Deal Done? £25M bid for Theo! Offers in for Robin, a legend, villain or simply ungrateful?

As it stands, we’ve all read Robin’s statement but still need to read between the lines to even hazard a guess as to what he’s actually said.

The possible scenarios to my way of thinking are the following….

A) He is truly taking one last stab at persuading the club to bring some talent in as desired by not only our skipper, but by fans worldwide.

B) He wants out, he wants the early superannuation package at Chelski or Citeh, regardless of whether or not he’s an important part of their respective roster.

C) The man truly wishes to win trophies.

If A tells the true story, then probably 98% of Gooners owe the man a massive debt of gratitude and an equally large dose of apologies, especially if he manages to pull it off, as it would be a move that could only be made by a man with Arsenal squarely in his every thought.

Robin would be risking the eternal wrath of Gooners everywhere and considering the esteem in which he is currently held by us all ( well, until his statement at least), then he certainly has a lot at stake.

If the answer is B, then good riddance, goodbye, ahem and good luck!!

Onto Option C.

Robin has been a part of the club for a long time now, a club which has supported him through thick and thin, personally and professionally and have never ever wavered in that support.

If he did relocate to Chelski, Citeh or even Barca or Real, would winning a trophy really mean that much??

A quote from one of my favourite movies is as follows.

If you are not enough without it, you will never be enough with it!!

Ok, it’s from Cool Runnings and was about an Olympic Gold Medal, but you get the idea.

In other words, there’s more to a career and a life than winning a trophy, and certainly more to both than money.

Every Gooner over the age of 40 could name Arsenal players they have loved who played for bugger all and won even less with the club.

Players who they’d still buy a beer for even now, players they will never forget.

Equally, we can no doubt all name players have who won plenty of trophies with our club that would not be worth biding the time of day to. Players who have plenty of money, a nice trophy cabinet a home but will never ever have the love of football fans from this or any other club.

These are the players we’d love to forget!!

Unfortunately, I struggle to see much difference in options B and C from an Arsenal fans perspective, as either way, he’s deserting us, our club and it’s fans who also want success but with him helping to bring it!!

Arsenal aren’t exactly sinking, but he would still be jumping ship for nothing more than money and/or a trophy?

In finishing,  how do you want to be remembered Robin, as A,B or C???

Of course, there is a 4th possibility and that is option D – the club WANT to sell him.

In that case, ignore the above post and sack the board AND Wenger!!!

Written by Scott from Oz

Titbits from Fleet Street’s finest:

The Daily Mirror report that offers have been submitted for our captain, but as yet none match the valuation set by the club which, according to the same paper, is £25 Million.

Sky Sports  and a few others reports that Caen have accepted our bid for M’Baye Niang, however, Mr Mancini, who is far too lazy to do anything for himself is lurking. Citeh will no doubt flex their financial muscle and make Caen and the player a better offer. Like I said yesterday, let’s now see if this kid wants money or football.

The Daily Express report that Chelsea have had a £25 Million offer for Theo Walcott turned down and have now dropped out of the race to sign him. If that story is true, I strongly suspect that means he’s staying and he’s told Arsenal that.

Have a good day all….

Hoorah, Scott has finally got his writing arm in action.

Good question asked Scott, one day I think it’s option A, the next D – the latter of course will never be proved unless he does go and speaks out…

    If it’s A, then the nest few days/weeks will see 2/3 arrivals….

Talks are today apparently, and looks like no club wants to match our valuation just yet, that is of course if the stories about us having had a few offers for him are true…

  2. badger bairer says:

There are two people mentioned in the headline.
Then you start banging on about “he” this and “his” that.

You’d need to be a detective to work out what the article is actually about.

  3. Scott from Oz says:

We are all in the dark, that’s for sure.
We all want it sorted ASAP,for the benefit of all parties.

  4. Marco says:

dude, you are fishing with no bait on your line. At present I am honestly flabergasted at Gunners across the worlds opinion of this RVP ordeal, smells very much of Adebayor tbh. ONE SEASON of greatness and suddenly he is the second coming and Wenger should be sacked if RVP leaves? What rubbish!
My opinion, if good money can be gained from selling him, let him go and get a younger tougher striker. On history alone RVP has a 12.5% chance of playing a full season this season, not great odds is it. . . ?

  5. Progman says:

I don’t understand why it should be a priority of a player to be invited for a beer 10 years later, opposed to winning 2 CL trophies.

We have experienced awful losses which caused many fans long nights, BUT imagine Robin’s nights! He has suffered on the pitch due to Denilson, Eboue, Bendtner, later Ramsey, Chamakh, etc.

If it feels amazing to win something as a fan, now imagine winning something as a player… that is what Robin would miss out on.

  6. rico says:

BB – I would have thought having full stops in the heading would have made it quite clear, however, just for you, and so that it’s easier for you to follow i have added RvP’s name…

    Better 🙄

  7. rico says:

Marco – no fishing, just asking fans view, it’s called ‘opening a debate’ – in case you didn’t realise…

  8. Mohd Isa says:

I hope RVP really moves and win trophies. I can’t see the gunners under Wenger being a third/fourth team. Forbs have listed them as the third richest club. But wait a minute.
If the gunners fail to win trophies for the next five years they won’t make it to the top ten richest club. As for Chelsea they will close the gap if they continue to win games and trophies and most crucially a brand new stadium.
Nothing is written in stone or cement the gunners are atop club. If they continue to deteriorate and unable to compete for trophies, they could be just another Leeds Utd all thanks to Wengers policies..

  9. rico says:

Totally agree Scott, we don’t need this dragging on until DD, RvP needs to get the money and spend it, IF there is to be no change of heart by our captain…

  10. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, ten comments, and I already know what other people writing articles go through.
Talk about people reading some parts, ignoring others and just plain missing the point lol.

  11. Scott from Oz says:

Ot sure if it makes any difference, but this was written the day RVP made his statement to the world, and the emotion was still pretty raw.

  12. Satan to Saint says:

    Mohmmad

Please please our valuation just doesn’t stand on the basis of our onfield performance.

  13. rico says:

Scott – it doesn’t make any difference, until it’s resolved, its always going to be on most fans mind – do you have the right email address now??

    S2S – it’s a good job eh 😉

  14. rico says:

Just read that too S2S – i suspect Citeh have made an offer… but, ultimately, its down to the player to choose where he wants to go….

  15. gunner ant says:

he will go to milan.they need a striker hes been spoitted havin dinner with gullit.he will end up at milan trust me thats why they got rid of that tall bloke

  16. Satan to Saint says:

Scott..Its fun when people slag you, it means you’re doing something right. Doesn’t it?

  17. Satan to Saint says:

    Scott..

Haha. Mate, I should let people know I own Man City and Utd’s souls..lol..After all they have made a deal with Devil..

  18. rico says:

gunner ant, if he has to go, i’d rather it was overseas, so if its milan, thats far better than seeing him at citeh or manure

  19. Scott from Oz says:

    Aaaahhhh,but we already have a Devil….you’re a second rate imitation,Satan lol!,
    You’re right about the slagging.

  20. Satan to Saint says:

    Rico

That was for readers who think only on field performance of the club. But valuations are a lot more fun then that. To be honest, trust me if AU is offering 1500 for every shares then he must have some love for club.

  21. Satan to Saint says:

sorry if its 15000pounds then. Cause per share value of Arsenal F.C. share is around 13330 pounds. Its 1670 pounds more than valuations.

  22. Satan to Saint says:

Thanks Scott..Btw I’d go for A, B and C all for RvP. He’s just angry with himself I guess.

  23. W.A.T.H says:

    Morning 2Scotts……… Nice post fella…!

Maybe you forgot option “E” Make him stay the extra season unhappy or not, then we do not have to pay him part of any fee as he has not officially put in a transfer request, is he that unprofessional that he devalues “himself” to potential suitors next year by throwing a sulk ? If he plays for a season gets us into top four and maybe helps us win something is it worth the risk of loosing out on a 20million fee for him when CL is worth more than that AND it shows players they do not always hold all the power..? I don’t normally say keep a player who doesn’t want to be there but in this instance am thinking it’s becoming a viable option IF the offers for him are also pretty low when they know he has 1 season left on his contract.

  24. theDude says:

If it was (a) why the need to go public?
It’s not the fans or the media he had to convince it is the board, and they already knew what his intentions were, and if they didn’t then I’m sure he could of told them face to face. Also by stating publicly that he feels the club has no ambition doesn’t really help in convincing new targets to join now does it.

  25. adam says:

Morning Rico and all. Great post Scott. Pertinent and to the point. Mancini has had his rusks this morning and is being winded as I write. Later he will insist on the money to sign Niang, rather than let Arsenal buy him. If this happened then he would only have to buy him in 3 years time for £40 million.

  26. rockyrocastle07 says:

Morning folks. How are we all today?

Good post Scott. You’re right.. people often miss the point with posts! They just scour the internet for reports of signings and dismiss anything else as rubbish!

If I’m totally honest, I really couldn’t care less either way about RvP anymore. That may sound shit, but (I said this last year to my mates on a regular basis even when he was banging them in) if we can get £20m+ for him, let him go. And with that in mind, I really do think option D is a serious contender. It wouldn’t at all shock me if Ivan Egghead and Wenger were either stalling or not offering all they can in a bid to give him the hump so he walks away, making him look like the bad person and not them. Maybe he knows that, and tried to pre-emt it with the “lack of direction” comment. A major contract with substantial pay increase for a well known perennial crock sure sounds like an option the board would want to pass on.

    Just a thought.

  27. rockyrocastle07 says:

And as for Niang…. Do we really need another up and coming striker? Just leave it, and spend the money on something better. more than £5m for a player who’s average was about 1 in 12 last season!! Give me Joel Campbell anyday. Or Afobe.

  28. South Yorkshire Gunner says:

    Morning all.

At least Scott had the balls to write an article.

Again: One person’s caviar is another’s fish eggs.

  29. adam says:

I love Mancini Rico. I believe him to be an honourable and decent man without a duplicitous streak in him. I think his lower, prehensile jawline is intriguing too. He is also one of Manchester’s leading onanists and as such deserves our utmost respect.

  30. rico says:

    Morning rocky, SYG

Niang is very typical of Wenger, young and French and if he gets him, he’ll know he will be able to sell him on in a few years for three times the price, if he turns out to be any good…

Is that the way forward? i don’t think so…

  31. Thorny says:

If he has any self respect at all he will stay and make an effort to win with us or move abroad. A man like RVP (and i dont profess to knowing him personaly) could surely not bring himself to pull on light blue city shirt. Its a vulgar picture and this is why the rumour of Juve being top of his list is believable. I know we all think footballers are all about the dosh….but there HAS to be a limit just as a person.

  32. Thorny says:

and there really is a fantastic case for staying. we can take the title easily if wenger keeps it up with the aquisition of players with some fight in them. Got 2 already. no more leads thrown away = wins.

  33. Scott from Oz says:

I was hoping my lack of eloquence was made up,at least in part,by some passion, and I appreciate the kind words guys.
It’s strange and almost enforces RVP’s comments that we are prepared to spend big money on a 17 y.o.
I’ve always thought we should keep an eye on the future as well as the here and now,but I’d have thought there are bigger priorities for our squad than a young striker.
Maybe the deal with M’Villa(among others)is done, but if not,I find chasing this kid a bit strange.

  34. Adam says:

Rico. Yes, I had a vision of you doing that. 🙂 It’s a noble term and one that befits Mancini and quite a few other perfectly.

  35. W.A.T.H says:

If it’s true Caen have rejected our offer for Niang, whats the betting we’ve offered a fiver and another fiver when he has 500 appearances and 200 goals scored for us..?

  36. Matty says:

Any of you checked out Kevin Mirallas who were meant to be in talks with? the guy looks wkd he makes hazard look silly

  37. Adam says:

Self respect costs £100k a week in today’s (cattle) market. For an extra £50k a week you get humility thrown in.

  38. Thorny says:

rico…thats the thing i think there must be and rvp is the watershed moment.

adam…we’ve got two…ones called clichy and the other is Samir. They’re the imported chinese variety with too many fins that no body likes any more so we just leave them at the back and rent them out when all the good ones are out. we’ll get rid of them when we can…..offload them to the plymouth argyle surfers or something.

  39. Matty says:

Just checked him out on the tube and he looks immense WATH! hope we pull it off and beat the scouse boys to him.. but known our luck we’ve done the scouting work for city and they will prob grab him from under our noses :(…

Also where is all this caen rejecting the bid from niang coming from ?

  40. rico says:

Absolutely Adam, and yes, I did get your mail…

Maybe we just seem to get a few that lack it Scott…

  41. W.A.T.H says:

It’s on a few news sources Matty, of course it doesn’t mean it’s correct for one minute but the quotes are from the Caen chairman who apparently sad the offer from Arsenal wasn’t derogatory just not as much as they were looking for…..!

  42. Matty says:

Lol i hate the newpapers during the transfer window especially for us… we always seem to be so close with transfers yet so so far 🙁

  43. Lewis says:

Morning all. Good post Scott, not sure why the early posts were having a winge, I think ur post covered most of the bases of the RVP situation so the readers can make their own decision as to how they feel about it all. Why that deserves any sort of attack on the author is beyond me. Personally I’m thinking a combination of B and C, bit disillusioned with footballers these days, so I reckon £200k/week is a massive drive for this move. Like us all I hope if he is off it is too juve, but with their recent financial postings I don’t see how they can afford him.

  44. vernat1066 says:

Sell RVP or not? Well his chances of staying fit again for another full season aren’t on previous form good, he has publicly brought the clubs business into the public eye and disrespected all the players at the club and has put his own opinion ahead of the managers and the clubs.

So sell him, tell Theo to sign or not sign but make his mind up now, and sell him if he does not sign. As for spending under 10 million for a young player that would be consistent with how the club has operated last season with the purchase of the Ox and Jenkinson and why not if we can get him for 7 million or so looks worth a shot.

But lets get on with sorting out who will be here and getting that team used to each other, so in comes a goalkeeper a attacking midfielder and maybe another Defensive midfielder though i would like to see Coquelin play there.

Good piece Scott though plenty of points raised to debate.

  45. Scott from Oz says:

    Thanks Lewis and Vernat.
I’d hoped it gave a few alternatives, but some picked one out, disagreed and went for the throat.
That’s fine,I’ve done the same on occasions so can’t condemn them for it!!

  46. Micko says:

    Morning all,
Scott, knew you wouldn’t be able to write a post without mentioning Wenger.
Good read, much better than your last one.
Wath, I don’t think option E is an option.

  47. Giddy says:

why don’t Mr. wenger just sign mature players who can win something than constantly investing on young boys yet we already have lots of them in our academy? i don’t always understand this!

  48. NashuaGunners says:

Good Morning all and to you Rico.

Scott from Oz, man you hit all the right buttons. You’re on target partner. I’m on to read the responds.

  49. Joshua Panda (@JoshPandz) says:

Watch this Holtby video he is the perffect replacement for walcott not as fast but great dribbling and overall technically ability plays a bit like iniesta. We have been missing fowards that play through balls walcott and gervinho never don it there just pacce.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VA1NhWPbjug&list=FL-wu0gxn6QrbTee39M-4dZQ&index=1&feature=plpp_video

Holtby plays like iniesta precise dribbling and eye for a lovely through ball behind defenders whereas walcott runs in straight lines, falls over his feet because he is too fast for himself and occassionally pops up with a neat finish. I would pick Lewis Holtby over walcott everyday of the week. Speed isn’t what we had when we were invincible it was technique Walcott has no technique comparred to Pires and Lluinberg.

  50. W.A.T.H says:

Micko winding you up Scott… wakey wakey lol 😀

Of course it’s better than the last one you ain’t done one b4…!

  51. NashuaGunners says:

I’ll go with option A. If I’m right the manger and the other players will support RVP because he is their captain and he has the Balls of Steel to speak out. At least he has the decency to call the manager before he put out his statement on his website. How many times have we seen this same scenario happened in the past when our top players are sold and then replaced with mediocre or when the money is not reinvested. Until I know otherwise, I’ll take option A.

  52. W.A.T.H says:

Didn’t answer you Rico cos how does anyone know…? Arsenal ain’t said so SS’s is merely guessing as usual…!

    I reckon it’s Brentford, Orient and Grimsby…!

  53. Micko says:

Agreed Nashua, it needs to get sorted asap now, kick-off is only 4 weeks away.
Rico, careful, that’s the first sign of madness.
Man U were favorites to sign Nasri last season and lost out, who’s to say they won’t go the whole hog to get RvP this time around, mind ya, no running water, no electricity that has to go in our favour.

  54. Scott from Oz says:

Micko, don’t you mean “kick off is still a whole 4 weeks away”?
Fergie needs something new,a massive weapon,to regain the top spot.
    RVP would fill that void.

  55. Scott from Oz says:

Every time I see them, they’re wearing the same bloody outfits.
So cute to see mums still dressing kids in like outfits!!

  56. Goon boy says:

At this point he’s reasons for wanting to go are irrelevant and I personally don’t care what he does now but my main problem is the unstability in the team. Every year our best players leave. what kind of message is it sending to our young stars? Soon there will be no point in raising young talent because none of them will feel a sense of loyalty because they learn from the older players around them.

  57. Micko says:

Scott, a lot can happen in 4 weeks but with Arsenal it always seems to take an age as last summer showed, need to get their arses in gear.

  58. rico says:

I’d take option A too NG, talks are meant to be taking place today, but bet we don’t hear anything official from the club – maybe we’ll have to wait again for Rvp to tell us something…

    Cheeky Micko

  59. Andrew says:

why do man city even need van persie! they have tevez, dzeko, aguero, balotelli and guidetti! its taking the piss! Not to mention their rumored to be in for niang aswell!!

van persie to utd would be sickening! Imagine van the man in the utd jersey! give me a bucket i need to get sick ………..
juventus are our best option me thinks..
Niang must’ve impressed on trial for wenger to bid!
Still think we need specialist attacking or defensive midfielder!

  60. Andrew says:

if we got 15 million i’d accept! At the end of the day we,re strengthening a direct rival is the extra 5 really worth that?
dzeko’s agents adding fuel to the fire by staing a milan move for him could be possible…
a lot of man city fans i know dont want van persie

  61. KM says:

RvP to Juve sounds good, because Juve have money nowadays and plus RvP can’t hurt us in the EPL after he leaves 😉

A question for JM (South American Gooner)……any insight on Paulinho? We never seem to get the top talent of S.America…..would be interesting because the guy’s really handy in and around the box.

  62. W.A.T.H says:

Andrew, if we sell vP for 15mil he gets 10% of that for not asking for a transfer even though his actions have instigated one, then you get agents comm and we’d come out with 12/13million if we lucky, why not make him play the reason out if noone offers us 20million plus..? we don’t increase his salary we don’t pay him a bonus and we get CL spot maybe more next year..? The he goes where ever and at 30 would either of the mancs take him..? I would say not…!

  63. Andrew says:

its being rummored that juve are offering a sizeable wage in the region of 150 k a week! One would imagine that they can also afford a sizeable transfer fee also!

  64. Scott from Oz says:

Goon Boy,you say we keep selling our star players and it’s a fair point.
Why is it though we never seem to run out of star players to sell???
We keep finding or producing them, thats why.

  65. KM says:

    Re. Holtby

He has good vision, good defensive workrate and above average agility and he can wriggle himself out of a bad situation. He could be a great addition to Arsenal……he is what we expected Ramsey to be.

  66. Andrew says:

its a very risky game having a player like robin around when the other players and coaches know he does not want to be here! Would he maintain the same level of commitment!? Doubtfull if you take into account his actions against the club! I love RVP don get me wrong but we’ve lost bigger and better players before! HIS AGENT AND HIM REALLLY SCREWED US OVER NOT HANGING IN A TRANSFER REQUEST! more greed

  67. rico says:

I’d take option A too NG, talks are meant to be taking place today, but bet we don’t hear anything official from the club – maybe we’ll have to wait again for Rvp to tell us something…

    Cheeky Micko….

  68. rico says:

Good to see you back today Anderw, sorry about yesterday and the moderation…

Juve are hard up aren’t they? Surely they won’t match want either Mancs would offer him for wages. But can’t see any club paying £25 Million for him, not with his injury record and his age….

  69. Scott from Oz says:

Hypothetically,if RVP signing meant a club made CL football,he may just be worth 25 million.
The trouble is the clubs with that money to spend are probably already involved in CL football.

  70. Andrew says:

italians are smelly bastards when it come to negotiating! My Brother worked in milan making deals worth a couple of 100,000 on source materials and stuff…

  71. W.A.T.H says:

Prob is Andrew Juve will pay a decent salary but if they only offered 8million as speculated we may as well keep him. As i said earlier is vP so unprofessional as to sulk if we insist he sees out his contract, if he sulks other clubs may be put off buying him so that would defeat the object, model for seeing out his last year at Arsenal would send out “come buy me signals”…? just thought…!

  72. rico says:

But who really needs him Scott?

I’m still not sure a club will pay the price AW will want, he could be stuck with us anyway…

  73. NashuaGunners says:

@Scott, “We keep finding or producing them, that why.”

Then we must agree that we are a feeder for other clubs and that we lack ambition. If that the case, RVP is in place with his statement.

  74. Scott from Oz says:

Wath, could there be a question mark over his intensity towards the end of the season though, knowing he needs to stay healthy to warrant a club taking the risk him.

  75. W.A.T.H says:

Maybe Scott but no more so that getting a bad injury at any time during a season, if he leaves on a free he’ll end up securing at least 5million signing on fee i’d reckon so who ever he would join he’d get that plus a healthy salary…! If he needs to be in the shop window he can’t be seen to be going through the motions surely..?

  76. Scott from Oz says:

Nashua,I agree we need to keep them.
That comment was making one thing clear…..we do keep finding these world class players,so if we can tweak things in such a way as to keep them,we can be a maor force sooner rather than later.
Rico,I think UTD would benefit most of any club if they signed him.
I’m not saying their interested or willing to make an offer, but he’d make a massive difference to them.
He’d be another in a long list of top class strikers at Citeh.
They’d buy him just so nobody else has him!!

  77. Scott from Oz says:

    You’re more than likely right Wath,and he’s a proud player,so I couldn’t see Him tanking,to be honest.

  78. W.A.T.H says:

If he goes anywhere in England I also think he’d end up at united for some reason. They def need him more than shitty, how many forwards do they need FFS…?

  79. Scott from Oz says:

How long is there bench Wath??
I think Mancini Is on a mission to see how many strikers he can fit on the bench at one time!

  80. Andrew says:

agreed w.a.t.h 8 million is far too little!! Also with the ur statement about other clubs being put off by such an unprofessional manner if he does sulk!
but if we are going to move him on we have to in the next two weeks! Can we afford to play him pre season up front when giroud and podolski could be playing there! They need those matches to gain understanding with their team mates and how we play!
Example milan would of have to paid 6 million pounds if they played aquilani 25 league games! about 30 games in he was on 24 league appearances and he never got a game! they were up there with juve competing 4 the league and a player who obviously helped them get there had to stop playing! its and italian thing with milan and juve

  81. rico says:

More space since Adebayors fat bum has gone Scott, mind you, Nasri’s probably just about fits that space…

  82. W.A.T.H says:

    Cheers Scott….!

Agreed Andrew, the prob is Pod & Gir but play all three, show vP he not being frozen out and all three then gives us lots of attacking options and would also help them both settle in with less pressure as vP still there to help out.

  83. Davidhr says:

I’ve said this on other places and I’ll now say it here LadyA –
If Robin wants to leave, after we supported him for 4/5 iffy injury hit years and 18months of greatness (well doing what he was paid for …) Then … Go Robin Go, and don’t let the door hit your fat wallet protected injury prone ass on your way out and please don’t dress it up as our lack of ambition. You were happy to take the money in the years you were mostly laid up in the treatment room. We have supposedly offered you £150k per week and £5mill fee, not exactly peanuts!
If he’s playing some horribly clever game with the board to force them to sign better players … (has he seen Podolski and Giroud) then good luck to him, but they won’t bend to a players demands like that, so he’ll go anyway …..
I’m truly sick and tired of players who we took in as fresh faced youngsters & then improved them beyond their dreams, turning round and telling us we have no ambition.
If Cashley, Na$ri, C£ichy, Ade£ayor, etc (and now possibly RvP) had stayed what a team we woould have had and what Silverware would we have won!?!?
Who knows … no-one ever will, but I think we all know that had they stayed we’d have been in with a far better chance. But no, they took our money and then ran away to even more money when they got the chance to line their already overlarge bank accounts. And tell me, which of them has been a better player after us? (maybe Cashly).
Don’t blame the Board or AW (yes he and they make mistakes) but in my opinion (supporter for 35 of my 44 years) we are a rock in a sea of hell. Eventually FIFA/UEFA will have to make the FFP rules stick and then the Arab/USA sugar daddies will get bored and go …. We should be OK then (if we carry on as we are), if we go down the AU/R&W road we will end up as the rest when the sugar daddies go .. a busted flush.

  84. Charlie George aka AK says:

    Afternoon AKB’s
    Afternoon Rico.
Scott, that was a firsy class post.
As for the knockers, they’re mostly cowards, who would never have the guts to do a post.
    Ignore them…

As for Niang, and with the possibility of ending up with egg on my face, I don’t give a toss.

  85. rico says:

Welcome Davidhr, sorry for the delay in letting you out of moderation..

To some extent I agree with that ‘if he wants to go’ part, but surely the club should be looking at why these players want to go each summer?

We seem to sign them, make them better and then they up and go but, I keep asking myself how many have gone on to do a lot better and win things.

Henry at Barca – yes, but he didn’t play that much

Clichy and Nasri – ok, then won the PL last season but the latter didn’t contribute to that much and with their money, winning the PL alone must be seen as a bit of a flop..

Cesc – well he’s really the only one to date who has left and gone on to win things….

  86. Adam says:

I am reading lots of the more downmarket websites stating that Arsenal have to remain strong over van Persie and by this they mean keeping him to the last year of his contract. I am of the opinion that the “strong” thing to do is to sell him to the highest bidder and reinvest the money plus a lump more in a top player. Strong is as strong does and in letting van Persie go Arsenal show that they are a progressive club who are moving forward. Keeping a player who has clearly had his head turned and will not be committed while doing about £25 million up the wall is not strong. It is stupid. No club has had as much experience as ours where this stuff is concerned. The attitude should be “If you don’t want to be here, then we don’t want you here, so see you later”. The only proviso I would make is that it is done within the next seven days. But make all your plans for next season without him. Don’t take him on any Pre-season trips where he can sulk and pollutr the dressing room. Let him stay behind and twiddle his thumbs and eat cheesecake.

  87. rico says:

    Afternoon Adam

My own opinion changes every hour, one minute I think the club should stand their ground, the next, sell him for as much as we can, regardless of where that is…

Will he have another season like last, I’m not so sure….

  88. rico says:

That’s why I didn’t really have a problem with Cesc going Adam, I saw that as just wanting to go home, it was only ever Barca, or us…

    Money?

  89. Adam says:

But Davidhr Usmanov does not offer the sugar daddy route that The Sheikh and Abramovich have done. He offers the ability to buy top players for the positions that Wenger says need filling. He offers an end to the Stepanovs and Silvestres and the superb Squillacci. If he was in control now instead of Stan and Gazidis we would possibly have bought Hazard and Hummels and kept RvP. Surely that’s good and we would still comply with FFP. Oh and we wouldn’t have Mancini knocking at our back door every year.

  90. rico says:

I really want AU & R&W in Adam and before this TW shuts but I know that is just never going to happen….

  91. goonster says:

let me just say this………..if robin leaves to join manure am gonna lose it. manure? seriously? he keeps yapping about wanting to play alongside world clas players yet he prepares manure! God give me strenght. how many players can be termed as world class in fergusnose’s team? robin you re an ingrate….a money grabbing one at that and i hope you sustain an injury ruining career just like micheal owen….hleb begged to rejoin us right? you ll cry blood but none ll flinch. two faced back stabbing, horse placenta weavil bastard! that’s what we get for keeping you outta jail and paying you weekly while you were lying on your butt in the sick bay….next stop diaby.

  92. Adam says:

Rico. I am an optimist by inclination but a pessimist by experience where Arsenal are concerned so I have to agree with you. Stan’s PR is almost as bad as Wenger’s.

  93. Charlie George aka AK says:

Hi Rico, it’s pouring down. Just ticking over.
Hi Adam, how was the coffee?
Wath, I knew you’d like Andrew, especially as he agrees with you… 😉
You know, I really don’t think M’Vila is a done deal.
I reckon that AFC have moved onto other targets.

  94. rico says:

Hi goonster – he hasn’t joined Fergie…. yet 😉 don’t waste your emotions until he does 😉

  95. rico says:

That description reminds me of someone I know Adam…. 😉

Pouring down here too Kev, but the summer is just around the corner according to the weathermen….

You wait, we will sign N’Zonzi, who has today submitted a transfer request….

  96. goonster says:

adam am confused…..we the new dutch generation all have crap atitudes. the old guard wont behave in this manner. morning rico….am so angry right now.

  97. Charlie George aka AK says:

    Adam, 😀
No mate, i’ll have the hump about that all day now…
    But she was nice… 😉

  98. Charlie George aka AK says:

N’Zonzi, huh, leaves me totally unmoved Rico.
I’d rather not bother & stick with Coq &Frim…

  99. goonster says:

hopefully i should be heading home during the winter for a two weeks break…..i miss the continent so much. adam you thieving crackhead you promised me a few bottles, where are they? am still waiting.

  100. rico says:

But that’s what it has come to Kev, blame the last 5/6 years for making me think that…

Then, we’ll go and make a higher bid for Niang, when surely the more sense would be to put the £5M we’d pay for Nzonzi together with what we offered for Niang, and we’d have been able to buy Capoue…

A player we really could do with….

  101. vernat1066 says:

Ah the AU myth appears where everything will be sweetness and light and nothing will go wrong… everyone stays and we magically can pay more for players and wages, would that be due to the increased TV revenue and commercial deals coming due as under FFP rules you cant just go here you go a cheque for 100 million spend it all on players

  102. goonster says:

hahahahahah that’s so true W.A.T.H a friend of mine took a cab through the center of town last year…….london town that is. told me the cabbie is the most foul mannered cretin he had ever met. said he was a rip off. now who does that remind you of?

  103. vernat1066 says:

I don’t know that Nzonzi is any good however there is no guarantee that Capoue will be any good over here either, as it will be a new league country and language etc… whiles Nzonzi at least knows the league and the language, as for the young striker if we can get him after the trial where he impressed great if not c’est la vie. IF we get Nzonzi perhaps Arteta can play in a more advanced role like he did at Everton

  104. rico says:

But an AU takeover might encourage the manager to spend what we do make vernat, and with it I am sure we would lose players…

  105. Adam says:

If you think the player could add value to the squad, then buy him. What difference does a million quid make really, in the broad scheme of things and taking the potential rewards into consideration? The club spoiled the ship for a ha’porth of tar last season and look what difference that extra quality striker could have made in the CL at home to AC Milan. Calling Mr Usmanov!!! Get your hand in your bin mate.

  106. W.A.T.H says:

Vernat, you think FFP is stopping the chavs spending spree…???

AU sponsors the clubs training kit for 100million problem solved..!

  107. vernat1066 says:

We already spend what we make Rico, time to judge Silent Stan after this season and if things have not improved then I’ll be for a change but for now I’ll back the manager, board and owners that we have (better the devil you know than the devil you don’t). Any one heard any rumours about a goalkeeper ?

  108. rico says:

Or a defender in the San Siro Adam…. 😉

Or a striker at the Ems instead of Nikki getting that chance….

    Ahhh, if only….

  109. Adam says:

Vernat. I don’t think anyone is suggesting that all will be perfect if AU took over. But, let’s face it. It ain’t working now is it? We are losing our best players every year and can’t afford to replace them with top players and this is not linked to FFP. It is because the financial model relies on Wenger selling them. It’s a self-fulfilling prophecy.

  110. rico says:

Oh well, at least Reading have signed seven players, they look to be trying to show a bit of intent to stay in the PL….

  111. vernat1066 says:

Denilson did not know the league he came from Brazil and until he had the stress fracture in his back i think he was looking aright, and I believe ffp will work because now the major clubs, Real, Barca, Bayern and Utd can not compete with the new money clubs and therefore they want it to work. Who are Uefa going to listen to those clubs who bring the fans and value in terms of audiences or the new oil clubs?

  112. vernat1066 says:

Best players Adam what have these best players won for us? Are the fact they are leaving an issue or part of the start of the solution where we get players who want to play for us and are committed to the club.

  113. Adam says:

Better the devil you know? But we don’t know Stan Kroenke because he hasn’t told us anything. All we know is that he borrowed the money to buy the club and all the people who kept on about how the self sustaining model meant that nobody took any money out, banked tens of millions of £ s off the back of it while decreasing the transfer budget and increasing the season ticket prices.

  114. Adam says:

As we are finding out Vernat, players are committed to one thing and one thing only. Yes, they all want to play for us until they become good enough to be useful and then they want the big money that we can’t or won’t pay.

  115. agirlagunner says:

Boo!! Good debut post, Scott. I really could care less about Robin. Even if we work out a deal, I could never like him the same. He’s as nasty as Na$ri and Clichy, as far as I’m concerned.

rico, howdy? Cesc has only won sippy cups with Barca. 😀 Still no liga or CL title. 😀 It’s as if he never left AFC. Haha.

Hello, everyone! Is nobody gonna ask Stan to calm down?? 😀

  116. Adam says:

Will FFP have force majeur over the law with its strict requirement regarding restriction of trade?

  117. vernat1066 says:

Decreasing transfer budget ? last season over fifty million which was the first season that Silent Stan was in charge, also a change it the age profile of the players, and the board sold to Stan for less than they could have sold to AU. And talk is cheap that is why I say lets see where we are at the end of the season and what the club needs to do, but until then I am going to support the current board and manager (though if PHW was to pop of this mortal coil no tears there)

  118. goonster says:

hey AGAG, am so pissed with that one legged freak….he’s a rotterdamer….what do you expect? they are all rotten to the core…..that’s by the way so how are ya lil mama? how’s manila? *sighs* anytime somebody mentions manila i get a premonition of me and you under an umbrella sipping cocnut drinks. ahhhhhhhhh now that’s the life.

  119. rico says:

How many seasons did Denilson get in the PL, before he finally got moved on, he knew the PL ok, he just couldn’t adapt to it (imho)

  120. Adam says:

Yes, a decreasing transfer budget. We do not spend what Wenger brings in and never have. Look at our net spend over the past 5 years. Check the figures yourself. The age profile means nothing. Our best player last year was 28 years and and Arteta, arguably the second best is no spring chicken. One of our problems has been that we haven’t had enough experienced players. As for Stan’s first season in charge? We didn’t challenge for the title or the PL and never looked like it because of insufficient investment in the squad. Usmanov potentially promises to change that. Stan won’t because Gazidis tells us he is a big fan of the self-sustaining model, a business plan that looks increasingly like the self-defeating model.

  121. W.A.T.H says:

Vernat, you can hardly point at 50million spent last season when we brought in 74million so yet again Stan pockets the profits or rather Stans run “Club” doesnt spend what we brought in..!

  122. rico says:

Last January really irked me, no full backs, central defenders injured, we needed cover – Robin needed help up front too but what did we do?

Ignore the full back problem, despite AW saying he would loan a player to cover and we got TH14 back for a few weeks…

    🙄

  123. vernat1066 says:

I think you have misunderstood my point Rico, what i meant was that to expect Capoue to move in and in his first season to be as good as he was in france is asking a lot and assuming a lot. Whilst Nzonzi does not have that barrier to overcome

  124. rico says:

But that is always a risk vernat, it’s a risk with Podolski and Giroud too but so many cite them as fantastic signings…

If Capoue or M’Vila for that matter, are as good as so many suggest, then it is worth taking that chance.

It worked with Vieira and Petit…..

Has N’Zonzi shone, I’m not sure he has, not even in a side that earned relegation.

  125. vernat1066 says:

We spent what we got in, Barca did not pay all of Cesc’s money upfront and you can still hardly say spending over 50 million is not investing. As for buying players in the January transfer window people complain we have to many players who cant get in the squad and cant be shifted and then want us to buy more, and how is selling their best players mid season? A touch of reality for Arsenal fans would not hurt and this idiotic idea that the club is somehow in the wrong to make a profit is frankly ludicrous, AU is on record as wanting dividends paid that means the club has to make a profit

  126. W.A.T.H says:

No players fee is paid up front thats the way all business is done but it’s not an excuse to cover up the fact that yet again w did not spend what we brought in and then we look at the previous years when huge profits were made and all thats happened is debt was lowered so the board could sell their shares for more money..! Who’s fault is it we cant sell the deadwood..? the club for paying average players over the odds…!

  127. rico says:

When AW publicly made it clear in january that he would sign cover for our injured fullbacks, only to not do so, was wrong….

Also, as much as it was great to see TH back at the club, we needed a striker for a lot longer than he was with us..

It’s little things like that which make the difference between 3rd and 1st…..

As for the players who can’t get into the squad, well imho, that is because we keep too many players who don’t deserve to be in the squad, yet they are….

  128. agirlagunner says:

Funny goonster, I had a foreshadowing of a coconut falling on someone’s head. 😉 😀 Manila isn’t for sitting under trees, goonster. You head south where the beaches are. Like you, I don’t like Robin at all, now. I don’t want him anywhere near our club.

rico, good(ish). I hope the rain has let up? Or does it ever let up in England?

Hey, WATH and vernat. 🙂 There’s little to suggest that Kroenke is invested in our club, other than with respect to $$$$.

  129. vernat1066 says:

Sorry but “all thats happened is debt was lowered” is a ludicrous statement (boo to the club for paying off 250 million) and the bogus moral outrage that people with share sold them also grates to be honest. Like I said I will judge the club after the season is over but I am too old and too cynical to believe that a white knight will ride in and all will be right the club will change and everyone will stay etc… ain’t buying into it, don’t believe it and don’t want it football and the money it spends is already frankly obscene and to perpetuate that and in fact add to it is not something I want to see the club do.

  130. rico says:

Going on from that, last summer we did sign players, but 4 weeks to late…

And – if i am right, that is the first time in 5/6 summers that we actually spent some money…

  131. W.A.T.H says:

Sorry you don’t agree with that Vernat but it’s fact mate..! hardly a ludicrous statement is it when its 100% true and made shareholders a shit load of money while they bullshitted us the fans about what would and would not be available for transfers etc etc…! If there was a reason to pay off the debt in full then brilliant but they stuffed that up as well as we would incur penalties..! You sound like their PR machine…!

  132. agirlagunner says:

It seems always to be raining or snowing where you are, rico. Go for hols in warmer climes. 🙂

  133. vernat1066 says:

Sorry you feel that way W.A.T.H but the debt paid off is not a bad thing and if they choose to sell their shares then again that is their choice. The debt that was paid off was all that could be ad the rest is secured at a set rate with penalties for early repayment. Also since last season was the first time we did not pay off more of the debt we spent more on players … one thing following another. As for the clubs utterances on transfers etc… we should expect the truth from them so that everyone knows our position?

IF i sound like their PR machine well fair enough I feel a damn sight more comfortable with the view they have about sustainable growth than some one spending vast sums and pushing the club further into debt or increasing the trail of footballers earning ridiculous amounts of money. As for paying it off in full to do that from where we are now would cost us about 100 million in penalties and that again seems like a stupid waste of money.

As for a rights issue why should a man who has bought his shares and owns the club now spend more so that some one who the board would not sell to can buy more shares at a lower price and then waste 100 million pounds.

There is no moral high ground in this from either side both want the club to make money neither are going to cut ticket prices or help the average fan and ask your self this last question who knows more about AU the board of directors with all or their resources and contacts or us?

  134. In-Wenger-I-Used-To-Trust says:

I honestly believe RVP (chocolate leg-which will melt again next season making him useless to anyone) should go. I think Wenger should go with him. He is now like ferguson outdated in todays football tactics, and dealing with players as shown this season by the old guard of premier league managers. Ill be sad to see wenger and RVP go for all the memories theyve given us but enough’s enough and we deserve better and I’m sick of tired of wenger letting himself be bullied like a school principal in a rough area. He’s turning into a right twat.

  135. Andrew says:

At the end of the day capoue is a better player than nzonzi will ever be! Harsh on the lad but true.. if there ever was a premier league club he could come straight away and be effective it would be arsenal…French players and a certain french manager ! tbh id be pretty dissapointed if we went for nzonzi… i just dont think his anyway better then what we have! Isnt he a central midfielder too? we have ramsey wilshere diaby arteta lansbury rosicky taking up the other 2 cmf options.. holtby for schalke? Anyone know much about him??

  136. Bob John says:

As much as I love AW for what he has done for the club, his biggest problem seems to be that he is an eternal optimist believing that our constant injury list will miraculously clear up. History shows that it has been like this for years.Even in 2002 when we won the double we awful injury problems. Remember Lauren and Luzhny both playing left back and the team that won the league at OT did so without Henry, Pires, Bergkamp and Adams. Difference was we had strength in depth and reliable replacements like Keown, Wiltord, Edu and Kanu. Unfortunately, we are nowhere near havnig 2 top class players for each position these days and it doesn’t look like changing anytime soon.

  137. W.A.T.H says:

The thing is Vernat the fact the debt was lowered only benefited the board, they came up with all that twaddle about custodians and then went and sold their shares soon as they were worth a bundle. They knew from day one the debt could not be paid in full as they cocked up the conditions on that hence the penalties and your correct it cannot be paid off but as said thats their fault, why pay off the debt early when some of those funds could of been used to buy better players to of made us more successful on the pitch?. They only paid it off to raise their share prices and yet again they told us a pack of lies and hid behind the truth. Selling “their” shares I have no problem with but don’t pull the wool over our eyes with the bullshit they spun us when we left Highbury.

No one is asking for a sugar daddy and you’ve been on here long enough to know the majority on here do not ask nor want that but AU could invest money in proper ways without turning us into the chavs or citeh… It isn’t difficult with thought and unfortunately football has changed for the worse and what we want our club to be has long passed in my opinion.

  138. Andrew says:

diaby when fit gets in the national team..i know he isnt fit so often but when he is they always include him! his a class (glass) act :l

  139. vernat1066 says:

Just because some one is good in one league does not mean that they will be as good in another league (veron, morientes, schevchenko, kezman, forlan), and since as Rico points out we already have two players who have not played in the league another one would be a risk but if we are going to buy from outside the league Biglia from Anderlecht would not be a bad buy but ideally i would like us to buy Felliani from everton and a goalkeeper

  140. In-Wenger-I-Used-To-Trust says:

I honestly believe RVP (chocolate leg-which will melt again next season making him useless to anyone) should go. I think Wenger should go with him. Ill be sad to see wenger and RVP go for all the memories theyve given us but enough’s enough and we deserve better and I’m sick of tired of wenger letting himself be bullied like a school principal in a rough area. He’s turning into a right twat.

  141. rico says:

In-Wenger-I-Used-To-Trust – I’d still like to see what Wenger would do if R&W took over and DD came back…

  142. rico says:

More glass than class Andrew 😉

But equally they could be just what we need vernat, I’d certainly take a risk on Capoue/M’vila rather than sign a cheaper version in N’Zonzi who has not really done that great at BB

At least they would arrive with a good reputation, on the field I mean….

  143. goonster says:

back with a full tum….that bojangles chicken really hit the spot…..afternoon good people.

  144. Adam says:

We are one of the richest clubs in the world yet we are uncompetitive. How do we, in today’s financial football climate, become more competitive? I would suggest that we have an excellent manager who may or may not be as good as he was. We have the infrastructure and we have the fan base. What we don’t have is a squad with enough quality depth to win the big prizes. This may or may not change before the season starts. Experience of previous seasons tells me it won’t, but I live in hope. It is nothing that say £50 million plus the sale of our deadwood wouldn’t help with. We still might not win anything but we would have a better chance, especially if, for once, we were lucky with injuries.

  145. goonster says:

jeez give it a rest already….you guys are over flogging this shit. dont you ever get dizzy. sheesh……

  146. vernat1066 says:

I agree to disagree and wish everyone a good evening and roll on the season so we can talk about football rather than transfers and finances.

  147. goonster says:

andrew, giroud is the real deal……he’s gonna be immense. wait for it, soon we ll be saying “robin who”

  148. goonster says:

she knocks me off my horsey……every damn time. God, tell her to upload her picture adam. she’s a hot spicy filipino hot sauce!

  149. In-Wenger-I-Used-To-Trust says:

your like a fucking nazi man! i cant get a word in! why cant i comment??? hahaha oh lord

  150. goonster says:

well am not…..never had, never will. screw it….i ll tell her myself. hey AGAG, for my sanity please be a dear and upload your picture…..now how hard was that adam.

  151. agirlagunner says:

goonster, I’m old enough to be your aunt. 😀 Chill!!!

I agree though. Robin van Who?? And hello, Adam. 🙂

rico where are you off, to??

  152. goonster says:

ahhhhhhhh there she is!!!!!! old enough to be my aunt? more like my naughty school teacher back in arnhem. now that’s a woman. taught me everything i know.

  153. agirlagunner says:

Goonie, what pill have you been popping?? 😀 😀

Adam, I think goonerette just wants to borrow my shoes… 😀

rico, how nice. I am envious. 🙂

I wonder whether we’ll still sign anyone… Stuff written about AFC makes for depressing reading… 🙁

  154. Charlie George aka AK says:

    Evening All.
As the lady said, Calm Down Stan….
I see your off on one again Stanley….

Wath, easy peasey, soon made up my losses… 😉

  155. goonster says:

stop reading them paps AGAG…..they ll only make you blue…anyway suits me cause then you ve got to cuddle and me arms are always open to you.

  156. rico says:

Not yet Adam, waiting for the summer to arrive before any decision is made, only for a few days though….

  157. Charlie George aka AK says:

Adam, i’d luv to stay & chat, but i’ve gotta bit of catching up to do.
    See you guys lata.
    Remember Stan….. Chill.

  158. agirlagunner says:

Without batting an eyelash, Adam. 🙂 🙂 Ahaha.

AK! Be safe. Your grandson needs a drink. : ) He’s probably had six already. 😉

    Hello, Nashua.. 🙂

  159. agirlagunner says:

The bed beckons! Yawn! Good night, all!!

You mellow now, WATH? Ask Goonie for some of his chill pills. 😀 😀

  160. W.A.T.H says:

Evening JM, how’s you…? Very little news mate…! Any more gossip on Paulinho..?

I got one of those buttons too Rico 😉

  161. Goon boy says:

We do keep producing talent but whats the point if we sell them on before they reach their potential. All these other teams are reaping the benefits of arsenals hard work. Also it destabilizes the team every year as we are basically starting from scratch instead of building on what we have.

  162. W.A.T.H says:

Good points there Goon boy…! Just when we think we’re close we lose a player or two and we back to square one..!

  163. rico says:

    I know Wath…. 😉

Boris Becker claims van Persie has re-signed with Arsenal
Posted on 18 July 2012. Tags: Arsenal, Robin van Persie

Tennis legend Boris Becker this evening tweeted on his confirmed account:

Just heard Van Persie signed 2year deal with ….Arsenal!?

At present there seems to be no further information other than this tweet and no reason to think that Becker would tweet this without having heard something substantial. His Twitter account is verified by Twitter so we can be sure that it is the real Boris Becker tweeting and not a windup merchant.

Arsenal have stated that they would be sitting down with van Persie within the next few days to try and sort his future out with sources close to the club hopeful that they could get him to reverse his decision not to re-sign.

Becker does not give any details regarding where he got the information so he might have been hoaxed. It is unclear at this stage.

More on this story as we get it.

Hey Rico, even Boris has got the rumour-monger bug.
Does anyone really believe that one?
    Not sure myself…

  166. Scott from Oz says:

Rico, your title did a decent job…..over 4 hits so far!!
    Boris Becker???
    Is he a Gooner,or maybe he knows Podolski,or BGF,or Wenger,or Stan the man,or…….

  167. Scott from Oz says:

Give yourself a pat on the back Rico….you’re headline brought the punters in,over 4000 hits and counting!!

  168. Scott from Oz says:

    Can anyone help?
Every time I jump on,I have to type in my email address and name?
The IPad is playing games with me.

  169. rico says:

    😆 Charlie, i don’t believe that one….

Ah, good point Scott, the German contact, 4 hits – more like 20,000, it’s your post Scott, good on you, now get on and write another 😉

  170. Charlie George aka AK says:

Rico, I was listening to Talkshite earlier today, they were doing their usual crap, slagging Arsenal. But this Daily Telegraph journo came, name of Scott, can’t remember his first name, but he spoke really well about Arsenal.
You would have loved it as this guy was going on about how important Walcott is to the way Arsenal play.
He also said that Arsenal had the 3rd best record for conceding goals from dead-balls ( that suprised me) and said that the majority of goals Arsenal conceded, came from breakaways?!!!

Exeter City Under 18s coach to make Gunners switch

Under 18s coach Kwame Ampadu will make a return to Arsenal after 22 years next month when he joins the Gunners as an academy coach.

The 41-year-old, who made two appearances during his three years at Arsenal from 1988 to 1991, has been managing City’s Under 18s side for the last four years.

He will initially coach the Gunners’ Under 14s and the former midfielder, who played over 150 times for the Grecians, told the Official Website how he can’t wait to get started.

“I am delighted to receive a fantastic opportunity like this at such a huge club and I was really really happy to get the offer,” he said.

“I’ll be predominantly working full time with the Under 14s to begin with at a club where I spent three unbelievable years from 1988 after coming over from Ireland aged 17.

“Everyone knows the sort of club Arsenal is and what it stands for and luckily enough the way we try to play football in our youth set-up here at Exeter, trying to get the kids to pass the ball, is what they do there as well.

  172. Charlie George aka AK says:

He also said, that he felt that Arsenal were very close to actually challenging for and winning the EPL.
He said, when you consider the awfull start last season, and where we finished, that Wenger was close to a title winning team again.
As long as he can keep them all together…!!!

  173. Scott from Oz says:

Rico,I don’t even know what that is.
I had net problems a week or so back,so reset the IPad,and since then, each time I get on here or onto my greyhound forum, same applies…I have to log back in.

  174. Scott from Oz says:

Believe it or not its working perfectly right now Rico???
    Bloody computers.
AK,plenty blame Wenger for our poor start, and that’s fair to a point, but what happened after the first 4 or 5 weeks was just outstanding.
when we were good after that,we were very, very good, and yes, good enough to compete with the best in the League.
Off the top of my head, are Utd the only side we didn’t beat at some point last season??

  175. rico says:

Seriously Kev, I keep on saying that AW naffed up with the summer signings, not with who he bought but when he bought them, had he signed those same players 4 weeks earlier, OT would never have happened, nor would a few of those early rotten results.

That’s when we lost any chance, with those results came doubt and yes, to finish 3rd was remarkable but all that says is ‘what might have been’?

That guy isn’t far off, and we just need 2/3 more players to make sure we don’t start like that again….

  176. rico says:

I read it online Kev, wouldn’t pay for it 😉 Nighty to you..

Good Scott but WP will solve any log on probs….

I too am off – the feathered ones need shutting up for the day…

    Nighty Scott and all….

    Stay safe…

  177. Scott from Oz says:

Madrid media think Nurk Sahin is in his way out of Real,as Modric coming in will limit his playing time next season, and guess which club is “closely monitoring the situation”?
Just take a stab in the dark,go on 🙂
I saw a bit of Lewis in action, and this kid can really play.
Vary adaptable to,as he can play several positions.
Let’s hope Wenger really is looking at an AM,as I reckon it’s priority #1 for us.

  178. Scott from Oz says:

Sorry Andrew…..it comes of one of the Arsenal news accumulators.
I’m certainly not suggesting I have inside info lol.

  179. stevepalmer1 says:

Morning all, went fishing yesterday and missed Our Scotts first post, nice one son. At the end of the day at 28 years old with only a couple of three years left Robin should be looking for the biggest shilling, i don’t beleive a player at Robins time of life is that bothered with winning trophies thats all paper talk, what he earns now will have to keep him and he’s family for the rest of their lives and after living the good life he wouldn’t want to change that, perhaps he’s time has come that he just wants to go home who knows but should he leave good luck to him. Theo on the other hand, i won’t be broken hearted if he stays or go, as he hasn’t done enough for me to worry about just get a good fee if he should go. Again well done Scott of the Os

  180. Scott from Oz says:

    Thanks Steve.
I’d have no dramas if he just came out and said he wanted the cash….we would all know exactly where we and the club stand.
As with Nasri and a few others, why make statements claiming its silverware they want,as they just end up looking silly.
Better to appear greedy than an ungrateful liar,I reckon.
Still,he may just have been giving the club a wind up to sign more classy players.

  181. Scott from Oz says:

If someone offered 18-20 million for Theo, and the cash is spent wisely,I’d come over and drive him to his new home lol.
If he signs an extension and stays,I’d be just as happy.

  182. Lee says:

Morning Housers… I did read your debut piece yesterday but didn’t get time to pat you on the back Scotty!! Good work mate!
I’ve still got a feeling that RvP signs an extension…. too much Spanish beer & sun on my part?!?!?
How did you get on fishing Steve? There’s loads of water over your way isn’t there?

  183. Scott from Oz says:

FYI,a champion guy who happens to be a Utd supporter, but loves the way our club goes about its business, has named his dog Fabregas.
It’s won 8 from 9 races, and is an absolute superstar in the making.
I’ve decided to name my next dog after our captain at the time,as It seems to be a sure way to sell him at a profit 🙂
