Exciting Transfer confirmed by Gazidis & Van Persie on the brink….

Not a lot of news to report today, other than the BBC have picked up on the Giroud story and suggest his signing will be announced soon, well let’s hope so but until we see something on afc.com, it’s just another rumour.

Robin van Persie and is Dutch International team-mates are of the brink of an early return to their respective homes, another defeat last night at the hands of Germany leaves them without a point from their opening two games. They could still make the next stage but they will have to beat Portugal and hope that Germany beat Denmark in the last round of matches.

Did Podolski play last night?

Selfishly, I hope Holland get beat by Portugal, maybe then Robin will realise that having ‘big names’ around you doesn’t always bring success, especially when you have the likes of Robben who doesn’t even pass the ball to him. Get him back to England, sort his contract out and then he can go off on a nice family holiday in the sunshine and rest.

Ivan Gazidis has done just what we all wanted, and that’s talk about our summer plans and Sky Sports report:

We added an important player in Podolski and we will have the return of Jack Wilshire this year, which will be a big boost for the team. We are also talking to people in this summer’s transfer market, I think there will be something exciting for our fans to be happy about.

We want to do business carefully. We don’t have to add many players, but we have to be very selective. The players we add must bring something to the team. That’s what Wenger is doing and he’s done a good job over the year to identify special talent. I am sure he will do it again.

So not many players being signed this summer, well we don’t need too many do we, I don’t count Podolski as the comments from Gazidis come after he was confirmed, so two more? Three? Or just one?

We’ll soon find out I’m sure, he said we will do our business early, it’s up there in black and white, so no lies, no spin, just for once, back up your comments with some action.

One thing did stand out though which differs to what Arsene Wenger has said of late and that is about Diaby, Gazidis said we will have Jack back which will give us a huge boost, but not a word on Diaby….

Is he off?

I am, that’s it for today, have a good one….

I just worked out what Ox was pulling that face for.
Hart just told him the average wage at Citeh!!

  2. devilgunner says:

And you can also bet that this is what will happen to the Shit Lane when I get the manager’s job……………

  3. rico says:

    😆 Scott… Its gone now

    Morning all,

Gazidis you star man, I just truly hope you are not messing with the fans. This ‘exciting’ player can’t be the Pod, nor can it be Giroud (who’s name i have been spelling wrong and no-one told me) as he is all over the papers so it’s got to be a goodie….

And no, i don’t mean Bill Oddie either 😉

  4. devilgunner says:

But you did manage to do so Rico. My heart still skips a beat when I read those headlines………then realise that its something else. 😆

  5. rico says:

    I’m sorry devil 😉

My glass is full to the top today, if Gazidis/Wenger is messing with us all again, then they can all take a long walk of a short pier…

Just hope Wenger backs up Gazidis words….

  6. rico says:

They will devil, Hoddle is out of work 😉

Also, I can’t see IG putting his neck on the line IF something wasn’t really being sorted, he’s been honest, not too many signings, but the right ones….

  7. devilgunner says:

It cannot be a centreforward. We already have enough of those if RVP remains and Giroud signs.

Maybe…………Badstuber, Gotze, Khedira, Schweinsteiger, Ozil, BALE, Ganso, Sakho???????

  8. devilgunner says:

Hoddle will have the same effect as Harry. It will all end up in smoke after the first year. it will be back to square one.

  9. Lee says:

Little known fact about England striker Danny Welbeck.

His father Stan is a bomb disposal expert…

  10. Lewis says:

Morning all, do you not think giroud is the ‘exciting’ new signing then rico? Do you know something we don’t?! 😉
M’Vila and giroud signed in the next week, now that would give us all the shot in the arm we need. Add in the departure of several under performing players and we are on the right track. Looks as though 2 of our loaners are doing a good job of advertising themselves!

  11. rico says:

Good, lets hope Hoddle gets it then 🙂

Can’t see Moyes taking the job, he’s fav to replace Fergie, Martinez, maybe….

  12. Mohd Isa says:

As well as getting the right players, the gunners must look into the tactical aspect. Holland lost to Denmark. Arsenal are a team playing in the same style. lots of possession with no end result i. goals. . What ever for?
If the gunners with the right players play in this manner, they will be pleasant to the eye but would get beaten. The name of the game is winning and nothing else.

  13. devilgunner says:

If he is a bomb disposal expert, than he knows how to manufacture demolition bombs.

Stan Wellbeck will be contacted regarding the assistant manager’s job.

  14. devilgunner says:

    Hiya Lee………….you ok mate???

Can you kindly clarify that comment about Greece yesterday??? I cannot work it out.

  15. Scott From Oz says:

    Devil,you’ve been gazumped.
Levy heard how my U/6’s are going and reckons I have the right credentials…..dealing with spoilt, immature brats!!!

  16. Djofils says:

I dont comment as much but i always read your blog!!! Sorry about the cap letters but i have to say YOU ARE AMAZING WITH THESE BLOGS.

back to business lol , who would be more exciting for you???

  17. devilgunner says:

you got it all wrong mate. I listed you to take care of the youth system as well. In that manner we will shake the club to the core.

  18. Adam says:

Morning Rico, Lee and all. The Dutch were truly ghastly last night. Whatever Van Bommel was doing, it didn’t work. And Robben really is the greediest player isn’t he? Even grouchy old Lawrenson noticed it. You can see why it is folly to buy a player for big money based on a tournament performance. Such a shame about ‘Arry though. Not so ‘triffic now.

  19. Scott From Oz says:

    Oh,must have misread the email,Devil.
    What’s the money like??
None of this payment into the Swiss bank account of my choice crap.

  20. devilgunner says:

Charlie has been listed as Coach driver, While Rico has been listed to take care of all the cocks around the lane seeing that she is an expert in chicken stuff. W.A.T.H will run the bars and canteen, while Goonie will take care of the female supporters section. Lee will be the PR officer.

  21. devilgunner says:

No mate……..your contract is a rolling and hopping one. In Kangaroo bank. 😆 And they will all be sent to the mud house if it has a letter box that is.

  22. devilgunner says:

And I have also suggested changing the club crest. Its better if it has a skunk instead of a cock. it blends well with the surroundings.

  23. rico says:

Morning Adam, they were dreadfully poor against what I thought to be an average display by Germany…

I won’t be sad to see them return early, its what they deserve and Rvp is more important than a Dutch success, get him back and sort his future out one way or the other and don’t lets have a long summer saga all about him….

If he is going, then sell him quickly and spend the money…

  24. devilgunner says:

Apart from jokes……..I agree with Adam. Robben is vastly over rated.

If Van Marwijck is a good honest coach he should have played Wonder Fart with Affellay and KJH from the start. Or else change the formation to 4-4-2 with RVP and KJH up front with Affellay and RVDV on the flanks with De jong and Bommel and drop Sneijder.

I like Willem their young left back. But he was horribly left exposed time and time again and his inexperience shone through, poor lad. But he will come good. imo the entire Dutch back line was crap…especially their two centrebacks.

  25. devilgunner says:

Ben arfa will be a good signing. Just hope he wont turn into another Na$ri.

    Maybe Benzema as well????

  26. Bob A says:

I said several weeks ago Robin should remember that he won 3 awards, due not only to his skill, but the team effort of his mates to give him the service, unlike the selfish Robben. If he moves to a so say bigger club then I think some of the stars there would want to showoff rather than play as a team. Also just remember one good injury free and lots of goals do not make you a super hero, except at Arsenal where you could get away with it if you have a bad season next year.

  27. rico says:

Not sure Thorny, if he was only going there because of Arry, that could change..

Be interesting to see who stays there and goes now…

  28. devilgunner says:

    Yipppppppppeeeeeeeeeee

According to France Football, French side Bastia are keen on taking Sebastien Squillaci off Arsenal’s hands. The newly promoted Ligue 1 side are thought to be talking with the player’s representatives, with Arsene Wenger more than happy for the former Sevilla man to leave the Emirates. Evian and Brest are also keeping tabs on the player’s situation.

Squillaci, who arrived ahead of the 2010/11 season for a fee thought to be around the £4 million, mark barely featured last season garnering only 9 (very costly) minutes of Premier League action as a substitute against Fulham at the Emirates.

While he was afforded more playing time in the domestic cup competitions, the former French international never looked like threatening the first choice quartet of Thomas Vermaelen, Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and Johan Djourou.

At only 31-years-old, Squillaci certainly has a few more years left in the tank. Unfortunately for him, Gooners will merely add his name to the growing list of dodgy centre-backs signed during the Wenger era alongside Pascal Cygan, Igor Stepanovs and Stathis Tavlaridis.

  29. TT says:

Dont think RvP will leave this year……where is he going to go if he wont sign for another EPL club? Spain economy is going down the swanny and the clubs there are going to collapse unless they get sugar daddy’s once the bank capital dries up. Italy will follow close behind Spain so ditto there.

  30. rico says:

Now that’s is worth toasting devil, please let him be a gonner…

Adam – I hope that Squilli news doesn’t hurt too much, be strong….

  31. Adam says:

Rico. I am stunned that we are even contemplating selling my mate The Squill. I may have to take his poster down from my Wall Of Heroes where he sits proudly next to Eddie McGoldrick and Gus Ceasar.

  32. TT says:

We dont need Willem as a LB we already have two LB that are suspect and adding an inexperienced LB to the team is not going to help at all. Go for Baines if we need to strengthen there or Vertonghen that can paly there to when we need a disciplined defense or even TV.

  33. Scott From Oz says:

    Just read that on Squllaci.
    Not one,but three….brilliant.
The mud hat has a letterbox, but no number on it.
Can I swap jobs with Wath though….may need some alcohol to put up with the new surroundings.

  34. devilgunner says:

Loved him???? Horror of horrors. His face looks like a horse!!!!!!

If you said you loved Eva Carneiro then yes I agree, but Squilly for heaven’s sake.

  35. devilgunner says:

……….yes but Blanc is not so keen to allow him to go to the toilet let alone to take it off for a day to go and sign for AFC. 😉

  36. Lee says:

Adam, always try and keep your thumb tucked tight to the side of your palm when you pass the squilster the sugar!!

  37. rico says:

Ha ha devil, hope there is some truth in that story – reminds me of Tomas Rosicky …..

    Ha ha Lee, nayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

  38. devilgunner says:

I am off for now Fine Folk.

    Will see you later today……

Come on Italy………thrash those Croats out of the orbit.

  39. rico says:

Hope he means playing in the CC, not alongside Squilli 🙂

With two months on loan at Paolo Di Canio’s Swindon last season, Daniel Boateng has a good base from which to continue his progression next term.

The 19-year-old defender may have only started two matches at the County Ground, but ultimately his experiences in the Football League should prove invaluable.

Not only that, but Daniel was also able to sample his finest moment to date – an Arsenal first-team debut. It may have been brief – just over six minutes in fact – but when the powerful centre back replaced Thomas Vermaelen late on in the Gunners’ Carling Cup victory over Bolton, a dream was fulfilled.

“As an Arsenal fan, it does not get better than that,” he admitted. “The boss told me to just play my game and I slotted in alongside Sebastien Squillaci, who I have played with in the reserves and in training, so I was familiar with his game and he with mine and it was comfortable.

“I know it was only for 10 minutes or so but it was the best experience of my football career, which has given me the desire to feel it again and again.”

Daniel often held the captain’s armband in the reserves last season, making 14 appearances for Neil Banfield’s second string. Should he continue his development, that solitary first-team appearance may well multiply.

  40. devilgunner says:

Leeeeeee……………what about that comment regarding the Greeks on yesterday’s post??

Come on man. Rico and I are curious.

    Laters my super Friends.

  41. Thorny says:

read today the the chavs are keen on Ben arfa…….Thats a bummer as I reckon we could use him and he’s one of IG’s supprises. (and im right every time)
Yeah Rico it will be interesting to see who leave spuds now….but Vertongen aint there yet and its been ages.
I hope giroud signs soon…….QPR are trying to derail the deal as they want him…could be close! (snigger)

  42. rico says:

😆 re Qpr Thorny, it will be a close run thing…

Maybe it was Arry only who wanted JV, levey threw his toys out, stamped his feet and said no….

  43. Scott From Oz says:

Well they should’ve been sent down Rico 🙂
Spurs will have 40 million after Bale goes as well.
Maybe that’s why they’ve sacked Harry…..he’s their new finance guy as theyll be flush soon!!

  44. rico says:

Should have Scott, I reckon VdV won’t hang around either and no chance they will be able to afford to keep lardy, who tbh, won’t want to stay there now as no CL…

  45. Scott From Oz says:

Vertonghen will be having massive second and third thoughts now.
Any player looking at a new club at least wants stability.
Maybe we should have a sniff around him.

  46. vernat1066 says:

Arsenal have moved to squash rumours of top players leaving, by handing Sebastian Squilliaci a bumper new deal. Ivan Gazidis went on to praise the centre half and said “we are delighted the Sebastian has signed a new deal with us, he will be like a new signing”

  47. Scott From Oz says:

Vernat,I’ve heard he’s been made skipper, given the no. 10 shirt and will be playing in the hole.
I hope this alarm never goes off…..

  48. Scott From Oz says:

I must say with the talk of possible new signings, and I’m talking those that seem to actually have legs, the talk from we fans of keeping our champion little mate Yossi has gone by the wayside.
I know he was on loan, and I know he’s no spring chicken, but he gave us is all,and whatever happens,I hope he ends up at a good club who try appreciate is qualities and efforts.
He strikes me as a guy would be a decent coach/manager one day.

  49. Scott From Oz says:

Breaking news,Spurs have offered a 30 million fee and 150,000 a week for Squllaci to be player manager.
    Vernat you bastard,you’ve jinxed us!!!

  50. ogban says:

Join you to be selfish and wish for an early Dutch exit. Then RVP would know that playing for Arsenal and scoring goals is not the same as playing for any other team. Ask the Adebayors of this world.

  51. NashuaGunners says:

Morning all people of this fine blog. On a serious note, is it a good idea for AW to use three left footers up front? Podi RVP and Giroud.

  52. vernat1066 says:

Ah Scott they have fallen for my cunning plan.. the fifth column has arrived at the lane but don’t worry he he has promised faithfully to keep wearing his Scott is God Arsenal boxers

  53. emeka says:

That greedy bloke called robben is a gandalfite….his mantra is THOU SHALT NOT PASS!!!!….I think th dutch will be going home soon…I also think our team is gonna be hot next season….me is lickin me lips!!!lol… COYG!!!

  54. Merlin96 says:

    Afternoon all.

You trust that slimy and bald snake-oil salesman where he announced a few months back that Van Persie will not be for sale at any price?

Now, a complete U-turn in recent days as in if Van Persie wanted to leave, Arsenal FC will not get in his way?

    Money talks, bullshit walks.

Arsene Wenger’s stand is always after that Reyes Saga:
    “My door is always open.
I will not keep any player who does not want to play for Arsenal.”

You cna see that Wenger is always consistent with this policy as cna be seen from the sales of Anelka, Vieira, Reyes, Henry, Hleb, Kolo, Adebayor, Gilberto, Nasri, Cesc..and this summer Denilson, Vela, Bendtner, Van Persie, Walcott and Song?

  55. vernat1066 says:

He either wants to sign or he doesn’t if there are conditions and prevarication show him the door. As long as this matter is decisively sorted by a pre determined date frankly I don’t care if Robin stays or not.

In the end we only want players in the team for whom Arsenal is the first and only choice, whilst that might be idealistic and perhaps unattainable it should be the clubs aim.

All of this means that the club will have to show that they can act decisively in bringing in players and in getting rid of players as well. Lets see where the summer leads us and judge come the end of the transfer window.

  56. NashuaGunners says:

@Vernat1066, prevarication on whose part? RVP has been straight forward with his club, bring in some recognised name and let challenge for the title. He has said all are long that he loves Arsenal and don’t want to leaves. When I see the word Prevarication its only reminds me of IG and the board imho

  57. vernat1066 says:

If he wants to pick who plays for Arsenal then he can go and get his badges and come back and manage until then either sign or don’t, no more I’ll sign only if you do this or that we don’t need that at the club his job is to play not say who and how many players Arsenal sign.

I don’t doubt he loves the club but the reality is he has been fit to play an entire season once in eight years, probabilities say that he wont be fit for all of next season especially as he will be target number one for our opponents and we don’t exactly get protection for our players from the ref’s.

This is not meant to be a rant against Robin but I am tired of players trying to demand certain conditions, either you want to be with us through thick and thin or you don’t and we don’t need you.

  58. NashuaGunners says:

@Vernat1066 you have some valid points and I tend to agree with you. Eight years to wait on a player without returns is a long time. But all the same, the guy seeing some of his teammates leaves who are promissing and understanting each other must be really hard, especially when you have to work with those under par or not to the challenge. And most of all when you have to lose games that you’re not suppose to lose.

  59. stevepalmer1 says:

Afternoon all nice one Rico, you had me going for a little while cheeky minx 🙂 Looks like Arry has worn his welcome out down the road, at least it will give him a bit of time to take that rich dog out for walks now, funny how he always likes to walk past the bank and leave a deposit.
    Any other news worth hearing

  60. Merlin96 says:

    Agreed Vernat.
I had it up to my cheek on those perennial “Summer of Discontents” where we are a feeder club with disloyal players starting with Anelka.

We should had learned that lesson from Nasri-Cesc Saga last summer and everyone of the Management should declare “NEVER AGAIN!”

My one and onyl wish for thsi summer si really not how many players we are going to buy or how many deadwoods are culled from the squad or Wenegr f**ked off back to France…..but a peaceful summer with players happy to play for Arsenal FC, a fully fit squad having a full pre-season training..

  61. Lee says:

Apparently it’s over a bonus for getting them a CL spot, but because the chavs won it levy is knocking him…..well allegedly that is!?!?

  62. Merlin96 says:

“Arsenal Transfer News: Wenger Targets £13m Dzagoev……”

Now, this is well wihtin Wenger’s price range of “value for money”; and certianly a bargain in contrast to those £30m+ rated Hazard or Gotze or Javier or Eriksen.

Perhaps the key for Dzagoev in joining us is to retain Arshavin to help him settling down at Arsenal.

ANother strange rumor is that Huntelaar, with a £17m releae clause, is alos well within Wenger’s price range.
I wouldn’t mind him as a replacement for Van Persie with a strikeforce of Poldolski, Giroud and Huntelaar instead of those dross we are having in the squad.

Then, we can really have a strong squad as in:

    ………………………………..Szczesny

    …Yennaris……Mertesacker……Koscielny……Gibbs

    ………………….Song………………………Arteta
    ……………………………….Dzagoev

    …OX……………………….Huntelaar………….Poldolski

With Giroud, Rosicky, Vermaelen, Walcott, Gervinho, Arshavin, Joel Campbell, Benik Afobe, Aneke, Coquelin, et al on the bench…..

And bye bye to Van Persie, Walcott, Denilson, Bendtner, Vela, Squillaci,

And Wilshere, Sagna, still recoverign from their long-term injury….

    Ramsey?
    I don’t rate him.

    Ryo?
Open verdict as he didn’t make such an impact like Wilshere did at Bolton.
I hate to say it…but I can’t see any Korean and Japanese players can make it at Arsenal FC, playing our high-tempo quick-passing game where you need to hold the ball with a hard-charging English defender hacking you or body-chekcing you…and why Walcott is still such a failure at Arsenal..perhap he is chickena dn skip out of every 50:50 ball?

I see Walcott will be more successful elsewhere with any premeirship teams that play direct football isntea dof our intricate passing game at high tempo which demand technique and skill that Walcott does not possess.

  63. Merlin96 says:

Lee, I think it is more than a 4th spot.

I think Levy and Lewis got fed-up of Redknapp not displaying loyalty to Tiny Totts durng those days of ENgland Job Saga.

Redknapp did not even issued out any outright declaration that he is not interested in England job.

Of course, we all don’t know what was Redknapp demanding for a 4-year deal.

But the key point is that Levya dn Lewis were ready to offer Redknapp a 12-month rolling contract to prove himself one more time…but Redknapp refused.
Perhaps fearing that Tiny Totts is on the slide and can never emulate 2011/12 feat as both Liverpool and Chelski are strengthening their team with Tiny Totts haivng no more dosh to buy new players to compete with Liverpool and CHelski for the coveted 4th spot…never mind challenging Arsenal for teh 3rd spot.

  64. rico says:

Yes I do Merlin, didn’t AW admit it was a tough decision but he had to let Cesc go…

As for nasri, no way would AW let the club miss out on the kind of money we got for him….

  65. vernat1066 says:

I think that we should give Walcott his new contract, and the reasons why are as follows.

One with three years left on his contract and having scored between 10-15 goals and the same amount of assists he is worth more than at the moment.

Two going into the season with the front three having no experience of the league would be foolhardy.

Three it would be a chance to play to his strengths that is pace, with the right player in the creative role I think he could have a better season than this year.

Four, the assumption of bringing in new players is that they will improve the team, however not every new player succeeds especially in the first year, Walcott would provide some continuity in the squad.

  66. Merlin96 says:

“We are also talking to people in this summer’s transfer market, I think there will be something exciting for our fans to be happy about.

“We want to do business carefully. We don’t have to add many players, but we have to be very selective. The players we add must bring something to the team…..”

Meaning: Wenger is still sniffing around for bargains and BOsman such as Squillaci, SIlvestre, Bischoff and CHamakh..and of course the likes of Park CY to sell shirts.

“That’s what Wenger is doing and he’s done a good job over the year to identify special talent. I am sure he will do it again.”

Meaning: Wenger is given a free hand to recruit more 15- and 16-year old in the hope of unearthing gems like “ANelka” and “Fabregas” such that we can sell them off to Barca or Real for 30+ mil profit.

Yup, sure IG, “we want to do business carefully…”

  67. Lee says:

Rico, but why did AW come out with the “If we sell na$ri & cesc we will be a small club” spiel (well along those lines….)

  68. Merlin96 says:

Vernant, the key lies in whetehr Walcott is demanding 100,000 pw to sign that new contract extension.

With the new Sky SPorts’ 3-billion deal over 3 seasons from 2013/14, you can bet yoru bottom dollars that all football agents are now eyeing a massive salary increase for their clients at the last year of their contract.

Now, even that 130,000 pw week offer to Van Persie looks decidedly low.
All Van Persie got to do is to refuse to sign the new contract, refuse to sign for any team and wait for Jan 2013 to negotiate for a 200,000 pw deal when that new Sky Sport Deal kicks in for 2013/14 season.

“Never says never” as both CHelski and ABu Dhabi City cna now afford to pay Van Persie 250,000pw with that new Sky SPort 3-billion Deal…..which doubles that of existing TV deal.

  69. Merlin96 says:

Yes, Lee, it shows what kind of a hypocritical snake-oil salesman Wenger is..like “promising..”we will win a piece fo silverware within 2 years”…..so close being true in 2011 CC Cup FInal.

  70. NashuaGunners says:

I do believe it was over AW hands when it comes to Na$ri and Cesc. The Board wouldn’t allowed to happen what had happened in the past to Flamini. It was a lesson learnt. AW was adamant to see both his apples go but Silence Stan and the Board have to step in.

  71. rico says:

Totally agree there, why say anything, but then he has done that again this season with Rvp, not even a mention of Theo though…

But, we all know, if Juve, barca or real come in with an offer of £20M ish, he’ll be sold, unless he signs a new contract of course…

NG – Cesc was definately down to AW, he admitted it…

  72. NashuaGunners says:

“why keep a player who is not happy at Arsenal” said AW. With Cesc it became a point that he refused to play and Arsenal have no other choice but to let him go, said IG.

  73. vernat1066 says:

If Walcott is asking for 100,000 and he is on say 60 now then that is 2 million for a year , give him that contract then if no more production off load him from a position of strength not with one year left on his existing deal

  74. rico says:

Don’t think he is asking for that much vernat, £80K i read and if we compare that to what others like Chamakh are being paid, i don’t think that is unreasonable.

  75. Charlie George aka AK says:

    Borussia M’ or Arsenal…..?
    A no brainer…
    Afternoon Rico.
Could be Giroud’s agent trying to screw us for a bit more?

  76. rico says:

Afternoon Charlie, thats what BM siad too, they said it would be tough…

Think the story came from BM….

  77. stevepalmer1 says:

Harry Rednapp is getting 3 million payout from Tottenham Hotspurs after tax he will be getting 3 millon 🙂

  78. Lee says:

Nope Will, the Giroud scenario has legs IMHO! Vertonghen now must be thinking twice, but do we want him now???
    Iniesta is mustard btw….

Back in two ticks, the little cluckers need locking up… are spain getting beat by ireland by chance…

  80. Lee says:

    Nope winning…
Will, I know you’ve been banging on about a “brutal” DM for ages but if you think how badly we did as a team without Arteta, and he’s no beast!!!!! Makes you wonder if we’d had this BDM how well we’d of done?!?!

  81. rico says:

No he is NOT Lee 😉

I think you are ahead, just been to shut the chicks up, thinking it was 10pm, and its only 9pm, Specsavers, anyone have their number 🙂

  82. stevepalmer1 says:

Spain are winning 3.0 and are playing superb but Ireland have got to be commended they are fighting for all their worth, showing great heart. Torres scores 2 and is replaced by Cesc. Ireland are being run ragged but are still battling, Cesc just scored a corker 4.0 that could slow them up a bit.

    Come on Celtic ! 🙂

  84. Scott From Oz says:

    Morning all.
We are off to the snowy mountains for the weekend.
No skiing on the agenda though.
Part of Sean’s training……..he’s 6 y.o now,so he needs to start putting in the hard yards and that includes training barefooted in the snow.
I’ve discussed with Devil a training routine based entirely around giving the kid every chance to become an Arsenal player one day.
Since it snows regularly in London, and even the hallowed turf of The Emirates isn’t totally immune to it,it’s time he started acclimatising.
The “no shoes” was just something decided to harden him up a bit,as we all know that the temperature in Oz is a little more user friendly than in England,so by taking this extra step, when he gets there, the conditions won’t come as such a shock.
We will gradually build the intensity of his training, including having more difficult hazards and factors thrown a him,as I want to give him every chance to succeed.
Too many parents want to allow their kids to enjoy themselves, well bugger that……..training is a serious business, and discipline is a major factor n becoming a professional footballer.
Training in the snow gives him a nice atmosphere,so he should be happy with that.
Oh,and if you got this far believing I’m serious….GOTCHA!!!!
Wifey organised this weekend away as Sean’s has never seen snow…

  85. Scott From Oz says:

Vernat,no exaggeration, the kid does a step over better than plenty of pros!!!!?
Did you like the post 🙂

KUALA LUMPUR: Striker Lukas Podolski is expected to feature for Arsenal in the pre-season match against Malaysia’s X1 at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil on July 24.

Podolski, who is currently with the German team in the on-going Euro 2012, was signed by the Gunners in a £11mil deal from Cologne.

Arsenal FC communications director Mark Gonnella said in a press conference yesterday that they would have a strong team for their first pre-season match against Malaysia.

“We will bring our top players as the pre-season matches are a crucial part of our preparations for the new English Premier League season,” he said.

“Podolski’s presence here, however, depends on how far Germany progress in Euro 2012.

“He needs a three-week break after the Euros before he can play for us,” said Gonnella.

The 26-year-old Podolski is a top class player who has scored 43 goals in 95 international appearances for Germany.

Asked about the status of Robin Van Persie, who was the top scorer in the EPL with 30 goals last season, Gionnelle said it is likely that the Dutch star would stay with Arsenal.

Arsenal finished third behind league champions Manchester City and Manchester United in the EPL.

Arsenal last won a trophy in 2005 when they beat Manchester United 5-4 on penalties in the FA Cup final.

This will be Arsenal’s second consecutive trip to Malaysia. They defeated a Malaysia XI 4-0 last July.

    Morning Lady.

    Morning Fine Folk.

The Irish supporters left me open mouthed.

Cant we have that at the Emirates????

  88. rico says:

Germany will be in the final i suspect, unless they meet Spain before, then they could go out so can’t see the Pod playing in that one …

  89. devilgunner says:

I got Germany to be in the final already. but Italy let me down. I also saw them as possible finalists, especially after giving Spain a good run for their money. Yesterday they had enough chances to win the game twice over.

  90. rico says:

    Morning devil,

I have Germany to win too, rather they win than Cesc and his cronies….

France though could still be a dark horse…

Shame Woy is bringing in Carroll for tonights game and the Ox misses out…

  91. devilgunner says:

The Ox can be bought in later in the game. If England go through the group they can upset a couple of apple carts along the way.

  92. rico says:

Tonight will be a tough one for them, I agree they could be another team to cause a shock or two… IF they get through 😉

  93. devilgunner says:

I would have gone with 4-2-3-1, with Gerrard behind Defoe, with Ox on the right and Young on the left, Parker plus Milner doing the defensive duties. This would allow Johnson and Cole to push up a bit. Centrebacks I would put Lescott and Jones.

  94. devilgunner says:

Defoe can tear the Swedish back four by moving around and also use his speed to unsettle the defenders. I understand the fact that Hodgson needs to go 4-4-2 but I simply do not rate Carroll that much.

  95. devilgunner says:

No Rico. The best thing that happened to the Chavs was when he was sent off. With him in the final they would have lost. And England DO NEED TO DO WITHOUT HIM.

  96. devilgunner says:

Maybe you are right Rico. Jags might be a bit more experienced and also the fact that Lescott and Jagielka used to play together might help. However Jones is slightly faster than Jagielka.

  97. rico says:

He has a few off games for the mancs though i think..

imho Gerrard and Parker won’t last the whole tournament, maybe not even Cole, which is a bit of a worry….

  98. Scott From Oz says:

    I’m chasing Snow White.
Ski bunnies everywhere, though with wife in tow,it could take some fancy footwork 🙂
