Morning all.
The contract saga surrounding Arsene Wenger rumbles on, as it does for a few of our players. Contract talks are on hold until the summer for the likes of Ozil, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Sanchez and Wilshere but Olivier Giroud won’t need to worry as rather oddly, he’s already tied down until a summer far away. That doesn’t stop rumours about his future being spread though, nothing does these days but amidst the links to Marseille, in has popped his agent with his thoughts:
There is no contact between Marseille and us. At this point, there is no contact. Olivier wants to help his team qualify for the Champions League.
When we know exactly what Arsene Wenger is doing, we will ask ourselves questions. We will think about what is possible and what is not possible. Today when Olivier and I talk, there are no discussions about other projects. I believe that when you are at such a level, you first have to think about the club.
We are not going to talk hypothetically about if Inter Milan, Marseille, Napoli or Lyon are interested… his future is not only linked with that of the manager. It is linked to what Arsenal are going to do and if there is a change at Arsenal in terms of how Olivier is implicated at the project. Things have not changed since his contract extension.
Our desire is be at Arsenal long term. Olivier has been there for five years. The aim for Olivier is still to go as far as possible in this adventure with Arsenal to do great things there.
At some point, if the two are to separate, we will see. But it is not the intention of the parties.
Somehow that’s been translated into if Wenger goes, Giroud goes which would probably be true as unless some other manager coming in plans to stand by the big man, surely he’d be one of the first ones out the door. Yes, a great plan B striker you’d think and at times he has been but of late, he’s been woeful. For his size, he drops to the ground with the slightest of touches, he continually backs into defenders with elbows everywhere and then complains when he doesn’t get awarded a free kick. And don’t get me started on his lack of pace and movement. How many times was Alexis pointing the way for him to run on Sunday, but no, nothing. If Walcott’s movement is bad, Giroud’s is far worse but then when it comes to our attacking force, our general pass and move football is nonexistent.
Long gone are the days of watching something as similar as Freddie and Bobby continually swap sides to confuse the defence as these days it’s all far too static which is why we are such an easy team to defend against. Oh to have a proper winger or two in this team eh and someone who knows how to cross a ball. Maybe if we did, Ollie might actually nod a few more goals home.
Not only is there transfer speculation at this time of the season but for Arsenal, there’s a lot of talk about a Director of Football being employed. Plenty of names have been thrown into the hat with the latest being Hoffenheim’s Alexander Rosen who’s just 37 years old.
The move for a DoF at Arsenal for the time in history is believed to be part of the changes Ivan Gazidis wants to make. Back in 2013, Arsene Wenger was quoted as saying:
I would not work with a director of football because they buy the players and when it does not work you are guilty for not using them well.
So, if the club does employ either Rosen, or one of Overmars or Zorc, it might just spell the end of the Frenchman.
One can only hope eh.
Excuse me for putting this up but it’s worth a try

I wrote this on the petition started yesterday already 531 have signed and donated a small sum or bigger.Arsenal have been part of my life for over 60years, loyal always to my team, I have made some fantastic friends, been through highs and lows, I accept that, there is no given right to win trophies. However how this club has transformed in the last few years has led to an image of just corporate greed, not a second thought for us fans. The ones that line your pockets. Opinions vary to whose responsibility it is, but for me, you’ve changed the fabric of our once proud club, the integrity – the class – the Arsenal way was once revered, not now. We are a laughing stock, your mantra your model has destroyed our club my club, our own fans are split and this is manifesting into a horrible vitriolic atmosphere.
Please please go now and let us salvage our club
Thanks Rico.
“I would not work with a director of football because they buy the players and when it does not work you are guilty for not using them well.”
We`d be well and truly fcuked then if Wenger himself became the director of football …………………not only that but so would whoever became manager having to rely on who Wenger bought !……………………….shit !……..that`s an option we haven`t considered and I was only joking !
🙁
Bonaroca:- I frequently make comments on Arsenal a team, that I have supported since 1946 when they were passing through a bad period. I have to admit that Mr Wenger has given Arsenal
something which was missing in the game and that of entertaining football instead of kicking the ball forward and hope for the best.
But unfortunately, while other clubs even those in the relegation zone are playing entertaining football but the present coaches have been able to counter and introduce other tactical systems.
In my opinion Mr Wenger has passed his time and this could be proven because while it depends on the players, the orders which system has to be played has to be from the Manager which unfortunately is in my opinion antiquated.
The Arsenal supporters who pay good money to watch Arsenal are definelly and rightly so disappointed because this season and I think ws an absolute let down.
There is no doubt, I am very sorry Mr Wenger has to call it a day when his contract is over. A new manager with new ideas and system has to be brought in. A
Admittedly, a couple of top class players have to be brought in, but all I am sure a new Manager will find enough talent before the season starts.
Just why I would hate him to go upstairs Lc. When he goes, he goes. Clean break and we move on..
Bonaroca. Have to agree. He changed us for the better and we’ve seen many a great player come in under his management but all the great stuff he did in his first ten years, he’s undone in his last ten…
I reckon many of our current crop would soon improve under better disciplined coaching.
I signed the petition, Kelsey.
I just wrote basically ……..Wenger In or Wenger Out, we all have one thing in common , we all want Kroenke Out !
Hello Bill , I too drift in and out of the postings because I am not chained to my desk top and where I live mobile signals are not reliable enough to use a mobile so this could be a long conversation
Firstly thanks for the ornithological education , however I was using that comment as an example of the way things have been for many a year now. Whilst I can accept your arguments that other teams have more money , I can’t swallow that it is the be all and end all of the situation. Wenger may have been the most successful manager that the club has had in modern times but also he has had the longest period to amass his trophy haul and sadly during the more recent years his records has not been that impressive. I remember him saying when he first arrived that a cup win was a lottery and depended on who you drew to play against, in some ways that does diminish his Cup wins but he can’t have it both ways we have been unlucky with our Champions league draws but not so much in the F.A cup ones especially this years.
We may not have been able to buy at the top of the market against the oil rich clubs or the merchandising juggernaut at Old trafford but none of the players that we have used regularly are bad players. From my lofty position in block 10 , I believe that I for the last 6 or so years especially after Fabregas left us I have seen a manager flogging a dead horse of a system and trying to mould players totally unsuited to it. A passing game that hogs the ball but rarely works the goalkeeper (using a sky pundit phrase ). often well in excess of 60% with about 5 shots on target. I see totally inadequate players trying to cross a ball to a fairly static forward mostly hitting the first defender . I see players used in wide positions that either can’t or wont take a man on and go past him , unless the ball is played in front of them they get to about the 18 yard box stop and come inside . I see the players touted to be our best playing games with each other, Ozil to Sanchez or Sanchez to Ozil mainly because they have little or no faith in anyone else. I grown tired at shouting at midfielders to follow men behind them as our full backs get left in 2 on 1 situations . These are just a few examples because tactically unless we have the ball we are hopeless and when we do have it we are too slow in an age where power and pace is the requirement for every other team in the division .
Lastly you ask for a period to adapt , well I have spent in excess of £ 6000.00 waiting for this manifestation , it’s not going to happen any more than the E.U could be reformed from the inside . They are committed to one path , under Wenger so are the Arsenal.
The period that we are entering could give us the answers we all seek I believe. Is Stan the nightmare that he seems? Is Wenger really going to brass it out when it must be clear that his support is limited to people who, on occasion, pop up on here to be unpleasantly sarcastic and to claim that black is in fact white and that our away record can be explained by the convenient mechanism of a ‘blip’.
This team and everything related to them, especially their performances are the responsibility of Wenger and he must surely stand or fall by their results. The degree to which the players are culpable is directly related to Wenger’s performance and I am sure we all have an opinion on that. But the idea, recently floated, that Wenger wants to sign a new contract but doesn’t want to irritate the fickle, whingers and moaners is so crass as to beyond intelligent debate. The reason for a new contract offer can surely not be about the fact that he has been around for over 20 years.
Good comments Potter/Adam.
Afternoon,
Re 10.30 comment, “I stumbled across this site after I had browsed all the good sites”, bleeding cheek!!
A.W is a fossil, old, deluded, no longer of this current era of young vibrant tactically astute elite managers. The more the unrest, the more the senile b…..d, will try to prove people wrong,
Wenger is now a poor manager, a shadow of his former self, out of ideas, unable to motivate a team to get up for a NLD, but I,ll say it again, we are helpless as fans, I read Le Groves post yesterday, and agreed it would be fantastic if the fans stayed away, it’s just not enough to protest and fly banners etc. Much more is needed, even for 1 bleeding match, would that be to much to ask the Fans who truly want change, let the Bills of this world continue to defend the indefensible, personally, I feel there,s nothing Wenger can do wrong that will change their minds, so as much as their entitled to their own opinion, I think it,s pointless getting into heated discussions with them.
Of interest, I read last night that apparently Perez was a Gazidis signing & Wenger not playing him to give a clear message. And people think the dictator will work with a D.o.F
Just what I thought Dublin. I’m sure Bill’s website is far better eh…
That’s interesting re Lucas Perez and if true, certainly explains why he’s not been playing much. How childish though if that’s the case and more evidence that Wenger is indeed a control freak..
If true Rico, it does reflect really badly on im, dark clouds could be assembling over the emirates in the coming months, seems early rumblings of a power struggle could be true,
Another planned protest for sunday 2 o clock, apparently.
Need to keep to band wagon rolling.
I know I’m not a regular poster, but have to say that Kelsey and everyone else mirrors my thoughts. I have supported Arsenal since appx 1969 and still remember my first match v Palace at Highbury. Like you guys, have had highs and incredible lows, but like all true fans stick with my team because they are in my heart forever. Recent events hurt badly because we have known such highs. For the sake of this fabulous club, I pray every day that I will look at the news to find he has resigned. Transition is traumatic, but it must be done with the benefit and improvement of the club as the number one priority. Disappointingly, we all know that the current owners’ priority is profit. He and Arsene need to take a long hard look in the mirror and realise that a club’s identity is first and foremost built from a loyal fan base. Fans who deserve a whole lot better than the lies and deceit that surrounds every day at the Emirates currently. Here’s hoping for a better end to the season and hopefully a new beginning come August.
Sure does Dublin, where did the story come from?
Db, until the ever frugal Wenger departs, I’m not convinced we can be sure that Kroenke isn’t prepared to give the manager vast amounts of money. We all know Wenger isn’t a spender and he doesn’t get involved in signing top players if another top club gets involved because of the high wage demands. Kante is one of many examples, as is Hazard….
Ivan once told us we’d moved to the Emirates to compete with the best and who’s to suggest he wasn’t telling the truth but what perhaps he didn’t bank on was Arsene Wenger not singing off the same hymn sheet.
Just my theory….
Bang on Rico – I believe that there is a mighty power struggle happening behind the scenes. I also believe that Sanchez has upset the dressing room with his petulance and moaning. I wouldn’t care if he and Ozil left as I just want players who will give 100% and are proud to wear the shirt. That’s why I think that Holding, Ox and Chambers are the type of players to take us forward – alongside one or two balanced ‘stars’.
Memz Keloğlu @Memz_Bey
Been told the same thing. Gazidis signed Perez and Wenger wasn’t happy about it
Memz Keloğlu added,
RIP Arsenal FC @SerialWUM
Perez was a Gazidis signing & Wenger not playing him to give a clear message. And people think the dictator will work with a DoF. https://twitter.com/Memz_Bey/status…….
Don,t know how true it is…..
Db. I wouldn’t be surprised either if there’s stuff going on at board level. I’d like us to keep Alexis as I think his behaviour is out of frustration because when he first arrived, there was none of it.
Ozil, well unless we are going to have nine other outfield warriors, his laziness is no good to us.
Thanks Dublin, nothing concrete then but it’s not hard to believe…
Afternoon Rico and the House.
Just a short visit.
This afternoon the U18’s are playing Man U away in their game in hand and after 30 mins are leading1-0 with a goal by J Willock
At the moment they are top
COY boys’s
Afternoon Rick, nice to hear some good news. The match is on Mutv but I’m not paying to watch that channel…
Tickets for the Sunderland match are now on general sale… Says a lot…
I’m not paying as well Rico.
There is now a new MU Apps which is free to download, IFF you live outside the UK but we cannot get it.
Its H/T and we are still in the lead 1-0
Rico watching the boys just lately has given me a big lift and I will be doing cart wheels if they become Champions
It would be great if they were champions Rick. At least one team would be doing the club proud…
With 10mins to go Willock has just made it 2-0
????
Finished 3-0 looks like Malen went off with a groin injury to me Rick.
Good result. Wonder if the big boys can do the same on Sunday….
Top of the table 1 point in front of the Chavs.
We play them away next Tues who wins that are the Champs
The U23’s are at home to ManU (live on the Player) on Mon
can we make it a hattrick.
Did you watch it BT, if so have we at last found a C/H (Olowu)
Dare I say it Ampadu manager next season
Its my birthday tomorrow have a few bottle of Prosecco lined up so I’m told
Rick, didn’t even know it was on till i saw your post, i managed to watch the last 10 minutes.
Didn’t see much of Olowu as Arsenal were dominating the match and Utd were not troubling the back line.
I reckon the Chelski match will be on their TV channel..
Enjoy your birthday celebrations Rick..
I’ve just been reading the Thoughts of Chairman Bill, before he strides off manfully to all the ‘good sites’, I wonder which ones he means?
Potter, you know you’ll never get that job now, that you dreamed of getting in Norwich Zoo…
I wonder if Bill is a season ticket holder?
Hey Rick, Happy Birthday for tomorrow mate…
Brilliant news about the U18’s…
I wonder if either or both of the Willocks have signed yet?
Happy birthday for tomorrow Rick. Have a glass of fizz for me… 🙂
Kev the only Zoo in Norwich is on the Barclay end at Carrow road . And the monkey’s run out of steam after 1 line of their famous chorus. ” on the ball city ” zmm, zmm, zmm, mmm,z
The Willocks weren’t Man Utd after them . Perhaps today’s result might stave them off for a bit. Great result it does seem we have some talent bubbling under , so someone must be doing something right. Against all odds.
Great stuff from our Willocks in the youth teams and not so great stuff from the Pillocks running the club !……………………..if only our Pillocks were as good as our Willocks !
Mourinho has said he could play an under strength side on Sunday. Yeah right!!
That will probably depend on the score from tomorrow night`s game, Rico………………lose heavily and he could indeed play an under strength team !……………………although the way we play an under strength team could still beat us !…………………..could be a superb nail in Arsene`s coffin though, not that I would like to lose against one of the most hated teams (along with bindippers) after the spuds !
🙂
I thought the same Lc. If they win 5-0, he’ll play the big boys..
I’m off guys, night all…
Morning all,
Bill,
If the manager signs on for another 2 years, what should happen in 2 years time? It’s pretty obvious that there is no contingency plan in place, otherwise the current manager/Board would be making noises as such. Something would have leaked to the media. And it’s too late now, one would think, for a top notch gaffer to be eased in for next season. So The Arsenal is stuck with the current gaffer, until he feels it’s time to go.
There’s not exactly a mentality of ‘Who Dares Wins’ @ The Arsenal anymore. In fact, fan pressure has seen the current manger flinch, even make some changes ‘on the run’ that are just reactive not proactive Billy boy, those are the actions of a man who now feels he is under pressure for not getting the results he was originally brought in to achieve.
He’s gone Bill, & there is probably a part of the current manger that knows that, but he is too old & devoid of any real ideas of how to dig himself out of/re-invent himself to turn it around. The current manager is either deluded or gone stupid. And when he goes, & Bill he will one day, the people on this blog will still be supporting The Arsenal. Maybe you’re the type who will jump on the Spurs bandwagon once the current manager has gone?
What’s happen with Lucas Perez?
Max Allegri!!!
I’ll have what the Old lady is having 🙂
Me too GG I’ll have some of what he’s got , for the Arsenal. Yes please!
Choices, Allegri the Jardim, although I doubt we’ll get either. The unambiguous Arsenal will not pursue the ‘best’ they’ll go for the affordable just about okay kind of manager. Pound wise penny foolish, I think.
Lucas Perez is apparently injured although the story going round is that he was bought to the club by Gazisis and like joel Campbell is being frozen out.
Shameful if true…
Morning all.
Just a story I heard there are no itk sources.
Wouldn’t surprise me at all if that were true let’s be honest perez has shown himself to be very capable when givin a chance… how walnut and Giroud are picked before him this season I don’t know.
So if it’s true I’m fucking glad as it’ll show gazidis and co what a prick Wenger is. Imo….
Looks like Sanchez is off Atletico or Bayern in the mix.
Unless major changes happen at this club now this month we’re fucked for next season to.
Shambles. . .
I’ve seen it on Twitter Potter. The guy posting it is an AKB so it could be true.
I reckon Gazidis knows exactly what Wenger is about Kel.
Yes, looks like Alex is off if rumours are true…
Well Stan isnt that good of a business man if his most valuable asset is in turmoil the most valuable players in that asset are almost outta contract the most valuable stream of income (supporters) are pissed right off protesting and I’d say soon to be boycotting….
Wake up Stan you fucking idiot.
The share price will soon drop maybe Stan will get word via pigeon ffs…
Morning Rico and all. It looks like a team/squad rebuild to me. That could take a couple of seasons, basically because of bad planning and chronic inertia. What could possibly be the point of allowing Wenger the opportunity to set about that task?
With crippling predictability we are now told that we almost signed M’bappe last summer. Something weird about this recurring trend. If Alexis does decide to leave, which appears increasingly likely, I wonder if Arsene will try and live up to his promise of not selling him. Utter nonsense.
Thing is Kel. We don’t know what Stan or the board are up to right now. He and the board might have offered Wenger a new contract, they may not have. Right now we are just guessing I guess.. 😉
Morning Adam. He’s the last person who should be rebuilding the squad, after all, he is the one responsible for what it is today. I wouldn’t give him a penny to spend.
As for all the ‘I could have signed’ – all that does is prove what a buffoon he is. Missing out on quality players is nothing to brag about.
I get the impression they don’t know what the fuck they’re doing Rico. ?
Morning Kel. Yes, that does seem to be the case doesn’t it?
Wenger, I imagine, would see no reason for a rebuild and will apparently keep Ozil and Sanchez for the last year of their contracts. At a rough estimate this would cost about £80 million in lost transfer fees and about another £15-20 million in wages, bonuses etc.. So, about £100 million to keep a couple of uncommitted players to prove what?
Seems like nonsense to me and I doubt Stan would sign up for that one. Rightly so too. If Wenger is going in a couple of years and it’s a big IF, what could be the strategy of giving him an enormous amount of money to end up in the same situation in the near future? Unless of course the powers at the club honestly believe he is going to become rampantly successful.
morning to all the fans on this depressing website, even those deluded fools who are so convinced they absolutely know whats best and who keep congratulating themselves and each over their opinion that A.W should go. I strongly suspect that these people play football manager, or fifa regularly and under their direction arsenal win all the trophies, all of the time. a director of football at arsenal is a poor idea. first of all, it confirms that Ivan Gazidis is useless at courting players for arsenal, and how good a partnership A.W and David Dein were. secondly, with the use of good scouts, how good A W was and is at spotting and developing talent, and there is no one better suited to that role of spotting and developing talent as a football director, should he be replaced as manager. on Wenger’s buying and selling of players arsenals new stadium and training ground were built. make no mistake about this, Wenger’ was spied on for his methods and whereabouts on recruitment, and copied with more money added by other clubs. remember the disguise he wore to scout Reyes?
it is very sad to see someone who has spent over 20 years of his life living and breathing arsenal being vilified in this way (2nd last year, and beaten once in the F.A cup in four years). yes fourth place is not a trophy, but it is an achievement, and an achievement that many clubs would love.
be careful what you wish for arsenal fans, Fergie left Man. utd and look whats happened trying to find a manager that fits. Moyes and Van Gaal were considered top managers and are now laughing stocks. Mourinho isn’t going to have things all his own way either, and clubs can only put up with him for a couple of years anyway, the eye gouger. I keep getting phrases pop into my head when I read these blogs, like you don’t know what you’ve got until its gone, and forgive them lord for they know not what they do. I would also like to comment on people who say that he is only the most successful manager because hes been there so long, while conveniently forgetting that he spent some of those years without funding and was forced to sell players, and not recruit because of the new stadium. we still was top four through all that! I haven’t got all the answers, and I am frustrated, but I will always respect a fair and reasoned opinion, and I don’t ignore facts because it doesn’t suit my argument.
I stopped reading at moyes was considered a top manager…..???? bill the fountain of all knowledge.. David dein David dein.. bla bla bla consistently harping on about the past.. try thinking about moving forward and progressing and stop watching the premiership yrs on sky sports…
Not a mention of the quality of football, or a team lacking in motivation, or a lack of tactical acumen especially during games, and the same old tired ‘be careful what you wish for’ mantra.
Nobody is listening anymore.
Is Wenger the only manager you’ve known since you supported Arsenal Bill?
Morning All
Morning Rico
Adam, are you wearing your red hat?
Deep down, so do I Kel… 🙂
As for look what happened when fergie left… really? Well considering they were winning premier league’s and contesting champions league finals.. it was inevitable utd would take a dip you can’t win forever…
But I’ll promise you one thing they’ll be challenging next season.
Arsenal with wenger is a guaranteed won’t be… 4th to 6th…at best.
I am Kev and I have my red strides on too.
Bill. You suggest you would accept a fair and reasoned argument, but pray tell, what is your reasoned and fair argument for him staying and taking us to another level??
After all, we’ve been steadily getting worse over the last few years, so how do you expect Wenger to turn us into a force in the PL and across Europe?
I can’t wait for your answer….
Morning Kev. It’s entertaining though.
Let’s all sing…. ‘There’s only………… 😉
Rico. Agreed. Really funny stuff from him again.
There’s only one bill davis…one bill davis
..
Adam. What is it Lee often says, there’s a village out there with a search party….
Wrong song Bt. 😉
Brudder Lee is inimitable in his observational powers Rico.:)
He is Adam.
I guess we’ll have to wait until tomorrow morning for Bill’s wise words in response…
I think Bill makes some well reasoned valid points and God only knows what will happen to Arsenal when Le Prof departs……
Put a 5yr deal on the table to ward off PSG, Barca and Real….
Morning Lee. I imagine the club will sink into administration almost immediately only to be bailed out by David Dein.
The Akbs always attack with 2 things……
1) Be careful What you wish for…
2) football manager..( must think we’re all 15) ?
Arsenal atm lack fight, lack heart and they lack quality all over the pitch (who bought those players?)
90m spent last summer have we improved? so the argument of Wenger has no money is over he does/did but he has shown he is past it now.
5-1 again against Bayern… 10-2 on agg. Add that to the 6-0 8-2 5-1 over the past few seasons..well that’s not what I wished for .
I don’t expect to win but I’d like to at least challenge.. a new manager may not work he might finish 6th or 7th ( oh wait thats already happening) ?
Well I’m off back to work guy’s.. nice day for a postie ?
Actually Bill I tried to put our comments on a footballing level which is basically what the club is for. However can you defend his tactics and the way he sets up to play certain games. I will be in block10 this Sunday if you are there I would like to discuss your views face to face. Don’t worry I am quite civilised aged 69 and unlikely to bite.
Rico, i found Master Davis’s post both enlightening and thought provoking,so much so, i thought he deserved his own song..
Now i shall go and play fifa 17 the AW Edition….
BT. You be careful what you wish for. 🙂
Adam, it’s too late, i have a Black GTI awaiting my attention outside…
Ha ha Bt.
New post up now.
no decent discussion here only derision and snide comments, throw your toys out of the pram, give up your season tickets. cant handle or respect a different view. for the record, ive been through some sparse times as an arsenal supporter, I was 13 when arsenal played 3rd division Swindon in the 1968 league cup final. I was in bits when the arsenal squad came down with flue just before the game, and despite bobby goulds last minute equaliser, we lost 3-1. so for those of you who have to take their shoes and socks off to count to more than 10, that makes me 62. so Arsenes reign doesn’t cover half of my support. coyg
POTTER you seem like a reasonable arsenal supporter, I think ill take you up on that offer soon. but be prepared because I will ask you who you think would be a good fit to successfully manage arsenal?
Bill I was there a little before you my first match 1956 and I to have lived through periods of dross and jubilation , I said to my son when we went through the early Wenger years that he was to make the most of them because they would not last . Sadly they haven’t. .
My objections now to Wenger’s remaining is that I believe he has gone stale, I firmly believe that it is time for him to move on, . I know from personal experience how difficult it is to embrace new things as you get older and throughout the whole of my playing career I saw and played with people that had played at the top and many did not know when it was time to pack it in. I believe this is where the man is now there is no satisfaction in people deriding you saying that he used to be good. His style of football has been found out and although you mention he has switched to 3 at the back the underlying principle of his game has been rumbled and too many people have found the way to exploit it. You ask who I would like to manage The Arsenal and truthfully I can’t answer that with a long list of names . The point is that I don’t demand that we win something all the time but I do demand that I wish to see the club making forward strides showing commitment to improve and this has been lacking for a few years now.
If you have read my comments over the past few years you will know that I have been highly critical of the board since long before PHW left . I I was critical of the Dein/ Fiszman spat which eventually led us to the inertia that we are now in. It has led us to a position where it appears that Mr Wenger is omnipotent , where our board in London leave it all to him ( see Chips Keswick’s quotes ) and where we have a majority shareholder that has openly stated that winning is not a priority. I am sorry but I feel that something has to give and to start that we need new eyes and thoughts on the pitch itself. We are playing a system that is 6 years out of date , trying to ape the Barca style of short passing possession football, the trouble is we don’t have a Messi or a Xavi or an Iniesta and since Cesc left we have had nothing even close to them. New eyes , new ideas , utilising the players in their best positions and shipping out those that don’t cut it. That’s the manager’s job. and that’s all he needs to be involved in.
