Draxler rumours gather pace. Wonderful player, but his double is better…..

Morning all.

Wonderful player...
Wonderful player…

Loved him at Arsenal…

A true beast....
A true beast….

Would love him to sign for Arsenal….

I know the chances of Diego Costa signing for us during this current transfer window are slim to none but….

His double, our old boy Eduardo has said he’d love to make a return:

Of course I’d like to go back to Arsenal.

I don’t know anything about their interest, but everybody knows that when I left, everything was done in a friendly manner.

I’m still friends with Arsene Wenger and have spoken to him several times. I still have many friends that live in London too.

I want to play more ahead of the World Cup.

I’m not at all surprised that he’d love to come back to Arsenal but I’m surprised he would even consider returning to a league in which one player tried to finish his football career through a brutal tackle and a nation which lambasted him for his performance against Celtic. He really was stuck on the washing line and hung out to dry after going over in the penalty area.

What makes that time back in 2009 so much worse is watching the goings on since by certain players in the penalty area, most of which have been far worse, far more cynical, far more theatrical and many, if not most, have gone unpunished.

But, back then then UEFA jumped all over him and charged him for diving…….

Had it been a Premier League match, I dread to think what the FA might have done.

Anyway, would you welcome Eduardo back?

The Daily Star reckon we are set to activate Julian Draxlers get out clause with a big bid within the next couple of weeks….

On that note, I’ll end for the day.

Have a good one, tomorrow we are back…..

    Morning Rico.

    Draxler = Hazard

Wenger will go to Schalke with £40M and will probably come back with Chinedu Obasi and £35M in change…..

  2. kali says:

    morning Rico & all housers

seen athletico vs barca last night,Costa looks some player,
but his team looks real good too, will be tough to tempt him over to us…..we can hope though

  3. McRaymonds says:

    Morning Rico

Diego Costa wud have been the right player for us but infact, i can’t see it happening. Watched him play against Barca last night he was indeen the beast…

  4. southyorkshiregunner says:

Draxler would suit our style and is a very Wenger type player. Ozil, Podolski, Mertsacker and Serge Gnabry would be a great draw for the player. Arsenal: Vorsprung durch Technik: The new Real Madrid?

  5. kali says:

shame for Edu ,his injury derailed his life with us, if he has the mental strength to bounce back in the PL ,will be a shrewd move
he is so good in the box ….

i agree Rico re diving…..our british players they never dive, but they “buy” penalties!! double-faced press huh..

staggering how foreign players get the stick while others get the blind eye….partiality or the lack of….

  6. mog says:

rico you asked would you welcome eduardo back.
not if he car’nt get a game were he’s playing at the moment did’nt he say he wants more playing time ahead of the world cup.

  7. rico says:

I think there’s something to the Draxler story, just depends on the club and whether they will meet his value…

  8. David Fox says:

    Morning.
I’d love to see Draxler in Arsenal colours, but I can’t see it happening in this window. Costa? massive player but ditto the comment re. Draxler. Atletico are still in the CL and have a shot at La Liga. Why would they sell their top scorer at this stage? Eduardo is interesting… Diving? introduce retrospective red cards with 3 game ban and that will cure it.

  9. HenryB says:

    Morning Rico,

I saw Draxler play la couple of times ast season and although he seemed pretty good, he did not set my pulse racing and although it has nothing to do with me as to how much we spend and on whom, I would not want to blow £40m on him if it was my money. 🙂

This transfer window is just like all the rest, and I particularly remember last summer when AW said we would be ‘in the market, and early’ but as it turned out we very nearly did not buy anyone until landing Ozil out of the blue in the last few minutes of the last day.

This time might be more of the same. 🙂

  10. potter says:

I can’t see Eduardo returning unless we get to the end of the window and are stuck with a last resort and the injuries haven’t cleared. He is of course the type of forward that we have been missing, direct , clever in the box and good in the air with good timing relying on quick balls into the box both to feet and crosses. A perfect foil for Giroud or Bendtner for a last half hour surge. Whether that is enough playing time to attract him is to be seen. As I say it probably won’t happen but if we don’t get the bodies back and major deals are off until after the world cup , Who knows ?

  11. Scott from Oz says:

    Henry, Draxler is a kid.
If he were already at Arsenal, we would all be raving about him.
    Morning all.
Back to work tomorrow……where did the holidays go?

  12. rico says:

    Morning Hb..

Transfer windows for us are so boring until the last few days aren’t they, even then we often ‘fail’.. We need a striker fast….

  13. rico says:

I hope we don’t end up on the last day of this window and end up with Dudu, sounds cruel but if AW didn’t think he had it in him to cope a few years ago, then I doubt he will now….

And as someone said earlier, he’s not getting playing time with his club and he could get even less with us.

Arsenal need to be striking a deal which will move us up, not go backwards…

  14. HenryB says:

    Hi Scott,

Of course you may well be right that he is just a kid, and if we had him in our squad we would be raving about him.

I was just expressing an opinion that in the only two game I saw him play he was OK but did not make me feel he was particularly special, that’s all.

Hence my conclusion that I would not spend £40m on him.
There are an awful lot of other top class players out there, and I suppose I would prefer Diego for the money.

If Arsenal do decide to buy him however, then, like Rico. I would be delighted and hope he would become a world beater. 🙂

  15. Adam says:

Morning Rico. I haven’t seen Draxler play but instinctively know he is exactly what we need.
    Costa? Never heard of him.
Eduardo. Lovely bloke, criminally maimed by a sub-human under instruction from a Neanderthal. We can’t go back though.

  16. tsgh says:

Good read Rico and good afternoon all,

the similarities is uncanny. The photos does a great job…

Am I the only one who thought Costa was just ok last night against a very poor Barca makeshift defence?

I thought Ade Turan who was linked to us all last summer plus Koke, Miranda, F Luiz were all far better… maybe I am being harsh…

  17. potter says:

I am afraid that the Ozil signing has gone to peoples heads. I don’t think we are financially in the position to do such signings every window. With the new money coming on stream , possibly we might have another £ 30 – 40 million to spend next summer window. We have suffered through the great depression but I can’t see this club acting like Viv Nicholson and going on a non stop spending spree and buying every starlet on the horizon to prop up clubs that have not got the financial resource that we have built over a long period of austerity.

  18. AndyT says:

    Afternoon all.
I was gutted to read that the Daily Star is reporting the Draxler story. That means that it is definitely not going to happen! I don’t think there will be any major signings this window to be honest. Possibly a late loan deal but nothing major.
Berbatov coming in wouldn’t surprise me

  19. rico says:

Potter – why not, we have an awful lot of money available..

Andy, don’t worry, they are only reprinting stuff from elsewhere and adding a bit…

I hope we sign someone a lot more dynamic than Berbatov…

  20. botafoguense says:

I can’t see Costa wanting to leave Atletico, they’re showing Barca certainly has its equal this season and they have every chance of going far in the Champions League. And of course, why on earth would Atl. sell!

Anyone else watching Man City – New Castle and wondering how much Mansour is paying for these decisions? 😛

  21. tsgh says:

    Poor referee decision again…

Good point botafoguense… its become dvery suspic ious like Juve’s record.

  22. Adam says:

Something iffy happening at Newcastle this afternoon. Nice drink for the extremely camp Mike Jones methinks.
You are right Rico. We have loadsamoney.

  23. botafoguense says:

Good point Rico, I somehow forgot that detail! We know too that he’s not above making controversial decisions, i.e choosing to play for Spain in his own interests. I really couldn’t think of a better striker to bring into the premier league right now…except maybe Cavani.

  24. tsgh says:

The winner of the EPl makes only £6M more than the one who finishes 4th…

The scums made more Live TV money than us due to playing more live games…

The question for the bosses of Arsenal etc will always ask if there are any added bonuses to spending £70M on a player for an extra £10M return which is not even guaranteed…?

    1stManchester United £61.4m
    2nd Manchester City £60.2m
    3rd Chelsea £57.1m
    4th Arsenal £55.9m
    5th Tottenham £56.9m
    6th Everton £50.1m
    7th Liverpool £55.4m
    up to
    20th QPR£39.6m

  25. GunnerDNA says:

A section of the fans talking about building a team for next year, if AW don’t strengthen the squad and win this year, i think its highly unlikely he will win the PL again because City have so much money that if they win the title they will have the money to buy all the best players and will also have the reputation and prestige to get the top players. City will dominate the PL for years unless the money boys leave the club. imo

  26. botafoguense says:

New Zealand, but lived in Brazil for a couple of years and I’m a keen follower of the Brazilian League.

  27. Gonerjoe says:

A small investment into the back pockets of the refs and there lines persons would be better than buying a new player this Jan. If what I am seeing when man city and Chelsea play there matches

  28. tsgh says:

    Hiya Ng… how are you?

I won’t complain if we bought him but personally I do not see anything special quite yet imho…

I have known about DC25 for awhile and as I mentioned a few weeks back he goes through good spells and bad spells like our OG12…

He missed 4 chances last night that if OG12 had missed most will be saying he is not Arsenal material… but just my view of course.

I mentioned in December that I will like to see him score in January to confirm if he is going through a good spell or he is finally achieving his potential? Thus far 3 games no goals so…

  29. Nashuagunner says:

T’s. I’m fine. Thanks and I hope you are too. But he was very aggressive during the first half. I know you can’t deny, he has pace and he is a serious threat.

But, if we bought him how fast can he adjust, is the big question!!!!

  30. rico says:

Ts – I think everyone has known about Costa for a while…. You’d have had to have been on Mars not to 😉

  31. tsgh says:

True Ng, I think he is strong enough to adjust in due time as he is quite fast as you pointed out; but I think he suits AM more as they have less passengers than our current team as even the likes of Ade Turan works as hard as TR07 … One reason why Josuha G. is not being played often according to Simeone…

All signings are a gamble that is why maybe AW is not the best man to be buying big for us as he has too much of a holistic view of Arsenal than maybe a newly appointed new breed of manager…

Also Re. RC25 in the Copa Del rey though he was the only player who was fully ‘wintered’ up so I wonder how a trip to Stoke will be for him in February? I may be wrong of course…

    Hiya lady Rico…

  32. botafoguense says:

Haha Rico, I meant its a detail I forgot to mention 😀 Ts you were very close. And I think Costa needs this form to continue into another season to confirm he’s a world classy type. But I watched Atletico a lot last season and he was great. Went from ‘on and off’ to consistent when Falcao’s goals dried up, and since the Colombian left, has been doing a very good job with the goal burden. Even Villa looks very average next to him – albeit never having recuperated his best form after the leg break.

  33. tsgh says:

Very true Bota re Costa… from last Marcgh onward he has been a different animal both on the pitch and in terms of his discipline…

I won’t mind him on a reasonable fee but I just do ot subscribe to ‘he is guaranteed to win us the title; chant even though a socialist like myself 😉 will struggle to dispute he will be a very good signing imho.

My other concern is that more latin Americans have failed in this league than have done well; compounded by AW’s record with major buys such as Baptista (loan) and Suker I will refer someone Aw can make better imo…

  34. tsgh says:

😀 😀 Rico, Wooney does well every where especially against us… a complete big game player we would want terrorising Boateng and Dante in the CL.

  35. rico says:

Ts – if we were too sign him and he carries on his form and of course we continue to play the same way and keep on winning, I am one who thinks his goals would secure us the league…

No one player wins any club the league but players like him can sure go a long way towards it..

  36. rico says:

    Sunny Beach Ts?? 😉

Shocking eye opener to what goes on, those reps will be dead if they carry on in such a way…

  37. tsgh says:

Pellegrini on Nasri’s injury: ‘it’s very serious

Where is JM today?Rodrigo’s goal for Benfica sensational…

    J Martinez too playing well…

  38. BrainwashedKev says:

Never mind £32 million for Costa…

Put a few million into the bank account of the PGMOL and we’d win everything, even with Bendtner leading the attack…

  39. rico says:

I mentioned it the other night Adam, Sunny Beach or Bay I think it might be called is in Bulgaria and there was a programme following the goings on of the reps…

    Disgusting!

  40. rico says:

Ts, and he’d done it before a year earlier – what a twit!

Adam, when we went it was very quiet – Bulgaria has a wonderful climate and beautiful seas but I was fast asleep before their night-life began… Thank goodness…

    Such a shame really…

  41. Gunnerdna says:

How much mistake this referee have to make to stop officiating games, I can’t for the WC for some of these shit players to be embarrass.

  42. rico says:

Trust me Adam, I share that hatred towards them all!! Especially Riley, nothing but a bunch of toothless tigers…

Said before that the game needs more Sian Masseys.

  43. rico says:

No she doesn’t Adam and I think she fears no-one… I strongly suspect she’s never been invited to the ‘old boys club’….

  44. BrainwashedKev says:

Rico, there’s nothing wrong with Eastbourne, Wath goes there for a fortnight, every summer… Along with all the other pensioners… 😛

  45. rico says:

Cheeky, Halloumi & Tuna salad with a sprinkling of Bombay Mix over the top. I know how to live I’ll tell ya 😉

  46. rico says:

    I don’t think we’ll fail…

If we can’t win tomorrow, no way will we cope with the bigger pressure which will come our way….

  47. tsgh says:

With the legend TH14 back training with the squad, I wonder how long it will take for the press to put 2 and 2 together to get 5…

  48. Micko says:

Kev, Eastbourne had it’s own motor rally in the 50’s, maybe wath is re-living his old days, lets give the ole boy the benefit of doubt hey !!!

rico, Mars was scorching, who the hell is Costa ? isn’t it a bit early to be talking about doubles !

  49. Joaquim Moreira says:

    night all!
Bad scores this weekend for us
Botafoguense: the best team in Rio is Vasco da Gama
Matic will sign for Chelsea next week

  50. Micko says:

Bonjour tsgh, the first thing Terry Henry said when he came back and saw the trophy cabinet was “I see nothing has changed since I left”
Sorry mate but the old one’s are the best !

  51. Micko says:

JM, both teams will be feeling the pressure tomorrow nite, win and we go back top again, on the other side of the coin villa know a lose will drag them back into the relegation battle, I know which dressing room I’d prefer to be in.

  52. Micko says:

Lovely drink on the rocks MG, house measures go down a treat and a half, much too expensive down the rub-a-dub-dub if you know what I mean, an arm and a leg job.

  53. Scott from Oz says:

    Morning all.
Draxler rumours gathering momentum for the summer.
It is hopefully riding shotgun for negotiations of a striker 🙂

  54. HenryB says:

    Morning Rico/Guys.

Has anyone heard anymore about that Ntep story. You know the one where he sent an instagram of himself with a ticket from Garde du Nord to King’s Cross, and with a cheesy grin?

  55. Scott from Oz says:

    Adam/Lee…..off topic…..
Spent a few days roaming the wineries of our Hunter Valley last week, and came across a new distillery.
Grey Goose has a worth contender 🙂

  56. tsgh says:

How was your day back to work Scott…?

Micko, I know you are nocturnal and all but you don’t have to make it so obvious… I need my holy water next time you are around… 😛

  57. HenryB says:

That Ntep story was circulating for a while on twitter last night, allegedly from a French team mate.

It claimed he had signed for Arsenal but had then been loaned back to Rennes. That fitted in with the ‘ticket’ photo etc.

The problem is that he does not play for Rennes but for Auxerre.

I guess it must be a load of malarkey. 🙂

  58. potter says:

Personally I would give up conversations about possible transfers if the football world would address this. From The Metro ,

There are a number of things a club needs if it is going to win the league title.

Firstly, they need a good squad, one which has talent and skill as well as passion, desire, a willingness to fight for each and depth.

The club also needs money to build and pay for that squad. A manager who knows how to get the best out of that squad is also required.

Finally, it will need luck. Lots of unpredictable luck.

As Manchester City played Newcastle on Sunday it was clear that they are the side which has the luck this season.

For the fourth time this season (that I can remember) a perfectly good goal was ruled out against them for offside. No-one was interfering with play and Cheick Tiote’s goal should have stood. It would have been 1-1 and Newcastle would have had the momentum.

Against Arsenal, City had two goals against them ruled out for offside incorrectly, with at least another three instances of incorrect offsides flagged when a player was through one-on-one with their keeper. In the City game against Liverpool the same thing happened as another perfectly good goal was chalked off.

Luck. City have it in spades this season. They also have the best squad and the deepest pockets.

It hardly seems fair does it?

There are three teams realistically in the title race this season – Arsenal, Chelsea and City. I don’t know how Chelsea’s luck is going this season, they bore me too much to care.

They don’t have the squad they once had and their pockets aren’t as deep as they used to be and certainly not as deep as City’s, but they do have a manager who knows how to win, usually by smothering the opposition to death until they finally give up.

Arsenal’s luck, on the other hand, has been atrocious. Perhaps it’s paranoia, I don’t know. I don’t think so.

There is too much money in football and large amounts of money usually is the breeding ground for corruption. It doesn’t matter if you buy another player or two , if the cards are stacked in someone else’s favour , you won’t be winning.

  59. W.A.T.H says:

Did I hear someone mention Grey Goose and worthy contender…….?

Go stand in the corner young man and wash your mouth out…!

    Blasphemy….

  60. Scott from Oz says:

Potter, i already sent a pic to the FA showing cases where similar goals were allowed…one v Arsenal….to that which was ruled out yesterday.
Nothing will happen, but what the hell!

  61. rico says:

I wouldn’t have allowed that Newcastle goal yesterday, wasn’t there a player right in front of Hart in an offside position?

Mind you, I only saw it once….

  62. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, i have seen the oal a few times, and from different angles……Hart never even knew the ball was coming til too late.
He was not a chance in 1000 of stopping it regardless.

  63. rico says:

Scott – but, if a player is offside in front of him, whether he could stop it or not, surely he’s offside…

Pardew is going to be heading off into the stands for a while after his childish name calling…

  64. W.A.T.H says:

Funny how Hart only pointed at Gouffran in an offside position when the ball was firmly in the back of the net after not ever making an attempt to save it…! Another goal disallowed by oil money…..

  65. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, i have not read the law, but it was suggested the offside player had to be interfering or influencing the goal, and that definitely wasn’t the case…….though again, that was someones interpretation.
Ironically, one of the pics i sent the FA showed one ziote scoring v Arsenal and the example was exctly the same.
Excuse given…..the offside player had no influence on the goal being scored.

  66. rico says:

Oh well, I wouldn’t have given it.

    Maybe that’s why I’m not a referee 😉

    Morning Wath.

    New Post up…
