Falcao chance gone. Defender bid in & Chambers call up…..

Morning all.

Congratulations to Calum Chambers for being called up to the new look England side, I’m sure he’s chuffed to bits. I’m not. Just 3/4 steady appearances so far this season and Roy Hodgson wants to put more pressure on the young lads body. Why did Arsene Wenger just tell him he needs one more season to mature…

So the Champions League draw for the group stage saw us paired up with Borussia Dortmund yet again! Added to them is the ghastly Galatasaray and Belgium’s Anderlecht. Not the best three teams to be drawn against, but it could have been a lot worse and the biggest threat is Dortmund but I’m not sure they are as strong as they were when we last met. Mind you, are we?

Travelling to Turkey is never ideal, the fans there are quite hostile to say the least but the short trip to Belgium will be a much more gentle affair. Not suggesting for one minute that they are an easy opponent, not at all, I just believe the whole atmosphere will be more calm…. Well, I hope…

Many fans would love to see us win this big competition but I see it as a hindrance to our domestic campaign and always have done. If Wenger wants to win the CL, then go and build a squad deep and strong enough to do so. The same can be said for the Premier League, the one I’d really love us to win.

However, we all know that the further we go in the CL, the more money the club will bring into the club and Arsene likes money, even more so than Albert Arkwright! That bloke was tight too!!

Anyway, four days left now!

Gossip:

There a lot of talk about Sokratis Papastathopoulos, another big Greek defender. We are supposed to have held talks with his agent about a move and we are reported to have made a £10.9 million bid for the versatile Greek international yesterday. Funny enough, that amount is short of Dortmund’s asking price but we are still in there trying to reach an agreement.

The same is supposed to be happening with Adrien Rabiot, PSG and us according to TalkSport.

Not long left now though….

The under 21’s continued their good form last night with a 4-2 victory over West Brom. Diaby managed 45 minutes, Campbell and Coquelin had a run out too but the star of the show was Chuba Akpom with a hat-trick.

Surely it won’t be too long before we see him on the subs bench, especially if Arsene Wenger doesn’t sign up a striker….

On that positive note, I’ll sign off..

Have a great day all, keep those fingers and toes crossed we soon get some good news…

    Nice post Rico 🙂

Congratz to Chambers even if it’s a little premature.

Well done on managing to spell that blokes name lol

Hummels: To be drawn in a group with Arsenal is sort of business as usual for us. We expect to advance from this group.

Lets make him eat his words. Would love a cheeky bday win over Dortmund! lol

  2. BrainwashedKev says:

    Morning All

    Morning Rico.

Hey Fred or should I say Mr Angry…

At least Mick doesn’t look like he’s got his willy out anymore with these new gravatars…

  3. bondex says:

Morning all. nice post rico… I fear we might have to make do with akpom then. Won’t be a bad idea if he continues to score goals but can he be consistent enough at the highest level ?

  4. southyorkshiregunner says:

£20M includes loan fee and wages …. but £20M is just a fee that has been bandied around ….. He is a player that could make those extra points to win the PL … providing Wenger doesn’t stick him out on the wing….

It sounds like Rabiot is a done deal

  5. BrainwashedKev says:

    Rabiot sounds an interesting player…

Apparently he’s a quality player but has a bit of an attitude problem (Nicolas Anelka anyone), hench PSG letting him go for a reasonable fee…

Wenger loves a challenge, especially a French challenge, so Rabiot ticks all the boxes…

  6. Lee says:

First Estella didn’t touch the sides…..
Isn’t Falcao 48yrs old or something like that? I’d prefer Cavani,I appreciate negotiations with player’s agents isn’t that easy but get a bloody move on Arsenal!!

  7. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Hiya Kev
it said in the first post thar Rabiot is a bit of a “Timothy Lumsden” character …… If you’re old enough to remember “Sorry” starring Ronnie Corbett

  8. southyorkshiregunner says:

Cavani or Falcao is a positive move on what we have, Lee…. You surely can’t be boozing now?

  9. BrainwashedKev says:

You know what SYG, signing Falcao would be a real statement…

But I refuse to get too excited because this is typical Arsenal transfer fannying around and it pisses me off….

All the same, the ‘little boy inside’ is shouting ‘get your fcuking chequebook out Ivan and make it happen’….

  10. rico says:

Kev, I think I read that Psg wanted to keep him but the player wanted out to increase his playing chances.

If he has an attitude but does really well, at least Wenger will make some money on him when he leaves.. 😉

Hi Lee, I bet the second didn’t either, you both having a fun time?

  11. rico says:

The more Wenger says he doesn’t need a striker, the more chance there is of us getting one imo..

CDM and CB badly needed too…

  12. gonerjoe says:

It’s not that great the flight didn’t help about to go have a breakfast and take my pills have a great day.
Will drop back later play nice

  13. southyorkshiregunner says:

It appears that Eboue may not be the only ex_arsenal player to play against us in the Champs League … The odds have been slashed on Song signing for Galatasaray, however press reports state he seems to be holding out for Liverpool.

  14. bondex says:

I dont really know much about Rabiot but we all know who Falcao is (Chelsea ‘s destroyer in chief ) we get him, and we’ll impose great fear on our opponents home and abroad. Rabiot ticks all the boxes for AW.

  15. Scott From Oz says:

Hi BT….all is well here….the working week is done, and I’m bloody happy about that.
Falcao…..I think we’d be crazy to take him on loan.
Either get him, or don’t….but get someone!

  16. BT62 Gooner says:

Good to hear Scott, yeah someone would be nice, but Falcao would be one, to drive you crazy for the right reasons..

  17. southyorkshiregunner says:

One of the top 5 strikers on the planet becomes available and we have the money?
    It’s a no brainer.
He can hold up play like Giroud and he can finish like Suarez.
He’s faster than Giroud and more powerful than Suarez.
He’d hit 30 goals this season.

The business of football is not about hoarding cash – it is about winning trophies

  18. rico says:

‘The business of football is not about hoarding cash – it is about winning trophies’….

Spot on! Or certainly having a squad which looks like it has a real chance…

  19. rico says:

Scott, if it’s a loan with an option to buy, that’ll be good. Then everyone gets to see if the deal is right for all parties…

  20. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hiya Scott. Once the player is here and gets accustomed to the surroundings, he would probably want to stay. The Arsenal is The Arsenal. He would have cult status the same as Bergkamp had.
Wenger keeping tight lipped is a good sign.

We obviously have a done deal for the petulant garlic eating mummy’s boy …..

  21. southyorkshiregunner says:

    murcia.
Never been there but I’ve heard it’s nice.

    I’ve seen the Roma links.

Rabiot is a French kid. Wenger likes French kids….

mmm. A bit creepy when it’s said like that.

  22. BrainwashedKev says:

The only reason SYG, that Man City would go for Falcao, especially when you consider their strikers, is to stop Arsenal…

Hopefully Falcao enjoyed his visit to the Emirates and wants to play there regularly…

  23. Scott From Oz says:

Hahaha, SYG, I hope you’re right.
    Sanchez was a statement.
Falcao would be an up yours to every “expert” out there.
    I love it.

  24. southyorkshiregunner says:

The lift a signing like that would give everyone would be like when Rioch bought Bergkamp and Platt.

  25. rico says:

Don’t think City would be able to sign Falcao, FFP might be a stumbling bock. Haven’t they already been told they can’t spend to much this summer?

  26. BT62 Gooner says:

Surely it’s a simple equation for success: spend to be successful, the more successful, the greater the financial rewards and repeat…everyone a winner, shinny things for the fans and bulging bank acc. for the club…result

  27. kyawmgmgtun says:

    Hello rico and all
    We fight group stage.
    i think,Wenger can play 4.6.0.
    if he dosen’t sing striker.
    how do u think,rico?
    Come on, fighting.

  28. Valentino says:

In my own personal opinion, I think as someone who truly love this club, it will be a totally unwise move to loan falcao for 20million. What if he gets injured? What if he couldn’t settle easily and score d amount of goals we are expecting? Then 20m for the loan is a waste. I think buying him is the best option. But the question is what effect will his “over 200/week wages” have on our finance?? Are we ready to pump such money out on wages??

  29. BT62 Gooner says:

Yip,Syg and wasn’t it great, walk before you run comes to mind. we’ve walked for years, now we’ve have the opportunity to run.

  30. bondex says:

Guys if asked to take 2 out of the 3 positions we need and the available players are : Falcao/remy , Khedira/ Carvalho , rabiot / ocratis/hummels.. which position would you leave out?

  31. bondex says:

This talk about Falcao is making me sad already 🙁 every part of me is wishing we can have him. My head says AW wont do it.

  32. Joaquim Moreira says:

Campbell to Benfica? Portuguese media talk about this.
Demba Ba wouldprefer Arsenal but he caould wait and signed for Besiktas in a interview.
    falcao is a fantastic player!

  33. BrainwashedKev says:

I’ve always wanted Arsenal to sign a singing striker…

Imagine, as he swoops to head in the winner at WHL, he could render us all with ‘Another one bites the dust’ from Queen….

  34. Wavy says:

    Morning all.
I’ve become quite excited just reading the links with Falcao.
What did Goonie do I his trousers/pants? Well I nearly feel the same!
    Or,
Is it all just a pipe dream? I hope I don’t wake up and find all thhe speculation has been for nothing!
At least Kalou is not available any more!
Come on Ivan, be terrible and get the cheque book out.

  35. rockyrocastle07 says:

Same here Wavy… Although I feel I could follow through with excitement if we actually signed him

  36. rico says:

JM, I can see Campbell moving to Benfica and would explain why he wasn’t played in either CL fixtures..

I’d prefer him to stay over Sanogo, not that I don’t think the latter won’t one day be a good striker, just don’t think that day is going to be this season…

  37. rico says:

Bendtner could sign Kev, he was fantastic at everything….

I bet Rocky, really hope all goes well and I’m sure it will….

  38. rico says:

Wavy, join the excited club… But, I thought Draxler was joining last summer and look how that panned out…

  39. BrainwashedKev says:

I really don’t want Campbell to leave, not unless it frees up a spot for Reus etc…

    Otherwise, what is the point?

    Sanogo ain’t going anywhere…

  40. southyorkshiregunner says:

We have a good back four, Bondex.
Monreal is capable, Chambers looks to be a great asset.
I don’t think the Greek would improve it as such – just bolster the squad.

Please, do not take this the wrong way.
We don’t have any Greeks that play for us.
It is hard to integrate a ‘non-brilliant’ player from an unfashionable footballing country in a team of English, French, Spanish and German players.
Sanchez is an exception, as would be Falcao.
Two South Americans? I’m up for that.
    Hummels? In a heartbeat

I feel pretty much similar re: Carvalho. I don’t know that much about him, but would he fit?
It is a really great question.
Khedira? He’d slot in straight away as he is at the top of his game and all his mates are here. Same goes for Javi Martinez.

It makes it sound like I’m being clicky (clique), but I’m not.
Western Europeans integrate better than players from unfashionable footballing countries ….. or Africa…..
I have a Scottish background and I’d never ever want us to sign a Scot. Why? because they are either dead average or shit.

Maybe Daley Blind or Arthur Vidal would be better options in midfield? I don’t know.

It is what makes football brilliant.

  41. BrainwashedKev says:

If Falcao does join, then that’s likely that Podolski will be leaving…

Are we still able to sign two current foreign players for the 25..?

  42. rico says:

Shame Martinez is out for such a long time, he’d have been a really top addition to our side, not that AW would probably agree…

  43. BrainwashedKev says:

Cheers SYG, a shame as I like Podolski, but he’s on big wages and except for the first few months of his time at Arsenal, has never really threatened to be a regular first choice…

A lot of money for a ‘squad player’……

  44. rockyrocastle07 says:

yes Kev. Was initially the 1st, but doe to the little sod breeching, the c section is all booked and ready to go. Unless it comes early or unless they have to bump us for an emergency op on someone else….

  45. rico says:

From what Rick said the other day Kev, we can sign two overseas players, if Podolski goes, that would allow us 3 from overseas.

Plus, what’s happening with Miquel, Coquelin and Ryo I wonder?

  46. BrainwashedKev says:

My 2nd was a breech, well my wife’s I should say, although I did suffer in sympathy… 😉

    It’ll be fine mate…

  47. vernat1066 says:

What we need is characters who will come in and put the team first, players who every game play 7 or 8 out of 10 and allow the stars to do their thing. All the best teams have had these if you look back at Arsenal, Gilberto, Edu (for not long enough), Parlour very good footballers who let the stars play.

Especially in midfield and defence that is what we need to sign lets hope AW delivers.

  48. rockyrocastle07 says:

Rico – Just read about those 3. Miqel possibly out permanently to Norwich apparently. Ryo out of contract next summer so will probably go on a free. Coq did well last night apparently so no doubt he’ll linger around until Christmas when he is farmed out on loan again

  49. BrainwashedKev says:

Yeah Rico, that sounds about right…

If Podolski leaves then that’s even more reason to retain Campbell…
    Benfica can ‘do one’…..

Coquelin might still have a role, if Wenger can’t bring in who he wants…

Miquel looks to be offski. Ryo is always injured, loan him out.
Diaby is wasting a spot in the 25, he ain’t gonna play is he?!!!

  50. BrainwashedKev says:

Really Rico, the 3rd, well that is a coincidence…

My friend is a good guy but rather cantankerous… 😉

  51. rico says:

Rocky, out of the three, I’d have thought Miquel had the better chance of a career with us. Perhaps AW should have thought about turning him into a DM, just like the other defender who was once on our books and now plays in that role at Munchengladbach.. (spelling)

  52. goonster says:

Radamel falcao???? Really? ??? Am in kreaming heaven. Lord God help me. A long ball over the top from kozzer to ozil who holds off matic and fabregas wriggle his way past ramirez before playing a sumptuous ball to sanchez who flies past a tackle from John kuntery before laying an absolute beauty to falcao…..jizzzzz. can’t continue. Morning HH. Boy am I exited.

  53. Xr!s says:

    Top post Rico.

Always nice to read something really happening at the club- something positive- unlike at Le Grove. Sometimes,I wonder if Pedro really is an Arsenal fan and Le Grove an Arsenal Blog or just a social blog where you say anything, anyhow you love to do it. No control at all.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions but not when you become overly biased and pessimistic. We are still unbeaten this season, transfer window is still open,CL football secured, why then are we not content and patient to wait a little longer? Some Arsenal fans want us to spend 20m on a player for a season. WTH!! He went along to compare that with Fergie’s purchase of RVP(Just look at…). Fergie spent 24m to have him for 4yrs.

Although,Falcao is younger and rated more highly than RVP,he’s just back from a very serious injury and is quite a risk to take for a year and in a physical league.

We Arsenal fans should mind let the club be run by professionals(they cannot always be right) but when things go wrong,we should raise our voices to lift the roof to get heard by the hierarchy but also do same for the boys both home and away

  54. vernat1066 says:

Yes just saw that rumour p0robably rubbish but he would sort of make sense in that he covers two positions CB and RB which would free up Chambers to play CDM which is were AW sees him ?

  55. rico says:

    Thanks Xr’s.

Re Falcao, if and it’s a huge if we are going to get him on loan, I doubt very much that the club would pay £20m. Pay his wages yes, but not any fee, I don’t think loans work that way.

The £20 illion was reported to be the loan deal with Real Madrid as they want to sign him, but cannot pay the £50 because of FFP. My guess is they intend, or intended to pay £20 million this summer and the extra when the new FFP comes in..

But AW struggles to fork out £20 million on a permanent deal, I very much doubt he would for just the one year…

  56. Xr!s says:

Don’t get me wrong. I’d love to have Falcao at the club but not when the cost is absurd. If the club signs all players we fantasize to have in our team, sure it won’t be long before we joined Leeds. Sometimes,I wonder what brought this Oliver Twist feeling in Arsenal fans

  57. rico says:

Good old Sam, he’ll have a hard job getting Song to defend. Wonder if Diame is departing…

Goonsetr, calm down, it’s all just rumours… lol

  58. rico says:

Arsène Wenger has given the latest team news ahead of Sunday’s trip to Leicester City. This is what he had to say

    on Arteta, Gibbs and Ramsey…

Arteta will certainly be short for Sunday. Kieran Gibbs as well. I don’t think we have any injuries from Wednesday night against Besiktas.

Ramsey is available again because he was suspended against Besiktas. He will come back into the squad.

    on Ospina and Gnabry…

David Ospina is now back to full training [and] is available again. Maybe he’s a bit short for Sunday but he’s back. Serge Gnabry is on a good way but is nowhere near to being back in the group.

  59. rico says:

I didn’t think clubs paid for a loan deal Bt? If those figures are correct, I can’t see any deal happening, not unless AW plans to sign him permanently next summer…

  60. Xr!s says:

Lol… Rico,he’s forked more than that out for 2 seasons in a row.

I believe if we get very good players in the DM and CB positions and sell no one in attack,I think we will do better than last season. Keep everyone fit and on form

  61. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Stan – I reckon it’s right, mate.
There is a lot of truth in the rumour.

They are trying to thrash out a price for Falcao and the odds have plummeted on Arsenal getting him. It is definitely do-able.

    Fingers crossed.

  62. BT62 Gooner says:

I think, sometimes a loan fee is required, depending on what the loaning club, want for the their player.

  63. southyorkshiregunner says:

Falcao is a £60M player. A club pays that on a 3-year contract it works out at £20M per year.

  64. Xr!s says:

“We need a player with his quality and vision. I
know he’s 32 but that doesn’t matter in this
position, where you need intelligent players,
rather than the legs and stamina for the flanks.”

That’s Pep on Alonso. it seems he shares the same philosophy with Wenger. Alonso and Arteta are quite similar

  65. Nickie says:

Few people I follow, who have been correct with most transfer news have quickly shunned the Falcao stuff. If Falcao comes I will be gobsmacked. Not long to go 🙂 bring us in something to celebrate Wenger

  66. rico says:

I didn’t realise that Bt, talking of him, did you see Martinez said he’d have paid £100 million to sign Lukaku? Jose will be gutted… lol

    Lee – spooky eh…..

  67. Xr!s says:

Abel Hernandez, some Arsenal fans wanted signed, is a Hull City target. That’s just confirms his quality. All some want,is just to sign anybody hyped by the media

  68. Xr!s says:

LOL… Marcos Rojo and MUFC still fighting for his work permit. A part of me tells me he might need to go out on loan to Portugal or Spain, play more for his country before he gets granted a work permit

  69. Lewis says:

    Anyone actually believe,

1 – we will sign anyone that’ll strengthen this squad.
2 – Akpom will ever get a chance.

I for one don’t, expecting another groundhog season.

  70. goonster says:

Falcao just followed a notable arsenal fan on twitter. That’s it man am loosing it. This is really happening syg. God help me
Falcaooooooooo. I ll do something dreadful to myself is this falls through.

  71. goonster says:

Bt I ll kill myself if we don’t get falcao. Am loosing it man. Falcao sanchez and ozil? Who would have thought that 3 years ago. Falcaooooooooo. Come on arsene put me out of my misery. I can’t take it anymore. Falcaooooooooo.

  72. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Wellback on loan to toots?
    Another one…
They sign up Fabio from Sevilha. Is a good player. Totts have a good team this season .The purchases come out of the head coach to the needs of the team and not the head and the whims of the president.

  73. Nickie says:

lol Ornstien comes out with that, 2 minutes later ballbag cheek ballague says Falcao DEFINITELY not to Arsenal…..who knows what to believe….

At least it puts our minds at rest BT, if that’s what we’re waiting for 😉

  74. goonster says:

Now I see why arsene snubbed Mario baloradio. It all makes sense now. Arsene you wily old fox you 😀 sign him and you can stay till 2150 😀 Falcaooooooooo. Yeaaaaaaaaahhhh. Come on.

  75. McRaymonds says:

Actually this Falcao thing is jux blowing my mind. I will really get hurt if the deal doesn’t happen

  76. goonster says:

Macraymonds get hurt you say??? I ll shot myself cassie and brianna if we don’t get falcao now. Am that delirious now. Falcaooooooooo. God help me.

  77. Nickie says:

Sorry to burst everyones bubble but the BBC have made a major c*ck up….They took the tweet from a fake ornstien account. They have now taken it down from their website. If you can’t trust BBC who can you trust? haha

    I did BT 🙂

  78. rogerbij says:

Haha, Im at an airport on stopover, I check in here at HH and you guys are all loosing it on Falcao. Brilliant stuff. I might as well lose it too. Hopefully I wake up on the other side of the world in Falcao lalaland. Keep an eye on the prize for me all.

  79. Nickie says:

lol! as if he doesn’t get enough pleasure out of us Bt

I’m sorry Goonster, I guess you’ll have to hurt yourself now 🙂 lol just kidding.

I’m as annoyed as you, that is a huge cock up by BBC

  80. Adam says:

Hi BT. It does seem difficult to believe I guess knowing how Arsene has carried on in the past. He could be doing it as a prelude to saying how hard we tried or he could be serious. Sitting here, looking at the reality of the world outside my window it seems hard to accept it could happen though.
    What about you?

  81. goonster says:

Macraymonds hopefully not this time. We are due a total beast of a cf for 10 years. We know it he knows it the whole world know it. Falcao is coming and I for one can’t wait. Falcaooooooooo.

  82. BT62 Gooner says:

Adam, going on Arsene previous form,i find it just as difficult to believe, as yourself. On the commercial side, surely there would be, big money opportunities involved. maybe to much to resist. As usual with AFC, we can only hope.

  83. esxste says:

Falcao would be a nice signing, but I caution everyone not to get their hopes up until he’s in a red and white shirt on Arsenal.com. Papers talk up transfer rumours, even more when its Arsenal and Wenger because they know they can trot out the usual lines about how Wenger was too much of a penny pincher to seal the deal when the rumours end up being totally wrong.

I can see this Falcao thing being a sideshow and we get someone else entirely, bit like the Benzema/Di Maria thing with RM last year, and us getting Ozil out of the blue.

  84. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Stay positive BT62.

If we weren’t in for him Wenger would have nipped it in the bud at this mornings press conference by saying, “No we are not in for him – I have faith in Sanogo”

  85. goonster says:

Falcaooooooooo….I just yelled that out loud in my cubicle at work. Every yank around is freaking out….hey agag what does falcao mean in Spanish? Anyone in the know?

  86. southyorkshiregunner says:

    He is BT62.

Wenger knows Suarez would have made the difference last year.

He also knows Falcao would make the difference between top 4 and a possible cup – and being genuine PL and CL contenders.

  87. Gunnerdna says:

    David Ornstein @bbcsport_david
Ignore fake accounts – Arsenal not in for Falcao or any other CFs. #AFC plan to go with existing options but may get CB/DMF before deadline

    David Ornstein @bbcsport_david ·
#AFC still want CB/DMF (maybe someone who can do both) but likely to be squad player not big name as (esp CB) will be back-up #bbcsportsday

  88. goonster says:

Dna don’t ruin this for man and since when did orstein know what arsene is thinking. We ll get falcao end of or someone ll pay for putting me through this.

  89. Gunnerdna says:

Mourinho has veiled dig at Arsenal and Liverpool over Champions League seedings:

“You may have to look at the criteria to qualify teams for different pots,” Mourinho said.

“Roma didn’t play in Europe for a few years, but they are runners-up in Italy, so to be in the fourth pot is hard.

“On the other hand, teams that don’t win titles for a long, long time, they are in the first, second and third seeds. lol

  90. esxste says:

I just don’t see the logic in getting excited about a rumour, then get mad at Wenger for not fulfilling the rumour. Like he said at the Press conference, he’s playing a poker game, and some people seem to be demanding he show everyone his hand.

  91. southyorkshiregunner says:

Ornstein’s just pissed off because some Arsenal fan has faked his account…..

I bet he’s a right wanker in real life !

  92. goonster says:

Exactly rico didn’t he and fuckface collymore call khedira to arsenal a done deal. Oh please I saw that glint in arsene’s eyes that fox is up to something. Wait for it guys. We are going to blow folks out of the water. Falcaooooooooo. Come on yeeeeeeaaaaaah.

  93. esxste says:

Goonster, you’re right, there was defintely a glint in his eye. I’m hopeful he has an ace hidden up his sleeve. I’m impatient as anyone to know who he has his eye on, but I don’t think we’ll know anything until Sunday night.

The rumour mill gets so much wrong when it comes to Arsenal, that I take every rumour with a very generous helping of salt.

  94. rico says:

    Great minds Syg…

esxste – why not get excited over the rumour, none of us are daft enough to truly believe he’ll be a Arsenal player until it’s confirmed but we can hope…. lol

  95. Gunnerdna says:

Rico, i agree, AW himself doesn’t even know what he is doing. Check this out:

Wenger – Almunia was a great keeper

“I gave him [more credit than others] because I played him. I think he was a great goalkeeper.”

  96. rico says:

goonster, to be fair to Collymore, he just said we were interested in Sami, not sure he ever said he was definitely heading our way…

Although I wouldn’t be surprised if he does before DD ends…

  97. esxste says:

Oh Rico, no harm in getting excited about it all. Just don’t blame Wenger when it turns out to be the excrement from a male cow.

  98. Adam says:

We’re in the top 6 clubs in the world. Why shouldn’t we be interested in signing players of that calibre? The other 5 would.

  99. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Gdna

Wenger’s hardly going to say: “Almunia was a pile of shit and he was one the sole reason we lost the Premier League.”

    I would however.

  100. rico says:

Gdna, Amunia has just retired from the game with poor heath. Wenger is hardly going to tell the world he thought he was crap is he…

Wenger is a true gent is such circumstances….

  101. BrainwashedKev says:

Bloody hell, where’s all that noise and shouting coming from???

Stan, just have a Cydrax and calm down….

  102. Adam says:

Yet his first half hour against Barcelona a few years ago was one of the best displays of shot stopping I have ever seen from a keeper. I think his main attribute was that he was cheap though.

  103. rico says:

Almunia was outstanding that night Adam in the first half, such a shame he couldn’t maintain that high level…

  104. BrainwashedKev says:

When a manager bugs a player, he’s putting his reputation on the line, so it’s obvious that he’ll ‘big up’ any player he paid money for…

Didn’t Wenger ‘big up’ Silvestre ffs…

Alumnus wasn’t totally rubbish, he was average and made a nice living for himself…

It wasn’t his fault that Arsene deluded himself into thinking that Almunia was World class, when clearly he was average…

  105. southyorkshiregunner says:

Adam – A stopped clock is right twice a day. It is the equivalent of 1 good game in every 12.

  106. goonster says:

Syg the bookies know fuck all. How many of them called ozil or carzola. We re getting Falcao. End off. Hey ak how’s tricks?

  107. potter says:

Almunia was a more than decent number 2 and like so many squad players at The Arsenal he got promoted above his abilities.

  108. southyorkshiregunner says:

Average is an apt description of Almunia, Kev. Dog average.

    Average = Average

I’d say you win nothing with Average, however Greece won Euro 2004 with the most average side ever. I think they just bored the opposition to death.

  109. southyorkshiregunner says:

Yes Adam – I can see the rumour being totally and utterly true.

Falcao will wear the number 9 shirt vacated by Podolski

  110. BrainwashedKev says:

Hi Stan, I’m good thanks, gonna have a ruby tonight with some convivial company.

How are you and the family Stan, any thoughts on trying for another yet???

SYG, yep, average means average, there ain’t no other way of putting it…

  111. BT62 Gooner says:

Kev, is it true, that Aw stopped doing interviews with Arsenal fans, after one asked, “what the fcuk, why did you sign shit, like Silvestre?”

  112. goonster says:

Try for another kev? Really??? The first one is still working my nerves. She keeps me up all night. Try for another?? Not for another 10 years me think.

  113. southyorkshiregunner says:

I think that is spot on BT62. That did happen.

We are having a curry Kev – just been ordered.

  114. goonster says:

Syg tell that to brianna. Gee she’s so infuriating. If I didn’t know any better I ll say it’s karma fighting back. God help me.

  115. Lee says:

I beg to differ about 6yr old kids I’ve been called a slave and have been running about like a blue arsed fly! I love her really….

  116. rico says:

    What are ‘pardon peppers’?

I love twitter Bt, it’s like reading the ‘Famous Five’ all over again….

  117. Wavy says:

Do you think Wenger enquired if he could borrow Torres? Morono realising the danger made sure he went abroad and for 2 years at that! So the Arsenal didn’t get a look in! ……..I wonder………?

  118. Micko says:

    Evening all,
Manuel will probably turn his hand to punditry now but it wouldn’t surprise me if he ran away and joined the circus either !

As for Falcao, think we’re all gonna be crying in our beers come Tuesday.

  119. gonerjoe says:

Goonster every thing is going greatspent the day in the sun now doing some shopping I am having a great time so my wife says (I hate shopping);)

  120. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Dortmund is very strong.
The greek defender is very good. I know him. it’s nice be link with him but I’m quite dure he is nort leaving.

  121. Joaquim Moreira says:

Totts signed the player we want: Stambouly from montpelier. Not expensive, good player and a DM/central defender

  122. Scott From Oz says:

    Morning all.
I’m hardly known as Mr Negative, but I can’t see anything at all in Wenger, or in Arsenal leading me to believe we will sign Falcao.

  123. BT62 Gooner says:

Arsenal Ladies, have a new manager starting Sept 15th, Pedro Martinez Losa….seems to be very experienced.

  124. Wavy says:

They should bring back big Vic. He was the man! Although he seems to share a few leaving issues with SAF!
    Come on youArse Ladies!

  125. BrainwashedKev says:

My guess is, despite all the fluff in the Media, that Arsenal will sign Adrien Rabiot, and that will that, for the Summer Window…

Wenger is gonna go with Sanchez, Campbell and Sanogo, until Walcott is fit, then have a look at what he’s got…

After that, and unless we have anymore serious injuries, he’ll do bugger all in January and rely on Giroud returning at the end of January to be able to claim that OG is like a ‘new signing’….

Podolski is another option with Akpom, depending on how he matures this season…

    Sleep well.
    Night All…

  126. Lee says:

This poor 5yr old boy with a brain tumour that’s been taken from hospital by his Jehovah’s Witness parents……

  127. BT62 Gooner says:

Morning all, yesterdays excursions into “fantasy land”,must have left a lot of people, needing a good lie in…lol
