Contract signed, Debut expected & Riley does it again!!

Morning all.

Mikel Arteta has signed a one year contract extension according to his agent. I’m sure a few fans will be pleased about that….

Work permit secured, Joel Campbell is in Spain, yet still nothing officially confirmed by Arsenal.com about Gabriel. They do like to keep us all waiting don’t they, perhaps Arsene is waiting to announce two together….

There’s a few suggestions that our new chap is going straight into the starting eleven on Sunday to face Aston Villa although I can’t see that happening as he’ll need a few training sessions with his new team-mates surely.

Talking of that game, Anthony Taylor is referee – deep joy!

He was dreadful in the same fixture on the opening day of last season.

Having taken an early lead through Ollie, Taylor awarded Villa two penalties, both were dreadful decisions.

The first was after Agbonlahor flicked the ball between Koscielny’s legs and prodded it past Szczesny. Agbonlahor was caught by our keeper but Taylor played the advantage however, when Weimann fluffed his lines and hit the side-netting with his shot, Taylor gave them a second chance by pointing to the spot and Benteke took advantage. Despite the save from Szczesny, Benteke fired home the rebound. Shocking officiating!

The second was equally as bad, if not worse. Agbonlahor was deemed to have been tripped by Laurent Koscielny in the penalty area and received a yellow card for what was a perfectly timed tackle. Up stepped Benteke to make no mistake.

From 1-0 up to 2-1 down and all because of that lump in charge!

Adding insult to injury, and we suffered a few of those on that day, Taylor showed Koscielny a second yellow card soon after his first and we were down to ten men.

Mike Riley clearly enjoyed Taylors performance, so much so he no doubt hopes for another just like it.

Taylor has officiated two matches of ours this season, Leicester and Stoke City, both away from home. At Leicester we had a penalty claim turned down, at Stoke, having been 3-0 down by half-time, we’d started what looked like a great comeback. At 3-2 and with ten minutes or regulation time left, Taylor saw fit to ensure that we wouldn’t get anything from the game by sending off Calum Chambers… A very harsh decision!

Well Arsene Wenger should know what to expect from Taylor as should the players. Give him nothing to penalise and let football win the day.

We are in good form and we can’t let that useless official change that…

That’s it for Wednesday, have a good one…

I hope you ain’t pulling my legs re. MA08 signing an extension on his contract? 😉

He is still a top player imo and should be used teh same as the Mozart going forward.

Scott; from previous page re Suarez. I hope we ain’t interested. he wasn’t interested before and certainly is not what we need now. He has thus far shown in La Liga that he was only good in the EPL imo…

I would rather we spent the £60m+ on Koke/Vidal.

BBC have instead of sacking Neville for his two footed comments decided to just warn him and have suggested that it was all in jest, what stupid cnuts they are.

    – BBC STATEMENT
his comment was not meant to offend in any way, but on reflection, Phil acknowledges that the language he used was unfortunate.

That said, Mark Chapman did immediately challenge him and the tone of the discussion was light-hearted enough to suggest that the panel were not condoning any kind of violence or setting an example to a younger audience.

BBC Sport will, however, remind the team to take extra care during discussions during our live programmes.

Yes Rico, I have to say that there has been a discernible upping in quality, of your recent posts…

    They are really very good.

    Keep up the good work.

    Chin chin 😉

He has been warned but really they are only joking .

Going back to yesterday ,my point on England not winning was more related to the liking the world has for our blood and guts style. Whoever plays it is immaterial but whilst we have that sort of stuff being the aim of certain teams and definitely the commentating pundits , players from wherever will not produce the football needed for their countries. Very few Anglos play abroad so our squad contains nearly 100% of players that encompass that style . our international opponents probably field 2 or 3 if any. Therefor we go as far as we can until we come up against a team that plays us off the pitch and then lose. Nothing much has changed since 1953 when our arrogance thought that we were too good to get beaten by Hungary.

    Hi all
The Villa home game last season was a dark day indeed. As well as the two dodgy pens both Kosser’s yellows were a complete joke. For the second one he was about two feet away from the player he was alleged to have fouled! Talking of scumbags, the Chavs were back to their odious worst last night. They really are a revolting club from top to bottom including the fans stuck in a 70’s/80’s time warp. My work colleague is a Bradford City fan who went to the dog track on Saturday. He told me the atmosphere after the game was toxic with the Neanderthal Chavs kicking off at the Bradford fans because their team had the audacity to beat them. Oh for the days when they yo-yoed between the first and second divisions!

  6. Marinello says:

Good post Rico. The standard of refereeing in the EPL has really gone down hill over the years. Many referees appear to never to consult their Linesmen if unsure of the decision. They just wave play on or give a decision that no one in the ground understands. Not an easy job I know, but they have chosen to do it.
Has Coquelin signed a new contract yet.
I’m going to the Villa game on Sunday.

  7. rico says:

Thanks Marinello, I think it’s always been awful but with an odd one or two who have been decent, now it seems they are all as bad as each other…

  8. bradster says:

    hi HH’ers,

regarding Suarez, if Walcott can make it in the team and not track back we can afford to rather have Suarez there that won’t track back either but is likelier to score or get past a defender.
I wonder if they are interested in a swap deal?

  9. Joe says:

Taylor in his last four Arsenal games has sent off 3 Arsenal players he really is an odious little cheat.
I will spend Sunday letting him know what I think of him I hope the crowd will also let him know we know he is a cheat.

  10. rico says:

Joel Campbell has signed a new long term deal before he went on loan. Good!

Sorry Joe, didn’t see you’d already said that about Gabriel..

  11. rico says:

Bob, spot on re your earlier….

    Gabriel said:

“I came from a club that is not that big in Brazilian football. I went to Spanish football and that was another dream come true, to play in Europe. A while ago I had a really huge desire to play in the Premier League, so since that point I put it in my head that I really wanted to do it. I had a talk with my family and I told them that it was my dream to play in the Premier League. Getting here to such a big club is so gratifying.

“I am arriving at a big club and the fans can expect to find a Gabriel with a great will to help everyone. Not just thinking of me as an individual, because to me that is not important. I care more about helping the team and my team-mates. I want to help everyone, so the fans can expect a Gabriel that on the field has a lot of will to be able to help the team win important things.”

  12. Joe says:

Good to hear on Campbell, It’s alright Rico I beat you because I am just sitting watching SS before I start dinner.

  13. Joe says:

Not yet, seen a snow shower on the m50 around 2pm today nothing around home I’d say the Wicklow mts will get some tonight.

  14. Bt62 Gooner says:

Joe, you’re certainly in the right area for snow…

Wish i was going on Saturday to see you come off the wagon…

  15. Joe says:

It’s going to be an event I went to the pub on Sunday had two cokes in one pub and sparkling water with lime in another yuk!

  16. Bt62 Gooner says:

Joe, should be a giggle then, not to much before the game or Taylor might not appear for the second half….

  17. Joe says:

I start on the 3rd 😉 that’s the secret of my success.
I advise Taylor to pull a hamstring before the match I think I’ll start with the old classic who’s your father. 🙂

  18. Lee says:

Hopefully Arteta’s signing won’t thwart Schneiderlin’s arrival. Seems the Saintls have already lined up a Dutch replacement.
I also read RM might want to out Benzema, any takers?

  19. allezkev says:

Joel Campbell signed a new deal, hmm, interesting???

Does Wenger actually see him as a part of his plans?
If so, then why not play him more?!

Or have Arsenal signed him to ensure that they get a decent fee when they sell him?

Maybe the agent has seen a way to get two commissions for himself?!

One from Arsenal and one from Campbell’s next club, in the summer?!

  20. Bt62 Gooner says:

Kev, perhaps cynics naturally gravitate towards each other….

That said, you could do a lot worse…

  21. rico says:

Lee, perhaps it’s just a case of tying him down and getting rid of Flamini, diaby and perhaps Coq…. Morgan and Belik it could be…..

  22. Joe says:

It’s almost as much fun as last night it looks like it could be an expensive win for Chelsea due to injuries and suspensions.

  23. allezkev says:

    Scum vs Chavs….

Hmm, who do I dislike more?

Just hope that it’s gonna be a dirty game settled by a penalty shoot-out…

    Night All

  24. rico says:

Morning Kev. Same here with snow forecast….

Wonder what will happen to Costa. Three game ban at least hopefully and Fabregas out for a long time too with a bit of luck.

See how the dwarf deals with that….

  25. allezkev says:

Looking at the fixtures, in the second half of the season, and as long as we keep the majority of the squad fit, then we could be in for a very encouraging finish to 2014/15…

I suppose we’ll know more after the game at the Slum, the weekend after next…
We have the Scousers at home, Everton at home, Chavs at home and ManUre away.
After the City result there’s no reason why this Arsenal team/squad shouldn’t approach those games in a much more positive way.

  26. allezkev says:

Yeah Rico, it would be marvellous if our injury jinx found a new home, hopefully in the Fulham Broadway area. 🙂
