Morning all.
And it isn’t a good one……
At 2-0 down we had a chance if Arsene Wenger had the balls to make changes, he didn’t, just like he so often doesn’t.
Ask yourself this. If you were a football manager and you were sat watching how everything was going wrong in front of your eyes, what would you do?
Sit back and hope it gets better?
Or do something about it to ensure it could?
It was clear very early in the game that we had no width, no pace or drive in our side to offer a real threat to an Everton defence which in all fairness, have been darn good this season.
There was no way through the middle so we needed width in abundance but not for the first time, we didn’t have it. The one player who can give us width and who has the ability to drive at defences was sat firmly on the bench.
We were totally outplayed, over-run and all that the Everton players had in their hearts and minds utterly outweighed the level of desire our boys seemed to have.
We were a shambles from start to finish and to be honest, we got what we absolutely deserved.
Yesterday for me was the final straw.
We had players on the bench who could have come on and changed things but they were ignored until the scoreline sat at 3-0 and by then it was far too late.
But not only could those players changed things, they could have given us a far better chance from the moment Martin Atkinson blew his whistle but they were overlooked.
Ok, I get that Arsene Wenger selected who he did, he clearly had his reasons but my gripe is why when it’s not working, does he leave it all so late to change things?
Watching all this unfold before my eyes is heartbreaking, we are better than what is being dished up each week and it’s not fair on the fans, especially those yesterday who travelled so far and yet remained in full voice. And that’s just one game.
The past has been great, well certainly 1996 until 2006.
We all understand that financial restraints had been in place for a long time since we moved to The Emirates and I doubt there isn’t a fan who will look back on that time and admire Arsene Wenger for achieving what he did during those tough times.
But, forget all of that, we are now a cash rich club who can afford to buy big and maybe this summer we will.
But focussing on the players we have, surely we could and should be setting up in a very different way than we do, we should be able to put in a good performance and we should as a team, look like we have been pre-coached for the job ahead and go all out to execute those plans….
We don’t!
The team looks lost and all out of idea’s and I think that’s comes from above.
Arsene looks lost in today’s world of football, a world he once reigned.
Those days are long gone…..
Fergie walked away after somehow securing his last PL trophy. He knew his days were done and the football his side played was possibly the worst during his reign and it had been for a couple of seasons.
Does Arsene now feel the same?
But I personally don’t solely hold Arsene Wenger to blame, on the pitch yes but off of it, no. We have an owner who has no backbone, an owner who has been happy to sit back and watch all this unfold before his eyes, an owner who clearly believes that getting Champions League football each season is success on its own.
He and ‘his’ board are totally ineffective and for the club to move on and up to the level it deserves, they all need to go.
I really want us to win the FA Cup, but by doing so and getting CL football, on paper this season will be seen as a vast improvement of those gone by but the reality is, on the pitch, it isn’t.
If finishing outside of Europe and losing out on an FA Cup final means that finally Alisher Usmanov will make his move, then I’m all for it because Usmanov is a fan and his sits and watches us each week at The Emirates in his big posh luxury box.
I doubt he’s happy watching what we all have to but unlike Kroenke, I strongly suspect he’d do something to change it….
That’s it for another day…..
The Russian makes Stan look poor.
If he loves the club so much, why doesn’t he make an offer Stan can not refuse?
We are in real trouble as far as ownership is concerned, because i believe they all want one thing, profits, and having an investor as an owner is detrimental to on field performances.
Bloody money!
Morning all.
morning mate , good post Rico. It’s time for the fans to make themselves heard and have a real go at the current system. Enough is enough, if we don’t then we have no real right to complain do we?
Morning Scott.
Maybe AU knows that all the time we get CL football, Kroenke won’t budge. If the poop really hits the fan and I suspect it will if we lose next weekend, then Kroenke may just think ‘why do I bother’… and then sell up..
Just a thought, nothing to back up that of course…
Morning Oz, thanks.
How do we who don’t go to the matches make ourselves heard though?
Just have to hope that blogs like this one get read….
good post rico
Wenger has destroyed everything he has built.
My only real hope this season is the FA cup.
I’m guessing we wont be playing CL football next season.. And therefor won’t be able to attrr new plaeyrs.
I know many don’t warm to the followers of LG but Pedro has written a great post today..
http://le-grove.co.uk/2014/04/07/two-choices-for-arsene-leave-now-or-cede-power-and-collaborate/
Thanks Adk.
I too want the FA Cup and badly but as a friend of mine told me, if we win it, Kroenke will believe this season has been a success, as will Wenger and everything will stay the same….
Of course, it could anyway….
Win it and leave with a modicum of dignity?!?!
Good post Rico,
More questions than answers more pointing of fingers yet nothing is expected to change….!
The owner board and manger have their heads up their arses….!
I was going to say Pedro’s post is very very good… no reason to read the comments but the post is top notch.
Nice post Rico. Couldn’t agree more with if I was a manager and my team is getting destroyed would I just sit there, Or try and do something about it. I don’t if you have seen it, but there’s s pic of lukaku embracing Martinez after he scored in the back ground you see the Arsenal bench, half of them are smiling at the lukaku/Martinez moment! Shocking considering we had just gone 2-0 down. Not an angry or disappointed face in sight… Disgusted looking at it tbh.
And take Kroenke and the stiffs on the board with him Lee.
Agree Wath
Thanks Wath..
I like the idea of Bould getting the job, surely he’d be able to get someone like Bergkamp in as his assistant, or even Henry who has always said he wants to return…
Thanks Kel, I saw that picture too, disgraceful if it’s real and not photo-shopped or whatever it’s called…
Morning all.
Yes its Wenger’s fault and yes the owner as well the players are not guilt free either.
Giroud is not good enough, Chzezesney also, Monreal no idea, BFG no pace what so ever, I won’t stop just there you have to question all the players that Played, all the coaches all the board all the hangers on and why stop there the ball boys looked slow as well, bad refereeing and a bad linesman. A fixed FA and even the pie and chips at half time were cold.
Lets not stop there the fans sung but they wern’t in key, many got there late but the sun did come out, sadly we cannot blame God for the weather.
Usmanov is our saviour he will spend his billions on Arsenal football club, he must be a massive fan because he sits in his massive box. He will rescue us from ourselves he will spend like the oilers at other clubs, he will bribe the FA to appoint only Arsenal friendly referee’s on all our games, and he will prise the best players from every corner of the globe, he will stop all visa’s so we can buy the best and put them straight in our team, and he will find a manager new coaches and even change the pie and chips .
He wont be bothered about profits as he is an out and out Gooner nothing is to much trouble for him as a winning Arsenal team is all he dreams of.
He realises that Wenger has been sitting on fortunes and he knows that Wenger wont be happy till were relegated, he knows exactly who to appoint in charge and he is even thinking of doing all the owning managing and maybe also playing himself, as we all know he is the saviour.
Simple as that lets, do it straight away as Usmanov is gagging at the bit . Yes Arsenal ready for change its been far to long but lets sort the pie and chips first. Simples.
Rico, the idea of having top people around you is hardly new is it….. Common sense to me…!
If you bring in the right people chances are things improve..!
The my way or the highway attitude is so outdated but that sort of sums everything up…!
I actually feel sorry for the players Sp, they all look lost too but then when you have a manager who is lost, what can you expect.
Kroenke is gutless, Wenger is a lost and broken man and all that filters down onto the pitch…
If AW walked away today and Bould took charge. I bet we’d see a very different performance from the players for the remainder of the season.
Especially if he sought help from someone like Martin Keown for a couple of months until everything could get sorted in the summer…
It isn’t Wath, it’s common sense and Fergie did that for years and that’s what helped him win things.
Difference is, he would listen to others whereas Wenger thinks he knows everything but clearly doesn’t.
The point about him sitting on his backside for 65 mins was spot on too, why wasn’t he on his feet belting out instructions…
Beggars belief…
I totally agree with you, the boys don’t have any more fight left in them and its all Wenger’s fault, based on his poor selection choices. Its clear a Flamini-Arteta partnership is weak, Ox should have started with either Flam or Arteta… I still respect Wenger and I believe he truly loves Arsenal but its clear his mentallity can’t compete in todays game, at same time its very frustrating to see that Arsenal’s board is not committed to Glory but money. Any ambitious club would sack Wenger, that leads to the next question is arsenal still an ambitious club or should we as fans settle for mid table performances from now on or the fourth position. If possible?? I completely believed in our boys this season…
A very grim day to be a Gooner.
Our guys, like Arsene, looked very, very tired.
Least SP remember to sort out the pie n chips as well seeing as thats mega important….! Although I’ll have pie n mash pleeeeze… Ta.
Scott, have a pint and a bit of pie n mash mate all will seem far better…. least we can still win the double………!!
Not sure what year that’ll be but we can….
Oscar – Kroenke hasn’t a scooby doo has he!!
It sure is Scott, i’m not all bitter about losing yesterday as tbh, I expected it as Everton are a very good side but the way we lost really hurts. No fight at all…..
The players look like they don’t know what they are doing, they don’t even look like they know what they should be doing and that stems from the manager…
I will take the cup this year mate 🙂
Aaron is back.
Watch us soar again.
I am just going to ask this…..i do not want it to seem like i am deflecting criticism from Wenger though.
When things were going well, Bould was copping praise for our brilliant defence.
Now it has gone to pot, i have not read a single comment criticising him.
Why is that??
Pie and mash, isn’t it smoked salmon sandwiches these days??
He’s not the main man though Scott, and for me this is not about just one game, it’s about the way we have played for a long time.
Tbh, it was only our defence who have saved us on so many occasions.
I know it is going to be very hard for fans who are used to the weekend game to sit it out but the ONLY way we fans can save the club is to boycott games till we see signs of change. I will never let myself be humiliated again by Wenger that’s for sure… How can we feel so upset about losing while some players laugh after conceding goals?? Its clear there’s a huge disconnect from our dreams and those of the players and management, when ticket numbers start falling I guess they’ll know its time to act cause something has got to give.
Rico, Wenger got no credit for the defence…it was all Bould.
Now, he suddenly has nothing to do with it??
Too convenient for me.
In saying that, i always thought our defence was better because we started pressuring further up the pitch, and less to do with he actual back 4, but still, if it was good enough then, why not now?
Do you have an ST Oscar?
AIDS – Arsenal Is Dying Slowly
Morning Rico and all.
We should all be grateful to Wenger for the rest of our lives. He woz unlucky yesterday. We should be careful what we wish for. Look at David Moyes at Man U. It’s the injuries isn’t it? Oh and the referees. Those bastards. Did you see how they destroyed us yesterday? Just as we were about to put Everton the sword. It’s disgraceful. I tell ya, when Wenger goes you’ll all realise what a great manager he was. But his hands have been tied haven’t they? By the board of course. He’s operated on a shoestring really. Only £143 million a year in wages, plus the £7.5 mill for himself of course. I tell ya, I played over ‘Ackney Marshes so I know football. You lot, you don’t know you’re born. You want Usmanov. Well, I’ll tell ya what. He ain’t as good as the Yank. Them Russkies never are. Where was Usmanov at Dunkirk or D Day? I’ll tell you where. He was in Russia wiv Stalin and Abramovich. You lot don’t know football like I do cos I was a winger see so I know that Wenger knows what he is doing. You reckon Giroud is slow, well, I’ll tell ya, you’ll miss him when he’s gone. We’re a small club operating on a shoestring so I dunno how you think we can afford all these top strikers. I used to play football. I was a winger see. I was the King Of ‘Ackney Marshes so I know that £142 million don’t get you much these days. All you blokes on the witch hunt, I’ll tell ya, you’ll drive him out and then you’ll be sorry cos they’ll get David Moyes in see and he’ll manage both Arsenal and Manu Utd. Where does it say that every club can only have one manager. Then you’ll be happy won’tcha? Worse still, the new manager will probably spend all the money and well have a team of eleven of ‘them’. You know wot I’m talking about. You mark my words and see if I ain’t right.
But is it just our defending letting the side down Scott?
Are the attacking players being given too much freedom instead of being told, especially for fixtures like yesterdays, to pull back and help out?
Bould won’t have a say in that and we all know AW believes that the best way to defend is to attack and he thinks that will always work.
After going 1-0 down, he should have been out of his seat barking instructions to certain players to do their job and if he isn’t prepared to do that, then let Bould do it but again, we all know that wouldn’t be allowed….
Morning Adam, very unlike you not to check you spelling. lol
Spelling shmelling. I tell ya Rico, Wenger’s doin all e can on a shoestring.
Scott. We can’t really say who’s responsible for what and what but what we all know is that Wenger is the man at the top, he can disagree with Bould or fire him if he’s losing it but 1 thing is certain the buck stops at the manager’s table. For many years he’s reluctance to do what Is necessary to compete is the main reason for this revolt against him, look at Chelsea’s players, at least 5 of their current 1st team players were scouted by arsenal first including Mata at man u, dortmund has never been a big spending side but they have a manager with shrewd signing skills. Wenger ought to be very ashamed that he has managed to win only 1 game against the top six clubs. We must not deflect the blame. Wenger is fully responsible for the horrendous defeats we received this season.
Potter we gave up our season tickets this year 2013/14 after so many years,my family has had around 4 per season ever since I can remember.
I get the impression from you that I don’t know what the feeling is at the ground, well fans are fickle by nature, wenger knows that,
but players have a job to do,and if wenger comes out with a statement, that he will decide when he will or will not sign a new contract..Alarm bells start ringing.
Players need motorvating, not told I might be off.
Anyway, after we signed Ozil we reapplied for our season tickets for season 2014/15 and were told ..no problem we given 2 silvers to get us through the this season.
Got a bit of housework to do, back in a bit….
Pls bear with me, I’m Using a blackberry and I always wonder why posts come out funny
Rico I think I made that error to get the ST this season, it won’t happen again that’s for sure… At least not at this rate. Something has got to give, season after season I make the same resolution but somehow I flop at keeping away from the emirates. Not next Season though Arsenal has to show some ambition during the break for me to consider it.
Guys, i am not blaming Bould.
I am asking why he got all the credit when things were good, yet none of the criticism now it’s crap.
I am not asking who is right and who is wrong, but i am questioning the mentality of fans.
Adam, you forgot to add “rant over” lol
Rico, I understand how you feel, My God i want us to be so much better as well, But what surprises me about you is the way you want change and yet you would be happy with Bouldy and Keown. All supporters look back to the glory years what supporter doesn’t but they are past and they are not change Bergie Pat and Tony topped off with Thiery doesnt sit with me when you look for change. Kroenke’s Name is brought up every day, and by all accounts he is not the man to be the owner. Funny when you look at it there is only a couple of other club owners i could name but they seem bullet proof. Kroenke as we all know is not a football man he is in business to earn money. Wenger will manage Arsenal until he is sacked or quits, Not your choice as you have made quite clear and of course not just you.
I read the comments and understand where many fans get their ideas from they would have played this player instead of another quite acceptable but in all honesty whatever the players we choise they are just not good enough against many of the top teams.
When change comes and it will as things cannot continue like it is with the masses calling for change, the only thing the board can do is to accept that its time for our present manager to go or make him spend what you think is just sitting there.
The sensible thing to do, is make the change and and let this huge sum be spent . What they do about choosing the right man is a question i cannot answer. But i know things could be better but they could also be a lot worse.
Thinking positive, a new man with new idea’s with millions at his disposal is a mouth watering vision top players new tactics and new staff could be just the answer that the masses want new training and diet could be a good thing with the injuries that we have every year.
Moyes has been installed at Utd and it has tacken him a season to assess who he has, Granted their fortune has dipped slightly but now look a lot better than they did. Moyes will also have fortunes available for next season and he should know by now who stays and who goes and of course who comes in, it looks likely that Moyes may just be finding his feet, but it also could go drastically wrong.
When the majority want change then its a shared gamble maybe now is the time for such change, but being 4th and cup semi final and we feel thats bad enough for change, i worry should we fall lower and not get to semis how will you feel then.
One thing is for sure, we have some interesting times ahead.
SP don’t you think your covering over the cracks… you seem to be asking a question yet giving an answer always that it could always be worse….?
The money is there fact, you keep going on as if it’s a myth… merely click on Arsenaldotcom and check out the past financial results… declared to the world by the club those millions are there it’s fact.
People fear the unknown people fear change yet did they fear change when the club installed Wenger who was a nobody..?
When we talk of others being worse off they do not sit with circa 150million quid in the bank, they dont pay double the cost of what most teams pay to watch their team. There are always excuses why we should stick rather than twist but isn’t that just pulling the wool over your eyes instead of making a decision to try and make things better?
No one on here wants us to spend billions that we don’t have they have never asked for that all people want it spend what we have and we don’t. We look an outdated operation and that’s not moaning thats being realistic.
If the board and owner think Wenger is the man for the job and no one out there is better than we really are in the shit if that’s what they see and think…!
The problem with many fans is apathy….. Always bring up a reason why we can’t change instead of seeing the good it could bring… yes there are no guarantees but that’s life….. if you don’t take the risk then we just carry on stagnating while others around us go forward.
Wenger has been great but thats a “has been” great… he no longer is.
I said earlier surround yourself with top people and chances to succeed are made higher… who was Guardiola when he took over at Barca…. Does Bould need to be a top top name if he is sensible enough to motivate the players and bring in top people around him to take care of other areas that the team needs..?
Interesting Scott or nightmarish……….? lol
I’d say volatile mate…!
Top top post Lady rico… not sure I agree with every single point or have answers but an interesting read nonetheless…
Top comment Sp1 at 10:23 am… you have your mojo back…
Scott, another genius of a comment about Steve Bould…
Oscar I am with you there…
I said it 2 years I do not rate Steve Bould as a coach…
When I watched him sit 10 yards from Santos and later made Vermalean look likea clueless chicken at LB against S04 and BM in the CL and he did nothing to adjust their positioning I knew he was clueless too… imho of course
I have also referred to his teams approach at u-18… but all just my opinion…
The funny thing is when folks on other sites claim Steve should be made the manager when he has said on TV on more than 2 occasions that he hates the pressure on the bench…
Is Banfield still around or has he resigned? The midfield has gone shite he needs to step up…
But hey Lord Aaron is back he came in and made even you could see the dynamism in the midfield straight away…
Morning all Rico and HHers btw…
Fresh ideas are needed, no doubt.
A fresh approach from Stan would be nice, as well.
Wath, could go either way lol.
Ginge, how are you mate?
Just to clarify……i am not apportioning blame or credit to Arsene or Steve, but the fans take on it is strange to say the least.
Thank Christ for a bit of comedy.
Ts, the fact is Bould has indeed said he doesn’t enjoy the pressure of coaching… does that mean he can’t be a decent manager though…? he may sit there but what have his instructions been from his boss…? we don’t know… we don’t know if as I said Bould or who ever for that matter surrounds themselves with proper top notch people then success is made a lot easier to achieve…!
Right now is not the time for a change.
6 weeks down the track……maybe, but not now.
All I am trying to say is someone fresh, in this case Bould, could get a lot more from the players we currently have fit.
Then in the summer sort the future out…
Great comment earlier Wath….
Adam, may as well laugh else we would all cry.
Scott please share your thoughts, I’m sure you agree that we need a drastic change of our approach to the game, from tactics to training as well as signings, but if Wenger and the board keep doing the same fruitless things, how then do you expect we fans to react?
Oscar, why are you asking me that?
I have stated on numerous occasions of late that my wish is for an FA Cup won, and Wenger to walk away afterwards.
I would hate to see the man sacked, but i also can’t stand seeing him in his current state.
I can not answer how other fans should react, just as i’d have nobody tell me how i should.
HH is hardly a centre of revolutionary zeal these days is it? Even after the absolute and total capitulation of the team since Christmas I am astonished that so many are still putting the deckchairs out on the Titanic. I don’t know if anybody has noticed, but it’s broken. And whisper it quietly so as not to disturb the nutters, it has been for some time.
Afternoon Campers…
Afternoon Wath, depressing isn’t it…
I’ve been to a few FACup Semi-Finals, going back to Villa Park in 1972.
But I cannot ever remember feeling as lacking in excitement, leading up to this weekends SF, as I currently do…
Good point Wath… maybe that comment was made in light of him being micro managed by AW even when he was suspended…
I know fans say Aw takes all the training etc but from what tyhe young lads who have the privilege of training with the seniors have said the otehr guys take the training and AW overlooks it…
How he overlooks the training is the issue to me…
What I do say though is that Steve Bould warms the players up before games and gets a good 20 minutes with the players when he can pump them up mentally if Aw is stale as we mostly assume…
Also, I can’t stand the idea of a pot-bellied middle aged man Boro ‘warming up’ or should I say strolling around the pitch before training when we must have a proper fitness coach to get the players muscles up to the right condition before actually tarining commences…
I am not bad mate Scott… have you finally are-adjusted to the time zones…
Afternoon Rico, a very sad but true post…
Afternoon Adam, how ya doing me old china?
Kev, the Wembley game is as much a possible final nail as it is anything else.
Adam, i haven’t read too many positive posts of late…not even from me.
I see we have signed up Ashley young’s son…
He’s 9 years old!!!
Ginge, still struggling, but getting there.
Afternoon Kev, written in anger it was too….
Afternoon to you too Ts, thanks re the post…
Can Ashley Youngs son play Sat… bet he don’t cheat as much as his Dad……….
Scott, no way will Wenger get the sack mate…. I would not want him sacked to be honest that lack the respect he has earned but i also think this uncertainty with the contract cannot be helping the players. If he is leaving he needs to say so and say it soon. the club needs to know… make that the players need to know…. They need to know where they stand far to much in limbo in my opinion.
Ts we all know Arsen likes things nice and quiet and no rantings… Bouldy may not be allowed to “pump” them up…. again we don’t know mate so merely a guess.
Afternoon Kev, glad you managed to join us after just getting out your pit 😀
Hi Kev. I am a lot better than I was thank you.
Our club feeds on the total, abject apathy of our supporters like leeches draining the blood. And we bend over for them and say “Oh yes, stick it there Stan. Oh and thank you by the way”.
Fair enough Scott I think you share the thoughts of most Fans then, we win the cup-Wenger walks sounds nice… Though I doubt that’ll happen mate. Wenger will sit tight and try to prove to the world that he’s philosphy can still work and Stan will back him up… But if fans REALLY act up, especially the paying/investing fans then maybe we just might force the change we want, Arsenal really belongs to the fans not Stan. Its time we made an impression. Being the prime subject of taunts from the footballing world must stop. This is the time Fans should really start acting “strange”… After all we have players already acting strange; laughing after conceding goals… Smh
Wath, fair enough.
Seems there is a constant cloud of uncertainty over the club in some form.
Adam, speak for yourself about bending over………. He must right fancy you in those red strides 😀
He’ll learn Wath….
How he overlooks the training appears to be a kind of micromanagement. He gives the various parties their orders and then makes sure that they carry them out. I don’t know not having been invited to London Colney but the occasional whisper that gets out intimates that if the coaches deviate from his plan they are taken to task for it.
Come the revolution
Oscar, that is where i am different, i guess.
I can’t pretend to know what ST holders are going through, nor where they are coming from.
I had a ball over there last week, but t was like a honeymoon period, and not a full marriage, if that makes sense.
I did get a taste, however, and can empathise a lot more with ypu locals.
How very un-English of me.
Red strides or bending over Adam? lol
Or saying thank you 🙂
Having the absolute temerity to even suggest that Wenger might consider leaving when he is clearly doing such a great job. I really should be careful what I wish for. 🙂
I am off guys.
Have as good a day as is possible.
Tough ask, i know.
🙂 Adam
Night Scott…
Cheers Scott……….
Adam you rascal you…………
“Carry on up The Arsenal”
‘Ooo Errrrr’
Bungdit Din
Sir Sidney Ruff-Diamond
Sorry got mislayed. Many believe that Kroenke is a know nothing bloke, Maybe you are right but consider this.
He buys enough shares to be the man in charge . He has many buisnesse’s and he is not often at our games he has appointed certain people in to run the football side of things and also has appointed others to sort out sponsors Building developers and any other ways money flows into the club.
Many would say he is useless or clueless but what you have to take into account is that Arsenal is still running at a profit, in fact since he came Arsenal are taking in more money more sponsorship and more on gate reciepts. In fact he has made Arsenal football clubs profits higher than before. Many supporters will tell you that 150 million is in the pot just sitting there making interest not being used, and Kroenke is useless and hasn’t a clue.
Kroenke is far from the mug many like to blame, He runs a business that makes money he can afford to fend off offers from wherever and he knows that Arsenal will still make him money. Now that sounds to me to be a man far from being stupid.
Many people would say that its best to speculate to accumulate good advice for a business man, but how would spending 150 million get you the return on that outlay, its al right speculating but when your profit is around 40 million and there are no guarantee’s why take the risk.
Now i understand why supporters wouldn’t want to hear that, but while a manage is running the football side of things and is earning the club 50 million a year why would you want to change him for an out lay of 7.5 mill a year that is a business man’s dream. is that a clueless owner or what
Up the Kyber 🙂
They don’t make them like that any more….
Arsenal isn’t a mechanism to make money SP… it’s a football team….. He knows fuck all about football does the yank and yes he ain’t stupid he bought into a cash cow… Where does that make him astute and all knowing when it comes to football… don’t you want an owner who wants a successful team not a profitable team… what benefits to us is the club being profitable…? Zero benefit apart from the fact those funds are there based on our input from our pockets…!
Can’t actually see how Stan being an investor is any good for Arsenal Football Club in any way shape or form yet you seem to say you want us to bee winners then back an owner who makes a profit…!
Frankly fuck him I don’t want an investor who just wants profit, the club isn’t there to make money it’s there to try and win things…! The bank balance should read zero… spend what you make…!
And there was me thinking football was about winning matches, competitions and trophies….
I have got it wrong for so many years!!
Oh the fucking irony….
I’ve been trying to break it to you gently Rico. Football isn’t about winning matches at all. It’s about profit?
Well, I’ve just seen the “highlights” of our game…..for fuck sake we were fucking woeful! Wenger wants to go back to basics….I really give up!
Sure feels like it these days Adam!
Just the highlights Lee, be grateful… 😉
That was brave of you brother. Still, as the third goal went in I thought about Kroenke’s profits and smiled inside.
Not brave brudder….one of the plethora of overhead 50″ plasmas had it on in the office! Sweet………… or b)!?!?
Lee. That would be too much for me I am afraid. 🙂
Wath,
From a supporters point of view, i cannot fault what you say. Thats not the point i was making. But investers are not supporters they are in it for the money.
When you have an owner like ours, its obvious that funds are not being released, at least with me. An owner invester see’s a business deal as just that, out lay, and profit. As you have said many times he is not a football man. Infact he is American somebody who really has not a football background. He saw the opportunity to make a business in England for some purpose that he only knows.
I don’t believe he ever took up the challenge to make Arsenal the best club around, maybe just the most wealthiest. We have to realise that old Arsenal money people have died and left their shares to family members who many probably never held their parents views on Arsenals future, they went for the money and a good living and sold those shares for as much as they could. While some others shopped round and sold to other bidders, the superman David Dein who’s name has been brought up several times sold his fairly quick but to another investor, and everybody wants him back here.
Arsenal had been protected for many years but the greed of their offspring has put Arsenal in the market place. We have to live with their decisions and not moan about people that have brought an investment.
Arsene Wenger who runs the football side yes you can moan about his buys and his sales but he makes his boss money while keeping us on the top side of the league. Don’t like what he does i can understand but Stan seems to like it so change will only come from Wenger
I’m over it mate….really am over it!
Glad to hear it brother. I find it lingering somewhat today but am greatly reassured that win or lose, Kroenke is making a profit. 🙂
Wish I had a house big enough to fit a 50″ Plasma. Maybe Kroenke could lend me a penny or two..
Sorry, how silly of me, he doesn’t part with money for Arsenal fans…
shaqiri, fernando, martinez, garay could make arsenal great again
And David Blaine…
Not heard of a few of those snazzer…
Paul Daniels, or is he a bit old now…
Maybe it’s Jack Daniels I need, not Paul and then I could sit back and believe all is rosy…
I beg your pardon,
I never promised you a rose garden.
Along with the sunshine,
There’s gotta be a little rain sometimes.
When you take, you gotta give, so live and let live,
Or let go.
I beg your pardon,
I never promised you a rose garden.
I could promise you things like big diamond rings,
But you don’t find roses growin’ on stalks of clover.
So you better think it over.
Well, if sweet-talkin’ you could make it come true,
I would give you the world right now on a silver platter,
But what would it matter?
So smile for a while and let’s be jolly:
Love shouldn’t be so melancholy.
Come along and share the good times while we can.
I beg your pardon,
I never promised you a rose garden.
Along with the sunshine,
There’s gotta be a little rain sometimes.
I beg your pardon,
I never promised you a rose garden.
I could sing you a tune or promise you the moon,
But if that’s what it takes to hold you,
I’d just as soon let you go, but there’s one thing I want you to know.
You better look before you leap, still waters run deep,
And there won’t always be someone there to pull you out,
And you know what I’m talkin’ about.
So smile for a while and let’s be jolly:
Love shouldn’t be so melancholy.
Come along and share the good times while we can.
I beg your pardon,
I never promised you a rose garden.
Along with the sunshine,
There’s gotta be a little rain sometimes.
Afternoon rico, very good post. Just think you are being unfair by saying Wenger did nothing when is was clear at 0-2 we needed changes.
Did you not see his coat was playing up again, it was very windy, the zip was undone, and he had all this on his mind.
Later the sun came out, coat was not a problem anymore, and the obvious substitutions were made. He cant do everything at once!.
Thing is SP you say nothing wrong with the owner…? you been saying that for a while.. He’s an investor and we the cash cow so we need him gone…. IF he had any brains he would realise if he invested more and we won things his investment would be worth even more so maybe he not as clever as you think he is..!.
He doesn’t manage his asset he lets the new commercial deals look good to bolster his share price his input has been zero and if we not careful his asset stripping will start very soon. Profits should be seen on the pitch not in the bank account and pretty soon that may come back to bite his arse.
Some investors see the return on selling up at a later date, if the yank was proactive you make your “brand” the best it can possibly be get extra revenue from commercial deals from a successful brand and win trophies if possible and then you can see how much your brand is then worth. IF we fail to finish fourth lets see if he objects to the loss of the CL money and emirates cutting sponsor money due to clauses of CL qualification. Lets see if he then moans when his shares lose 10% in value….! Many many ways to invest and see a return but if you have no feelings what so ever for what your investing in then it will only ever be about numbers.
Lyn Anderson Lee, one of my old favs 🙂
Afternoon Ah, thank you and of course, you have a point re the bleedin coat…
Actually, he should have looked to do something at 1-0, not 2-0…
By the way, it’s been peeing down for months, years….
I knew that was one of your favs Rico…..Adam told me!
Infamy infamy they’ve all got it in for me.
The peasants are revolting…
Many people do things for many different reasons Wath, you talk from the opinion of a lifetimes support and i understand completely where your coming from.
Kroenke is another Animal, why buy a football club in a different country from where you live in something you don’t completely understand. Now that is a question i asked myself form the moment he came.
A billionaire that seems to have no reasons at all. And then he puts his son on the board then everything started to click into place. I feel that Kroenke never ever brought Arsenal for himself but a project for his son. Being a billionaire and spending lots of money is normal for him but to put his son in a strange country and letting him learn the business seems to be a normal thing a billionaire would do.
Out of his hair, and far enough away to not conflict with his other businesses, and also educating his son into what the family business is all about and always knowing that if anything should go wrong he can always be there to help.
I expect Josh to move up fairly quickly until Arsenal is solely in his hands. I may be wrong but if i had a son who showed interest and i had billions with a wife who is worth more i could see that as a good idea and a good test. If all goes tits up it only an English football club.
Lee what a thing to do , I absolutely hate that song and I had hoped it had disappeared up the hole in it’s middle. I used to work in a place where the music was on a loop and that was played incessantly for about 18 months until the machine mysteriously broke. ( If I knew how to add “roll eyes ” I would ). Now youv’e put it back in my head and I can’t stop singing it.
Rotten sod !
Afternoon all,
Worth remembering if it weren’t for Wenger we’d probably be playing Aldershot in the football conference this weekend and not a semi final at Wembley, take that you numbskulls !
Less said about yesterday the better, honesty think Wigan will fancy their chances this weekend, Rosler will be up for it, a strong tactician, if we ever needed to show our premiership quality its Saturday.
Sorry Potter….it’s Rico’s fault really!! Oh and Adam…
Has Sherwood been sacked???
Probably not, well not yet, but he’ll sink be joining Chris Hughton down the Dole Office.
You tell ’em Mick.
Short memories and all that bollocks….
Anyway, Diaby will soon be back to save the day, with his clarenet and limp.
Just in time for the World Cup
You couldn’t make some of this shit up could you?
We were in dire need of new players in Jan and we sign a Scandinavian raspberry…..beggar’s belief!
3 wise monkeys……..Hughton………Sherwood………and……….Wenger…………June’s dole queue down Islington way?
Did he Lee, the little toad 😉
Ozil due back on the 19th April.
Wilshere due back on the 28th.
Diaby, no return date…
Miyaichi, no return date…
Walcott, no return date…
The rest are due back this weekend…
3.21 Potter, you are cruel, I love it and have been singing away since Lee posted it… lol
Afternoon Micko, I can see only one result on Saturday….
I blame Adam for everything especially as he’s not here. lol
Kev, at least they should all be back for the FA Cup final. 😆
Adam has resurfaced Rico. What have I done now?
It was your fault….take it like a man!
Lee:)
Will I be seeing you soon brudder!
You have caused all sorts of problems Adam 😉
Rico. 🙂
As usual. Was it something I wrote?
Trouble maker…
Et tu Brute?
You can take the man out of El Vino’s…
But you can’t take El Vino’s out the man… 😉
No Adam, something you told Lee… 😉
About you and ‘Rose Garden?’ 🙂
Yes. You have been spilling my secrets…. lol
Interesting in the Mirror, AW tops the fans vote
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/arsenals-poor-form-arsene-wenger-3384593
Just listening to Adrian Durham and Darren Gough on TalkRubbish…
Durham going on about how Everton loaned Lukaku, and questioning what he would do for us….
What a tosser…
Mourinho is gonna loan us Lukaku isn’t he?!!!
Just as he loaned us Demba Ba…
A Ginger Fat Pillock with the brains of a peanut…
I think you have summed Durham up well Kev 😉
Thank you Rico, I, of course agree… 😉
🙂 Kev.
There is one positive to come out of our recent run though Rico.
And that is, nobody can blame Jack Wilshere…
As a Little Englander, I find it increasingly frustrating, having to defend such a talented English footballer. I mean, we are allowed, surely, to have the odd one or two Englishmen playing in the English Premier League…
He slows down our play i hear people claim…
Well not at Everton he didn’t…
That’s like accusing Xavi and Inesta of slowing down Barca…
And I’m in no doubt that Barca would gladly take Jack off of our hands.
And why do you think that he keeps on getting injured?
Is it because he runs with the ball and attracts challenges?
As if running with the ball is a crime!
Maybe it’s because he puts a fcuking tackle in because he fcuking cares???
As Joey Barton commented last week, in a very interesting interview, Jack plays on the edge, in other words, he doesn’t go missing, he doesn’t hide…
For alm his perceived faults, a proper Arsenal man…
And that’s why, Rico, I/we like Jenkinson…
Technically he lacks, just as Ray Parlour lacked, but wish we had a 24 year old Ray Larlour in the squad….
As Ginge often says, Wenger has his favourites, Carl isn’t one of them.
Given a run of games, I honestly feel that he would improve up to the required level.
He’d never be as polished as a Sagna, but he’d also never go missing…
Bit of wisdom from Barton, Kev?! Spoken in English I hope 😉
Kev, that is so so spooky. I was thinking the same earlier today about Jack….
We have been worse since he’s been out and i for one love him!!
Yep, I am with you there again re Carl Jenkinson, I love all that he has in his heart and once he starts playing regularly, we’ll see how good he is..
Ray Parlour?? Spot bloody on!!
Rodriguez is out for a long time for Saints and England. Great shame for him, he’s a super player, one I’d love to see at Arsenal….
Just read your 6.04 again and again Kev. 100% I agree…
And well said Joey too…..!!
Off to get some cheese on toast 😉 Back in a bit
Looks like Sherwood is a gonner in the summer, still, he is a Gooner 😉
Peaches Geldof has died.
25 years old…
RIP Peaches…..
Andrew it was a very interesting interview by Clive Woodward…
Barton, in the past, with the right advice, could have done a job for us mate.
Terrible news Rico
Lata
I just saw that Rico…..
Awful Kev, absolutely awful. Two young children left with no Mum…. 🙁
Shocking isn’t it Lee. And so so sad…
FFS I’ve got shoes older than that!
http://1nildown2oneup.net/have-arsenal-already-employed-wengers-successor-conspiracy-theory/?
Such shocking news about Peaches. Really sad and tragic. RIP.
Kev, well said, he puts his body on the line and often pays the price for it unlike some of our light-weights lately.
Mickey Rooney also passed away today, aged 93, married 8 times !!!
Lee, Sp suggested a while ago that in Jonker, the club have already employed AW’s successor…
Yes, Sp really did say that.
8 times Reckon Mickey Rooney put his body on the line too.
It really is Adam.
Micko, 68 years longer than Peaches, and nearly as many wives as Adam…
If Micky had been a cricketer, I’d say he had a bloody good innings…
Or his wives did potter?
Hutchence, then Paula, now Peaches. Not good.
That’s a good innings…..
How many wives are you on now Adam?
Ah, clearly a family who are suffering….
After Peaches tweet yesterday, maybe she missed her Mum too much to carry on….
My firm sent me on a ‘safe talk’ suicide 5 day course last month, very interesting but if truth be told if anyone decides to take their own life you won’t be able to stop them.
Sorry, don’t mean to depress anyone, could be worse, could be tottenham supporters, we should count our blessings.
0-1 to Sunderland!
Proof if you ever needed it !
Five now my brudder as you well know. You introduced me to number five in that Opium den last year.
Go Sunderland 🙂
I thought it was six Adam? Carol….
🙂 Micko.
Rico. 🙂
Adam is after Micky Rooney’s proud record..
My money’s on Adam… 😀
1-1 now, darn it!
So is mine Kev, he’s already more than half way there…. lol
Anyway, it’s sop time for me and no, I don’t mean a bar of….
Night all, have a good one….
Chat tomorrow no doubt, if the good Lord spares us all…..
Oh, and I know dandan wasn’t a part of HH, but may he, a true Gooner, rest in peace and may his family who have been left behind, find strength to get through such a sad time…..
http://arsenalarsenal.wordpress.com/2014/04/07/deja-vu-and-a-tribute-to-dandan/
Having been in Adam’s company many times Rico, I have observed his understated stamina and the strength he conceals beneath his stylish leather jacket (and trousers)…
I think that my mate have several more wives up his sleeve to look forward to.
Or should that be up his trouser leg?!!! 😛
Morning all.
Have we signed a striker yet?
Sad to hear about dandan, Rico….
Yes Kev, really sad. I read some of his posts and they were good….
I think they are in his socks Kev 😉
Scott, no, not yet… lol
Gone now folks….
It’s Adam’s tackle that swings it…..
Night Rico and all…..
Come on Sunderland!!!
A legend in his own underpants !
Nite rico.
7th place here we come!
A tackle to compare to Le Quiff’s, I believe… 😉
Night Rico/Lee/Adam
Night Mick
Morning Scott, pissing down rain all day…
I thoroughly enjoyed it… 🙂
Signed anyone you say???
You been on the grog Digger?
I read the article from Le Grove and all comments .
My vision is as follows and I have it written here : Our midfield is not ready for more physical or teams , stronger , where our technical merit does not protrude games . We failed in all the big games , because the physical difference , speed , agility and strength are different . Having two players over 30 years , with an overload of games , to ” insure ” against young people 20-25 years old, is a strategic mistake ; put one of them together with a player with more willingness to attack is another. In other games , in which our highest technical merit stands , this difference is diluted . With the accumulation of games , more punishment , injury and fatigue, these differences gradually fade .
It is for these reasons that I have always said that the key player to buy Cabaye was a kind . The center forward also is very much needed , but without having a midfield that allows at least ensure technical , physical, balance and proper balance between defense and attack, do not take the best advantage of the advanced and higher .
Looks like we’re definately in for the Iranian Messi…
Night All
JM, that’s a good effort.
Night
Kev, no grog mate…that is the problem lol
http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014/04/08/photos-arsenal-youth-smash-vieira-coached-city-but-by-what-score/

Morning Rico and all.
Tim Cook ceo of Apple…….
Morning Adam
Ah, I wish Lee…..
Just nipping out with Fido, back shortly..
Rumours abound that Wenger has been given two weeks to perform it lose his job.
Wtf?
The internet is full of wisdom.
Morning Rico, Lee, Adam, Scott, Cook and Bottle Washer…
It’s chilly here in London, a bit windy but very sunny…
Gonna be raining all day Saturday so it’s gonna be a greasy Wembley pitch…
Morning Kev..
Scott, utter rubbish eh…
New post up now…
