David Moyes has good news for Arsenal. Eyes down for a full house?

Morning all.

There are some fixtures this team under Arsene Wenger can be up for. Not many I know but when the big teams arrive at The Emirates we do seem to sometimes perform better. I know Utd battered us as far as the scoreline goes but for the majority of the game, we were by far the better team. We can’t blame Arsene Wenger for the individual mistakes which were made to gift Utd their goals but we can blame him for the way defend which to be honest is comical at times. I know we went in search for a second goal to bring the scores level but to leave the defence so exposed whilst doing so was always going to see them hit us on the break and they did which killed the game off. Simple rules of football went out the window and not for the first time. In fact being hit on the break seems to be our speciality and yes, that’s down to Arsene Wenger and his bizarre defensive ideas, or rather lack of ideas altogether…

Friday night will be one of those fixtures where I expect both the Arsenal players and fans to turn up when Liverpool, Oxlaide-Chamberlain and the effervescent Jurgen Klopp arrive at The Emirates. A great attacking side but like us, their defence is suspect to say the least, as is their keeper.

Tonight though, for a League Cup fixture against West Ham, I haven’t a clue what to expect. David Moyes is expected to rotate/rest players, as is Arsene Wenger:

Some players are a little bit on the edge. I think as well that we have so many quality players who did not start on Saturday, so you cannot say that you prefer to play a player who has played three games in six days to a guy who is at the same level and is completely fresh. The players who will start are basically all international players, so that’s why I think [squad rotation] makes sense. You have as well to show the trust and the confidence that we have in the players who did not start last week.

For West Ham, Andy Carroll is expected to return, yippee eh! Joe Hart should be between the sticks which is better for us than Adrian. But as much as Hart has received some bad press lately, imo, he’s better than David Ospina. I wouldn’t play him though, not with Carroll leading their line, I’d opt for 10′ 6″ Matt Macey and why not? Ospina will be gone soon so why not use the keeper who could very end up taking Petr Cech’s place as our number one? Theo Walcott is 100% according to Wenger so I guess that means he’ll be playing tonight although like Ospina, he’s not our future but Reiss Nelson should be and out of the two, I’d rather see the latter on the wing. Stick Walcott through the middle or even on the left.

In defence, Merts possibly to try and outdo Carroll, Debuchy at right-back, with Kolasinac on the left having been rested at the weekend and my guess is Holding will fill the final position if Wenger opts for four at the back. The rest, well perhaps Coquelin, Welbeck, Elneny and a couple of younger players will make up the numbers. I doubt Wilshere will feature as we’ll need him for the Liverpool game with Ramsey out until the New Year.

“Ideally we would have changed one or two players, but we’re a bit short and our priority is the Premier League, but nothing would give me more pleasure than reaching a cup final.” David Moyes.

I’d imagine Arsene Wenger might like the thought of another trip to Wembley but I doubt it’s top of his things to do list, not in this competition anyway. Mind you, it might be our best chance to win something this season as the other three competitions we’re in are beyond us imo. Yes, even the Europa Cup unless all the ‘big teams’ get knocked out before we have a chance to face them.

Anyway, let’s hope it’s a good game with a full house behind the boys and Arsenal can start finding the net a bit more often and of course, we win another London Derby.

Have a good day guys…

Agree Potter but in all probability he will play Ospina who also wants out.Never rated him since he joined us simply as he needs two attempts to catch a ball or fists it away which can be dangerous.Another who looked a lot better in the WC before we bought him.

Kev from the last post the official waiting list for season tickets is 29000 though they are pushing a lot of promo to become a Red Member.

I expect Debuchy,Chambers,Holding,Willock,Giroud and Walcott to start and possibly Coquelin and Elneny and even Mustafi., the rest is a guess.

As expected the Ramsey injury is prolonged into the New Year.

  2. potter says:

If he brings Ramsey back in and drops Jack before the window that creates more trouble once it’s shut he can bring his mate back into the side.

  3. rico says:

That could very well see the end of Jack. But it’s up to Jack to make that decision a non starter for Wenger.

When Ozil departs, maybe Ramsey will get to play in a position which suits his game more because central midfield doesn’t imo.

    March then?

The ongoing business off the renewal of contracts can probably be interpreted in one of two ways, ( maybe more,).
Firstly he has totally lost the dressing room and they all want out if he stays, Wenger that is, not Ramsey!
    Or,
Secondly, the players know they’re on easy street with Wenger and won’t be challenged nor intimidated by him so, better the devil you know on the inflated wages earned….why move unless of course you think a more demanding manager/coach is likely to replace the pensioner? No brainer really.

Plus of course, if the numbers of renewals is as many as have been identified then the club will make some ridiculous financial inducements in order to keep a semblance of a premiership football team!

    So three then!!

Bright here and a little warmer. I’ll check the temperature again at about 21.30!

Arsene Wenger is ready to try and use Manchester City’s interest in Alexis Sanchez to sign defender Vincent Kompany in the January transfer window, according to reports.

Seriously ? another permacrock at the end of his career.

  6. micko says:

Potter, Just because he hasn’t played 2 games in a row for the last 3 years that doesn’t make him a permacrock !

  7. Le Coq Monster says:

    Thank you Rico.

I expect a full house tonight as tickets for a quarter final Derby @£10 and £5 for kids will be too hard to turn down even with another game on Friday !

I too cant find that Ornstein tweet on official site just something about Jason Puncheon being arrested and something about CFG chanting about MU parking the bus !…………….if true though that is great news imo and if it is an official tweet then I`d be staggered if it wasn`t true knowing Ornstein.

  8. Le Coq Monster says:

Dont see a proper attacking midfielder in there !……………………a bit under the radar, what`s this with Kiolasinac playing Carabeo Cup and AMN in EPL, what`s happened to change that ?…………has Kola upset Wenger as well ?

  9. micko says:

I’d love to tell the FA to eff off with their mickey mouse cup but realistically it’s our best chance of silverware this season, only 2 games between us and the final.

More importantly I’ve got a pass for London Colney this Saturday, all going well I’ll be back to spill the beans on Arsene Wegner’s Christmas wish list if I can get my hands on it lol, leave it with me rico.

  10. Le Coq Monster says:

Typical Welbeck finish !………………………………..if they had a shit goal of the season on MOTD I reckon Danny would get top ten places !……………..love everything about him apart from his finishing………….a panicky fluffer, if only he was a cool and relaxed as Viv Richards he would be world class !

I see alot of other people also are wondering what Kola has done to be demoted to the Carabeo Cup squad !.

That team with no inventive midfieders would get hammered by CFG if they get them in the next round, better hope for Bristol City or Bournemouth !

Who the fcuk goes to a pub at 9:45pm ?……………….is that when they do the reductions ?

    😆

  11. micko says:

Le Coq, Welbeck’s first goal in the league cup since 2009, he’s a lean mean goal scoring machine !

    Nite Gooners.

Micko make sure you take your wenger out banner with you and hang it right by his office…

I don’t know what giroud or Walcott got to offer to the squad anymore. . .wenger rightly or wrongly kept giving them chances after chances to prove themselves, but so far they have failed misrably. .

We somehow scraped through ..feel sorry for those attended that borefest of a match. .
Only good thing to come out of it is that lump appeared to have done his hammy. .hopefully not to be seen again. .
Wilock the youngster did OK in midfield, and so did the pairing of holding and chambers..

  13. allezkev says:

LC, I reckon that there was about 40/42,000 there, luckily West Ham bought a fair few fans.

Of the youngsters, Willock was very good, he’s gonna some player in 18 months time.
Nelson is a very intelligent player, it’s not all about speed and trickery, he seems to think about what he’s doing, another big player for us in 18 months.
Ben Sheaf, not long on the pitch but I liked his calmness in possession, always seemed able to make time for himself. Shame we didn’t see Eddie.

West Ham aren’t a great side but they’re a big, physical unit who can cause you problems, but I felt we felt with them comfortably, I liked Chambers and Holding together, they’ve a good understanding as a pair.

  14. kelsey says:

    morning all

A huge cost in first team injuries after the less than convincing win last night.
Both Giroud and Coqelin suffered hamstring injuries, so no date for return as yet but by all accounts a number of weeks.
I can’t read into Giroud’s mind but until he pulled his hamstring he was literally a spectator yet it is reported he wants a move in January to ensure a place in the French WC squad. His body language appeared to show he wasn’t that interested in the game,so add him to another of disenchanted players at the moment.
Coqelin has his uses but again is just a squad player.

Kolasinac shouldn’t have played as we need him for Friday.
Quite a number of the kids look really useful, hopefully that progress will be maintained and if we don’t buy or offload in January, they may get more game time than originally expected

Danny is an expert in using his shins to score from a yard out,he will never be a top striker who scores regularly..

Plenty of headaches for the manager just looking ahead to Friday, having lost 3 players to hamstring injuries in 10 days

This opens the door for Jack to negotiate even harder if he really wants to stay or if Wenger actually wants him to stay..

IMO opinion more than ever Wenger has to concentrate on one or two competitions only.We haven’t got the squad in depth or quality to concentrate on more.

Have to end this comment with Walcott.Time and time again he flatters to deceive and should have been sold years ago. What future has he with us if any and who would buy him.?.

  15. rico says:

    Morning all.

I haven’t watched the game but can imagine how it played out.

New post is up now but it’s not by me so be nice. I’ve done a Wenger, just taken the money…

    See you there hopefully..
