Finally, DM talks get going? Transfer fee holding up Cech deal…

Morning all.

The ‘will he, won’t he’ saga goes on…..

Many of us think the signing of Petr Cech will happen over the next few days, some of us still believe the dwarf will stand in the way.

Sky Sports write:

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is closing in on a move to Premier League rivals Arsenal, according to Sky sources.

Sky sources report Cech, 33, has agreed personal terms in principle on a switch to the Emirates Stadium but we understand the two clubs are still not close to agreeing a fee and negotiations will continue this week.

The transfer fee is unknown but it will be a cash only deal, with Chelsea’s request to receive a home-grown player as part of the proposed transfer no longer being considered.

The fee for Cech is yet to be agreed and that’s the only thing holding up the deal according to further reports this morning but depending on which newspaper one reads, it’s somewhere between £8 and £14 million.

Mourinho and Chelsea are in a very similar situation as we were just a few years ago when RvP had one year left on his contract just as Cech does right now. RvP clearly wanted to go and join Utd and considering his age and injury record, Arsenal did well to get the kind of money they did for him.

When he left us, there was a lot of talk about one of their players coming our way, Smalling, Jones and one or two others were all cited but either Fergie refused to let any of them go, or Arsene Wenger didn’t want them remains unknown so instead the deal was cash only. Arsenal had little choice, either sell him or let him walk for free the following year or sell him for a pittance in the January before.

And that’s just where Chelsea sit now. They can demand a player all they like but if Arsenal won’t let one go, they are stuffed. Yes they could make Cech stay and see out his final year just as we could have done with RvP, but what good would that do? Like I said yesterday, you are left with an unhappy player, a player who will almost certainly, end up where he wants to go just a few months later.

In my opinion, if Petr Cech really does want to join us and only us, he will but whether that’s this summer, or next remains to be seen but I can’t see Roman being happy or prepared to lose up to £14 million just because Jose is sulking. After all, there’s a reason why he’s a very rich man…..

In other news, not that there is much, Joel Campbell is up for sale for just £5 million according to The Mail. Benfica, Real Sociedad and Fenerbahce are all keen on signing him. What a bizarre deal that was wasn’t it, not quite on the levels of Park but not far off.

Arsenal have reportedly made contact with Giannelli Imbula’s father as they look to complete a £15.7 million transfer. The Gunners have contacted the defensive midfielder’s dad in an attempt to convince the star to join them, according to Le10sport.

The Sun reporter Charlie Wyett, who has broken a number of Arsenal exclusives apparently, told Talksport that it’s Schneiderlin is moving to the Gunners.

I think Morgan Schneiderlin will be joining Arsenal.

He would be a good signing along with Petr Cech.

Finally, Jackson Martinez is still calling for Arsene Wenger to sign him…

Have a good Monday guys..

    Good Morning Lovelies and Hunkies.

Imbula’s stats are inferior to MS and Kondogbia. Why should we settle for him?

  2. Hell Raising Devil says:

A couple of days ago I read an article on his stats and comparing them to MS they are inferior and this is in an inferior league with less intensity.

  3. potter says:

    Schneiderlin 31 million euro
    Kondogbia 28 million euro
    Imbula 19 million euro
Could have a lot to do with it.

  4. Joe says:

    Good post Rico morning all.
It’s my birthday to day off to visit a castle in Kilkenny that I am almost as old as and a 3 hundred year old brewery that make Smithwicks. 🙂

  5. Hell Raising Devil says:

Potter has a Gd valid point. But their valuation can also be due to the contract they have.

I have seen him only once and IMO why spend 18mill on Imbula when Gnabry can do the same or even better job? MS would be an upgrade. But not imbula.

  6. tsgh says:

    Good morning Rico and all…

Rico, is it not funny that we were talking about AW liking footie CDM yesterday? Imbula is one silky CM. He is basically a taller version of JW with African heritage and an EU passport.

I can see Lee taking a shine to him over dribbling near our back 4.

Rico, can you stomach another DM post from me 3 conservative summers in a role?

  7. tsgh says:

I mentioned on here last year that Chelsea were after him around when they were looking to bring Matic back.

I think he is better than.

OM need cash and so Imbula is a very good alternative.
He is cheaper than Kondogbia who can’t play DM on his own. As we can’t deal with Aulas for gonalons who will be the better alternative even ahead of Morgan Schneiderlein imho.

Not sure he is a proper CDM though…

  8. tsgh says:

    Dev- Hope you don’t mind me saying that you are underrating Imbula because of his profile…;

N’koulou, Imbula, Ayew and OM’s Goalie use to carry the OM squad imho…

Personally, from what I have heard Geoffrey has a party boy attitude reason AW did not buy him before he moved to Seville

  9. Steven Kelly says:

I’ve not heard of Imbula and i’m pretty much up to speed with most of the leagues around europe etc (football italia and la liga drilled into me from an early age it’s now a habbit) Vidal would be the option i would go for he’s an elite player as we no longer need up and coming especially for CM with Ramsey and Jack and Le Couq all of a decent age and the youth already coming through. Jackson is he the answer? not sure he’s better then Giroud….. if we were to take a gamble on a striker over the age for 27/28 i’d of went for Higuain or Falaco (needs a chance playing week in and week out again) the Chelsea move won;t work out either as Costa will be the main man… i’d allow Debuchy to go to PSG (maybe for a slight profit) Bellerin first choice and Jeninkson pushing him for starting place… i’d look for Ricardo Rodigiuz from Wolfsberg allow Nacho to move on due to his age…

Sell – Pod,Campbell (sadly), Sanogo, Ospina, Nacho, Flamini, Mikel (i don;t see how he will get in the team now without limiting chances for Jack and Arron)

    Morning All…

    Good post Rico…

Until I see Cech unveiled…enough said.

Wenger is used to signing the unexpected…he might bring in just anything for that DM spot.

  11. Steven Kelly says:

Yea Rico I support Monreal but its taken some time for him to get where he needs to be and now 30 final year of his cotract i’d invest in somone else as Gibbs still isn’t the answer and with the push from the FA and FIFA on the homegrown situation i’d look to get ahead of the game… especially with Cech almost a done deal

  12. rico says:

Ts, Imbula reminds me a bit of the way Diaby played against Liverpool in that vid…

Thanks Tai, same here, until it’s official eh.. But I think it will be…

  13. rico says:

To be fair Steven, this is the first time he’s had a long run in the side and he’s been darn good, I hope he gets a new deal and stays put for a while yet…

  14. goonster says:

Fabulous post rico. Read it twice. Only God knows how you do it maam. Keep up the good work.

  15. allezkev says:

Where’s that antipodean got to, I wanna take a pot shot at him with this bottle of beer…

    Afternoon All

    Afternoon Rico…

Great post Boss, I suppose I better go and read it… 😆

  16. goonster says:

Imbula ll be a massive signing. I do rate him. He’s no gonalons but isn’t far off like dev ll have you believe. Stats shmats dev he ll do a good job for us. Sign him up arsene.

  17. goonster says:

Am fabulous maam. Can’t complain. God has been good. I see cnut Terry has finally let the cat out of the bag 😀 cech ll save us 12 to 15 points he says. I bet you those chavs are shitting themselves right about now 😀 good.

  18. goonster says:

How I ll love for us to meet at the semi final of the cl play a boring nil nil draw home and away then knock them out on penalties
    Cech saving 3 😀 sweet 😀

  19. Tai says:

I’m never a pessimistic… but if Cech becomes ours this very summer then age is suddenly catching on on Mouriho.

Little Terry said, every keen follower knows Cech consistently saved Chelsea between 15 and 20 points every season for eight seasons… and he is still very capable of doing that for Arsenal…

  20. rico says:

But Roman is reported to be the guy sanctioning the deal Tai and Mourinho wouldn’t want to get in a battle with him…

  21. goonster says:

Dev no no deal I can’t close. Am the only blonde adonis 😀 ask adam. I ve got mad skills 😀

  22. goonster says:

Tai I told you yesterday brother it’s a done deal. The short prick can’t do nothing about it. Relax go get a beer. We ve got one over the portuguees cnut 😀 wenger you sly dog you. Paying him back for fiberglass dig huh 😀 you re a LEGEND arsene. A LEGEND.

  23. Tai says:

In matters transfer, it’s always easy to believe what one wants to hear. No signing will get us nearer the title than Cech would… and I’d take just him this summer if it ever came to that…

But I’m always sceptical when things don’t follow to pattern. Mourinho has never sold to a rival… forget Mata to Man U… Man U were no rivals then… and even at all, that mean bastard wouldn’t ever ’empower’ Wenger.

We only read reports Abramovich is sanctioning the move…I wish I heard it directly from the Russian. I only hope this is not a gimmick by Mou to re-focus Arsenal’s summer. It’s not beyond him…

As per rejoicing…I now know better after Higuain, Khedira etc.

  24. goonster says:

Reports are making the rounds that shitty have agreed a fee for sterling 😀 and so it begins. Loser descent into obscurity 😀 rico ll love this.

  25. Tai says:

Goonster…it’s like I’ll visit the pubs tonight…don’t mind my earlier skepticism…it’s been sounding too good to be true!

  26. rico says:

    Lee, Alexis?

    Afternoon all…

Come on Afc.com, make it official…

I’m chuffed to punch about Cech, I really am. It’s been a long time since we had a ‘proper’ keeper between the sticks!

  27. goonster says:

Rico it’s on the hush hush now. Just like I told you about cech. Sterling is going to happen. Shitty has agreed a deal to sign him. Watch this space.

  28. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Kondogbia signs for Inter
Jackson Martinez almost in A. Madrid
    Campbell Benfica?
    Nani (M.United-sporting on loan) Fenerbache
    Falcao – Chelsea
    De Gea (M.United) R. Madrid
    and more…

  29. rico says:

Sterling to City wouldn’t surprise meat all, in fact without trying to sound like a know it all, I wrote that in one if my posts… Lol

    They need homegrown players….

  30. goonster says:

Rico cech is a gooner 😀 like bush said back in 2003. Ladies and gentlemen we gat him 😀

  31. bondex says:

Happy days friends… done and dusted early too.. PETR CECH is a gooner. @ goonster . I”ll offer maureen some medication to make the bricks come out easy.lol

  32. goonster says:

Hey bondex where have you been my man?? It’s been a while. Been looking all over for you 😀 how are you doing?

  33. Joe says:

Evening all, to all ale or non-ale drinkers had a great day drinking Smithwicks you must try it.
Also visiting some buildings nearly as old as me.

  34. Tai says:

He’ll sure shit bricks…it’s entirely his fault. His rash impatient decision of bringing Courtois home last season just strengthened Arsenal…and like Fabregas did, Cech chose Arsenal to prove to Mourinho his mistake. I can’t wait for next season.

  35. goonster says:

You said it tai and trust me he’s going to have a stormer against them come next season. I rub my hands in anticipation. Cech is a gooner 😀 ceeeeeeeeeeeeeech Yeeeeeeaaaaaah

  36. potter says:

The pale ale is highly quaffable on a hot day . Very similar to Wolfs Golden Jackal which comes highly recommended.

  37. Joe says:

I hadn’t drunk ale in years I had forgotten how good it was I will keep an eye out for Wolfs Golden Jackal is it a local area pale ale or can it begotten country wide.

  38. potter says:

It’s a Norfolk Beer , great from the cask but they also do bottles which lightly cooled is a refreshing little tipple. You would probably have to go to a proper off licence but a case for a party would not go amiss.

  39. andrewh1313 says:

Evening house. Seems we got a genuine pro. And unbelievably Chelsea fans calling him a snake and traitor. He just wanted to carrying on playing for his team while at the top of his form. But was replaced with not much chance of playing regularly. He didn’t want to uproot from city. Traitor?

  40. Joe says:

I think I will enjoy this whole new world of drink thanks Potter, i’av seen the range of ales in supervalue MG I will start buying some to try them out.

  41. scottfromoz says:

    Morning all.
It’s not like me to say this, but I’m not remotely excited over the rumours yet.
I want absolute conformation, as I don’t trust the scum that own and manage Chelksi.

  42. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Evening Lovelies and Hunkies.

Seems that Cech is 99.999999999999% ours.

I just found this……the days when Gervinho and Santos terrorised the Chavs left flank……

…..and Cech was the chavs keeper

  43. scottfromoz says:

Andrew, of course I’m excited at the possibility, but nothing seemed surer than Higuain coming, and Jose wasn’t involved so I’m just wary.
I do not trust that little prick as far as I could throw him.

  44. Tai says:

Tried to avoid pre-mature ejac…but too late now. I’ll continue celebrating until confirmed or hear it’s off… waiter!!!!

  45. allezkev says:

Gazides will get it done, calm down everyone.

These deals are always difficult, and no doubt Arsenal are trying to reduce the asking fee whilst Chelsea are trying to screw us for as much as they can get…

It’ll all be sorted tomorrow, classic Arsenal transfer business…

    Night All

  46. rogerbij says:

All the tabloid papers are calling Cech done but whats the source? I havent read anything on anywhere more reputable like skysport, bbc, guardian etc… are they just reposting each other?

  47. bondex says:

Evening all, hello goonie mate I’ve been around . I know you are evil but this is really one of the very few times where being evil is good…

  48. allezkev says:

A big up to the Mirrors Dave Kidd, who is fast working his way to the pinnacle of Fleet Street football reporters, and making a total arse of himself on the way.
If you want to read the written word, perfectly formulated to use as bog roll, then check out Dave ‘Fulham fan’ Kidd…

    Cnut that he is…

  49. Lee says:

DB10 is the answer to my earlier question….call yourselves Gooners?!?! 🙂
What about Aubameyang of Dortmund, is he any good? He’s younger than Martinez who can’t get a start in front of Falcao for his country (that should set alarm bells off!!)
Come on Arsene we are so fucking close, finish the jigsaw this window, please!

  50. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning Lovlies and Hunkies.

    Morning Kev.

Just a thought…….I hope AW is not a dumbo and sanctions the sale of Ospina to another club without having secured Cech first. I mean…..what if Jose is waiting for AFC to sell the better of our two keepers and then pulls the plug so that we will be left with eggs on our faces???

Lee……..for me AW should better spend money on Aubemayang than JM. I like him and he is a speedster. Imagine…….Theo, Aubemayang, Sanchez. Essence of speed. It will have Jose and Pellegrini shitting before they sit in the dugout.

  51. rico says:

    Morning Kev, Lee and all…

Falcao probably get’s picked because he’s Falcao, rather than being any good these days… Bit like Sanogo. 😉

  52. Hell Raising Devil says:

This is what we will be getting if we get PEA from Dortmund…..

Aubameyang is described as a versatile attacker capable of playing anywhere in front of a three man attack formation as well as an attacking midfielder. He is also a good header of the ball due to his height and his jumping ability as expressed in his header against Bayern Munich in the DFL-Supercup. He is an accurate finisher within the box and a decent one outside the box.

He is capable of scoring direct free kicks which he has shown several times in his career. He possesses an excellent track record of penalties which was best expressed in his hat-trick of penalties against Niger Republic in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Aubameyang has good ball control and dribbling ability enabling him to beat players one on one. He also boasts accurate short and direct passes as well as through balls. He possesses good vision witnessed by the number of assists he makes. He is unarguably one of the fastest players in the modern game having clocked a time of 3.70 seconds over 30 meters which is marginally faster than the time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt recorded in the first 30 meters of his record breaking 100 meter run. He has recorded the fastest on pitch sprint alongside Arjen Robben of an excess of 35 km/hr.

In addition to his blistering speed, he also possesses excellent acceleration being able to reach his top speed in few strides. This has caused problems for officials tracking his runs and has led to some of his goals being wrongly discredited as offside. This also makes him a major threat on counter-attacks. Teammate Neven Subotic said that “he is one of those players with the rare natural ability of immense speed. He is very difficult to mark. I would not like to defend against him and I don’t know anyone who would”. Bloomberg described him as “speed merchant supreme”.

  53. tsgh says:

Bondex- I am surprised you don’t rate PEA. To me he is Gervinho with end products. Far better than Theo and Ox.

AW tracked him for a long time. AW knows PEA’s dad too…; apparently, the delay in Gervinho moving to Roma stopped Arsene from signing him. Also, PEA chose to represent Gabon instead of France and so with the issue with the AFCON, AW opted to get rid of his African representing players.

PEA is a top notch player. When PEA was signed Klopp gushed during the press conference that he was so happy to capture PEA as he thought he would be joining Arsene.

PEA has not played well because he played better playing off Lewandowski; unlike Immobile who was also too mobile and struggled in his first season at BVB.

  54. tsgh says:

I am surprised the Groskreutz rumours/interest has died…
If Tuchel is able to hold the bulk of his squad I wonder how well he will do for BVB next season
