City want Jack Wilshere! Will £20 million bid spark Arsene into action?

Morning all..

Well it all kicked off in the Copa America last night. Brazil lost 1-0 to Ospina’s Columbia and when the final whistle blew, the gloves were off! Neymar nutted Columbia’s goalscorer Murillo and then Carlos Bacca, seeking retribution, shoved the Barcelona man in the back and got his marching orders for doing so.

No such dramas for the England women in their match yesterday. Karen Carney and Fara Williams ensured their side reached the World Cup knock-out stages with a 2-1 victory over Columbia.

Just like so many summers and January’s gone by, Arsenal FC need just a couple of additions to make us ‘proper’ contenders but we have to wait, be patient and hope. Wacking that F5 button on Newsnow every five minutes won’t do you any good, honest as I know, as I’ve been doing it for years. Too many years, just like all of us..

All that does is bring up some old tale which has perhaps been regurgitated from summers/January’s gone by or simply invented by someone who had a good night out the day before…

So instead, let’s have a look at how our fixtures sit after our Champions League group matches and if I make a mistake, be kind as I’ve been up all night hitting my F5 key….

2015/16 UEFA Champions League match calendar

Group stage, match-day one 15–16/09/15

PL – Away v Chelsea!

Group stage, match-day two 29–30/09/15

PL – Home v Man Utd

Group stage, match-day three 20–21/10/15

PL – Home v Everton.

Group stage, match-day four 03–04/11/15

PL – Home v Totts

Group stage, match-day five 24–25/11/15

PL – Away v Norwich City

Group stage, match-day six 08–09/12/15

PL – Away v Aston Villa

The worst fixture is clearly having to play the Chavs away from home but they too may have had to play a Champions League fixture that same week. As might Man Utd should they get through their qualifying round. At least we are at home for that one.

Travelling to Villa and Norwich should be nothing to fear, no more than facing the Totts and Everton at home after the other group games so all’s not too bad as far as the group fixtures go.

Lets just hope we get get a favourable draw and for once we can top the group…..

Back to the gossip:

Rob Green is reported to be heading to Stamford Bridge as Petr Cech gets closer to joining Arsenal.

Man City, having had two bids for Raheem Sterling turned down are now gunning for Jack Wilshere. That, if true, is a clear indication City are in desperate need of English/home grown players. Well I doubt they’ll be getting one from us.

Martin Montoya is being linked to us this morning. Mind you, he’s linked to a few PL sides.

Geoffrey Kondogbia, the player many fans would like to see at Arsenal could be on his way to AC Milan as reports suggest the Italian club have made a £20 million offer for the Frenchman. Go on Arsene, offer a few quid more and get him at Arsenal…

That’s it for Thursday, have a great day…..

Villa (a) could be tasty, they’ll be looking for a bit of revenge…

Rico, aren’t Arsenal going into CL Pot Two this season?
Not that being in Pot One has made much difference…

  2. rico says:

Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio:

“Both Inter and Milan are competing to sign him, but now face competition from Arsenal.

“Wenger holds Kondogbia in high regard, the two have already talked.”

    😛

  3. rico says:

I don’t know Kev re the CL pot, the dates for the fixtures though were from the official site if that makes a difference.. lol

  4. allezkev says:

    Morning All…

    Good post Rico…

    Wilshere to City isn’t a go’er for sure…
Jack could be in for a good season, with Shad looking after his ankles…

It’s a beautiful sunny day at Canary Wharf…

    For Mick, it’s 59’F…

  5. rico says:

    Thanks Kev..

Jack has said he won’t go anywhere just to make up the English numbers and not for one minute do I think AW would sell him in any case. He’s one of the ‘favs’….

  6. allezkev says:

    Interesting re: Kondogbia, Rico…

Is that €20m or £20m, the Press never seem to get it right.
Actually they don’t get much right at all…

  7. allezkev says:

Yeah, Pot Two could well be Pot Luck for us, Rico…

So we’ll probably go into a Group with Barcelona… 😛

  8. tsgh says:

    Good read Rico.

I saw the Cabaye link to Totts and also Crystal palace.

We should tell Shitty to F off with that JW bid..

I was wondering which cabbie was heckling Boris Johnson whilst he was on his bike? 🙂

  9. Wavy says:

    Morning all, and Rico!
Good read. Sadly the fixtures are the fixtures….one game at a time, or should I say one win at a time!
The Jack to Shitteh is possibly true, not that he’ll go but more they are trying to hoover up England internationals to satisfy the FA’s quota!
I know this is not true of all players but I think we are reaching ‘tipping’ point as far as transfers and salaries are concerned, also I think some of the players are less magnetised by the promise of huge wages but are far more concerned with playing regularly and getting the endorsements from sponsors to supplement their already massive pay packets?
Sterling may have been truthing when he suggested it was ‘not about the money’ it was about not wanting to be on Merseyside any longer. I mean if the first person you see on the training ground has flashing beacons of a set of brilliant white teeth, what would you do?
Jack, why would he want to leave the South east of England and move to Manshitster? He would lose all his mates, his domestic support systems, the open top bus rides, free, around Islington! Etc. there may be some intent on the Marc’s side but Jack won’t be tempted by the money, he earns enough already and the loss to him would not be quantifiable in cash terms. I may be very wrong here, but I do believe that the notion of ‘everybody has their price’ is wearing a bit thin. Plenty would and do get greedy, especially agents, but the players I suspect are not so easily gulled, any longer.
I could go on…..but it’s a bit early for the “morning nap”!

  10. tsgh says:

    Good point Wavy…

There might not be much difference between being a millionaire and being a billionaire from working persons’ point of view but once signing on fees etc come into play, I think minds can be changed at least from an agents point of view.

I can see an agent whispering to young Jack that Arsenal threw him under the bus with his £40k fine by not defending him against the Fa charges…

I am becoming very delusional and cynical … 🙂

  11. tsgh says:

JW recently scored 2 goals at international and so he is allegedly back to his best and is as good as Pogba …

If he was to get injured again, it will be questioned why he was not sold…

    Same as Theo imho…

Then again quotas have to be met to appease Dyke and co. and so…

  12. tsgh says:

    Good for them…

Totts might be trying to keep Lloris happy with that bid. 🙂

Disappointing reading Vidal was arrested for drink driving. 🙁

  13. Wavy says:

Like the idea of ‘rampant’ and ‘masculinity’ although you could be on thin p c ice if you uttered such a phrase publicly!

  14. goonster says:

Great post rico….tell shitty to fuck off. We are no more a selling club. Go down the seven sisters road.

  15. Dublingunner says:

Morning, Kondogbia only 22, looks a real typical Arsene signing, capped for france u17,18, etc, supposedly has been in talks with Wenger, can play dm,centre or left back, Wenger likes him. His wiki page is a bit strange. Said last night he,s current club was Milan, they changed it back to Monaco earlier, and his birth place is Nemours, Highbury, thats a coincidence.

  16. goonster says:

Rico jack is arsenal through and through. He won’t leave unless he’s forced out. As long as arsene keeps faith with him he ll stay. Jack Is not for sale so fuck off shitty.

  17. Wavy says:

We’ve been rambling on about a new CF, not that I think we need one just now! But will someone please explain to me why Afobe was sold and not
Landed to Wolves? I notice he has been picked to replace the injured Berahino for the England U21’s. Is he that good or are they just scraping the barrel?

  18. Canadian Gooner says:

Good Morning to The Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.

I echo the general sentiment about Citeh’s bid for Jack the Lad. They should be told, politely or not, to go forth and propagate unilaterally.

If the Cech deal goes through, it should be completed very soon. As for any other deals they may be late in the window as Arsene waits for the selling clubs to blink first and lower their price to a more reasonable level. Arsene would rather miss out on a player than pay well over his valuation of the player.

Chelski and especially Citeh are desperate to meet the English/home grown player quotas. So, may have to pay well over market value for those players (i.e. Raheem Sterling). That may well hamper their ability to compete for other targets. It is a shame that those two clubs bought and failed to develop &/or play so many promising young English players, virtually stalling many careers, are now desperate for them.

  19. Canadian Gooner says:

Joe – I’ve read that there may be a buy back clause in Afobe’s sales agreement. However that hasn’t, to best of my knowledge, been confirmed by the player, his agent or either club. So, it is just speculation at this point in time.

  20. Wavy says:

Bentner as Statz Minister, after Borgen? He’s just not in the same league, or presently in the same country as the beautiful form fictional First Lady! She could have had me if she’d played her cards right!

  21. Canadian Gooner says:

Ginge – Maybe he will find something he is good at or good for. However, I wont hold my breathe.

  22. Wavy says:

Sissies Babett Knudsen aka Birgitte Nyborg PM.
Ahhhhh me, one can dream, one can dream……….

  23. Wavy says:

    Last remark….for now.

Jack has excellent diplomatic skills perhaps he should look at the possibilities of a career in politics after he finishes with football?

  24. tsgh says:

    lol Wavy…
If JW ever became a minister he might get Frimpong to be his under-secretary. scary thought.

I can see Theo as the host of Match of the Day though…

  25. Joe says:

We could put Jack in charge of reaching agreement on setting up the boarder between north London and Middlesex and passport control.

  26. Joe says:

CG your right on Afobe’s contract and I am not sure we have ever used it to bring a player back but they have made some money on sell on clauses. Bentley 🙂

  27. Wavy says:

Yes Joe, good idea. Jack could spend his life ‘smoking’ out all the shit supporters trying to cross the border into Seven Sisters’ Heaven land!

  28. goonster says:

Arsenal goal keeper coach leaves london Colney rico….read what you want to read in that. But it seems cech is on his way to us. Christ help me. Am I in a parallel universe? Are we about to sign a world class player from a rival for 11 million pounds and him still in his prime? ??

  29. goonster says:

Somebody pinch me. Maureen ll have a fit 😀 men that ll literally the be the happiest day of my life 😀

  30. goonster says:

  31. goonster says:

  32. Adam says:

Stanley. As Rico says, let’s wait ’till it is done before we celebrate. I have always been more interested in the forward player we are trying to sign. 🙂

  33. goonster says:

Adam I ll bet my house that cech ll be an arsenal player this time next week 😀 my sauce is never wrong 😀

  36. allezkev says:

Now this is what happens, when it’s late and instead of going to bed, I have a butchers on NewsNow…

Of course I should know better.
Of course it’s the usual click bait tripe.
Of course I got suckered in…
    And
Of course the headline on the Metro was a load of bollocks.

It took me less than 10 seconds to click on it and then realise and click off.

But those Metro wankers managed to mug me off again, the little blighters… 🙁

  37. allezkev says:

Not satisfied I got suckered by the Star as well. Oh woe is me…

‘Arsenal close in on Benzema’ roared the headline…

Yeah, another pile of shit, thought I…
But I still clicked on it…

Adam would have loved the grammar…

‘handed a major boost in their pursuit due to finical problems at Real Madrid’…

Did you spot the deliberate mistake?
    It’s a tricky one to pick out….

The Star, it’s always good for a laugh eh?

    Night All…

  38. Lee says:

I can make the HHCC lunch when Rico comes up to the smoke! When is it Adam/Kev?
Cech, Kondogbia and Benzema would you be happy? I think with no injuries and those signings we might retain the FA cup?!?!

  39. rico says:

I’d be happy(ish) with those three Lee 🙂

    Morning to you and all…

🙂 Kev, why do you do it….

    2018 is the HHCC.. lol

  40. Adam says:

Morning Rico, Brudder, Kev, Devil and all. Kev, would that be the spelling, the missing comma or the lack of the correct quotation marks?
Either way, its origin means it is a dubious claim anyway. 🙂

  41. allezkev says:

    Morning All..,

    Morning Rico.

    Morning Munchers.

I thought the spelling mistake Adam, but your eye is as sharp as a laser and saw what I didn’t see…

I wish I had eyes as sharp as yours mate.

Failing that, mince pies of azure, that knock out maidens at 100 yards, wouldn’t go amiss…

  42. allezkev says:

    Morning Coach…

DB10, 20 years ago, God that is scary…

    1995 eh Coach, I was only 25…

    Ah, the good old days…

  43. allezkev says:

I know Rico, you still look so young…

Must be all that country air and fresh eggs for breakfast

  44. Hell Raising Devil says:

Cech will be bringing Lollichon with him. Good, we need a top goalkeeper coach. Hopefully he will knock some sense into Ches as well.

I an way I am very sad that Ospina is to be let go. I have followed him since he was 20 years old and have always been impressed by him. However given our situation, even though I rate him over Ches atm, I still think that with the right coaching Ches may become even better than Cech. In four years time Ches will be 29 while Cech would be on the verge of retiring. So it makes sense to allow Ospina to leave. I wish him luck.

With Cech in the team Arsenal will be having two 6ft 5in keepers. That is good for our defence. Hopefully we will be keeping more clean sheets.

Is 11mill a good investment on Petr?? imo a resounding YES. It might be the 11million which tips us towards winning the EPL or CL.

    we wait and see.
