Chelsea man gets my vote, who gets yours?

Morning all.

Sky Sports do this every year as they look back on the season gone by. What was your favourite moment, worst moment, most controversial moment, the list is endless and that’s because they have to fill their day with sport.

It’s hard to pick out an Arsenal moment as being one of my favourites looking back on last years campaign and perhaps that’s because too many bad moments remain fresh in my mind, just as I expect they do with you guys.

The goals against Man Utd at The Emirates were great, the performance was superb during both halves and I think that’s my best memory from last season. Danny Welbeck coming on very late in the game against Leicester to score in the dying seconds makes me smile too, perhaps that’s because I’d just typed ‘he won’t will he’ in the comments section. He did of course and with it, Mesut Ozil earned yet another assist.

The German maestro had a superb second season with Arsenal but it would have been so much better with had he had a player on his wavelength ahead of him. Dennis Bergkamp had Wrighty and Henry, Ozil needs similar imo.

As said, little sticks out when it comes to chooses my favourite Arsenal moment so instead, it has to be Eden Hazard scoring for Chelsea against Tottenham. Hazard had endured a dreadful season by his standards, he was allegedly one of the players who declared he’d rather lose than play for Mourinho or something similar and for that alone, which probably contributed to Mourinho’s sacking, I started to like the player a little more but it was his goal late on a Monday night which steals it.

Tottenham could still win the league going into theย but they needed a win at Stamford Bridge and having gone 2-0 up, it certainly looked like they were on course for victory. Chelsea though had other ideas and after half-time, they upped their game. Cahill scored the first, Hazard the second with a stunning goal. Leicester were crowned Champions, Tottenham had bottled it and we know what happened after then. From title chasers, to third as Arsenal grabbed second place to finish above them as usual.

The most controversial moment has to be Mike Dean and how he failed to deal with Costa despite having numerous reasons to send him off. There’s little doubt that that decision cost us three massive points and a victory for Wenger over Mourinho.

Best Arsenal goal, the Flamini strike against Tottenham was pretty good, as was Elneny’s against Barcelona but it’s Walcott against Man City which just nabs it for me. Ok I know, I’m biased. lol

The worst Arsenal moment, well sadly there’s too many to mention but as far as our league challenge goes, it has to be Anfield. Conceding an equaliser so late in the game was naive to say the least and I think that is when our season took a turn for the worse.

Yet it kind of summed up the Arsenal ofย recent years and next season that has to change. We have to be able to hold onto lead until the referee blows his whistle at the end of the game..

Over to you guys and gals….

Best – Giroud saving us the blushes in Greece.
Worst – the shitshow at O.T, Andy Carrol’s hattrick comes close second.
Goal – Welbeck’s header against Leicester. Got us two points close…two.

  2. Adam says:

The grass too long and too wet at Southampton was bad, but Giroud’s unforgettable magnificence in scoring that hat-trick on the last day thus ensuring his place at the head of the striking queue is an abiding image. The way he puffed his chest out, put his cupped hand to his ear and pointed to his name on the back of his shirt was wonderful. Like a giant predator who had been stalking his prey for literally months before making his deadly move.

Girouds goal vs Bayern in our 2-0 win…

The place exploded, not a classic goal but it’s what it meant in a brilliant game… ?

  4. allezkev says:

Adam, we’ve discussed that Anfield goal many times and our feelings at the time and since.

As you say, a bummer indeed mate…

  5. Adam says:

Kev. The Boxing Day kicking by Southampton remains a pivotal point of the season for me. But, I totally agree that the Liverpool late winner was alarmingly awful.

  6. Adam says:

Kev. How could anybody, especially his own countrymen, boo a 24 goal a season striker?
I’m going to vote out because of that.

  7. Lee says:

” Like a giant predator who had been stalking his prey for literally months before making his deadly move.”

He had been stalking a goal for literally months, hadn’t he??

  8. allezkev says:

    I wish I had hair like Giroud…

His bank account would be nice as well…

Then I could look Lee and Adam in the eye.

Worst moment, Santi’s injury. I was gutted by that because I knew then it was just a matter of time before we fold. We have no other player like him in terms of passing, movement, holding the ball and creating space. He also makes Ozil better. Best moment, Koeman going off on the refs after SH lost to Leicester City.

    Hi All,

I loved the draw against Tottenham. Coq was stupid but wow what a fight back, I felt we could’ve won it with 10 men.

Bad was stupidly going down to Chelsea and getting Nicked by that Skunk straight after when he should’ve been sent off too.

Best feeling, Welbeck nicking the win against Leicester, St Totteringham day when it was so unexpected, beating Bayern which was also so unexpected.

Bad was making history like breaking Dinamo Zagreb’s record and Messi’s barron spell.

Hated Vardy after he cheated to get a penalty against us, loved it when the ref caught him out against West Ham.

Loved Ramsey’s flick goal and Ozil’s Karate kid volley.

Santi’s injury hit us hard, so did Ollie’s winter break… lol

Welbeck being injured all season was dreadful too as when OG went awol, he may have stepped up…

    Good morning Rico and all….

Adam- ” As Jeremiah said ‘ the lying quill of the scribes made it in vain’… ๐Ÿ˜‰

Giroud only went on an incredible 15 games barren run… maybe he is like a jaguar, selective on when it stalks its prey when it already has a meal buried…

    Worst barren spells…Forlan went for 27 games before scoring…; Torres 9 months…

  13. tsgh says:

Dev- it was always a done deal, the moment pep signed for Shitty and Rummeinge refused to get Pep to bring him to BM last summer… These deals are apparently always done months in advance.
last week when we were discussing JW I mentioned Gundogan was all but done unless City’s insurers opted not to underwrite the deal since he was injured…

Morning all, day six of this continuous sun shine its causing the consumption of large amounts of blackened meet products.
    Oh and ale ?

  15. Hell Raising Devil says:

Gabriel BArbosa is a 19 year old who plays for Santos.

He has already featured in 144 games scoring 51 goals

For the national team he came on as a sub and scored.

    He is 5ft 10ins

    His nickname is Gabigol

  16. Joe says:

Giroud’s loss of form happened with Sanchez injured pushed in to a camera pit Welbeck still injured (we should have brought cover easier said than done)
Walcott having he’s worst season playing wise since he join the club.

  17. Lee says:

I thought it was a red variety of Italian grape….. or old “red beard” the pirate?!? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  18. Hell Raising Devil says:

From what I can see he is an Alexis type of player. Small, chunky and can play anywhere across the front line.

But remember that he will not get visa immediately. unless they apply for special visa based on exceptional talent

  19. Adam says:

Morning Rico and all. Sometimes you get to see some of these ‘rated’ players here and there on TV. They may well have a decent game but, more often than not, they are distinctly average. I have that issue with both Gundogan and Mhiktarian (dodgy spellings there I think). I have seen them run around a bit, fall over and give the ball away after an attempted bit of skill that seems to exceed their ability. That’s about it. If you include the ghastly Turan you could add a brutal hack at an opponent for good measure.
On occasion though, they have a certain charisma to their play, look well-balanced and treat the ball as their friend. Traits I have seen in neither of the above. Having said that, I am sure they must both be good players. Just that I haven’t seen it – yet.

  20. Joe says:

It’s been hard here hunting for food and drink making ice cream in the blazing sun but I’ll try to put something together soon.
It would be much easier when we win the pl next season cause I could write a post telling most of you I was right all along you know the kind of thing I told you so piece. ?
