Morning all,
Christian Benteke wants a move to us in the summer:
There is no point in me getting into a tug-of-war with Villa, and I don’t think there is any need for one. If the chance comes up for me to join a club like Arsenal, I am convinced that we can reach a compromise where everybody comes out a winner.
This guy has been good, very good for Aston Villa and it’s not the first time he has hinted at wanting to join us.
Remember back in 2012 he said this:
Arsenal are the club I love, I like their philosophy of selecting young players and, besides, they had Thierry Henry.
For me he is the best player in the world and was my boyhood idol. I’m not afraid of making enemies at Villa by saying I love Arsenal.
We always say we need more players who love our club, because when they do, they give a little bit extra. He has to be up there with some of the better strikers in the Premier League right now and if he can score 19 Premier League goals for Villa, I’m sure he’d get a few more in red and white….
Go get him Arsene!
Another who has been strongly linked to us for a while now is Swansea’s Ashley Williams. The latest suggestion is that he and Arsenal have agreed personal terms on a deal that would see him make a move to our club. All that is left to agree on is the fee.
Jacks been talking to Arsenal Player:
The games earlier on don’t decide our season but we have got to think that we have to win them, because that is what champions do.
The likes of Manchester United go away and win games and leave you thinking, ‘they keep winning and winning’ and at the end of the season the points tally shows that.
That is what we have to do [to challenge for the title], and we also have to improve our record against the big teams. It has not been great this season and if you want to become champions you have to beat those sides.
Our first two fixtures of last season (seems funny writing that) saw us drop four points against two very average clubs. Stoke and Sunderland – the latter being at home. But back then, and after conceding 40+ goals in the league during the previous season, most of us were quite impressed at how organised our defence looked.
Finally – we looked like we’d not not reach such an outrageous figure again…..
Funny enough, it was the scoring of goals we struggled with, our main man had gone and we’d started with a goal drought.
Of course, the press loved that…
Then we travelled to Anfield and beat Liverpool 2-0 with both Podolski and Cazorla getting their debut goals and then we battered the new boys Southampton 6-1 at home and all seemed a little brighter. A couple of own-goals, Podolski, Walcott and Gervinho got the others, Gervinho with two.
But then cam Manchester City, the Premier League Champions, the team oozing with class and with a manager who loved to spend money. We faced them away, we battered them. But we only managed a draw.
That’s six points dropped already and it was still September. An even worse result followed that, a 1-0 defeat to Norwich, another who had been promoted from the Championship. Another who we really should have beaten.
Nine points dropped – and yes, dropped….
The next three points we missed out on was at Old Trafford, a 2-1 defeat, a flattering score-line for us. I was glad to see the back of that fixture…..
From 2-0 up at The Emirates, we drew 3-3 with Fulham, we even missed a chance right at the end to clinch all the points, but Arteta’s penalty was kept out by a keeper we once tried to sign……
Eleven points surrendered far too easily….
We battered the neighbours at home 5-2, that was a nice day, Adebayor getting sent off is always pleasing on the eye!
But, again, we dropped two points against a poor Aston Villa side away from home. Thirteen and counting…..
A draw at Everton away was a fair result but a 2-0 defeat at home the following week was simply shocking, we were really all over the place, especially as the game came to and end and they scored twice.
That’s sixteen, not so sweet eh!
Next place to drop points was at St Marys against the side we’d hit for six earlier in the season. Eighteen points by my reckoning and it was only Jan 1st 2013….
Man City and Chelsea both beat us over the next couple of weeks, we deserved nothing from either in my opinion.
Liverpool at home saw us go 2-0 down but somehow we dug in a earned a point.
Then came the 2-1 defeat at WHL, a game we deserved to get something from in the end but defensive errors let us down. I’d say we definitely dropped a point that day, at least. Nineteen and still counting….
By this time, we’d also been knocked out of the two domestic competitions and had been torn apart by Bayern Munich in front of our own fans. The players were down, the fans were down and we looked like a side that would struggle to make the Europa league, let alone get into the top four.
Next up was the return trip to Bayern, the general view was ‘how many we would lose by’….
We didn’t, we turned up, we played great, we won and we did ourselves proud. Very proud!
From that night until the end of the season we didn’t lose again….
A further two points were dropped at home against Man Utd and Everton and yes, they were dropped, we really could have beaten them on the night of each match – that makes it four more dropped – twenty three in total…
Sixteen points was the difference between the Premier League winners and us….
Jack’s right, start the season sharper and start getting much better results against those so called ‘better sides’. Learn to dig a bit deeper and beat a few of the sides down the other end of the table as well and who knows where we could finish next season.
We know what this current squad can do, we’ve seen it over the last couple of months.
Adding stronger, better and experienced players to what we already have will make us so so much stronger…
Roll on July 1st…..
Finally, Emmanuel Frimpong underwent surgery on his knee on Wednesday – hopefully all went well and he’ll make a full recovery.
That’s it for another day, have a good one….
You can’t win the league in the opening 10 games , but you can go a long way to losing it.
Morning Rico and all. Is Benteke a one-season wonder and why, if he’s that good, didn’t Wenger spot him earlier?
Kenneth Williams and Reg Varney for me.
Give it another couple of weeks and the transfer frenzy will start in earnest I think.
Exactly Potter..
Morning Adam. Good question, same could be said about Michu but he can’t spot them all, or maybe he’s not keen on the players from Belgium. He didn’t seem to want JV either…
I don’t think he’s a one season wonder though, he improves all the time and Lambert has put a £30 million price tag on him
Morning SYG. I haven’t expected loyalty from players for some time. Money replaced it years ago.
£30 million! That’s a lot of loyalty.
I am with you SYG.
It is nice to have players who aspire to be a Gunner, but we condemn those wanting to use our club as a stepping stone.
Then again, Arsenal should NEVER be a stepping stone.
Syg, it didn’t take that long… 😉
We are so often on the receiving end of stiff like this, players look to Barca, City, Utd and make comments about them showing ambition, winning trophies etc etc…
I say bollox, who cares that someone now see’s us as that kind of club..
The more who talk like Benteke the better, might actually mean that we are finally on the way up….
Morning all,
I’ve always been a fan of Benteke but I don’t rate him as a 30mil striker. Andy Carrol comes to mind when I see that kind of price tag. Surely we won’t do a Liverpool, Wenger is smarter than that.
£15-18 million would get him I bet Bradster, Villa could do with the money…
Seriously we are not good negotiators , I can’t help feeling that if our money men lived in any other business regime they would be out of work tout suite . Whoever started talking about our financial situation and our debt repayments deserves stringing up. Benteke would be nowhere near £30 million if the £70 million tag wasn’t being bandied about. Villa must think it’s birthday , Christmas , New Year and Bonfire night.
Lambert has said that the right money would make him think, and that was when talking about around £20m – That £30m is pie in the sky…
We should be looking to Spain…
both Madrid and Barcelona need to sell before they can buy – and they are supposedly the richest clubs there ….
Contreao of Madrid is saying that he certainly won’t be at Madrid next year, so Chelsea or Tottenham seems the most probable destination… They are offering Di Maria as bait for Bale …. Maybe Wenger is looking at their French Central Defender?
Benteke no thanks. Good player but will be whoring himself to City/ Barca or whoever after a good season with the Arse’……….and as for the Williams story, that’s originated from Goal.com which is a hive of complete throw shit at the wall bollocks and I’m surprised you’ve not mentioned that.
Hi all,
I didn’t realise you had such good memory Rico? :).. very good post
Hi SYG… have you seen Contreao defend asa lb? he makes Santos look sane… lol
Scott- ditto I look me a Benteke too but doing a Wiltord or Nasri will only end in tears in future… most young players who say they support Arsenal claim to also support Barcelona so the grass is always greener or should I say the sun is brighter in Camp Nou…
Potter re 10:17- How would you feel if a Yank called and introduced himself as Dick Law in a Texan broad and was interested in signing your player? 😛
I strongly suspect AW is looking to Spain, having signed Monreal and Santi, Spain is the most likely for a bargain…
We definitely need to get quality in our squad early. With a far flung Asian pre season and CL qualifiers it’ll be a tough campaign.
If Tottenham gets CL football next season for winning Europa, do both Arsenal and Tottenham go into qualifiers?
Tanks Ts, I did have to check a few though 😉
I meant by having Chelsea win Europa.
Chrispy – didn’t need to mention it. The regulars here know that I just pass on all the rumours from the news. None of us believe any of it and until afc.com confirm anything, it’s all just media rubbish…
Good Morning to the Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.
Rico – An interesting article on how the team let points and the championship slip away so early in the season. This only emphasises the need for the club to do most, if not all, of their player acquisitions early. So they can integrate the new players and have a full pre-season to get everyone fit and for the team to gel as a unit.
They shouldn’t wait for the all the deadwood to be sold. If that means we could be stuck paying some of them for a few more months – OR – god forbid stuck with one or more for another season, so be it. The team must be fit and ready to hit the ground running at the start of the new season. It would also allow the coaching staff more time to assess which, if any, of our young professionals and Academy players are ready and able to step-up into the first team; even if only to the subs bench or League Cup.
TSGH :- If he called I would book my flight , pre order my margherita ,sit by the pool and wait for him to arrive because you can be certain the talks would not be in sunny England.
I love the guy ability, he is very strong in the air, and he can play behind Giroud as 4-4-2 formation
They don’t get it that way do they Bradster?
I totally agree Cg…
Unless you are signing an established star you don’t wait until the last week in Aug to sign a core team player…
Core team players should be signed by 2nd week of pre-season so that the said player/s can sort out all off field issues such as home for the wag and kids before the season starts… as all of these disrupt performance… especially if the wag is not happy about leaving in a hotel…
Squad players can always be added until deadline day, if oned or two squad players get minor or major injuries during pre-season…
Wake up people !!! All this nonsense with wenger being proactive is just bull.He already said at his latest press conference that we only needed one or two but hte press forgot to report it only The Telegraph but in amongst all the other drivel he said.He is conning you all again and you are bying it like you always do.
Morning Cg, agree re the early signings, I think we’ll get whoever we are signing early this time..
Mind you, we did last summer didn’t we. Just not enough of them..
I heard they’re deciding if the Europa winner gets entry to CL the next season. So, Chelsea is there already surely it moves down to 5th in England. Not 100% sure Rico, that’s why I’m asking.
.Adam,
“…..I haven’t expected loyalty from players for some time. Money replaced it years ago.”
I could not agree more Adam. It is quite disgusting. Interesting discussion on the radio about it last night, seems like people have finally realised these ridiculous wages, the one sided contracts and players behaviour needs a look at. I guess Bosman started it all and the sugar daddy’s have helped take disloyalty and wages to an unrealistic level.
Hi Danish. We’ll see.
Potter- Law allegedly uses his office in Colney only in August… when CL qualification is guaranteed. Its a disgrace… he was employed initially as the South American scout and all his buys from that part of the world apart from Vela have had serious off field issues…Samuel Galindo,Pedro Botelho etc
Brad… its from the 2014 season not 2013/2014 season…
Have a feeling that it’s 4 only Brad, only because of what happened between the Dippers and Everton a few seasons ago.
Robson is back earning money by his usual spiteful means… his latest is that AW will not spend so Arsenal would have to find a new manager…
I know he was a very useful winger but the man is a WHU fan so why does he take so much interest in our club…
Is it because AW was smart not to spend crazy money on a player because of the type of passport they hold as Fat SAm is doing by paying £15M for Carroll…
Rico,
“The regulars here know that I just pass on all the rumours from the news. None of us believe any of it and until afc.com confirm anything, it’s all just media rubbish….”
Abso…bloody…lutely.
Now we are in the silly season, the media will be running around looking for and inventing stories. You are now are going to see and hear all kinds of nonsense and very little will have any truth I suspect. Do not get angry or start ranting about unfounded stories people.
We should try to keep this team together for next season.
tsgh
“Robson is back earning money by his usual spiteful means… his latest is that AW will not spend so Arsenal would have to find a new manager..The man is a WHU fan”
He is a nasty piece of work who talks rubbish most of the time, with an agenda. I also listened to Merson slagging off arsenal, then saw him talking about his love for Chelsea and how he used to stand on the CFC terraces as a boy chearing them on. Claimed he never looks for Arsenal results, the only result he is interested in is Chelsea. Fans and the media just assume ex players are fans of the club, they most often are not.
I disagree this isn’t silly season at all………..
It’s piss yourself laughing season…! I’m just waiting for the Messi & Ronaldo to Arsenal stories to hit the back pages…! I am a little upset it’s not been mentioned yet.
We Gooners to tend to believe transfer rumours involving our own players, while being cynical on players possile coming in though.
Even people inside the club do not know what Wenger is thinking, so we have no chance 🙂
Sit back, watch it unfold, i say.
Ts, I guess they are trying to raise the value of the Europa Cup…
Kj, we have seen it for many seasons, we aren’t daft on here 🙂
That’s more like it Wath…
Wath, i knew you’d be cynical, that is why i kept those rumours to myself 🙂
Your such a bastard Scott how could you keep that from me…………..
Trying to save you from getting hurt mate…..i know how you take the disappointments to heart.
Not all Scott 😉
My view is simpl.
IG says there is lots of money.
AW wants a new contract.
Put the two together and it equals signings 🙂
If it doesn’t happen, bye bye Arsene.
Sorry Rico, i was generalising there…..should have said that.
I am hoping Arsene sees what we all do….the other top clubs are more vulnerable than they have been for a few years and we can take advantage.
Hi kj, I guess some of these ex-players have to earn a living however way they can… 😉
Cg, I heard Canada has signed its version of the snooper charter…?
Fukking Robson.
I swear, i detest him more than any man who has ever represented Arsenal.
Afternoon all, when does the transfer window open? Would love to see all our business done and dusted in the first week.
Had a dream last night that Arsene signed a striker from the 2nd tier of Japanese football, I kept pleading with him to sign Higuain, but he was having done of it!
Thanx for clearing that up ts. Do you know if it’s qualification to the qualifiers or automatic group stages?
The clue is in the post Esp, 1st July 😉
Officially, but deals can be done outside that date I’m sure, if both clubs agree…
Automatic place Bradster, and it’s not at the expense of any other club that has already qualified…
SS’s have mentioned it this morning..
tsgh
“….I guess some of these ex-players have to earn a living however way they can… 😉 ”
🙂
Paul, i had the same dream, except it was 3rd tier and Korea.
Scott,
“Fukking Robson.
I swear, i detest him more than any man who has ever represented Arsenal.”
He is a loathsome individual with a real agenda – but that’s why the media love him. Always been the same with our great club, so I can’t wait to shove two fingers up at them all.You don’t seem to get sorts like Robson at other clubs.
Our next trophy will be the sweetest one yet…..
I’m scouring the papers and internet Scott….
Not a bloody word on Messi or Ronaldo….!
What are you playing at…?
Don’t know why anyone gets all bitter and twisted about Robson he’s a complete know with zero insight on AFC just a vindictive little wanker with an agenda cos we didn’t employ him cos he was obviously as said a loathsome little twat..! End of..!
Right back to the real news at hand when is the signing of Messi or Ronaldo gonna happen thats what I wanna know…..
Scott………………………….
Our next trophy… What the Ems Cup in August Scott or the 4th place one…? when they handing that out 😉
Scott,
“Our next trophy will be the sweetest one yet…..”
I agree but you forget to type ‘trophies’.
I fancy wenger to go all premier league this summer. Cesar williams schneiderlin ben arfa benteke that lot should cost circa £50-60m at most. If sagna leaves he will then just need a right back replacement. If I was him I would then go for nathan clyne.
I don’t let Robson get to me, i just want to headbutt the bastard once…that’s all.
Wath, my mates cousins brothers uncles postmans next door neighbours dads nurses nieces sister reckons Messi is a done deal, and Ronaldo a 50/50 chance.
I know you are a cynic, but if she says it’s happening, take it as read 🙂
Ems Cup I reckon Wath, that’s if the Turks don’t cause trouble and the whole thing gets cancelled….
bc – there has been a few stories linking us to the saints midfielder…. but Cesar i’m not so sure about any more…
I’m all a wreck over that news Scott…. can you plz plz confirm….!
I have my new shirt with Messi on it already and just waiting to go down to Adams boozer the “Pink Angels” to strut my stuff and show off…!
Robson was just a headless chicken that spent most of his time on the treatment table. When he was finally fit he declared his love for West Ham.When he did sign for them, again he was injured for most of his time there.Forget the prick and listen to what T.H 14 has to say about the club ,pure class
😆 Wath..
And Dennis Jay…
I wll try to confirm the reports Wath 🙂
Scott I hear there are some gems in the 3rd tier in Korea!
Guys I don’t want you all to get excited… but i’m hearing Arsenal have launched a bid for 1986 Diego Maradona.. Its said that 1986 Diego Maradona is keen on a move to the Emirates.
Just spoke to Stan’s right hand man and he told me that once i have paid for my ST he will let me know.
And cheap Paul….
The transfer window hasn’t even opened yet, but the Silly Season has well and truly begun. It’s interesting to see the range in reactions from my fellow posters.
We have have the realists who will sit back and wait to see a transfer posted on Arsenal.com before they believe it and don’t get too depressed or excited about the lies, damn lies, idle rumours and absolute nonsense circulated by the journos of the English and European press. I can’t bring myself to call them journalists, as true sports journalism seems to be an arcane and dying art and real journalist an extremely endangered species. Some of the worst are the former players. It’s bad enough we had to put up watching some of them play and in so doing collect their astronomic wages. Now we are bombarded by their sophmoric, uninformed, and ill thought prattling and in so doing they continue to earn astronomic wages. The world is not a fair place.
We have the cynics/pessimists who, for whatever reasons, ignore the changes in the club’s finances, the changes in world economies, changes in UEFA rules & regulations (i.e. FFP), etc. They believe Arsene will not change, the Board of Directors will not change, the owner(s) will not change, etc. The club will buy players from the bargain basement and will continue to struggle to challenge for the the league championship. Fourth place will be ‘The Arsenal Spot’ for eternity.
We have the optimists who see light at the end of the tunnel. Things have changed and the club’s fortunes are on the up-swing. Arsene will be given adequate, maybe even massive, tranfer funds. The club will buy three or more experienced accomplished, maybe even world class, players. The club will challenge for and sometimes win the league championship, League Cup, FA Cup &/or Champions League and go on to dominate the game of football for decades to come. If not this year, then next or the year after that. Whatever happens, they will see something to enjoy and sustain them.
We have the the Nervous Nellies who can also be cynics or optimists, but rarely realists. They jump at the mearest hint of a rumour and are either ecstatic or severely worried &/or depressed depending on the nature of the rumour. The are whipsawed by the ever changing and conflicting nature of the rumour mill. Their emotions cresting and crashing like storm waves. By mid-summer they will be wound up tighter than a cheap alarm clock and will be so emotionally drained they wont be able to enjoy, if at all, their football until near Christmas.
Whatever happens, pity the Nervous Nellies for they will always be chasing the bird(s) in the bush and will have trouble getting any enjoyment from the bird in the hand. They might not even realise there is one in hand. The cynics/pessimists will enjoy pointing out the errors and failings of the the rest if their outlook prevails, even if only for a year. If not, they too wont be able to enjoy their football as they will not be able to admit their error and will await the fulfillment of their the views in the following season(s).
Which am I? Well I think my buttocks sit astride two of these positions and I will continue to wear my rose coloured glasses until reality kicks me in the behind.
Haha CG….love it….
Jay, only thing Robson ever did right was kick Graham Roberts into the East Lower….!
CG, I am devastated, are you trying to insinuate that Scott is talking utter crap and Messi isn’t a done deal…?
I think your trying to wind me up CG,,, I can feel that Scott would not lie to me and that Messi is indeed at Colney doing his medical as we speak…!
Ask Kev, he picked Lionel up from Heathrow 🙂
Very good Cg…
I think I am somewhere between a realist and a…. realist 😉
Based purely on historic Arsene Wenger behaviour of course, well, more like the last 5-7 years….
Wath. Have you been listening to Talk Sport and spreading rumours again?
Merson? This is a bloke who gets lagging drunk, can’t see a lorry on the motorway ahead of him so crashes into the back of it. This was several years after admitting spending £7 million on drugs and gambling when he had a young family at home.
We should listen to him?
Canadian
I could not have put that better myself, great post and spot on. As for your comment on the ‘journalists’, brilliant you described them perfectly.
Good afternoon all,
No doubt we will be linked to a number of players in the next 3 months. Seeing the pattern over the last years, the pattern will remain the same-balance the books and finish minimum 4th.
Dependent on who leaves, will determine how much and who we go for.
The only 2 things I am seeing positively from our club this year as opposed to last year is that :
1.) We are clearing out players that are not going to make it or coming to the end of their contracts(youths like Eastmond and Watt, and, Arshavin contract expiring)
2.)Have improved the calibre of signings (Podolski, Giroud, Cazorla and Monreal).Arsene has realised that these 6m gambles on Andre Santos, and the cheapo bargain Squillacis just wont do.
Every manager is guilty of signing an expensive dud, so we shouldnt be too hard on Arsene re Arshavin. Liverpool paid £35 for Carroll and £20 for Aquilani. That Borini don’t look too good and Sturridge and Downing were bought for over the odds. Not too mention Henderson WTF?
So we could have done worse.
Look at the state of QPR…..
Adam,
“Merson? This is a bloke who gets lagging drunk, young family, cocaine etc”.
Absolutely spot on. He deserves utter contempt. And as he is a lifelong Chelsea fan, I have no idea why he is seen as someone to offer a view on all things Arsenal. Dick Head.
well said CG @1:10…I could be any one of those….
W.A.T.H – As I have stated in the past I have no inside information; whether from the owners, B.O.D., Manager, coaching staff, playing staff, groundskeepers, tea lady, cleaners, etc. Nor, for that matter, any mother, father, aunt, uncle, son, daughter, niece, nephew, friend, friend of a friend, etc. of same. I am not psychic. The only thing I see in a crystal ball is my own distorted, but eminently handsome, reflection. I can’t divine anything but poor food hygene from the entrails of animals. The only thing I can do with Tarot cards is build card houses. In summary I know no more nor no less than you about player transfers. I like most, if not all, here can only offer my opinion; humble or not. So Messi may come to our beloved club, but in defference to your health I would advise you not to hold your breath till it happens.
As for Scott, our esteemed colleague from the Antipodes, I offer no opinion. I have no wish to offend him, as I enjoy the levity he is prone to inject into our somtimes sombre and morose gatherings and rantings. Yet, he is not known as the Sage Of NSW for nothing. Make of that what you will.
W.A.T.H – After reading your 12:56 pm post; may I assume you and Adam are just good friends?
WATH 1.12. Remember that well ,I reckon that he was aiming for Hoddle though mate
CG, Adam has been after me for years………………..
As for Scott and trying to mislead me and get all all excited about Messi we got more chance of signing Lionel Blair…!
It is as you say though CG quite interesting to say the least watching other blogs and fans become absolutely entwined with ridiculous bullshit transfer gossip… People seem t lose all sense of rational thinking but to be fair I can understand that to a point as most merely want whats best for the club so any star names causes a flurry of comments and reactions… the media know this as well hence they play on it.
It’s a shame he didn’t get both with the one tackle….! Roberts was good enough though.. really didn’t like him one bit…!
Perry Groves done him big time when he was at Chelsea ,Practically finished the crude bastard.I remember Groves saying that he was praying that he didnt come back on the pitch ,
I missed that one….. He was indeed a nasty fucker but didn’t like it when he got a dig back did he….!
He Wouldnt mix it with T.A and Boulld though mate
Perry Groves, now there is a true Gunner through and through. Another great number 14 for The Arsenal. Not the most talented of players, but one of the most dedicated. If some of our promising starlets that wasted their talent (e.g. Bentley, Pennant, etc.) had his work ethic, they would have been world class.
CG, how should i take that please?
Adam, Talksport, I thought it was BR you read and believed in 😉
Any news re the job George?
My thanks to Arsenal 4 Life: A Guuners Blog for the following;
“Overall:
The fact is, Arsene and Arsenal like to keep all of their transfer business top secret. With the vast majority of players Arsene has signed, we haven’t heard anything until it’s been announced official on the Arsenal website.
Arsene knows that making interest public automatically inflates prices and encourages bids from other clubs, so it is in our interests to keep everything quiet.
So sit back and wait for Arsenal to officially announce any deals, if there is any!”
—————————————————–
Also, from past experience Arsenal will not make an announcement, official or otherwise, until the medicals have been passed, the transfer fees agreed, contracts signed and player registrations transfered and registered. Some of this can’t happen until the transfer window officially opens.
So, don’t get you knickers in a twist about player transfers, you could do yourself a mischief. If it is all too much for you take a break, take a walk, have a meal, have a nap, make love to your significant other – the list goes on. Return when you are in a better frame of mind. You might even take an extended break until the Charity Shield game kicks off.
Think I’ll stick to taking a walk Cg 😉
Hope this is just for a drunk!!
An RAF Typhoon jet has been scrambled to investigate an incident involving a civilian aircraft carrying 297 passengers in UK airspace, the Ministry of Defence said today.
The aircraft is a Pakistan International Airlines passenger plane which was flying from Pakistan to Manchester, a Manchester Airport spokesman said.
A Ministry of Defence spokesman said ‘Typhoon aircraft from RAF Coningsby were launched today to investigate an incident involving a civilian aircraft within UK airspace; further details will be provided when known.’
A Pakistan International Airlines spokesman said the plane had now landed in the UK but it is not in communication with the pilot.
An RAF Typhoon jet, similar to the one pictured, has been launched to investigate an incident involving a civilian aircraft in UK airspace
A Department for Transport source said: ‘We are aware of an incident. We are assisting the Ministry of Defence and police who are leading the operation.’
An Essex Police spokeswoman said: ‘An incident has occurred on an aircraft. Police and partners are responding.’
Well CG??
Scott – I would advise you take ‘it’ with an ice cold pint of lager or a long tall gin and tonic with a touch of Angostura bitters; followed by a healthy dose of realism/sceptisism. Shake well and take another look.
I come on here for enjoyment.
I have not insulted you in any way nor at any time.
Keep your smart arse comments to yourself.
Hi Rico,
No news on the job front . Interview which I went to yesterday didn’t go too well.
Its been a month now and things looking increasingly tough.
Weather ain’t too good either.
Saw Armand Traore this morning , always thought he was taller than 6 ft. Nice Aston Martin charcoal Black…With all that money he is skanking off QPR you’d think he’d be on a yacht somewhere sunny…
Hope All on board are safe Rico, some of our new signing from Mumbia all stars may be on board
Gridlock @ King’s Cross…
Guess i’ll just enjoy the sunshine…
Dawn has come and gone and another night is over. Time flies when your having fun. I must be off to bed before I fall asleep at and on the keyboard. I can’t afford to mar my mature good looks with a keyboard waffle face. So, I bid you all a Good Afternoon and/or Evening. Keep the Faith fellow Gooners. Till tomorrow.
Scott – If I have offended you, I apologise. It was not my intention to do so.
Where the heck did that all come from guys, take a chill pill….
Ok CG, i will take you at your word.
All good.
Only another week to go…
The majority of the ST’s will be re-newed.
Then Wenger will tell us the truth…
“No big signings are needed, blah blah blah”.
“This is the stdongest squad i’ve ever had, yardy ya ya”…
Fingers crossed for you George, hope some good news comes your way on the job front.
Hope the rain stops too, fed up with it….
Thank you Scott/Cg..
Now I can go off for an hour 😉
Laters…
Scott, you plonker, think you’ll find CG was replying to me about me askingif he was insinuating that you were winding me up about Messi hence you thinking he was having a pop at you… He wasn’t it was responding to my comment mate…!
Cheers CG sleep well..!
You can go off anytime you want Rico…. 😉
Don’t going getting all lobster red while sunbathing butt naked on your bonnet AK……
Scott/CG.
Just banter. To lighten the moment, the best football put down I ever heard was when Wenger riled old red nose. Red Nose was gutted we had won claiming Man Utd were the better team. In response Wenger said “Everyone thinks they have the prettiest wife at home!” Fergie the red nosed Bully lost the plot and I still chuckle.
Afternoon all,
I’d be extremely disappointed if we started the season with Benteke up front, we can do much better than that.
Its also worth remembering a bird in the hand can shit on your wrist as well.
Well Remembered Kevin,Goes with the flying pizzas and Keown scaring the shit out of Van Nistelrooy.
Micko, you get the Cesc shirt i sent you 😉
I don’t mind Benteke, I think there is better around for sure but also a hell of a lot worse and the bloke does score is young and has said a few times he’s Arsenal. him and someone better would be good business if & when it happens… obviously the someone better is Messi as Scott has assured me it’s a done deal.
Micko a bird in the hand shits on your wrist lool..
Thanks Rico..
“Diaby will be like a new signing”………..
Ha ha ha Scott you are misleading folks again… you told me Le Squid was going to be our rock at the back…
Night Cg…
After all btw…
Hi Micko, where did you get that crap saying about bird in your hand from… ha ha ha…
Benteke has a bad reputation for getting itchy feet after short periods at previous clubs Genk and now Villa. We dont need another Adebayor
Greetings Ts…………!
George who is this Diaby fella………..?
I just worked out why a lot of folks get bored with the team…. guess what… for the first time in ages we do not have an African dancing when the team scores… next season AW will unleash Aneke to do the Azonto for you all……
Greeting Mr WATH…
Abu Dhabi is a walking investment plan… he turns up 3 months in a year and take £3.5M home…
If we gonna gamble on someone this Bony fella looks handy in front of goal…!
My mate Yilmaz another option but I would expect a lot more than Bony when it comes to the expected fee..!
Who has seen much of Strootman…? Is he not more attacking midfield than defensive midfield or a bit of an all rounder..?
tsgh I used to squirm watching the war dances , a boring kiss on the shirt does it for me
Ts, Chuks could be a good squad player in my opinion, don’t think Afobe good enough despite the injuries and think best all round if he is also let go…! We do miss the Ebooooie war dance…!
Jay, when ever anyone kisses the badge I get the puke inducing image of Lampard for some reason… Gross….! War dance all day long pleeeeze…!
hahahaha ben-fuckin-teke!
I like the look of both players WATH but it Bony has grafted in 2nd tier leagues across Europe and he has scored goals where ever he has been…
Yilmaz’s figures look very good and since you mentioned him the 2 matches I saw he looks decent but it seems he is a shadow of Didier so…. but Chelsea have lodged an inquiry with Galatasaray about £20m-rated Turkey striker Burak Yilmaz.
Strootman showed promise like Mvila 2 years ago but this season like PSV… there game has been lacklustre so… I prefer Georginio Wijnaldum
WATH what I should say is he is no defensive than Carrick or Ramsey…
Sorry Georginio is a bit attacking minded…
😀 Jay… WATH tunes in to Turkish football just to watch Eboue dive and do the dance…
But Cesc kissing the badge was honourable not… lol
WATH I am told you are a maestro on a revolving dance floor…?
Sorry I must be thinking of players that deseved to kiss the badge such as T.H.14 Tony Adams, Pires etc
Micko: you forgot to mention what you would do with the brazilian in the bush!
Overall though a good joke, you played it well.
Jay thing is the ones that deserve to kiss the badge never do cos they know….!
I taught Ebooie all his dance floor moves Ts, Ask Adam, he was bewildered when I showed him, after that he went out and bought the red spandex strides…!
Wath, it’s early yet, Postman Pat is probably still supping on his 2nd Guinness right now.
tsgh, the Stewart Robson I used to watch was a central midfielder.
I know we all mock Diaby, but a very reliable source has told us he’s the first name on the French team sheet when fit………..
Got it TSGH loved his boxing antics, got to love him regardless of his diving capers. When he done John Terry he endeared himself to Gooners
Ha ha ha… Finally the truth is out Micko, AW and Le Blanc are the reliable sources you keep referring to…
Diaby needs a witch doctor as I say… lol
Wavy, if your talking about Julio Cesar I’d sign him up !
Spot on tsgh ,The witch Doctor just needs to remove his wallet that he falls over every morning
Ah… my bad I thought Robson was a winger… the o nly Robson who was a CAM and very decent was Brian… everytime I remember him, I think of him and the sky presenter getting caught in bed by his Mrs…
Clare Tomlinson is the name… lol
Micko with FIFA finally introducing blood test from 2014… I do not think AW will be going next to Caesar if certain rumours are true…
You was nearly right mate Robson was a Whinger not a winger
remember the eboue warm up?
Class…
Ts, Clare was Ex Arsenal PR lady……….. She was also on crutches as had broken her leg at the time so no idea why Robson was into her and the plaster.. bit kinky obviously..!
She Couldnt really run away WATH,whatever he was after.
I reckon that was the only reason he grabbed her mate she was hardly an oil painting was she….! plus she was a swampie as well…!
Looked like someone had hit her with a shovel, mind you I would do her a favour perhaps
Didn’t know that tsgh, obviously went over my head at the time.
You men don’t hold back… Clare was ok… 20 years ago though… lol
Definitely some kinky ex-player with drinking problem crap…
She later said she was a spuddie…. double agent in my eyes…
You are kidding Micko?? WATH was the private dectective who Mrs Robson hired to uncover the kinky sessions… I hear he still has the videos…
http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Married+Robbo's+fling+with+Sky+girl.-a060398743
There you go TSGH,the reason she was a minger was because she was a Spuddie,Related to the munters in the Spurs kit celebrating Newcastles equaliser HaHa
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder lads, Ian Wright will vouch for that !
Surely Even Wrighty Wouldnt see beauty in those 2 Spurs fans with the bingo wings would he.Mind you he always F…..d Spurs
Jay you really despite the spuddies…
Tsgh I really shouldnt ,should i they have given me more laughs than I could tell you over the years .F….g morons
Jay, do ya remember him leaning against the post at Highbury with 2 fingers stuck up towards the spurs supporters, he knew how to get up their noses, probably get a 3 match ban for that now.
I do remember it well Micko, and he did get a ban, regardless of the racist abuse he was getting from them.
Micko, wouldn’t want Julio Caesar, he got brutally murdered in the third act. No longevity or contractual loyalty there then. Furthermore he suffered throughout his life of the “falling sickness” so often on the sick!
No not for me. I prefer the brazilian in the ……..!
Stuart Robson is a public schoolboy lout! Privileged education and turned into a nob. But don’t they all?
Desailly is advising Bale to leave the Spuds, according to reports.Hope he listens eh guys
Whoever has been listening to Talk Sport!
Please stop doing it. It’s really silly.
catch you later all…
Wrighty has always known how to irritate the dead sea dwellers..! He loves it too…!
As you say Jay they have given us many a laugh over the years but they really are such mongs…! Delirious dickheads from Middlesex..!
Cheers George…………

Chavs beat münchen easy peasy!
So all public school boys turn into nobs?? How about people that say such comments are dick heads! What a ridiculous statement…..
Good morning Lady and Gentlemen.
The spuddies must be tearing their hair about this………..
The Europa League winners will qualify for the Champions League from the 2015-16 season, it was confirmed at UEFA’s Congress today.
UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino announced the rule change which aims to make the second-tier European tournament more attractive to clubs.
Infantino did not confirm the full details, but it is understood that Europa League winners and Champions League winners will no longer take a place from the domestic leagues if they finish outside of the Champions League qualifying spots.
Devil, they will never win it so it doesn’t matter :).
How are you mate?
Our game was rained out today, no Arsenal….bloody slow weekend!
Hi Lee.
I was public school boy, so there might be some truth to that statement 🙂
You are funny Scott! 😆
So when are the marquee signings going to start turning up at The Arsenal…..?
http://redlondon.net/2013/05/24/picture-wayne-rooney-in-arsenal-colours-the-image-you-never-expected-to-see/?
Pay for your ST and i will tell you 🙂
I guess the Rooney possibility depends on whether he will cop a pay cut to stay in England.
A big pay cut!!
Morning Lee, Scott and all..
Got fitness class this morning, new post at 9.30 but should be back…
Laters…
Daily Mail claiming that we are offering Rooney £200 grand a week plus add ons.
Bet Higuain and Jovetic’s agents are rubbing their hands now.
