Different season, same line.

Morning all.

“In this transfer period it is not easy to take players that can help us with better performances than we have now,” he said. “The club is working for different possibilities but it is not easy.

“They are private conversations [on Denis Suarez]. I don’t want to say to you what these conversations are.”

We have a high percentage of players in our squad who can be improved on. We must have because if they were that good, we’d be scoring more goals, conceding less and wouldn’t be losing matches against the likes of West Ham or Southampton. We wouldn’t have been battered at Anfield either. Unless Unai Emery has just admitted that the squad is really good but his managerial skills aren’t. He can’t have it both ways surely?

I guess his comments about Denis Suarez would suggest there’s truth in the rumours though but getting any deal over the line seems to be taking a lot of time.

The Mesut Ozil conundrum rolls on too after both Pires and Petit took a swipe at his attitude. Kind of. Both believe the German is bored, he’s won nearly everything there is to win in the game so there’s little left to aim for. Well, he hasn’t won the Premier League has he?

Tomorrow we face Chelsea and after a week, if not more of this whole Mesut Ozil saga being played out by the media, I reckon we’ll see him make an appearance. As a team we need his creativity, his ability two embarrass a defence with that magical left foot of his. He, Aubameyang and Lacazette together should be a trio to be feared and they can be if they wear the Arsenal kit with pride. To play football at this level should be a privilege. Not a chore. Not just going through the motions. Not for the kind of money they’re earning.

Ninety five minutes of blood, sweat and tears. That’s all we fans ask for from the players isn’t it?

Mind you, just like Emery’s words about finding players better than he already has, that’s been said before too…

Have a good Friday guys….

    A proper 6 pointer this one…….

Anything but a win and our prem season is over and a 6th place finish looking likely.

Pinning all our hopes on a Europa win again. Oh deep joy……..

I think we’ll just about cling on rico. Although I don’t rate our squad any better than Watford or West Ham

Hope to god the powers that be have the balls to pull the trigger on a total squad over-haul this summer.

Of the current bunch many we already know will leave and some need shifted.

Leno – not bad – willing to see how he develops.
    Cech – gone – 100k/w wages
Martinez – keep as back up I guess.
Ospina – I think his deal is up end of season – 40k/w

Back up keeper needed – Macey?

    Hector – keep
    Sokratis keep
    Holding – keep
    Monreal – 1 more year
    Mavrapanos – keep
    Kolasinac – keep
    Koscielny – release – 75k/w
    lichtsteiner – get rid – 35k/w
    Chambers – sell – £10mill – 25k/w
    Mustafi – sell – £20m – 90k/w
    Jenkinson – release – 45k/w

2 new CB’s, Back up RB needed
Promote Medley(maybe too soon) or pleguezuelo?

    Torriera – Keep
    Guendouzi – keep
    Xhaka – keep – I think…….
    Maitland-Niles – keep
    Iwobi – keep
    Elneny – sell – £5m – 55k/w
    Miki – sell – £10m – 180k/w
    Ramsey – gone – 110k/w
Ozil – Get rid any way we can but I fear it will cost us – 350k/w

Promote Smith Rowe and WIllock plus 3 new signings?

    Laca – keep
    Auba – keep
    Welbeck – gone – 80k/w

Promote Nelson and 1 new signing?

Outgoings could see approx £45mill transfer fees and £835k/w come in, plus whatever we can do with Ozil…..

Plus whatever is available for transfers from new sponsorship deals etc.

With a little bit of smarts in the transfer market his sort of money should see us able to strengthen considerably in my view. Question is do we trust the circus that is our club hierarchy to get it right…………….

I obviously putting a lott of faith in our youngsters making the grade. I think they have to for us to stand any chance of progression in the near future.

That’s the million dollar question Lewis and we’ll only find out by seeing how things unfold over the next few months and then the summer.

  6. Cicero says:

    Good morning Rico and others.

It’s hard to find something different to say every time a question is asked about transfers, although there is probably an old copy of Wenger’s hand book laying about entitled “HowTo Handle The Press And Avoid Answering Their Questions”. There’s probably a hint or two that may help contained within it. 😉

  7. rico says:

Morning Cicero, not sure Wenger was good at handling the press, if he was he’d have said a lot less than he did..

Scott, how many chances does he need though?
