Bad news for all Arsenal Fans! Wenger's 'frivolous' Giroud appeal….

Morning all,

Couple of important bits of news broke yesterday afternoon..

First up came the news that Arsenal have decided to appeal the sending off of Olivier Giroud. This ‘frivolous’ appeal is based on Giroud slipping just as he was about to make his tackle and had that not happened, he wouldn’t have gone over the top of the ball.

I actually didn’t think his tackle was that bad, no, not that tackle, I mean his challenge and when one compares it to a few that were allowed to go unpunished over the weekend, it was quite tame. Sturridge and Nasri spring to mind.

Regardless of how we all viewed that incident, no doubt the PL Appeal Panel members will have been toasting another easy dismissal last night over a bottle of finest claret. Donated of course by Old Red Nose…

They are bound to reject the appeal and with it, add another match, maybe two to the three he will already miss….

Talking of Fergie, the FA and carrying on from Adam’s post yesterday, the FA have gone and done it again. They have appointed Lardy Phil Dowd to officiate our fixture on Sunday against Manchester United.

Oh deep joy.

That man, who is living proof that not everyone looks slimmer in black, should not be officiating in the Premier League, in fact he should be let loose in any league.

However, knowing that his favourite team in England has just secured their twentieth Premier League title, may just take the pressure off of him to make sure sure the home team lose.  In fact, it may very mean that Fergie would rather we get a Champions League place ahead of Chelsea or the Toots.

Wenger and Fergie do tend to get along better these days and after all, we as a club single handledly gifted them this seasons title.

Which I suppose we all have to clap our hands and say well done to them…

That’s probably a good place to end today’s post really, knowing that £23 million in the bank meant more to our club last summer than keeping a player who no doubt would have scored 30+ goals for us this season.

Still, at least he finally has a medal……

Have a good day all…..

    Morning all…. re Sunday Mba;
Sunday Mba (born 28 November 1988[1]) is a Nigerian football player who currently plays as a central midfielder for Nigerian Premier League club Warri Wolves and the Nigeria national team.

A Nigerian international, Mba scored the winning goal in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Final, which Nigeria won 1-0 against Burkina Faso to lift their third continental trophy.

[edit] International careerHe was a member of the Nigeria B team that won the 2010 WAFU Nations Cup. He made his senior debut in the Eagles’ 0-0 tie against Angola in January 2012. He scored a brace against Liberia in his next game.[2]

He was called up to Nigeria’s 23-man squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.[3] He scored the winning goal in Nigeria’s 2-1 quarter-final win over Côte d’Ivoire. On February 10, 2013, in the final against Burkina Faso, he scored the first and only goal of the game, to hand Nigeria their third Africa Cup of Nations title.[4]

    Morning Lady.

    Good read.

I still feel that we will win come next game. With the result of 1-0 with Podolski scoring the winner.

However I do not agree about the Giroud tackle. Its not malicious or intentional but still a bad tackle.

  3. devilgunner says:

oh no. not another Afro player. They will be buggering off in January for 6 weeks. I really hate it.

  4. devilgunner says:

Gotze news was a joke. did it start on April Fools day?

    Draxler more like it then.

Then again………..it might be that AW is trying to lure Messi to the Ems.

  5. Gonnercode says:

I’m a nigerian…..i can tell u that sunday mba is a good player..buh not up to d standerd of arsenal……

  6. devilgunner says:

I never was confident about that Rico. I never saw or imagined him in my dreams in the red shirt. Not even in my wildest one.

  7. devilgunner says:

Sorry Gunnercode but even if Messi was African I still would not like him to be at AFC. The fact that they go missing for 6 weeks in the middle of the season does not stick for me. How many African players SAF has on his payroll????

  8. rico says:

Thanks Gonnercode. Don’t want him then, but not that that would stop AW…

    I’d hoped Devil… 🙁

  9. devilgunner says:

even I hope Rico. But like Hazard before him the bird flew the cuckoo’s nest long ago. We should have got him around two years ago, and Hazard around 3 years ago.

  10. Wavy says:

Confirmation from Dortmund – Gotze will go to Bayern for £32 million.
Ho hum, another pne doesn’t come!

    Morning all.

  11. devilgunner says:

I think AW will not stop from buying him like you said Rico. And maybe at 2 million at most will see AW’s legs hitting his bum while sprinting to sign him.

  12. devilgunner says:

I do not mind seeing Gotze at BM. At least we will not see him in the premiership playing against us for the Chavs, Shitty or Manure or even worse the scum.

  13. rico says:

There was a day when AW would have done just that devil….

No doubt there will be a good few more Wavy….

  14. adams says:

Wenger knows what he’s doing..surely he do.According 2fergie,AW told him b4 RVP transfer was finalized; he is a better player than you think.AW knowz he was better & still sold him to our bitter enemy…A.Madrid won,t sell Falcao to Real Madrid no matter what.Napoli won,t sell cavani to Milian…AW has totally lost it.Come sunday arsenal players, fans, staffs and AW will give the player you called traitor a guard of honour in our owe soil jst within 1year he left. Now, who is the traitor? AW? ( who cn,t hold on to his best players & has a syndrome of selling them to our bitter enemy) or RVP? (who just knew there wasn,t a future in currently existing system in arsenal & left)….i was filled with tears as i watch RVP scored 3times…& i askd, whats wrong with AW? Did truly luv this club?

  15. ozgunner10 says:

Devil – agree with your statement at 9.57 – thought exactly the same myself Wenger was never in for him at that price and we all know that so better he stays overseas

  16. rico says:

Certainly wouldn’t want to see Gotze in the PL…

And yes, £2 million will get Wenger running for joy….

IF that is the way AW is planning to behave in the summer, then I hope he packs his bag just after the final whistle at Qpr….

  17. adam says:

Morning all. We will be linked with huge players up until ST deadline day which is June 1st. Wenger will be looking but will be unable to find anybody who is better than those we already have.

  18. devilgunner says:

pack his bags Rico??? easier said than done.

I think that if I had to bet a fiver on which comes first……you eating chicken and AW walking away from AFC at the end of this season I would know which one to choose. 😆

  19. ozgunner10 says:

United are partying and that might help come the weekend *fingers crossed* Fergies phone call to Arsene certainly seemed to have defrosted their relationship. Has to be a first i would have thought that phone call i guess it went something like “I am taking him regardless so give me your price”

  20. devilgunner says:

I think (hope also) that AW will get Cesar on a free from QPR. Remy also at 7 million. Williams from Swansea. a couple of youngsters (maybe Draxler) and one or two freebies.

but forget about 70 million. I do not think more than 24 million at best.

  21. saheed says:

year in year out we ‘talk’ on blogs..approaching 9years n we still here talking….the fans in london need to stage a serious protest..I mean the camp-for-3days outside the stadium kind protest (people do stuff like dt for silly iphones, so it shudnt be hard)..We pay the higest for tickets and still get nothing! It has to stop..10YEARS OF MEDIOCRITY APPROACHING

  22. Bradster says:

I heard Fergie wants the 96 points for the season record. So that means no letting up against us.

Why wouldn’t Fergie be friendly to Wenger? We are no longer a rival and willing to sell a world class striker and Fergie has had our team figured out for a while now. Doubt it’ll be like Everton tactics but pretty dirty still I’m sure.

  23. devilgunner says:

maybe a win apiece was inserted in the contractual statements…..especially if AW has a chance of finishing nearer Shitty or over them if they stumble now. Remember….only five points between us now.

  24. devilgunner says:

Villa has no sale on value Rico. And with a broken leg to boot I doubt it. Well not after selling Sagna who also happened tobreak his leg.

  25. emma says:

But why would bayern come out with a news like this when dortmund have a crucial CL match vs Madrid tomorrow. Why not wait until the end of the season. Bayern monopolizing the Bundesliga, buying the other teams best player so that they are not competitive enough to challenge them next season and the season after.

  26. devilgunner says:

I think Cesar would be free Rico. He is 33 years old and with QPR relegated and getting him on a free they would want his wage out to balance the books. At the most he would not cost more than 2 million.

But again…………why buy him or pay for him when AW could have got a World cup and Champions cup winner for FREEEEEEE last summer???

  27. rico says:

Just what we wanted to hear Bradster, still don’t think his side are as good as what some make out.

Did Villa put up much of a fight? I didn’t watch it…

I don’t think that would stop AW Devil, didn’t stop him signing Park, Squilli & Chamakh 😉

  28. emma says:

oz – he was the least person I expected to make the switch to Bayern. Quiet clearly there is no loyalty to the badge. I fear for Wilshere then

I bet klopp never wanted to sell just like Wenger never wanted to sell vanpursering. It must be so demoralizing for him

  29. Lawrence says:

Good read, happy for RVP, NOT. What this does show is, if you leave Arsenal you go on to win trophies. But I would not be booing him Sunday as we really do need the win.

Going of track I am gutted Gotze has signed for Bayern but you cant blame him either. It just shows why would any top class play for us when we can’t win a trophy.

Until the club changes its policy we will watch Arsenal year on year struggle to finish forth.

Hope there are some serious good players that we can hoodwink into signing for us next season, fingers crossed.

  30. rico says:

    Very true Lee

Don’t think AW expected Ches to perform quite so bad devil, and maybe he thought Mannone was going to step up…

  31. bc says:

The thing is we are in a not too different situation as last summer. Only 4 players are out of contract fabianski squillaci eastmond and arshavin. That generates just 4 spaces in the squad however coquelin will take up one of those. So similarly to last season unless we off load the likes of mannone sagna djourou santos denilson rosicky park bendtner chamakh then do not expect too much. Let’s also not forget that the following season players like wilshire jenkinson martinez miquel and a few more will be looking to come into the 25 man squad.

  32. emma says:

Goetz has being with Dortmund since he was 9yrs old, just like wilshere has with us. The million dollar question is in 1/2yrs when wilshere eventually attains a world class player status will he be tempted by the lure of money/trophies and will arsenal be able to afford to turn down big offer for him when it comes?

  33. devilgunner says:

If Jack’s fee will be astronomical to buy 2 or 3 players and pay off the mortgage/debt on the stadium that is what will happen Emma.

With AW even Messi, Xavi, Iniesta and Ronaldo will have their price.

  34. rico says:

bc – i think a few more than those will be departing. Mannone, Chamakh, Park, Santos, Frimpong and maybe more…

  35. rico says:

Welcome Saheed, once you have this protest all arranged, pop back and let us know all the details, and maybe people will join you..

  36. devilgunner says:

This summer will see the greatest upheaval AFC has ever seen since uprooting from Highbury to the EMS.

Unless some of them resign again………..in which case these things should be investigated by the FBI due to their criminal nature 😉

  37. Bradster says:

Do teams do a guard of honour for the league winners every season or is our American owner blowing smoke up his countrymen’s ass? Who decided to do it? Cos I don’t remember it in seasons gone by.

  38. ozgunner10 says:

There is no doubt if Wenger stays Jack will go in my opinion – he’s already stated the importance of trophies, it will be another sad day for us lot

  39. ozgunner10 says:

Rico – i never understood the whole park thing did you? Every time i saw him he was scoring goals and looked to have the technique, as well as passage into the Asian Shirt markets

  40. rico says:

Neither did I Oz, well, other than to sell shirts but he’s not even doing that now. Poor guy never got a chance and his international career was ruined. Feel sorry for him….

  41. Wavy says:

Of Remy, if I remember right, Wenger was offered him when he was still at Nice and he ignored him. I don’t think le Chef will have changed his opinion much in the intervening years. So, no Remy!

  42. lawrence says:

Nearly every season a guard of honour is done. We’ve done it for Manure before but at Old Trafford.
Because of psychology I would have us do one this weekend keep the Manure in a happy state of mind, we just may beat them. Upset them and we’ll probably loose.

  43. devilgunner says:

I also remember that Rico and Wavy.

But he was younger, fitness wise he seemed to be a lot injured and he also had a temper back then.

Now he has played in the EPL and when compared to the present lot it seems as if he will improve us. He is fast as well. and now he is 26 years………..approaching his peak.

  44. devilgunner says:

in four years time Gotze might win the player of the year.

in four years time Eisfeld might finish on the scrap heap.

  45. tsgh says:

    Good morning HHers,

I know its painful to watch but lets put things into perspective….

Emma at 10:13 and 10:20 am spot on… you know your football!

BVB won the title back to back with a squad that could have dominated european football. But when Bayern come calling most players jump ship…

Llorente was wanted by RM but because of his loyalty he chose to go to Juve… some believe it is because he knew he would not get games at RM…

Same as Fergie allowing Tevez to move to $hitty…

Even Dennis law moved from Utd to city and Cantona from Leeds to Man u…

The question is do man u consider us as rivals or do we consider them as rivals…

The Vpursey transfer is long gone… lets move on as hard as it is… because who ever sanctioned that move either AW or the board have no sleepless night..

Personally,it is my strongest believe that it is unfair to blame Aw for selling VP… he was the one who was touting him to PSG and Barca but no one was brave enough to invest the asking price Arsenal wanted base on his injury record.

It is the same everywhere, Athl. Madrid will sell when the cash is right… even figo left from Barca to RM when Barca could not win a tin of milk as a trophy in 2000 ..

Zidane left the old lady to join RM when Juve were about to dominate Europe…

Didn’t AC allow Pirlo to join Juve on a free transfer because he was deemed not good enough. He then went on to win player of the year and tournament and took then on an unbeaten season…

  46. Breezy says:

I must say, we could learn a thing a two from Bayern on how to conduct transfers. They identifiy a player they want and can afford and go out and buy him, no fervish speculation, no frustration, no haggling just get the player in as soon as possible. the first time you actually hear of a player joining Bayern is when its a done deal. it was the same last year with Martinez (i think), all the big clubs were linked, next thing we knew Bayern had him.

  47. ozgunner10 says:

yeah i am with Devil on this one, he’ll easily displace Giroud so it is a move forward i guess – there are some top end strikers around at the moment but doubt we’ll see any of them down our way –

  48. TT says:

25 man squat means nothing. You can have 100’s of players on you books but only 25 can be named so there is no reason we cant buy shitload of players. It however will mean that some of Wengers baby’s will no longer be in the squad and that wont happen.

  49. ozgunner10 says:

i think the only first teamer we might loose is Sagna, Wenger has individually praised every other player and confirmed they are part of his plans so don’t see anyone else leaving – he’ll spend a lot of the summer once again trying to get rid of dead wood collected no doubt, although i do think Remy is a shoe in for us

  50. Ben says:

Götze was born near Munich – just about 80 Miles away and it’s understood that he is a Bayern fan since young age.

Uli Hoeneß was all over the news the last couple of days because of a prosecution of defraudation of tax – the guy is in real big trouble! My guess (I say I’m 100 % sure) is that the news with the Götze deal was launched for distraction – Uli Hoeneß is still the main man at Bayern.

If Arsenal goes for Draxler it would be a major signing! Draxler is an amazing talent! I really love to see that guy play!

  51. tsgh says:

Bayern have always made big purchases even right after they moved stadium…

From Ribery, Neuer to Klose… Bayern have always outspent us every season…

Our biggest transfer…. before AA23 it was S.Wiltord and before that Suker and before that DB10… 20 or 30 years before it was Alan Ball at 220k, then McNab, Mclintock etc… none of them were European records…

  52. Wavy says:

I know this doesn’t mean much but, Giroud is in front of Remy when the French play and also Wenger doesn’t often reject a player one year and then go back for the same player later in his career. Well not so far as I can remember.
    Anyway we’ve got Afobe!

  53. tsgh says:

True Ben… Draxler is very good but another winger…
Where Chelsea not after him and Schurle ?

Gundogan will be a major signing though unknown to most…

What do you think of Marco Stegen as a goalie?

  54. Bradster says:

I prefer Schurle to Draxler personally. I also wish we enquired a bit harder for Benteke before he resigned with Villa. I think he would be good for us, better than Remy and PL experienced too.

  55. tsgh says:

We bid for Gotze 2 and half years ago but like Ozil and Sahin they chose to stay and leave for a bigger club than us…

Even Ozil said that Arsenal and RM had the same amount bid for him but he chose RM even though he said his dream was to play under AW in future… was the decision to go to RM based on RM’s status or the fact that he was going to be paying 50% tax in UK at that time whilsty he would pay 20% in Spain where it is also sunnier…

  56. tsgh says:

Just because the media refused to discuss our big bids such as Reina at his peak.. 4 years ago when even Bob wilson said on radio it is unfair the way AW was treated in the media…

They would rather talk about AW being tight-fisted to pay 5m for the Schwarzer than talk about a 16M bid for Reina…

It was also well over in france and L’Equipe that AW bid for M’Vila and Hazard 2 seasons ago but again the media would rather talk about how we were so desperate we bought Arteta on the cheap…

  57. tsgh says:

Esp… he is a winger who considers himself a striker…

If we bought him and put Theo and Ox on the bench the same people will say AW stunts England’s chances in competitions… can’t win… but forgot Ozyakup was sold because of JW being English even though those who watched the reserves knew Oz was far better… 😉

  58. tsgh says:

I have never heard any of those who dissed AW for buying Cpl Jenks instead of Rangel Angel own up …

Yes Santos was shocking but is Enrique better than what we have…

It is also strange that all of a sudden a lot of people want to compare FC Bayern and Arsenal… but fail to acknowledge that the current Bavarian team have been together for over 4 years with 32M purchases added almost yearly… we on the other hand have built 4 different teams in that same time at a net spend less than £10M…

So the question is will AW or the board point out who has been responsible for breaking the nucleus of the team every summer whilst pocketing peoples hard earned cash…

  59. Ben says:

@devilgunner: Gomez is crap! He sits on a huge wage bill and his technical skills are very limited (compared to other top class strikers of course). although he is always capable of scoring a goal but very bad at playing with his teammates. I hope Chelski signs him – Torres 2.0.

  60. adam says:

Players are just a part of the equation. Yes, we need better players, but we have done for years now. I think the problem lies with Kroenke’s seemingly unambitious nature and Arsene Wenger who knew that our team had no chance of winning anything before the season started. He is more interested in developing individuals than winning anything. We have AOC, who is one of the brightest young English players around. What is his best position? Does anybody know? Wenger seems to see him as a winger or is it that he likes to see players do their apprenticeships out wide before moving them into the right position so they can attract enough interest from other more ambitious clubs and then be sold on in time for a new young player to tread the same path.
We really are in a frustrating position aren’t we? The lack of success seems to have become endemic. We are owned by an American plonker, managed by a man stuck in a time-warp and yet, tantalisingly, the richest man in the country owns a massive share of the club, wants to buy the whole thing with promises of real ambition. Yet he has as much influence as I do on what is happening. Other clubs must be hoping that Usmanov never gets a sniff of ownership. I believe that, without change, Wenger will carry on doing what he has been doing for years now.
To reprise an old HH slogan – SOJI.

  61. kel says:

Saheed.. Well said m8, rico, if you agree with saheed maybe you should help? You run this blog do you not? Prefect platform imo… If Nothing Changes, Nothing will change. . .

  62. Ben says:

    @tsgh:

Draxler is just 19 years old and he is used by Schalke all over the field. He is very strong with both feet. Haven’t heard of Chelski being linked with him. Last year there were a lot of rumors about Schürrle and Chelski – Leverkusen refused a 25 Mio € offer. Schürrle had to stay. His price tag should be at the same level this summer since his contract is still running. I think Draxler would be a way better signing – he has a real good drive and a go for the goal and Schalke has always financial difficulties (but not comparable to Malaga for instance)

Gündogan is a quality player but I’m sure Dortmund won’t sell anyone out of their team now that has a long term contract. They lost their heart today and they still have a mayor issue with Lewandowski pending. His contract expires next year and he won’t sign a new on. They will have to sell him this summer or he will leave on a bosman. Familiar situation  I guess after the today’s news they will not want to sell him to Bayern – he will either go there in 2014 for free or will be sold abroad this year. Arsenal should go for him. He is by far the best striker in the Bundesliga! I guess his price tag will be around 20 million – Maybe we have a chance maybe ManU will try to sign him. I hope Arsene makes an offer for the guy.
It’s also believed that Hummels is on Barcas radar -> As I said Dortmund therefore has to many issues – they won’t sell anyone with long term contract.

Marc-André ter Stegen is a top class keeper – still very young but already with a lot of experience. With 19 he got in the goal of Borrussia Mönchengladbach as they were at the bottom of the table. They avoided relegation on the last day of the league and in the next season they finished 4th in the table. Good keeper with some difficulties with long balls. He will always want to play first team football. There are rumors that link him to Barca as well. I think Arsene should look at other keepers (Cesar) as a backup option. I still believe in Szcz 

  63. Gunnerdna says:

Bla bla bla, good players want to win trophies not play to qualify for 4th and finishing above spuds. Have a good 1 HH

  64. adam says:

Strikers. We need strikers. Top strikers. Strikers who can score when presented with a single chance. World-class strikers. Not teenage German midfielders who may or may not be good in a few years or Africans who will go missing every January and come back injured or knackered. We must buy experienced, quality players and this must include a couple of top strikers. Without those we are screwed. Again.

  65. devilgunner says:

Ben the ideal option would be Cesar and Wojchiech together and use both as first teamers.

Cesar can pass on his knowledge to Chezzer because although I believe in and like the latter I feel he has no one to show him the way to trophies and as a top class goalkeeper.

  66. tsgh says:

Then Forfana of Schalke is your man… ESp

Even Isco is more of a Joe Cole than Ribery or Pedro imho… Emma may disagree though 😉

  67. rico says:

kel – too many fans tell too many fans that they need to protest. Well my answer to that is, if fans want to protest, they do so, don’t suggest others do it for them….

    Hope that makes sense….

    Afternoon all….

  68. devilgunner says:

protest or no protest……………the club is in the grip of SK and AW. so nothing else will change.

  69. Carpe diem... says:

    Hello everyone

You need to see Draxler play, he’s the closest thing to DB10 among the new generation of stars.

Sounds like blasphemy, but its true, rarely has a bad game and when he does he still manages to make the goalkeeper earn his pay.

    Top TOP talent.

  70. devilgunner says:

Draxler I would like to see at AFC.

still young but has top talent.

but I hope AW uses him well in his right position.

  71. devilgunner says:

Sunday Mba might cost 4 million at the most!!!!!

    Draxler will cost 15 million.

    Guess who AW will get??????

Answers on a postcard addressed to the …..

    Powers that be

  72. Lee says:

I’m really over it all at the moment mate!! We’ll get the standard linked to every quality player on the planet during the summer and buy Sunday et al.Kerfuckingchin!!!!

  73. ozgunner10 says:

oh and Adam homy is short for home boy – one of our own if you like – not sure how he worked that out, trained in Holland and plays for United by there ya go mate ha!

  74. ozgunner10 says:

its nice to see proper sportsmen coming to the defence of Suarez – they are mike tyson and joe barton uummm

  75. Micko says:

Lee, it don’t matter where we finish, we’re gonna get the same ole speil from Gazidas this summer.
3rd – we’re looking at top top quality players.
4th – We’re only looking at players who can improve the squad, CL qualification is the number 1 priority.
5th – Chamakh will be like a new signing and Diaby is ahead of schedule.

  76. southyorkshiregunner says:

Whatever happenned to the player that played against us in the charity shield and tried to decapitate half of our lads …?

    He was found out.

Now Man Utd tend to go for players like Van Persie….. and get this ………………….. they win stuff ………..

  79. eastsidepaul says:

Guard of honor, classy thing to do, but yet another slap-stick pie in the face to us fans…

And yeah United will strengthen, no doubt they will?
    WIll we???!
Who else have we left to sell? Cazorla? TV5??

  80. eastsidepaul says:

    Damn right SYG.
We need big signing. Its no longer a want, but a need.
Isco would be a nice start.

  81. EastSidePaul says:

didn’t we have a bunch of ones for the future? And the last time I checked I can watch movies on my mobile phone, so its the future right now!! where are those ones???!

  82. allezkev says:

    Afternoon Gooners.

    Wonderful weather here in London.

Mba, sounds great Lee. I could sense your excitement.

Hey Adam, how ya doin Bro’.

Gotze was never coming to Arsenal. As soon as it’s in the Press, we’ve lost them. Those tight bastards won’t sign anyone of consequence.

Draxler, sounds good. He’ll be a great player, at the Etihad.

SYG, you found any good tunnels yet? I heard that there’s some good ones in Famagusta…

  83. Wavy says:

    From BBC Sport:

    FOOTBALL
Here is what Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp thinks of prized midfielder Mario Gotze’s summer move to rivals Bayern Munich, which was announced today:

“[Mario] Gotze was a player [new Bayern coach Josep] Guardiola wished to sign.

“He knows he owes a lot to the club, but I know he gave a lot back as well. Gotze wanted to work with an extraordinary coach. I cannot teach the ‘Tika-taka’ ways of Guardiola.”

Wenger beware? Or Wenger prepare? Actually we may have had half a chance of getting him. The offer of tika-taka must have had a huge pull. I guess we just didn’t offer enough in time. The board are still thinking about it, because it’s a very lot of money for only one player.
We could have at least 4 black africans plus a few other colonials as well, without having to even consider selling Bentner, even!

Who am I kidding? We were never even in the hunt. And that is the real story unfurling before the supporters eyes of what is going to happen throughout the summer. Sweet f all.

  84. Gonerjoe says:

I want to say a lot of nasty horrible words about the FA but hay I am not allowed all I will say Kompany’s red card over turned. One rule for us one for the rest.

  85. rico says:

    It was, I am stunned…

Wavy, we don’t play that old way any more, our way is the crab way 😉

Gonerjoe, only the ‘c’ word is banned on here so you feel free to vent ….

  86. rico says:

Far more importantly, I bought my woofa a reduced size football this afternoon to play with in the garden. After a few spectacular dribbles along the grass, she stopped.

She’s barked at it ever since 🙂

  87. tsgh says:

Wenger never learns… he gambles when he does not need to…

Even I knew that the FA will not rescind the red card… now Sissoko will nail us on the final day when we could have done with OG12’s defensive willingness and height…

How we could do with a Wiltord…. against the rednoses…

  88. tsgh says:

Wenger is a socialist… is signing Fido being liberal enough… if he is as feisty as its owner we may have a fighting chance next season… what signing on fee are you demanding Rico… 😛

  89. tsgh says:

I have so for our sakes… if Wigan go on one of those runs starting this weekend the scums could be out by the time they face the chavs….

The chavs have to face man u too…

  90. emma says:

Not surprise by Fergie association not to overturn Girouds appeal. It’s one rule for us and another for the top sides. Lets get behind Gervinho, he is a better fit in that position than Podolski/Walcott.

    Edinson Cavani to PSG? hmmm

Draxler is a very good player but that’s not the priority for now. We’ve got bigger fishes to fry in the positions we are currently lacking(ST, DM/box-box, Goalkeeper and probably a RB if sagna leaves)

  91. rico says:

I’d agree there emma, but if he’s a good as some say, then we would be daft to lose out. We need him, AND all those positions you mention plus a CH as I am convinced TV is off…

Who is the Leeds right back we have been linked to before, I can’t recall his name but he’s 20 years old, English and signed a new contract back in Jan. No doubt just to keep his price up.

  92. tsgh says:

Yes a DM or a physical box to box player will allow jack to play as the anchor or fulcrum of the midfield at the base of the midfield 3… but that will mean that some fans have to appreciate the new player is not playing as a sitting or holding midfielder…

  93. rico says:

Bloomin heck Micko. Can’t believe I forgot to add that to the post…

    Happy St Georges Day indeed…

    Should be a public holiday…

  94. stevepalmer1 says:

Evening all, Very good post Rico, i could feel that you wrote that through gritted teeth, I know because that is exactly how i felt watching the Dutchman last night. Persie has changed, his whole demenia . Maybe seeing how United have had so many good decisions where his time with us was always of disappointment. He now see’s things from the other side of the fence. I used to really enjoy watching him play, and jump up and shout whenever he was on the ball, nowadays i feel contempt and after i watched the premier Champions win i had to turn it off and go for a walk. I thought about Wenger and why he sold our only decent striker to our bitterest rivals and only for 22 mill. i was fuming. Then i read the papers today only to see that Wenger had told Rednose that Persie was better than he could posibly imagine, and the mug sold to him. I must admit that is still grating with me and i am not a happy Bunny.

  95. emma says:

rico – Problem is he is a left winger and we’ve got several players who can play in that position. Podolski, Ox, Gervinho, Cazorla, and probably Gibbs/Monreal

  96. tsgh says:

He can play across the front 3 as AW would love to say if he signed him…

So can Serge, Eisfield, Aneke, TR07, SC19, Ox, Poldi,TW14… I have not even mentioned Akpom, Gerv…

Don’t get me wrong if we had him we will score more goals from midfield… he will make us more dangerous as he will break from deep …. something we currently lack…

On the other hand if we have 50M to spend I rather we spent it on a DM (Camacho/Capoue/Perez), another CB (Williams or James Tomkins) plus striker (Kiessling/Lewandowski)

  97. rico says:

Thanks Sp, I am still quite bitter, in fact very very bitter….

emma – I don’t think we have one true winger in our first team/squad…

  98. emma says:

stevepalmer – problem is he is neither. Just recently he started playing as a LW otherwise AMC (attacking midfield centre)

  99. rico says:

I guess I am just fed up with us signing:

‘He’s a central midfielder who can also play wide’

‘A midfielder who can also play up front’

This is why, imho, we are behind other top sides.

We need a winger, we have done for years.

We need a goal scorer, we have done for years until last season. then we sold him…

We need a tough midfielder, we have done since Gilberto/Flamoney left

How many fans end up saying, ‘lets try TV or Kos’ as DM??

Many, and that’s all because we have hit desperation imho….

This club is rich, they need to make money available and Wenger needs to spend in what we really need, not just more square pegs that he tries to make fit!

    Rant over….

  100. Adam says:

This latest Man Utd PL title is a prism through which we can view the inadequacies of our own rather sad and uninspiring club. It brings into sharp focus the crass stupidity of Wenger’s ludicrous transfer policies of recent years. We must all take time to seriously think about where Arsenal are going under this present regime. Can there be anybody who actually believes that Kroenke is what we need and I might well extend that question to include Wenger. Can he be trusted to buy the players to put us back in contention? Can he inspire a team to perform? I know what the evidence says to me.
And Giroud was never going to get the red card for that tackle overturned. If I was still playing I would be sent off every game Rico.
    My tackle was hard.

  101. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Giroud – rejected!
We looose yesterday u-21 against totts…
Goetze in Bayern is normal. Don’t forget they won much money with the CL for two consecutive years.
Cesar is not a good deal in my opinion.
And like I asked yesterday the 3 RVP goals were all offside!

  102. rico says:

Re your comment Adam – my own view is, both SK and AW going at the same time won’t happen and out of the two, I’d rather see SK gone.

Then, give AW 6 months. Not 6 months to win everything, but 6 months to show he will sign what we need, and he will be a lot more flexible on a match day than he is….

emma/Ts – I bet neither Joel Campbell or Ryo stay with us long. I actually wonder if Campbell will ever arrive….

  103. tsgh says:

Re Cesar … what happens with his long term contract in order for him to say in the UK after retirement?

That issue does not go away simply because QPR have been relegated… just a thought

  104. rico says:

We don’t know what it written in his contract Ts. A few of their players have a ‘relegation get out’ clause I read..

  105. tsgh says:

i know I have mentioned Stefan Kiessling a lot this season but he is not every one’s lips yet so I guess he is not popular… he has had more man-of-the-match awards than the likes of Ronaldo, Van Persie, Suarez and El Shaarawy, it’s hard not to count him as a cheap option… because believe it all not AW and the board or the Texan negotiator will not bid for Falcao or Cavani when the likes of Man $hitty, PSG are hovering around…

Arsenal is like the geek in American high school movie who is scared to chat to a girl because the popular base ball hunk is after her…. 😀

  106. tsgh says:

Possibly Rico… but what I am saying is that he may still want the guarantee to work and stay in the UK post retirement… as far as I am aware that has not changed and the home office’s rules on that front has not changed either…

  107. devilgunner says:

So in effect now instead of saying ….as hard as nails we can rightly say ………..as hard as Adam’s tackle. That is why he has four lasses then.

    Good evening Lady and Gentlemen

  108. Adam says:

Hi Rico. I just had to drive to Westfield as my computer keyboard failed. I needed a new one. Blimey there are some planks in the Apple shop there.
I tend to agree with you re SK and Wenger but I just feel that there is a lack of urgency, ambition and drive. Everyone at Arsenal should be as wild as hell that we began the season reasonably and then became a simpering excuse of a club. I am livid with what I am seeing.

  109. rico says:

Hi Adam. I am sick of all of them….

Ts – no way, and with Monreal and Gibbs, we don’t need the fat lardy!

  110. Adam says:

Me too Rico. Last night was a bitter pill for me and I suspect, plenty of others. We are drifting as a team and as a club and I don’t know whether to stump up another £2600 on a couple of STs or become a paraffin lamp.

  111. rico says:

They have you by the short ones Adam. If only the TW opened May 1st, then you’d know what our intention was. But I suspect it will be the same as what RvP told us all last summer….

  112. tsgh says:

At least a true Arsenal man – Aneke has picked up silverware this season…

A splendid season he has had… the question is will he or could he make the jump to become our Yaya Toure…

  113. kel says:

Adam… tough choice m8 imo i’d let them go, go have a holiday with the 2,600 🙂 tickets have been available for almost every home game this season and im sure it will be the same next season…

  114. rico says:

A lot to ask of a young un Ts…..does he play that kind of way?

Good Lee, I hope Bayern batter them….

  115. Adam says:

Kel. I am emotionally attached to the club. They are in my blood . Add to this the fact that I am very, very stupid and believe, every year, that we will buy the right players and play great, winning football and you can see that I am a sad, naive man.
Funny old game this one. I detest both teams for different reasons and my detestation knows no depths.

  116. rico says:

And everyone else wants to slap……..

Eastenders calls me, nothing like a Kat and Alfie fight to get me through a Tuesday night… 😉

Night Lee, Adam, Ak and anyone else reading, have a good evening all….

    Til tomorrow….

  117. kel says:

i totally understand Adam i really do, do whatever makes you happy m8 🙂 i to find myself dreaming of who we might buy, how we might play next season etc lol.. i suppose we all do:) unfortunately tho im convinced we will not be competing for the PL again while we are under kronke 🙁 i’d go as far to say that before any Transfers have taken place we wont finish within 10pts of next seasons PL winners..

  118. allezkev says:

Roll on August 31st, put us out of our misery…

That Heynckes 111 was quite a good bomber…

    Night Rico…

  119. agirlagunner says:

Lewis, I’ve watched Bayern a fair bit this season, and I swear, the one time I saw Neuer rattled was when we scored against them at Bayern. He looked shell-shocked by the second goal. We should have gone for the kill. 🙁 As it is, this gamble on Messi’s fitness backfired, and backfired big-time. One man team, hahahaha. Alexis is overrated; how much did this guy cost again??

  120. gnarleygeorge9 says:

4-0 to Bayern!!!! It just leaves me with an empty feeling, again, of what could have been for The Arsenal 🙁 And now, if The Club doesn’t qualify for next years CL, I will feel………………………………. You know what I mean.

  121. Lee says:

    Moaning…
All the proper teams (teams that have won something or have the ambition to win something) are getting their acts together with regards to transfer targets….what do you reckon we are we up to? Just roughly…
