Decision made…

Finally, a decision has been made on Project Restart. It’s happening, or rather it’s been given the go ahead by the British government. June the 1st is the earliest this season can kickstart into action but behind closed doors. It was always going to be behind closed doors. Now it’s over to the English football authorities to announce their plans. Yep, that’s the tricky part. Neutral grounds or not seems to be the proverbial ball tossing  around in the air. I can’t see what the fuss about home fan advantage is really as it’s going to be the same for everyone. If footballers at relegation threatened clubs can’t dig in for survival without their twelfth man then it’s a lesson for their respective managers. In any case, their twelfth man can’t have helped that much so far otherwise they wouldn’t be hovering around at the bottom of the league table.

Football clubs are placed where where they are now because of the way they’ve played since the season kicked off so get over it I say. I doubt anyone would listen to an Arsenal sob story if there was one. Like, can’t we be judged on our results post Unai Emery should Project Restart crash and League placements have to be decided by some kind of points average? Of course not and rightly so. It’s not the Premier League’s fault that Arsenal were a bit slow in replacing Unai Emery.

Watching a game of football being played in front of an empty stadium is going to be weird. The microphones inside the stadium will pick up every word said, or rather shouted. The air will be blue as the expression goes when swearing is in full flow and we’ve all experienced that whilst stood/sat in the stands. I think clubs will have to switch off all the microphones so managers/coaches/players can’t be heard or better still, have a recording of fans in full voice playing throughout the ninety minutes with the club who would have been hosting the game choosing the recording. Arsenal could run with a NLD recording from our days at Highbury. Just a thought.

Anyway, barring any second Coronavirus spike, which to say would be awful is an understatement, Premier League football is set to return sometime after June 1st. One fixture a week would see this campaign run into August so I guess it’ll be two and that’s assuming the restart kicks off over the first weekend 6th & 7th. If domestic cup fixtures are included, maybe three. The Bundesliga kicks off this weekend so ‘watch this space’ or theirs. Lol

At some stage, the summer transfer window will open. When, or for how long is anyone’s guess. Plus there’s the physical side of the transfer, the movement from one country and another. Thank goodness that’s someone else’s problem to deal with eh.

I’m still far from convinced that football returning is a good thing for those involved. In theory it’s great because fans around the world are no doubt desperate to see their club back in action but they/we are not the ones going out there and putting ourselves at risk of catching the virus. I don’t even go shopping without a face mask and gloves yet still I feel vulnerable but then that’s because once inside a supermarket, I’m often surrounded by idiots who clearly don’t know what a distance two metres looks like.

Stay safe guys….

Spot on Rico………………………….I remember playing Sunday League football and we never had a crowd home or away ! ……………………..if we could have had ten fans I`m sure we would not have been so shit! 😆

If I was black I would refuse to play seeing that black people have more than twice the chance of catching the virus and dying and the leagues are made up of over 30% black players!

    Fake fans , Sue !
Bit like canned laughter in TV comedies. They can be usefull, I use a recording of Spud fans moaning and crying to help when I make love to the wife! 😆

  3. Le Coq Monster says:

Not just the fans Rico, I think even the players were joining in with the booing of Emery!
    😆

See Denis Suarez reckons he was only fit for one week at Arsenal………………………..what is it with out medical team?…….are they trying to run our club as a charity to the infirm players of the world!………..the man walks into the medical on crutches and he gets a fit to play certificate!
    😆

They certainly downed tools for him Lc.

Suarez suffered injury after he joined us didn’t he? I’m not sure but thought I’d read it somewhere.

    🤣🤣 Le Coq!!

Imagine what that app would be like if you had owt to do with it!!! Defo one for after the watershed 😝
Bloody hell, imagine what this window will be like then?! 5 new players, 4 won’t be available for at least 3 months haha!!

Rico.. the idea is growing on me.. I didn’t like watching Juve v Inter back in March, with no fans, was really odd, so it needs something! Would love it if we heard all the usual stuff on it though – I mean imagine if Mike Dean officiates.our first game?!! 😉

  7. rico says:

The game certainly needs something Sue.

Yes, any reply Lc gives will get binned if he breaches the watershed. He sails close to the wind at the best of times.. 😆

    Good morning Rico .

The Premiership are working towards a restart on 12th June, but the controversy over the use of neutral venues has not gone away. Up till now the bottom six clubs have been opposed to the idea but as only fourteen votes in favour of the decision would be enough to carry it through, they looked like losing. Now though it seems that three more clubs have joined the opposition and they are Chelsea, Spurs and, wait for it, Arsenal. If that is the case, the planned restart is dead in the water.

    Morning Cicero.

I can understand why Arsenal would be against it because Mikel knows first hand what the virus feels like, same with Chelsea but if a restart is binned then imo, so should this entire season.

The north bank mural and the sound system could be reintroduced , maybe we could get that parachutist to try his luck again and see if he could make the pitch this time.

I’ve not heard the full expletive ridden interview with Danny Rose, who obviously isn’t keen to start playing football again and he is entitled to his opinion.

I just wonder how his opinion would shift if his club refused to pay him during his self imposed strike if that’s his intention?

Obviously Danny expects the workers at his local supermarket to continue to serve him.
Although as a millionaire I’d expect that Danny does his shopping on line.

  12. Aussie Geoff says:

Hi Rico and all we can fix the empty stadium problem by filling the seats with carboard cut out of fans then add sound affects, I know Rico back to the drawing board and look for a better idea LOL

  13. Aussie Geoff says:

If Dennis Suarez claims he was only fit for 1 week while he was at Arsenal then was it the medical team or was it just him not fit enough and not wanting to be at the club but some one is letting our club down but having said that we do have a habit of buying injured players in the past.

Love it, Sue……………..I never tire of anything that ridicules The Spuds! 😆

Just watching SAS and you can see that Tony Bellew would love to chin Ant hahaha
