Fazio linked. £1.5 million transfer kitty boost & we don't want the Guard of Honour….

Morning all….

We filed an appeal against Giroud’s sending off which we all know was doomed before it got to the FA, so why did the club even bother?

However, they didn’t add another game onto the already imposed three match ban so that’s a good reason to cheer eh..

We appealed on a wing and a prayer for one reason only, and that is because we have ONE striker in the squad, and even he isn’t that clinical. Wenger knew he had to, on a good day he may have won, but reality is, he was onto a lost cause.

Who steps in in Giroud’s absence in the next three fixtures remains to be seen.

Maybe Gervinho, Podolski, Walcott or another will step up and prove their worth. We’ll see…….

In the meantime, having beaten Fulham, a side reduced to ten men very early in the game, Arsene Wenger is trying to reassure us that we are strong…….

We came through it,. The character in the team is fantastic. When the ball was in the box in the last five minutes we always used to concede a goal and now we don’t. That means that the resilience is there and the team has learnt.

I’ll move on.

Arsenal have pocketed £1.5 million after Man Utd won the league. Apparently there is a clause in RvP’s contract!!

Talking of which, the Guard of Honour for the old boy and his mates is causing a bit a of a stir, some of our players don’t want to line up, clap hands and look like idiots whilst Fergies lot gloat. I don’t blame them either, I couldn’t do that, and it’s not something I think should happen either.

But it does, and it might just give us the edge. If I had to stand there taking part in such a thing, I’d be desperate to get the game started, desperate to play well and desperate to beat Man United. Knock them off their perch!

Of course should that happen, our victory would be passed over as ‘Utd had nothing to play for’, but they do…

So do we, above all else, pride.

It’s been a long time since we beat them, too long…..

Paper Gossip:

Sevilla’s Federico Fazio is linked to us in a few newspapers. Wenger has looked at him before if we are to believe what reads, but we made a miserly offer so it was turned down. Now of course, some of the Spanish clubs are struggling financially and I keen to sell off their higher earners. Fazio is from Argentina, he 6′ 5″ and 26 years old.

That’s it for another day, have a good one..

Don’t want that doughnut keeper either he’s another flappy clown…!

    Oh and good morning 😉

  2. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Morning to the Lady of the House and fellow Gooners in residence.

Adam – Yes he is, but I’d rather not have think about him. Although it was nice to see his team humble the Whores of Barcelona. Well done Bayern Munchen.

  3. W.A.T.H says:

Shame he’s such a good player Adam… many of the good ones are utter tossers…! Seems the 2nd leg is a fourgone conclusion then….

  4. EastSidePaul says:

Victor Valdes would be the typical Arsenal signing, nice cheap option, not a solution to a problem when there are solutions available.

Bayern are a club on the up, someone at our club should really take notice..

I say Wenger cracked the champagne Monday night knowing there was an extra 1.5m in the bank that will never see the light of day..

  5. frednerk says:

    Morning All

    Guard of honour,
    the players don’t want it,
so Wenger it’s down to you,you stand and clap the manc’s,
you made sure the league went to Fergie,
    just like the year before,
buy selling our players to the competition.

For me I will either turn up late or not go.
    It’s my last season,anyway.
    Bad performances I can take,
    Lies and Bull*hit, I cannot.

  6. Adam says:

The strange coincidence is that in a year, after Pep has had his methods implemented by Bayern, they will be playing football like Barcelona. Let the tedium commence.

  7. Adam says:

Fred. Morning mate. Are you turning it in then? I do understand though. I am beginning to realise that the club I pay so handsomely to support probably isn’t there any more and I am living in some dreamy Islingtonian past. Kroenke, Gazidis and Wenger have created a business monster where there used to be a football club. All things must pass as George Harrison said.

  8. Wavy says:

    Morning all my fellow arsenists

If Robben is a git then Ribery is a gobshite! So there!

Valdes, he’s been a spectator for the last 7 years. When called into action he let in 4 goals. Not much of a recmmendation. Scez and Flappy are better!
It would be throwing some of our war chest down the toilet.

  9. rico says:

Oh well, at least they will stop all the others from winning the CL over the next few years Adam. Obviously not us, we won’t be in it….

  10. rico says:

    JLS – gutted 🙁

That’s the dancers who won New Faces isn’t it? Or was it Opportunity Knockers 😉

  11. Adam says:

    Ode to great Jabba.

Come, great Jabba. Come, with your billions. Come great Jabba our club has gone wonky. Oh come great Jabba, buy out that dick Kroenke.

  12. devilgunner says:

Good Morning Lady, Watty and Gentlemen.

I sincerily hope that AW signs Cesar. He will improve our defence immensely and has the winning experience. something which ours does not.

Guard of honour? Yes I will do it. but then I will make sure that our players kick Manure’s ass well and truly in the way Reyes was kicked about. But I doubt AW will do

  13. Canadian Gooner says:

Adam – I’m no Bayern fan either, but it’s like politics – the lesser of two evils. FC Farcelona really get up my nose. Similarly, I’m no Wigan (FC or RFC) fan, but I will chearing them with all my heart this Saturday.

  14. devilgunner says:

ESP……….you are right. They watered it heavily and this made the going tough for them. Straight out of the GG book.

  15. frednerk says:

    Adam,
Were so close to having a good team,
it can’t be just about money,
our main rivales these days are the spuds.

  16. Lee says:

Messi left his flippers in Barcalona…hence the below par performance! I though Martinez was mustard last night….the exact type of player we arfe missing! Still Sunday’s on his way, everything will be fine!

  17. devilgunner says:

    I am fine old friend.

BM’s style is different to the one of Barca. Waterlog it or not they combine power play, tacitcs and techniques in quite an impressive manner.

  18. EastSidePaul says:

    Re: the guard of honor.
I think we should respect it, its not United the fans are pissed at, its Arsenal.
    United are deserved winners.

  19. EastSidePaul says:

Can’t stand the idea of a club deliberately water-logging a pitch, leaving the grass long, or narrowing the pitch..

  20. W.A.T.H says:

Pitch was hardly waterlogged ESP that’s utter bollox if thats being touted as a reason that Barca got destroyed…!

As Dev says power speed quality and class was why they got beaten and Bayern didn’t let them play at all. Well drilled and then tore them a new one when they had the ball. Also Barca defend worse than we do it was quite funny to watch.

  21. Canadian Gooner says:

This could be another very long summer for the club’s supporters. With the Financial Fair Play rules coming into full force for the 2013/14 season, a few of Europe’s ‘big teams’ already warned about their debt and wage levels, and more than a few teams feeling the finacial pinch, if not flirting with outright bankruptcy; this summer’s transfer window may have a very slow beginning. Until, some real money is injected into the system and starts to cascade to other clubs; many teans will be in the position of having to sell before they can buy. Who is going blink/spend first.

Unless Arsene has identified specific player targets and is given adequate funds so as to enter the market early, we’ll again have to wait for the big boys to feed first. If Arsene plays his usual game of brinksmanship, It may well be late in the window, hopefully not deadline day, before we sign anyone of note. I may well unplug my computer for a couple of months, enjoy a peaceful summer and not power it up until late August.

  22. devilgunner says:

I prefer the manual sanding Lee. It makes your hands work the sanding well………especially on hump surfaces. 😉

  23. Canadian Gooner says:

Lee – I hope not, but I fear you may well be right. I’ll watch the market for the first couple of weeks and then decide if I’m to drop off the grid.

  24. devilgunner says:

LG have said that we have enquired about Gonalons.

He is young and good. plus very strong and technical.

  25. devilgunner says:

Cesar, Lowton, Draxler and Gonalons. That would be agood window for us. But we still need a striker imo……..unless we see a total transformation of Podolski, Theo, Gervinho and Giroud.

  26. tsgh says:

    Morning all,

FC munchen were efficient like a german war machine last night. Their football yesterday showed how having a good plan and which is backed up by a footballing board can work wonders….

In 2009 after beaten 4-0 by the barca boys, the Bavarians consulted several high profile men in world football to find a way forward… they got together Muller, Kaizer, Rommaneiger (spelling), Uli Hoenes,Khan and even AW to forge a new and modern team… unable to poach Arsene away from arsenal they settled for Van Gaal. Van Gaal tried to do his best AW impression in 2011 by saying no signings were needed but things did not go well for him and he wasreplaced by his assistant.

Josef Heynckes who last won a trophy 15 years ago is now in a position to win a treble… the question is in the 15 years plying his trade across most leagues in europe bar england did he change his style from tippy tappy to a spped…

will the board learn from this model club to give the fans what they rightly deserve… based on the ticket prices they charge?

  27. Wavy says:

The only chance that we will fullfil all our new player dreams is NO CHANCE. Dream on!
August will come and go with little or no transfer action because “We couldn”t find any player who was better than what we have got, so none would have improved the squad” or words to that effect!
    Have a nice day now!

  28. tsgh says:

They have the 6th highest bill and we have the 10th in europe…

Even liverpool have a higher wage bill than ours…

  29. Ben says:

Ribery, Lahm, Schweinsteiger and Gomez earn 10 Mio €

Rest is well below.. Robben I think gets 6, Neuer as well and so on

  30. Wavy says:

Despite the overwatered pitch, the few world class players Munchen had the 12th men – the crowd. It was like listening to a Nuremberg rally during the devastating reign of Konig Adolph!
My god they made a noise, in unison and loud enough to be heard in Hamburg!
Has anyone heard decibel levels to equal Bayern’s at The Library of nearly dreams? The Emirates Reading Room?
Perhaps if our crowd were so engaged and loud we could turn our ordinary team into something exceptional! Plus the inclusion of a few world class players!

  31. potter says:

Wavy 10.15, Agreed . Just sort out the defensive midfield and the back 4 and we don’t need a keeper.
Robben is a cheat and Rico you say the officials in Spain can turn things around but I reckon if anything changed hands last night it was in the direction of the Germans. The standard of refereeing is appalling, two definitely should have been ruled out and the last one was because the Barca defender’s lost it as decision and cards went against them. Reminded me of Dowd at Newcastle , just got to look forward to him puffing and wheezing all over the pitch on Sunday.

  32. devilgunner says:

Mates………if we clear the dead wood I presume our wage bill will drop significantly.

Another issue…………the tiki-taka style will work only if you have a supreme finisher like TH14, or Messi, or Cavani. Otherwise the style must be changed. We saw Barca how weak their style is without a fit and on song Messi.

Did they improve with Song, Fabregas? No they did not.

Do we need a long way to go to match them? No we do not. the problem lies in the fact that with the present team its the players who have to fit the playing style not the other way round.

22 years of coaching has taught me one thing………always play to the players’ strengths. Do not try to fit them into a shape. Rather fit the team style to their strengths. And it has served me well.

  33. Canadian Gooner says:

Well I’ve business to attend to today. So, good day to all of you. Until tomorrow, keep the faith.

  34. mattyboy86 says:

Caughtoffside is claiming we have signed Jovetic for 24K whether its true or not is another story!

  35. Canadian Gooner says:

DG – That has been my experience too. If you can’t sign the players to fit your preferred style of play you must adapt and find a formation/system that utilizes what you have.

  36. devilgunner says:

Mattyboy even on italian websites they are claiming he is off to Arsenal. And bearing in mind that in January they bought Rossi who plays in the same position as Jovetic than it may be true.

  37. rico says:

    Hello again….

    I’m surprised at this one…..

The clear out is certainly happening…..

According to Dutch media [via @StefanCoerts] Arsenal’s Kyle Ebicilio is expected to sign a four year deal with Dutch side FC Twente before the end of the week.

Ebicilio, who is 19, joined Arsenal from Feyenoord in the summer of 2010. The cousin of Chelsea’s Jeffrey Bruma, is out of contract in the summer.

AD Sportwereld had linked the player with moves to FC Twente, PSV Eindhoven and Anderlecht at the start of April and there were also rumours that Fulham and Swansea could both be interested in the midfielder.

It now seems as if FC Twente have won the race to sign the player who came through the ranks of Feyenoord.

  38. devilgunner says:

I have had good teams and bad ones regarding technical level. However even with the low stream ones I used to get good results even if the play was a tad boring and unpleasant to the eye. The result was that we punched above our level.

At the end of the day if you adapt the system to the players’ level you will end up with all the players improving. Do it the other way round and you will end up seeing the players regressing.

  39. rico says:

    Have a good day Cg….

Matty, Caught Offside are less reliable than HH, and that’s saying something 😉

  40. Wavy says:

The Jovetic thing has all the hallmarks of the Poldolski transfer. I suspect it is true and he is on his way. There was a great deal of chat a month ago but since, everything has gone quiet. Sort of how we do business. Despite what I said about a silent August, I really hope this rumour turns out to be true. It would represent a ‘start’ mind you how many more would arrive would be, well……….?

  41. Wavy says:

Too true, but he like Cazorla is probably a kick in the right direction. It sort of signifies ‘intent’.
    If true of course.

  42. rico says:

For an out and out striker, he doesn’t score many goals either …

We need a best who will bury everything….

  43. tsgh says:

    Hi Ben,

What do you think of stefan Keisling? I rate him but he is unknown here… 20 goals in 30 is not bad …

  44. Micko says:

So the board have the last laugh and pocket 1.5 million and some fans have the nerve to call them clueless.
No excuses not to sign Sunday Mba now, go get him Arsene.
    Afternoon all.

  45. Ben says:

    Hi tsgh,

Kießling is not good enough. Giroud is better then Kießling in my opinion. He is already 29 years old as well and he sometimes lacks concentration or something. He fits perfect for Leverkusen but he is simply not good enough for a bigger club in my opinion.

  46. W.A.T.H says:

Least that extra money from Robins transfer pays for Gazidis year end bonus…!
    Suarez ten games………….. Ouch…!

  47. Lee says:

What a joke of a club we really are….a load of tyre kicking in the next transfer window! We’ll cut corners buy the cheaper option yet financially rape the ST holders….bodes really well, the move from Highbury has been an unmitigated success for the board!!
Hats off to eveyone in charge you’re doing a sterling job…….wankers!!!

  48. rico says:

    🙂 Adam…

But this summer is going to be the summer it all changes Lee, come on now, don’t you believe Ivan the Great Gazidis??

  49. SD London says:

How on earth did everybody look on and alow Manure Utd to run away with the league ?

Yes they beat us but i can’t help remembering teams that had opportunity to beat them and will just take their foot off the gas towards the end of the game and the coach will make crazy substitutions and BAM! Manure will score the winning goal in injury time.

Everton,WestHham,Villa, just to mention bloody few teams without ambition.

    YES I AM STILL BITTER

    GUARD OF HONOUR MY **S

  50. Adam says:

Come – oh Great Jabba. Lift the depression from us all and give us hope. The nights are never-ending living in the shadow of the syrup who sucks the life from the club we love. Come Great Jabba and drive this tyranny from the land.

  51. potter says:

    Everton,WestHham,Villa,

Moyes ( Glasgow } Golf partner of Fergie.
    Allardyce ( golf Partner )
    Mcliesh ( Glasgow )

All members of the M62 mafia.

  52. tsgh says:

Thanks Ben… I know he looks clumsy and he is a late bloomer but i was thinking because he is the 2nd highest scorer in the Bundesliga with 21 goals this season he could at least be an option…

  53. tsgh says:

potter re 4:11 i hear the scottish gang were all initinitiated into Lodge Thorntree 51 and Lodge St. George …. Mccoist, W. smith, Alex?

  54. SD London says:

WestHam is the worst of them and Moyes just looks forward to the customary wine after the game.

I bet Wenger has started drinking wine with Fergie after the game as well.

In my own opinion, Mancini should be sacked, how he could not compete with that team of his is beyond believe and he has the nerve to complain that it was because they could not get RVP.

I am sure the Man shitty owners are not wasters despite been multi billionaires, they must be angry anytime Mancini complains.

    GUARD of HONOUR MY **S

  55. rico says:

Didn’t Everton beat Manure on the opening day of the season?

And Big Sam was livid after being robbed of a victory when RvP was offside for the equaliser…

It’s the likes of Sunderland, Stoke etc who cave in a bit too easily imho….

  56. SD London says:

    Yes he should be sacked,

For God’s sake he has Aguero , Tevez and Dzeko in is team and many more collecting the doe that we don’t know or care about their names.

He should just shut up .

Imagine Wenger with that team , mine oh mine Fergie would have retired 4 seasons ago.

Overrated match fixing, referee bullying, FA controlling and gutless English coaches emotionally bribing man called Fergie.

    GUARD of HONOUR MY **SSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  57. rico says:

Always said Ts, they have great players but no balance as a squad….

Bit like us really, we just don’t have the standard of players they have, well, not in every position…

  58. rico says:

As long as no Noel, deal?? Or no deal….

Boo to you agag, ask again in August, it will still be the same answer 😉

  59. Micko says:

Can Dortmund do a Bayern tonight, unlikely but who knows, quite fancy an all German final at Wembley, all blood and guts.
Catch you tomorrow, over and out.

  60. agirlagunner says:

It was fun watching Barcelona being dismantled. I really hope we strengthen in this trf window. It’s time the club showed ambition.

Hiya, rico. What’s cooking?? hello, Adam. How’s writing? 😉

  61. rico says:

ARSENAL fans are threatening to turn their backs on Manchester United if the champions are given a guard of honour at the Emirates on Sunday.

Supporters are ready to do a ‘Poznan’ and they have also warned former skipper Robin van Persie could get an ‘horrendous’ reception.

Fans’ forums were last night urging a boycott of the tribute by taking a leaf out of Manchester City’s book.
Many are annoyed by boss Arsene Wenger’s recent admission he knew United would win the title when he sold them the Dutch striker last summer.

Pete Wood, from Arsenal blog The Grove, warned: “Van Persie is going to get an horrendous reception.

“Every touch is going to be booed because no one can forgive him for the way he left.

“The club stood by him during his first seven years when he was always injured. Then he has one good season and suddenly he wants to leave.

“It was the way Van Persie manipulated the move and his lack of loyalty which has upset Arsenal supporters.”

The champions have traditionally been clapped on to the pitch the game after clinching the title. United did it for Chelsea in 2005 and for Arsenal back in 1991.

  62. rico says:

Time for me to head off for the day…

You guys/gals have a good evening and catch up tomorrow….

    Night all….

  63. tsgh says:

its funny how the special one tried to play football properly for once and got smashed up…

Proper footballing lesson being thought… You would never think we beat this BVB09 team 2 consecutive seasons…

Some of the Arsenal players should watch and learn… if the best can work hard to win the ball back when the lose it then the rest of footballers can…

Lazy badgers most of them are…

  64. tsgh says:

It seems 4-2-3-1 has passed its sell by date…

The 2 German teams have gone 4-2-4 in attack and 4-5-1 without the ball…. like we use to do with Ljunberg-DB10-TH14-RP07 in 2002 to 2004.

When AW played that against Reading in the CL we came from 4-1 down to win 7-5…

Fullbacks attacking is not working any more…

  65. Micko says:

I know tsgh, just pulling your chain, looks like the special one’s days could be numbered as of 9.30 tonight, what a shame.

  66. tsgh says:

I knew you were up to your old tricks… the special one never built a team… he is good at sucker punching teams like Arsenal because several of our players refuse to defend …

  67. tsgh says:

I can’t believe Lewandowski has now gone beyond our price bracket too..

who can we buy now Benteke or Jamie Mackie… maybe we can beg Rednose to give us Welbeck… 😉

  68. kel says:

oh right didnt know that tsgh…. 18-20m would probably be the range then… anything over 15m and wenger has palpitations fs

  69. Micko says:

Kel, there’s a vacancy coming up in Madrid, they just have advertised it yet.
Lewandowski looks the dogs bollocks tsgh, devil’s been bigging him up for ever now, were we ever in for him, who knows.
Reality is we’re more than likely agreeing terms for Remy at qpr but what do I know.
    Catch you later guys.

  70. rico says:

    Morning all.

New post will go up around 9.35. See you a little later…

    Fitness class this morning 🙁
