Deal reportedly done. Odds stacked against us & Wenger wants Lyon pair……

Morning all,

Well well, what a shock that was for the rich kids of Manchester…..

Out fought and at times, totally outplayed in yesterday’s FA Cup Final – well done to them.

Reminded me so much of what happened to us in the Capital One Cup just a few seasons ago, odds on favourites to win, yet approach and desire on the day failed to match that of the under dogs…

A very late goal shot down City, not quite as late as the one that broke all of our hearts, regardless, the outcome was the same…..

Wigan worked hard and they got what they deserved, just what that will do for them ahead of their visit to The Emirates is any one’s guess but my own thought is they will be fired up after their victory.

Tuesday will be like another cup final for them in my opinion. They need the points to survive in the league, they will fight us from start to finish. They will work hard for themselves and each other…

There will be no let up!!

And one statistic goes against us. No side has ever won the FA Cup and been relegated from the Premier League in the same season…

But you all know my motto by now, there’s always a first time for everything and if I’m honest, I don’t care if Wigan get relegated, if they do, it’s one less trip ‘oop norf’ that we have to face. After all, we don’t like it up there do we?

Martinez would no doubt be sad if he couldn’t keep his side in the top flight, but I am convinced he’s heading to Goodison Park in the summer……

Anyway, that’s the FA Cup done for another season, this time next year, I want our name on it!

Gossip pages are heading into overdrive now that there is just seven days left of this current Premier League season. No doubt once the Champions League final is done and dusted, it will get a lot worse.

It’s fun though, I love the transfer window and we are well overdue a good one…

According to Italian web sites, we are in talks with Real Madrid about Higuaín, they suggest the same about Ashley Williams of Swansea. How the Italian press know that is beyond me, unless of course they are making it up. Or picking up what has been written in the red tops over here a few weeks ago.

Then, an ‘insider’ (no, not in prison) at Fiorentina has said Jovetic will be an Arsenal player next season, regardless of where we finish in the league.

Then we have the French newspaper Le 10 Sport suggesting Wenger is ready to make Lyon (Remi Garde’s club) an offer they can’t refuse for Maxime Gonalons and Clement Grenier. I’ve never heard of the latter.. Apparently the French club are struggling to balance their books so are an easy target….

Then here, yesterday it was United’s Rooney, today it’s City’s Dzeko……

I was going to say ‘you can’t make it up’, but I think some of them do…

Let’s hope Pulis plays fair later today. His Stoke side still aren’t 100% secure so maybe he’ll go all out for three points….

That’s it for another day, have a good one….

Considering our style of taking years to confirm deals, I am incline to believe the Jovetic deal is done.. We all remembered nasri’s deal took months for wenger and Arsenal to confirm.. Even the Podolski’s deal was denied by wenger.. I pray its true… The other news is suspect! Wenger won’t sign Higuain and Jovtic in the same window, with Giroud still @ Arsenal. One love..

  2. Scott from Oz says:

    Morning all.
Citeh losing that game was just beautiful.
The only thing better would have been us beating them, but we can not have it all.
Transfers……i do find it strange that the press in countries with absolutely no ties to the clubs or players involved manage to come up with their rumours.

  3. Scott from Oz says:

Tunday, Bendtner is going, and maybe Wenger has had enough of Gervinho, so two out and two in…..why not?
That is not to mention Park.

  4. rico says:

Jovetic would be a good start tunday, but still would need a true goal scorer…

    Wayne for me – 🙂

Same here Scott, but that stuff about Higuain was in the English papers, bit of copy and paste I think 😉

  5. frednerk says:

    Morning All,
Deal done ? where have we heard that before.
Jovetic looks a replacement for Poldolski,if what we read is true.
Some say………..if its not on the arsenal web site,
    don’t believe a word.
    Well I don’t believe a word,even if it is.

  6. Scott from Oz says:

    Hi Rico,
Are you suggesting we sell Chamakh 🙂
Higuain being linked is certainly doing the rounds, and i hope there is some truth to it….you never know, Arsenal Alaska may well be right on his one lol

  7. Adam says:

Good morning Rico and all. Podolski, Gervinho and Giroud could all go for me. Doubt that Arsene feels the same though.

  8. rico says:

    Hi fred, or Arshavin 😉

    I’m like you though, until it’s official, it’s just a story…

Indeed Scott, hard to believe I would suggest such a thing eh. Is Arsenal Alaska where the Higuain story started?

  9. devilgunner says:

    Good write up Rico.

YEs we lost the cup final to the Brummies. And Shitty lost to Wigan. The common theme there????? Ahhhh of course Nasri isnt it.

    Same attitude.

Good day Lady and Gentlemen. Off to celebrate Mother’s day here. And to celebrate???????………….my birthday. 🙂

  10. rico says:

I’ll get back to you on that one Adam 😉

Seriously, I would keep him to come off the bench or to use when resting Rooney…

  11. frednerk says:

Rumours in italy about Jovetic,is that he would want the 8 shirt,
but has been told 9 could be available?

  12. Adam says:

But he takes so long getting up off the bench Rico. After applying gel and a hair dryer to maintain his marvelous quiff, trimming his designer stubble and spreading glue on his boots, the game is over.

  13. frednerk says:

BT web site are saying the sunday papers are full of rooney rumours to us.
That would be a statement,if true?

  14. rico says:

    😆 fred…

I think you are too hard Adam, poor guy, it’s his first season, he’s not built for speed, he’s built to last….

  15. rico says:

fred, blame me for Rooney, that was in my post yesterday 😉 😉

I’d love it if he signed….

  16. Adam says:

Like a great ocean going liner Rico. With a turning circle to match. Not quick enough, mobile enough and with a heart the size of a pea.

  17. rico says:

They do Adam.. Once we can get there full coverage we will sign up. But the area I live in hasn’t go access yet. Infinity I think it’s called..

  18. rico says:

He’s not that bad imho – once he starts converting his chances, he could be a good squad player.

  19. rico says:

Gabriel, just repeating what the pundits said yesterday. In any case, get back to you village, people are out looking for you….

  20. Fanzee says:

Nice one lad. Ive heard of d jovetic, hiquain rumour. Bt i’l dfnately go 4 Yilmaz and jovetic… Ajax’s Eriksen would be a great addition in d mdfield. Though i trust wenger 2 sign just jovetic and end of d day he comes out 2 say ” we lookd bt didnt find mch quality dat we nided” bt hwever it is dude, Once a guner, ALWAYS. Gud morning all.

  21. Scott from Oz says:

Eico, Arsenal Alaska is the very same site that told the world Jose would go to Yanited, so i feel they are highly reliable as a source 🙂

  22. rico says:

Out of interest, seems ITV were right…!

Portsmouth were moderately successful in the first decade of the 21st century, especially during the 2007–08 Premier League season, when they won the FA Cup, beating Cardiff City 1–0 in the final. They subsequently qualified for the 2008–09 UEFA Cup (now Europa League) competing against European heavyweights such as seven times European Cup winners A.C. Milan. During this period, Portsmouth were recognised to have a large number of international footballers, including England players Glen Johnson and Jermain Defoe, as well as Peter Crouch, David James and Sol Campbell. However, financial problems soon set in and Portsmouth were relegated to the Football League Championship in 2010.

  23. Scott from Oz says:

On Giroud, picture an inelligent (on the field, i mean lol) player like Rooney running off Giroud…it would be dynamite.
With all due respect to our “strikers” none read the play well enough to take advantage of Girouds hold up play and flick ons.

  24. rico says:

Totally agree Wath, couldn’t have put it better myself…

Ha ha Scott, I didn’t want to mention that I was right over the Jose story – I don’t like to brag you see 😉

  25. allezkev says:

    Morning Rico, Adam, et al…

    Rooney to Arsenal?!!!

Boss, I know you like to pop up with conversation pieces, but do you ‘really’ think that there is any substance to that rumour???

More chance of Adam winning the Turner Prize, methinks… 😉

  26. rico says:

    Scott, I’m there already…

That’s because none of them are true strikers, we haven’t had one of those since Eduardo…

Ok, we had some old badger who got lucky last season, but besides him…

  27. Adam says:

Kev. Remind me to show you my painting called “The Diffusion Of Light”. People tell me it is a masterpiece.
I think Gabriel would like it too. 🙂

  28. rico says:

Unless he’s goes to Man City for the extra money to keep Colon happy in Manchester…. 🙂

    Adam, they were, hugely..

  29. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, i truly believed Jose would on them….i could not have got it more wrong-what can i say….wrong.
Thanks for not sticking it in, but remember, Aaron will come good for me 🙂 🙂

  30. Adam says:

No Kev, unfortunately my limited imagination could not conceive that. It was done by the gorgeous Tracey Emin.

  31. allezkev says:

Arsenal paying Rooney £250k per week….?

    Not gonna happen folks.

But let the Press run with it whilst Wenger buys a striker from Ligue Un…

  32. W.A.T.H says:

AK, plenty ways to skin a cat you should know how to make it look like you only earn 5k a week when in fact your on 20k a week 😉
We did it with DB10 it’s not difficult if the intent is there to make it happen.

  33. Adam says:

Rico. Silly me. I thought it was a new life form in the shape of a human organ. I hear she is a wonderful mother though with her own fashion range and Tarmac business too.

  34. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, i spanked Barca 8-0 on Fifa.
Not bad considering i had consumed massive amounts of alcohol before hand lol
Aaron scored 4 in that one 🙂

  35. allezkev says:

Ah, Tracey of the crooked gob fame…
    I’m with ya now Adam…

    What about The Scream, Adam….
Was that you perchance, following the Carling Cup final vs Brum…

  36. rico says:

Sky Sports are ‘live in Manchester, preparing to say goodbye to old Red Nose’

    Sad b******s 😉

  37. allezkev says:

Yeah Wath, I see your point.

Talking of dough, I have to go to work.
    I can’t layabout like all you millionaires…

    Lata 😀

  38. rico says:

I heard that too Adam, apparently the roads in London are quite bad after all the awful weather so she wants Wayne to move down south to help her sort it out….

They have a brand new Coachman all ready to go….

  39. W.A.T.H says:

As we speak AK Lee is in his helicopter searching out land for his new Castle….! Drive safe mate.

    I am reliably informed…!

  40. Scott from Oz says:

I have assembled a side Bayern could only dream about.
Aaron is cm, dm, fb, cb, lb, gk, st, lw and rw.
I know that is only 9 players, but with 9 Aarons, why other wasting wages 🙂

  41. Scott from Oz says:

    Be nice Adam 🙂
Rico, as i have mentioned, m brother has been doing it tough of late, and sometimes a big brother just needs to do what he must in that situation….take him out and get him pissed.
After that, Fifa was on and i did more in 2 hours than Fergie did in 27 years 🙂

  42. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, please remind Adam i have been very aware of his feelings when speaking of Squillaci please…

  43. Adam says:

Squilli is being put out to pasture so he can no longer be ridiculed. He is to be employed as a stud horse. If such a thing exists.

  44. Scott from Oz says:

Adam, the definition of a gat sire is to thrown progeny better than himself.
    Squillaci shouldn’t find this task difficult 🙂 🙂 🙂

  45. rico says:

Sounds like hard work Adam… 😉

I too am off to walk Fido, want to be back in time to watch Stoke 😉

Catch you all in a while..

You’ll be in bed by then Scott so Night to you…..

  46. Scott from Oz says:

I will be up Rico, have no fear.
Boredom may wear me down soon after kick off though…

  47. Sami says:

Liing in France, I can say that Grenier is a wonderful player… Skill, vision, close control, languid style and deceptively fast. Huge potential. Could be another Pires. Can also play left, right or through the middle.

  48. Scott from Oz says:

Wath, as embarrasing as it is to admit, it was the premix variety with Dry Ginger Ale.
It was at a club, and clubs here tend to hae very few whisky varieties by the bottle, and charge like a wounded bull for them by the nip.
I am no connoisseur, but i love a few ice cubes, and nothing else with decent whisky.

  49. tsgh says:

    Hi all,

A grand Happy Birthday to the Dev himself… felicem diem natalem.. 🙂

Rico wants wooney, Rico wants Wooney!

  50. W.A.T.H says:

Agreed Scott a good whiskey should be drunk merely with an ice cube and that’s it…. A the premix version… Been years since I last drank Canadian Club used to enjoy it once in a while.

  51. devilgunner says:

Rico…….Wooney hasnt got nice thighs. They are those of a troll compared to those of Van Pursie and Torres….. 😉

  52. tsgh says:

Why are will still shopping from France…? Its too 1999 for my liking… Capoue, Lavezzi, Lisandro Lopez, Ayew and Pastore only… the rest are Gerv in disguise…

Serie A I do not watch enough games apart from Juve and their cheating ways so can’t comment but imho the fee on Jovetic can be spent on a better accomplished player…El Shaarawy anyone?

Why is the German Wenger oh… the french man not shopping from the Frankfurt and Dusseldorf etc… the likes of Fabian Giefer, Seb Jung will offer us something else.

For forward players Szalai is good and even the old man Stefan Keisling will offer goals and workrate to make us competitive again…

  53. W.A.T.H says:

Hi Sami, sorry for the delay all first posts go into moderation, good to hear your comments…! How old is Grenier…?

Hi Dev, hope you got a great big birthday cake for all those candles my friend 😉

  54. W.A.T.H says:

Ts, I like Yilmaz as well from Galatas, proper goalscorer and really puts himself about…! I don’t think we will end up paying what the papers are saying for Jovetic, I also think the deal was done a while ago…! Def good players in Germany and eastern Europe… Would El Shaarawy come to us or is he not who they building their “new” around..?

  55. W.A.T.H says:

Ts, I am worried we see on sky that the fire brigade called to a house in Malta for big fire that turned out to be Dev and all the candles on his cake 😉

  56. tsgh says:

Good point WATH… I don’t know a lot about Burak to be honest but he has outscored Sow so he must be good in the Super lig..

I didn’t picture you watching Turkish football just to watch Eboue…? 😉

Thed Turks are hard to buy from but they always manage to build strong teams…

  57. Scott from Oz says:

    You ruined it Wath.
When asked, i was gonna say “dunno, never seen the sucker play, but thanks for asking” 🙂

  58. tsgh says:

Hi My buddy Scott… because you only love Ramsey and yourself… 🙂 You have given up on AW so can’t trust your opinion 😀

    How you doing…?

  59. Scott from Oz says:

Given up on Arsene…not me mate, not me!!
The only time i said would do that is if he sells Jack or Aaron this time around.
Selling Aaron would get us Messi and have a few bob left over, but still 🙂

  60. Scott from Oz says:

I know mate, that is why the deal was so easy lol.
Santos…….a born winger who people thought was a back…..

  61. Scott from Oz says:

Normally when criticising the defensive capablities of a player, i’d suggest “he couldn’t tackle a good feed”, but we just know that isn’t the case with our Andre!!

  62. W.A.T.H says:

Ts, you got me fella I only watch Gal to watch King Eboooooie 😉

That Yilmaz fella big strong quick 2 good feet and good in the air, would be a good buy I reckon although would Benteke be a better idea and already settled in prem lge..!

  63. W.A.T.H says:

No worries Scott the premixes are easy drinking when in a boozer especially if your gonna get ripped off for ordering out the bottle and your own mixers…!

    Ts, Na$ri = Bellend 1st class…!

  64. tsgh says:

WATH, I really rate Benteke… he reminds me of Batistuta.

I think football has gone back to the 90’s where power and workrate wins over natural skill imho… I would rather get 6/10 players who work hard to make up than 7/10 players who think turning up is enough to win a match… 😉

  65. Scott from Oz says:

Ginge, i reckon you need a mix.
You need your toilers and spoilers, but the touch of class to finsih a move off….this is what we lack.
Funny, 2-3 years back, we had all the show with no go.

  66. W.A.T.H says:

Agreed Ts, but why can’t you have skill power and workrate…?
Benteke has something about him that’s for sure and a self confessed Gooner so do we go calling..? I still say Tom Ince as well.

    I thought Scott was a jock…?

  67. Scott from Oz says:

Guys, i am one third Aussie, a third Kiwi, a third Welsh and the rest is English 🙂

  68. Micko says:

    Hello all,
St.Tottingham’s Day needs to get done and dusted, the club are taking the pish leaving it so late this year.

  69. allezkev says:

    Scott, leave those sheep alone…

Ginge, I found it strangely satisfying, watching Nasri being substituted yesterday.
It brought back all those memories of him disappearing in an Arsenal shirt, when we were up against it…

    Karma eh?

  70. W.A.T.H says:

Totally agree Micko, need to shut those sheenie fuckers up ASAP…!

    Scott ur a pavement special…!

  71. Micko says:

I expect spurs to play a big part in it this afternoon rico and us to naturally put them to bed by Wednesday…..who am I kidding.

  72. allezkev says:

Maloney, McCarthy, McManaman, a couple of them could be worth a punt, when Wigan go down…
Not on huge wages and wouldn’t cost a fortune in transfer fees either…

    Lata

  73. Scott from Oz says:

    Love it.
    Love it.
    Love it.
And people wanted us to sign Dempsey.
Maybe we did, because giving that free kick up was suicide hahahahahaha

  74. rico says:

So ‘Arry can talk sense….. From the BBC website

QPR manager Harry Redknapp believes officials have been “afraid to upset” Sir Alex Ferguson, as he praised the contribution of the retiring Manchester United boss.

Everton boss David Moyes, 50, will take over on 1 July from the Scot, 71, who announced his retirement on Wednesday.

“A lot of officials would be in awe of him and afraid to upset him,”

Redknapp told Radio 5 live’s Sportsweek.

“There was such an aura about him because he is a winner.”
Redknapp added: “I never had any doubts about that. If there was a bit of time to be added they would make sure they got it right because they did not want to upset him.

“Especially young referees, and even one or two of the older ones, were a little bit afraid to upset him.”

    The truth about “Fergie time”

When Man Utd were losing, they had an average of four minutes and 37 seconds added time, compared with three minutes and 18 seconds when they were winning”

Fergie time: Does it really exist?

  75. rico says:

    That was close…..

Scott, let’s see if they are when the final whistle is due, there’s a long way to go and Pulis could do anything yet….

  76. Scott from Oz says:

    And we want this keeper….really??
If that was Kozzer of Fabs, we would bearing shreds off them right now.
    What shit keeping.

  77. rico says:

And so the Stoke players begin to lack effort…

This game has one result written all over it….

  78. W.A.T.H says:

Poolis is such a wanker… This has don’t worry lads we don’t want Arsenal is Europe take it easy out there today…!

  79. Micko says:

My local was robbed / trashed last night, not guilty btw, otherwise I’d be up there watching it, a bit of a result by the sound of things.

  80. potter says:

When have they ever ? . Totts were all over the place until they scored now they are the better team. Still we live in hope.

  81. Josh says:

  82. tsgh says:

    Apologies guys…I lost my wi-fi connection…

Rico, I love me a Wooney as I am also a masochist like him according Adam’s profiling. lol but he is a turd expensive for what he will bring imho… manure don’t do discount as far as I am aware… I will take Judas back for 10 Mil…

WATH, you know like you I prefer Ince to the younger Gerv from Palace moving to Old Toilet…

Scott, you have a point but what I always ask is if the current Bayern Munich team man to man are 20 points better off than BVB?

Or is it because FC Munchen have played together since 2009 at least… and BVB are like us in terms of selling every year. In terms of skill I rate only Ribery and the diving superintendent Robben only but the team works hard..

  83. Nazereth says:

These few days has seen an avalanche of news about rf and Moyes. I think the game in England better be called :
    Manchester UTd football championship.
All teams will be renamed Man U (Stoke) ,Man U (Spurs)etc.
I am getting sick and tired of all the attention on the rf.For starters he is endowed with billions of euros/pounds. So how can he not win most if not 100% of the time?
It’s like the US. When the superpower goes to war,it will inevitably win because of the weapons and so on.
Mu aint any different .The only difference is he wanted to be the emperor of the cl but has been found wanting. All his two cl wins were due to luck .
I can’t wait for Wenger to get out of his slump and finally push the gunners to challenge. If he can’t do it,get someone. It’s a gamble worth taking.

  84. tsgh says:

Kev re your 1:13 post, that ‘rat’ missed an open goal against Brummie in the final to take us 2-0 up and then told the gullible he only wanted out because of trophies and ambition weeks later…

Conspiracy or what? Anything to make the spuddies win

  85. tsgh says:

Does anyone know what Alexis’s future at Barca may be? 18 months ago he was hotter than Falcao now…??? He is worth a short imo…

  86. Wavy says:

Fix is in then. Adam sent off a minute into 2nd half. Marvellous! Scum to win 3-1! You couldn’t make it up, except you could!

  87. W.A.T.H says:

What a complete and utter prick…. absolute shit 4 brains….!

T’s Tom Ince all day long for me mate and the fella is Arsenal and just what we need, proper winger.

  88. bob john says:

One thing is sure. We wont be playing against 10 men on tuesday with Dean reffing unless we are down to 8 or 9.

  89. allezkev says:

Anyone suspicious about some of the refereeing decisions you’ve seen over the last few weeks.
I just get the feeling that there is an agenda from Riley & co, to stitch us up this season…

  90. tsgh says:

Hopefully Di Canio will do us a favour on the last day. Its a shame Newcastle will be playing for their life and Sissoko will have a point to prove… hopeful OG12 will come back and do us a huge service on match day 38…

  91. EastSidePaul says:

Seeing adebayor smile at the end of the match just makes me hope that extra bit more that we finish above the scum.

I don’t get his problem, he leaves the club that made him, Son he could earn more money and ever since he has been obsessed with Arsenal, and can’t seem to close his mouth about us.

Plus how that wasn’t the easiest offside decision of all time is beyond me. We really need to stuff Newcastle and Wigan.

  92. tsgh says:

Kev… I am, but you know I have outlandish views so…;Micko doesn’t believe in such conspiracies even after the Guinness 🙂

  93. tsgh says:

How is Cantona considered Fergies greatest when he could not get into a French squad that could not qualifier for major tournaments…

  94. allezkev says:

I wonder how many times Arsenal have had Dean this season?
I think that he lives about 6 miles from Wigan, so they are kinda his local team…
    Whatever happened to neutral referee’s?

  95. tsgh says:

it beggars belief mate… as I have always asked; in 6 years time will there be a Juve or Marseille revelation about the EPL.

We always seem to get Dean or Dowd after CL matches or international breaks and get the worst decisions… why don’t we get the likes of Atkinson or Clattenburg?

Roger East has only officiated 5 matches this season whilst the fat man has officiated 28. What about Craig Pawson…maybe they are Gooners… 😉

Rico wrote a fabulous post on that last year…

    http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/referees/index.html

  96. potter says:

30.8 miles according to the A.A. . Perhaps we ought to get Riley a big shiny yellow badge and amembership.

  97. tsgh says:

20 refs and they could give us no other ref than the one from near Wigan… I guess as some would say you make your own luck. Losing to the likes of Norwich in October did not help…

  98. Wavy says:

I believe in conspiracies. Told you so, got the result right, although I admit I got the score wrong. Next week the scum will beat Sunderland probably a very late penalty will win the day. Whilst against Wigan we will have at least one player sent off and they will awarded at least 1 questionable goal while we have at least one ruled out for any bizarre reason you care to think of! Newcastle, with nothing to play for will win, mostly due to a few strange refereeing or linos decisions.
Bring it on …..Thursday football. It may be our first trophy for 9 years. Silver lining?

  99. tsgh says:

Hi Potter… Riley wants a membership alright just not ours…

Gill leaving in June was suspicious to me… and the fact that people think Fergie loves Old Trafford but failed to appoint a manager who could challenge his legacy is dubious… Pep was allegedly waiting but was told by Fergie he would not retire in the next 2 years…

…..as the fans’ banner says, it is, ‘more than a religion’

  100. tsgh says:

Its funny… Pellegrini… I have always respected the man but come on… Malaga’s position and his squadf says it all…

6 years ago I said to a mate that Manuel is a manager I would love to replace Aw or have the opportunity to manage a rich club but he has failed or his big gigs except last season’s 4th finish in La liga imho..

  101. Wavy says:

Riley’s not appointing managers and sacking them too, is he?
Told you the fix was in! It must run even deeper than I ever thought!
Roll on the New of the World’s reissue first story, Refs Bent. How they buggered the Arsenal dream. Riley over a barrel! Tell tale story started in the boot rooms of the EPL smaller clubs. Tottenham high road on trial!
    Etc etc

  102. ArsenalDK says:

Stoke 1 – 2 Shittenham. Why do we always have to make things hard on our selves? Now we have to win the remaining matches. Are we good under pressure? No. Will Wigan and Newcastle be easy games? No. Can we pull it off? Maybe…

  103. rico says:

It’s all a cunning plan Ak, we will finish 5th, the Toots will get their day and then we will rebuild 😉

  104. devilgunner says:

Back now. Really enjoyed myself. Surrounded with family, celebrating mother’s day and also my birthday.

That was one almighty good dinner.

Managed to down a whole bottle of PEACH WINE. Now that was delicious. 🙂

    We signed anyone yet? 🙁

I have been saying all along that there is a fix somewhere in the corridorial powers that be. Some things never change…..whether they be in Italy, Spain, England or Malta. You get used to them. And when you see them happen you realise there is a pattern.

Its up to us to break that pattern.

If we need to finish in the Europa and AW plays with the kids and reserves in the first rounds than so be it.

Imo AW should play the top players (if he gets them) in the LGE and the others he plays them in the Europa, League Cup and FA cup. Players would get enough rest and will not find it difficult to play on Saturday. They would have the whole week to get rested.

  105. tsgh says:

Hey Dev… I am glad you had a good one… WATH reckons you had 51 candles on your cake… 🙂

Seriously though, hope you have an even better year than the one just passed. God Bless… buddy

  106. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Afternoon to the Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

Watching the Stoke RFC vs. Spuds game was the strangest experience. I know what result I wanted, but I couldn’t bring myself to cheer for Stoke. I’d love to see the Nuckle Draggers go down. In the end it was clueless Tony Pubis’ “get it up ’em” ethos that cost them the game with Adam being sent off. Pubis and AVB seem to be good friends?

  107. devilgunner says:

I hope so Ginge. The one just passed was a good one only in spurts. Overall it was a very difficult year for me made worse by being in positions (at work and sports) I was very uncomfortable in. Now a new chapter in my life is about to begin. there were moments when I felt that I was not living…..simply existing. Hopefully things are about to change.

but no. not 51 candles. 45 only. 🙂

  108. devilgunner says:

    Thanks CG.

In the end I did not know what result I wanted. Stoke to go down or Scum to be 5th.

But unlike many I do prefer the 5th place now seeing that 1st cannot be reached.

At least we would not enter into a competition (CL) which deep in our hearts we know we will not win with the present team. This might force the club to rethink its strategy.

and at least the scum will be the new laughing stock in Europe because believe me……..this time around it will be more difficult for them then when they had ole twitchy at the helm.

  109. tsgh says:

Hi Cg…Nouveau Chateauis too posh for the Calais Utd… Wonga stadium in the Championship… how many more years left on the 9 year contract Pardew signed?

  110. Canadian Gooner says:

DG – I can’t agree with all of that, but I can understand where you’re coming from. Being in the Champions League will be a great help in signing new players.

As for the Spuds, if they make it in, it will be like lambs to the slaughter. Adebuymore will suffer from his usual Second Year Syndrome and be as useless as tits on a bull, a true laughing stock.

  111. tsgh says:

Dev… I know I do not have to reiterate to you that being alive and well makes you a winner the same as the billionaires and the blue bloods… 😉

That is one reason why even though I want success as much as the next man re Arsenal… I decided to not stress about over paid millionaires enjoying a hobby who do not want to apply themselves…

Europa league could be a blessing in disguise and a bruise to Herr Wenger’s ego to compel him to spend this summer…

  112. devilgunner says:

I do have a taste for different wines Potter.

I like the normal wine made from grapes.

But I also like the taste of Peach wine. Of blackcurrant wine. Of Pear wine. And Forest fruit wines made of raspberries, redberries and blue berries.

you just have to taste them mate. And also know where to buy them.

  113. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – No Vain Rooney for me. As I said the other day, an Arsenal player should have an IQ significantly higher than a turnip. Rooney reminds me of the Dustin Hoffman character in Rain Man, an idiot savant to use the old term. If we got him, it would only be until the a better offer comes along.

  114. devilgunner says:

When I go to Italy its a haven for me……..as there are shops when you can buy all the wines you want.

  115. tsgh says:

I wonder what would have happen to Adedawhore if he had not had the ‘epiphany’ on the team coach in Central Africa 3 or 4 years ago… an ungrateful git he is…

I guess he hates himself …

  116. rico says:

We will have to disagree then Cg, I’d love Rooney to choose us, he ticks every box as a striker….

    Ok, he’s a arse, but…..

  117. devilgunner says:

by the time a better offer comes along Wooney’s thighs will be 30…….still good enough to fetch a better fee than the one we bought him for.

And at 27million he will be a good buy. And he will give the team a lift. He might even be to us what Cantona was to Manure.

  118. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – I have to agree with tsgh’s philosophy in his 5:29 pm posting. I like winning as much as the next person, but I don’t want to adopt the American ethos ‘Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing’. Yes, Rooney may bring us some goals, but we’ll also be associated with his bizarre and embarassing off-field behaviours. I want to see Arsenal in the press for winning games and trophies – NOT the antics of a puerile player.

  119. allezkev says:

    STOP PRESS:

Flame thrower prank, on outskirts of wealthy Maltese suburb, has been revealed as a burning birthday cake…

    A man was taken into Police custordy and has been best described as a maniac football coach, and was quoted as saying, as he was bundled into a Police van;
“It was Mick’s fault, bloody Nigerian Guiness”….

  120. Canadian Gooner says:

Kev – Thanks for the laughs. Just what we all need after another disappointing result. You haven’t abandoned your flock.

  121. agirlagunner says:

Happy birthday, Dev. 🙂 I’d send you a bottle of mango wine, if I knew how to ship it. 😛

  122. Canadian Gooner says:

Sister AGAG – I’m with you. I equate Vain Rooney with the likes of the self involved Tom Cruise, better viewed from afar.

  123. devilgunner says:

Mango wine? heard of it but never tasted it.

My cousin did do one with prickly pears, but its taste was not so suave.

Hiya habib. got your message. thanks.

flame thrower??? wish I could do it. I would be a gentleman and allow Poolis in front of me when we go up the stairs and blow my stuff. And then do it on the togolump. Hang on…….do farts, which become gases, catch fire??? 😆

  124. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Everton can reach us…
If Wigan doesn’t win or drwa it will be relegated… jesus!

  125. agirlagunner says:

Dev, the Philippines swims in mangoes over the summer, so some people make mango wines. Best dowed with… surprise surprise… fresh mangoes though. 😉

  126. Canadian Gooner says:

Rico – Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think we could do better. We’ll have to agree to disagree.

  127. Canadian Gooner says:

Well i’m off for a while. I have to phone my Mom and wish her a Happy Mothers Day and make myself some brunch.

  128. devilgunner says:

JM……….do they teach you maths in Portugal???? 😉

Everton cannot reach us mate. just one point behind us if they win their last game.

whatever happens we will finish 5th or 4th. 3rd is a pipe dream

  129. tsgh says:

Rico… re Wooney, as a football and English 10/10 but if we look at the full picture… a 25 y.o who tells United they have no ambition because he wanted 220k p/w is beyond our price range imho… but then again wishing is different I guess…

Aw started talking about Wooney even before he scored against us in 2002 so we all know AW rates him but £40M or 50M for him is a bit excessive imho considering he is not even able to compete with Judas…

  130. tsgh says:

Dev… didn’t you hear Rednose and United guaranteed Everton 4 points for every win for the rest of the season as compensation for Moyes crossing over to the dark side,… 🙂

    Hi Agag… mango wine??

  131. agirlagunner says:

Ginge, only because Dev mentioned fruity wines. 😛

Hiya, Adam. Fergie’s stranglehold on referees has gone on far too long. About time.

  132. rico says:

Ts – I care very little for what has gone by with Rooney. All I honestly believe is, if we could sign him, it would send out a huge statement to all fans….

And would give us a fantastic centre forward…

  133. devilgunner says:

If Wooney comes its not only the fans who get a lift. Its the club also seeing that he will do his utmost to do the same at AFC that Van Pursie had at manure this year, and Cantona had at the same team. It will also be good for AFC financially since ST sales will soar and also the shirt sales.

And he will get to play further upfield not behind the striker. And maybe win us a few penalties.

Now I would like to imagine Dowd seeing him go down and the whistle goes automatically!!!! 😆

    that would make my day.

  134. devilgunner says:

it was great mate. All the family since we celebrate Mother’s day here today.

Dinner was superb. And the togetherness we have is something really precious. I hope it lasts.

  135. Adam says:

That isn’t what Mrs Adam thinks Agag. 🙂
I must confess to being in a contemplative mood though. I may do something risqué a little later to liven things up. 🙂

  136. devilgunner says:

he is holding his breath Agag, He is apprehensive a lot due to AW signing Remy. He Loics Wooney.

  137. Adam says:

I am pleased Devil. Those are nice words. Family is a wonderful thing. Mine hate me and plot against me. They say I am paranoid.

  138. devilgunner says:

That is for you Adam. Do you Loic it???

I have been blessed in that regard Rico. its something that I always wanted……….and I am lucky to have it. It pains me when people I know go through difficulties. For I know how nice it is and I wish that everyone is lucky enough to experience it.

  139. agirlagunner says:

Adam, “risque” eh? Sounds like a plan. 😛

dev, glad to hear you had a wonderful day. 🙂 🙂

  140. devilgunner says:

I am happy, really happy for ALMUNIA today. He was brilliant today doing a double penalty save for Watford against Leicester City. His save resulted in Watford clearing the ball and going up to score at the other end.

  141. Adam says:

As it is from you Devil. I Loic it.
I will send you my risqué experience Agag. 🙂

Night all. I am off to listen to some music.

  142. devilgunner says:

I agree………he may not have been right for AFC. But bloody hell…..he deserves whatever he achieves. He is a great gentleman.

  143. Richard says:

Well good piece though I disagree with one point just because no team has ever been relegated in same season of fa cup win, does mean it won’t happen. Yes Wigan will come to the emirates and play with pace and passion and yes they have been a bogey team for us over recent seasons but this year we have done well against lesser teams and have won ugly. I take us to relegate Wigan and take this to the last day. Lets be honest none of the three teams fighting for cl football is in top form and have struggled to get results recently and will be the case until the final day.

  144. The BearMan says:

Two games left, lets see if Wenger’s quality players can earn their corn. I hope the boys have not switched on to holiday mode as yet. One thing for certain, it has been the season for the underdog…

I really did not expect Stoke to do us any favours.

Is Wenger about to change a habit and shop outside of Primark?

    Not long to wait!!

  145. Lee says:

Morning all….what has it come to having to rely on that fuck-wit pubis to do us a favour!?!?

  146. devilgunner says:

    Morning Lee.

We are considered a big club but AMAZING-LEE we have to rely on others. If say it was for the first place then ok. but hell. its about finishing fourth or fifth.

This week will see the difference between the men and the boys.

  147. Lee says:

Belated birthday wishes mate! Yeah we are deep in the brown stuff if we don’t beat Wigan tomorrow night! Totally in our hands…6 points finish fourth, nothing less!

  148. devilgunner says:

    Thanks Lee.

Were do you want us to finish? 4th or 5th?

Imo I prefer it if we finish 5th. If AW is not going to buy real players who will make our team a couple of notches stronger, then we might as well finish 5th. I do not want to enter for a competition which will bring only heartache everytime due to the squad not being up to standard.

  149. Bradster says:

    Mornings,
We need to press them higher up the pitch and force their shaky defence to make mistakes. The full backs are suspect so Walcott would do well if he stays wide for once.

At least Newcastle are safe so not a relegation battle on the weekend.

  150. Lee says:

I take your points onboard about entering a competition that’ll bring heartache BUT it’s every competition we enter these days…….. 🙁

  151. Lee says:

If you kill yourself it’s called Suicide.

If you kill somebody else it’s called Homicide.

If you kill thousands it’s called Genocide.

If you have two Premiership sides that haven’t won the league for over 20yrs

    it’s called Mersey side !!

  152. devilgunner says:

I think that this will be the biggest summer in AW’s life at AFC. Who comes and goes will be crucial to his outcome as boss of AFC.

  153. devilgunner says:

if a big name player goes (Wilshere, Koscielny) then its all tits up.

if a big name player comes in then that is a statement to other players.

  154. rico says:

    Indeed…

Agree there devil, and with that contract running down he needs to get things right if he plans to stay…

  155. devilgunner says:

Imagine Wooney up front and Cazorla on the left and Theo on the right. now that would be terrrorising to opposition defenders.

But we should not be counting chickens!!!! 😉

  156. devilgunner says:

I hope so Rico.we need to build on what we have not dismantle and fill in back.

We need to keep the top ones and sell the deadwood

    hope it gets done

  157. Wavy says:

Its not where Shrek wants to go, its who can afford to pay him! For sure, we can’t!
Chelsea, PSG, RM. not many! But defo, not Arsenal.

  158. devilgunner says:

Then again…….we are Arsenal my friends.

I feel that there is an air of change at the Ems. We could be surprised this summer.

  159. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Morning to the Lady of the House anavd fellow Gooners in residence.

    Wavy – Your’e right there.

Rooney has often been in the shadow of better players like Christiano Ronaldo. He was finally the big cheese at ManUre and then they buy Judas. He’ll want to go to a team he thinks can make him the superstar he craves to be. As well as Chelsea, PSG and R. Madrid; you could add Abu Dhabi Citeh, Farcelona and Bayern M. I think he’d prefer to stay in England or possibly Germany. I don’t think hes confident or mature enough to try the continent. My guess is Chelsea or misfiring Citeh.
