Morning all.
The relationship I have with Wenger is good and I think he will continue, but he has not yet communicated it to anyone. He is a normal person, very accessible, humble. Wenger knows all the people who work at the club and is always willing to help them.
I had the bad luck to get injured in the first few months and that affected me but today I feel very capable of showing why they signed me. I am trying to take the chances they give until they have 100 percent confidence in me. The manager is happy that I am in the squad because whenever I play I have done well.
That’s Lucas Perez talking to Spanish newspaper Marca.
Having played very little since his move to London, I thought he may already be preparing to depart in search of regular football as I doubt he thought he’d be on the bench or left out of the squad entirely, as much as he has. Mind you, neither did I. Last season he was playing regular football for Deportivo and having made 36 league appearances for the Spanish club, scoring 17 goals. For Arsenal though, he’s been involved in just 11 league matches so far and most of those have been from the bench yet considering Wenger likes his team to keep the ball on the ground, I’m surprised his opportunities have been so limited. Unlike Walcott, Lucas tracks back, works hard and isn’t easily brushed off the ball so why not stick him in the team from now on and see where it takes us?
Man City are going to be a tough opposition on Sunday afternoon but like us, they too have their weaknesses and that’s in defence. Bravo, Caballero, Stones, Otamendi and Clichy are all there for the beating and who would you rather see getting at their dodgy defence, Lucas or Theo? I guess if Wenger sets us up to concede possession and hit them on the break, Walcott’s pace comes into the frame, but Lucas is no cart-horse himself and if it came to one on one, I’d back the Spaniard over the Englishman. Just as I would when it comes to the defensive stuff, Lucas isn’t afraid to get stuck in at all.
Being at home though, you’d expect Arsene Wenger to set his team up to get at City from the off, the way they did against Chelsea and… oh, just Chelsea but we were good that day, very good and we’ll have to be again on Sunday if there’s a chance of getting a top four place. Not that I care whether we do or not as regardless of who the manager is next season, not being in Europe could help us.
The thought is that a loss to City this weekend could be the final straw for Arsene Wenger. I think it certainly would be for the fans because feelings of frustration and anger are reaching boiling point and not just because we haven’t won a league game since February 11th, or because we suffered humiliation at the hands of Bayern Munich.
No, this is because a steady decline has being played out before us for many a year now. Not even a top four place should save him this season, it really shouldn’t but if the decision over Arsene Wenger’s future really has already been made then what happens between now and the end of the season will make little difference in my opinion.
Even if City beat us, he’ll believe we can win the next game and until it’s mathematically impossible to get into the Champions League places, his stance will be that he and his team can.
That’s what he does, head in the sand and carry on regardless which is why we are where we are now.
On a brighter note, the international fixtures are done and dusted and we’ve suffered no injuries…..
Finally, good to see Video Technology being used last night and successfully too. Apparently the FA hope to introduce it in the FA Cup next season from the 3rd round onward. FIFA want it at the World Cup in Russia too.
Good, it’s about time the world of football caught up with other sports…
Boo…
Boo back 🙂
Morning Rico.
I really hope Lucas stays because he’s exactly the type of player we need-a fighter who always gives his all.
I’ll never understand why he’s not been utilised a lot more.
Boo
Hi Scott.
Hoo…
Any news on Cech? The thought of Ospina in goal seriously worries me…
Morning all and thanks Rico.
Is a mystery to why Perez is not being used more often, maybe we will find out in Wenger`s book when he leaves……………..he is going isn`t he ?
About time with the video technology !…………..I was part of the testing team for it at some low key matches but when they asked me for a penalty decission to be reviewed the only footage was of some fit looking womans cleaverage in the crowd !…………..another short lived job ! hahaha
It is when it’s Iwobi keeping him out Lc.
Our best attacking options are surely three of Welbeck, Alexis, Walcott and Lucas?
Drop Iwobi as he’s really not doing a lot, keep Ozil in and then a midfield with two of Elneny, Xhaka or OX…
The back five sadly picks itself…
I reckon Perez doesn’t get any game time because Wenger has become a shit clueless manager. He also loves shoe horning members of the over-paid Wenger appreciation society into the side to the detriment of the team.
This is a bloke that stuck with the Spanish waiter in goal for how many seasons? Absolutely woeful decision along with a plethora more!
Have to agree Lee. He’s doing a terrible job these days and yet I doubt he can even see it….
If we sell Alexis to Chelsea, Wenger is going to be in for the serious abuse if he stays…
The Arsenal PR team mention that there’s a £100m war chest available… the bloke has spent £250m over the past few seasons and we are worse off!
He’ll be in for abuse whatever…. the same shit will play out, same pathetic lame excuses.
Just look in the mirror Wenger!!!
I reckon they’ve been in touch with SS’s too as they’ve been showing the 2003/04 season…
Let him reap what he sows. I have not an ounce of sympathy for him. Not anymore….
Afternoon Rico and All
The last few weeks I’ve been trying to
fathom out these Arsene supporters
who are paying out dough for a plane
to tell Arsene to stay and sign.
This group cannot be Gooners..Can They
Are they Money people who own shares
Are they Corporate Companies who couldn’t
give a monkeys,Who wins or Losers.
Or is it The Syrup of Figs who is behind
this Plane.
Because ….. None of this makes any sense.
What is the argument for him to stay?
Nurse.
VAR, or Video Assistant Referee will certainly add something to the drama, as it does in rugby and cricket.
Nevermind the spontaneity of the game, just get the decisions right.
Imagine the 2001 FACup final.
Stephane Henchoz gets a red card for handball on the line, we get a penalty, Thierry Henry finally scored in a cup final and Michael Owen doesn’t have his 5 minutes of fame the little shit…
Afternoon Fred/Kev, wasn’t it traced back to being one of the boards family or something like that who paid fr the Wenger stay plane……
I welcome the technology, big time… Seems the ref made two big reviews last night and both overturned…
Afternoon Rico/Fred.
I did read that the Hong Kong company that paid for the pro-Wenger plane at West Brom is run by the nephew of Keswick.
Not sure if Keswick junior is a shareholder, director or CEO..?
That’s the one I read too Kev .. idiots if true
I can find excuses for the people who want Wenger to stay… maybe he’s all they have known and they want him to make his own call, out of some misguided loyalty … I get that. BUT, even more disturbing is why would Wenger wants to stay at an advanced age of 70 when its quiet evident that he’s not any good as a winning manager and keeps declining. He’s embarrassing himself and the club.
But even if he’s all they’ve known, they’d have to be blind not to have seen the decline. I agree, he is embarrassing himself and the club with his spin each week and tired and boring football.
If Wenger stays it`s bad enough, but if he sells Alexis to the bigger clubs in the EPL ( notice I didn`t say…Rivals..that`s because we are not rivals, we dont compete with them, they are way beyond us ! ) then I will wash my hands of my second love ( first love was mum ! ) and wait `till Wenger has gone !……………………………..then again , lets not be too hasty as I do love a good old moan ! hahaha
Lc, you did say a good old moan and not, a good old man? Didn’t you?
I suppose Rico/Kev that adds up,
I never knew that.
Shame he hasn’t a woman behind him.
I’d push him Fred… lol
alexis to chelsea?!!!
Madeira airport change his name to Cristiano Ronaldo airport.
Crazy people or not?
Let’s hope not Jm…
Did he build that hotel on Porto Santo JM.
Wavy…………………when there`s no woman left on this earth……….no Beavers……….no marsupials……..no Giraffes ( waste of time they are……too tall to snog !)……….no skippy`s etc etc etc…………….then I might consider it !
😀
He has a museum in Madeira, is a ownwr of a hotel in Funchal (Madeira) and is a partner in a hotel or a a hotel network in Porto Santo.
And a statue that resembles Theresa May #proud!Crisiano. Lol
Interesting to read that the leader of the Green Party’s partner was once a big wig in Socialist Workers Party.
I’m sure that it was the SWP that Vanessa Redgrave represented back in the 1970’s when she stood in a by-election in Newham, where I was living at the time…
The Greens, SWP, BNP, Monster Raving Looney Party, only in the UK.
I met screaming Lord Such Kev. He really was an odd one…
Morning all..
The Ronaldo statue is fucking hilarious, certainly takes the edge off of the Arsenal shit show!!!
‘I am happy in London and I hope to finish my contract at Arsenal,’ Sanchez said at a press event in Santiago. ‘I want to stay in a winning team and keep playing in the same city. I want to play in a team that has aspirations’
Make him 100% right….. Chelsea then?
Nah, he’s staying….
Morning Rico. If Sanchez gets sold to Chelsea then it will be a sad day, but a reliable signpost to where we are as a club. If he won’t sign a new contract, I suppose the club would have to sell him in the summer.
I understood that Arsene has already made his mind up so why the wait? Unless it’s for some good news.
Morning Adam.
Didn’t Wenger say that both Sanchez and Ozil wouldn’t be sold?
Rico. I believe so, but Arsene has said many things.
Most of which has been lies Adam.
He once said that we wouldn’t sell Nasri and Cesc either.
True, true.
Morning all.
I’ve got a few mates both here and in North London who remain avid Arsene supporters.
They make decent arguments why he should stay.
Now, I believe the reasons he should go outweigh the reasons they offer, but who am I to tell them they’re wrong?
One, in particular, is a ST holder who also gets to his fair share of away games.
He’s heavily involved with the Supporters club.
He was at BOTH Bayern games so also does his share of travelling and spending his cash to support the side.
The man truly is one of the most respectful and polite people you could ever hope to meet, and is certainly no dummy, so how could anyone declare him anything but a loyal supporter?
On Sanchez, I hope he stays and fights, as long as he starts playing for the side and not himself, because the quality is there and that’s staying the obvious.
Ozil as well but we need to buy some more players if this quality to help these gents show their best.
As I said, lies, darn lies….
New post up now…
