Finally some news on an emotional day for Arsene Wenger & Ryo Miyaichi…..

Morning all,

But it’s not what we all wanted to hear.

Players are already injured, others are sitting out training…

Laurent Koscielny limped out of training with an ankle injury and Szczesny sat on the sidelines, only able to watch because of a back strain. Both are expected to miss this mornings penultimate friendly out in the far East. Nacho Monreal is also reported to be suffering a back injury which could see him miss the opening fixtures of the new season.

There is still a few weeks to go before all of that, hopefully enough time for all to fully recover….

A good few years ago now, Arsene Wenger arrived at Arsenal FC with a big label. No, not a Gucchi or Rolex, – his was ‘Arsene Who’…

That label soon left him as he literally blew the Premier League away with his ‘so very forward thinking’ way of playing football along with how to get the best out of players. Yes, even the older players went on for a few more seasons because of him and him alone….

Arsene Wenger managed todays opponents Nagoya Grampus for 18 months before joining us and to this day, he remains a star in the club and fans eyes.. During his short reign, Nagoya Grampus won two cups and finished as runner-up in the league.

This is the first time our manager has been back……..

Incidentally, one player he managed during his time with the club was Dragan Stojkovic, who is now manager of his old club….

He has nothing but praise for his old boss:

We shared a lot of good moments. For me, this was an unforgettable period – 1995 and 1996 as a player I really enjoyed.

I gave my best, I gave my talent, I helped my team and we had a very good connection, a very good understanding. [Wenger] was the boss on the bench and I was the boss on the pitch, so it was a good combination.

Practically every year I went to London to visit and watch Arsenal train. Arsenal is a team that I love a lot. I love how they play, the style and spirit of the team.

What we’ve learned from Arsene Wenger here is the team spirit and the family spirit. Don’t be surprised to see people working in Nagoya for a long time. We keep that spirit and we keep the family atmosphere [like at Arsenal].

I’m sure that Monday, July 22 will be a very special day. We are honoured to welcome one of the most prestigious teams in the world.

The special and very strong link between Nagoya and Arsenal is [down to] Arsene Wenger, who was in charge of Nagoya for almost two years. We have waited for 17 years to see him here again so it’s a really special feeling for everyone here.

We often talk about who would be the right man to replace Arsene Wenger, well Stojkovic has been mentioned many times to possibly be that man. But not yet….

Ryo Miyaichi also returns to his home country for the first time together with his new team-mates…..

Today should be a stronger test for our boys and I am sure they will again rise to the occasion…

Maybe not so many goals, but if the players get another good workout and the younger ones carry on where they left off, if should be another good game.

One which should be enjoyed…

It’s a friendly, let’s not lose sight of that…

Have a good day all….

The big news are bad ones. I hope they recover quickly for the Man.city game and the new season. The new injuries might be because of their extra-hard workouts

  2. Bradster says:

Does anyone know what Campbell is up to during our tour and why he did not go with?
Surely he should’ve got a look in down the left?

  3. rico says:

Not sure all the paperwork has been sorted Bradster, Arsenal haven’t even confirmed he has got his permit as far as I know..

  4. tsgh says:

    Morning honorable HHers,

I am really looking forward to seeing the game in the next hour or so…

Stojkovic is one of my fave players of all time.. a true great but like all of AW’s great signings, Stojkovic was injury prone and was not able to play to at the highest level for long. During his days at Red Star he was immense. And I remember him and Papin at Marseille against AC in 1990 CL final…

WATH, how was the flogging by Udday? 😉

  5. NW says:

There’s much more in football than just numbers ands wins.

Its about having fun and the entertainment. Hard work and skills.

On the other hand, it is sad that we have to look at the wallet. But then, that happens to everything in our life.

  6. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Mornung to the Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

Rico – I’m going for James or Charlotte for the new addition to the royal family.

  7. tsgh says:

Man ure are using a standard diversion tactic to take the interest of the Wooney crisis I am certain of that.

  8. Canadian Gooner says:

I’m looking forward to this morning’s game as NGE should give our team more competition than they have had so far.

  9. tsgh says:

Lily or Mercedez for me Cg 🙂

Or even Chantelle,Crystal,Chardonnay, Kai, Chelsea, Alesha, Logan all in the name of being ‘normal’

  10. rico says:

We shouldn’t be this summer NW

Morning Cg, James is a nice one… I can see Elizabeth and Diana somewhere or Charles and Edward

  11. tsgh says:

Dragan prefers 3-5-2 so we shall see home much pressure they put on our Jricho wall of a defence…

We have conceded less than 10 goals in 16 games in all competitions.

  12. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – I’m not so sure there. ManUre definitely need a creative midfielder, especially if they lose Wooney. It might just be a hopeful shot in the dark, but they have nothing to lose. Moyes has enough on his mind already to take time for mind games. That is one skill where he is definitely not in the same class as Arsene.

  13. tsgh says:

🙂 Rico, Man u get turned down a lot… Moura, Lewandowski even Strootman is rumoured to have turned them down…

  14. S2S says:

Good morning to all of you in U.K ,

On the note of Dragan, I remembered this famous video of the man

Absolutely amazing, I bet even the Beckhams and Ronaldinhos’of this world would be proud of that.

    TS:

Whenever we listen to any of the former players of Arsene, they make you believe, he was a dream manager to play for but he may not be a dream manager for fans.

  15. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – Chelsea?????? – wash your mouth out with soap. The royal family would never use a partisan name like that.

  16. tsgh says:

Cg, he is definitely not astute enough in the mind games department, but I think the tactic is coming from the board or chairman. In my view of course, but I think since the CF04 bid, the reported interest and unhappiness of Wooney has stopped making headline news.

  17. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – Have you been having Wheatabix and GG for breakfast again? Apple or Seraphin, really, why not Dweezil or Moon Unit ala Frank Zapa. I think your carrying the common touch to far into yuppiedom.

  18. tyno says:

Can’t just get a nap. Take a bath and move to the pub. Will just watch chuks, Gnabry, Zelalem, then I’ll be happy.

  19. tsgh says:

Hi S2s, that was a sublime effort.

You certainly make a good point there; even ‘Glenda Hoodle’ talks fondly about AW…

That is the reason why when I hear so called experts say AW is scared of managing big players I just laugh! In the late 80’s and 90’s Klinsman and Ramón Díaz were amongst the bigger players in world football. I am not even mentioning Weah or Glenn…

    Cg, what about Kensington? 😛

  20. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – I remember commenting at the time of Auld Whisky Nose’s farewell address, when he mentioned Wooney’s transfer request, that it was an unusual thing for him to be saying. He was no longer the manager and it was strange for him to be announcing that Vain had asked for a transfer. I speculated that it may have been a tactic to take some of the resulting pressure off Moyes.

  21. rico says:

Good point there S2S, not many have knocked the man as a manager, but then he does tend to look after players very well…Too well some might say..

  22. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – You’re too too much this morning. To say you are taking the Mickey would be an understatemnet. Please, let us stick to football, before this degenerates into another day of talking about nothing, zero and/or spandex.

  23. rico says:

Fabianski, Jenkinson, Sagna, Mertesacker, Gibbs, Rosicky, Arteta, Ramsey, Ryo, Giroud, Walcott

Subs: Martinez, Miquel, Wilshere, Olsson, Aneke, Gnabry, Eisfeld, Zelalem, Podolski, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Akpom

  24. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – Arsene had a ruthless streak early in his managership and I think we are seeing that re-emerging.

When money was tight during and immediately after the construction of Ashburton Grove, he had little money for purchasing players. He had to keep what he had and make it work. So, he was forced to be more concilliatory especially with the younger players. Although the likes of David Bentley and Jermaine Pennant must have forced him to the wall.

  25. jude says:

where are the likes of the Brazilian Willington, galido and other young prayer who have been in Arsenal young team

  26. C Hills says:

Yea rico, you got the KO time wrong for our sumo boxing match.

Apparently someone’s transfer clause is €250 million and someone somewhere is willing to pay it. Should we all stop watching football?

  27. emma says:

Manure are using the pursuit of Cesc as a PR(public relation) stunt to appease their supporters with regards to shriek situation. At the end of the day they will end up signing Denilson 😉
Need my Cupatea before the match starts 😉

  28. Canadian Gooner says:

I’ll check back after the game. Unfortunately I don’t have enough memory to keep the game and the House open at the same time, unless I want to see the players move like they were swimming in tracle or have the screen freeze only for the game to resume some minutes later.

  29. rico says:

Totally agree Cg, said similar in a post a while back when it was rumoured about Gerv going. Seems it could be two seasons and gone if players don’t come up to scratch…

    Has to be good imho..

I doubt the game will be anything like a sumo wrestle Ch.

    I’d so laugh emma ….

  30. rico says:

Espn commentator says ‘now live to North London for Arsenals friendly against Nagoya Grampus’..

What a twurp… We are in Japan 😉

  31. C Hills says:

Sumo boxing, I said, rico. You don’t know about it?
Whatever happened to Denilson. I thought he would be a big star.

    Are we 3 up yet?

  32. tsgh says:

Our defending looks very solid… especially with both Ramsey and MA08 patrolling the midfield.

    Even Robson is praising AR16

  33. tsgh says:

Wonderful play by Ramsey… another praise from Robson…

I am thinking it is Scott impersonating Robson 😛

  34. tsgh says:

CJ25 is a bit hesitate today… he should be cementing the RB spot because Sagna is now our 3rd choice CB.

  35. tsgh says:

Robson says he likes zonal marking… what is happening 😮

    Or a combination of both…

This is a man who slated AW for using zonal marking.

  36. tsgh says:

It is true though Rico. lol
When SC19 and JW are playing with Ma08… they both look for SC19 in the final third whenever they need to make a pass.

    Good defending by Sagna.

  37. S2S says:

    Ts, Rico:

My take on all this 70M spending thing is that if Arsene doesn’t want to spend some of it then next season we should take some out of it create Arsenal Initiative, buy good land in Africa and ask Arsene to move there and teach kids good football with nice education facilities and that should how we should say adios to him.

But there should always be one clause that we shall always have first right to buy an Arsene player. I am sure he’d love it and kids will love him as well. It will be nicest gesture from nicest and classiest of clubs and I am sure our sponsors will happily fund such a project.

  38. tsgh says:

Rico, teams starting pre-season are less fitter than teams in the middle of the season. Especially since the boys are training at least 2 times daily.

  39. rico says:

    Walcott is poop again today…

I have a feeling Giroud is going to have a much better season, his passing is more snappy and he looks a little quicker…

  40. tsgh says:

ah yes Rico re 12:02. I get it now. 🙂

You agreeing with me and Robson loving Ramsey… wow I need to buy the lottery ticket today. 😀

  41. rico says:

Spooky Ts, I was just sat here thinking that Arteta has to really be fearing for his place in the first team…

  42. tsgh says:

Walcott, 1 goal since February… it is showing..

But as I say he is a big game player. ANd I mean that!

  43. tsgh says:

CH, playing safe I would say like Serge did during the first game.

We should remember the boys probably trained about 2 hours a few hours earlier.

  44. SD_UK says:

If Giroud continues like this , Higuain or Suareze might come and find themselves on the bench.

    That will be something.

  45. C Hills says:

Which brings me right back to where I started. Until I see a player holding up an arsenal shirt, I will always have a bag of salt beside me while reading the papers.

  46. rico says:

SD, certainly Higuain. And Suarez for six games 😉

    Enjoyable half i thought…

    Now for the kids….

  47. tsgh says:

SD, we have a very good squad… the players need to first believe in themselves and stop listening to the media about big signings and 2 they need to learn to be consistent.

  48. C Hills says:

Well, he has scored. Thanks for the heads up rico and Ginge.

I hope nothing is wrong with AR16 Ginge?

  49. tsgh says:

Even MF will struggle to displace Ramsey on this form.

But on a serious note, we need depth to the squad. Without Ramsey, MA08 looks like a pensioner in midfield.

Saying that he was poor last summer during pre-season but he raised his game when August arrived.

  50. stevepalmer1 says:

Afternoon all ,Nice one Rico. Ryo scores and what a blinding penalty. Walcott is still frustrating me like mad, but Sagna looks compact as centre half. Giroud whith a header on target, but our final ball is played to space instead of to feet. Change of players for second half hopefully they pass better.

  51. tsgh says:

I think passing into space makes opposing defenders commit… its better than square passes surely.

    Oh Theo… how many chances…

  52. tsgh says:

Aw has not wasted no time converting Gedion from a traditional no.6 to a no.10…. he can’t help it can he. 😛

  53. tsgh says:

No Sir SP1, we are making things look easier than it actually is…

The good thing is we are not conceding goals either… a good balance.

  54. S2S says:

Ts, It will be Nigeria for Kanu. But I think if it will be a huge PR as well as brand and futuristic move by us if we do that. If Arsenal go to any country and tell PM that they want to do this and Arsene himself will be incharge of that then in that case they’d gladly give that land for free.

Heck if we want to do that in my state in India, I can make a proposal and get that land for free in a year. This move will be bigger than Barca’s UNICEF thing. Trust me.

  55. S2S says:

Btw..is Bernard really that big a deal? Somewhere I read its worth 21M!!! Is he that good a player?

  56. S2S says:

Ts: Would it not be better to give game time to Serge and Joel when we need to and spend those 17M somewhere else? That sounds crazy money for 20 year old when we have up and coming 20yrs old LWs at club already.

  57. rico says:

    Very boring…..

He’s meant to be pretty good S2S, haven’t seen him though so can’t comment.. A few other sides are in for him too, including our neighbours…

Swansea are looking to sign a CH, Williams on his way out I wonder?

  58. tsgh says:

I said the same a few days back… s2s. As I said this is Aw we are talking about… 21M is overly high imho especially considering his size.

Saying that I think Bernard is very different to JC.

  59. Bradster says:

Well I see he is due for his medical with us Friday. Funny thing is how many players were rumoured before to have plenty of medicals with us.

I like Bernard, he reminds me of Fabragas with more versatility similar to Cazorla.

  60. Bradster says:

I haven’t heard of an extension either. Last I heard was he had 1 year left and wants to fight for number 1 at Arsenal.

  61. S2S says:

I haven’t either Rico. All I have seen is couple of youtube videos where he’s displaying some of the Carlos Vela kind of tricks. The difference between the two is he looks little faster.

And look at the wingers we have LP9, TW14, OC, Santi and emergency wingers like JW, TR7 and AR16 and still we haven’t considered young players who could play there like Yaya, Tomas, Ryo, Joel, Serge and all. So why on earth such crazy money for 20 years old winger?

  62. rico says:

Ditto Bradster, in fact I thought he’d be looking to leave really, two Poles against each other in a WC year is not good for either imho…

S2S, just why I think there is little truth in the story, I wouldn’t get to wound up about it unless it happens.

I’m hoping our first two signings are a striker and a defence DM/HM kind of midfielder…

  63. tsgh says:

S2s, serge got 2 ankle injuries last season. Reason he did not feature much… this season he will get his chance. I feel sorry for Eisfield no chance today…

  64. Canadian Gooner says:

Little Mozart was one our best players. It’s hard to get the ball of him, he has eye for a pass and we are more direct when he plays.

  65. Canadian Gooner says:

Wilshere is beginning to come into his own. He too has an eye for a pass. You could see he was trying to do a Cesc and thread the needle, but his aim and timing are a little off. If he has a good pre-season and stays fit, he will continue to improve as the season progresses and we might see his full potential.

  66. emma says:

Cg – ditto on Rosicky. If he can remain healthy all season it will be a very good season. Wilshere played very well and he is going to get better as his fitness level improves

  67. Canadian Gooner says:

emma – Yes! Although TR7 and MA8 are getting older they are still contributing to the team. They like Sagna will be used less and less over the next one or two seasons as we ease in some of our younger players like JW10, AR16 and CJ25. This will give us some stability and the benefit of some older, calmer and experienced heads as the younger players gain more experience. The older players will become squad players filling in for injured and missing players. Meanwhile we will start to blood and integrate some of the Young Guns on show on the Asian Tour. If we can add some spice to that with the addition of the likes of Gustavo, higuain &/or Suarez and the team is ready to rock.

  68. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – Maybe, maybe not. Arsene doesn’t consider a player signed until he has passed his medical, both clubs and the player have signed the applicable contracts and forms and Arsenal have received the player’s registration forms. Apparently there is a third party which owns a large chunk of Bernard, that adds an additional layer of complexity to negotiations and sign-off. Arsenal may or may not be well along to making this deal, either way he is not signed. Once again we’ll have to wait and see. Life’s a bitch for the humble supporter isn’t it.

  69. Canadian Gooner says:

It has all gone very quiet. I hope I haven’t scared everybody away or worse – put them to sleep.

  70. Canadian Gooner says:

CH – I rarely leave them cold.

Adam – Leather pants, even colourful red ones, don’t make good beachwear.

Rico – Good afternoon. Any news on the royal maternity?

  71. Adam says:

CG. I merely strolled along the promenade looking for a waft of cool air but none was forthcoming. I also found myself getting impatient over Wenger’s inactivity in the market. All sorts of weird scenarios crossed my mind.

  72. rico says:

Sorry Adam, I missed your opener. Hi to you and yes, is a hot ‘nasty’ one today. A storm is brewing for sure….

  73. Adam says:

Wenger normally only buys when we have bad results but the Pre-season games have been good.
When I hear him say we will strengthen ” IF” possible and then go on to say we have a good squad as it is, I will start to worry. The home fans will not accept it this year.

  74. rico says:

Comments like that I ignore Ch…

Ah, I haven’t read all that from him, but i think is all just him being him with he press..

  75. Adam says:

I met with a bunch of long-term supporters last evening. I was the most positive one there. The vibe is bad. Much worse than I thought and trust levels are at an all-time low it seems.

  76. Canadian Gooner says:

Adam – “…All sorts of weird scenarios crossed my mind.” Knowing your vivid imagination, those scenarios could run the full gamut.

  77. Adam says:

CG. ‘Tis cursed I am with this mind but I am conditioned by Wenger’s failures too and am hoping that lightening doesn’t strike again, for the 10th time. I really wonder if anyone at Arsenal actually ” gets” the fans at all.

  78. Adam says:

CH, believe it or not, I do know that. I also know how crucial to the future of the club the next few weeks are.

  79. C Hills says:

And to think that they’ve been talking the talk, Adam. I hope they understand, for the sake of the club.

  80. Canadian Gooner says:

The evening has come and gone. So, I must off to bed. Hopefully I’ll awake to joyful news of a royal birth to add to the encouraging result in Japan.

Have a great day fellow Gooners. Keep The Faith!

Adam – Try not to fret too much. We still have time.

  81. rico says:

see if yo can work his o.

my keyboard is sill broken even hogh is been o he menders so my commens will no make sense 🙂

No ha hey ever do 😉

  82. allezkev says:

Goals from Ryo, Theo and Ollo.

How did Miyaichi play Rico, and hello btw.

Adam, hiya mate, down by the coast?
    Sounds good.

  83. rico says:

Hi Kev – bear wih my wriing..

    Ryo was ok, good pen

1st half was good, 2nd half no so clinical…

  84. tsgh says:

    Hello again,

Hi Kev, I saw your post on the bashing we took at Boreham wood… I was really tempted to go and see them but it was gonna take nearly 3 hours on train so I gave up…

Anyway, I think our boy Bellerin will be fast tracked into the RB spot. It is still a shame Nico has not been involved.

On Ryo, he played it safe which is what you want from a young boy breaking into the team. Like Gnabry is doing at a senu=ior level he is choosing to use his white matter instead of ego…

    Sagna is a new signing.

Cg, you indeed scared me off; night buddy. lol

  85. tsgh says:

Barca, have officially rejected the improved CF04 bid…

With Gedion fortunately and unfortunately ready I think we may not buy in CM. Aneke as I predicted will be the poor man Diaby or better yet Yaya Toure. The moment AW started playing him in CD, I new he was earmarked for CM, or DM role.

I also suspect AW has made up his mind Kristofer is not ready physically yet. If frimps can play 20 minutes in the Erms cup then I suspect AW will only buy a CB/RW and a striker.

Miquel will cover for Gibbs until Monreal is fit again in 5 or 6 weeks.

  86. tsgh says:

”It’s my mission to land Fabregas, vows Moyes as United wait on second bid… now they will have to smash their club record for Barca ace’

Idiotic statement… he should give us kagawa for free and then he might have a remote chance of landing CF04. 😡

  87. tsgh says:

Oh… shite, Hiddink set to take over at Barcelona he quits Anzhi to lead Messi and Co at the Nou Camp.

  88. tsgh says:

With Guus arriving or if he should take over CF will definitely stay. He is a manager who would love CF04. He like AW are from the same school as Cruyff, apart from the fact that Guus is a mercenary.

  89. Adam says:

In some ways Cesc could hold the key to a number of things. If Man Utd bought him and we turned down the chance to resign him, then I think that would be the end for Wenger, unless he makes 3 other massive signings.

  90. tsgh says:

I am with you there Adam, but I think Higuain, Ibrahimovic and Suarez moving could cause a positive domino effort especially at Arsenal. The longer the likes of Wooney or Suarez drag their feet in pushing for a move the more difficult we would find opportunities to buy come August.

  91. Adam says:

TS. But if Higuain chooses Napoli, Rooney Chelsea and RM then have the dosh to buy Suarez, what will that say about Wenger’s policies? I say that if you want a player then sometimes you have to pay over the odds to get them. Look at the money we asked and got for Adebayor and Toure, to name but two. We took advantage that we had players that, for some odd reason called Mark Hughes, Man City wanted. It seems to me that Wenger operates in a bubble but he underestimates that he has huge bridges to build with the fans who I believe have cut him a whole lot of slack for years and especially in the last few months. That single point advantage from last year hides the fact that, inside the Emirates, the atmosphere was poisonous at times and I really thought the place was going to explode. Wenger, in sending out no message, is sending out the wrong message. If Cesc ends up at MU, then for me Wenger is finished.

  92. allezkev says:

To me Adam, and as we discussed post the Newcastle game in May, I will be happy if Wenger signs Suarez.
We no, I won’t be happy, I will be ecstatic.
In most other positions of the squad, we could do with strengthening, yes, but I reckon a shit-hot striker would convert Arsenal from top-four material into title contenders…
If the Far East tour has shown us anything, it’s that we have 4 or 5 top quality youngsters on the cusp of being 1st team squaddies…
We just lack that ‘killer’ in front of goal…
    It certainly isn’t Walcott!!!

  93. allezkev says:

What I meant Adam, was that I wanted Wenger to spend all his dosh on top quality strikers…
The heat is doing me in… 🙁

  94. ktr7 says:

Gerard ‘Tata’ martino to barca on a 3 year deal.According to BBC Sandro Rosell has categoretically told the mancs they are not getting Cesc.its not like they have able replacements lying around.

  95. Adam says:

In general I agree Kev but I think that to compete, over a season, on many fronts we need another 2 quality strikers, to be rid of Gervinho, a serious midfield player who likes to anchor the defence and a proper wide man. I am completely unconvinced about the youngsters. I have been down that road too many times.
If we don’t start the season with a quality squad then…
I know what you mean about this infernal heat though.

  96. Adam says:

Rico. Obviously I am talking about if he does leave Barcelona. He always said he wanted to come back.
Wenger is so reactive in the transfer market and it all stems from having an owner who can’t really compete with the big boys, or doesn’t want to. I don’t like the over inflated prices any more than anyone else, but that is the game. Put up or shut up I say.

  97. ktr7 says:

rico cesc isn’t leaving for anyone imo.it would be a daft move from barca since that would leave them well short in midfield after thiago’s departure and an able replacement in this market would be quite expensive.also cesc played the most amount of minutes last season compared to any outfield player.he is vital to them.

  98. C Hills says:

I don’t see why we are getting worked up as a result of Moyes trying to show he knows the creme de la creme of footballers.

  99. Adam says:

CH. I don’t think anybody is getting worked up over anything that twat Moyes has or is doing. My concern is Arsenal. Always has been.

TS. But if Higuain chooses Napoli, Rooney Chelsea and RM then have the dosh to buy Suarez, what will that say about Wenger’s policies?

I think that is unfair imho. We bid a reasonable amount for Suarez, is it up to AW to say have the stadium as collateral as we want a one season wonder?

The alleged £70M we have is due to AW using what we have reasonably well. You and many may disagree but I will defend AW staunchly by referring you to the situation over at Liverpool. They have won 2 trophies since we last won one and outspent us but can anyone honestly say the 2nd most successful team in the country is better placed than us?

On Mark Hughes buying Toure and Adebayor, note $hitty were trying to make a statement and the buyer was willing to.

CH. I don’t think anybody is getting worked up over anything that twat Moyes has or is doing. My concern is Arsenal. Always has been.

    It can’t be said any better… 😛

  103. C Hills says:

Ok then, Rodgers, you can have The Emirates as collateral pending when we pay up the €120million.
    I am still laughing Ginge.

  104. tsgh says:

Adam, people like you are the true Arsenal. It is a shame when Islington bred gooners like yourself feel letdown by the way the club is being managed. I know it is a double edged sword ie 2 way street. You fork out a lot for your ST and expect a service and it can be frustrating when you feel you are not getting value for money. But all I will say is take heart and try to look at the positive side of things.

Personally, I like the fact that as a 2nd generation gooner (only) my lil boy will be lucky to enjoy Arsenal that gives me something to be passionate about. It could have been a portsmouth-like situation if we did not have Aw in charge and even PHW 😉 lol

  105. tsgh says:

kt, just how good you thought we were in the first half and how stalwart Sagna was at the back.

My only worries are the form of MA08 and the BFG. It looks like without Ramsey we are really looking very porous in the middle.

I liked how Aneke came in a did a very decent job as one part of the double pivot.

  106. Adam says:

TS. If Suarez is worth £35 million, then he is worth £40 million. I don’t want Wenger to use the Emirates as collateral at all. The difference in these two valuations is what that creep Arshavin picked up last year for doing nothing. And as you introduced the term one-season wonder, I would mention Arshavin again. We have squandered millions and millions on unsuitable players and today’s football is a stupid place with no foot in the real world. Top players cost ludicrous money but if you can’t afford them, then you won’t get them. I simply point out that another season of underachievement will cost the club more than a few million quid. It will cost something that money simply cannot buy at any price.

  107. tsgh says:

CH, I take it the gingerman now pretending to know about the beautiful game is not your biggest role model?lol

  108. tsgh says:

re 7:19 I am with you and i think most people on here do understand your feelings… but as you rightly stated a few days back, what stopped Le Squid from joining FC Bastia last summer and in January? What stopped the depressed AA23 from going back home when he was creeping away from his marital bed anyways.

When we bought AA23 he was touted as one of the best wingers/strikers in Europe. Do I beleieve Aw messed him about or miss used him? NO! AA23 was always a luxury player who would give you 2 or 3 flashes of magic in a game but at least he was effect.

The question I would ask though is why Aw thought SC19 was more suitable as a no.10 but AA23 was not especially after the departure of CF04? In my view both players flatter to deceive… it may sound harsh but I have seen enough of both players over the last 3 or 4 years to form that conclusion.

When a ground man can not be asked to motivate himself but shirk away from responsibility then it is hard to defend them…

I have repeated this several times but it is still relevant to this discussion. rednose bought 4 players last summer but only 1 was useful. kagawa was poorer than Poldi and was more expensive but i read a lot of fans views on Poldi and it is completely untrue to say the least.

Poldi scored 16 goals and had 11 assists for a semi-fit debutante.

  109. C Hills says:

Ts, that would be Arsenal, footbalistically. But it was impossible not to laugh when you said that. Am not sure I know the gingerman but, if you could sandwich bread between g and m I won’t be in Far and Away.

  110. rico says:

Totts are on he verge of signing a sriker..

Come on Arsene/Gazidis, give s some news real soon….

  111. ktr7 says:

i think so far arteta looks headed to being a squad player.Ramsey has been our best midfielder so far and he looks guaranteed to start imo.i’ve especially enjoyed his techincal dribbling something arteta looks incapable of.against bayern last season he really struggled under pressure and now he looks to have improved that aspect of his game which will help in top level games against pressing sides.

Sagna looks like a natural at CB and i would give him a new contract asap.we should not let experienced players leave.BFG has looked leggy so far but he is a different kind of CB to anyone we have so we have to hope he regains form.

On the performance i like the speed and crispness of passing at times especially from rosicky but we still aren’t creating enough chances that are clear cut.Zelalem seems to be our only player that can slice open a chance regularly.jack seems to not get the right measure of his pass so far.Ox is more of a direct runner not vision type AM.we need to improve or find an external solution there.

  112. tsgh says:

Even if we had bid £50M for suarez, I bet my last pound, the dippers would have asked for £10M more… no haggler tells a potential buyer you are giving me too much 😉

And AA23 almost single handedly made us qualify for the CL worth over £25M, so in a way he paid for himself. it could be argued that Gerv’s equaliser at $hitty giving us the points contributed to us finishing above the dippers.

On a serious note though, I think I know a bit about European football to say that apart from maybe Rooney and CFo4, there are not players available who will make our starting 11 come match day 1 in August. And that includes Higuain and MF…

  113. tsgh says:

kt, that is why I want a number 10 if one is available. CF04 possibly. lol

It takes too many of our players going forward to create a chance.

I was saying earlier today that it did not take long for Monsieur Wenger to convert GZ35 to a younger version of Lothar Matthias by pushing him further up field.

I think Aw is aware of what you just mentioned; that is why he plays Zelalem further up. The issue is that like SC19 and JW10, I noticed when things get difficult for them they both sit deeper making us more toothless.

i think Aneke will be tested again in the DM role. He has the brains and the strength to do a good job there…

  114. tsgh says:

Hey goonie… long long time… were you arrested in Manila for chatting up the president’s daughter?… lol

  115. tsgh says:

Ch, the ginger man is Moyes of course. He used budget as an excuse to play negative football at Everton; now all of a sudden he is trying to be Rijkaard or Pep… lol

  116. goonster says:

hahahahahaha ginge….i ve been too busy buddy. hey rico, how is it going maam? i wish y’all liked crazy! did i just say y’all? God help me. am a REDNECK already!

  117. goonster says:

meant missed….stupid spellcheck…..grrrrrr. hey where is AK WATH DG10 devil AGAG sir steve and my irish bum mate micko! is everyone alright. i miss my family like crazy.

  118. tsgh says:

On Sagan new contract, even last season when most were bashing his performances I always defended him like I did with Ramsey.

I always maintained sagna’s poor performances should partly be blamed on Theo offering zilch cover and support. sagana played CB for Auxerre quiet often during his time there…

  119. goonster says:

i see we re about to sign bucktooth suarez?? good sign him up says i? is that benard story credible?? i see l’equippe is currently running it too. from what i ve seen of him in GLOBO(brazillian sports station) he is average. i say suarez all the way. just to piss the scousers off.

  120. tsgh says:

Goonie, you sold your soul to George bush and his red necks so easily… lol

Good to hear from you. Micko will be around soon i guess. He is probably watering the garden with guiness. 🙂

Ch, we need cover in key areas especially experienced one’s…

As i said I suspect AW is waiting to see how Frimps and Abu Dhabi are progressing before he makes a move in that position. if both can give us at least 10 games next season we will be ok… not ideal but worth the gamble unless we are getting someone like cabaye, Morgan Schneiderlin or MF. I was thinking bender or Ginter will make a move to us but they want to stay especially before a WC.

I am with Kev though a top striker is a must. Then possibly a Cb if Tv is not going to be fit this side of christmas.

  121. ktr7 says:

Goonieeeee 🙂 hope you are good.

ts creativity is quite an issue.jack/ox seem more dribble oriented than vision type of AMs.Zelalem seems to have eagle vision which cannot be taught and its incredible.

Speaking of jack i think his dribbling is quite an issue for him.when you watch jack motor forward you’ll notice that he likes to use brute force and acceleration to drive foward.this is fine in deep areas of midfield since there are more spaces there.

In order to play as an AM he has to assert more control to his dribble to allow him to set him up properly for a pass/shot.so many times he seems to not be in full control and he ends up having to rush that pass/shot since he gets crowded out.just look at how messi/iniesta do it you’ll see the difference.

  122. goonster says:

beneath all the quiet exterior something is bubbling under waiting to explode and blow us all out of the water. arsene is a mean poker player. i ll bet he is roaring with laughter inwardly, he is so infuriating its almost bewitching! God help me.

  123. goonster says:

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay KT is back too. what is this family reunion?? i pop back you crept out under your rock too. what’s next rectrum spectrum’s karma chasing AK around london with a spiky two edge club!

  124. goonster says:

according to reports making the rounds right now on twitter we are close to signing suarez. hope its not just another BS.

  125. goonster says:

that zelalem fellow is something else……..in three years he ll be there amongst the best in the world!

  126. tsgh says:

    Night lady rico…

kt, I do not want to seem like I am bashing JW because I think he has god given talent… but tactically he is very naive for a left footed midfielder. if I was Aw I would play jack on the wings for half a season first. i think Jack in CM leaves us too open through the middle because he is always looking at the ball. unlike Mao8 or AR16 who seem to look around quite alot and keep the shape.

I remember watching a program once several years ago with Kilinsman and Hassler and they were talking about the importance of a footballers starting position.

One of them referred to the similarities between a 100m athlete and a CM. They stressed how an athlete starts a race can make him win or lose.

What they said was it was good to pass and move as a midfielder or striker but a good player moves into position taking into consideration how the receiving player is going to receive a pass. what they said was if your team mate is facing you and he receives a pass from you but you move into the wrong space you put the whole team under pressure if the ball is lost.

I never understood that until I starter to see the current Barca team do the same. The barca team never/scarcely turn with the ball… they would rather pass the ball backwards until a team mate can receive a pass on a half turn or in space before they commit forward.

  127. goonster says:

ok now that’s weird…..whats with the pants Adam? i prefer your other avatar mon fre. the pants creeps me out. brrrrr

  128. tsgh says:

Goonie I think your crush Agag had something to do with the pants… lol

Did you hear Ak borrowed WATH’s 1920’s brogues recently? lol

WATH says it is for Ak. It is difficult to tell who is telling the truth.

  129. Adam says:

Hi Stan. I have often wondered where you had got to. The red trousers were put there by Rico. I wanted to put a giant pair of Dutch lips as my Avatar. Could you send me a pic of yours stuck up against a car window with glue made from the boiled down remnants of Durham and Robson please?
Mrs Adam sends her regards and hopes that you and the Mrs are well.

  130. C Hills says:

Ts 8:22, you played football before? That was one of the great difference between cesc and our other MFs.

  131. ktr7 says:

I agree 100% ts.ramsey learnt alot while playing on the wing after failing to impress as an AM.

Jack’s talent in terms of technical ability is undeniable.however tactically he has a lot to learn in the CM role.he seems too attack oriented for that role since he likes motoring forward at every opportunity.

However asking him to restrict his runs will curb his game.thats why AW is really trying to fit him in the role of AM where he can’t really hurt our structure.to make him effective there he has to exert more control over his dribbles as i’ve already clearly explained.

he also needs to make more off the ball runs even if they are just decoys.he.and.santi seem to be strongly attracted towards the ball which inhibits our avenues for attack.if we can sort the jack/santi axis we’ll greatly improve in attack even without signing anyone since both of them can create chances by either dribbling or passing.

As it stands Ramsey should be the 1st choice CM.

  132. tsgh says:

Yes… I played a bit of football at junior level and even had trials with Leyton orient, Crystal Palace and Charlton as a 13 y.o.

unfortunately, I was left footed and not the tallest so even though I preferred to play as a no.6 or no.10 I was always put as a no.3 i.e left fb or lw… typical British football mentality.

Coming from an immigrant family my dad thought it will be safer to stick to education as it was less of a gamble than trying to play Dutch football in London in the late to early 90’s.lol

  133. allezkev says:

Ah Stanley, where the devil have you been?

Adam, yeah I agree up to a point on the additions you want, but Suarez would guarantee us 25/30 EPL goals per season, and that could be the difference between 4th and1st/2nd imho…
Other additions would be welcome mate.
But Suarez would be ‘Intent’ with a capital I…

Ginge, I did Borehamwood last summer. It’s a bloody long way.
Better you do the Leyton Orient game…

  134. C Hills says:

Your dad was right. I played until 17 so, midfield and attacking movements naturally come to me. But I did benefit from having to watch the modern footballers. Also left footed.

  135. allezkev says:

Not sure Ginge, I would think so… They usually are pay at the turnstile…

Cheers Adam, I will wear them at the next away game I go too…

Do you think that Lee would like a pair?
    Blue perhaps?? 😛

  136. tsgh says:

I don’t regret it really Ch…less than 2% make it at the top level so, and I enjoy my profession bar the work place politics … 😉

I had my ankle broken playing in Hackney and I still get a bit of pain after over 20 years…

  137. tsgh says:

hmm, barca are reportedly going for an unknown Argentine instead… i bet johan the honorary Barca Chairman voted against his nemesis Guus taking over… I am surprised Aw was not approached. 😉

  138. Adam says:

    Kev. To match his minces.
Off to watch some rubbish on the telly.
Evenin’ all, especially Stan who has vanished again.

  139. tsgh says:

I may have to visit your buddy David Icke’s site to find out what the numerological significance are…

  140. allezkev says:

Adam, that’s it, what a magnificent impression he would make at the next HHCC assembly… 😀
    See ya lata mate…

  141. C Hills says:

    Night, first man.

I also once had to make that choice, only then it was not much of a choice, Ts. Cameron and Mandela? You’ve started again. Madiba is dear to me though.

  142. emma says:

Bernard to arsenal is gathering pace from so many reliable brazilian sources tonight despite wenger giggling denial earlier today. Interesting

  143. Micko says:

“Irish bum mate”…… wath, what you say we beat that young dutch whipper snapper to one inch of his life !!!
Kev, Luis Suarez, a cheating, thieving, lying, diving uruguayan Scouser, I’m sure given time I could learn to love him.
By the way, I’d love us to re-sign Cesc just to see the look on tsgh’s face…….mind the flies.

  144. Scott from Oz says:

Just read that Suarez is very, very close to joining us.
Have a listen to all you Ramsey bandwagon hoppers.
It truly warms the heart of one dumb Aussie 🙂 🙂 🙂

  145. Micko says:

Scott, un-like half of our mob Ramsey has never been afraid of having a pot at goal from outside the box, it’s a trait that seems to have been drummed out of our team lately, he’s gonna have a big say on our team in the next couple of seasons, ok he’s welsh but they were the hands he was dealt, live and let live.
    Catch ya tomorrow.

  146. Scott from Oz says:

    I agree Micko.
People have always commented on his wayward shots, but you are right, at least he pulls the trigger.
If he gets that part of his game right, he will be a superstar.
    Later guys.

  147. tsgh says:

    Morning all,

Micko, you taking pot shorts at me again?lol
    Goonie came asking of you…

Scott, get of my Ramsey wagon…lol

    This is for you.

    Hi CH

  148. Scott from Oz says:
