We’re all still kids at heart aren’t we, an inch of snow and the balls of ice are soon thrown around.
Juventus manager Max Allegri was once the name on many an Arsenal fan’s wish list to replace Arsene Wenger and then Unai Emery. The club, instead of opting for another experienced manager after Emery, went Mikel Arteta. After two season’s of head scratching, I’d imagine even the once hardened Arteta critics have now changed their opinion of him. I know I have.
The two managers are about to go head to head as Arsenal take on Juventus at The Emirates Stadiums. Neither manager can field his strongest starting eleven because of the World Cup but even so, we should see two very good sides take to the pitch initially.
I know this is only a friendly but I’m sure both sides will want to win ahead of the domestic campaign return. This time next week, Arsenal will be preparing to face West Ham, Juventus however, have another couple of weeks before they take on Cremonese. Who?
Dusan Vlahovic Is likely to play later, the 6’ 3” striker we were heavily linked to this time last year but, regardless of whether the stories were true or not, he ended up at Juventus. Still, if Arsenal had signed him, perhaps Gabriel Jesus wouldn’t be at Arsenal. It’ll be interesting to see how good, or bad he is against what I think is a good Arsenal defence.
With Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka still on a break and Gabriel Jesus injured, it’s another opportunity for Reiss Nelson and Marquinhos to try and convince Mikel Arteta that he and the club don’t need to sign a winger and of course, Eddie Nketiah to show he can match the work rate we see from our number one striker. To score goals too.
Anyway, here’s the squad for the game, enjoy it…
good evening Rico, A decent starting eleven, but I’m surprised that Zinchenko is not in the side nor on the bench. As he’s been excused WC duty its worrying that he’s absent this evening.
It’s been fine and sunny here in Norfolk but below freezing all day. At one time this morning we had twelve blackbirds and four fieldfares squabbling over the apples I put out on the back lawn. That’s in addition to many blue tits on the nut feeders. Another hooligan black bird has eaten all the berries on the holly wreath on the front door. Cest la vie. 😉
Evening Cicero. Same here re the birds. Filling the feeders twice a day, defrosting the bird bath’s, a ton of sultana’s being eating. Love it..
Ha ha re the wreath..,
Arsenal 0 – 1 Juventus 1. Xhaka own goal.
Nelson subbed off in first half, for Marquinhos.
Yep, very early sub. Hope Nelson isn’t injured.
2-0 down now.
Not a great result.
Kick up the bum before West Ham hopefully..
Nelson picked up a muscle injury.
New post up now
