Does Dec deserve it?

Morning all.

We’re half way through this international break but this last week has felt like a month. So far, it’s good news on the injury front but of course, there is still one game for our players to feature in. Bukayo Saka and Ebe Eze secured England’s 2-0 victory over Serbia, both with stunning finishes. We could do with them doing the same next Sunday.

There is no real Arsenal news out there which isn’t a bad thing as no news is often said to be good news.

Declan Rice is one of the nominees for the Puskas award for his free kick against Real Madrid earlier in the year. But, he’s up against strong contenders. Reddit have assembled a video the nominees.

There are some amazing goals in that clip but honestly, as much as I admire the stunners, I love any goal however the ball crosses the line. A wonder strike, a scrappy toe poke or a goal which hits a players backside before deflecting into the back of the net, they all end with the same result.

Saying that, I’d love Dec to win the award but I’m not sure he will as there are too many flash overhead kicks up against him.

North London Derby day for Renée Slegers side tomorrow. The two clubs are level on points in the WSL, 6 points behind leaders Man City. After a disappointing result in the week losing 3-2 against Bayern Munich having been 2-0 up, Slegers side need a win.

Probably Yamal will get it although he has problems in Spain at the moment but like Messi and Ronaldo , he is the golden child .

There always seems a bias towards the big Spanish clubs so yes, Yamal will win and to be fair it was a good goal but also it was nothing out of the ordinary. No better than the goals Eze and Saka scored the other day!

Not sure Rice’s goal was the best or the most spectacular but his wasn’t just a punt, it was deliberate and he had the technique and control to strike the ball perfectly with his foot, to put enough velocity on the shot to beat the goalkeeper and the skill to keep the shot level.

    Thanks for the post Rico…

    Pleasure Kev. lol

I’m surprised his other free kick didn’t make it too. Both were stunning strikes and as you say, deliberate.

Just hope Calafiori’s injury is nothing serious.

England played the man and not the black shirt for a change…

It always was a case of sorting it out between their ears when it came to playing that mob of Antipodean Jocks.

A little premature to be picking a side for the NLD next weekend. With Saka, Eze and Rice all expected to start against Albania, later today, we have already lost Calafiori and Gabriel with doubts remaining about Gyokeres. Any further injuries will be a real problem for Arteta to solve.

What a plonker he’s been. A potential great career ahead of him yet chose the wrong path.. isn’t he the guy who smashed up his car and had an interfering mum?

  7. allezkev says:

Yeah Rico, Hincapie is an option as is Timber who played alongside Van Dyke recently for Holland and played really well, at least we have quality options it’s just that Gabriel is kinda irreplaceable.

Yeah Limey, I was reading about JET last night, scored on his debut for Braintree, 34 years old now, reminds me of Jay Bothroyd who is now a pundit (very pre-Arsenal), another who missed the boat, remember Miguel Azeez and Gedion Zelalem, where are they now?

    Morning Geoff.

Kev, I don’t think he’s injured. If he’s not, he played it well.

I’d rather see a left sided player along side Saliba but i’m convinced that will be Gabriel.
