mate, not as busy as usual though tbh…
People just haven’t got the dough they used to have to spend…
If you constantly undercut people’s living standards, by whatever means, eventually something has to give…

It’s been quite a nice day today BT, it was really sunny this morning and not too cold later on, so yeah, it’s ok…

  11. Micko says:

    C’mon Georgia !!!

You know it’s gonna be a real open game tomorrow rico, Norwich won’t park the bus, lots of goals.

  12. Allan Michaud says:

Spending 2 minutes Googling reveals, Liverpool St to Norwich takes 2 hours according to BR timetables, they also list changes to timetables for today to Norwich due to works on the line in their live page on rail delays. Not unreasonable then.
