Change of heart over Walcott? Jenkinson finished & Wilshere called up…

Morning Gooners,

Rumours started a day or two ago about Walcott and suggestion was that Arsenal had upped their offer in a new contract. £85, 000 was the reported figure, not quite the £100, 000 that he is suggested to be asking but it’s still an increase on what he was on.

Wenger has reiterated that he wants the player to stay:

My desire is to keep Theo, we do what’s needed to keep him and hopefully [as] I told you many times, we can sort this situation out very soon. Very soon is before the end of December – one way or another, that is for sure.

I don’t want to go into any details but you can believe me [that] we do the maximum we can to keep our best players.

December is not long, so fingers crossed but it does kind of suggest that it’s a case of sign or be sold in January rather than let the player get a bumper pay packet elsewhere in the summer.

Next up is England, Carl Jenkinson has turned his back on Finland for definite now, well as long as he call up for England results in him getting playing time and of course FIFA give him the all clear. Great news for our young right back who really has had an incredible footballing journey since catching the eye of  whoever it was who recommended we sign him which surely wasn’t Arsene, he and defenders don’t go together!

It’s no more than young Jenks deserves though, he’s been outstanding for us since the beginning of the season and it’s a shame he made way for the return of Sagna.

In fact, have our results gone downhill since Sagna returned? Maybe it’s not Santos’s fault after all…. Yes, I jest about the latter!

Jack Wilshere has also been given the nod by Roy Hodgson and despite most thinking playing for his country again is a tad early after his comeback, Wenger has reached some kind of agreement with the England manager.

You know what I think [about Wilshere], that it is early for him, I had Roy Hodgson on the phone, we found a good understanding and a good compromise. What helps is that he is not playing over the weekend because he is suspended, of course. He will have a little breather. Roy wants him in the group to connect the game with the players.

I don’t want to talk about that [the number of minutes Wilshere could play], Roy is in a better position to talk about that because he is the coach of the team and he can better explain how he will use the players. But it’s a friendly, of course.

The ideal solution would be [that he wasn’t involved]. It is as it is. He has played three games now, and of the three games only one [has been a] full game.

I’m with Wenger here, it’s far too early for him to be playing.

Jack Wilshere has been talking about the Fulham game and how he’s ‘gutted’ not to be playing but then goes on to say it might not be such a bad thing as he’ll have a little break before we play Tottenham.

Well that has gone now as you can bet your life that Hodgson will play him, and not just for ten minutes at the end either.

Every time England play, those who commentate nearly always mention how good it will be to have Jack Wilshere back. I suspect the all the England fans can’t wait to see our little midfielder back either but surely this game is too early and considering it’s a friendly, what really is the point in calling him up?

Maybe it’s to keep Walcott and Jenkinson company, after all, no-one else really likes the Arsenal players do they…..

Finally, the injury update which I suspect you have all seen by now.

Oxlade-Chamberlain and Aaron Ramsey will undergo fitness tests today to determine whether they are fit enough to join the squad for tomorrows fixture. Wojciech Szczesny will play for the under-21s tonight and if all goes well, he too maybe included in tomorrow squad.

Otherwise, Gervinho, Diaby, Rosicky and Gibbs remain sidelined through injury!

That’s it for today, have a good one…

    Good morning all,

A lady you keeps to her promise! 😉

You promised positive news today and you exceeded that considering… What I am trying to say is it is a fine post.

My only grief with HH is that you are the reason why my work rate has dropped to levels comparable to Santos jogging down the left flank since I found you. 😀

  2. bondex says:

morning all…really good post…..the little boy inside of me wants DIABY back..I want DIABY…I want DIABY

  3. bondex says:

@tsGH…I understand what you mean as per your work rate dropping… That’s how good this place is..I’ve received warnings my self at work…be careful mate.

  4. rico says:

    Morning all..

    Thanks Tsgh and Bondex…

I do like to speak the truth – and ha ha re your work Tsgh, don’t you blame me when you get summonsed into the office.. 😉

  5. rico says:

😆 Bondex, you go carefully, no more warnings. I think we all want Diaby back, even if its to show he’s fit enough to fetch a few £’s..

Lee, just seen Fliday – I fell for that one 😉

  6. bondex says:

thanks Rico..being careful means pretending you really dont have anything to say to all the comments being posted and reading all with a big grin… 😀 😀

  7. tsGH says:

Ha ha Bondex according to goonie you have a crate of the Nigerian Guinness underneath your desk at work, so you can’t blame HH. Me on the other hand the blame lies squarely at Rico. 😀

  8. emma says:

    Good morning gunnersphere

If true that Sagna is earning£60k p.w its really not fair. He is our most consistent performer when fit. How do you justify Sagna wage and Squillaci/Chamakh/Djorou?

  9. devilgunner says:

Good Morning my Esteemed Gunner Conspirators.

Good positive post Rico. Maybe this was done with a background of vegetables in mind.

Charlie Austin???? Who is he Rico?

    Never heard of him?

  10. rico says:

😆 Tsgh, don’t you go blaming me too…

Totally agree re Sagna, Squilli is on nearly as much as him… Isn’t he?

  11. sube says:

I won’t mind Wallcot leaving. He will do well with a mid-table club.
We should replace him with a genuine winger-cum-striker.

  12. rico says:

Spot on emma, joke isn’t it…

Thanks devil, no veggies in mind though 😉

Charlie Austin plays for Burnley and has scored more goals than both Messi and Ronaldo…

  13. devilgunner says:

That is why I said that some wages are criminal and obscene Rico. Chamack I understand because he came on a free and I still believe that he is a good striker who is not being given the chance. He went downhill after RVPussy came back from injury. But Squilli being on the same wages is criminal, obscene and a joke.

  14. devilgunner says:

Just went on Wikipedia to search for him. 6ft 2 ins tall. Can he replicate it in the premier??

Maybe another Jenks would do. But would they sell??

  15. Potter says:

Another month apparently Bondex . Really a waste of time and energy. Blame Dan Smith not Diaby but enough is enough.

  16. rico says:

I agree devil, it’s not the wages we pay the good guys, its the crazy wage we give to the ‘hangers on’…

Every club has a price devil, but he could be another Jeffers 😉

Potter – yes, it’s not the players fault but as you say, there comes a time when the club needs to say, enough is enough…

  17. W.A.T.H says:

Hi Dev, same shit different day mate…. Hope your well, All ok here Ts… hope your keeping your head above water at work, Rico is such a bad influence..!

  18. W.A.T.H says:

You all know we’ll sell Sagna…. He have Jenks to fill his boots and he cost a million, sell Sagna for 10 and we laughing, more bonus money for Gazidis and Co…!

  19. W.A.T.H says:

    It’s a bit worrying that we’re now 7 weeks into Diaby’s 3 week injury…!

Memo to Wneger – your shit at gambling… DON’T do it again..!!

  20. W.A.T.H says:

It’s not a protest it’s a walk Ts…. They at least saying all the right things and of course still getting stick from uneducated blinkered idiots it seems…. Amazing how people who jump on the bandwagon support the club for a few years think that any kind of fan that questions the club is someone who should go support someone else…! pathetic really. most were just out of nappies when Arsene joined the club it seems.

  21. Micko says:

Tsgh, he’s too old, he went right downhill after the 1982 WC Final.

Sube 10.47, we all know Walcott’s off and we’re not gonna replace him, just get a load of speil instead.

Wath, I can see Sagna getting an extension, he’s a model pro, just depends on whether its a 1 or 2 year deal that could see it sway one way or the other, it’s a no brainer for me, I know what I’d do.

  22. Micko says:

I’m beginning to understand Diaby’s mentality, he probably thinks he deserves the Ballon d’ Or for just getting out of bed in the morning.
You need to be more patient Wath, him and Rosicky are gonna turn our season around, did you see how well he played against Liverpool in September, he’s quality.

  23. W.A.T.H says:

Agreed Micko, no way would I let Sagna go but you know the way our lot operate…! Profits over quality players rulz…!

  24. Will XL says:

Hi everyone. Sagna deserves more. Not many have been as consistent and reliable as he has. And if Theo really wants to stay, that 85k will be good enough. If he performs as well as he thinks he can, he’ll always have better offers. So no worries there.

  25. allezkev says:

    Charlie Austin, £1.5 million.

    Yep, right up Kroenke’s street.
That’ll leave plenty that he can siphon off for his crap American franchaises…

  26. allezkev says:

    Afternoon Rico.

    Another International Friendly.
Hmm, just what I was looking forward too.

Wonder how many of our players can get wrecked by International managers in pointless games this time…???

    The suspense is killing me…….

  27. rico says:

    Great news about Tomas emma..

Hi Kev, I didn’t realise we had another now, thought that was it until new year – what is the point for friendlies….

  28. stevepalmer1 says:

    Afternoon all.
    nice one Rico.

    Trouble at Mill.
Walcott offered a rise of 15 grand a week while Sagna struggles on 60 grand a week, You couldnt make it up could you.
Sagna has been a model proffesional he seems to have been with us forever and he’s on 60 grand a week while Arshaven who is on much more sits on the bench, reports have it that Podolski is on 90 grand and its his first season. Sagna Pissed i’m not suprised. Althou i feel that the players earn inflated wages it still makes me smile. Whenyou want the moral of the team high Wenger and his cronies find a way to upset the apple cart. Now put yourself in that position and you are seeing mistakes all over the park and you see players 0n 20 30 grand a week more than you and many are not worth it.

  29. rico says:

    And Fabianski emma 😉

Thanks Steve and afternoon to you,,

Sanga – right age, right experience, right injuries, about to request a pay rise…. to be sold off.

Jenks has showed he’s good enough, Yennaris is coming through so forgive me for being cynical, but I guess he’ll be following RvP and Song…

  30. allezkev says:

Rico, it’s all about revenue raising.
Tbh, who gives a monkeys about England vs Sweden???

Carzorla is off to South America with Spain.
    El Loco

Emma, that’s great news. TR07 back for the Scum perhaps?

Hi Sir Steve. How’s the decorating going?

  31. stevepalmer1 says:

Don’t realy know Rico but he does try, Hi AK not too bad mate just finished one that took me 3 weeks but i intend to do a you and have a bit of free time before the next one, the way the footballs going i might just have a bit of fishing 🙂

  32. rico says:

I know kev, bloomin joke. What makes me laugh is Roy will play a young squad in the game, most of whom will not be selected for the proper games so what is the point….

  33. tsGH says:

Ha ha ha I thought that was the common factor with Ormonde-Ottewill, Meade and TW14. I could hear your heart pounding when Meade took his top off at Reading. 😀

My bad you are just a lady cougar. 🙂

  34. tsGH says:

Interesting re the comment at 12:35 pm. Whatever it is we have to make the suits know its going to be a dark winter if they dont make the right noise. 😡

  35. tsGH says:

It could be a ploy to ensure he is not called up by France Rico. The cockerels record is worse than ours without Abu Doha in their squad. The french seem to need him more than we do.

  36. Marinello says:

    Afternoon all,
With regards Diaby, 7 weeks out seems a long time for a dead leg.
Only my opinion, but Djourou looks like he has suffered a dead head… The eyes seem very crossed.

  37. JW says:

    Good afternoon all,

It’s really sad about Sagna and now Inter Milan are believed to be ready to bid for him in the summer, meanwhile we are interested in PSV’s eighteen year old left back, why can’t Wenger sign a genuine, experienced, good at defending, left back like Leighton Baines.

  38. allezkev says:

Nice one Emma, your all good news today gal, keep up the good work…

Fishing sounds good to me Sir Steve.
Just cut yourself off from all the crap mate.

Ginge, Rico is just a pussycat mate…

Rico, International football is total rubbish.
It’s not for us. It so all those ponces on all the World’s FA’s can have a party every few weeks.
    All on us of course.
I fcuking hate the lot of ’em…
    Parasites all…!

  39. Marinello says:

JW, I suppose Diaby has his own treatment table now, you know, one with a memory mattress that remembers your body posture etc. Can’t be any fun though, going to London Colney every day, have treatment, but not be able to join in with your mates, kicking a ball about on the training ground, oh yeh and pick up £60k a week.

  40. tsGH says:

    How are ya JW?

Re 1:06 pm, Micko stop making excuses, you promised! Next you are going to tell me Coka is good for your health. And whilst you are in Colombia put a bid in for Carlos Valderrama to take over from Szecz.

  41. BigSanty says:

We should realise by now that we never sign players that we are linked with for ages… ie. Hazard, Mata, M’vila — for some reason AFC’s scouting department has become the defacto scouting department for the Spuds, for the Scousers (Red and Blue) the Chavs and the Manchester clubs (Red and Blue). I’m surprised that the club hasn’t tried to negotiate a “finders fee” for all the above mentioned… Did anybody else read the article from goal.com where Wenger takes the credit for Park playing well for Celta Vigo this season? What’s that all about?!? Honestly the man has no shame in taking credit for when he doesn’t deserve it and deflecting blame when he should man up and take it. The sooner he goes the better for our club.PS. I note that Wenger’s come out and said he wants Theo to stay. There it is then. He’s going for sure now. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is sold the last day of the January transfer window so we don’t have the time to sign a replacement… so that they can bank the cheque… the same s*** every year.

  42. allezkev says:

What’s the point of signing some 18 year old wonder-boy?

Might as well blood some of our own youngsters or try and sign some youngsters from the lower division’s, a la Jenkinson.
At least you’ll possibly get more loyalty from kids who want to play for Arsenal, instead of wanting to play for Arsene, knowing that he’ll develop them, and having one eye on a move elsewhere.

  43. BigSanty says:

Ou are right Allezkev… Totaally tired of AW and his antics on us the fans. When will they learn to respect †he fans???

  44. BigSanty says:

You are right Allezkev… Totaally tired of AW and his antics on us the fans. When will they learn to respect †he fans???

  45. Marinello says:

I agree Kev, there are some good youngsters plying their trade in the lower leagues, some who were late developers at Prem clubs, have been let go, and are now coming into their own. I watched Paul Ince’s son the other week, he looks a great prospect. And I agree, to play for Arsenal is still a dream for most British kids, at lower league clubs.

  46. JW says:

    tsGH,

I’m doing pretty well thanks, back to driving and making a good recovery according to all the tests.

Wish I could say the same for the (not so) Glorious Gunners.

  47. emma says:

BS – true words about mata, hazard. They could have being gunners today if not for the greedy board that refuse to sanction their purchase just b/s they were a few millions above our bidding price 🙁

  48. tsGH says:

Dont worry Sir JW, forget about these lucky freeloaders. Make sure you get well for the family and grand-kids. I want all the deadworks/wasps to have nightmares about their money getting stolen from them by other free-loaders. 😡

  49. allezkev says:

Santy & Marinello, Ferguson does it all the time.
Powell from Crewe looks another good lad he’s snaffled up.

Look beyond the technique. Good coaching can smooth out those rough edges.
Hunger, desire, detirmination to keep going even when things go against the team, all qualities that quite a few of our artisans could do with a bit more…

  50. JW says:

    AK,

The difference is old red nose keeps the players he wants, we sell the good ones and keep too much of the dross.

  51. lolly says:

    Chelsea player wages:
    Eden Hazard – £185,000
    Fernando Torres – £175,000
    John Terry – £175,000
    Frank Lampard – £140,000
    Ashley Cole – £120,000
    Petr Cech – £100,000
    Gary Cahill – £80,000
    David Luiz – £75,000
    John Obi Mikel – £75,000
    Juan Mata – £67,000
    Daniel Sturridge – £60,000
    Ramires – £55,000
    Oscar – £40,000
    Paulo Ferreira – £40,000
    Ryan Bertrand – £40,000
    Marko Marin – £35,000
    Cesar Azpilicueta – £30,000
    Victor Moses – £30,000
    Branislav Ivanovic – £28,500
    Ross Turnbull – £17,000
    Oriol Romeu – £15,000

  52. rico says:

Mata, £67,000 lolly, crikey, we would have paid him more than that!

    And Oscar, £40,000??

I am stunned by some of those figures…

  53. Joaquim Moreira says:

    u21 1-2 versus WH.
On September was 4-1 for WH again.
Our bet is on youth, right?
    Squill was the central back.
    Szesc played all the match

  54. rico says:

That just confirms all that we have been saying, we either have to play Podolski or TW up front and go 442 and start taking our chances….

  55. rico says:

Looks like Chelsea are getting their house in order, they have finally announced a profit in takings for the first time since Roman took over….

  56. rico says:

I’m heading off for the night, have a good Friday all, or Saturday for Scott….

Catch you all in a few hours..

    Night all….

  57. smudge says:

A little bit of Rosicky over the next few weeks is what we need to bring back Zip in our displays. Get the rest of the team ‘on a high’ so to speak

  58. Scott from Oz says:

I am off to a wedding today!!
But,in much brighter news,it seems i will be coming The Emirates in September next year…..finger crossed, but it is looking very good.
    Catch you all later.

  59. allezkev says:

Who needs Top of the Pops, we got Smudge….

Socks Rico, is that true???? 🙂 🙂

Mick, you know me too well.
    Tonight, was razzle night. 😉

  60. allezkev says:

The food in Tayyabs was very good yesterday evening…
    Adam, Lee, Rocky… 😉

Oxlade-Chamberlain & Gibbs could be available for the Scummers then?!

Maybe our luck is turning again???
