Five year deal done, then out. Karim Benzema it is then, if Rafa Benitez plays Ronaldo as striker….

Morning all.

Carl Jenkinson has reportedly signed a new five year contract. Well I for one am chuffed to bits. He had a good season for West Ham and enjoyed being a regular starter and clearly benefitted from being trusted to play under Big Sam. But clearly not just Sam thought a lot of Jenks as West Ham, under a new manager, are taking him back on a season long loan which I think will be his last away from his home club.

Great for him and of course for Arsenal as when he returns he’ll be even more experienced and ready for our first team. I still believe that one day he’ll make a cracking centre back….

The boys have landed safely in Singapore, here they all are looking jolly!

Singapore

Bit bright eh!

I’m looking forward to watching the younger players like Chris Willock, Alex Iwobi, Jon Toral and Daniel Crowley in action over the next few days as no doubt Arsene Wenger will be assessing if they are ready or not to make the step up, or go out on loan. All are still quite young but that didn’t stop Hector Bellerin last season. In fact without him performing as well as he did, Arsenal would have been snookered. I wonder if Iwobi possesses much of his uncle Jay-Jay Okocha’s skills, if so we could be in for a treat.

Jon Toral is the elder of the four having turned 20 years old back in February, so in theory, this could very well be his break-through season if he has a good tour and performs well in the other pre-season fixtures. Injuries have been cruel to him since he arrived from Barcelona but like with others who have suffered similar, I hope those days are behind him.

None of the younger players are yet to be given a place in the first team squad on AFC.com but that could very well change before we kick-off against Chelsea in the Charity Shield.

Hector Bellerin, who signed for us at the same time as his fellow Spaniard Jon Toral has tipped Dan Crowley to be the next star:

He’s a really big talent. He showed it last year with the under-21s and his technique is really good.

He’s a player who likes to have the ball at his feet. He just needs a bit more experience and the tour is going to give him that.

He’s definitely a player to look out for.

Well thankfully, we can all keep an eye on him and his fellow team-mates as Sky Sports are covering the entire tour and it should be good albeit tough for the players in the heat..

Transfer gossip:

Well it’s Karim Benzema again today and that’s because Rafa Benitez apparently plans to play Ronaldo through the middle which would give the Frenchman less playing time…. lol

On that note…..

    Good Morning Lovelies and Hunkies.

Fine post boss. I am happy that Jenks has signed a contract till 2020. That means that AW sees him as a long term AFC player.

playing Ronaldo through the middle is my opinion as well. I would have bought him and put him there. Likewise with Bale. Especially against the Mancs and spuds. now that would be enjoyable.

Morning Bt, likewise for you re the summer….

Didn’t realise that re Sky, must check to see who is covering our other games…

  4. rico says:

Bt, the Sat game kicks off at 11am and SS1 are showing it but the two clubs involved aren’t know yet so maybe that’s why it doesn’t show ‘Arsenal’….

QUESTION for you guys: one argument for not buying a second DM could be BEILIK who had already started to play in the first team at his last club. And yet he isn’t even in the Asia squad?

    Morning all.
50 of my Arsenal Australia mates are we’d all like to be….Singapore.
The boys were very accomodating at the airport, and quite a few have never seen the Arsenal live, so although it’s not North London, it’s very special for them.

  7. Rick says:

    Afternoon Rico and the House,
They are unveiling the new away this afternoon in Singapore .
It is being shown live on the player at 2pm

  8. Bt62 Gooner says:

Thanks for clearing that up Rico, thought it strange, even the Arsenal site was not listing Sky for the Saturday matches..

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is still hoping to buy “one or two” more players in this transfer window.

The Frenchman has already added goalkeeper Petr Cech to his ranks but many believe the Gunners are still a couple of players short of challenging for the title.

Speaking in Singapore, ahead of the Barclays Asia Trophy, Wenger said: “It depends, if we find ideally what we want, we are still hoping to do something else.

“That doesn’t depend only on us, it depends on whether we can find them, but if we can find one or two players we will do it.”

I’m quite excited actually as today I’ve ordered myself a new travel bag as the wheel came off of my old one and a lovely set of bone china mugs…. 🙂

  11. Adam says:

As far as I can see everybody is either staying quiet or there really has been no decision yet. I have never known it so quiet really. I have my ideal signings, as do we all, but no worthy gossip as yet. 🙂

  12. Adam says:

I bought some really pretty and rather camp PIp mugs in Selfridges recently. I have chipped two of them already and they have been consigned to the porcelain bin of history.

  13. Bt62 Gooner says:

No, just a personal enquiry Adam, though i would think Brudder Lee make be familiar with the term…

  14. Bt62 Gooner says:

Night Adam, keep an eye out for the Astral Pirates, hope to be over early in the season…

  15. Micko says:

Bt, did you hear about the massive fire at Tayto park In Co. Mayo today ?

rico, have you seen those new swivel suit-cases out, they’re the hottest things on wheels around, wouldn’t be seen without one !

  16. Micko says:

Kev 4.54, you’d wanna get your washing machine serviced before you throw your mud-guards into it Wednesday morning lol.

  17. tsgh says:

Micko- you sound like a state trooper with that sign off… 🙂

    Morning Rico and all.
Who are we linked with today?

  18. Lee says:

As he’s only got a broken leg we won’t sign him….now if he had something trivial like a broken back Arsene would be all over him like a cheap suit!

Isolator should come with a Government health warning….. be careful Brudders!

So Le quiff wants a straightner with Thierry…..

  19. Lee says:

Olivier Giroud says he’s going to chat with Thierry Henry about those controversial comments from last season, but says there’s no problem between the two of them.

Speaking on Sky, Arsenal’s leading goalscorer made some clumsy remarks about the former Montpellier man – which he later clarified – but Arsenal’s current main striker say he’ll speak with him about it, if he runs into him as he continues doing his coaching badges at the training ground and the Hale End academy.

“I know Thierry and I knew what he wanted to mean,” he said.

“If I see him we will have a conversation between two men. I’m not angry against him but it’s true that I didn’t understand at first. But it’s alright. I’m not going to be upset about that.

“I’m sleeping well and as long as my family is OK that’s the main thing. It doesn’t affect me too much.”

Setting himself the target of more goals than last season (and this graph shows his goals to games ratio improved a lot 2014/15), he told the official site how he’s become better technically since arriving at the club.

“For sure I have improved my technique with my feet,” he said. “Technically it’s always nice to learn from the fantastic team-mates around me.

“In this way I improve myself, and in how to use my body as well. It’s always physically a big intensity in England. I think I improved physically, technically and I’m a better team-mate as well. Arsenal is not about one player, it’s a team effort. I try to link the play and set up the game.”

He also played down the idea of changing shirt number to 9 in the wake of Lukas Podolski’s departure.

“I don’t want to change because people have bought my shirt with the 12,” he continued.

“I’m not superstitious. I know the No.9 is for the attack leader but I will not be a better player if I wear a different number.”

Giroud faces competition for his place this season from Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck, as well as up and coming prospect Earl Glass-Striker.

  20. Joe says:

Morning all,4 long 10 hour days at work bits of me are starting to fall off I am knackered looking forward to the match to day though.
Hope the refs up to scratch BT 🙂
