Exciting day ahead planned? What do you hope will happen before 11pm today?

Morning all.

Whichever way we fans look at it, or whoever we choose to dump the blame on, there’s no escaping the fact that Arsenal FC have become a laughing stock in the world of football.

Arsene Wenger has to shoulder the blame for all things to do with the actual game we play though, as well as the way he assembles our squad. Or rather doesn’t! He wanted a contract extension and he made sure he got it but he’s now destroying all the good he once did. Actually, he’s already destroyed it imo.

Selling one of our players to those Scouse scumbags, regardless of how good or bad he is, is a disgrace after the way they dealt with us over Suarez. Yes, the extra £1 offered above his getout clause was silly to say the least but the bottom line is, the clause was activated. We were told to do one with our offer and that’s exactly what Arsenal should have done to them with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. But the player, with just the one year left on his contract holds all the cards and it seems that he wanted only Liverpool, regardless of both us and Chelsea offering him more money.

I don’t blame him, I blame the club for letting the situation come about, just as I did with RvP and do with Alexis Sanchez. Ozil too but to be honest, I won’t miss him if he goes. I would say as long as he’s replaced but with so few hours left in this transfer window, if Wenger replaces anyone who leaves properly it would be a bloody miracle.

For the last three months, Wenger has known that losing all three of the above players was highly likely. It’s not something which is new to him but he’s done nothing, absolutely nothing to assure us that losing one, or all three is nothing to be concerned about. Yes, he’s made two good additions to the team but we were already a long way off competing with the best last season yet here we are now, looking like a club who will struggle to compete with the rest, let alone make a serious challenge for the league title. He needed to spend big but once again it looks like he’s failed.

Man City officials are reported to be in Chile, just waiting to tie up a deal for Alexis. What message will that send out if they succeed?

Losing The Ox won’t destroy this team, neither would losing who I believe is our best player by a country mile will because life goes on but way they have/will leave and the fact they’ve not been replaced with better is dreadful. No, make that disgraceful.

Had he gone into the summer with a plan, he’d have already replaced both, or all three and today he could be sat back smugly waiting for the highest bidder to make their move. He could be waiting for someone to pay good money for other players too had he signed at least one defender and a strong midfielder.

At the time of writing this post though, Wenger has just nineteen hours to convince us all that he’s had a plan all along. He’s the one waiting for this deadline day to make a big push for the players he’s wanted all summer, believing there might be a chance to snap them up a bit cheaper than he would have done had he already sold off a few players and had oodles of money burning a hole in his very deep pockets.

But I don’t think it works that way, not anymore and his short arms will still have to dig deep. Much deeper in fact because it’s only a matter of hours before he gives into City. We know it, the world of football knows it because that’s how he operates so even on the final day of this transfer window, a bargain will be almost impossible to find.

Regardless of who he signs today, or doesn’t and I think it’ll be the latter, the biggest job he has on his hands is getting the best out of who he has. That alone is a task too great for him. Had he been able to do that, he would have long before now. His days are running out, and fast.

Perhaps in a way it’s best he doesn’t manage to make two or three cracking signings today because as things go from bad to worse, they’ll have to be a day when those on the board who sleep, wake up.

And behind the first team, we have a few young players who could if managed and coached well, become very very good players and I for one would prefer a better coach and man manager to be in charge of their future.

Yes, there’s a possibility that a worse manager could replace Wenger but imo, that’s highly unlikely. I doubt even that pig Mourinho would have treated Perez the way Wenger did, not when he played as well as he did when given the odd chance. Just as he wouldn’t have continually selected players who weren’t playing well, although I suspect they would have had to work a lot harder under him and they’d certainly know what their job was. That’s not me wishing Mourinho was our manager though, not for one minute but at least the bloke seems to know what his plan is each match day. Even if his tactics sometimes bore the pants of viewers when his intention is not to lose a game and doesn’t it say something when I and probably you wish Wenger could have done at Anfield what he did last season? Or was it the one before? He didn’t appear to have any interest in winning the game but sure as heck he wasn’t going to lose either. Unimaginative yes, but a plan regardless and every now and again, it’s a good plan, especially away from home against a team the fans hate to lose against.

Anyway, here we are on deadline day. A day when Sky Sports get more and more animated as the clock ticks by. A day when Jim White is probably glad to the protection of a desk to hide behind as his excitement reaches fever pitch. A day which Arsene Wenger has just a few hours in which to convince Arsenal fans he knows what he’s doing. Lol.

Expect little from today and for the rest of the season, then you won’t be left feeling disappointed at the end of both…

I might just hit the summer sales and see if I can spot Wenger. Mind you, I’ll be in M&S and John Lewis so there’s little chance of that eh…

Finally, a bit of fun.

Great post Rico about sums it up for me.

If Arsene is not to blame for all this as some
are saying in the press to day.
Why as a human being and a so called
Arsenal fan is he not telling the fans what
    the situation is.
    I could accept the truth.

On one hand we have Gazza talking £200 mil.
On the other we Stan and the supplement stories.
So if Arsene has been told to sell. Why not say.
Because over the years we have been told
time and time again by him,how he had to
    balance the books.

  2. ArsenalDK says:

Good afternoon everyone. It looks as though we won’t be signing anyone. Why? God knows why. This will probably be the worst season of the Wenger reign. Can you name another top club that sells their best players right before deadline without having replacements ready? Seriously, out of all the players out there, only TWO could improve us? Wenger is full of it, i have no doubt about that. Europa League has hit us hard, both financially and competitively.. Sigh..

  3. gnarleygeirge9 says:

To quote another Arsenal fan John Lyndon

“Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated? Good night!” ?

  4. DB10 says:

Needed more than one choice option in vote – AW and the grocer need to go! Very worried about today – possibility of more players leaving and not one coming in. Guess my question is the same as all lovers of Arsenal. What has happened to this fabulous club? We seem to have been lied to on a grand scale, and if action isn’t taken soon I can only see heartbreak.

  5. ArsenalDK says:

Also, we have some serious deadwood in the squad that we cannot get rid of. I love Ramsey but he’s never fit for more than 20 games. Xhaka is a liability, Wilshere hasn’t got more than 10 games in him, i cannot even remember how Cazorla looks like..

  6. ScottfromOz says:

Anyone who saw the clip Kev put up that still believes Arsene is our biggest problem, well, suffice to say those with a fair mind and an ounce of intelligence who’ve seen it suddenly realise how bloody destructive Stan is to the club.
The guy needs a bullet to the head!!!!
Arsene is assisting him-whether he realises it or not-but the Yank is tearing this club apart and still, plenty of fans don’t even realise it.
    Morning all.

  7. gnarleygeorge9 says:

    rico

Top post, people like you are what’s good about the World Game, especially during circumstances like now re The Arsenal. Things will turn around, but there might need to be some ‘blood spilt’ so to speak b4 it does. Arsene Wenger is like a tick, he has dug in. To rid the Club of him, that’s where the blood will spill.

  8. rico says:

You trying to say I and others are thick Scott??

You have your views, others have theirs. Kroenke may not be the best owner, although we could have worse, Wenger is the route of all our football problems.

  9. Wavy says:

Morning all. Cloudy but bright here.

So, transfer inertia day has come round again. Got to say, we’ve had the same ol’ same ol”, yet again! Plus, this time we’ve seen and heard a bit of vitriol at the goings on at Arsenal. That’s not new but it has been different. Frankly, I believe this season or rather the end of it will see the club way down the table, towards 15th or so. Not because the players have dropped off but because the lack of leadership and direction off the field will have reached crisis point but nobody will do anything to change the rotten apples in charge.
No, no excitement for us today. At best all we can look forward to will be disappointments.

  10. Lee says:

Scott we get the Stan narrative you keep on peddling…you didn’t answer my question the other day, you just deflected it.

Do you think that another manager could of done a better job over the past 10yrs given all that Wenger has had at his disposal?

    As for doubting people’s intelligence…

  11. West Sussex gooner says:

Arsenal are rotten from top to bottom how can they have no money it beggars belief they say a fish rots from the head down sad days to be a gooner ?

  12. rico says:

‘The guy needs a bullet to the head!!!!’

If someone wrote that about Wenger Scott, you’d have a hissy fit!

    Really bad taste!

  13. frednerk says:

Breaking news…Arsenals Gazza in for Costa?

    Arsenal’s chief executive Ivan Gazdis
has been spotted in kings road.
    When questioned he said.
    Cappuccino no sugar please.

  14. Le Coq Monster says:

    Great post Rico.

Love a poll !……………………surprised Ornstein is not on it as he seems to be taking the blame for our non-existant signings ! hahaha

Cant stand Bindippers, but I`m glad Ox went to them rather than Chavs as I expect Chavs to win something more than Scouse gits and dont want him to be another who has left to win a trophy !………………………………….I`m also a rarity that although I cant stand Maureen I`d snap your hands off for him to be our manager rather than Wenger as he epitomises every thing I have always said……………..you have to be hard to beat first and foremost if you want to compete for the title !

It may be sick, but a bullet to Stans head is too quick for me, he has to suffer and it will be no surprise that I voted for him to die……..sorry……..for him gone !………………….he is the cancer of our once great club ……………….

  15. rico says:

Thanks Lc. Steady on re wishing Kroenke dead that’s a step too far…

We may not like Kroenke and Wenger and to be honest I despise both, but wishing them dead just doesn’t sit right, not on here anyway…

Spurs have agreed a deal for Llorente

  16. ScottfromOz says:

I never said garbage, rubbish or bullshit, but keep the terms you all deem unacceptable coming, and I’ll phase them out, I promise!!

  17. rico says:

Wtf you on about Scott? You always bang on about not abusing Wenger but then you think it’s ok to write that about Kroenke?

    Double standards or what?

  18. allezkev says:

    Morning Rico…

    Happy Transfer Deadline Day everyone…

    We have;

A post that kind of sums up where we are.
An owner who is focused on his LA project.
A major shareholder rumoured to be seeking a buyer for his 30% stake.
A manager who seems to be in the early stages of a mental breakdown.
    A Board riven by division.
A CEO unable to execute change.
A coaching staff seemingly intent on looking after Numero Uno.
A playing staff bereft of character, direction and fight.
A support ripped apart by the clubs inertia.

    Most worrying of all;

Where has all the money gone???

  19. ScottfromOz says:

Rico, you abuse Arsene EVERY SINGLE DAY, nearly every post, yet suddenly attack me for abusing Stan?
    My humble apologies.

  20. allezkev says:

Rico, I know that we’ve got used to disappointments connected to Arsenal, it has been that way since we moved to the Emirates and Dein left, but I cannot remember the last time, if ever, that I approached a transfer window with less enthusiasm than I do today.

Even if we signed anyone, would it really make any difference?

I don’t agree that we’re heading for a relegation battle, but a spell towards the base of the table might just force Stan to act.

Once Arsene is gone, there will finally be no deflection from our owner and we’ll see him for what he is.

  21. ScottfromOz says:

Kev, thank you for your honesty.
Seriously, you see things for what they are.
    Stan must go.
Arsene can go, but Stan must.

  22. rico says:

I share you lack of enthusiasm Kev, I really do and without sounding like a smug git, I’ve said all along that Wenger has to go first because only then will we see who the real Stan Kroenke is. If under a new manager the club remains tight then fair enough, but I believe a new manager would demand funds, unlike Wenger who is prepared to get by spending as little as he can.

But regardless, what anyone thinks of Kroenke, it’s avoiding the fact that Wenger is totally screwing things up by the way he sets us up and the fact he can’t motivate his players.

Wenger has to go first imo and go from there. If Kroenke goes and we are stuck with Wenger, nothing as far as the game played will change.

  23. Le Coq Monster says:

It wont happen, but I absolutely believe that relegation is what is needed to kick upstairs arses !……………………but come Bournemouth I will want them to win !……………..the heart always rules the head !……………..saying that I wont be surprised at all if we lose and that`s because I`ve become accustomed to disappointment with our club, it gets easier nowadays whereas when we were a force it hurt more to lose.
What a sad state of affairs that as supporters we become accustomed to our averageness, I suppose that`s how the majority of most clubs fans are only the big 3 know they are in with a shout of the title everyone else is pacified into submission of an empty nunbness and staring into blank spaces resigned to the inevitable failure……………………………..fcuk !………..whats The Samaritans number ? …………..hahaha

  24. ScottfromOz says:

Rico, after seeing Kev’s clip, do you still think there’s a chance that a new manager will demand and receive funds?
I doubt we will ever see an Arsenal manager spend what is required to truly compete while Stan is our owner.
Arsene can go and I keep saying that-most ignore that in the heat of an argument-but we are still stuck with being owned by someone who’d move us to another part of North London if finances dictated it.

  25. ScottfromOz says:

I doubt a cattle prod would wake the board up, to be honest.
If we are 18th but making money, would Stan care?
    I don’t think so.
It’s a shame Ox has left, because he’s doomed for failure at Liverpool.
Now, he’s a high priced signing who’s told the world he can play CM, but can’t.
He will be sold within 18 months to a lesser club.

  26. ScottfromOz says:

Rico, so that’s a yes to my question.
    Fair enough.
I hope we find the answer, and I truly hope you’re right.

  27. Kk says:

    Fine post Rico

I don’t really want’s wenger to waste any more money. .so I can live with the lie that we don’t have money to spend.

I have already given this season up and hopefully the change we long for happens next season

It’s bad enough that we are in this mess, the last thing we need is deviating our anger on insulting each other on blogs .

This Stan v wenger debate is really boring now and I think it’s part of the club PR spin.
They both can do one as far as I’m concerned.

  28. Wavy says:

The Ox has moved? Well, it hasn’t moved me. I’m totally underwhelmed. I’m sure he will either improve there or will help the dippers any more than he did at the Arsenal. Sadly, I don’t think he’s a great loss.

  29. DB10 says:

We all knew that – for change to happen we would hit rock bottom and things would inevitably get very nasty. That day has arrived. Every true fan has their own ideas in their head – mine is either the club have decided he is going and they are preparing by stockpiling money for the new boss – or, AW is deliberately sabotaging the club so that the new manager has an almighty task to turn it around – or, the worst case scenario, we really are skint and, unless Dangote or Usmanov step in we are truly screwed. Dark days.

  30. bumba11 says:

Afternoon all. I have been trying to bury my head in the sand and hope that something will happen for the club that is for once a positive piece of news rather than adding to the laughing stock image.

Rico, the Poll should be multiple choice, i wanted to pick a few of the options lol!

I saw somewhere earlier that apparently, those at the club are happy with our transfer business….surely that cannot be so. We got 2 players, both that i am happy with, but we have let a fair few go and we still have not addressed CM or CB! Its beyond me as to why.

And this is still with the possibility of losing Sanchez too! Urgh….pretty much sums up our club right now!

  31. Kel says:

You want Stan out… stop going through the turnstiles simple…

You may not think that’ll work we’ll it’ll fuckin hurt him were it matters most in his pocket yes the tv money is worth a fortune etc but 100m a yr via the gates is not to ignored.

The Ox will do well at liverpool he’s a good player they’re a decent team with a motivated manager and the bottom line is at this minute in time and foreseeable future they’re better than Arsenal.

I don’t care what anyone thinks but for me i hope Arsenal crash down the league, the club is lost to kroenke and wenger imo.

Crash and burn is the only way out with hopefully a new owner.

  32. DB10 says:

Young hungry players under a young hungry manager with drive and ambition – why Ox will probably be a blazing success. Watch Valencia to see what a young and ambitious manager can glean from an average set of players – their 2-2 draw at Madrid demonstrated everything we crave but don’t have.

  33. potter says:

The Ox will seem to be a great buy t o the motd masses. When he is on the ball and running he looks good however Iwill wait to hear the match going scouser commenting on him not following runners as they cut through the midfield. If Klopp can fix that they have a good buy.

  34. Lee says:

AKB’s are KOB’s now, how apt is that? The reason I bang on about Wenger is because he is fucking things up on a daily basis! Fucking clueless like his apologist supporters.

Let another manager have a crack with all the tyrant Stan affords Wenger, embrace a new manager. You never know he may actually do a better than job that the current waste of space!

  35. ScottfromOz says:

Ox will end up 40 million wasted, imo.
40 million well received, from our perspective.
He isn’t worth anywhere near that, even in today’s inflated market, as he’s too one dimensional.
Ironic that we criticise Wenger for playing players out of position, yet believe Ox will do well at a club he wants to play CM at?
He is never, ever going to make it as a CM.
As much as he won’t admit it, and we fans ignore it, he found his perfect position with us.
It may be a rare example, but Wenger got him right.

  36. Lee says:

“It’s a shame Ox has left, because he’s doomed for failure at Liverpool.”

How do you come to that conclusion? He’s moved to play in a better team managed by a better more dynamic manager and realised the FA cup is his ceiling under Wenger! Good luck to him I say…

  37. Lee says:

Klopp seems to think differently, what would he know? The price is ridiculous but that goes towards the Suarez fiasco, cheers Scousers! ?

  38. ScottfromOz says:

Rico, because it’s true, in my opinion.
If you think he has attributes to make it as a CM, I’d love to hear what they are.

  39. ArsenalDK says:

Scott you do realize that when he played at CM for us the last time, although it was a couple of years ago, he scored twice? I cannot remember him scoring twice from the flanks..
Never understood why he didn’t play there more..

  40. ArsenalDK says:

He has trickery, pace and strength and also has an eye for a pass so why would he be worse than what we already have?

  41. ScottfromOz says:

Lee, the FA cup is a dream for
    Klopp and Pep.
You rave about two guys who’ve won jack shit in England, yet criticise Wenger constantly who’s won everything available in that country.
They have each spent a fortune, won fuck all yet you critise Wenger?
    I’m Sorry if I don’t get that.

  42. rico says:

Scott, it was a statement, well, that’s how it comes across. I don’t really have to explain my views to you or anyone else. I simply said at least Klopp will try and help Ox, unlike Wenger seems to have done…

  43. ArsenalDK says:

Scott, for how long has Pep been in the EPL? For how long has Klopp been here? Since 2004, what did Wenger win? 3 FA cups, bravo.

  44. ScottfromOz says:

Arsenaldk, when was that exactly, and who was it against?
I’d also like to see some evidence of his “eye for a pass”.
    I must have missed that.
His best football for us was laylte last season, imo.

  45. rico says:

Adk, in those games Ox was great going forward but he got caught out a few times and cost us but then Wenger doesn’t instil defending into his players, Ramsey is a good example of that. Ozil too.

  46. ScottfromOz says:

Rico, you make statements all the time.
Can we call you out on them now?
If I did that, I’d be in trouble lol
Arsenaldk, you can join the Pep and Klopp worshippers, but until they win something in England, what relevance does it have in the League?

  47. ArsenalDK says:

I don’t remember who it was against, I think it was in one of the Cups. But does that really matter? If you score goals, don’t you deserve a second chance to prove your self against others also? Otherwise what’s the point. And I cannot give you video evidence of his eye for a pass, it’s just what I remember..

  48. ArsenalDK says:

I agree regarding the defensive aspect.. Do we even practice defense? Scott excuse my french but I don’t give a shit about neither Klopp nor Pep nor any other manager for that matter. I only care about us. I’m just pointing out the fact, that Wenger hasn’t won anything of relevance for 13 (!) years, and he’s still with us.. HOW? How can anyone be so untouchable?

  49. ScottfromOz says:

    A cup game?
    Seriously?
Was it the Reading game we won 7-5?
I know it wasn’t, but that kind of puts things into perspective.

  50. ScottfromOz says:

ArsenalDK, as Rico will attest to, I’ve been saying Arsene should be gone since May, 2014.
Why he’s so untouchable is a question we all have opinions on.

  51. rico says:

Against Saints in the FA Cup I think Adk..

City have made another straight cash offer for Alexis. Arsenal won’t sell unless a player is involved in the deal as it’s too late for Wenger to buy. That’s according to SS’s.

It’s not like Wenger hasn’t had enough time to line someone up eh.. What a joke..

  52. rico says:

Pls don’t check your phone for updates whilst driving, you’ll end up with more points than Arsenal..

  53. ArsenalDK says:

Anybody who can defend Wenger is absolutely deluded IMO. Again Scott, does it matter if it was Cup game, a friendly or the CL final? Why did he get so many chances out wide, but never in midfield? Walcott has shown he can score goals in both attack and out wide, but why didn’t he get more chances up front?

It was against the Saints rico, you’re right..

Wenger has had all summer, and even before that to assess the situation. What are the roles of his scouts? The assistant? Or do they have anything to say?

  54. ScottfromOz says:

Rico, we must get a player in return because Arsene has nothing else sorted.
    There is no defending that!!
We are garbage at transfers and I’m sure you won’t mind that description 🙂
    Terrible.
    Woeful.
    Disorganised……the list goes on.

  55. ArsenalDK says:

At least it seems that the Spuds are going to have an average season also..

Will Wenger go for the Europa League title? Not that we’re good enough for it but…

  56. ScottfromOz says:

    Arsenaldk,
    Who is defending Wenger?
I’m saying that, imo, Ox is a great sale at 40 million as he will never get any better than he is now again, which is hardly a defence of Wenger.

  57. ArsenalDK says:

Scott i’m not blaming you and saying that you’re defending him, i’m just talking about the few gunners around who are still doing it..

I agree that 40 mill for Ox is great business, especially with such short time left of his contract..

  58. Alex says:

Good afternoon Rico and all !

Once Wenger was saying ” i do not look at their passport when i sign players ”
and the team where far better at that time.

Suddenly he start recruiting English players at an alarming rate.I am all football but when one can see the amount of money and time spent at the detriment of the team is just not an easy to understand. From .the get go all this Jenk-Feo-Ramsey -Ox -Gibbs where absolutely very mediocre players and to insist and consist with those one has killed the Arsenal way of playing and winning

The likes of Campbell or Gnabry and the current Lucas are all victims of his selection not at all bad players or worse than the English one.

My hunch is Le Prof had some sort of an agreement to become English manager one day.The Arsenal where his experiment ground to become the Engilsh manager .I really think that.
Of course all this at the detriment of the Arsenal team.

Every bit of his judgement ended up crap after crap.

Le prof he simply has to go.

  59. Bob John says:

I feel like I have pretty much dedicated my life to supporting Arsenal. Financially, emotionally, missing out on things to go to matches, relationships, jobs, etc. And even though I ditched the season ticket 3 years ago I NEVER thought I would EVER fall out of love with the club. Until now! Congratulations Kroenke, you animal slaughtering, pound shop owning, in-bred, redneck, syrup-headed b@st@rd!

  60. Alex says:

    Rico
seems is hell bent the club to offload as much as they can…….

And guess what ……no matter who and how many they offload the end result will be similar to last season as they are easily replaceable by the second fiddles.

  61. Lee says:

You rave about two guys who’ve won jack shit in England, yet criticise Wenger constantly who’s won everything available in that country.

I don’t rave I just think they both piss all over Wenger as managers, Wenger is finished! Remind me when did we come close to winning the PL or CL? Stop dining out on shit that happened over 10 years ago

You constantly stick up for Wenger and deflect the fact that he’s passed it and holding Arsenal back, I find that strange! Blaming Stan for Wenger’s shortcomings….again weird!

Would another manager do a better job than Wenger has been doing?

Would Wenger win a meaningful trophy under a hands on owner?

Do you remember Arsenal before Wenger? Well they’ll be life after him…

  62. Lee says:

Arsenal need to get rid of Wenger first and see how things are under a new manager, a DoF and implement a new power structure at the club…. if it remains the same then dig he owner out not before….

Shifting the fact that Arsenal are shit onto Stan is a massive cop out.

  63. Alex says:

    @Lee
Arsenal need to get rid of Wenger first and see how things are under a new manager, a DoF and implement a new power structure at the club…. if it remains the same then dig he owner out not before….

    In 2 years time …..m….a…y…..b…e
    i guess

  64. Meerkat says:

    Afternoon rico, other gooners.

Well, they are now saying we have offered 100 million euros for Lemar, and Monaco are softening on that deal.
Is he worth that? Or are we again clutching at straws? If he has a choice between us and L’pool, who would he fancy? Unless he is an Arsenal fan, it must surely be Kloppy.

I’m still really worried about our defence, even though it looks as though Mustafi is staying.

  65. Le Coq Monster says:

Donyel Malen has signed for PSV for an undisclosed fee !………………..we`re getting richer by the day !….yippeee !

Photo`s of Wenger in France !…………is to commentate or to do a deal ?

  66. Le Coq Monster says:

Yes Rico………….I wanted to vote for the 1st five and not the last one………………….. as I do care ! 🙂

  67. andrewh1313 says:

Find it hard to believe his price has gone up from 60 to 92 million. Or that we would increase offer from 45 to 92 in two weeks!

  68. rico says:

Had Wenger offered £90m on day one of the transfer window, I’d have thought wow, that’s ambition but because its on the last day of the season it smacks desperation. Also, he’d have not needed to offer such a vast amount on say one imo.

Talk about bad management of the highest order… Just another reason he needs to go…

  69. Le Coq Monster says:

If it was a three vote option, I would have gone with Kroenke Out……..Wenger Out……….Alexis stay……….

New manager would happen anyway if Wenger was out !……so 4 for the price of 3 ! 🙂

  70. Le Coq Monster says:

I dont get this that Alexis can leave if we get Lemar !……………………I want both and Wenger has always said Alexis will stay , even earlier in the window when he was first after Lemar, so what`s changed ?

  71. rico says:

Perez has returned to Deportivo according to reports and Monaco have accepted our offer for Lemar.

Not sure if both are true though…

  72. Lee says:

Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan is in the Sky Sports News studio.

He believes Arsenal’s fresh £92m bid for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar shows a lack of organisation at the club.“At Arsenal, they’ve got a manager who has lost his oxygen while at Liverpool they’ve got a manager who is mesmeric, that is full of beans because he’s got this energy and enthusiasm.“If they dealt with the Alexis Sanchez situation earlier in the window then they would not be bidding £90m for players that possibly aren’t worth £90m.”

Think he’s hit the nail on the head there!

  73. Meerkat says:

Yeah LC monster, Gibbs said something similar as did Wocjec szezny (spelling). All particularly thank le prof, what a surprise that is. They didn’t have to personalise their statements, but they did.

If we get Lemar, that will be bye bye to Sanchez, as they will use that money.

Agree too with Bob Johns 2.25pm post. I bet Stan is not losing any sleep over it all. He doesn’t like footie (soccer) so why would he? I bet Wenger is not sleeping well though, he must have nightmares when he does doze off. He looks ill to me, so unlike the prof we saw at the Charity Shield, he looked rejuvenated then.

  74. micko says:

rico, any idea what time Wegner will be unveiling his grand plan to us all ?

Lee, you can’t be everyone’s cup of tea otherwise you’d be a fcuking mug mate.

  75. Rick says:

    Afternoon Rico and the House
Wavy the sun is shining for us at Chelmsford but not for Slurry at the Oval.
We have beaten Zumerset by 179 runs (Porter 7-55) another step towards the title.
At the Oval some idiot has fired a crossbow arrow into the square . At the moment the ground is in lockdown with Police treating it as major incident What a bloody mad world we live in.

  76. Lee says:

The apologists thought we’d contend for the PL….

Thought Stan was withholding all the profits from player sales?

How could we bid €100m for Lemar? A player that we probably could of got a lot cheaper if we had a forward thinking manager with a plan instead of the dinosaur currently doing his best to ruin Arsenal. Maybe Wenger’s using some of the substantial wealth his accrued whilst being at Arsenal?

  77. Wavy says:

Excellent news Rick ré the Essex win. Nearly there, marvellous.
Shocking at the Oval though. How have we ended up with the world in turmoil again? When exactly will the human race realise we are supposed to civilised? Beggars belief what folk do. It’s just not a world I understand anymore. It’s beyond me.

Wenger’s problem is very simple really and he has the solution in his hands (no rude remarks!) time has caught up with him indeed it has overtaken him. He cannot do what he once could there has been a slow decline in his cognitive processes for…..the last 10 years. He reached the end game in 2014, when he got lucky winning the Cup, that is when he should have resigned but they say history never repeats itself but it did, last May! And he thought he could carry on as before, whilst knowing he wasn’t up to it. Carry on and don’t consider the side effects! He is an old man and he should just accept he cannot do the job, at any level any more. If he won’t resign, fall on his sword then Gazidis and old Chips should just up and sack the sod. Kronke can be informed some weeks after the event, he’ll not know what’s happened!! Keep the thieving rat in the dark!
So long Arsene we’ll be seeing you, but not in the dugout. That would be my way, he can take the highway!

  78. potter says:

Been driving home listening to the two radio programmes and Lemar £ 92 million , what idiot thought that one up ? We probably could have got him for £ 60 odd earlier in the window and virtually a straight swap for the sulky Chilean one. Our negotiators are about as hopeless as our Brexit team . I still reckon Sanchez will go to City and we will not get any replacement and .Wilshere will stay , Rees Nelson will be thrust forward too early and get burned out by Christmas.
The club’s a basket case of misfits and never was players.
Still there’s always Mahrez to add if he gets lost on the way to Chelsea.

  79. potter says:

Can hardly blame him , still we got a £3.8 million loan fee , all good on the bottom line.

( why has the new format forgotten my sign in details ? I have to put them in on every comment.)

  80. Hobart says:

This has to be the most disorganised transfer window we’ve ever seen.

I can’t see the point in keeping Sanchez and Ozil. We aren’t going to win anything and it’ll be a miracle if we make the top 4. It’ll be a waste of £100m.

  81. Hobart says:

And to think next year Ramsey, Giroud, Walcott, Wellbeck, Cech, Ospina, and Monreal will only have 1 year left on their deals.

Sanchez, Ozil, Cazorla, and Campbell will already be out of contract.

    Utter shambles….

  82. Wavy says:

Bring back Ke Friar and David Dein + the Bracewell Smiths and the Hill Woods! It would seem they knew more about running a football club than the current incumbents do. How on earth have we landed in this unwholly mess. This is a car crash of biblical proportions. The failure to progress seems to lie largely in the arms of’Uncle inertia’. It’s a shocker.

  83. ScottfromOz says:

    Morning all.
Lee, as you don’t have the common courtesy to address me by name, you’ll be forever known as SRB.
Well, by me, anyway 🙂 🙂
So, SRB, who have we signed??
Rico, Stan is suddenly half decent because he’s given Wenger 90 million?
I reckon if you do the math, you’ll see we’ve spent bugger all and Lemar won’t come in unless Alexis goes so it’ll be nowhere 90 million, even if it happens.
It’s more likely Alexis goes and nobody comes in, I’d say.
Another wasted TW, no matter what happens form here and that’s on Wenger…SRB, see, I just criticised Arsene, (for the 1000th time), so take note!!!!

  84. Meerkat says:

I will criticise him (Wenger) too Scott, for being complicit in this debacle. We will be in deep doodoos this season, but I still believe that getting rid of prof would make no difference, and any manager coming in to replace him will not get any money from Stan the Syrup.
Make no mistake, it is the money that makes the difference to Chavs, and the two Mancs, not brilliant management. It is buying whomever you want whenever you want..

Prof has ended this wonderful TW -£20 million in credit. He will be receiving a congratulatory email from Stan.

  85. ScottfromOz says:

Just to be clear, Arsene must go.
    He has to.
Stan must as well, in my humble opinion, though I know plenty don’t agree.
Either way, we are right royally screwed ATM.

  86. ScottfromOz says:

Meerkat, I doubt we’d win the title if we got Messi and Ronaldo ATM lol
You’re right that money talks, but a managers job is to get the best out of what he has.
    Is Wenger?
I’m sure none of us would suggest he is, but replacing him still wouldn’t mean a title, imo.
We’d need a new manager, AND to spend a fortune.
Stan won’t allow it, in my opinion.
When Arsene leaves, he will be replaced by a no name, or someone without the credentials to manage us, and a limited budget, in my opinion.

  87. Rick says:

Bad news from tonights French game.
Kossy has a very bad ankle injury which they say could keep him out for the season

  88. Meerkat says:

“Kroenke – asleep on the bridge as Arsenal drift towards the seas of irrelevance – has not the remotest comprehension of the state they are in. He is a billionaire football club proprietor for our times: physically and emotionally removed, lacking the remotest inkling of the sentiment of those supporters for whom those attachments run deep…

…And he is quite clearly unwilling to bestow some of the autonomy which might have allowed a chief executive, Ivan Gazidis, to get a grip, and call time on Arsene Wenger’s time in a way which might allow him to go gracefully.”

It looks like Stan is the one who insisted on Prof staying not Gazidis and the Board – Wenger suits his strategy. When Wenger goes lips will be unsealed.

“Kroenke, amongst other sports franchises, owns the Denver Nuggets basketball franchise, as well as the Colorado Avalanche ice hockey franchise, and even this week the local Denver Post’s sports pages were filled with testimonies to the entrepreneur’s real obsession (money) and its seeming contribution to the drift.” His son runs both teams, and they are languishing.

    http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/arsenals-majority-shareholder-stan-kroenke-more-motivated-by-money-a7619426.html

Arsenal WERE the “biggest club in Europe’s biggest and most glamorous city and yet find themselves sucked into a pit of elite mediocrity – actually content that a third or fourth place domestic finish and continental irrelevance is acceptable.”

“The Manchester clubs will tell you themselves, that it would be no contest with Arsenal in the transfer market, if the allure of the location (London) was actually matched by a level of professional competitiveness.”

    http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/arsenals-majority-shareholder-stan-kroenke-more-motivated-by-money-a7619426.html

    Let’s hope so!

  89. rico says:

Scott, your 9.22 is childish! You swerved the question Lee asked of you earlier yet now you think it’s funny to call him some stupid acronym just because you took a comment, which I hasten to add wasn’t addressed to you individually, personally..

I guess as the saying goes, if the cap fits…….

  90. Wavy says:

Isn’t Wenger in Paris giving his 70 years of experience as an expert summariser for Canal+? Where else would he be?
Of transfers away from the club. Doesn’t Wenger get a percentage of the fee paid to the club for all players, or something like that. I’m sure he gets a kick back of some sort so it’s in his interests to sell! I’ll stand corrected but I’m sure I read it somewhere a good while ago. Has anybody got any idea if I’m right?

  91. micko says:

rico, I don’t wanna lower the tone but the other day you did say you would eat your hat if Wegner was still at the club come Christmas…….think I’ll just shit in mine.

Had to laugh at the Lemar rumours earlier, apparently the Arsenal players tried to press gang him into moving to London with no joy (Kozzer, Ollie and Lacazette)

I’m beginning to think Wegner has lost his midas touch.

  92. Meerkat says:

Typical isn’t it? They are queueing up in Calais trying to jump on lorries to get to the UK, yet Mbappe and Lemar won’t come to London for a king’s ransom.

Mbappe; Off to PSG, Prof could have had him, Lemar; Staying put, prof could have had him, Van Dick; staying put, prof was in for him.
Same ol’ same ol’. Well done prof.
Still Pep didn’t get Sanchez either, so we can go on to win the league now. Win, win. But Stan won’t be happy with stubborn old Wenger, losing out on money for Sanchez. Roll on january TW;-)

  93. Lee says:

Decency from a man that wanted to put a bullet in Stan’s head? Or called travelling Arsenal pricks wasn’t it, for holding up Wenger out banners at a match? Just ignore my posts and I’ll continue to ignore your’s AC.

  94. Lee says:

Strange very very strange that no midfielder and defender not added.

Nah the Lord Wenger in his infinite wisdom thinks we are fine in those departments and so do some of his disciples!
As micko succinctly put mugs the lot of them, there was life before and there will be afterwards no need to shit yourselves….

  95. Meerkat says:

He could have looked upon it as a challenge potter;-) lol.

Christ knows how we will cope if Kos is out all season. I didn’t realise he was fit to play tonight.

    Quote of the day:

“My phone is red hot on deadline day”, Monsieur Arsene Wenger.

    Full transcript here:
    http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/641445/Arsenal-transfer-news-Arsene-Wenger-red-hot-phone
    LOL.

It’s all so horrible, unbelievable, that we don’t have anyone new, when we are so very desperate.

*Still, No problemo, Prof has an incredible (meaning unbelievable) back three of Holdem, Sackme and Unreal with Gollum and Debauchery (all internationals, once upon a time) in reserve. And Alexis is going to play out of his skin. And Jack’s to come back … like a new signing. We are gonna win the EPL title this time!*

  96. allezkev says:

The more that comes out about the Lemar deal or no deal, the more stupid Arsenal and Arsene Wenger looks…

    Everyone is laughing at Arsenal…
The best part of 90 days to get the deal done and they leave it until the last day.

    Not fit for purpose…

  97. Obi says:

It’s real telling as to how English players turned down transfer to Chelsea, I guess they found out that they can’t cut it with Conte because he doesn’t put up with crap.

Well there is always AW, your can come to Arsenal in January.

  98. Meerkat says:

Lemar wanted to go to L’pool, and their fans wanted him. They didn’t want the Ox instead. So if he doesn’t hit the ground running, it could be an unhappy stay for Ox.

  99. Wavy says:

I just can’t really see where the Ox will fit in at the dippers, at least not as a regular starter. I do think, despite Klopp’s eager enthusiasm and perhaps even his modern motivational skills the Ox will feel fairly short changed, sooner rather than later. Will the grass be greener, I doubt it. Still we’ll see?

  100. Bradster says:

So if the board bought Perez and Mustafi, surely they are also mandated to sell Sanchez and Ozil. Why would Stan “money” Kroenke give up their transfer fees?

So many injury prone players Arsenal need to rely on for the full season.

  101. Kk says:

One can only hope that the gutless board dosn’t trust wenger with money anymore, and in compromise he keeps sanchez..

Wenger dosnt care anyway. .he was apperently commentating on a French TV channel last night. .

Sanago, perez, campbell, miachy, Gabriel, debouchy, jenkinson were brought in to be 1st team players.
Add the ox, gibbo, injured cazola, we have to use some of the academy players for sure. .
    Moaning all

  102. Adam says:

Morning Rico. The general incompetence surrounding just about everything at the club these days is staggering. From what I understand, Sanchez to MC was wrapped up but the Lemar deal failure put an end to that. It’s hard to comprehend how little planning went into the whole TW but if you treat your fans (customers) with contempt then you must expect there to be consequences. I don’t know a single Arsenal fan who doesn’t want Wenger to go now and I fully expect all sorts of problems ahead.
There are a lot of people at Arsenal who are too clever by half and completely useless at running a top football club.
It’s been coming for a while and now it’s here.

  103. Adam says:

Not sure about that Rico but there has to be some sort of accountability surely. There are only a couple of openings in the calendar to improve your squad and I think most would agree that ours needed improving. The trend of gradual decline has been obvious for years and years and this latest debacle shows us a couple of things. Arsenal, under Wenger, are no longer the attraction they were and Arsene Wenger is completely washed up as a top manager. I believe he was commentating on French TV as the deals were falling apart.
The positive is that the club would still be attractive for a proper, modern manger to take over. More so now in fact as Wenger is hardly a hard act to follow anymore is he?
Football operates in cycles and we are at a very, very low ebb at the moment. The fan base is shocked and so are some of the senior people at the club. As the pressure ramps up game by game, it’s going to be a stressful time and I really cannot work out just what Wenger is still doing at Arsenal.

  104. rico says:

I agree Adam, but I do think it’s the beginning of the end for Arsene Wenger. At some stage those responsible for making the big decisions will have little choice but to make them. That’s unless they want the club to be in the bottom half of the table for the next two years…

  105. rico says:

Wenger is still at the club because Kroenke and a few want him there. Why he’d want to be there is something I can’t work out. Not when he operates the way he chooses to..

  106. Lewis says:

Shambles of a club top to bottom.

How far do we have to fall before Wenger gets the boot?! Kroenke sells up?!

I honestly feel it’s going to get a lot worse before it can get better and that is a very sad thought.

    Morning all.

  107. Adam says:

Seems to me that once you let players contracts run your strategy, you are on dangerous ground. How can a club plan in that situation?

  108. ScottfromOz says:

    Morning all.
Lee, I understand why you were offended by my stupid comment, as I’ve been equally offended when other said similar about people in the past, so to you, and anybody else who read it, I’d like to apologise.
It was a stupid comment, and obviously something I don’t really mean but it shouldn’t have been posted in the first place.

  109. Kel says:

Crash and burn let the fall continue… why we would wait until the last day to try and sort the Sanchez and lemar deals is madness it’s embarrassing.

8 goals shipped past us in 3 games and we couldn’t find any type of defensive player to help bolster us? Disgraceful management.

Tough season ahead with a squad that isn’t good enough, players who wanted to leave, with a manager who has lost it, and an owner who doesn’t seem to care.

The club doesn’t care for the fans anymore all they do is disrespect us and mug us off, let’s see how the money men feel when the gate receipts drop a million every home game, and the club finishes 8th-14th.

  110. Adam says:

Morning Kel, JM and all. I think the one thing that has become glaringly and painfully obvious is that nothing that Wenger does should really come as a surprise any more.

  111. Kel says:

He’s officially ruined his legacy Adam his refusal to sign players that are needed is unbelievable.

I’m not talking 80m players I’m talking basic defensive player’s that for yrs we’ve lacked he’s one arrogant prick imo and I can’t wait to see the back of him.

My only hope now is the fans in London get their act together and stay away it’s the only way to force change imo £££.

Now all we have to look forward to is the Alexis rumours all season as to where he’s going etc…

    Shambles of a club….

  112. Joaquim Moreira says:

    rico, I have no doubts
Leicester still waiting for Adrian…Leicester asked for another two hours to sign him up.
