Before anyone goes into a rant against me writing this, I am NOT a fan that wants to see our Welshman go, not this summer or any in the near future!
Having beaten Everton, Aaron Ramsey came under a bit of stick for missing one or two chances on goal, in fact the poor lad has been getting a bit of stick all season and I struggle to understand quite why?
Let’s take a look at his career with us.
In 2008, Manchester United all but confirmed the signing Aaron Ramsey, however Arsene Wenger had other thoughts, he nipped in, had a chat with the young man and his family in Switzerland and without hesitation, Ramsey signed on the dotted line and made his move to London.
Tough for Fergie, great for us!
Back then, Wenger described Ramsey as:
“A player with a fantastic engine, good build, good technique and good vision”.
What Arsene Wenger said back then remains clear to see today!
Let’s not bother looking at his career on loan before he stepped out in the red and white of our club! .
I’m pretty much sure that at that stage in his Arsenal career, most Arsenal fans were excited about our Welshman. Some suggested he was ‘the next Cesc Fabregas’, a future captain in the making….
One man certainly didn’t need convincing about Ramsey and that was the man who signed him and in July 2009, Ramsey signed a new long-term contract. In the August of 2009, Ramsey scored his first league goal for Arsenal, a one-on-one past David James as we thrashed Pompey 4-1 at The Emirates, he then had a part to play in the Champions League play-off fixture against Celtic, setting up Arshavin in our 3-1 victory.
He followed that with a Man of the match performance against Liverpool in the Carling Cup and all was looking good.
His first start in the Premier League came in November 2009, he played the full ninety minutes against Wolves, a game in which we were struggling a tad, until Song came on. He and Ramsey then bossed the midfield together and we romped home with ease.
Just a few days after that game, Ramsey was awarded the Welsh Young Player of the Year award.
In the December, Ramsey scored his second goal for his new club, this time against Stoke in a 2-0 victory and it didn’t take him too long to get his third, this one was again against Portsmouth, a game in which he nabbed an assist too.
On to January the following year, 2010, he scored a 78th minute equaliser in the FA Cup third round tie against West Ham at Upton Park – (we went on to beat them in the replay)
At this stage in his career, Arsene Wenger described him as:
An offence-minded Roy Keane, an all-round player, with a fantastic ability to cover distances.
Can any Arsenal fan not say that he/she wasn’t totally and utterly excited about this young player who appeared to have the intelligence of a player beyond his years?
Then it all went so horribly wrong…..
On the 27th February 2010 we travelled up North to face Stoke City, a side who loved to get in ‘the faces’ of other teams.
Well on that day, one man went a lot further, he didn’t just get in the face of our players, he wiped one out, totally!
Ryan Shawcross went in so late and so dangerously on Aaron Ramsey he caused a double fracture to his lower right leg. His tibia and fibula were broken!
Late in March the same year, after surgery, our player was back walking without crutches, remarkable but he had a long long way to go.
In the June, he signed another contract, nothing was going to stop Arsene Wenger keeping our man, not even a double break!
Remarkably, Ramsey returned to training in October 2010 and on the 23 November he made his return to competitive football for our reserves.
Further loans came his way and understandably so, he had to come back slowly….
February 2011 – yes 2011, just over one year ago, Ramsey was finally back at his own club, his first game was against Manchester United in the FA Cup, he was a 72nd minute substitute in a game we lost 2-0. The following month, he made his first start against West Brom and the month after that, he played and scored his first goal against Manchester United and he played so well, he earned the man of the match award.
The season ended and Ramsey had played just seven matches for us!
So, with all of seven fixtures last season, it seems that everyone, well, not everyone, expected Aaron Ramsey to be back to his best this season.
He should be over his injury shouldn’t he?
He shouldn’t have any mental scars or worries either, surely?
His game should have got so so much better shouldn’t it?
Doesn’t matter that he only played SEVEN fixtures last season does it?
Well, just think Eduardo and maybe all his critics will think again before knocking his performances this season.
Eduardo suffered a ‘similar’ injury and look where he is now, but we all expected Ramsey to slot and start performing at the highest level, didn’t we?
No is the answer to that, not all, most truly believed he would need at least a season to get back to where he was, let alone make strides ahead, so why is he getting so much stick?
This season, Ramsey has been accused of playing ‘like Denilson’ with his sideways passing, slowing down play in midfield with his backwards passing and after Wednesday, his shooting skills are dire!
Well I think some, maybe even many fans are being very harsh on Ramsey, he’s always busy, always looking to be involved and always looking to make things happen. It hasn’t been his fault that there has been limited movement off the ball when he’s looking to make his pass is it?
Most of the criticism was directed towards him when we were going through a lean old spell; he was an easy target, just as Theo and Gervinho so often were and still are.
Players like Ramsey are hard to find, just bear with him this season and allow him that bedding back in after injury time, he deserves it!
Next season, all those who have been on his back will be eating humble pie.
Sell him this summer?

If Chelsea beat Tottenham Hotspur in tomorrow’s lunchtime kick-off and then the Gunners win at home against Aston Villa then they will steal a march in the race for the third and final automatic Champions League place.
Should that transpire, it will represent a remarkable turnaround in the club’s fortunes. As recently as the end of January, Arsenal were 13 points off the pace set by their north London neighbours.At the start of the year, consecutive league defeats at Fulham, away to Swansea and at home to Manchester United looked set to end Arsenal’s season a month earlier than the February collapse which has become their trademark in recent years.It looked like club chief executive Ivan Gazidis’s long-held assertion that the Gunners could survive without a season European football would be put to the test. They faced a fight to even qualify for the Europa League, sitting as they were two points behind Liverpool. Hardly auspicious circumstances.
During the defeat at home to United, Arsene Wenger was roundly booed by fans at the Emirates for his decision to replace Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain with Andrei Arshavin with 15 minutes remaining.
There were chants of “You don’t know what you’re doing!” aimed at the French manager who had revolutionised the club. He was written off by some as a basket case, a man who was once a pioneer rendered redundant as the rest of football caught up with him.
Things were so bad for Wenger that even footage of him failing to put his hand in his pocket went viral, cited as evidence of how he had lost his marbles and needed to call it a day.
Since then, however, the Gunners have embarked on a six-match unbeaten run in the league which has propelled them up to third.
En route to the top three, Arsenal dished out a 5-2 thumping to Spurs, giving their local rivals a case of the yips from which they are yet to recover.
That was the first of three straight league defeats for Spurs, their worst run since Harry Redknapp ended Juande Ramos’s reign of terror in October 2008. They ended that barren stretch on Wednesday against Stoke, but even then it took a stoppage-time leveller from Rafael van der Vaart to avoid making it four losses on the spin.
Now is not the ideal time for Spurs to travel to Chelsea, where they have not won at all since the Premier League began. In fact, the last time Spurs won at Stamford Bridge was the same weekend Nelson Mandela was released from prison.
The contrasting momentum between Spurs and Chelsea is startling. While Spurs are very much on a downward trajectory, Chelsea are very much enjoying a revival. Only a visit to Manchester City ended their run of four straight wins under Roberto Di Matteo’s laissez-faire management, and even then it took a late comeback to consign them to defeat.
Chelsea’s players are enjoying their newfound autonomy under Di Matteo, whilst Spurs are struggling to come to terms with the widely predicted departure of their own manager.
Come Saturday evening, it is likely that Wenger will be able to sit back and revel in his two nearest rivals scrapping it out beneath his team, who will be sitting pretty as London’s top club once again.

FWIW, my take on the Ramsey situation this season is that he’s been played in the wrong role ie Creative Midfielder when MA hasn’t played and JW having been out for the season todate and that is not his ideal position – I see him more in the holding role along side AS – but then where does that leave him as and when Abou D comes back into the fold, and what system would we play to accomadate him?

While he does lack decision making qualities, Ramsey has too much upside to be sold especially at a young age. The problem with Ramsey is his decision making distributing the ball in the final third of the pitch – it’s slow. Case in point – at Everton, he had a a chance for a through-ball to RVP for a chance on goal, you could see he hesitated, and in that moment, the chance disappeared. It was a chance that Song and Walcott would have made as evidenced by their assists to RVP in previous games. Also, Ramsey tends to try to force too much during a game – case in point, too often makes a low percentage pass in the middle of the field resulting in a give-away to the opposition.
If Ramsey can improve on this next year, he will become the next Fabregas.

I know i am harping on about the Wolves game, but i think it was Ramsey and Diaby who started that game and wolves were all over us in midfiled, then AW made the change, Song for Diaby and the two (as i mentioned in the post) played so well together…
i think you are right in what you have said, imho we have so many players in midfield, something/someone has got to give but who?
Welcome Eroo, but he is still very young and learning, he lost a year through injury and the injury isn’t all about the time lost its also about what the body/mind has lost out on.
imho, some are being harsh, expecting too much too soon. i’m 100% sure he will get stronger and stronger over the next 18 months…

Selling Ramsey would be madness. He has struggled at times this season but it is not easy rebuilding a career after suffering the butchery he did. He doesn’t hide, gives 100% and cares. That is more than you can say about a few others still on the books. I said this yesterday. One of the problems of getting old is that you keep repeating yourself.

Morning Rico. I certainly don’t think that Ramsay should be sold. He is still very young and Wenger will coach him to move the ball quicker. Yes, he has missed some scoring opportunities that he should have taken and often dwells on the ball too long. It sometimes seems as if he doesn’t have a “picture” of the team’s position in his mind and that he needs a couple too many touches before deciding what to do. But that will come. He gets himself into excellent scoring positions too. Stick with him I say.
Rambo is a good player…only needs to improve on his finishing when he is given the chance [like Van P did for him in Everton’s game]. He also has to improve on his passes and tackles.
In all though, its too early to put a knife round his neck; lets give him and his team mates the support they need

and come up with the same answer ie NO!.
A ‘progress report’ with some data might be more interesting.
looking at this logically….we have lots of players who play in the middle: Song, Arteta, Wilshire, Diaby, Rosicky, Coquelin, Frimpong, and of course Ramsey.
If we do want to buy Gotze in the summer, who also plays in the middle, then logically, we would need to make room, as you cannot add another cm to that list without getting rid of one.
Now I’m not saying I want Ramsey to leave, I dont. However, sometimes you have to be ruthless for the good of the club, and if it meant Ramsey has to leave for us to buy Gotze, then being completely honest, I’d let that happen.
Id rather keep Song, Rosicky, Wilshire and Diaby than Ramsey. And I cant see Wenger selling Arteta after one year.
I wish Ramsey the best of success and will always support him while he plays for us, but would I swap Gotze for him? Yes, I would.

That little fella Messi has scored more hatricks than Caroll & Torres have scored goals this season….
This is unbelievable. Ramsey has done well this year. It’s his first full season in the PL, and he’s shown confidence, energy and flashes of class. We make chances when he is on the pitch, and it’s not just coincidence, his movment is very clever, and he contributes very well in winning the ball back.
Expectations have become terribly unrealistic. He’s 21 years old ffs, and all he has to do is add the finishing touches to his game. Keep his head more often in the final pass or shot on goal, and he will develop into a great midfielder.
As things stand, he’s a very good PL footballer. He’s no fabregas, but he is effective, and will only get more effective with time. It baffles me how much negativity comes his way from arsenal fans.
You all know my thoughts on Ramsey.
The kid will end up a great of the club.

He should stay without any question, the boy will turn into a class all round midfielder. He hasn’t had the best of seasons but his work rate and effort is second to none. I would love to see the stats on the ground that he covers during a game…it is non-stop from kick off to the final whistle. I wish people would get off his back because it doesn’t help the lad at all. He is a future captain in the making and we should be looking after him and getting behind him. 3 points against the Villa tomorrow and if Rambo starts then I think he’ll have a blinder against their midfield!
Adam, Scott & Lee – i don’t want him gone either, he’s 21 and 18 months of those years were ‘lost’ thanks to that thug….
1) I’m sure Ramsey played too many games this season due to injury and sale. I’m sure Wenger wanted to ease him into the set up filling in for Fab and Nasri in certain games.
2) It makes me worry that Wenger really expected Nasri and Fab to stay when the whole world knew they would move on. He didn’t find a replacement and then relied too much on Ramsey to fill their boots.
3) I think we’re lucky that Rosicky had a career turn around for us. As any more reliance on Ramsey only would’ve made him look very poor and affect his confidence and others in his ability.
4) I still think we need a creative attacking mid and JW, Arteta and Ramsey should alternate that holding position. Perhaps Ramsey will develop into a great attacking mid as already I see he gets his positioning right.
5) last point, I think this poor lad is under too much pressure from everywhere that he feels he needs to try so hard to win them over and runs his socks off but sometimes not thinking or visioning the play.

He’s been getting stick all season, from the ignorant naysayers we have adopted since our stadium capacity was increased by moving from Highbury.
What they say about Ramsey and Wenger is an embarrassment and they should be shunned by the majority of real fans at the stadium, in pubs and online. We need to school these guys and not let their negative influence take hold.
Morning Rico, completely agree. It’s also not his fault that Wenger has maybe played him to much on effectively his debut season. As you say next season with hopefully a stronger squad and some summer rest he will be back but patience is the key

I wouldnt have swapped RvP for Torres.
Like I said, I will always support any player that is playing for Arsenal, but I am being as honest as I can be. Gotze is one of the first names on the team sheet for one of the biggest footballing nations on the planet, and is the best player for the German champions. Ramsey is a very good player, but hes not as good as Gotze. I don’t think many will disagree with me either.
Like I said, I support Ramsey and hope he develops into a great midfielder. However, when everyone is fully fit at Arsenal, I’d say Song, Wilshire, Rosicky and Arteta are all ahead of him in the pecking order. Ramsey has plenty of time to develop, however with Wilshire being even younger, and better, Ramsey doesn’t actually have that much time to pull his finger out. I hope he gets it right.
And anyway, you can go on all you want about how he might become a great player, but plenty said that about Denilson, who we wasted 3 years on. I like Ramsey, but I love Arsenal. Whats best for the club will always come first.
the lad works hard n is ever present even though he doesnt score so many goals but look at the positive side of it he never lets you down whenever called upon

i think fans have a right to their own view but sometimes what hurts more is not so much what is said it’s the way it’s said, i don’t think wenger gets it right all the time, i don’t think that the board show enough ambition in the transfer market, especially times like january when injuries were really hurting us, just the signing of JV could have been the difference between us being one point ahead of totts and maybe more….
i know we’ll never know now….

I personaly think Ramsy needs to improve in his final ball and decision making, and that comes with experience, sounds like Theo Walcot deja vu, hopefully he will come good next season, he definately has future at the Emirates at the mo.
People should realize that most of the critisism about Ramsy was made as comments about certain games, and that what blogs like this great house is for, to express opinions, debate, therapy and occasionly “ecstasy”.
any player who had a good game would be praised and those who had a stinker would be scrutinized, and that doesn’t usually mean we hate them and want them out, I say not always anyway!!

However, one very important point about this player. He is being played out of position. He is no more a Fabregas style No.10 than Mertesacker is. Every single article I read about him makes this comparison, probably because thats where he has been deployed this year. But a blind man can see that he is better in the deeper positions (battling with Song and Arteta) than as the playmaker. Wileshire is the playmaker. Ramsey is an old fashioned up and down midfielder, but with a great degree of skill. He would be better suited to a 4 4 2, but in our current system, it just stupid to play him in the advanced role.
He is an all round midfielder. And yes, he has not been brilliant this year, but he has shown enough. In 6 years this boy will be a the best British footballer. I have not doubt whatseover. But thats the problem with project youth. Promisng youngster deserved a run in the first team, but in our team, they are expected to be the stars. A player this young should play in short bursts and then return to the reserves WITHOUT A COMMENT, except the build up of excitement to when they are next unleashed. But because we rely so heavily on them, they are subject to disproportionate criticism.
Its the same for Ox, and I predict Ryo next year. JAck may be different, but he is an exceptional talent. All of these players are Arsenal first team stars – for the year 2013/14 not now. The management needs to buy the stars to give these boys the time to develop. Because there is not doubt, the will develop if looked after

Good article Rico……one which expresses the feelings regarding Aaron that many on this blog have.
There are a few reasons why people keep getting on Aaron. I call him by name because I consider him to be my son and as Scott (good evening mate) said he still is a KID. KID with capitals.
So here goes……..
1) People keep comparing him with Cesc. This is wrong. Comparisons are odious. To say he is the new this and the new that means that you are still living in the past. Aaron is no Cesc and will never be. He is a player in his own self and if there is someone to whom he can be compared is to himself. Is he making progress? Is he improving? Is he contributing more to the team? Is he hiding when the going gets tough?
2) Imo he is playing out of position. He is not an advanced midfielder or second striker. He is a Parlour type midfielder who is more siuted to a 4-4-1-1 formation than a 4-3-3 one. As Andy Powers said, put him beside Song or as a link up between Song and Rosicky. He is a good link up person and knows when to hold the ball to allow the team to surge upwards.
3) Many comments on his shooting boots are way off the mark. Again, Aaron is no Cesc. So to expect him to score everytiime he has a chance is a bit way off the mark. Not even TH14/12 managed to put away all his chances and during his first season with us missed more than he scored.
No I would not sell him. He is still young enough to learn. And he will make his mark in the future. Sell him and it would be like trying to bite your elbow. You will find that you cannot.
Youve got to be having a laugh. Its an embarrassment that this post even exists. He had his leg broken to the extent that we didnt know if he would play again and just because you see him running around doesnt mean hes now completely over that and should have essentially developed as normal throughout that time.
Hes not a first 11 player at the moment IMO, but I have no doubt he will come good given the time and patience we should have for him given what happened to him.

Agree that no-one is above being criticised but sometimes the moans and groans go on for ever, even when certain players have a good game, fans still moan about them.
It’s almost like there has to be one or two that regardless how they play, fans still want rid…

Totally agree Rico, its the way people go about venting their frustration in such a narrow minded and hateful way…it does nobody any good at the end of the day. Imagine if Ramsey was to actually come on to some of these sites and read what people say, what good is that going to do to him. Everybody has been frustrated at times this season and everybody has a right to their opinion but to slag off Rambo who wears his heart on his sleeve and gives everything every time he puts of the shirt…thats just not on. I could understand the frustration with Arshavin to a certain degree because he never looked interested and didn’t appear to put in the effort, Ramsey is completely different and has years ahead of him.

i somehow like ramsey as he gives his all for the team while playing.i think though that he needs to work on his shooting accuracy as he can assist with goals.should have bagged a hat-trick on wednesday against everton.
My view has always been that if a player suffers a broken leg, a bad one, they should be sold on straight away. I knoW its a harsh way of looking at it but we have had 3 bad leg breaks in recent times and all 3 players were never near as good as they were before. Case and point.. Edoardo – Sold. Diaby – plays about 3 games a season and now Rambo – half the player he was before. I say cut our losses and replace. We have seen that consistency has bought our season around and having to carry players on a rehabilitation cycle can only affect this.
Name me any players who have recovered from a horrible break to become better then before?????
I think Ramsey tries too hard, maybe trying to make up for lost time or the un necessary pressure that people put on him…..he’ll come good, give the “boy” a chance!
And most of us were guilty of that at one stage Rico lol!!!!

Yes,there have been players who never lived up to their potential,but that’s a different story.

People are afraid of change. They want things to stay the same day in day out. That is why they say he is the next Cesc or the next Vieira or the next Henry or the next Best (pun intended).
To me that smacks of disrespect to the person as a player and as an individual.
The problem then arises because people expect the same results score wise and performance wise. And that is impossible.
One of the many arguments that I have with fellow coaches is that there are some who still think that players should fit the system. I have always coached the other way round…..I fit the system to the potential of the players that I have. Thus if I have midgets, and around three seasons ago I had that at under 17 level, I tend to play a short passing game with players forming triangles all over the pitch. But if I have a strong spine with a good amount of height then I do put in crosses.
And that is the mistake that many supporters make with Aaron. Not many have noticed that the team’s formation has changed slightly this year in midfield. Some still expect the same team play like last year. But this has changed and for people to judge Aaron by Cesc’s standard are simply showing themselves to be poor judges of the game.
And I’ve said all along that Aaron himself needs to be himself,and not try to be a new version of Cesc.
Id play him deeper,and bring Mikel forward.
Then again, 6 wins in a row begs the question why change a thing?????
I believe Ramsey will come good eventually. Sometimes though, I think he tries too hard. In a way he reminds me of Iniesta with his flicks(albeit unsuccessful). We just have to exercise patience with him

Hi, Aaron Ramsey has had a tough year but to be fair he has played far to many games this season after coming back from his injury. Because of Wilshires injury and Rosicky looking like he was finished Ramsey was thrown in the deep end. He will become a great player in the Gerrard mould I really believe that but the kid needs time and support. It would be madness to sell him we would regret it big time and sure United or Chelsea would take him tomorrow. Theres only 1 Aaron Ramsey.

rico what do you think of Le Coq? I rate him so high that I think offensive the talk about us buying new defensive midfielder such as M’Villa. In my opinion Le Coq is not a potential, hes real talent and has calm and composure rarely found in young players.

I think Ramsay will be a great player and you can never have too many of those. Selling him would be silly. Better to spend the time on drumming sensible kicking into Chesney and responsible passing in your own area to Song. Both would be nice.

The major problem in the last six years is that we have lost a key component or components every summer. That means that every season has had to be a learning curve for the team. While some of the players we moved on were for the benefit of the dressing room, like Adebayore, Gallas etc, there were some players who we have really missed.
This year only Arshavin has left up till now and only RVP, Theo and Song are left to sign a new contract. Presuming that RVP signs and then also Theo I have a feeling that Song will sign also. If they do so then it would be the first summer that no one of imprtance has left. So we may see a summer where the dead wood finally is cleared out while good players might come in. But if no one leaves then I can only see three new signings…….a keeper, a striker (Podolski??) and a defender (Vertonghen). The rest will remain as they are.
On my part I would welcome Fellaini more than M’Vila

This type of mail is good for our players. Mild but without missing the point. Keep it up. I am one of those who would want Ramsey sold. But if he can read this write up and change his attitude he could be a better player.
We keep struggling if we play Arteta and Ramsey in the midfield. Both of them hold ball longer than required. Hence the advantage or what Rosicky brings to the team. They should try to be a little faster in passing the ball. Arteta will keep rotating at a spot without passing the ball; this is what Song also brings to the team.
Vanpersie was so desperate to score hence he missed goals. He should calm down. Walcot kept flopping each match. He needs to be composed.

Victor. It is probably worth bearing in mind that, up until this season, Song was often derided as a poor player. I am yet to be absolutely convinced as to his all round game but I cannot deny the enormous progress he has made. Having a manager like Wenger believe in you by selecting you must work wonders for your confidence I would think. The evidence is clearly there.

If we ever finish in 3rd place this season, I think this is the moment that the club turned a corner.
This was the night that saw a bronze statue come to life to lift the club. It made the players believe that they can do what TH14/12 can do they can go on to achieve.
Notice how all the players, Chesney included ran towards the legend to embrace him. In that way the team felt as one. The sheer joy that each one of them felt could be seen etched on their faces.
During those six weeks TH14/12 scored 3 goals to help AFC. Yet his contribution was not on the pitch. His main contribution was that he made a dressing room believe. He showed those who wanted to love AFC what it means and what should it take. And he also showed those who loved themselves that that is not the AFC way and those who think that way should leave (One has already done so).
Anyone doubting this can go to the final goal against Blackburn where RVP said”I wanted him to score” instead of scoring himself. That moment shows the togetherness that each player is now feeling.
And he also showed them how to believe in themselves and that each can turn the corner. And Aaron is such a player. Just allow him to turn the corner. MAybe he has already done so.

The problem with many people is that they watch the ball only during the game. I do not. I have trained myself to watch whatever else is to be watched beside the ball. Sometimes I even scan the crowds to see if I can spot some nice chick 😉
During my team’s games I tell one of my two assistants to watch the buildup and where the ball is. In that way I can concentrate on the defence’s shape when my team is attacking and upon the attackers’ shape when we are defending. And not watch the F*****g ball only and the final delivery.
If people watch Aaron when he does not have the ball they can come to realise what a honest hard worker he is.
devil, we said similar at the time TH signed on loan, it was for the off-field ‘stuff’ as much as on the pitch, this was proved by how little he actually played in that time here…

However, I’m confused about Fabianski for the following reason, if he were to leave then who would be WS backup? Admitably, we do have a couple of very good young keepers coming through in Martinez and Shea, but imho they are not ready for the PL just yet. So who would be your No2 keeper?
AK, what if Song were to leave, and I think there may be a possibilty of this? I see that you mention both Coq & Frimmy (both of whom I rate highly), but there is also another little gem in the background by the name of Serge Gnarby, who is pprogressing through the ranks and is top quality as well.
And FWIW, M’villa is good but not €20-25m good..

Personally, I would like us to sign an older keeper, one like Jussi, a player who is reliable but has just one maybe two years left in him…

i dont think he should be sold at all. we’ve seen enough players come back from injury and play to 50% of their talent . i believe this is the case with ramsey and it will probably take him another half a season of playing games until we see him doing what he done pre injury. sell him? no way!! but he is definately not playing well enough to warrant a berth in the starting 11. Id like to see andre santos in the middle , with his build.passing and attacking prowess, i think he could do well there.

I am a pessimist and basing on Wenger’s track record with British youngsters, Ramsey may not make as he will find it more and more difficult to be a starter with Rosicky regaining his form, WIlshre returning and of course, OX can play in the same posiiton as Ramsey..but with more pace, more creative and scoring ability.
Not forgetting DIaby if he is injury-free…perhaps another “Van Persie”…4 years of injury-wrecked season…and 5th season..finally injury-free and fulfilled his potential?
Look at both of these players in SOng and Ramsey who both are regular starter in 2011.
Guess who provide the most assists and read Van Persie’s runs better?

Arsenal will confirm the £10.9million signing of Lukas Podolski next week after the striker passed a medical with the club’s doctors.
Following tests in Germany, Standard Sport understands Podolski was at the Gunners’ London Colney base earlier this week as the finishing touches are put to a four-year contract worth in the region of £100,000 a week.
There are still one or two small details to be finalised but Cologne are believed to be planning a departure press conference for the 26-year-old early next week to confirm that he will be moving to Emirates Stadium at the end of the season.
Manager Arsene Wenger denied the deal was imminent at his press conference today, motivated at least in part by a reluctance to pre-empt an announcement from the Bundesliga club with the transfer not quite yet concluded.
“I don’t master the timing [of any announcement] because that does not just rely on us,” he said. “It could happen soon, it could happen later, I don’t know.
“It is always a concern [that someone else could come in for him]. The speed in which you do things is important, but it is always the player who makes the decision. It is about how much they want to join you.”
Wenger was more forthcoming in his admission that the club are keen to avoid a repeat of last summer’s delays in completing their transfer business.
Five players arrived in the final throes of the August transfer window after Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas had been sold and the club’s qualification for the Champions League group stage had been assured.
“You want to make me say that last year on that front was bad and I agree with you — last year was terrible for us because we finished on the August 31 at 11.55pm and we do not want to repeat that, of course,” he said.
“We will not be a lot on the market, quantity wise I mean. Quality-wise, certainly. But the number of the squad is 25. We will take a gamble if we find top, top quality of course.
“But don’t forget we have many players out on loan and we have not had [Jack] Wilshere or [Abou] Diaby for the whole season. These players will be back and that means number and quality wise, we are strong because we are in the position we are in without these players.”
The move for Podolski also signals a statement of intent from Arsenal as they attempt to convince Robin van Persie to sign a new four-year contract.
The Dutchman insists he will review his position at the end of the season but, with the Gunners now third in the Premier League, optimism is growing that he will commit his future to the club.
The prospect of playing alongside a player of Podolski’s calibre — he has 43 goals in 95 appearances for Germany — will help convince Van Persie that he can add to his solitary 2005 FA Cup winners’ medal.
Arsenal’s recent form is further encouragement and they host Aston Villa tomorrow having extended their winning streak in the Premier League to six matches following a hard-fought 1-0 success at Everton on Wednesday night.
Wenger’s side have recovered from their worst start to a season in 58 years to climb one point ahead of Tottenham and the Gunners boss is urging his players to see the task through to its conclusion with nine games left.
“What you want as a manager is improvement from the team and so if improvement goes in a spectacular way like it has for us, it’s great,” said Wenger. “It’s all about finishing the job now. I believe we have good ingredients because we are all on the same wavelength to play our games and the spirit in the side is good. That’s the most important thing now — to continue our development.
“I felt Arsenal always had strong spirit but you are questioned when you are mid-table and that’s why I feel this team were under pressure more than any other team. Maybe they have learned from that and somewhere it has tested our character and the response was positive.
“If you look at all the problems we had during the season and how we responded, I think the mental attitude was always right and correct. The end of the season will tell us where we stand but I am very positive the players will put the effort in until the end.
“We have to focus on how we want to play football. That is the best way to deal with the pressure — focus on how well you want to play and enjoy it.
“It is a privilege to play games of importance and they now become more and more important.
“There is something in the team because we have in the last two weeks secured six points on Merseyside [Arsenal beat Liverpool 2-1]. They were points where we had to show not only our football qualities but also our mental state was tested and that looks quite positive.”
Diaby will not be risked against Villa with Wenger preferring a cautious approach to his recovery from a hamstring problem despite scoring for the reserves on Tuesday.

The simple fact is that we hit firm when we were able to play a similar starting eleven week in,week out,instead of what had been happening.
Injuries have slowly begun to ease,and stability is much more important than any single player.
At least if you’d aimed up at Arshavin,it would have more credibulty,as his lack of passion and enthusiasm would be more damaging than anything Ramsey did,and our form certainly coincided with him leaving.
Again,I don’t even think Arshavin leaving had one bit to do with it.

I go your way regularly as I am often to be found heading westward toward the New Forest. I go to Arsenal with my brother and my wife. It was kind of my dad took my older brother, then he took me and now we go with his son. Continuing a long line and family tradition. Oddly enough though my mum came from Tottenham and her family were all Spurs supporters. If they had moved there and not to Highbury, where he lived, we would never be having this conversation and I would be even more bitter and twisted.

Hows the weather over there.
We’ve had a glorious day.
About 27 degrees,and just a wisp of cloud cover.
I have a big night ahead.
My Sydney Swans(Aussie Rules) are playing their first game of the season atm,followed by some great Premier League games,then off deep sea fishing in the morning.
Don’t mean to brag,but life is pretty good down under at present.
