Double Defender Deal On? Frimpong Is Back & Khedira Drops Wage Demands….

Morning all.

Bit of transfer gossip:

The Express report Sami Khedira will lower his wage demands in order to secure a move to Arsenal. Real Madrid manager insists the player is going nowhere until the summer as they still hope to persuade him to stay.

Antonio Rudiger, a 21-year-old German defender who played at Borussia Dortmund during his younger days but has since moved to Stuttgart and notched up over 50 games for the senior team, has declared his love for Arsenal.

I have been following Arsenal since the days of [Thierry] Henry and [Dennis] Bergkamp, I watch videos of Arsenal all the time on YouTube and I often wear the current Alexis Sánchez shirt. My heart beats for Arsenal.

Young, German, tall at 6′ 3″ – all sounds promising doesn’t it but has anyone seen him play much? Has Arsene Wenger or his scouts I wonder because if they have and he’s good, we need him.

Another defender who has recently been linked with us is Virgil Van Dijk and he’s been quizzed about his future plans. Talking to Sky Sports he said:

Arsenal are an amazing club, a big club with a great history…..

He also admitted that it’s his ambition to play in the Premier League.

Again, is Arsene Wenger or his scouts watching this guy perform for Celtic, if not, why not? He looks big, strong and stands tall at 6′ 4″ but is he the man to come in and tighten up our central defence.

Are either of them players who are ready to put their heads where others wouldn’t dream of because that’s the kind of defender we need. We need a dominant figure at the back, an organiser,a leader. A Sol Campbell, Martin Keown, a Tony Adams!!

We aren’t strong enough, we drop like flies when the first tackle is made, roll on the floor like babies letting every opposition player know we are there for the taking. We didn’t used to be like that, in fact we were the team laying down the gauntlet from the off when we had players like Vieira, Keown, Adams etc etc – we were the team making it clear that we weren’t about to be bullied off the pitch or be rolled over and fade away.

Who now do we have on the pitch who possesses a bit of ‘attitude’? No-one!

Not only do we need that kind of player in defence, we need one, perhaps two in the centre of our midfield and until we get that, we’ll always be rolled over with ease.

One player who used to like to put the boot in, albeit Flamini style and too often ended up in a booking or sending off was Emmanuel Frimpong. I’ve not seen his rants on Twitter for a while but there’s no doubt he’s back and he’s not got too many good things to say:

Said it and will say it again we need a F***king centre-back with Laurent a bloody DMF and a bloody striker.

And before you start going down on me it’s bloody true all our players are so similar, Jack, Ramsey Arteta, Chambo, Sanchez, Ozil, all too similar.

FFS Sanchez has had a good season but no disrespect, would have been better using that to buy a centre back and a DMF bloody sick of it man.

While I disagree about Alexis, we need him but of course I agree totally regarding his other views and he’s not alone with his ‘sick of it’ feeling either. It’s tiresome as each summer and January comes and goes and still we are left wanting in defence and midfield.

I know nothing can be done about signing players now and January is a long way away but I sure hope Wenger has something planned and something big because otherwise, his top four trophy won’t be his come May.

In the meantime, he has to get more from the players he has but how he’s going to manage to do that I don’t know but unless the gaps are plugged, the players raise their game, everyone starts to gel and our football starts to click, nothing will improve…

Sunderland away tomorrow, a side who was embarrassingly thumped 8-0 by Southampton last weekend.

I bet Gus Poyet laid into them good and proper after that and they’ll be out to make amends..

Lord help us if we aren’t up for this game…..

That’s my moan over for the day…..

    Morning Rico, interesting post.

Sunderland could be a very tricky game. If they get up a head of steam with their fans behind them, Arsenal could be on the end of an embarrassing result…

If we score first then the Black Cats shaky confidence could evaporate.
But you never know what Arsenal are gonna turn up on the day.

Morning all . Little else to say once again we are in limbo just waiting. Baby sitting grandaughter today 13 months old. Thats me cream crackered for the weekend.

  3. potter says:

Thing is though Kev we dont score early .We like to toy with them for an hour before we get one of our two shots on target.

    Morning Rico
Good post as usual. We do have two players with the right attitude but sadly Flamini is too slow to even kick people now and Jack crumples in a heap everytime he makes a tackle! Think Debuchy is made of the right stuff though!

  5. Danish Gooner says:

Rudiger had his first international against poland where the germans lost 2-0 but he had a very good performance despite it being his first game. But the one WHO stood out was belarabi of Leverkusen he was a firebrand in that game and outshined several of the other superstars like mueller, goetze etc.

morning, said it all before about wilshere, good player, not yet great.still waiting, But risks too many challenges, by not releasing the ball soon enough.surely with sunderland, and burnley up next, anything less than 6 points, will prove how far we have fallen. no excuses Arsene, cant hide behind referees decisions every week.

  7. Mr Wath says:

He is indeed another shit ref but ain’t they all. How ever bad the refs are doesn’t detract from how shit we are…!

  8. dublingunner says:

exactly wath, Im kind of getting weary now of being hard done by, so are other teams.so it,s not only us that fall victim to these referees, If we are good enough, we should be winning these games. Bad decisions or not.

Morning Bob, sorry, I missed your earlier comment. Thanks..

I’d forgotten Debuchy, really like his attitude….

    Good point well made Wath….

  10. bradster says:

    Hey rico,
If it was up to me I would have Chambers at CB and Ballarin RB. Arteta and Ramsey double pivot with Campbell (Ox), Cazorla, Sanchez and Wellbeck up front.

Unfortunately I expect an injured Kos or same as against Anderlecht with Arteta coming in for wilshere.

  11. Mr Wath says:

Brad, Kos out for a month….. I’d also put Chambers in the middle with BFG and Monreal left back, Gibbs been utter toilet last few weeks and positioning non existent.

  12. bradster says:

I also think Joel Campbell could play the left sided attacker and offer more going forward and defending than we have now.

  13. rico says:

Bradster, I don’t do pivots etc… All too complicated for me.

Just mean stick him in the centre of midfield to protect the back four and let no-one past him…

  14. George says:

    Afternoon troopers,

    Chez

    Bellerin Chambers BFG Gibbs

    Arteta

    Sanchez Chamberlain Campbell
    Welbeck Podolski

    Subs:

    Martinez
    Monreal
    Cazorla
    Wilshere
    Ramsey
    Walcott
    Hayden

This will give us attacking impetus and we can slow it down after 60 mins by taking the 3 fwrds off and playing the 3 brits jw,ar and tw in a 451 if we are home n dry

    I googled Arseblog.

What a fantastic post and yes, I think most, if not all ST holders will share his thoughts and feelings.

I’m not one of them, but, if I had the money free each season to buy a season ticket and I had the time to travel without it all messing up an entire day, and if of course that season ticket was offered to me, would I buy it?

No, no way. Not until Stan Kroenke and his puppets are history……

  16. Lee says:

Morning Bt…about time this bunch of millionaires started playing as team and taking a leaf out of Sanchez’s book! Come on you Gunners! Let’s be ‘aving you!!!

  17. Adam says:

I read that article on Arseblog when I got home last night. Superb. I wish I had written it myself. If anybody in any position of authority at Arsenal read it, they should be nervous. It confirmed to me that what we are witnessing is a change in the whole structure of the club’s support. This is something we debate on here almost daily. It also suggests to me that fans will certainly take action against Kroenke in the form of protests. The battleground will be for the soul of the club, if that hasn’t been lost already.

  18. rico says:

A superb article indeed Adam, the guy writing it should be quite proud of such a piece….

I really hope someone at Arsenal has read it and absorbed every word because it’s not just an off the cuff rant….

  19. Adam says:

Hi BT. Not a lot mate. Eating scrambled egg on toast for breakfast and thinking of how many ways we can mess up today’s game. 🙂

  20. Adam says:

Rico. You have a ‘feel’ for the club and know that things are seriously wrong at the moment. But some people really don’t see it that way. The Kroenkes are absolutely and totally the wrong people for Arsenal. To me, that is clear. On the field, we are a shambles yet I read comments stating that our performance against Anderlecht showed we are champions, because getting dominated by a team and coming up with two late, late goals when you really should be 3-0 down is what champions do. What??
If nothing else, we, as supporters of a great club need to wake up. Only then will the ‘troops’ be mobilised against this creeping Americanisation that is going to strangle the life out of our history and use it only as a totem for grabbing more and more money.
Just like the rest of Kroenke’s businesses.

    Morning All

    Morning Rico, Adam, Lee, BT

Yes, that Arseblog post was quite superb, as for someone at the club reading it, well maybe a few members of staff lower down the food chain, but with the possible exception of Ivan, I doubt that the likes of Keswick, Harris and Co even know that Arseblog exists…

  22. rico says:

Adam, I couldn’t agree more but how does that message from the fans be sent to Kroenke?

That’s the million dollar question. Booing etc at the ground won’t help the players so I see little point in it, the message needs to get to the Americans and it has to be big surely….

New post has gone up so we’ll carry on there….

  23. Adam says:

Sounds delicious Rico. With your eggs as well……yummy.
BT. I think what we are seeing is either the perfect storm or the planets aligning so those that have eyes can see quite clearly now.

The dreadful plight of the team, the inactivity of our manager, the injuries and the lack of ambition have coincided with a truly horrible AGM where it was made quite plain where we are going and under the stewardship of these ghastly people. Add the money being taken for nothing, the crass insensitivity of the ST rises with the implicit promise of more to come etc etc.

    I could go on.

  24. BrainwashedKev says:

Adam, the Arsenal we knew has gone, it won’t be coming back, ever.

We are stuck with the present money-making machine, a kind of English NFL franchise, designed to siphon off an increasing amount of club funds, in the pockets of the Kroenke family, to fund their big ideas, schemes & lifestyle.

Also to fund the obscene money-grabbing players and agents who basically don’t give a shit about the game…

In the final analysis we all have to ask ourselves if we want to buy into this charade via our Sky subscription, season tickets etc etc…

It’s a choice that we don’t really want to consider, but it may be forced upon us by the loathsome people running our club and our game…
