Defender signs because another leaves, Winger is definitely on his way in IF his Father gets his wish..…

Last week we heard that George Brislen-Hall had been told he can find football elsewhere but  then, yesterday, Young Guns confirmed that he hasn’t left, in fact he’s signed a one year extension to his contract and this was all made possible because of the departure of actor come footballer, Tom Cruise.

Strange that one….

One player who really could be on his way to our club is one of Theo’s old mates, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – if you believe all that his father Mark writes, it’s not a case of if, it’s a case of when in the next few days….

Ex Midfielder Mark Chamberlain believes his son should join Arsenal in order to continue his development.

Considering where he was at the beginning of the season and end of last season, to have the clubs we’ve been hearing about looking at him, he’s made great strides.

But watching him and watching his performances I think it’s well deserved. He’s only going to get better.

A lot of people speak to me and say maybe it’s too soon, look at Theo.

But for me I think Theo’s doing fantastic, he’s developing as a player, he’s still developing and he’s only young.

To develop at a place like Arsenal can’t be a bad thing. In my eyes, I’d like him to go there as soon as possible, and continue his development.

So, looks like we could be signing a winger in real soon, that is of course if Wenger wants him and my bet is he will.

He’s young, English and add to that what has been said by the players Dad.

Something has to be going on, doesn’t it?

Another player who is calling out for Wenger to sign him isMadjid Bougherra, the Rangers defender has been linked to us before but now he says he is keen to get back into the Premier League. Bougherra is 6′ 3″ and he’s known to have played a few games in the central defensive midfield position.

That’s about it for today, other than Gallas telling the world that he is still a fantastic defender and Arsene Wenger should never have let him go! Didn’t Arsenal offer him a contract extension but he wouldn’t sign it?? Anyway, who cares what he has to say!

Have a good one all, hopefully we’ll soon get some real news soon…..

    Morning all

I forgot to include the story about Bolton chasing Bassong as Cahill looks to join Arsenal….

You just couldn’t make this stuff up could you 😉

  2. Steve Palmer says:

    Morning rico,
Sounds a bit like a pinball machine at the moment, maybe when LeFrog gets back we may have some Proper News,

  3. rico says:

    Morning Steve, arsenal fan..

When is he due back, anyone know??

Re Gevinho, it’s prbably not true, just paper/twitter talk…

  4. rico says:

What a muck up the club made with Cruise and Brisen-Hall, are either really going to make it? The latter, if that good would surely be signing for more than one year if he really was in with a chance…

  5. allezkev says:

    Morning all:
    Mark Chamberlain, “continue his development”,
what Chamberlain senior forgot to add was “before he moves onto an ambitious club that actually wins trophies”.
Arsenal = Nuvo Ajax – feeder club.

  6. Steve Palmer says:

With all these players being linked to us this £40mill transfer kitty of ours which is really £20mill has got to go a long way, methinks AW will surprise us with a couple of unknowns i just can’t wait. With one defender acquired, only need a winger and yes another Mid Fielder now.

  7. allezkev says:

    Morning Rico.
I like Jones, Dalglish looks to be putting together a usefull squad, seems he realises that a top-four finish this season, is vital… Wonder which currant top-four club he views as the most vunerable???

  8. rico says:

The way Dalglish is going, he’ll be taking Liverpool to their first PL title….

As it stands right now, i think top four will be without us..

  9. rico says:

Rio Ferdinand is following in Barca footsteps, he’s started the ‘Nasri would be a great addition’ comments….

  10. arsenal fan says:

daglish , is thinking of the right way getting to young english players who will only improve….
wish we went for young and cahill that would be a real signal of intent from us … but it isnt looking that way….

  11. arsenal fan says:

but one things for sure …
patience is the key to success
players mature at the age of 23-28
if we hold onto nasri , fabregas get one solid cb and one more proven goalscorer ,we will be dominating for many years to come….

  12. goonerstan says:

Anyway any new signing will do….as long as I see the backs of densickner….morning rico…how true is the gervinho rap…what about hazard? Oh to be a gooner….

  13. rico says:

    hi goonerstan

we can’t accept just ‘anyone’ – we are better than that and should be adding quality to this current crop. at the same time though, shift the deadwood…

  14. rico says:

Looks like Fergie is about to announce the capture of Young, £20 Million….. The Daily Mail….

  15. rico says:

goonerstan, Citeh are also reportedly interested in gervinho now, so they will outdo us in the wages department no doubt….

  16. Joaquim moreira says:

    Good morning!
Nasri did not play yesterday (?)
Gameiro played from the start and scored a good goal.
    Daiby entered.
Gallas did not play and then said he would never represent a selection of France. hmmm …. in my opinion, should not have good shape, at least …
    ahhh… and Evra also played

  17. Will says:

NOU CAMP legend Johan Cruyff insists Barcelona must sign Cesc Fabregas – so they can get even BETTER.
Former Barca player and coach Cruyff is adamant the Champions League winners need to add strength in depth.
Arsene Wenger is desperate to keep Fabregas at Arsenal.
But Cruyff believes signing the Gunners star, 24, would mean midfield stars Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta and Xavi can be kept fresher during the season.
The Dutchman, 64, said: “If Cesc signs there will be four players for three places, which means all of them can share out a lot of games.
“There comes a stage in the season when everything is at stake but the team is out of gas.
“As good as the Barca players are – and they are good – there comes a time where they’ve played too many games.
“You need players not only to strengthen competition but also to move things around without upsetting the team’s rhythm.”

  18. goonerstan says:

I heard rednose is about to scuttle our deal for ricky alvarez…why are we stuck with a coach that takes all the time in tthe world to sign…….SKILLASHIT….look at fergusnose…he just won the championship yet he’s first in the transfer market….I have had it up to here with wenger’s ineptitude…

  19. Steve Palmer says:

We have to be realistic, moneys a problem in today’s market, we appear to be a top premier league outfit, we have gate receipts on home games of £3mill but we act as poor, that is the way its been since leaving Highbury so if we want new players we will have to sell, but to buy good players today we are talking bundles, which means selling a couple of top players to buy two top players or buying four not so good players which option do you think we will take. Sell Cesc and Nas Or just one and get two mediocre players, so far we have acquired a mediocre 19 year old defender, and offloaded fringe maybe’s its started anyway.

  20. Will says:

Steve, I would love to ask the owners: Are we a big club or just a small one punching above their weight?

  21. goonerstan says:

Gervinho only wants to play for arsenal…I think. Citeh though are also in the champions league….men that puts a damper on things

  22. brian says:

Surprised that the comments about the French game yesterday did not mention the introduction of the French young player of the year candidate called Martin who looked a real live wire and scored a couple of cracking goals.Imagine our media’s reaction if this had been the debut effort of a young English player.Admittedly another mid-fielder is not our biggest priority but he looks such a talent that Wenger{who was shown commentating on the game}should seriously chase him.Incidentally calculations of our available transfer kitty should be considerably increased by in-coming money from the sale of Bendtner,Denilson,Rosicky,Vela,Almunia etc not to mention a huge sum for Fabregas and perhaps Nasri.

  23. goonerstan says:

just like lee…..the excitement is beginning to wane….if we can’t sign players like gervinho…how on earth are we going to attract top talents like hazard…I see us dropping out of the top four….no wonder NASRI wants to leave

  24. rico says:

Hi JM, other than his goal, did Gervinho play well??

Hi Will, JC’s comment is just one of many we will have to suffer until the end of the window..

Re the Mancs and Alvarez, we need to hope the news about him already signing for us is true..

    Won’t know until July 1st….

  25. rico says:

Hi brian, do you think wenger will get to spend all of the money if he sells big.

i think we can assume that Nik, Rosicky Almunia, Denilson and maybe Eboue are on their way, but that should get us about 20-25 Million.

i’m still hoping that cesc and nasri stay, but should they be sold, that’s a whole lot of money for him to spend, if he’s allowed to….

  26. Steve Palmer says:

Good comment of yours there Will makes a lot of sense that statement.
I think our results with with the investment we have made says we are punching above our weight.
We have a new young defender, we have Bartley and Miquel three ready or almost ready to take up the reins, i can see suidgy on his way kosi to stay vermin to stay JD to stay, can we afford another defender on our books, so a defensive mid a maybe, Lansbury and Myachi will be tried in the tour say one of them moves up we can afford to lose Rosiski if Theo moves up by the side of Robin we wont need a striker, Bendy going to make room, depending on Cesc and Nas, i cant see big spending

  27. Will says:

Just had a look at Jeorge Bird’s Arsenal Youth and explains a lot about why we are letting players leave.

  28. rico says:

    Will,

I think Wenger mentioned that before the season ended, he said the squad would need to be trimmed, this will take place every summer now – our squad seems to have 5/6 all at the same age too making it even harder for players to get through…

  29. Will says:

It is about the age restrictions on the main squad. makes sense really.

I think we could lose 7 over 21 players quite easily.

  30. Will says:

Rico, the one mistake Wenger made was getting in loads of players at the same age. I am surprised that a man as clever as Wenger didn’t see this coming.

  31. rico says:

Thats what i mean Will, as the youth get over 21, they either replace one of the 25 or have to go if not good enough or ready….

  32. Will says:

I think the entire playing staff and the infrastructure of the way the squad is put together needs looking at.

  33. Steve Palmer says:

Mind you will, if you have these lads for a couple of years we should have some idea who to move on

  34. rico says:

Ane he’s just bought two more 16 year olds, how many does that make – just look at the list i posted the other day, we have far too many….

how much do we pay them, and we wonder why he says he cannot afford ‘proper players’…

    crazy!

  35. Will says:

The problem as I see it is. We get loads in at the same age which will lead to bottle-neck once they reach 18. We pay them far to much and, Wenger says we create the players but, we still have to pay them market rates once they reach a certain level.

I mean, Fabregas doesn’t say “I have been here since I was 15, I love playing for Arsenal and only want £20k a week” does he? No, he still wants top whack because he knows he will get that or more if he goes.

So getting them n young does not save money in wages at all.

  36. goonerstan says:

is there any way out of this…seven years and counting….this last season was particularly painful….losing to Birmingham felt like the end of the world..losing to barca back in 06 didn’t hurt this much…

  37. Will says:

Not until Wenger and the board realise the youth way only is not the way to go.

By all means, get the youth coming through but those players need experienced players to guide them and also, to protect them when the going gets tough.

  38. Steve Palmer says:

I think the flaw is Will, if you take all the young talent at a young age, (some of those i read somewhere said they started off with about £60 a week,) hope fully by the time they reach the desired age would have matured into a future Cesc or similar, although their wages would have gone up, still wouldn’t come near what it would cost to buy a Cesc now, the flaw is not every one turns out like a Cesc and that is the flaw. Also training these young lads, they must have exams as well, and if they need thinning out should be graded by exams, to make them try harder, if you fail your yearly exam your out. Ideas like that would sort the wheat from the Chaff make it a fight from start to finish and the reward at the end of the fight is a first team spot. Not just written exams but skills fitness even growth rate every attribute to make a footballer.

  39. Will says:

Steve, I said in an entry a while ago. We need to use the academy to instil the winning mentality in them. All we hear is the academy is about football growth, not winning. I am sorry, what is the goal of any game?

  40. goonerstan says:

Hazard would make a wonderful signing…if only he get off his butt and spend some fucking money

  41. Steve Palmer says:

GoonerStan, better buying, better training, a fat Arshavin ridiculous, A defensive coach employed, and a Hypnotist.

  42. W.A.T.H says:

Mr egotistical will buy who he wants at “cheap” prices and give us the same old shit abt star names don’t mean star players etc etc and he was so so close to Cahill n Young but they were to expensive….. Blah blah blah….!

  43. Steve Palmer says:

Will, some players have that winning mentality, Jack has it, apart from having a good football brain he also possesses that never say die attitude chases for every ball, the trouble with players like jack is playing alongside players without the same attributes starts to tell on you and they end up the same.

  44. goonerstan says:

A FAT ARSHAVIN……that’s hilarious….a defensive coach will be ideal but u and I know that’s not gonna happen….say who was the defensive coach enroute to the 06 champions league final….he needs to be brought back to teach this current crop a thing of two

  45. Steve Palmer says:

What happened last year is a prime example, every body started well, Arshaven gave the ball away many many times but never chased back, it slowly crept through the team and reslts started to show that. Also didn’t help that Vermin was out and our replacements were not good enough and let soft goals in, goalkeeping was also suspect not helped by injuries, but if we did score and then let a soft goal in made many heads go down, in the end we had good leads but a soft goal affected the whole team. A strong disciplined defence with a Captain at the heart of it directing is a must and i would spend any money we have on installing that

  46. W.A.T.H says:

I have to disagree with you there Steve, re Jack, having crap next to you and players without the same mentality as you doesnt make you go to their level or think like them it simply makes you leave to play with players who think like you do..!

  47. goonerstan says:

I just wish that for once he would just man up and accept he made a huge mistake tearing apart the invisibles..incase he hadn’t noticed we went down hill after then….spend some fucking money dammit….

  48. Will says:

Steve, I have said, we need an organiser at the back, someone who shouts and pulls players physically into position. No one does that.

  49. Will says:

Who would you get rid of from this list?

    1) Manuel Almunia (age 34)
    2) Abou Diaby (age 25)
    3) Bacary Sagna (age 28)
    4) Cesc Fabregas (age 24)
    5) Thomas Vermaelen (age 25)
    6) Laurent Koscielny (age 25)
    7) Tomas Rosicky (age 30)

    16) Lukasz Fabianski (age 26)
    17) Gael Clichy (age 25)
    18) Andrey Arshavin (age 30)

    23) Armand Traore (age 21)
    24) Nicklas Bendtner (age 23)
    25) Pedro Botelho (age 21)

  50. Steve Palmer says:

If Cesc were to leave which i hope he doesn’t the armband would probably fall to Robin What fucking good is it up there

  51. BT62gooner says:

Hi,another crappy transfer window ahead, will be very surprised if we sign anybody of any real importance.I think we are now a club more concerned with reducing debt and trying to stay in the top4,which is becoming harder every year because others are prepared to spend money and take risks.Just a word on the defense while watching our return leg with Barca(Luckily i was at the home leg WHAT A FUCKIN NIGHT)on RTE Martin Keown was asked what Arsene did about defending answer NOTHING was the reply.PS does old Rednose worry about spending money?I think not!We can only hope the likes of Nasri stay and more established quality arrive and the deadwood piss off. AFFA!

  52. rico says:

    Will

    1) Manuel Almunia (age 34)

    22) Vito Mannone (age 23)
    23) Armand Traore (age 21)
    24) Nicklas Bendtner (age 23)

  53. rico says:

    Hi BT62

I’m getting less confident he will buy the players we need, just same old same old looming….

  54. Steve Palmer says:

BT69, Don’t jump the gun just yet, we don’t have a bad team at the moment, i know were all frustrated with how Wenger does Business, but don’t forget we were leading the league at one stage and were the last team in for the quad we also got to a cup final and we beat Barca Chelsea Utd, so were not that bad granted the others wasn’t that good either but we still managed to finish fourth, Wenger will no doubt come back with a player that we haven’t heard of before and we have another defender who i haven’t seen yet but things are not as bad as a WHAM just yet, see this window out and we get what we get, maybe a Ryo and Lansbury and who knows, Spending Millions will still not guarantee success and at the moment were not winning anything but we will i’m certain of that.

  55. W.A.T.H says:

SP, what you said abt players becoming lazy isn’t totally wrong what i would add is the ones with the right attitude and mentality mind get to the stage where they give up trying to carry the others….! In all the teams I played for you always had one or two passengers but we tried to make them pull their weight, if the majority are not pulling their weight when do you as a player think sod it I’ve had enough of this….! You then either go through the motions like you perceive the others are doing or you look to move on…! Will is right, the mentality is all wrong from the ground up, you play to win and if winning isn’t a problem as a youth how can you instill that in someone who thinks its just fine to compete…?

  56. Steve Palmer says:

I agree Wath If i was a manager and saw a player give up i would have no hesitation in selling him. I would have sold Arshaven And Rosiski Denilson straight away, Eboue is somthing else he tries his heart out and is liked a lot by the rest of the Squad, a bit of a character by the sounds of it but he makes some stupid mistakes, He would make me think a bit but in the end i would out him.

  57. rico says:

    🙂 Steve

I am surprised you would sell Theo Will, when Wenger finally wakes up and plays him through the middle, we’d see the real player that he can be….

  58. W.A.T.H says:

AA is a hard case SP, he is such a talented player you can carry a passenger sometimes if those around him know what they getting from him and he is a creater and a scorer of goals, he’s played out of position and for me I’d play him behind RVP then he isn’t required to really get back and put a foot in, I agree I like Ebooooie’s heart and attitude a shame he is such a clot sometimes…! wenger is to soft on them doesnt take them off when they crap and then tells the media how brilliant they all are, no wonder their attitude stinks when they think they merely have to turn up to beat teams…! Wrong…..!!!!!

  59. Will says:

    i would not sell Theo.

The players I would sell are:

    1) Manuel Almunia (age 34)
    2) Abou Diaby (age 25)
    7) Tomas Rosicky (age 30)
    12) Denilson (age 23)
    14) Sebastien Squillaci (age 30)
    19) Emmanuel Eboue (age 28)
    22) Vito Mannone (age 23)
    24) Nicklas Bendtner (age 23)

  60. BT62gooner says:

Hi,SP we may havin been top of the PL at one time but did you really think we would stay there? As for spending millions might not guarantee success your right, but might help bring more chance of real success not just hoping to finish in top4 and acup run.AFFA.

  61. rico says:

‘I would keep Clichy, Vela and JD.’

Will, this comment of yours led me to think you would sell the rest…

You asked who would we sell….

  62. rico says:

    I got there, eventually 😉

I wouldn’t keep Clichy, he has been a liability this season, the defensive unit needs to work as one, he is a weak link imho…

Also, if he can’t be arsed to sign a new contract now, then he can naff off ….

  63. Steve Palmer says:

I must admit Wath AA has many times impressed me with touches of brilliance and you have a good point in his position, maybe Wengers fault but at the end of the day last year saw me screaming at him more than i was in awe for that reason and at thirty i would move him on and pocket what i could

  64. W.A.T.H says:

I’d sell the ones below, AA and Cesc with deep regret but none the less I’d still sell them purely to bring in the kind of player we need although my thoughts are based on what I think and are not relative to what wenger thinks so its all a waste of time really he’ll sell 3/4 of that lot if we lucky…!

    1) Manuel Almunia (age 34)
    2) Abou Diaby (age 25)

    4) Cesc Fabregas (age 24)

    7) Tomas Rosicky (age 30)

    10) Carlos Vela (age 22)

    12) Denilson (age 23)

    14) Sebastien Squillaci (age 30)

    17) Gael Clichy (age 25)
    18) Andrey Arshavin (age 30)
    19) Emmanuel Eboue (age 28)

    22) Vito Mannone (age 23)
    23) Armand Traore (age 21)
    24) Nicklas Bendtner (age 23)
    25) Pedro Botelho (age 21)

  65. Joaquim moreira says:

    Vela is playing at concacaf?
I’m not sure… Mexixo won 4-0 Cuba but I think he didn’t play

  66. W.A.T.H says:

SP, for those reasons you state it’s why i would sell him as well, I think we have ruined him and wenger must take responsibility for that and as u say he earns big money and we wont get anything back if we let his contract expire….. cut our losses and get what we can.

  67. rico says:

Gervinho – did you know this is his nickname, given to him by a brazilian coach.

His real name is Gervais Yao Kouassi – does that mean if he signs for us we can call him

    ‘Ricky’ (Gervais) 😆

  68. Steve Palmer says:

BT62 Yeh good points, and to be honest being top of the league and watching the others perform i was hopeing but we just wasn’t together. If you ask me could we have won the league i would say yes, we had the team to win it. I honestly thought we had the team to beat anybody and still do, but as Wath and Will said, we haven’t the mindset, and at the end of the day we didnt lose it we gave it away.

  69. rico says:

Steve – which goes back to what you posted about yesterday, they lack belief and the ability to kill off games…

Catch 22, until they can do that they won’t believe they can, and they won’t until they finally believe they can.

That belief should be drummed into them by Wenger, but it’s clear he is failing in that department so he needs help from a man who can. That takes us back to Keown, he would…

And, if Wenger slips 2/3 players into the squad who have that killer instinct, it wouldn’t take long for that to get through into the minds of the others…

hope that all amkes sense 😉

  70. Will says:

Makes perfect sense Rico but I have said, we don’t teach the kids the winning mentality but expect them to have that heart and desire as soon as they reach the first team.

We should be making the youth teams accountable. Yes, teach them how to play but also teach them the desire to win because if you don’t, you don’t get rewarded.

  71. rico says:

If I am totally honest, i don’t believe you can teach someone to have a winning mentality….

  72. Steve Palmer says:

I wonder if Wenger is getting involved more in the actual running of the club, and his time is split between the two i am a bit surprised he has gone to South America as the word of his scouts has always been good enough, but to be hands on so to speak is a bit different, unless they have good hotels there

  73. Will says:

I think you can Rico and that is by showing the kids that they have to win or bad things happen.

  74. Steve Palmer says:

I think your right to a degree there Rico, but if you make them fight all through their traineeships, and have to qualify to stay, you can show them what fighting is and winning will give them satisfaction

  75. Will says:

If these kids are rewarded for wining leagues or cups, they would get the need to win mentality. By telling them it is not the result but the performance, you remove any need to win and therefore the killer instinct.

  76. rico says:

You can instill a different mentality, but the best way to do that is financially, in this day and age, thats all they care about…

However, we pay them too much too soon, if they were on a performance related wage, we’d soon see more fight….

    Lee 😆

  77. rico says:

Steve, agree, but within their age groups, what comps are there for them to fight for? Is there any really??

Even the reserve league has gone belly up, behind closed doors, no-one watching, whats that all about?

Did you guys see that we won’t be playing Barnet this pre-season, nor ever again it seems…

  78. Joaquim moreira says:

rico, Gervinho is easier 🙂 is a brazilian name. Good name for a football player, like Jairzinho,Pele, Ronaldinho, Careca,Eusébio, Ronaldo… how many godd players like those names? Gervais is more “emphatic”, “snob”… 🙂
An eye in M. Martins (23) from Sochaux. He score twice yesterday. Midfield. 10x France internacional sub-21.
Is an example of the kind of players we need: ambitious, young, good players, cheapers (at the moment…) willing to show up in the world of football (something difficult in sochaux) or like Gameiro (in Lorient)
From the list, above 30 years could leave. Then we have two who do not want to stay (NB and Denilson). We need a goalkeeper. Fabiansky was overtaken by Szehcny (someone saw the Poland-Argentina game? is currently the goalkeeper No. 1 in Poland). Manone not seen. Diaby is a very good player but he is injured. Maybe it’s better not to play in the League but in all Cups… :-). AW did not know whether to stay. Then there are cases of Fabregas and Nasri. they have to decide this week. young people had that view, but cases like Traore who usually played at Juventus, it is strange that we elected not to enter. But only after the defined outputs.

  79. Coadsi says:

good day everyone, sorry for the late response but from that list i would get rid of 1, 7, 10, 12, 14, 19, 23, 24.
Wenger has put the club is a bad state. he has about 6 players who apparantly wants to leave. i can think of another 5 or so players that should leave. that would imply a clear-out of sorts which is never gonna happen. the sad thing is if he gets rid of them there will be no guiarantee the funds will be used to get new players. he wud prolly give the kids improved contracts or continue to buy on the cheap.
the last day of the season i watched the wolves match and saw how the fans were biting their nails, worried at the possibility of being relegated and the joy at the end of the match when they survived and thought we are heading in this direction. it might sound extreme but wenger has backed the club into a corner. as things stand a top 4 finish would be a surprise next season.

    JM

🙂 I think it’s funny he has been given a brazil sounding nickname, does the quality of the footballer warrant it 😉

There is an English actor/comedian called Ricky Gervais, i thought it might be more apt 😉

  81. Coadsi says:

i am good rico, as long as i dont think too much about the arsenal. how are things with you?
I can imagine that david villa made your day when he scored against the mancs in the CL

  82. rico says:

All good thanks Coadsi, other than AFC – I loved Villa for that goal but I don’t like what he is saying now about Cesc though….

  83. Lee says:

Yeah, I like your train of thought, a big un and little un up front…. reading boy and all that too!!
    😉

  84. agirlagunner says:

Boo!! The rate this (non)transfer talk is going, we’d all have gone mad by the time the new season rolls around. 😉

rico, how come players who leave (for thicker pay packets) can’t stop talking about AFC? Strange that. 🙂 The Ades and the Gallases and the Flaminis and the Hlebs can only continue to dream about what could’ve been. Good!

  85. rico says:

Because wherever they have gone they cannot be truly happy and know they should have stayed…..

    Afternoon agag 😉

  86. agirlagunner says:

Afternoon, rico.:) It’s gonna be a looooong summer. I really hope our Board and Coach are sorting this out. I don’t think any of us are expecting mad money signings, but for all our sakes, I hope it isn;t some obscure by way of Squillaci type. Ha ha.

  87. Steve Palmer says:

Was thinking last night about what Pat7 was saying about muscle development he said that certain training develops problems, Hamstrings etc. he said that building just one part of the leg would ultimately cause an Unbalance and that would cause a weakness, i have to say that at certain parts of last season when we were without key players with similar injuries cost us big time, maybe time to look into that train of thought, Nasri was playing some of his best football and suffered Hamstring, Cesc also started good and went right through the season with the same complaint makes me feel even more that my post yesterday may yet be the answer. Balanced muscle building may be more than training, possibly the road to trophies. do you think having the two of them fit for the whole season would have changed our position in the league and a different result in the cup final

  88. agirlagunner says:

My fitness regimen consists of sprinting… to the mall 😉 ; and weight training with as many shopping bags as I could possibly carry. 😀

I’m cautiously optimistic, rico. My positivity has gotten me nowhere with our team. 🙁

  89. Steve Palmer says:

I have watched quite a lot of games this year all teams and have seen a number of players pulling up with Hamstrings. I had one in thirty years of playing. and never did the training they do today, and wonder if the reason for that is that my muscles were not as developed as much as footballers of today, so perhaps not so unbalanced, if that’s the case, balanced muscle building or different training altogether may be the answer.

  90. agirlagunner says:

Steve, hammies take forever to heal though. Cesc’s is on again off again. Nasri’s, too. 🙁

I balance as best as I can in my high heels. No mean feat sprinting in them. 😉
