Forget Suarez, Barca misfit the new target….

Morning all,

So the latest is that we are setting our sights on Barcelona attacker Alexis Sanchez as a back-up plan for the Liverpool striker. Well that’s according to Sports Direct News.

The Catalan club paid around £30m to sign Sanchez back in July 2011 and it’s expected that they would demand a similar fee if sold.

What?? 26 goals in 87 appearances since he signed for Barca, hardly makes him a big shot, nor does he warrant such a price tag in my opinion. But I guess at £20 million less than Suarez, Wenger would be all ears for this kind of deal! The Suarez camp have now accepted that our latest bid does not trigger a release clause in his contract so Liverpool can demand just what they want for the player.

No doubt, that will be too much for Arsenal……

Chuks Aneke who looks like he maybe heading back to Crewe on loan. The player and the club have held talks, it all now depends on Arsenal.

Having watched him playing in Asia, I’d say he’s the nearest we have in the squad to being a ‘Diaby’ replacement and at 20 years old, he is no kid any more. Now it’s about whether Arsene Wenger decides he is ready to make the move up into the first team squad, and whether he’s ready to play week in week out in the Premier League….

There was a rumour going round suggesting Arsene Wenger wants to sign Matthias Ginter, a 6′ 1″ tall, 19 years old, German Defensive Midfielder/Central Defender.

Chuks Aneke is a 20 year old, 6′ 3″ tall, English Defensive Midfielder/Central Defender.

One is already ours and looking pretty good, the other would cost us £5 million at least and would surely spell the end of an Arsenal career for Chuks..

Yaya Sanogo has finally arrived on the scene after his World Cup win and he’s been in full training with the squad. Santi Cazorla has also returned after his extra break following the Federations Cup so that all good news as the boys prepare for The Emirates Cup this coming weekend!

Oh, and other good news was announced yesterday and that’s Arsenal Football Club announcing new partnership with Sterling Bank which will be issuing co-branded debit cards in Nigeria.

See, they can get deals secured, when it suits!

Shame no players of note are included……

Oh well, that’s it for another day, all that’s left to say is:

Happy Birthday to Lee JNR, have a great day on the go-karts, don’t forget to make sure your Dad lets you have a go…..

Actually, forget Sanchez, maybe we’ll try and snatch Remy from under Pardews nose, or make a cheeky bid for Darren Bent, they’d both be much cheaper!

    Pff!

  2. Adam says:

Morning again Rico. Isn’t Remy in prison? Bent would be Wenger’s final insult to the fans. The awful thing is that I can absolutely see this joyless man doing it.

  3. Adam says:

Then sign him up Rico. He’d be cheap, French and Wenger could tell us he is a super-class player. What about Grant Holt?

  4. Ken says:

I’ve heard a story that the buy out clause only becomes valid if a team that bids over £40m are in the champions league and Liverpool are not. Liverpool argue that arsenal are not in the champions league proper so only have to inform Suarez of the bid. The qualifying rounds are the 20th and 27th of August. So Arsene may be happy to wait on this one.

Shouldn’t stop us getting a few others in tho!

  5. tsgh says:

    Morning Rico,Adam and all HHers,

    I liked reading that.

Adam, don’t worry about Bent quite yet. This morning rumours says we are being liked with Aguero in Argentina of all players…. then there is a small matter of your nemesis Remy being available as NUFC are after Gomis instead.

I will take him if Manuel will sell.

Sanchez was a very top winger/striker in Serie A and Argentina a few years back. He just does not suit the bit part role he has been offered at Barca.

  6. Adam says:

Adebayor! The very epitome of the modern footballer and a beautiful human being as well.
Is there another Aguero or are you referring to the Man City version?

  7. matthew oluwole adediran says:

I pity the fan who have all bought season tickets with the hope that big signings will arrive, Nigerians too will be milked through sterling bank deal to put into wenger’s bogus salary.

  8. rico says:

Welcome Ken, you are spot on, no matter what AW is doing re Suarez, we should still be signing players in other areas.

If we fail with Suarez and sign no-one else, AW will look very very silly imho

  9. Xr!s says:

Lol.. Metro is really funny. They say,Spurs will use Bale’s transfer money to purchase Suarez.

Why does this kind of papers still exist?

  10. Adam says:

I am afraid Ken speaks too much sense Rico. Wenger’s master plan has yet to be put into action. When it does the pieces will fall together like the coup de grace of a rapid checkmate. We will all be astounded. At the moment he is wrestling with the financial madness and doping that is modern football while earning £7.5 million himself. He just cannot reconcile everything, despite the fact that he has managed over 10000 games and made close to 1 million substitutions. Having over £100 million to spend has taken its toll and the board, the only people he is answerable to, won’t tell him the experiment with youth is over, as they are simply too old to remember what it was in the first place.

  11. tsgh says:

Rico, Sanchez is as fast as Ox imho… he just plays on the wings for Farca in order to accommodate Messi, Pedro, Iniesta. I will take him for less than £20M as he is on the short side…

Adam, the one who use to be the son in law of Diego… 🙂

  12. potter says:

And so the news scattergun approach continues, Aguero – Sanchez both likely to be replaced at their present clubs for a reason which is usually their current employers have or think they have found better.
I would still test Chelsea’s resolve for Torres , if we are back to buying other peoples cast offs let’s get one that knows the league and doesn’t have to uproot his family to join us.

    .

  13. Bradster says:

I hope Aneke gets time in the Ems cup. Really don’t see wenger buying for that area of the team.
I’ve said before I think Wenger wants to use Ox more this season in the middle.
He in my opinion is a good fit for a number 10.

  14. tsgh says:

I like that Potter re: ‘if we are back to buying other peoples cast offs let’s get one that knows the league and doesn’t have to uproot his family to join us.’

  15. Adam says:

I’m warming to Darren Bent and Grant Holt as a strike partnership though. It has a bit of everything. By September the 1st it will seem World-Class.

  16. rico says:

As I said yesterday Adam, the board, especially that silent American should be sorting this out, they are Wenger bosses, it’s about time they got a bit more hands on..

    Thanks Ts…

    Totally agree Potter..

I pity the fan who have all bought season tickets with the hope that big signings will arrive, Nigerians too will be milked through sterling bank deal to put into wenger’s bogus salary—We don’t buy season tickets in the hope of big names, we buy season tickets to watch Arsenal and shout the house down when we play.

  18. C Hills says:

Ok rico, the name is nigerian.

    Ginge, I see a swap deal surely, Kun + £19 million + £1 = Bendtner.

  19. rico says:

SER – but we still want to see a top class players playing for our club…

    Well, most of us do….

  20. tsgh says:

Hi Brad, yesterday’s Arsenal XI game was very enjoyable by all accounts.

A mix of 16y.o and 20 y.o’s playing against the starting XI of a very physical outfit in league 1 was a very good test for the likes of Nico, Eisfield, Akpom, Silva and Aneke.

Aneke is in the territory of Lansbury, Bartlett and Muamba before him. He is too good for the reserves but can’t quite be a starter in any positions because of lack of experience. He is clearly very good at league 1 and Championship level but when a player goes out on loan there are not used properly because teams are under so much pressure to win.

For instance Chuks scored some cracking goals for Crewe last season but when it came to the Wembley game, the manager said he was going to play only Crewe players. After 30 minutes he had to come on and he scored the winner for them to win the Johnstone’s Paint trophy.

  21. Bradster says:

The ems cup will be a good measure. Competative teams to determine where we are this season. Good prep for the season and qualifier to see if our defence is strong enough and whether Giroud can actually finish against decent sides.

I reckon the telling sign will be the middle. We struggled there against that Japanese side. I hope the teams give Arteta a workout to test his fitness.

  22. tsgh says:

CH, Chuks is obviously Nigerian descent but London born and bred. He has been with the club since 7 like Nico Yennaris and they all deserve a chance imho.

  23. rico says:

Breaking news on Sky Sports News..

*********Gareth Bale arrives at the training ground*******

    Who gives a damn ??

  24. tsgh says:

Ch, Manuel will not sell Pun to us after the Monreal and SC19 saga… we can always bid a few bars plus £1 to cheese them off.

  25. rico says:

Agree there Brad, Arteta was awful in Asia, if he’s no fitter, he can’t be a starter that’s for sure..

We really need to sign a midfielder and before the season starts…

And a striker before the CL qualifier..

Who is banned from the qualifier, other than Santi (i think)

  26. tsgh says:

    😀 Rico. Which training ground?

Brad, I think you are right about the Erms. Our best attack facing Naples defense will tell AW to either go for broke on LS07 or buy a power house in midfield.

  27. Bigsix says:

Least we get players who love playing for Arsenal than those that dont.
Marco Reus has openly declared his desired love for the Gunners.
Sanchez, Suarez or any other S…. will be a total waste of money.
Bernard will be an excellent signing, so as Marco and Fellaini.

  28. C Hills says:

Brad, it might not be such a good measure if you consider the fear of injury.

They should be in the CC team for now Ginge, no?

  29. tsgh says:

Ch, they will be getting those chances. The difficult decision has to be if the boys are getting enough challenge at the u-21 level before the CoC kicks-off and the draw we get.

  30. rico says:

    Not just anyone though Riddich…

😆 Re Bale Ts, and thanks re Kos, not the best start to our CL campaign.

Wonder who we’ll get, hope its an ‘easy’ side…

  31. Bradster says:

True C Hills but that’s only regarding the intensity and tackling. Our teams formation, positioning, finishing and fitness should be tested though.

  32. C Hills says:

I heard Manuel is similar to Wenger Ginge, those few bars and £1s may have an opposite effect. 🙂

  33. tsgh says:

Big6, Reus is a Bavarian supporter though even though he was born in Dortmond. I think what he said was that he would love to play with his idol the lil mozart at Arsenal.

He is a typical example of player development. He was so bad at one stage he was sold to Weiss Ahlen and then he improved at Mönchengladbach before he finally moved to BVB 09 again.

Does anyone know if we have any clause in Havard Nordtveit clause. He is currently one of the best DM in Germany.

  34. tsgh says:

Manuel is a latin American AW. His team selection towards the end of last season was shocking to say the least.

  35. ogungbemi omoboyede says:

why sanchez, he is not the type of attacker we needed if suarez bid doesn’t went trough look out for a better option and not sanchez, i dont understand u again arsenal we mak advance on players at d end we wil end up loosin them y, d liks of e.hazard, j.mata, higuain, and so on when ar we goin 2 stop dis name our rivals fans cald us arsenal business club (abc). bring in a big signin and stop usin dog to replace lion. tanks gunners 4 life

  36. C Hills says:

There’s always issues Ginge, loan deals, u21 league, CC team etc. What the boys should do is show they’ve got what it takes with the little chances they’ll get.

  37. potter says:

Back to the need for proper reserve football. I know it’s before a lot of peoples time but there used to be a football combination league played on Wednesdays which was a reserve team league and was quite competitive, it gave the likes of Bendtner , Lansbury and other fringe players regular football against players of the same ilk from other clubs . It was men’s football not “” under precious “” stuff. Up north they had the central league doing the same things. Players did not go on loan and were coached at their clubs, the cream rose to the top and the others moved on to lower division football.
And then money took over. !

  38. rico says:

Good question re Nordtveit Ts, but that German club with the very long name wouldn’t let him go now.

One that truly got away eh….

  39. devilgunner says:

Good Morning Lady, Sir, Gentlemen and Ladies.

Who is next on the signings list?

too many to mention. its so boring.

Akpom scored again yesterday. Why not give him a run out in the Ems cup Arsene? Ahh yes we have Sanogo as back up to Giroud and Podolski. But we really need to see him in action against the low teams. Maybe a 20 minute sub at the end of the Norwich, Villa type games.

  40. tsgh says:

I think it is different with every player.

Zelalem does not need a loan, not because he is ready but because he has not been in any academy and so with him it just a matter of learning the ropes in training at the moment. The same can be said about Akpom

In Yennaris and Aneke’s case, both need to be playing at a decent competitive level. Aneke had this lethargic look about him that needs molded out. This could be due to the fact that he was over 6 feet at 16 years and found playing up to u-18 too easy. Player in the lower leagues were it is more about application than skill has done wonders for him.

Yesterday he was picking up the ball and brushing midfielders off like an elephant next to flies. lol

Yennaris has been very unlucky. He always seems to get injured at the wrong time. Considering how he made Nani look so amateurish it is a same for him really. He is in his final year too. 🙁

  41. rico says:

Not all changes have been for the good of the game potter, in fact I can’t think of many right now….

  42. rico says:

Morning devil, I’m sure we will see all those who were in Asia play some part of The Ems, unless of course AW surprises us by the weekend….

So I expect to see them play….

  43. Bradster says:

What are the rules on an owner owning two teams and the one team loaning it’s youngsters from his one team to the other?
So say Kroenke has a spare 100m or so for a 1st div team. Can Arsenal loan their players to that team as the entire team?

  44. Adam says:

I would take Reuss for his quiff alone. It’s about time Giroud has some quiff competition.
Rico. Re your 10.14. Stan and the rest of the board still believe in Wenger’s bluster though Stan understands that his own severe unpoularity amongst Arsenal customers will be sorely tested further if he doesn’t put his foot down soon. This will herald a meltdown at the club I believe. The rest of the board do as they they are told but they were at the relief of Mafeking. Gazidis is not Wenger’s boss and is heartily pissed off by the whole transfer joke we have become. Wenger is responsible to the board and not Gazidis. Have you ever wondered why Gazidis is not on the board?
What is playing out at Arsenal is classic end-game strategy and there are always casualties in such situations.

  45. C Hills says:

Ginge we have a coaching crew, right? And they’re paid to sort out these complex and complicated issues, innit?

  46. tsgh says:

Rico, unfortunately I do not envisage any off those who played last night playing on saturday. They will need a day of today. That means only thursday and friday training for them…

    Serge, Zelalem, Miquel trained with the senior squad yesterday. Miquel will play with a weaken team on saturday at LB;

AW also has to try the BFG and Sagna partnership again just to be ready for the CL qualifiers. My only concern now is who will play back up to CJ25 at RB. Bellerin is not going to be back for another 2 weeks since Spain just got kicked out of the Euro u-19 competition 2 days ago…

Sanogo will feature and so will Frimps for at least 20 minutes.

  47. devilgunner says:

I would like to see Aneke playing and training with the first team. As Ginge said earlier and I observed yesterday, Aneke was brushing off adult players like gnats. I would go even further to say that right now he more near the first team than Frimpong. But if he is not given the chance I cannot think how he can become a first teamer.

  48. rico says:

Yes Adam, I realise IG is not Wengers boss – hence my comment on the board needing to grow a pair…

Interesting few weeks ahead I guess and if it all turns out to be grim, then I hope AW has bought a very hard hat…

Maybe Usmanov is still lurking, I hope so….

  49. Adam says:

I hear you Rico but I am afraid that if Usmanov took over tomorrow and gave Wenger £200 million to spend absolutely nothing would change. Wenger does not want to change. He gets up every morning and looks in the mirror wondering what he can do to piss Gazidis and Arsenal customers off.

  50. rico says:

I do wonder what Kroenke makes of all this. After all, he would surely have known and approved the comments from Ivan at the end of the summer..

Wonder who he will stand by if it all goes belly up?

    Ivan Gazidis or Arsene Wenger…..

  51. rico says:

I disagree Adam, because Usmanov would make sure he signed a few world class players. Kroenke is clearly not getting involved..

    Yet.

  52. tsgh says:

He will do, but at the detriment of Arteta’s heart rate. 😀

You are right there Dev, Aneke wants it more than Frimps. Frimps like JET were considered the best crop 3 or 4 years ago even ahead of JW10… even JW10 said on tour that Frimps was the best player he played with at youth level. The issue is that Frimps likes the limelight… typical inner londoner. Frimps will not go on loan to Crewe because their won’t be nando’s or a night club there… 😉

Chuks has been to Huddersfield, Crewe and is determined to flourish.

I was also surprised how good Eisfield was in a deeper role…

  53. rico says:

I’m not sure Ts, still, won’t be long before we find out…

Jenks needs to be a lot better at rb than he was in Asia.. One day he plays great, the next he’s all over the place…

  54. tsgh says:

Jenks may be a lil rusty…. he is still a 20 to 25 games a season player imho.

I think I have been harsh on MA08, sometimes they had 2 sessions before playing the games on tour.. 🙁

Joking, if TR07 can ran more than him then he needs to really be looking at himself in the mirror.

  55. Adam says:

That is interesting Rico. My own feeling is that Gazidis is an ambitious man who has seen exactly what has been happening and would most probably like a new, youthful board with real commitment to put the club back where it belongs. But he sees Wenger writing his own suicide letter and understands that he is doing a wonderful job at destroying his own reputation. After all, who would be the one to sack Wenger when, as we are told, every major club in the world would offer him a job immediately? As I said, we are watching a fascinating end-game being played out and are paying handsomely for the privilege. The world of football has changed out of all proportion since Wenger was successful. Getting rid of him would in no way guarantee more success. Things might be a lot worse and there might need to be a season sacrificed during the upheaval. Many, many fans have only known a an Arsenal with Wenger in charge and cannot imagine that status quo changing.

  56. Adam says:

Rico. If you are suggesting that Usmanov would go above Wenger’s head to sign players then I simply cannot agree at all. It would never happen. He might attempt to pressurise Wenger to sign the sort of players we need but there would only be one outcome to the scenario you outline.
However, it would certainly shuffle the pack and I don’t say it would be a bad thing for the club.

  57. rico says:

That’s what I think Ts, Tomas looks like a spring chicken, Arteta looked like a very ageing player…

  58. Adam says:

    “The greater good”
So many things have been done with this is mind. Usually it ends up being for the good of fewer than the “greater”.

  59. devilgunner says:

If I had to continue your post (11.21am), I would say that AW wants to buy Suarez for the simple reason to spite the board for not allowing him to spend more regarding wages when it came to Cesc, Nasri and RVP so that he could keep them. So he as we all know has money to spend and will blow it all on just one player.

    Maybe yes maybe no.

Maybe I am wrong after all.

  60. rico says:

I agree re Ivan Gazidis and I took his words as genuine support and consideration for the fans and letting us know that things could be on the up.

However, I forgot the stubborn git Arsene Wenger has a huge part to play.

I’m not suggesting AU would go over his head and just sign players, I believe that AW wouldn’t be given a choice and if he didn’t conform, AU would get in another man who would…

  61. tsgh says:

I must disagree there Adam, I know I can’t change your mind but…

AW and IG seem to get on very well. In fact they attend youth games together. I am however surprised you believe in a man who declares his job is to make the club money ahead of Aw especially when the period of the meeting was about the time for ST renewal. IG has not done much for this club…

IG is AW’s boss by proxy for Stan. The fact that IG came from the MLS proves that AW only interviewed IG just to gauge if they can have a working relationship.

If AW was in so much control I would have expected DD to be back managing transfers at least instead of a multi-linguist scout turn negotiator…

In any ways IG shot us in our foot and looked after his own interest by declaring we had tonnes of money to spend. The moment he said that Hig’s bid went from a respectful £20M to £30M…

  62. rico says:

Rodgers has just said that Suarez is happy at Liverpool and understands why the club won’t entertain selling him…

    Mmmmm …….

  63. Adam says:

Devil. There has been far more money available to Wenger than he has spent. His youth experiments and indulgences in equal pay have ended as disasters. He wants to do things his way. That was perfectly fine by Ferguson and I imagine that Mourinho, Pellegrini and Botox Moyes are quite happy with it too. Mourinho treats him like a friendly old dodderer now.
Rico. It’s all about accountability really and who is a brave enough person to go up against Arsene Wenger? Seriously, who is going to tell him that it really ain’t working? Saying that we could challenge for the PL title with what we have shows where his head is at. Who knows, he may be right.

  64. Scott from Oz says:

I still say Stan has the power to demand Wenger spend, and that Wenger win.
    He does neither.
    Wenger gets a heft salary.
    Wenger gets a contract extension.
Surely common sense tells us Wenger does exactly the job Stan asks.
Usmanov…..well, maybe he would demand Success, but maybe he would enjoy he cash rolling in.
By the time we find out, i could be too late….AGAIN.

  65. tsgh says:

So lets look at this scenario;if we have £100M available,.. now that AW has obviously said he wants LS07, do people honestly think AW will tell whomever he controls that we should not add the £10M extra but we should walk away?

In my view that is completely BS…

What is happening at the club has been happening since forever. Even DD said AW would always say he did not want to spend most of his £25M budget on a single player. DD will then tell AW if he wants that player he will speak with Ken to get an extra £5M so he can get another player…

DD said that was what happened with TH14, they originally thought they would get him for £3m or so less but they had to reshuffle accounts…

  66. Adam says:

TS. Gazidis has no control over Wenger and is not Stan’s mouthpiece at all and the idea that he is Wenger’s boss by proxy would, I assure you, be met with ridicule by Wenger. At Arsenql, nobody is Wenger’s boss and no other manager in World football has his power. They do not get on great because Gazidis is roundly abused by fans continuously as if he is the one who won’t improve the squad. Wenger has been mugging him off for years in a little power struggle. Show me where Gazidis has ever said his job is to make money for this club to the detriment of on-field success. Gazidis’ hands are tied. He knows exactly what Arsenal need to to competitive but he cannot force Wenger to buy players. Who could? My feeling is that, from what I hear, he is playing a long game for as long as Kroenke stays at the club. If you think I am making all this up without any outsourcing of information then I have to say that I am not.

  67. tsgh says:

All this AU stuff makes me laugh… this is a man who said his stake in the club was a good investment and that him and Farhad Moshiri will relinquish their stakes…

The same guys who were telling the world about a deal we have signed that is not even official yet?

  68. Adam says:

Scott. Seriously mate. Kroenke still believes in Weger and believe me, Wenger does not do his bidding.
TS. As a last word as it’s getting boring now. What you say about Suarez is what happened with Higuain. The deal was done, RM upped the price. We could have paid it or walked away. We walked away because Wenger said he wasn’t worth it. Wenger does not conduct the deals, Gazidis does. But Wenger sets a top price. Nuff said, believe it or not. It matters little.

  69. rico says:

But that is exactly what I am saying Adam. We have a major shareholder, it’s his job to direct Wenger, it’s his job to make us a strong side…

He chooses to bury his head in the sand and Wenger is allowed to carry on the same old way.

Yes, Wenger is a footballing dinosaur who won’t change his spending ways – but behind him is a guy who I blame wholeheartedly for allowing things to continue in such a way.

  70. allezkev says:

Arsenal to buy Aguero, ha ha bloody ha…
Yeah, I can see that one alright…

    Sanchez to Arsenal…
    Who?
More chance of resigning Sanchez Watt…

But Darren Bent, hmm, yeah, I think you are on to something there Adam…
Do you have inside information perhaps???
Maybe Kroenke is also a fan of spandex?
    I’ll leave that one hanging…,

    Morning (just) Gooners.
    Morning Rico

  71. Scott from Oz says:

Rico beat me to it 🙂
Stan is, or should be, the man.
He is not, and the club suffers.
I have never questioned the fact that Wenger has too much power, but i certainly take issue at why and or how the situation has come about.
We need Stan to be one before anything will change.

  72. Scott from Oz says:

Seany is leaning over my shoulder and wants to say hi……so, hi 🙂
Now he is off to bed!!

  73. Adam says:

I agree Rico but how can Stan Kroenke, a man who knows business, but not football, tell Wenger what to do? Seriously. He could still spend big though. I don’t say he won’t.
Morning Kev. Your prediction of Darren Bent is beginning to look uncanny mate. Can’t you see him operating as a poacher behind the imposing presence of Grant Holt? Mmm yes, I think so.

  74. Scott from Oz says:

I am not defending Wenger here, either, i’m just saying where i believe the problem lies.

  75. rico says:

    Morning Kev.

Adam – for sure he can, he’s his boss, he should tell him that 4th is not good enough, 8 years without a trophy is not good enough, he should tell him to spend the money that is available and strengthen the squad.

Doesn’t mean he has to tell him who to sign though.

I’m sure even an American who knows little about football can see where our on field gaps are, I can….

Done get me wrong, I am not defending Wengers ways, far far from it but all the time Kroenke lets him carry on in such a way we are fooked..

Kroenke should grow a pair and sack him, or at least not renew his contract…

It that old thing about treating the cause, not the symptoms…

  76. Adam says:

Scott. I know what you mean but, at the moment, in the present PL climate, they amount to close to the same thing, unless you believe that we don’t need to spend. As I mentioned and have been mentioning for a while, the battle at the moment isn’t so much for Suarez as for the heart and soul of the club and that is the supporters.

  77. Adam says:

Rico. Agreed (generally). The club will not announce the new Wenger deal until the close season deals have been made I suppose.
Did you see the multi-blog chat on Arseblog? I watched it late last night and thought it to be excellent. There was a virtual question mark hanging over participant’s head. I know how they feel.

  78. Scott from Oz says:

I agree 100% there Adam, and have said that Wenger has absolutely no excuses this time.
Yes, the fans need something…..light at the end of the tunnel.
I have defended the man, but even i am waiting.

  79. allezkev says:

That certainly is an exciting prospect mate..,
A Bent/Holt combo, certainly has my juices flowing…,

    Oops, sorry Rico. 😉

    Offski to work… 😀

  80. DM says:

Since when did anyone ever give a damn what “Sports Direct News” says?? They’re a pathetic excuse of a website.

  81. tsgh says:

All parties are complicit imo as Rico really said. AW for his principles (dinosaur) and IG and Stan for financial reasons

Anyway as Scott rightly asked, why are they begging AW to sign a deal when all they can do is let him run down his deal and let him go quietly…

Most believe AW is a ‘control freak’ and a dictator, if that is the case then we have no chance with him hanging himself. He can always then say he created the mess so he can correct it.

If anyone can provide proof to me that AW is the reason why the club you love is in such a sorry state then I will join your wagon discrediting him too…
Morning Kev, I think we missed a stunner yesterday. 4-4 draw

  82. rico says:

I hope there is no new Wenger deal IF things remain as they are..

Who Adam, Kroenke? Well if he has and his employee isn’t doing as he’s told, then why hasn’t he done something about it?

  83. tsgh says:

Rico, re Silva that was why I asked if he had a Spanish EU passport?

He does not qualify for work permit…

  84. Adam says:

You know Scott I don’t want to come across someone who is ” in the know” because I am not really. But I honestly do have some info here and I do know “stuff”. We all put together what we can from the bits that we pick up here and there but Rico and Kev will tell you that I told them about the Suarez thing at least a month before the slightest mention of it was made in the press. He was never, ever thought of, even by the press as an Arsenal target.
The equation seems that we all said the deadwood must be shipped out and replaced with quality. We can see that process is well underway and some success has been had there. Part two is proving difficult and has bought a number of issues forward as spending huge money always will. Ego is a dangerous thing in these situations. Wenger is The Man at Arsenal but, it is clear that as ever, the fans want to believe but are beginning to twig that there is a lot of hot air but little action. This may or may not change.

  85. rico says:

I see Ts, I don’t know if he does, not sure he’d be permitted to play, even for the reserves if he didn’t.. Odd..

I can vouch for what Adam said about Suarez Scott, I thought Adam had eaten too many blue Smarties at the time….

  86. rico says:

I don’t DM, just passing on all the gossip…

Right, I must go and do a few chores, back in a while…

    Night Scott 😉

  87. tsgh says:

Mauren-ho is now after Suarez… I bet the dippers will sell him for £42M and then some fans will say AW is clueless…

AW can’t win, the club is in the best state it has ever been that is including the double inning years… trophy or no trophy. Japan may love AFC because of AW.

The same guys calling for signings will be the first to call human beings deadwood if those signings don’t work out.

The fact that AW chose not to go after Hig but instead try with Suarez is a testament to the man trying to change. Normally the man will go for cheap and foreign based. Instead he chose to go after false info from Pep’s brother…

I still think not going for Hig is the best decision; how many fans had actually seen him play? At least we have all seen Benteke, and Suarez play.

Even Manuel does not appear to rate Hig even though he brought him to Unreal…

We reportedly bid over 20 bars for Bender who is 10 times better than MF. Suarez is still available if someone will bite the bullet and bid for him.. or we can always go for who we should have gone for in the first place Benteke for £25M or £30M

  88. Scott from Oz says:

    Fair enough Adam.
You are right…trying to add snippets of info together with the thousands of rumours leads to frustration.
Wenger needs to get a big name in this time else he will have not a not of support left.
    Well, from fans, i mean.
Lets hope, and not for Wengers sake, but the clubs.

  89. Scott from Oz says:

Ginge, he needs to get one over the line mate.
Even bidding 40 million plus for Suarez shows the cash really is there, and even if we do not get him, there are plenty of players worth that money or less that would have an impact.

  90. tsgh says:

Yaya played for us on a visa so it is possible for a player to have trials… but Wellington seems to be staying longer so fingers crossed.

I know I have mentioned this before, but Wellington was better than Neymar and Coutinho 6 or so years ago in the u-17 World cup. Coutinho is now coming back to his best with the dipers. He was so mediocre in Serie A he was sold for peanuts…

There is still hope for Silva to forge a career imo…

I THINK Jeordie Bird said he has a passport now…

  91. tsgh says:

Actually, I will disagree with you for the first time Scott 🙂

There are plenty and bountiful of players who can ensure we finish in 4th place under AW but only an elite few can make us cross over to top 2 imho…

I still think Benteke is one; Torres or Wooney but realistically who can we get?

  92. Scott from Oz says:

Silva could be a massive player for us.
    Just sort that attitude.
    I am off guys…great chat.
    See ya tomorrow.

  93. devilgunner says:

The judge in this case might be an AFC supporter……….

A property tycoon who lost his wife to former Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas has now lost the former family home too after a judge refused to halt its £5.5 million sale to the footballer.

Elie Taktouk, 38, whose ex-wife, Daniella Semaan, gave birth to Fabregas’s baby in April, tried to block the sale on the basis that the Barcelona star’s offer was £2 million  less than its value.

The Grade-II listed Belgravia flat, close to Buckingham Palace, had been ordered for sale as part of divorce proceedings in order to provide money for Ms Semaan to buy her own home.

But Mr Taktouk soon learned it was her new boyfriend who had put an offer on the table within three weeks of the flat going on the market.

After the sale to Fabregas, 25, was approved by the High Court, Mr Taktouk launched a last-ditch bid for time to look for a bid closer to his £7.5 million valuation of the apartment, where his ex was still living.

But after a Court of Appeal hearing, the footballer and his Lebanese girlfriend were the winners when Lord Justice Floyd threw out Mr Taktouk’s application to block the sale to the former Arsenal captain.

Mr Taktouk and his ex-wife have two children but separated in 2011, months after Ms Semaan was seen on holiday with Fabregas.

Watch this space. It might have legs.

  94. tsgh says:

You see fans are either hypocritical or forgetful….

Fans ask why we signed Denilson, Le Squid, B-52 to long term contracts? They then ask why we allowed flamini and RVP’s contracts to ran out…

    Denilson- was the captain of Brazil at u-18 level and wanted by RM too;

    Le Squid- was experienced and was voted in Uefa team and La liga team for the season before he joined us;

B-52- almost single-handedly got BCFc promoted to the EPL under Steve Bruce. At home even Brian thought B-52 was better than his brother Michael at his age. Even Michael thought B-52 had potential to be better than he ways based on where he was at 18 or 19 years old.

Flamini- was inconsistent and was nearly sold to BCFC a few weeks before Diaby got injured again…

So unfortunately with players sometimes it is up to them to prove their worth when given that opportunity…

  95. tsgh says:

Interesting Dev, I still think Cesc is a snake..

I believe in respect and loyalty and that boy has shown none in this instance. If that happened to me, I will be calling some squad together to deal with him… 😉

  96. allezkev says:

I can also confirm, that Adam told me about the link to Suarez some 6 to 8 weeks before it came out in the Press…

Obviously I didn’t think it correct to natter about it on here…

Yes Ginge, apparently our defending for Orient’s first two goals, was appalling…
    No surprise there!!!
    Akpom had another good game…

As far as Wellington Silva is concerned, a player can play in a pre-season:friendly game without a work permit…

I saw Galindo 2 years ago at Stevenage….

With Campbell gone (permanently I suspect, eventually) it’s possible that Wenger may try to get a permit for Wellington…

Not sure about his status re: Spanish passport????
Personally, I think he had done well and justifies making an effort to have him included at Arsenal this season…

He certainly knows where the net is….

  97. devilgunner says:

I used to like Denilson. And still do. I still fell that he was used wrongly by AW who shafted Denilson around to accomodate Cesc. I still feel that if Cesc was not at AFC he would still be playing the AM position behind the central striker.

  98. devilgunner says:

you saw Galindo at Stevenage Kev??? And he still hasn’t played.

I saw you at Heathrow 11 years ago and even you still have not played. Arent you in Arsene’s good books mate??? 😉

  99. tsgh says:

You are right Dev but then he did not help himself by stating the obvious to AW about the captaincy.

Denilson also got the same lower back injury that Hig got in 2010.. he lost more than a yard.

Kev, I heard the Boateng and Hayden’s partnership was very ‘south’. Boateng is another player who has gone backwards since his loan to Swindon.

  100. tsgh says:

Do you know anything about our makeshift lb Siemann who played yesterday?

    Crowley was an unused sub…

  101. devilgunner says:

yesterday’s defence was very un-footballing like. back to the dinosaur ages. Ginge regarding Boateng and Swindon….that is why I keep telling you all that coaching in England must be changed top to bottom. For how can you send a player on loan and then he is told the opposite of what you have taught him?

At AFC the onus is on getting the ball out of the defence. Then you go to Swindon and they tell you to belt it up.

  102. SD UK says:

    Good comments all through.

Kroenke has a ranch almost 10 times the size of emirates.
He has brought his son to London to look after his footballing interests
He has other sport clubs in the USA
He basically can’t be having an headache with a profit making Arsenal with Wenger making him the millions every year.

Wenger is in TOTAL control , don’t be deceived.

  103. NashuaGunners says:

    Good Afternoon Everyone.

Everyday holds a possibility of a miracle.

Ginge, Cesc a snake??? I think you have a point. If you compare the way Cesc and Song treated and left Arsenal, you would never take Cesc back.

  104. tsgh says:

That can’t be disputed against at all Dev re coaching… I also think the viewers especially at lower league levels need to change their expectations.

Their are times when I go and see Guildford FC where Gibbs twin plays for and some fans complain when a ball goes backwards or sideways. In this country it is seen as ineptness but on the continent it is termed recycling possession.

Do you know what Siemann’s natural position is?

  105. allezkev says:

I think that Boateng went to Swindon, not to improve his technique, but to put him in the shop window.,,

  106. Bob John says:

At the moment AW reminds me of a Bond villain who, despite seeing his plan for world domination crumbling before his eyes, refuses to back down or change his ways! My season ticket of 30 years is on hold this year. Not out of a lack of loyalty (I more than have that t-shirt!) Just totally fed up with the same bullsh!t and groundhog day summers. You can predict what is going to be said and done each year and we are all suckered in!

  107. SD UK says:

I like how we are all routing for Chuks Aneke, the Lad does work hard.

We shouldn’t make excuses for players like Denilson, no coach in the right mind will prevent a talent like Fabregas to flourish.

Yes, Denilson was shifted because of Fabregas emergence but then, Denilson was kept a first team member for many years to prove himself but he was always in a sleeping mode.

He did not grab his opportunity, even if he was asked to defend he should accept gladly and give his all.

Ramsey is a major 1st team player now because he always gives his best even when Wenger uses him wrongly , thats the spirit.

  108. devilgunner says:

    SD UK you are right.

But as I said if Cesc was not around Denilson might have turned out to be different.

  109. tsgh says:

A perfect MA08 replacement if true Dev… but I can see the ‘spares’ asking for him as part of a Bale deal.

  110. Adam says:

Bob John. You and tens of thousands of others mate. If Wenger, Stan and Gazidis weren’t alarmed by the empty seats and poisonous atmosphere last year I would be amazed. I take some comfort in believing that something will have to give. Kroenke will see his potential profit on investment diminishing, Gazidis will be sicker than ever that all the restraint and financial diligence (customer exploitation) will have done little to curb his perceived role as the fall guy and Wenger won’t like what will be coming his way from the fans. He will also resent the hell out of the press intrusion and obsession with it all and likely grow even more entrenched in his world view.
But we know it all so well by now we could probably write the script for him. He still has time to turn it around, just not much. I guess we must keep the faith until it becomes impossible not to do so. 🙂

  111. potter says:

As I said previously loaning players doesn’t really work. 90% of the time the loan player is seen purely as back up to the clubs own players , All they get is experience of another life style and having got used to being involved in first team football albeit mainly on the bench they move on soon after their return.

  112. SD UK says:

Yeah but Arsenal should come first and we should always attract the best talent.

So if Denilson was slow off the block , Fabregas should come in.

If Aneke is slow in reaching his full potential then buy the German guy to fit in.

Sanogo is the major surprise package for Wenger this season , the guy is raw talent and he will go in straight into the first team. That is how it should be.

If Wellington used to be better than Neymar at under 17 , it goes to show you what hard work , determination and pure desire can make you.Look at Neymar now.

We should always attract the best always.

  113. tsgh says:

Silva was dumped in Spain with no family and a huge language barrier at 16/17 y.o all because the home office refused to give him a special talents visa last minute.

His club complained all he ate was pizza but how many 17 y.o can cook a healthy meal?

Maybe someone at the club thought Spanish and Portuguese was similar. 😉

Coutinho had the same issues and is now finding hsi feet at 20 y.o

Neymar progressed because he stayed at home.

Do you know Messi was going to be loaned to the SPL before Rijkaard took over and decided to use him sparsely? That is how thin the line is at top football. Will Messi be a footballer if he was brought to the UK with people expecting lumps playing?

  114. Bob John says:

Adam, I truly believe Arsene’s strength is also his biggest weakness. Because he is an intelligent man, he always has to prove he is cleverer than anyone else by getting the best bargain or proving he can win without spending money. His ego has taken over his brain. The real winners, as much as I hate the likes of Ferguson/Mourinho, will do whatever it takes to be successful. Whether that’s spending money or ‘tapping up’ to get scess.

  115. Adam says:

Bob John. I agree. But I know many highly intelligent people who couldn’t boil an egg or make a cuppa without messing it up.
Today’s Wenger is an enigma. We are all, perhaps, victims of our past and our experiences and I doubt that Arsene is any different. But I have seen him cut his nose off to spite his face so many times now. If one person could make a sensible case to me that would support where Arsenal are today ( not in the past), then I would like to hear it. Our club, like all clubs, have only a couple of opportunities a season to really improve the squad through injecting new blood. Team improvement is fine through players raising their game, but we are in the major transfer window now, as I write. We are in better financial shape than at any time since the Emirates move. We are cash rich. Wenger dodged the bullet last year and we blew out in the cups to vastly, vastly inferior opposition which was utterly disgraceful and Wenger must shoulder a portion of the blame for that mustn’t he? Except for the people at Untold Arsenal and a few here, everybody and their dog know that we must strengthen with high quality. We can afford it. In fact and according to Gazidis, we can afford to spend over £40 million on one player and also to buy and pay Rooney £250,000 a week. Let me, if you will, neatly pass over the moral issues of doing either at this moment.
We need a class striker desperately. But we also need, probably, three other players too. Where are they?
We might end up with all of them but I think it is a long shot. Are all the players we want impossible to buy? Are there no players at all in World football who would improve our squad?
Or are there other mechanisms in play that are hampering things?

  116. Adam says:

Afternoon Rico. Not yet. At the moment he buying Modric and a tall, thin German named Gitter. 🙂

  117. rico says:

Afternoon Adam, I thought it was Ginter, and don’t forget Cesc is definitely coming back as he’s just bought a very swish flat near Buckingham Palace 😉

  118. devilgunner says:

Hi all. Just a short pop in before I go lolling about in the last throes of sunshine before its dusk on the sandy beaches of the fresh Mediterrenean and I found this………..

As most of you will already know the well-known Gooner Amy Lawrence gave an interview yesterday where she mentioned that there is tension between the Arsenal Board/Ivan Gazidis and Arsene Wenger on the way forward with the transfer policy. The Board/Ivan want big money spent and Arsene does not want to go this route, seems to be the gist of it, or at least is what Arsenal Blog World has taken from it. Oddly enough both sides of the divide, the Wenger Out Brigade and the Arsene Knows Brigade, both somehow claiming that this is proof that their views are right.

On the strength of her comments we have some Arsenal blogs and fan groups promoting a total boycotting of AFC merchandise and the rumours of a protest march at the Emirates Cup this weekend are gathering apace.

A Storm in a Tea Cup

From what I’m told by my AFC source its all a storm in a tea cup, the main bone of contention is what to do to get the Luis Suarez deal done. The Board feel that we must get the deal done, even if it means paying over the odds at £50M, Ivan knows that if we fail to complete this deal he is the one that will get the vast majority of blame from the Arsenal Fan Base, Wenger will somehow escape the brunt of the blame. Wenger being Wenger means he is far more pragmatic about the whole deal, and is willing to play the deal out even if it means going right to the end of the transfer window to get his man.

    The Suarez Clause

There is much confusion over the release clause in Suarez’s contract but the latest legal advice suggests that the only dubious phrase in the wording of the clause is that the set fee applies only for CL clubs so Wenger wants to sit tight at £40M+£1 as he believes that this will get him in the end, it might mean waiting till Arsenal get in CL proper, but seeing as the striker is suspended for the start of the season its not seen by Arsene as a problem.

    Everything in Place

With the new sponsorship deals and other income streams now falling in place everything is in place for Arsenal to go to the next level, but still under the self-sustainability model. The board have sanctioned the changes of our wage structure – in fact this started big time last year, the getting rid of the deadwood, the unwanted youth and the changes in the new contracts awarded to the likes of Jack, AOC, Rambo etc which took out the parity clauses, has almost totally restructured the wages scheme and now means the club can as stated by Wenger and Gazidis pay the like of Rooney’s wages. Of course they do not have unlimited funds and there are limits to what can be paid and how much can be spent overall. But Arsenal are in a position to spend way more than ever before. Gazidis wants a couple of stellar signings made to showcase our new position. He wants the flack he has taken, and still takes, to finally end.

    There is Tension

There is a little tension between Gazidis and Wenger once again over Arsene’s backtracking on targets, at the start of the season Wenger for once gave Ivan A, B, C, options for several positions and in some cases very big bids were made, but as the summer has worn on Wenger is sticking more to his A wish list, and even once again talking about going to the wire of the transfer window for his top targets even if it means this might mean not even getting the B or C option because its too late in the window or these options are gone.

For me I sort of agree with Wenger on this issue, why buy your second or third option if you believe you can get your first choice – why sign Hiquain if you can get Suarez, why sign Fellaini if you can get Cesc.

    What about the squad fillers
I hear many ask “but what about the squad additions, why are they not being done”, well its simple really the Suarez and Cesc situations are the main problem, Wenger wants both, they are A listers, until these are either signed or are completely ruled out other(B or C list) striker and midfield moves are not being made, and in turn until we know how much of our budget is to be spent on our top priority targets we do not know what level of squad additions we can afford. Now don’t get me wrong, moves are still being worked on for squad fillers, and we have gone a long way with some targets, and I still expect a 2+2 signing spree to happen, two really top level first choice players and two experienced players who are of the next level, ready to fight for their place in the team but not signed as first choice starters.

    Keep Calm

It was pointed out to me recently on Arsenal Times that I seemed very calm about our transfer dealings this summer. Thinking about it, this is a correct assessment, due to the info given to me about the sort of players on our list of targets and the willingness of the Board to not only break our transfer record but to smash it several times over, combined with the continuation of getting rid of unwanted players and the new contract situations that has evolved in recent years I am confident that we are taking big steps in the right direction, which will include a couple of top level arrivals.

I am still concerned at the level of power Wenger has and I do not like how on his say so we are risking so much on getting the top targets, because if we don’t it might be too late to get the quality we need. The big thing for me is that Wenger should not be given a new contract till the squad additions are done, and if we do not sign a couple of top stars then he should not get the new deal at all. But in saying that I do not like the idea of going into the season with our manager having only one year left on his contract, it’s a situation that has not worked well for other clubs in the past, players are inclined to not put in full effort if any uncertainty surrounds the managers future.

This throws a lot of light on the present situation. Then again it might not.

  119. Adam says:

    Ah, mais oui, Ginter.
I think Cesc will come back Rico. I really do. Someone ITK told me though he was a JLC. I met a girl who was OTI but she turned out to be a FCS. That wouldn’t have been so bad but she liked Eastenders too. That was a BTF for me I’m afraid.

  120. C Hills says:

You take a man’s wife and his house. Sometimes there’s need for a tiny little bit of jungle justice.

    Afternoon Kev, rico and Adam.

  121. tsgh says:

    Exactly, CH!

I hope this man i.e Cesc’s rival does not know anyone from New Orleans or Benin 😉

  122. devilgunner says:

Maybe signing Gamez, Fabregas and Sanches will eventually give us two players for every position bar DM. It works out and not a lot of money spent (bar the Cesc deal of course).

I feel that all this will be set in motion next week.

Its just a hunch of course.

    Righto.

Off to splash and some fun.

Today I will turn into SEAMAN minus the gloves to try and catch all the balls the missus and the little one throw at me.

    later

  123. tsgh says:

BS alert, BS alert – ” The Board feel that we must get the deal done, even if it means paying over the odds at £50M, Ivan knows that if we fail to complete this deal he is the one that will get the vast majority of blame from the Arsenal Fan Base, Wenger will somehow escape the brunt of the blame.”

If the players flop then IG gets vindicated because he has done his job 😀

  124. devilgunner says:

Before I go…….has it really come to this to solve our defence? I mean, have we really turned to Jesus to work his miracles on our defense. Who next. The POPE???

    off now.

  125. C Hills says:

Afternoon DG, surely you should’ve written that as tomorrow’s post. :). Anyways, waiting in the dark will always be a problem considering the past.

  126. NashuaGunners says:

    Good Afternoon again

Adam. I’m lost and my head is spinning with all your acronym. Is there any way you could help me out, please?

  127. Adam says:

Rico. Come on. You, of all people get that one.
Nashua. I am afraid not. All I will say is that JLC is Jaeger Le Coultre. The rest should flow quite easily. 🙂

  128. C Hills says:

😀 😀 😀 Ts, even the city in Nig. is referred to as a centre for voodoo and I manage to live there.:)
Seriously, Cesc may not get away with that in West Africa.

  129. C Hills says:

Thank God saturday is three days away. Who knows, we might still end up talking about signings on sunday. I hope we won’t though.

  130. C Hills says:

And its called voodoo when done by africans, Ts. Double standards. 🙂
Naija is a variant used by nigerians to affectionately refer to the country.

  131. C Hills says:

Adam, science has not yet been able to explain to me how it is a person is shot at point blank and the bullet manages to be on the ground. I’m still waiting.:)

  132. potter says:

Bale has asked to be allowed to leave but has stopped short of a transfer request. It will be interesting to see what Spurs do with the cash.

  133. C Hills says:

In this life, rico, we have limited time. 😀

Afternoon potter, they need money so bad given that the arsenal they’ve been managing to rival has suddenly come into money. If we strengthen our squad, keeping Bale won’t make us rivals, we would be so far ahead.

  134. C Hills says:

rico is preparing dinner, Ginge is reading Harry Potter, Adam is shopping for more red pants and potter has disappeared.

  135. allezkev says:

Rico, if the moon is made of Canadian Cheddar, Parmasan, Hellim and Stilton, then I’m coming with you…. 😉

  136. allezkev says:

Coach, that was a very interesting post @ 4.20…

Seems like there could be more than a grain of truth in it…

  137. ktr7 says:

Good read.I’ve honestly given up on us making significant signings this year.lets just hope the players we have and our youngsters do better than last year.

  138. allezkev says:

All this transfer nonsense really is becoming boring…

As for boycotting Arsenal merchandise, about time too…

Never buy anything at the stadium, bar a drink if I’m desperate..

Never buy anything at the club shop/shops. Most of it is poor quality in any case.

Never buy a programme and didn’t even bother with last season, first time in years that I couldn’t be bothered….

  139. potter says:

Just clicking in and out when doing my books for V.A.T allows.

You can’t get rid of me that easily.

  140. potter says:

Yes Kev , I gave up the programmes 2 years ago. As for the food having queued up for 20 minutes , asking for a pint of bitter , was served a slice of Pizza.

  141. C Hills says:

    Evening Kev and kt.

potter, getting rid of someone is rico’s calling and, to a lesser extent, WATH’s. Btw, don’t allow anyone evade VAT. 🙂

  142. rico says:

    Thanks Kt..

Ch, be assured, Wath is every bit in control here as me, he’ll oik anyone off in a flash….

  143. C Hills says:

I seriously thought he was joking rico. He kinda said I should hand in a formal request to be in moderation seeing as I was by myself on saturday. So the moderation thingy was true. Is Ginge an admin too?

  144. allezkev says:

Potter, at one time I could never handle going to a football match, without getting a programme.
Now, I wouldn’t pick one up off of the floor if someone had dropped it.
Full of rubbish, Wenger spin, Capt Spin, player profiles/interviews for the retarded, Junior Gunners nonsense that make it look like a kids comic.
Too many pages, too many adverts, too much trivia, too expensive.
    Waste of money.

  145. potter says:

Tend to agree Kev , I have boxes of the things going back to the 60’s , but no more. I didn’t even get them at Wembley for cup finals , then again just lately I haven’t had to.

  146. devilgunner says:

    Hiya folks.

Back again. Getting really brown now. Nice sun tan which enhances my blue eyes.

There now that I am getting some envious looks I might as well continue with my usual AFC rants. 😉

Regarding the post of 4.20pm. I hate the phrase “I told you” but I have to repeat it. Boardroom politics between the directors and also the manager in this case are holding AFC back. If the boardroom and the manager work as one fekking team I think we WILL SWEEP THE FLOOR WITH ALL TEAMS IN THE PREMIER.

until the day when they start pulling the same rope, we will continue to fight for fourth place trophy.

  147. devilgunner says:

    Potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, peas, …….

………nothing tastes better then if they are straight out of your own garden.

Do you eat the eggs your chicks lay Rico?

    Evening.

  148. rico says:

Ditto re all the over priced crap the club try and sell…

I haven’t even got a shirt with Theo’s name printed on it 😉

But I do have one that he, Cesc and a few others signed. Now that must be worth a few pounds?

  149. rico says:

Hi devil, please stop going on about the med and the sunshine and your tan….!! 😉 😉

For sure re the eggs, sell a few and eat the others… So different to any from the supermarket, even the free range ones….

  150. potter says:

Mind you Cyprus potatoes have a unique flavour ,The red earth I should think , baked in their jackets . Very tasty. There used to be a stall on Green Lanes that sold sacks of them but I think EEC rules means he has to sell Maris Piper . At least that’s what he told me.

  151. rico says:

Ah, but when potatoes travel they gain starch, so they might be tasty, but not as good for you 😉

  152. potter says:

    Quite nice in Paphos though.

Then again most things are .

Anyway got to go now , have a pub quiz to run.

  153. devilgunner says:

Gundogan is the next one to be mentioned for a transfer to AFC.

    Who is next??

As long as we manage to sign Jesus and the Pope I will be happy.

Then I will start believing in miracles.

  154. rico says:

Anyway, enough of all that, Celebrity Masterchef is on my planner and I’m off to try and pick up a few cooking tips…

Been a fun old day, have a good evening all…

Night Devil, Adam, Ts and anyone else who is tuned in…

Catch up tomorrow – on a day when England set out to secure the Ashes 🙂

  155. devilgunner says:

If Bale leaves, there will be no one to BALE them out. Granted they might buy some players with the fee they get. But I feel it will all end tits up.

  156. NashuaGunners says:

Ginge, let us know how Dennilson perform if he played. I know I would be reading Kev and you later on during the night.

Good night Rico, Adam, dg and Potter. T’morrow is another day.

  157. Micko says:

tsgh 5.15, we just got the black and white pudding over here mate !
Kev 6.46, you’ve converted me, I can honestly say I’ve finally seen the light, just hang on to the Walsall programme will ya.
Adam 8.11, it’s nice out, think I’ll get mine out !
It’s not all bad, looks like we’re still favourites to sign Jack Shit this window.

  158. allezkev says:

    Nasher, this is for you…..

Mick, that Walsall programme is yours mate.
I used to have a collection going back to the 1930’s, but I sold most of old progs in 2004 before I moved. I had some really good ones, but there ya go, easy come, easy go…

Potter, I know what you mean mate about cup final programmes.
A total fecking rip-off… Stopped getting them after the cup double of 1993.
Too big, too expensive, full of adverts, full of crap, impossible to put in your pocket…
The FA/Football League, can stick ’em up their anus..,

And with that vivid image in your minds, I shall bid all you happy Gooners/AKB’s/Doomers, a fair goodnight…

    And goodnight Mick….

  159. potter says:

Well it used to be Chelsea then City now it’s Monaco and PSG as well that are distorting the market, couple this with the Russians and of course United. Looks like it’s everybody else’s fault.

Or just maybe it’s yours Arsene.

  160. Bradster says:

    Morning all,

Have all of the super rich had their fill yet? Can we start picking up the scraps? Didn’t Wenger say that’s how it works?

  161. tsgh says:

Sir Alex Ferguson turns down peerage and seat in House of Lords

The 71-year-old has decided to turn down the chance of becoming a lord after vowing to put his wife Cathy first

  162. Adam says:

Morning Rico and all. No Lord Nez Rouge of Govan then.
I just read Steven Gerrard’s pathetic bleating about Suarez. There seems to be so much hand-wringing coming out of Liverpool and a host of ex players with greying moustaches having their say, mostly to say that the move to us would be a step down. Funny, I don’t remember much sympathy over the years as our best players left.
Still, the silence from Arsenal is deafening. I imagine Wenger is just about to play his decisive card.

  163. rico says:

    I detest that man Ts…

Morning Adam, I think Mr me me me is sacred he’s going to lose his playmate…

  164. Adam says:

If you read Gerard’s comments it seems that he is mostly bothered that Suarez doesn’t go to us but says that he should ” wait” for RM or Barcelona to come in. I suppose the equation for Liverpool is simple sell now for close to £50 million and have chance to spend that money on replacements, hold out for a bigger offer from Chelsea or some other club, or hang onto a player who is clearly a stroppy bugger who doesn’t find the prospect of lining up alongside a Jordan Henderson, Stewart Downing and an ageing captain with an ego the size of a planet for a club stuck interminably in the 80’s who play in a shithole.

  165. Adam says:

I must resist making a comment on that Rico. 🙂
Sansom is an alcoholic and addicted to gambling. He has been sleeping a park benches. Poor sod.
They reckon over 40 degrees today brudder Lee. For you that is. We have a mere 32 to look forward to, plus the exciting news that the manic and hysterical Jim White is going to break of course.

  166. Lee says:

Adam have you watched any “Breaking bad?” I started it and its the nuts, but I do like Luther!! 😉

  167. rico says:

    GOD IS A GOONER ‏@stevessr 5m
Kenny Sansom needs a helping hand at the moment ,Come on Arsenal and the FA help out a true LEGEND #EveryOneNeedsALittleHelpInLife #afc #FA

  168. Lee says:

It’s roasting here already, I went running at 7.00am and was sweating like a dog at a Korean barbecue!

  169. rico says:

    Amy Lawrence ‏@amylawrence71 1m
It’s my hunch that AFC will spend – probably spend pretty big. At this point, lord knows who or when. Not me, anyway…

  170. Adam says:

Lee. After your recommendation I decided I would give BB a go so I ordered the first series from Lovefilm.
I believe Luther to be one of the worst things ever and a complete waste of licence payers money. It is not even in the “so bad, it’s good” category for me. But, I discover that certain friends of mine, whose taste I never questioned in the past, love it. I must conclude that it is me in the wrong then and I am prepared to accept whatever punishment you see fit. I will sit through the whole Star Wars, Harry Potter and Lord Of The Ring films as penance.

  171. rico says:

Indeed Lee – I can’t believe that the last series might be the last ever series….

Adam will be pleased though 😉

  172. Adam says:

Luther was awesome but I am just not bright nor tasteful enough to realise it. Everything about it was so real and feasible.

  173. Adam says:

But I do prefer the Joan Collins Snickers advert. Now THAT is quality and so real. Joan, in the blue dress. Oh yes.
