Does today's fixture matter that much, it's only three points isn't it?

How much does this fixture matter to you? How much do you want us to wipe the smug grin off every Spud Fan’s face who believes the tide is turning in North London?

You might think that’s a silly question to ask a Gooner but today at The Emirates, every fan needs to let their voices show the players just how much it means, get behind our team from the off and let the voices of the Spud fans drown….

Is it the date you first check when the new seasons fixture list gets announced and put a big red mark on the calendar? I thought so.

Towards the end of last season, Tottingham finally broke their 20 game run without a victory over us in the league.  It wasn’t a good result for us but at least it helped the economy in that part of London with the sale of their DVD.

Since then of course we have faced them in the Carling Cup and after extra time came home with a 4-1 victory. They’ll want revenge for that I’m sure but that matters not it’s a Derby and we’ll be up for this game!

Tottingham haven’t beaten us on our territory for seventeen years and that last victory they experienced was back in 1993 when George Graham fielded a ‘reserve’ side as we had the FA Cup Final date a few days later. In fact I read yesterday that it’s been 68 games since they won away at either our ground or that of the Chavs, Manure or The Dippers!! Let’s make that 69 today if that fiqure is correct.

Spud fans believe they now have a much stronger side, certainly much stronger that ours but what poppycock!

They have Gomes – we have an ‘in –form’ Fabianski
Gallas –Squillaci
Bale – Nasri
Modric – Arshavin
Van de Vaart – Cesc Fabregas
Bentley – Wilshere
J-anus – Song
Crouch – Chamakh
Pavlyuchenko – Bendtner
Defoe – Robin van Persie
Lennon – Walcott

Be honest with yourselves, which player of theirs is better than ours, which of their players could get a game for Arsenal, let alone improve us? And I’ve only picked out their better players! Well, apart from
J-anus. 😉

Many no doubt will think Bale but wait until he’s been playing consistently for a season, then maybe but he blows hot and cold, today Sagna will make sure he’s the latter.

Then we have Rosicky, Sagna, Clichy, JET, Djourou, Gibbs, Denilson and even Eboue…

Come on, we outdo them in nearly every position and on our day we can be unstoppable, today has to be one of those days.

Not only can we not afford to drop points for the obvious reasons, we cannot lose again at home this season and especially not to our most bitter of North London rivals and we won’t!

This fixture matters more than any other League fixture in the season, yep, more than the Mancs or Chavs, this is tops. Today we are not only fighting for points we are fighting for the rights to brag too. Many Gooners have Tottingham fans as neighbours, work colleagues, maybe even customers. Do you want to see their sickly grin every day for the next ten years bragging about how they beat us today?? No nor do I and I don’t expect to either.

So come on Mr Wenger, pick the side that has the attitude to win, the commitment like we showed against Wolves and Everton. If we fight from the beginning to the end as we did in our last two games then we’ll win and we’ll be top of the league…

Only three points at stake? Like heck is it!!

Come on you Mighty Reds!!

Morning rico, great piece, especially the 68 game stat…unbelievable!!

If that was us, after even 10 games the media would be milking it with little ‘mini league’ stats all over the place!!

Got a really good feeling about today. Jack is a must cos he’ll get stuck in as is theo to pin back monkey boy!!!

  2. rico says:

    Morning Rocastle, – thanks 🙂

    I’m really nervous about today…

68 games is incredible, big mental barrier for them to break down, you are right re the media, they love ‘our stats’ when they are negative…

Will he start with Jack though after his caution yesterday and the news in the paps…

  3. rico says:

STV, same old ‘Arry, we just need to make sure we are up for this today, no repeat of our last few home performances…

  4. Steve Palmer says:

IT’S NOT JUST ABOUT LIFE AND DEATH
    IT’S MORE IMPORTANT THAN THAT

WE WILL MEET THEM ON THE STREETS
WE WILL MEET THEM AT THE GROUND
    CESC WILL SHAKE HIS HAND
AND WE’LL HAVE A KICK AROUND

    WE’LL PLAY FOR NINETY MINUTES
AND AT TIMES IT WILL BE HARSH
    BUT WE WILL PERSEVERE
    AND KICK THEIR F—ING ARSE

    COME ON YOU GUNNERS

  5. rico says:

    Morning Steve

Nice one, we certainly need to play for ninety minutes and some, no pussy footing around today….

  6. rico says:

Nigel Winterburn about Gallas and the reception he will get…

‘Hostile, he moved to the enemy’

    Too true Nigel….

  7. Gunnernet says:

Denilson with exception of a couple sloppy passes the secret weapon today. Won all the tackles, headers and many fouls by dishearted spuds.

  8. rico says:

Wow, what a half, we should have had this dead and buried by now though…

didn’t like the left arm hood to nasri by gallas in the first few minutes….

    Erick, yes 😉

  9. Stef says:

    WTF!!! this is just ridiculous.
I’ll stop watching now actually will stop untill the end of this month.
    What the hell happened???

  10. Gunnernet says:

Even we turn it around and win we will not be champions at May. Excellent first half horrible second. Highly incosistent in the same game.. Game over season over for me..

  11. Stef says:

We gave them the three point AW didn’t do his math well.
Such a silly goals to receive on a derby with ur long time enemy/rival unbelievable.
I need to stop writing until something brakes near me.
I feel for the Arsenal fans on the Stadium. What are they feeling now must of been multiplied by 60.000 then the average couch potato fan.
    C ya next month guys.

  12. K-TR7 says:

Im taking a break from Arsenal as i can’t bear to watch us bottle everything up.rico im sorry to say this but i won’t write the CL post as i don’t care anymore.if they can’t be up for the NLD…

  13. Suhail.TV says:

We were never perfect in the last 5-6 years. one area get good other get lost. but.. when does emirates turned an away ground for arsenal ???????

  14. K-TR7 says:

Im going for a full media and internet lockdown.i left the game at 2nil to attend to an issue only to comeback and see we had lost.in alk my experiences as an Arsenal fan only Paris comes close to what am feeling…

  15. K-TR7 says:

Rico an average utd side is now joint top.Bolton destroyed a team that beat us…Henry should give them the teamtalk.he never lost against the scum but he must be gutted watching on as a fan.on the day Aw said this is the greatest ever Arsenal team it was a shocking display in the 2nd half.

  16. rico says:

KT, I know, i am as p****d off as you, trust me and if it wasn’t for HH i would stay away from footie for a good few weeks, i am really cheesed off the way we gifted them that win and as for taking nasri off…

    just stupid…

  17. K-TR7 says:

Rico i still can’t believe it.seeing them camp at our home ground was gut-wrenching!if barça/madrid were 2 nil up at HT in a derby knowing a win would take them top the scoreline would have been 5 or 6.when bale scored you just knew we would bottle it.

  18. rico says:

i knew 2-0 wasn’t enough KT, Denilson was pathetic for their goal, he didn’t even attempt to stop Bale, too many silly tackles made again, especially kos’s one that gave them the winner..

JD should have started, Nasri should have stayed on, and, Cesc was so slow today he held up play….

  19. K-TR7 says:

JD Should start since he has earned it.cesc plotted our downfall.chamakh is infuriating in front of goal…nasri should take cesc’s place as he is our best player right now and should be central.denilson did the same with rooney last season.i said that as much as it hurts me to say i’ll stand by my earlier prediction that we’ll win nothing with this bunch unless we add some experienced internationals that would’ve been useful today.hope they prove me wrong…

  20. agirlagunner says:

I was ribbed no end for setting up shop in the middle of a party, rico. Saw the scoreline at two-nil. Returned after some time to find a horror show was underway. What the fudge was that?? I am absolutely, absolutely gutted.

  21. rico says:

Anyway, i’ve had enough for the day…

Prob be a very late new one tomorrow, KT, don’t go too far for too long…

    See ya folks…

  22. rico says:

agag, i know – just such a stupid, lazy, crazy second half and AW needs to answer a few calls….

Gutted and absolutely furious, 17 years and they beat us this way…..
