Dennis Bergkamp is returning to Arsenal. It’s not your money Arsene, so spend it!

Morning all.

I had a weird old dream last night. Arsenal related of course and I bumped into Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott – both told me they were leaving the club. I begged Alexis not to go but he said he, Theo and a few others were being sold to raise money. Theo was heading to France, with Lens I think and I wished him well. Then along came Arsene Wenger who confirmed the moves and said there would be others. In anger, it all poured out, as I told him exactly what I thought of him. He didn’t care, I woke up… Odd eh….

Anyway, on the September 3rd, a team of Arsenal Legends take on a Milan Glorie side at The Emirates and our old Dutch master is coming back to represent his old side. Not only him though as Thierry Henry, Robert Pires, Freddie Ljungberg will be joining a old boy reunion. For Milan, we can expect to see the likes of Inzaghi, Maldini, Baresi and Cafu lining up, so it should be an entertaining match to watch….

Henry, Bobby, Freddie – just three players who seriously contributed to Arsenal being a great attacking side. Henry would destroy defences with his pace a incredible finishing whilst Bobby and Freddie would cause all sorts of problems playing out wide. Not only that though, they both had a super knack of getting into the box at the right time and in the right place which so often resulted in a goal.

But funny enough, neither in my opinion were out and out wingers but what they were, was smart, clever and had a proper footballing brain. And of course, they had oodles of quality players around them, none of which I need to mention because right now, you are reflecting back to those days and struggling to understand why it’s not the same right here and now.

But I guess all the time Arsene Wenger treats Arsenal’s money like its his own, nothing will change. He’ll make do with who he has and fit them in, rather than buying a player for a specific position. We have loads of midfielders but are any of them a master at their role, the closest perhaps are Xhaka and Elneny and Coquelin. Santi is a great little midfielder too but before he was given a different role by Arsene Wenger, I’m not convinced defending was his natural game. Although Arsene got lucky, it worked.

Wenger needs to remember who the money belongs too and where an awful lot of t has come from and that’s from us, the fans. Even the mega television money really because without people signing up for Sky TV or BT TV, I doubt there’d be quite so much money in the game.

The reality is, a player who once may have cost around £10 million, will now have a figure twice the size attached to him. Equally, a £25 million player will now be around the £50 million mark and Wenger has little choice but to pay the going rate.

But no he won’t says the media. He wants Lacazette but won’t pay what Lyon are asking…

In which case, we’re doomed…

Finally, well done to Wales. Super performance and a much deserved 3-1 victory. Such a shame Aaron Ramsey will miss the semi-final after picking up a booking, I think his country will seriously miss him as he’s been excellent. Mind you, so has Ashley Williams. Why oh why did we never sign him when we had a chance….

What a stunning goal Hal Robson-Kanu scored last night, hard to believe he’s available on a free contract. Surely Arsene wouldn’t be interested, after all, he let him leave for Reading back in 2004….

Have a good weekend guys, I’m off to the coast for a week and hopefully Wath will be around by Monday or Tuesday. So until then, sorry if any comments get stuck in moderation…

Rick, Ginge, Coach, looks like this could be beneficial to both clubs?
    From the Witney Gazette;

OXFORD United are hoping Dan Crowley’s arrival is just the start of a link with Premier League giants Arsenal.

The highly-rated midfielder signed a season-long loan yesterday and two more players are due to train with the Sky Bet League One newcomers later this month.

Michael Appleton has sought to instil an attractive playing style since coming to the club two years ago, which particularly caught the eye during a successful campaign last season.

The U’s head coach believes the club have gained a reputation for developing young talents and is keen to develop a relationship with the Gunners.

He said: “I’d like to think they’d be aware of what we’ve been doing over the last 16 months.

“Hopefully they are happy sending players to us as part of their development pathway of trying to break into their first team.

“There are a couple more players who will come and train with us at the back end of July, although there’s no guarantee they will stay with us.

“They will come for a week or so to have a look at us and we’ll have a look at them.”

United have enjoyed a good record in the loan market in the past year, but a tie-up with Arsenal would catapult them on to a different level.

The Crowley deal was helped over the line by one of last season’s loanees.

Jordan Graham played only six games before being recalled by Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he made a big impact and earned a new long-term contract.

Crowley, who has played with the winger in the England youth set-up, said: “I spoke to Jordan Graham and he only said positive things about the players and the manager.

“I can’t wait to get started into competitive football.”

The midfielder, who turns 19 before the start of the season, got a first taste of senior football by playing 13 games for Barnsley last season.

Crowley is relishing the thought of playing regularly over a whole campaign and believes the similarity in styles between his parent club and the U’s will speed up the process of settling in.

He said: “The gaffer here wants to play – Arsenal have seen that and want their players to go and experience that.

“Last season was a massive learning curve, on and off the ball.

“Physically and mentally I’m hopefully a better player. I can’t wait to get started.”

I follow ur writeups a lot and I like what you write, but on some of the players mentioned today, that is football for you. Pogba was practically thrown out o ManU, now they would pay through their noses to have him back. Hal Robson is a good player and ilike what he brings to a team, but do we need him now cuz he’s scored one good goal?

  3. Peter12 says:

Buddy, I agree with your sentiments but only partially. There has been too many Hal Robsons slip out of our possession. Furthermore I would claim (barring perhaps Alexis) we do not have a player who could have turned in the box with three Belgian players around him and find the bottom goal in the corner in one move. When we play against packed defences we need a player such as him desperately. How many games we ended of frustrated because of such talent.

  4. Armin says:

Sadly we are not a team that fights for each other but we are individuals that is why we lack consistency. Wenger will let disappoint us again, he’ll sign the Japanese youngster and then that will be it.

  5. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning Lovelies and Hunkies.

Good post boss. but not a good dream imo.

I do not give a rat’s arse who is sold…..it can even be the best players…….only if we get someone better. no faffing about with the money and penny pinching.

Do I care if Alexis leaves if someone who is younger and better comes in??? Do I care if Theo goes and we get a proper footballing winger???

take this geezer from Japan. is he any good??? 20 goals in 85 games playing as a striker??? or is he going to be bought to make money from shirt sales??

  6. Hell Raising Devil says:

DB10 returns is poignant imo. The last time he played at the Ems was during the first game at the stadium and it marked a long time without a trophy. I hope his arrival heralds a new era of more trophies now.

  7. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Portugal will reach the final…
    Well done to Wales.
    No Lacazete too?
    enjoy your holidays rico

  8. obi says:

Bussy it wasn’t just the goal. Did you see how hard the guy worked all game? His movement and runs were exceptional. Rico, on Ramsey sure he had a good game. But his inability to push up and his lack of positional awareness led to Belgium’s goal. I guess he taught he was playing for Arsenal for a moment. ..lol.

  9. Le Coq Monster says:

    Have a great holiday Rico ! 😀

I love these subtle digs from BvD on JM`s link !……………………………………………….

When Gundogan signed for City, the club’s official Facebook included the following pointed comment:

” The midfielder, who is currently suffering from a knee injury, will leave the eight-time German champions in the summer to join Manchester City, who finished fourth in the English Premier League last season, on 1 July 2016.”

And on Saturday, news of Mkhitaryan’s transfer was announced thus:

” Borussia Dortmund would like to wish Henrikh Mkhitaryan all the best for the upcoming season in the Premier League and the UEFA Europa League.” hahaha

  10. allezkev says:

Well well well, Germany miss two penalties on the bounce, and Italy now miss two, ?

Nice to see someone else suffering for a change…

  11. Wavy says:

Ozil and Xacha should never ever, ever take any penalties for Arsenal, no matter what the circumstances!
Well done the krauts, hard luck the azurri. Still class will out!……bloody hell!

  12. Le Coq Monster says:

And I was in quicker than Ornstein ! 😀

Where`s Goonie ?………………I want him to tell me how much better Takuma Asano is than Mkhitaryan in his usual frenetic manner . 😀

  13. frednerk says:

    Morning All

    Wow….After a tense week and a bit..Hooray
We got him…all we need now is is a defender.

    Great being a gooner….in’it

  14. Wavy says:

    Three in……..three out………!
That’s it then, the books are balanced.

Morning all. Welcome to Wenger’s world!

Oh joyous day another signing. Just one question, is this new forward better or worse than Sanogo?

  15. Malaga gooner says:

    Morning all

    I’m not surprised either Wavy

It’s not going to be his last season, he’s going to be allowed to build another failed squad

    Very disappointed with club again

  16. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Afternoon Lovelies and Hunkies.

Ladies and Gentleman we got him.

I dread to think what will happen if someone insults Takuma in the same way as that thug who insulted Eric the Emperor…….

  17. Le Coq Monster says:

It`s very generous of Arsene to explain his reasons why he buying our new Japanese marketing ploy …………………………

Wenger said: “Takuma is a talented young striker and very much one for the future.

“He has had an impressive start to his career in Japan and we look forward to him developing over the next couple of years.”

but it would be nice of him to let us know what he has or if has anything lined up for the present as we are always caught up in present of waiting for his future gambles to pay off !………..be interesting to see who of the past was meant to be of the future today that still hasn`t won us the league yet !……………….fcuk !………I just read my last sentence back and not sure I know what I`m talking about myself !. hahaha……………………………………anyway, just spend some fcuking money on some top talent for now !………..fcuk the future as sometime in it I will die !

  18. Le Coq Monster says:

Sorry for shocking any of you about my eventuall death, but I have known about it for some considerable time..since I was born ! 🙂

  19. Wavy says:

Which leads me to suggest that Wenger probably spotted Takuma when he was managing Nagoya. He’ll have seen the ultra sound scan, liked what he saw as the embryos legs were kicking like a donkey, and thought to himself I shall sign this embryo up when he’s grown real legs! He likes to spot them young, does Arsene!
Not to mention he’ll be able to demand suchi be put back on the training ground menu again!

  20. Gd10 says:

You can wake up in the morning full of sunshine and joy, ready to take on the world and grasp happiness.

Then you can bet your life on it that arsenal football club will do something to fucking piss you off.

I somerimes wonder if I was bad in a past life and my punishment is arsenal purgatory in this one.

Clearly have the resources to be the best (or there about) deliberately try not to be.

Its the hope that kills you.

  21. Le Coq Monster says:

I just hope Rico is having a great time on holiday and that she hasn`t had to kick sand in some Spuds face on the beach after hearing about our new signing !

  22. tsgh says:

Good morning Kev, Jm, Dev and all…

Dev, you know OG12 is rubbish. 😛

Kev, I think the Crowley move will be beneficial for all 3 parties..

  23. Marshall says:

    Hi all.
Only one more signing left. I say it will be a teenager, who wonna bet on that? Wenger is still the man to take us forward. Might go on holiday like Rico ’till Wenger retires.

  24. Le Coq Monster says:

    Afternoon all.

Not sure how the Crowley move benefits the Tories, Labour and the Lib Dems !

I also think that Wenger has been on full paid retirement holiday for the past 11 years !……more money than he could ever spend !…………….manager of our favourite team !……………get`s in free !………..free programme and he reads the team of which he picked !……………….gets to towel flick the players arses !………..etc` etc` etc`………………….would you leave under such conditions ?. 😀

  25. tsgh says:

🙂 LC well you left out the Libertarian Party and the 4th party…AKB. 😉

Good to see CJ25 recovered and ready to fight for the RB position.

  26. allezkev says:

Seems as if Jon Toral could be farmed out on loan, to Spain, for next season…

What’s the fcuking point of that then?
Fattening him up to flog him no doubt…

It’s makes you wonder where Hector Bellerin would be today, if Debuchy hadn’t got injured, probably playing for Espanyol…

But Wenger wastes time and money on a useless bum like Sanogo…!

  27. Wavy says:

But he’s just bought a Poundland bargain buy with a Walkman! Why would he want to keep Toral around, drawing our/his precious resources?!
No wonder our kids struggle to break into the first team, they’re never on site to claim their right!

  28. Hell Raising Devil says:

    Good Morning Lovelies and Hunkies.

Toral farmed out to Spain on loan??? That means that another midfielder could come in. Or that Theo is going to be kept. Toral could have played on the right of midfield and would have complemented Bellerin on that side.

And what does AW do??? Go out and buy a Jap Geezer who, IF, he is any good to warrant a place on the bench as a sub in case the original sub is hurt, will jet all over the world when his team plays.

I think its got something to do with DNA. Maybe AW checked and found no traces of Barca or RM dna in Toral which means they will not buy him back…….thus no profit to be made on him.

  29. Hell Raising Devil says:

Good Evening in your case Scott.

If Toral is competing for a central midfield spot than it is very crowded there as he has Xhaka, Coquelin, Cazorla, Elneny, Aaron, Jack. That is 6 players for two places. If one were to take Aaron out of the equation and rotate him with Ozil than it still leaves 5. And when Jack injures himself that still leaves 4. So game time could be tricky.

However Toral could have competed for the RW spot in the team as he can also play there.

The most important thing is to tie him to a new contract rather than let him go for free next year.

  30. Lee says:

I see Jack posting pictures of himself doing chin ups on social media…… I suppose at least it wasn’t pictures of his jewel encrusted bidet, thank the lord for small mercies!

  31. Le Coq Monster says:

Jacks injury record !……………..chin ups in a shower cubicle !…………..only one outcome there !.

  32. Le Coq Monster says:

If true, the £220k per week is probably why Wenger didn`t go for Mkhityran !………………you see guys and girl, all this bollox that players want CL football more than the money is blown out of the water !………………..£220K gets you players who dream of Europa League !………..you get to play more often, have Saturdays off and get to watch Sevilla lift the trophy !

  33. Wavy says:

I envisage a soap on a rope accident about to befall our luckless mid fielder! Especially if he bends over to pick it up after he’s just dropped it!

Morning all. We have a peacock in the garden! Again!

  34. Wath says:

    Morning you lot………..

You’ll be treated to a stunning post by moi today seeing as the Lady of the house is sunning herself on a beach somewhere in the tropics….

Oh the joys of a no news Arsenal day..! Not surprising though but then again it’s only early July and Arsene earning a crust at the euro’s to top up his dwindling bank account and players are all on hold still or also at the euro’s.

Shame, they have such a hard life.

  35. Wavy says:

Too true re the noise, and they’re really vain, they just love looking at themselves in any reflective surface! I think I’ll give it a comb!

I do like the idea of ear plugs Wath especially to avoid the demanding calls from my good lady wife!!

Perhaps Wenger needs a peacock, then he may have something to crow about!!! (Mixed metaphor?)

  36. Wath says:

Very apt Wavy…. All Wenger crowing about is politics at the moment perhaps trading would be a good thing to concentrate on for a few weeks.

As for noise and really vain are you referring to Jack or the peacocks Wavy…….

  37. Wath says:

Problem is mate is that the one and only real player though and are we to be left scratching our heads once again at our ineptitude in the transfer market…. Still early days but one pro-active purchase doesn’t solve the problem we all hoped a few deals early doors would have been done so the squad is settled and we all get on with concentrating on a flying start..!
