Morning all.
Back in the good old days under Arsene Wenger, fixtures like today’s would be little to concern ourselves about. We had leaders, men, warriors. The minutes spent in the tunnel before both sides walked onto the pitch were often daunting for the opposition as they sized up the Arsenal team. Adams, Keown, Vieira, Petit, even Campbell and Toure latterly, they were enough to make any side fear us. Then of course there was the attacking players, players who could tear sides apart in a flash. Back then, each and every game we played in, I totally expected us to win and perhaps they did too. Arrogance? No, confidence! Confident because Wenger’s early teams were that good. They had height, strength and physicality. They also had pace, skill and trickery and there wasn’t too many, if any clubs which could cope with what we offered.
Fast forward and here I am today, like many no doubt, fearing the worst as Arsenal travel to Watford for an evening kick off. This Arsenal team nowadays is everything Wengers successful teams were not. No longer are we feared, in fact I’d go as far to suggest that other clubs enjoy playing us because our weaknesses are so clear to see. Yes, since the defeat at Anfield our results have improved but the performances have hardly been convincing. But that’s what happens when a manager has left his best days far behind him. No longer does he often sign players with an edge to their game and when he does it’s like he gives them a verbal does of Prozac to calm them down.
But it is what it is and it will be until changes are made. Either Wenger reverts back to being the manager he once was, the one who signed strong and physical players who didn’t accept losing was an option or he hangs up his puffa jacket and someone else comes into the frame. Boy, I can’t wait for the day the latter takes place because the chances of Wenger changing his ways are about slim as me winning the Euro lottery and I don’t even buy a ticket. Not often anyway.
Today Arsene Wenger is up against Marco Silva, a young Portuguese manager on his way up. Big things are expected of him and perhaps that’s because of where he comes from but even at his young age, I wouldn’t bet against him having his players organised for this evenings match. I bet he’s done his homework, certainly on our defence which is suspect to say the least. Even with Mustafi the unit looks vulnerable but then so would many defences when ahead of them is a spineless midfield. What would we fans give to see a Gilberto in there, or a pairing similar to that of Petit and Vieira? They’re about I’m sure, it’s just Wenger doesn’t see them, let alone sign them.
Enough moaning I hear you say whilst reading, well that’s if anyone is, it’s Watford and it’s a fixture we should be winning.
If Man City can thump them 6-0 or whatever the score was at Vicarage Road, then why can’t we?
The good news ahead of the match is that all baring Mustafi and Cazorla were trading yesterday. Yes, even Laurent Koscielny and Sead Kolasinac so there’s a good chance both will start.
Enjoy the game guys, hopefully it’ll be a good one as I doubt Silva will part the bus, not at home but he won’t make our job easy.
first?
good morning all!
Finding it very difficult to post over the last couple of days. Is it the site or is it my iPad? We’ll see.
1-1 for me against the mighty Watford!
Morning Rico. Nice post.
I fancy us 1-2.
Man City 6-2, if you love football then you’ll want Guardiola to finish above Mourinho…
rico, the City Slickers are scoring for fun this season, I’ll be happy with a clean sheet tonite, hopefully our merry bunch of traders will be up for it !!!
Afternoon Adam, guys, seems I picked a good day to go out.. ?
City score six again, I dread us going there in a couple of weeks time.
Micko, so would I But with a few Arsenal goals…
Thanks Adam.
Fancy Chelsea getting beaten by Palace. ?
Zzzzzzzzzz
I leave London with a 10 points from a possible 12 if The Arse can hold on @ Watford.
Oops Evening all, &
Also, goodbye London?
Have a good trip
How much does ozil want?!
Joker.
Safe journey home Gg…
jeez we are such a boring outfit to watch… Zzzzz.
Such a rudderless team.
Midfield is so poor.
I’d have wilshere ahead of either of out central midfield. No invention in there at all.
Still Wenger knows best…..
Wenger taking the piss out of Jack
we’ve literally been pinned in by fucking Watford for nearly the whole second half..
We are so shit.
hahahaha…. well done Watford fully deserved the only team trying to win…
Arsenal fc… is a midtable team….
Laugh or cry?
Wenger, just leave now and do us all a favour.
Night all.
Why Ozil is in the pitch?
We play with 10 and completely unbalanced!!!
It’s difficult to watch this???
Ozil and Iwoby at the same time it’s completely wrong!!!!
That’s it, I’m off The Arsenal till Wenger is gone.
Thanks all!!!
Same old arsenal taking the piss out of us.
Wenger showing yet again what a moron he is. I could set out a better bloody team than him. Totally inept.
Unbalanced the team with Ozil, he took Welbeck off tand lost the attacking depth, he was losing the midfield and did not put a player to hold the match, let Watford put players fast and believe that they could win the game !!!
AW out !!!! Joaquim Moreira in!
The bore fest continues.
More of the same dull boring crab football. I get more pleasure from watching paint dry.
‘Nuff said………for now………!
from the Owner to the manager to the team…. absolutely bang average…
i think it’s time to leave Arsenal to the Wenger boys, because that’s me done watching them under Wenger it’s boring and a complete snorefest to watch.
Once again arsene wenger demonstrated how useless he is in reading the game and use his subs and tactics accordingly. .
We were hanging on before welbeck got injured and he brings on the useless unmotivated ozil. .what a rip off player he has been. .and to add insult to injury he complented him by adding our super static unskilfull super sub that is Giroud. .
Can’t run can’t hold the ball ..he could only flick or head a ball, but hang on .our wingbacks were as useless as arsene wenger’s coat zip ..
I mean Bellerin has been bang average and liability for the last 6 months and is getting worse every game. .can’t defend can’t attack. .what he fuck’s happened to him?
Yes the penalty was very soft and a hint of offside for their second. . however you can’t ignore our pathetic finishing and lack of effort from our shit midfield in the 2nd half
Kos got injured and wilshare sent back to the bench after he was set to come on?…great. .we gave up against the mighty Watford. .
Mind you, hoping wilshare to rescue our midfield tells how desperate we have become under le Freud. .
Watching city earlier scoring 7 for fun makes you realise how low we have sunk .
Its not because they have the money. .it’s because they got it right. .wenger on the other hand had the time ,and time is money. .he had at least 10 years to assemble a better team and better football instead he wasted the money and killed the football.
Just fuck off wenger!
Top post, Rico, and straight to the heart of all that’s wrong on the pitch with us.
I didn’t see the game, but everything I’ve read is basically the same as the comments here suggest-we were shit, with little or no imagination, and a distinct lack of work rate from quite a few players.
Wenger physically can’t make a player lift his effort, but we do keep buying these players.
When you see a guy like Perez last year, or even Joel Campbell get barely any game time, yet worked their arses off when on the pitch, you have to question xactly what wenger wants in a footballer.
I said the other day English fans, IMO, rate effort over technique but that’s sent a criticism, as any side needs a balance of both.
We don’t have it.
Pep over Joe Say-Kev, that goes without saying 🙂
Surely, nobody but Utd fans would be hoping they win the Leagus.
We have a damn long season In front of us guys.
The penalty (dive) gives Wenger the perfect opportunity to deflect attention away from his substitutions…
Didn’t Bellerin want to join Barcelona last summer?
And every other decision he made!
The man’s a knob and what’s worse is that he’s absolutely passed it. And he knows it but he just can’t say goodbye now!
Just fcuk off Arsene and pick up your over large pension and let a more competent coach/manager come in and restore the glories that were Arsenal.
Kev, we should never ignore the fact we concede very soft penalties, and have finished on the wrong side of the officials ledger for years, but it doesn’t mean we can ignore the fact we’re an average football side.
It’d be different if we tore sides apart and lost due to pathetic decisions, but it’s not the case.
Wavy, everyone knows what needs to happen other than the two men who need to make the decision.
Morning Rico. There are just too many details and points to be raised about the latest debacle last night and we will all have our own ideas of what went wrong and why.
My point is that our club is dying. It’s slow and it won’t be terminal but it is failing in front of our eyes, bit by bit and day by day. Like a once-great boxer staggering around in the ring against younger and fitter opponents and punch-drunk from years of unwise comebacks, our manager is completely and utterly washed up. I can’t remember an Arsenal team so obviously in decline or so patently uninterested and uninspired. The players are going through the motions and the collective malaise that is running through the team, the club and the supporters too is as palpable as it is agonising.
Wenger’s time has been up for years but it has now become embarrassing and ever more painful to watch. Once you take hope away then what is there left apart from embers and memories of a once great manager? That’s what Wenger has done. In signing this latest contract he has shown how completely out of touch he has become. His judgement has been shocking and a manager lives or dies by his judgement and decisions.
It seems clear that he isn’t going to go quietly into the night as he certainly should do, so perhaps our only hope is the board recognising what is happening.
There is a simply massive rebuild ahead for the next manager. Look through our options in every position and add the contract situations into the equation. From what I can see, this is the culmination of years and years of neglect and arrogance as we have slipped behind bit by bit to our current position somewhere in the middle of a largely uninspiring Premier League.
Last night was just the latest chapter.
Or in other words, Adam, we are fukked.
This is why I’d hate to see a young, relatively inexperienced manager replace Wenger, though.
His replacement will be on a hiding to nothing, so better we get someone who demands instant respect, and is a hard head.
Get rid of the shit, and bring in some leaders.
It could take as little as one poor season to put the right things in place to see us headed back up the ladder.
Or, we can have another season of this to do even more damage.
Morning Adam, all.
I’m speechless really, as you say Adam there are so many things wrong at the club. What was on show last evening was simply awful. I’ve seen more commitment and better football played in the championship.
I really don’t know what Wenger is thinking these days. His days are surely numbered. Perhaps once he breaks Fergies record he’ll bugger off…
I’m not sure Wengers replacement needs to be a hard head Scott, he just needs to know what he’s doing. A new face and different coaches would soon see a different attitude from the players who right now are like us imo, bored to bloody tears with Wengers ideas.
Rico. I agree. It was absolutely awful and as we stand, there is no end in sight. Ask him to resign and bring Ancelotti in to steady the ship and realign the players to a few realities for a while I would say.
If his own judgement wasn’t so impaired and twisted he would see the situation for what it is.
The fact hat he is carrying on at all under these circumstances is proof enough that he is the wrong man for the job.
Adam, it pains me to say this but I guess it’s better we lose matches like yesterday because all the time we are dire but win, he’ll believe he’s doing ok. I think if I had to be the one asking him to resign, I’d be doing just that this morning.
Another shame is the penalty because it’s given him an excuse to hide behind which I see he has…
Rico, maybe, but it can’t be an inexperienced guy.
It could ruin a potentially great young manager.
Get Hiddink in for a season.
He loves short term gigs and will stabilise things, and isn’t afraid of players with egos.
Morning all.
I feel numb !………..Adam puts it so much better than I could.
I feel that the longer Wenger stays the more harder it will be for a new man to put it all right and lets be real here, it will take years, especially if it needs new players because we all know how much they cost now and they will only get more expensive.
We really are being left in shit street with our stupid contract renewals etc`………………….even if we had the magician Pep, I doubt he has the certain type players to work with and as I just said it will/would take astronmical figures of investment to buy the right players, sadly we dont have that kind of owner !……………………….as all are saying, we are well and truly fcuked, no quick turnaround here, we are a million miles away from the kind of off this world football Guardiola`s team is playing and the worst thing is that I dont see any light at the end of the tunnel, not a flicker !………………………..yesterday really hit home of how far we have fallen, how average we have become !………….sad times ahead……………..there`s always the FA Cup though !
If you are referring to Silva Scott, he’s not really inexperienced. Young yes but he was behind our defeat to Olympiacos a few years ago 2-0 up and lose 3-2….
Isn’t Tuchel unemployed?
Rico, I’m not referring to Silva, but the numerous young managers we’ve all discussed in recent years.
Lc, I don’t think it’s the players, it’s the manager and the way he treats them, coaches them and plays them. Yes, a few need moving on but a different manager, a proper midfielder and a couple of top notch defenders and we’d be much improved I’m sure.
The team lacks discipline, shape and drive because Wenger is so disorganised and out of ideas himself imo.
LC, there is no light because we can’t see Arsene or Stan leaving, unfortunately.
Rico. It’s the latest Arsenal dilemma. Nobody wants their team to lose but Wenger’s general awfulness makes that very thought flicker through one’s mind more and more. If there was any correlation between results and the manager at Arsenal, as there rightly is at other clubs, then he would have been gone a long time ago. But it seems that there isn’t.
Arsenal used to stand for something and though they have never been a club that flicked through managers with regularity, I simply cannot believe that the board do not share our concerns. Is Wenger’s continuance really immune from performances and results? If so, how can that possibly be the case?
As concern from fans melts away and is replaced with the sort of apathy and a general “What can we do?” shrug of the collective shoulders I would only point out that it’s a long way back. Clearly too far for Arsene Wenger who seems stuck in some parallel universe of utter complacency and failure.
Troy Deeney has summed this Arsenal team up rather well.
Rico, I have probably fallen into the rose tinted glasses category of thinking our squad is a lot better than it really is and fed up of making excuses for them, we are pants !…………………no doubt someone else would get them better , but not to the Guardiola level.
We are a shower of shit stuck in a tunnel of turd with the biggest fan blowing in our faces…………………..should say faeces as I`m trying to convey how shit we are ! hahaha
What`s even more disturbing is that when I saw the result I just accepted it when normally I would be pissed off, I`ve become an acceptor of averageness and I cant see us ever being much better until two people are gone forever……………………….you know who I mean !
Adam, I agree. I simply can’t understand why anyone sitting on the board would think that what’s being played out in front of them is good. I do wonder if many of them actually watch what Wenger serves up. And as for the contractual situation which so many of our players are in, whoever is responsible for that should really be handed their P45.
There is only one person/eason that Arsene is still employed, and we all know it.
Ha ha Lc, perhaps I have them on too. Honestly, on paper the squad we have should be doing a lot better than it is. But only when a new bloke comes in will we see for sure. One who will add some steel to the team and allow who we do have to be themselves instead of taking the bite out of their character. All opinion I know but it’s too much of a coincidence for so many players to arrive being toughies to then be wimps….
Go back a year or two or further and AKB`s were full of excuses etc`………………….this year I`ve broused the blogs and cant find one die hard AKB defender !……………….AA has gone quiete…………………………what`s the other Loyal Arsene site ?……………..I need to have a look and a laugh !
LC, I’m still called one all the time lol
Hahaha Scott………………..Honestly mate, I`ve never thought of you as one, the one`s I think of like on AA are Terry Mancini Hair Transplant who is one of the nicest people you could meet, but he does have a shrine to Wenger which he prays at every day !
😆
I’ve always said I’ll never abuse or insult the man, but I’ll crticise him when I see fit.
He’s done so much for the club, and it shouldn’t be forgotten.
Stan has never done a bloody decent thing for the place and yet he needs to do something right now-that’s to tap Arsene on the shoulder and tell him it’s time.
It’s bloody hard not to insult the Frenchman these days, in fact I’ve given up trying! He’s old, stubborn, arrogant, a control freak and a bloody useless man manager. One who puts his own ego ahead of anything else…
I know he wants to keep Giroud happy but taking Lacazette off every match in a straight swop must undermine both of their confidences. One not good enough to start and the other not good for more than an hour. Why can’t he be radical and play both together.
Looks like Sanchez is off and Ozil may be too , if Sanchez goes we need a different plan which I know is not Wenger’s best suit but we have to think ahead . Jack has to get time on the pitch and sitting him down to put Holding on will have shattered him too. Looks like Koscielny is going to be an ongoing problem , so the sale of Gabriel makes even less sense than it did at the time. Wonderful thing hindsight, it’s just as important as forethought whatever or wherever that may be
The midfield is a problem , Jack would add spark going forward but who do we have to protect the back three ?
I agree at half time when the game started changing by swapping our forwards from a mobile handful to a static filck on with no-one to run on to them , we just fell back invited them on to us , allowed them to bring on bigger more powerful forwards that bullied us and with a handful of luck from a refereeing mistake , Watford did what we all knew in our hearts and could see what would happen .
We are are midtable team scrapping for the Europa league now, the ship with the top table has long ago sailed.
I guess Wenger had little choice but to sit Jack back down after Kos was injured. The odd decision was to bring on Ozil, another softie. Totally agree re Lacazette, why on earth he gets subbed in every game I just don’t understand..
Potter, everything you’ve said there is spot on.
Why wouldn’t we have a striker playing off Gurouds shoulder?
To me, he’s made for that.
City could very well get into double figures against us in a couple of weeks time and I bet Koeman kicks his winning ways off against us next weekend too. In fact the next few weeks/months are going to be more painful than yesterday.
Wenger deserves no respect from me right now..as much as what he has done for the club in the past, the club has done him more than he ever hoped for. .both financially and professionally.
he is so arrogant, stubborn and selfish to realise that.
Its all about him now and never about the club or its fans
He is just like his employer and they both deserve no respect imo.
Good moaning all…
I know how you feel Kk…
Snap rico. 10.23.?
KK, I never told anyone else how they should feel about Wenger, or the manner in which they discuss him.
OK Scott me neither!
Rico re whilshare wenger could have resorted to a back 4 or even played elneny instead of kos ..but I guess he was only hanging on the draw and it backfired!
.
Even an average TV spectator like me could see our midfield was struggling and needed an input. .not sure if jack could have improved things though!
Didn’t think of that Kk, mind you, neither did Wenger..
KK, there is no question he’s lost nearly all of his support from fans.
That goes without saying.
IMO, it should be left at that but I do understand that frustration leads to hatred.
I reckon he still honestly believes he’s the right man for the job and that’s why somebody must step in.
“Somebody” won’t, though.
Morning All
Morning Rico.
I saw the Troy Deeney interview and thought he made a lot of sense, he in fact probably echoed what a lot of Gooners were saying as they traveled home from Vicarage Road.
Unfortunately we’ve gotta go through a lot more of this pain in order for there to be change at the club, people at the top at the Emirates have to be forced to act, the sad thing is they could have acted last summer or before and therefore have had a smooth transition, but because of the systematic inertia at the top of the club the change is probably going to be a mess.
Ancelotti for 2/3 years, a safe pair of hands, to settle things down, unless of course we can persuade a Allegri to leave Juventus.
There’s been rumours of Vieira coming in, but a young manager could be swept away by the problems we currently have.
A good clear out and a total change in mentality is needed at Arsenal.
We are soft, even Kolasinac looks to have lost his edge, just a Gabriel saw his edge blunted after a few months of Wengers out of date methods.
Good morning Rico and all
I Did watch City and i really enjoy it their footy.Respect
There is nothing to comnent about Arsenal team and the manager as it is repetitive thing and no one is full.
Thanks
As far as Ozil leaving and Alexis leaving, well frankly I couldn’t give a fcuk.
They’re part of the problem, the malaise.
No wonder Giroud didn’t wanna join Everton, he’s got it easy at Arsenal, plays now and again, keeps himself fit for Russia 2018, his wife loves London and he’s on a big wedge.
There will probably be a reaction this week and I can see us going to Belgrade and getting a positive result.
But that’ll only cover up the cracks and we’ll go on to lose at Everton next weekend.
I didn’t mean that I particularly want them to stay , only that if they are going we need to start thinking about life without them. If Jack is to be the answer then it’s time to throw him to the wolves if he gets injured again before January then we know what we have to do. Knowing the prat in charge he probably is planning to keep things as they are till the window, then sell Ozil and introduce Jack to break down in February. I mean who would forsee that panning out.
Deeney just about summed it all up , physical aggression and our lot upsticks , pack up their tent and move on to the next debacle. . He is bang average , he knows it , he admits it but he also knows how to handle us . He only needed twenty minutes to change things , roughly the same amount of time afforded to Giroud.
We all know the script by now. hey Potter 🙂
Kev, harsh on Giroud, I reckon.
He gives more than plenty of others, IMO.
Everton would possibly have been the softer option.
He wants to overtake Fergie, I’m convinced of that. That’s why he stays imo..”.
Morning Kev, Alex.
Spot on Kev. It’s not going to pretty for the rest of the season, that’s for sure. Now, instead of leaving as a respected manager, his reputation is in tatters imo.
Hoe many games to go until that happens, Rico?
You know what, I don’t give a toss who leaves these days either, if they don’t want to be at the club then we don’t want them either. Wenger can bugger off and take all little pupils with him…
13 I think Scott.
I’d hate to think that’s his motivation, Rico, but it’s entirely possible.
Agree re Deeney Potter, and if he knows it, so does everyone else. For far too many years now we’ve been known as the Southern softies yet Wenger does bugger all about it..
It’s highly probable Scott, that’s what he’s like or certainly appears to be like. He’s no better than Mourinho in relation to it all being about him. Same with the FA Cup, he wanted that last one, the one to overtake Utd.
That’s why he stayed after 2014 then 🙂 🙂 🙂
There is of course a difference , Fergie lasted a long time but once he had found a winning formula he continued winning to the very end. However when he went he left Moyes with a complete hash up of a squad that really didn’t want him.
Wenger however will have more longevity but has precided over a gradual decline in his club’s fortunes. When he leaves he also will leave a basket case of a squad for the next man to try and mould into something.
History will still see Fergusson as the better man. But Wenger will not see or appreciate that.
I must say you guys are one of a kind. I still can’t believe you ‘re still posting and blogging. How do you do it rico?? How do you get out of this funk write a blog and comment all day? I lost my arsenal mojo a long time ago. I really respect you guys rico Scott Adam kev lee etc. I just can’t find it anymore. It’s gone. I miss my weekends with arsenal. I miss the anticipation. The anxiety when we go a goal down. I miss titi ripping teams to shreds. I miss teasing the few spurs coonts I run into. Now they tease the hell out of us. I find no joy in watching arsenal no more. You guys that still do have my utmost respect. God bless you all. Morning good people.
Wenger will be doing the same as Fergie but worse. The squad he’ll leave behind when he goes will not only be in a mess but there won’t be many players either as they’re out of contact over the next year or two.
Fergie was smart, he kept changing his assistant and coaches, unlike Wenger who has kept his for all the years he’s been at the club. I bet Pat Rice would still be assistant manager had he not needed to retire.
Gulfs apart are Fergie and Wenger…
It’s become a habit Goonster ?
Rico it’s not the fergie record ma’am. That old crone has no life outside of football. He has very few friends. His wife left him. He’s been living in England like forever. Where ‘ll he go? What ‘ll he do?? He ‘ll be dead in a week if he quits football. No other team wants him hence the reason he’s staying put. He once said fergie owns a few horses meaning fergie has a life outside of football and he wengfraud has none. End of story.
rico 10.41, City followed by the scum in November couldn’t come at a better time, isn’t that when we usually have our seasonal slump, we can blame it on that lol.
In my opinion, Arsenal’s biggest problem at this point is Ozil. He does not play, he does not fight, he does not run and mainly, the other players do not want him in the team. He wins more than the others, he does not do anything, he is idolized as a “star”, and the other players feel obliged to play with him, because he is better paid, is the “star”, etc.
With Alexis it’s different. They feel the same, but it is noted that they try harder. And it produces. And he does not make up “excuses” for not going to trainning or play.
I know plenty blame ozil and wengers predictable substitution’s, and rightly so, but I thought both wingbacks were rubbish yesterday and offered nothing. .in case of bellerina he was the worst player on the pitch!
Wenger is doing to Lacazette what he has done to polodosky! Why he subs him every time I dont know!..
wonder if it’s because we have to pay more dosh if he played on for full 90 mins
It still baffles me that he earns 8.5 million!!! Have you guys been watching napoli this season. Oh my god. I haven’t but after I got a tip from a friend I watched their seasons highlights and men do they look formidable going forward. That’s for the fans that keeps saying be careful what you wish for. They are so scared of change it’s unbelievable.
Arsenal have 13 more league games up to the end of the year.
We’ve lost 3 games in 8 played so far this season.
With games like Everton (a), ManCity (a), Tottenham (h), Man Utd (h), Liverpool (h), I reckon we could have lost 6 or 7 games by the New Year.
Having already lost at Stoke and Watford how can we be confident about trips to Burnley, Southampton, West Ham, C.Palace and West Brom?
Goonster
Goonster, he could have gone to plenty of other clubs back in the summer. If life is so tough for i’m with not having any money to spend on transfers, why didn’t he?
Micko, stuff nightmares of made of eh… lol
Adamant ????
Nightmares !!!
Halloween has come early and will carry on for the foreseable future !………….dont close your eyes or Freddie Kroenke will slash your wallet and take the money !
I`m only enjoying EL and CC with the kids giving it their all, mind you, the way we are currently racking up the injuries, they will be playing in the EPL !
Rico you realistically believe other clubs are in for him?? Lol lol lol yeah right. He’s a busted flush. Only him and his band of fanatical supporters believe his hype. Trust me Rico no one wants Wenger. He’s been found out. Ok tell me what he ‘ll do differently?? Make them more defensively sound? Not his biggest strength. Get them playing pragmatic and flair football?? You ‘re having a laugh. A team like leceister ‘ll fire him after 3 games let alone the big teams. He’s done Rico.
Watching SS the other day and see that Gerry Francis still has the same mullet hairstyle from the 70`s !………………it will be stuffed and preserved in the National Football Museum when he eventually kicks the bucket !……………….Im` sure Kroenke gives it admiring glances !
Goonster, yes, I do believe their are plenty of clubs that would take Wenger as their manager, not necessarily the big named clubs but if he wants to remain in football after he leaves Arsenal, I’m sure he’d soon be snapped up …
I agree Rico………………………………Santander, Barclays, Halifax, Nat West, American Express etc` would all snap him up as he does have an Economics Defree from the University of Strausberg !………………that`s like having an Inbred Family Tree Certificate from The Pendeen Heraldry Society !……………………………..
😆
Watching Isaac Hayden playing for Newcastle! And we paid how much for Xhaka?
Rico. The whole Xhaka thing is a mystery to me. He’s got a great pass in him if given the time, but he is horribly slow and seems to concentrate only in short bursts. The interesting thing is how players like him and Hector would do under a new manager with new motivation. Surely they must be better than they seem.
Adam. I really like Xhaka. He was a bit rash in the tackle when he first arrived but his game was better. Wenger has taken the bite out of him imo and he’s fallen the same way as so many others.
Being slow doesn’t bother me too much but he looks like a fish out of water. I’m not even sure he knows what his role is within the team. Same with Ramsey.
No direction from Wenger it seems.
Rico. He looked ok when he first came but as he has had to take on more responsibility he has looked more and more suspect to me. Under Wenger, he doesn’t look like the quality of player we would need to challenge the top teams. But, as I said, under a new regime? Who knows? Then again, after yesterday’s game I would reckon we are in deep trouble with those issues throughout the team. 🙂
Under a new regime Adam, I think he’d be a very different player and not only him…
Let’s hope sothe
Oops. Let’s hope so then
Let’s. I’ve just written a post, shall I put it up Adam? ?
rico, if only Jack could get a run of two games in a row eh !
Gawd only knows where Xhaka last left his calling card, haven’t seen it at the Emirates for ages.
Hurricane Ophelia hits Kerry at 6am tomorrow morning, the media stress it’s life threatening and have told everyone to stay away from the beaches and cliffs……….only in Ireland.
Rico. Now and not in the morning?
Micko. You batten down the hatches and take care then.
Micko, he might if Wenger actually played him but I reckon he’s treating him sensibly for once. Won’t make up for the years when he overplayed him though..
You go steady and take care, although I bet it never arrives….
I’ll keep for the morning then Adam…
I’ve just read your comment again Micko. Very funny. ?
Cheers Adam, been told to stay at home tomorrow, too dangerous to travel, all the schools in the county are closed, it’s definately coming.
I had to check the news Micko, just to make sure… it’s on its way then….
I’m off guys, night Adam, Micko, all..
Be safe Micko, and you’re family etc…
Night Rico.
Take care Micko.
Would it be worth trying Xhaka higher up the pitch?
His lack of pace wouldn’t be exposed and he really can deliver some sublime passes.
Then, we have enough options there already and it’d just make the lack of a proper DM even more noticeable.
Stan, it’s a struggle, but someone has to do it 🙂
Still with us, Micko?
How hectic is it?
Did City win?
As I said Scott, I would play Wilshere and give him the chance to either succeed or break down . At least we would know what to do with him , I believe he is coming to the end of his contract ‘so if it’s the latter we are not doing another financial chuck away.
Yes Lee………………..they were completely outplayed and fluked a 7-2 win, their supporters are up in arms and want Guardiola out because of the negative type football ……….they are demanding the Mansours tap up Wenger……………..
Sounds like the smart move, Potter.
Morning all.
LC, we can swap managers, as long as we trade owners, as well 🙂
400 million in 14 months-you and I could
manage them bahahahahahahaha
LC yeah absolutely terrible manager, spends money, addresses his squad’s weaknesses, does tactics, wins major trophies….
Well, I wasn’t keen on Pep but boy, how wrong was I….
Morning all..
Morning Rico.
Morning Scott.
Morning Rico. As I believe we all spoke about when it was announced that Pep was leaving Bayern and Wenger was completely finished, the planets had aligned perfectly. He wanted to come and although Arsenal couldn’t fund him as lavishly as Man City (obviously), his footballing ethos seemed an ideal fit. And look where we are now and where we are heading. 🙂
It takes more than just money to build an exciting and successful team I think.
Adam, there’s absolutely no doubt that it takes a hell of a lot more than money, but we shouldn’t pretend a.l big budget doesn’t help.
Would Arsene have thata the City squad ticking over as well as Pep has?
I doubt it.
Would Pep have our squad going as well as City are now?
Not in my opinion, as we are pretty weak, so it takes the complete package.
City have it, from the owners, down to the manager and throughout the squad.
What have we got?
On no level do we compete with them and that simply can not all be down to Wenger.
Can anyone here honestly say we have the owner to help us rival what City are doing?
It’d be ridiculous to suggest that’s the case.
Arsene can’t rival Pep these days.
Our squad is missing plenty and that’s in no small way down to Arsene, but again, we don’t have the budget to rival City, even if Arsene was happy to spend more.
Morning Adam. I agree, money isn’t everything and just because the City owners have given Pep bucket loads it doesn’t mean he wouldn’t succeed if he didn’t spend as much..
The question should perhaps be, would Pep have our squad better prepared, playing better and winning more often? My answer to that is yes.
New post up now.
Rico. The point is surely that he saw where City were deficient and addressed those situations. If you look at what he spent on great players like Sane and Jesus and what we have spent of average players then consider how he has utilised those players. That says it all. Guardiola would not tolerate some of the shite performances our blokes put in.
