Exclusive Headline, No substance. No get-out clause & Champions League nearly here….

Morning all.

Where, over? 'London Colney, one man has passed out'....
Where to?
‘London Colney, one man has passed out’….

Poor old Arsene Wenger, he’s picked up the Daily Star early this morning, having forgotten that PHW doesn’t have too much to say to them any more and he’s see their headline:

EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal to table £51m record bid for Luis Suarez……

Seriously, I’d love to know how both David Woods and Adrian Kajumba have come to this conclusion. A grand headline but not a shred of evidence included in the following article to support their theory.

It seems ‘that clause’ has finally been explained and it doesn’t favour Luis Suarez. Gordon Taylor, the PFA‘s chief executive has seen the related paperwork and explained:

If you are going to have a supposed buyout clause, it should be that but it is different as it says, ‘If there is no qualification for the Champions League and if there is a minimum offer of £40m, then the parties will get around the table to discuss things.’ But it does not say the club has to sell. It quite clearly states £40m is a minimum offer for discussions but it becomes really difficult with such clauses.

There is a ‘good-faith clause’ in relation to serious discussions but I can’t say it is a cast-iron buyout clause.

So that’s that sorted out and no doubt that is why The Daily Star believe we will bid over £50 million and because that is what Rodgers believes he is worth.

Personally, I just can’t see it and in any case, John Henry is supposed to have said that Liverpool will not ever sell Luis Suarez to Arsenal.

Anyway, onto something real.

The draw for the play-off round of the Champions League takes place tomorrow and now that the second legs of the third qualifying round have been played out, we know who we could be drawn against.

We are seeded so we can’t face another seeded side who are:

  • AC Milan, Schalke, Zenit St Petersburg and Lyon

The unseeded sides are:

  • Real Sociedad, Pacas de Ferreira, Fenerbahce, Metalist Kharkiv and PSV Eindhoven
So we could travel to:
Spain
Portugal
Turkey ( Subject to CSA Ruling)
Ukraine ( If UEFA don’t throw them out for match fixing. An investigation is ongoing)
Holland

We should beat any one of those shouldn’t we… Shouldn’t we???

Finally there is all sorts of stuff in the gossip pages, from a raid on Anzhi as the club have a clear our and Ilkay Gundogan is also being linked with us.

Wouldn’t it be nice to hear we’d signed a player or two of quality….

That’s it for another day…

Morning all. Just off to the gym.

“The bias distorts the reality of what’s happening. On the face of it, a player wants to leave an average team and join a better one… and a clause has been activated.” Le-Grove this morning.

For Suarez to state this, that and the other, and publicly, there has to be some truth in it. Personally I think Brendan Rogers is lying out of his back teeth. THERE HAS BEEN AN AGREEMENT, but Rogers has basically shit his pants as he didn’t think Suarez would do what he has. He will be an Arsenal player come Sept 2nd.

As for who comes in with him is anyones guess. Bernard and Lars Bender, maybe. Fabregas – who knows.

We need at least three world class players and a couple of good ones.

  2. Kc says:

Heard that flamini is training with us,i wil have him back..even after d way he left us,AW is too soft-hearted,no wonder ex player dnt criticize him

  3. rico says:

    Fab, thanks Scott..

Kc, I doubt that is true re Flamini, he shafted AW, now way can I see him coming back…

  4. viera says:

You missed the REALLY important bit…..‘If there is no qualification for the Champions League “……if we qualify then the clause is activated……but will mr bitey still be avaliable?

    At £41 mill a good buy @ £55 mill ….not for me

  5. tsgh says:

    Morning faithfuls,

Good read Rico… you got me worried with that pic.lol

I wouldn’t say a Ukrainian team will be easy as we have not beaten both Ukrainian and Greek teams in their backyard for donkey years if I am not mistaken. Turkish teams are our boogey teams too… I will take a night out to Holland any day btw…

  6. ktr7 says:

Good read rico.its now getting to a stage where am beginning to wonder if the suarez saga is really wortb all the hustle.it seems we are entirely focussed on him with little else happening.its pure negligence on the club’s part that 1 week till the league starts and we haven’t even signed a singl 1st team player.no matter how wenger tries to spin us by saying the market is inactive he can’t get away from the fact we have done nothing at all.i said from the start i don’t believe him anymore and it looks that my reservations on all the ‘big signings’ talk was justified after all.

  7. devilgunner says:

    Good read Rico.

Annoyingly there is nothing new regarding who we are getting. Seems as if we have been trumped up again.

Its not that I want the whole team changed. But for heaven’s sake can we get a couple of world class players who can lift our team???

why do we need to haggle all the time?

why do we get put through the wringer all the time?

All the time the club makes us look like chumps.

  8. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Morning to the Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

    Can’t stay long, but popped in to link this article which makes very interesting reading;

Why Tottenham won’t get most of the cash if they sell Bale to Real Madrid.

    http://blog.emiratesstadium.info/archives/30010

It seems that Spanish football is broke. Bargains will be available and player prices will drop.

    Keep the Faith!

  9. Bradster says:

    Good morning all,

Long weekend for me and my birthday saturday too to make it extra special.

Good to know CG, wouldn’t mind a bargain or 2 from there.

  10. Canadian Gooner says:

How many times today are The Star going to post, repost, re-repost, ad nauseum the same article.

EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal prepare record £51m bid for Luis Suarez

I’m going to stick my neck out and say I’ll be extremely surprised if Arsenal bid that high. We may have the player for a season or two and his price next summer or the summer of 2015 will be much less than £51 million.

    Catch you all later.

  11. tsgh says:

    Totally agree Cg

….’,Of course the clubs are doing everything possible to put a spin on their situation – and the fact that some people actually believe that players like Bale can be paid for in shirt sales shows how gullible some supporters – and indeed journalists – are.”

AW was talking about clubs going ‘pop’ 15 years ago whilst ignorant sports journos were laughing and wondering how a mere foreign manager can predict clubs going burst…

  12. tsgh says:

Franco Baldini now with the scums is doing better than IG and Dickie law at this moment in regards to signings… c’mon there are still players available who will improve us sign them please!

  13. southyorkshiregunner says:

Heard that Flamini is training with us. Not sure how true it is,
The Flamini that left us will not be the same flamini that is now. A bit like having Hleb back?
Thauvin hasn’t turned in for training this morning. Arsenal-bound?

    Blogging on phone is shite

  14. tsgh says:

Hi Scott, I think a lot of people will like that those without grudges. He is AFC true and true. Imagine him kicking Oscar, Nasri or RVP for us against the chavs…

I loved the way he bullied Nasri a year and a bit ago the way most fans would want to do…

  15. Padar says:

    Morning all,
What I don’t understand in all of this is how Arsenal let everything run on & on, clearly winding up the fans. Is it a case of ‘bid below what the player is worth, and then we have an excuse when the transfer doesn’t come about’..
Fair enough €40m is a huge bid, but I’m sure €45 would seal the deal. Are we (the fans), been put in a situation where on the last day we’ll just be delighted to have any incoming signatures?
Maybe I’m just paranoid. Shitty went about their business nice & early, giving the team a pre-season together. I know they can pay what they want, but they didn’t pay well over the odds for players in this transfer window. Can Wenger not just say, ‘I want him, him & him, go & get them for me please’…seems pretty simple to me. With all this Suarez confusion going on, we don’t seem to be filling the obvious gaping holes either, ie..DM, CB, etc etc…I’ll keep the faith until September 2nd…maybe…

  16. tsgh says:

The Samuel Eto rumours are interesting. It’s coming from Rico’s 2nd favourite ‘sauce’ Caught offside so… lol

  17. Wasiu says:

Morning all, its been a while rico, good post as always i think a trip to portugal is juiciest and i expect AW to make a final take it or leave offer of £45m or less for suarez

  18. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hiyal Ginge. Frimpong won’t make it. He told you all that himself when he optedd for his motherland instead of England.
His passion is there but his head is elsewhere.
Zelalem? Now that’s a different story. Watch him chuck his teddy out of the pram when Zelalem starts getting more first team call ups…. He probably do a Coquelin and demand more playing time…and get shied out to Ipswich or Leicester…….
You can have everything going, but if the head is fcukd you can only go so far… There’s a fine line between success and failure.

  19. tsgh says:

goal.com and caught offside are seen as the epitome of accuracy… lol

Frimps has Nando’s on his mind… lol

  20. tsgh says:

Hi Wasiu, we did Malaga a favor imho… they were about to be kicked out of Europe… that cash down payment (no installments) which we made paid for salaries for a week or 2.

  21. stevepalmer1 says:

    Afternoon all, Nice one Rico.
Think its pretty clear that Liverpool has said things and worded them a little different, thats why soliitors are called in for final signings and we know how dodgy they are. At the end of the day if liverpool were successful in keeping the player they would wonder if they will get the best out of him. I think we’ll get him for under 45 mill its funny how reporters love to spend our money.
What i find amusing is all the clubs in the premier league some with bundles of money that the reporters never seem to bump prices up for those teams, in fact they only report when the deal is done. Makes me realise just what a massive club Arsenal are. Chelsea with 2 bids for one of Englands finest players and hardly a squeek absolutly shit reporting.

  22. southyorkshiregunner says:

Members day. Twitter alive with it.
Kids being ordered to stand back; you can’t use that camera the lens is too long etc

    …. These are paying customers

  23. kel says:

Wenger and co, really need to get there heads Outta there arses ffs, we really need reinforcements on the defensive side of things, as well as the attacking side, and in my opinion we need them before this champions league qualifier. I honestly think as the squad stands, fenerbahce or Real sociedad would cause us a lot of problems And fancy there chances. I am genuinely struggling to understand why Arsenal have not strengthened there team by now. Ps. What’s the cut off date to for any players signed to be eligible for the CLQ.

  24. SD UK says:

Hi everyone, no news and the Scums signed Capoue and Bernand signed for Shakhtar Donesk.

So now news then and it is funny seeing Rogers having a fit.

He is so scared it is unbelievable.

I believe when we really qualify for CL , they will be forced to allow Suareze to talk to us and we can then discuss with Liverpool on the price . So we might add £5mil more nothing else which will make Suareze an Arsenal board signing because there is no way Wenger was going to sanction £40mil for a player.

  25. stevepalmer1 says:

I would of thought that the teams would have been submited by now. But the actual competition would be after the transfer window. No rush what so ever. Arsenal have and i suppose they will always be on the tight side, they negotiate the lowest price they can, we moan about other teams buying early and having their players fitted in, but a lot of the big buys we wouldn’t be involved with. Wenger understands the market, he knows who’s worth what and like your Mrs in a sale she knows what the bargain price is compared to the original price. Wenger will not be forced to buy for the sake of it, he will buy when he’s ready and i would expect him to do what he has done in the past and buy late. If there is one thing about Wenger is that he will not be forced by anybody, he has his own way of doing things not always to our likeing but he gets there in the end. Countless amounts has been reported that we have to spend, other teams realise that and will try hard nosed tactics but Wenger knows who he wants and he will wait till he believes he can get them for the price he wants. In this window he has to be careful as he knows how the fans feel if he fucks up his next season could be messy.

  26. stevepalmer1 says:

My thoughts on this transfer window is that if he lets it go without buying he has made his mind up that he will not be staying and the money in the kitty is a war chest for his replacement to rebuild as he so wishes, But i cannot see that happening Wenger will want to surpass Rednose he loves stats and he will love being named as the leagues longest searving manager and he will have that for as long as he is in residence i expect signings and there could be a few.

  27. kel says:

Sp1… The champions league doesn’t start for us after the widow has closed, 😉 so in my opinion time is running out fast m8.

  28. Federico says:

SP – That is what I was thinking. I am wondering if Wenger is taking the flak for the board before swanning off to PSG. It is why, although I am annoyed, I try to keep it in check in case he doesn’t buy anyone.

His position will become untenable with the fans this year if he buys no one and things go south.

  29. stevepalmer1 says:

Sorry had a few things to do if you guys are still around i apologise. Wenger has made the running and made a bid that suggests to me that he is staying would look a right plank had the first offer been accepted wouldn’t he if he then said no thanks. Wenger in my mind has made his mind up i feel he knows who he wants but is keeping mum about it and he probably feels he can get said players cheaper as the window draws nearer. Felainey looks to me to be a possible no one else has come in with a bid and not much press linking a move to us i wouldn’t even rule out a bid for Rooney but i feel that Rooney would want to be the main man and Suarez would bugger that. Williams is Languishin in a lower division he has just taken a pay cut and will probably slit his own throat if he has to stay there . A lot of players are hoping that a Wenger will come along and have a cheeky bid for them and some clubs need the money. Deals are done very late in the window and if you offer bids up early clubs can hang about for ages and try and get the press involved Wenger hates that he likes to do it late so no body influences any of his offers. I could be wrong and he has decided to quit but i wouldn’t be putting my house on it.

  30. Asiangooner says:

Hi Rico, Syg, TS, Adam and all HHs

Syg I like your optimism but I am really worried now mate! Dont think we will get Suarez as I am quite confident we will not raise our bid… I guess we will just have to wait and see.

Would be nice if we get Gundogan but I just have this feeling deep down that our biggest signing this year would be Cesc…. call me a dreamer but I would be so glad if its true.

Question to all my friends…… God forbid if we dont get Suarez!!! what other options are still available in the market for strikers?

  31. stevepalmer1 says:

Asian G, even the ones that have just been brought can still be sold while the window is open, so that means we can bid for anybody.

  32. stevepalmer1 says:

We have reportedly 70 mill in the bank Bale is the man who could break the tranfer record at 85 Mill so anybody who is just under that can be a possible. 🙂

  33. Asiangooner says:

    Hi TS and lol SP

I really hoped it was this simple that we can buy players who are just been bought this window!!! technically you are right but has it ever happened? Just asking

You know the funny thing is what wenger said in his last interview that some clubs bought really early and that reduced targets….. man…… why didnt anyone ask him that what was stopping him to buy early!!! ridiculous

  34. stevepalmer1 says:

Asian, I know what your saying and i have to agree but all those teams that brought early have probably spent their money and are sitting there now watching the Arsenal apart from the wealthy clubs many are like us and are watching what we do very closely their out of the game now and they will be nursing their new men and making sure they are fit for their first game.

  35. Asiangooner says:

Thats true SP but the question is that are those teams better off or is arsenal in a better position. I am just worried that we might end up without signing anyone if LS cannot be signed! There is only other striker who i rate highly now and that is lewandowski and i think signing him is harder than signing LS

  36. tsgh says:

    SP1, it must surely be Diaby’s double…

I always expected Diaby to be in a wheel chair when he was on one of his sabbaticals .

  37. stevepalmer1 says:

He will be, when he walks that long walk back in Ginge. 🙂

Asian you know as well as me you offer enough anything is doable 🙂

  38. ArsenalDK says:

Why haven’t we bought Begovic yet? 12 mill. Pounds for one of the best in the league. And he’s only 25 still. It’s the same old story every year. We qualify for the CL and thats it. We’ll never move on if we don’t invest..

  39. stevepalmer1 says:

The reason we have a 70 million kitty is we are one of the best investors just not in players DK But it has to be said that if there are any stat men out there i bet wengers buying and selling is in the plus zone

  40. allezkev says:

All the woman, of Exchange Square, are currantly walking around with beaming smiles on their little faces…

Ol’ Blue Eyes is Back… 😉

  41. vernat1066 says:

Anzhi Makhachkala entire squad up for transfer Eto stil managed one goal every two games there, not sure that we would want anyone else maybe Willian ?? Odil Ahmedov claimed we have scouted him as well perhaps we will be buying from here?

Underwhelming i know but we need to get on with this transfer window cant understand why we have not made a move for a centre half and a mid fielder while we have the anfield soap opera (next revelation will be that Rogers is the evil twin who kidnapped his talented brother and has him locked up while he ruins a once proud institution)

  42. vernat1066 says:

Will the Ox get more games this season and where will he be played, I hope he is pushed to succeed and not held back because the pressure is to much I some time think Theo has had too gentle a time at Arsenal and if thrown in the deep end earlier his progress might have been faster than it has until now.

  43. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hiya Vernat – Chamberlain has all the qualities to succeed. Touch wood – this year could be his year.

  44. tsgh says:

    Evening Rico…

Gibbs was asked to name the three toughest players in the squad and he nominated Laurent Koscielny, Abou Diaby and Bacary Sagna. Having omitted Olivier Giroud “because he’s a bit fancy!”, Giroud entered the room and suggested a boxing match! Abou Diaby? 😀 😀

I guess he has ‘mental resources’… lol

  45. TT says:

I have no doupt AW will sign at least 3 top players. We also have Diaby coming back from injury. Not to mention that Flamini and Frank McLintock are training with the squad so there is our DM and CD sorted……..now where is that stuff John Henry sent me to smoke?!!!

  46. rico says:

v10 – have to agree to a degree re TW getting an easy time, but that’s down to lack of depth in quality in the squad – now we have Ox and Gnabry pushing him but imho, Ox game is better central as he isn’t afraid to run at the defence and cause all sorts of problems.

TW was at his very best after having a few weeks on the bench early season. Once he knew he was back, his goal tally dipped.

Just why having a lot of quality in the side is a good thing, keeps players on their toes for a starting place…

  47. rico says:

Evening Ts, strange Gibbs would mention Diaby, he was still in short trousers when Diaby last trained with the squad 😉

  48. vernat1066 says:

Hi SYG i really hope that Rosicky stays fit for a period of time because of all the players in our squad the Ox could learn from his is the best example with how he looks to speed the game up his attitude and vision such a shame he can’t stay fit for a whole season.

  49. tsgh says:

The dippers being scared to lose just one player to an alleged rival is a demonstration of Liverpool’s inferiority complex. When we lost RVP we got on with it and actually did better without him. Liverpool should adopt the same self belief and sell him to us pronto…

Michu is looking good… he is worth a last minute tempt..

  50. rico says:

I’m surpris El Jadeed needed a trial if he was good Ts. Is it definite we have offered him a contract?

  51. rico says:

I’m not so sure we did better without RvP – if our goal tally had stayed as it was and then add his 30+ a season, we’d have nabbed 2nd imho… If not top spot.

  52. tsgh says:

    According to ladyarse…

Re RVP- I am sure its not as simple as that otherwise Wooney won’t be attention seeking as before Judas arrived he scored 25 goals but scored 16 or so goals the season just gone…

I get your drift there but I think not having a main man gave as a better team…

  53. rico says:

But look how many sitters we missed, RvP would have buried most of them. Imho, we were a far worse side without the badger.

  54. keith says:

we finished with more points without rvp this year than we did with rvp last year! you couldnt say that if he was still with us then we would have had an additional 30 goals because he would have taken the place of another striker who may have scored…also we prob would have just played through him and over relied on his goals like we did last year! we have a better team contribution now tho 🙂

  55. tsgh says:

It was interesting to see we still had 26 players practicing at the erms including the 4 youngsters Serge, Zelalem, Akpom and Ryo…

  56. tsgh says:

We scored more goals too Keith…

Of course having him would have given us variety and an option to keep players fresh… 😉

  57. rico says:

Keith, but on the flip, you can’t say that had he stayed, we wouldn’t have scored a lot more and won games which we lost through not converting our chances…

I know it’s only my opinion, but I sure as heck believe we’d have been a much much strong side with RvP in it.

Why else would AW be trying to sign a world class striker if he didn’t think the same….

  58. arsenal11730 says:

SP1 you appear to be very bullish recently. I would love to share your upbeat enthusiasm. We do need Suarez as the team need a warrior to get them to commit themselves over the line. It appears the transfer maybe moving towards our direction. Hopefully RM are Bale focused in talks with Levy. I am not sure why we let the Spuds get Capoue but AW knows the French market. I still feel we need a CB if injuries hit and GK to keep Scez on his toes. I expect 2 – 3 additions to the squad later in the window, and trust God shines on us with the CL Qual draw tomorrow. We will need to win before the Suarez Gooner era begins.
    Cheers

  59. devilgunner says:

    Good Evening Fine Friends.

Ladies 1-0 up. And by the look of it they should be steamrolling the Everton Ladies. The lasses scored in the 7th minute with their first shot on target.

    With Rvp or without???

    Hmmmm.

I think overall it was better without him. Yes he may have given us a 30 goal season, but at what cost??

Would we have bought Cazorla, Podolski and Giroud if he had stayed???

    Maybe yes maybe no.

But we finished with more points than the previous season. And lesser goals against.

    Ladies 2-0 up now.

  60. kel says:

I think if we had RVP last season the pts swing between us and utd would have been around 10-13pts.. imo.

  61. devilgunner says:

Much lesser Kel. We might have had around 10 points more, but Manure would have had around 20 points less.

  62. rico says:

a117 – Suarez and another 3 hard working, really good players and we’d challenge imho

For sure we would and we will, IF we sign him, but I don’t think we will….

  63. rico says:

Evening Devil, we’ll never know now but I sure as heck wish he’d stayed…

And give me a fit Rvp over Giroud and Podolski any day of the week, but the better option is all of them…

  64. rico says:

Been a bit of a day for me, so off to watch Masterchef and have an early night…

Have a good evening all, ’til tomorrow….

    Night to you all…..

  65. kel says:

not sure devil, rooney would have stepped up to the mark for utd imo. lets hope vp gets injured just after we have signed rooney lol then it will be a 20pt swing 😉

  66. allezkev says:

Arsenal Members Day. The team doing some light training in front of the fans, all good PR I suppose…

Akpom, Gnabry, Martinez, Zelamen all took part as did Frimpong…

Not sure what any of that tells us tbh?

Bendtner and Park frozen out. It’s gonna be a long lonely season for those two…

  67. allezkev says:

Gnabry looks as if he’s gonna have a role to play in the first team squad.
Miyaichi’s injury could be costly if the young German progresses, because it seemed as if Wenger was gonna push Ryo into the squad more, but now Serge could take his place?

Zelamen is an interesting one, as Wenger has never been slow in pushing youngsters into the team, if they are good enough. This kid might well feature in more than just the odd League Cup tie. We might see him coming off of the bench in EPL & CL games this season…

Martinez looks set to be the 3rd choice goalkeeper.

Akpom is interesting. Having been impressed by this kid when I saw him in pre-season 12 months ago, there’s no doubt that he has improved. His goalscoring record is impressive, both for club and country. So even with Sanogo in the squad, I see no reason why Wenger wouldn’t give Chubs a few starts in cup ties and maybe a few games offof the bench. With so many unwanted players transfered out this summer, there are bound to be many more opportunities for our talented youngsters…

  68. allezkev says:

Hi Scott, to me Suarez is enough to make my summer.

Get him and I will be satisfied…

The question is, will Liverpool relent and take the money.
    Is he worth £50million???
Probably not, but I would pay it, for all the positive psychological reasons that transfer would give us and the message it sends out worldwide…

  69. allezkev says:

As for Frimpong, I have already stated that I think his future lays elsewhere…

    But does it???

Maybe Wenger has seen something in him in training?

Maybe he is finally growing up?

Despite what I wrote, I would be very happy to see him turn his career around and make the grade at Arsenal…

Choosing to play for the country of his parents wasn’t a wise move imho. Loosing him to the AcoN makes him less of an asset, but it’s the way of the football world.

    Night Gooners

  70. Scott from Oz says:

Kev, i am with you on Suarez.
Like Devil, i would prefer Rooney because i think he is more long term, but a signing of that magnitude wold do the club and its fans the world of good.
It would also send a signal to the footballing world that we mean business.

  71. rico says:

That word is banned Lee 😉

    Morning to you and all….

Henry says Suarez will not be sold and certainly not to us….

    That’ll be that then……

  72. rico says:

That’s a tough call Lee, probably the old Cesc, not the one who spat his dummy out.

But, I’m not sure the two should be compared really as they play very different roles.

Ramsey is far more defensive imho,…

  73. tsgh says:

    Morning all,

Happy Birthday Lee… hope you and your family have a good one!

you are going to fall out with Adam by posting those stats. 🙂

  74. Wavy says:

So dope smoker Henry says will NEVER, NEVER SELL TO ARSENAL, WHY WOULD WE SELL TO OUR CL RIVALS? Well well well whatever next?
What will they do with Suarez? Stick him in the stiffs? Leave him to fester. Not I suspect a good business move. Will he ever play for them again? Probably not. Will he ever play for Arsenal? No, probably not. Will he ever play for unReal? No, probably not. So what will become of him? – time will tell! But it’s not looking good for either us or Suarez.

Rico. I do wonder if it would shift the position and I have to say that Liverpool are looking even more foolish as time goes on. I also reckon the Rodgers will be gone soon. Surely a contract is an agreement between 2 parties. When one of those wants to terminate that, for whatever reason, the other should come to an arrangement so this can happen. Liverpool want to keep a player who quite plainly does not want to be there. The man with the ironed head wants to flex his muscles in the PL and show that he doesn’t care a damn what his player wants. I assume he will be quite happy to allow a disinterested Suarez mope around for another 3 years in attempt to make himself look strong. All this really does it make him look weak to me. Weak, petty and rather pathetic. It will also be noted by other players. In effect he is saying to Suarez, ” I am prepared to destroy your career rather than sell you”.
I do not say that Liverpool should be happy about it but they should surely make the best of their end of the contract, double their money and move on, just like Arsenal and their fans have had to do so many times. I find something immoral in Liverpool’s stance and cannot imagine that any player would go there again without a ratified, cast iron buy-out clause. In fact I see a time soon when these clauses will be almost mandatory.
Wenger has to move on quickly now. Liverpool’s stance seems more concerned with compromising Arsenal than planning for their own future.

A resounding 4-0 away win for over Everton takes Arsenal ladies to their 3rd straight Continental Cup final. Congrats

What Liverpool are actually saying is that any offer from outside of the premier would be acceptable. even if it were lower, expect a lower bid then we’ll know whether they would accept it i suspect no, and then his ours. Morning all

I have been reading about how the void of our outgoings looks to be ready for filling, Trial players may be offered contracts, and there cheap (sound familia)

  79. Wavy says:

Sp1: you are right, suarez will go the dippers cannot keep him after his outbursts, mind you Tevez did the same and stayed so……? But I do think that if another club from Europe came on for him, made a cheeky little 20m bid, he would be sold. Not to us though i think that is clear.
AW must move on and find another ‘fox in the box’ asap! I did hear that Jeffers was loking for a new challenge!

    Morning all.
The comparison of Aaron and Cesc is a little silly….they play different games in different positions.
