Defender off…. more to follow.

It seems Isaac Hayden is on his way to Newcastle United, the young versatile Arsenal man it seems it surplus to requirements at Arsenal. it’s not known if this is a loan deal or a permanent move but begs the question why was he never given a fair crack of the whip at Arsenal?

Hayden has been at the club since youngster yet has barely had a sniff of the first team squad, he falls into the bracket like so many of so close yet so far….. We seem to of had many players who looked good enough to break into the squad but never did, are they not good enough or do they simply not get a chance?

It’s been said before but it does seem to many that if your face doesn’t fit you don’t crack a nod. We’ve all wondered what would of happened to Bellerin if Debuchy had not been injured, would he of been cast out on loan never to be seen again? Yes luck plays a huge part in a young players career but it also seems that for all the talk of Arsenal giving young players a chance in fact many do not get a chance at all.

Hayden for a change is a young English player who keeps his head down he’s not had any bad press and seems hard working and humble, maybe he doesn’t have the talent to make it at Arsenal but maybe now we’ll never know and I wonder how many other will fall by the way side over the next month or so.

Enjoy your Saturday.

Absolutely slashing it down here, welcome to Norfolk in the English summer. As the new proposed opportunity league for youngsters dies a death the clearout of our homegrown players continues. I am getting pretty fed up with the way young English and other players get treated and never get a chance to break into the clubs elite. For every Iwobi there are two Torals and now Hayden that never really get a chance. When will Premier money moguls realise that to sink a small percentage of their profits ( £ 3 million a year maybe) in to the development of kids to men should if handled correctly reap dividends in the future. I suppose it’s too easy to trawl the world for Sanogo or a Nigerian wonderkid and the like , then send them on loan probably never to be heard of again. Expect Akpom to be next in line and a few more before the season starts. What is the point of the academy and the wonderful facilities at London Colney if there is a barrier to their development at the final stage.

Hayden has had a few opps, and loans are to determine their progress. How man of those ‘cast aside’ do actually make top level standad? Cant think of one. As for Akpom, he shows no signs of being PL standard

Stan without the opportunity to play men’s football we will never know just how far they can develop. They can go on loan like Gnabry and waste a year on the bench as a squad filler or the clubs could take their development seriously and give them competitive adult football to grow in. A football combination type league is the only way to give them the chance but your namesake and his fellow chairmenwill never invest in it because it will not grow their day to day bottom line despite a Nordviet, Afobe, Lansbury might eventually save them a few million.

I really think luck plays an important role in regards to breaking into a starting 11 or squad. players such as Gnabry, Hayden and Toral seemed destine for the senior team, then injury pops up, thatt tight spot that each could have fit in suddenly close and the opportunity vanishes, till next never.

The case of luck also applies to Bellerin and Coquelin involvement in the senior team, we all know their stories, thats why luck in not getting injuries plays and inportant role in a young player aspirations.

I could name many players who couldd have grown with the nuturing nature of an arsenal, but as allowed to leave, without being given a fear chance.

So its all about luck for our young players

Ozyakup, who now plays for the Turkish national team, was one, Nordtveit was another, if fate had smiled on them would they now be where Bellerin and Coquelin are…?

Of course there’s the other end of the spectrum with Merida, Lupoli and co, but as has been said above, luck plays a significant part in a players’ career…

St Wath, that’s a very good post btw…

As for Hayden and Toral, I honestly thought that they would be afforded a chance in the senior squad this season, especially on the back of the depatures of Rosicky, Arteta and Flamini. So I’m quite disappointed to see them both discarded again…

Is Hayden that much more inferior for example, than Chambers?

Of course, Chambers cost Arsene Wenger £16m, so work it out?

If I recall, during the last Emirates Cup, Monaco were one of the competing teams and that was about the time when Lacazette had first been linked to Arsenal, so there was a bit of interest from Gunners fans…

Anyway, wasn’t Lacazettes performances somewhere between average and rubbish, so I cannot really see the attraction of this geezer, and certainly not for €43m..!!!

Of course, Wenger might sign him and he might turn out to be brilliant, a cross between Pires and Henry, but I can’t help feeling totally underwhelmed by the whole rumour…

Ruel Carvey’s got it right, there must be a whole lot of luck in whether a young player makes it up the greasy pole. Brady admitted as such and went on to say something to the effect that deciding which young players will make it isn’t an exact science and he and others certainly miss gems, It certainly isn’t just Arsenal as the tale of Pogba shows and of course Henry was allowed to slip from the Italian club’s grasp because they weren’t particularly impressed by him as a winger.

    Morning All

    Morning Mr Wath

Hey Rick, I saw that Ntekieh scored a couple in an U21 warm up game vs Bournmouth. The way that kid scores make me think that if he can stay fit and carry on his development, that he is gonna get fast-tracked into the 1st team squad, maybe as soon as this season.
That’s why it’s such a shame about the EFL Trophy, what a chance that would have been, for him to measure himself against adult footballers…

  9. allezkev says:

Seems that Isaac Hayden is going to sign a 5 year deal at Newcastle and that Arsenal are going to receive a £2.5m fee.

He only had a year left on his Arsenal contract and maybe he was reluctant to sign an extension, so Wenger probably cashed in while he could…

Hopefully Wenger insisted on a buy-back clause in the deal..?

  10. Wath says:

Kev, sorry to pee on your bonfire but the way things are going Ntekieh will score loads of goals and get sold for 5million next July having never had a chance seeing as surely he’d stop the growth of Sanogo..??? 😉
