Cazorla suffers problem in training. Villa deal takes a turn for the worse & beware of the wounded….

Morning all,

A ‘light’ post this morning, well the start of it…..

Just what is Santi up to and why is David Beckham laughing so much?

Wouldn’t you love to know?

What is it?
I can’t find it Becks..!

Whatever his problem, it didn’t go away!

It's still there, whatever it is....
It’s there, I know it is, it’s just tiny like me….

And nor will the rest of the problems go away by the sound of it.

According to reports, we are going to have one last try at signing David Villa and that’s it. Well I wouldn’t bother personally, not if it’s true that Manchester City now want him to replace Balotelli. We can’t compete with them for wages and at his age, I suspect Villa wants a bumper salary.

Oh well, the dream was nice while it lasted!

If Walcott had left, everybody would have said, ‘You lost a top striker.’

“Giroud is getting there, I believe. He has started 11 Premier League games and scored eight goals. In all competitions he has 14 goals. Overall, he is slowly getting there.

“If you look at the Africa Cup of Nations, the best striker is Gervinho and after [him] we have one or two good young players who will get a chance.

Then Podolski! I forgot Podolski, who we bought to play as a central striker, so we have quality strikers.

Walcott has been with us a long time now and after a handful of games playing centrally, Wenger suggests he’s considered to be a top striker. He says he signed Podolski to play to play as a striker too, so why has he been sticking him out wide on the left and watch his struggle?

Gervinho, well it will take me and suspect most fans more than a goal or two at the ACON’s to convince he is a quality striker.

Anyway, let’s hope the three we do have right now find the back of the net tonight, we need a win, for no other reason than we all want to see an Arsenal side win. Top four, well what will be will be and if we don’t get there in May, then blame Kroenke and his cronies below him, including Wenger.

Thomas Vermaelen is fit for selection tonight so he should slot straight back into the side, Coquelin, Arteta and Fabianski remain on the sidelines although the latter is ready for a couple of matches for the reserves now..

Whisper it, but Diaby is still fit too……

Wenger needs to get his team focused for tonight, Liverpool will still be seething from their FA Cup exit and of course from earlier in the season when we beat them at Anfield.

I’ll end on some positive news, the club have announced that they won’t be increasing tickets prices next season.

I’m surprised they didn’t keep that bit of news up their sleeve, or maybe it’s an attempt to appease fans for no transfers this month…

If so, it won’t work!

Have a good day all….

Morning Rico. As soon as I saw the picture captions I knew it was one of yours. 🙂
You’ll be posting that rowers pic again soon I should imagine.
Funnily enough, I think we will make a signing. 🙂

  2. rico says:

Lee – you are far too negative these days, you must be getting ready for your night out with Adam 😉

Welcome to those joining, we needed something lighthearted….

  3. Wavy says:

Surely the big announcement tonight will be that Arsenal are to play Indonesia on July 14th!

Better than a signing more filthy lucre for the mammon chest. A new syrup jar for our absent friend! But no other new signings this tme.

  4. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Hiya Adam ……

“Arsenal defender Sebastien Squillaci could be on his way to Brighton. The Championship side are keen on a loan deal for the 32-year-old whose contract expires in the summer. Bastia were said to be keen along with Marseille, Nice, Monaco, and Ajaccio but his £45,000-a-week salary has proved a barrier and he could be on his way to the south coast in a deal subsidised by Arsenal.”

Did you know that anal sex is still illegal in Iceland? Not sure if it’s the same in Farmfoods so be careful…..

  6. Orphal Mandy says:

Whichever you look at it, even world stars like Messi or Ronaldo will always treasure their clubs to sign reinforcements just to boost the competitiveness of the squad. Which explains why ambitious managers often seek to elicit the support of their senior squad members over their prospective signings. Arsenal players remain docile and taciturn. They seem to care less about new signings. Barcelona as loaded as the club is, whenever their manager is pursuing a new signing, the senior players come out to encourage the player. Wayne Rooney, Giggs and Ferdinand did so when Man U were courting RVP. Why do Arsenal players keep mute and care less about what their manager does when they know they are injury prone. No Arsenal player gets injured and comes back within one month. So, why don’t they encourage AW to improve the squad and play the players in their natural roles, instead of shuffling them to roles they are not gifted. This is responsible for Ramsey’s weak performance, playing him in his unnatural role. Please go and strengthen your team now. Stop this frugal behaviour. Perhaps, Arsenal will learn their lesson when they fail to qualify even outside the Europa league.

  7. Adam says:

SYG. Yet more tunnel connections. I saw Michael Portillo the other evening being shown around the tunnelling machine for the Crossrail project. It’s about the length 17 buses I think and has an on board kitchen and mini railway itself that helps transfer the rubble. Do you know the machine? A truly incredible thing.

  8. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Change in betting on sky……..
David Villa to sign before 1st February 2013
    Manchester City 5/4
    Arsenal 5/1

Edinson Cavani – now Arsenal are out to 16/1

Marouane Fellaini – now Arsenal are out to 12/1

    —————

According to the bookies our best hope is signing Beckam at 7/2 or the ex-Wigam mercenary Diame at 5/4

  9. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hiya Adam – Last time I saw Michael Portillo was at a cagefighting event in Nottingham… I think he was there doing some kind of TV show…

The machine? Is that the Herrenknecht? They advertise with us… A German company that have a UK office in Sunderland – really nice people ….

  10. ozgunner10 says:

i just fail to understand it – we know impressive signings are needed for all sorts of reasons not least of which is our slide out of the top 4 now being a real possibility – Wenger gives it big before every bloody window filling us with belief he has got the situation covered. Why our we panicking 2 days before close, what sort of business men are this lot for christ sake

  11. Adam says:

Hiya SYG. I understand that Portillo was a brutal cage fighter in his younger days. Do you like that stuff then?
Can’t remember the name of the machine I’m afraid but it was mightily impressive. Inserted Pre-formed concrete sections as it went.

  12. Adam says:

SYG. You must have seen Jordan’s ex Alex Reid pounding people senseless then. I prefer him as his alter ego Roxanne myself.

  13. rockyrocastle07 says:

Morning all.. So its confirmed…. The best striker at the waste of time ACON’s, Gerboue, will be like a new signing for us when he comes back. Great stuff. Can’t wait to see him marauding cluelessly down the wings again.

  14. rockyrocastle07 says:

Why the fuck did we not just take a chance on Lewis Holtby. £1.5 million is hardly breaking the bank.

  15. rockyrocastle07 says:

Adam… You like seeing Alex Reid as Roxanne being pounded senseless?! Wow… some video that must be!

  16. rockyrocastle07 says:

Rico – you have been warned by Remy that you must never, on your own site, post something that clearly upsets him ever again. Please refrain and desist form such silliness.

  17. rico says:

Morning Rocky, I couldn’t believe the Gervinho comment from AW either…

And yes, I have taken on board the early comment and have severely chastised myself…..

  18. southyorkshiregunner says:

Rocky, Gervais …… ha ha… Rocky Gervais ….. cool

Rocky, Wenger says Gervais the BEST striker at the ACON……

What does that actually mean? Gervais is brilliant? or all the other strikers there in the ACON are shite or playing shite?
I would like to think the former, but it’s most possibly the latter ….

The natural raw skill is there – it’s a shame all he’s good for is thirty step overs per game, losing the ball and flashing his choppers when he does ….

  19. rico says:

But in France he was meant to be the bees knees, what has happened to him since he’s been with us goodness only knows….

  20. rockyrocastle07 says:

SYG – He MUST mean that the others are absolute gash. Or maybe he meant that Gerboue was the best striker out of all of them to always pick the wrong option, had no end product and always craps his pants when in a one on one situation? Maybe… Just maybe…

  21. True Gooner says:

The English media needs to stop making us the bad guy because of ticket prices and go after the real bad guys, those team who inflate the markey by spending money they have not made.

  22. southyorkshiregunner says:

Rico in France Hazard was the Bees Knees… Wenger knew that … The difference was in the value ….

…Chelsea bought fillet steak and we got the fcukng horse burger

Could it be the fans who players every sinlge smallest mistake?

  24. Lee says:

Arsenal Football Club has announced that the head of its world renowned youth academy, Liam Brady, has decided to leave his current role by May 2014 after 25 years with the Club.

Brady, 56, a former Republic of Ireland International midfielder who starred for the Gunners in the 1970s, has established Arsenal’s academy as one of the leaders in the game over the past 17 years. He has now given early notification of his desire to leave his role in order to help recruit a successor and ensure an orderly handover period.

Brady had a glittering playing career, starring for Arsenal in the 1970s before moving to Italy, where he enjoyed spells with Juventus, Sampdoria, Inter Milan and Ascoli. He finished his playing career with West Ham United. He also had spells as a manager with Celtic and Brighton and Hove Albion, and more recently assistant manager with the Republic of Ireland.

During his time as Arsenal’s head of youth development and the academy, he has been responsible for developing numerous professional players including Jack Wilshere and Kieran Gibbs. The Club will be discussing potential roles with Brady to ensure he stays involved.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis said: “Liam has a deep understanding of what it takes to discover and develop a talented youngster into someone who can perform at the highest level. He has made a massive contribution to Arsenal Football Club. It will be difficult to find a worthy successor but we will be looking for someone who can build on what Liam and his team have created.”

  25. ozgunner10 says:

Lovely guy Liam and was very supportive of our move to establish the Arsenal Youth Academy here in the west – sad to see him go

  26. wise man says:

i pray we should win these 9t match oooo. And we still need replacement 4 sagna also. So help us beg arsenal maneger.

  27. rico says:

But Hazard praised Gerv too Syg, and suggested he was one of the best. But yes, Hazard was the one we needed, and all wanted….

TG, most of his mistakes are hardly small, there has been sitters he has missed that have cost us dear. One I believe would have secured our place in the CO Cup….

  28. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hazard is his mate, Rico. He’s hardly likely to bad-mouth him. As re: he’s the best?? I don’t know how true that is..
As I said, the natural skill and raw talent is there ….He just needs an on-board computer to make it work i.e brain

  29. rockyrocastle07 says:

TG – He has been awful for us. I can’t remember a single match where he has been great. And lets not forget our Dear Leader said that he only wants signings that improve us. Gerboue signing for us did NOT improve us. I’d take Podolski over him any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

  30. rockyrocastle07 says:

There’s a witty (semi-offensive) remark that could be said in response to your comment…. But I’ll refrain, for the good of the forum!!

  31. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Lee says:
    January 30, 2013 at 11:24 am

Liam Brady walked out on the club in 1980 and all we got was £600,000. We struggled for years after that.

  32. rico says:

Wonder how much the club do to help him Syg, we have a few with raw talent that don’t seem to make too many steps forward.

And then we sell them, especially went they are younger, Lansbury springs to mind and I’m convinced Frimpong is set to follow soon…

  33. ozgunner10 says:

agree Rico – the statement ‘world renowned youth academy’ seemed a bit over the top to me 🙂 What has it produced of our own, 2 players for the first team?

  34. southyorkshiregunner says:

Nice one Rocky … no Jimmy Saville type comments on here … ever… Rico WILL bitch you out about it lol !!!

It’s weird what can happen in a few months ….

…When the news of his death came I was as upset as anyone … My mate who’s one of the most brutal blokes you could meet even wrote him a letter to “Fix it”..

He was part of our Saturdays …… Football Focus & On the Ball – Dickie Davies with his ITV Seven and Wrestling or Frank Bough on BBC- The vidi-printer – the BBC footy scores – Basil Brush – Jim’ll Fix it – Generation Game – Mike Yarwood – Two Ronnies –

  35. Remy says:

Haha sorry guys I awoke with sleep in my eyes to chiteh in for villa and cazorla injured. I hold my hands up. Backlash truly deserved!

  36. ozgunner10 says:

just doing some quick sums we have made give or take over 40m in profits from transfers alone in the last 4 seasons – interestingly United only have a net spend of just over 20m – what a difference ploughing lost stars money back into the team makes hey?

  37. rockyrocastle07 says:

It was Rico…. SOrry! I did show refrain though!! If this was curry club, it would have been said without a moments hesitation!

SYG – sort of….! Not JS though. Me and my mate were saying for years (long before the Louis Theroux documentary) that there was something weird about Saville and it wouldn’t be long before something came out. Took a lot longer than we imagined, but we didn’t believe it would be to the extent that it has!

  38. rockyrocastle07 says:

No probs Remy! Glad you stuck around and took the backlash… Many would have just sulked and got stroppy. Credit where credit’s deserved!

  39. southyorkshiregunner says:

I liked Henri Lansbury. How ever he got overlooked during the Denilson -Song-Eboue-Diaby phase I will never know.

I have a mate who was on Barnsley FC’s books whem Machin and Allan Clarke were the manager …. Eric Winstanley was the coach… He used to moan and groan about how Winstanley used to favour the mediocre yes-men over the talented lads … Nicky Eaden was one of them ….. Eric Winstanley knew Eaden’s family (mum) well … My mate said it was tragic how he kept on getting the nod over better players …

  40. rockyrocastle07 says:

I know Rico… others may have found offence to me talking about our Deal Leader in such a way though….!

  41. rico says:

So did I Syg, he was one of my favs….

He’s on loan Oz, we will apply for a Visa again in the summer I think….

I think Frank Bough just liked sex Rocky …. nothing deviant about that …!!!

As for JS – a lass who was our ex-neighbour anf friend always maintained that when he died all sorts would come out about him …. she wasn’t wrong….

  43. rockyrocastle07 says:

Its only a matter of time before Aneke, Afobe, Tennaris etc all leave as they won’t get cames. Is Eastmond still at Arsenal? If so, time to move on son. You won’t get a game. We hear so much about the youngsters that are promising, which come to nothing. How long before Miyaichi goes too?

  44. rockyrocastle07 says:

Not just sex SYG…. he loved getting all hot and heavy, all dressed up in leather with a load of brasses!

  45. southyorkshiregunner says:

at 12:09 pm – that’s great news Rico …. Maybe he’ll look to the real deal now …. We all know you want Stephen Capoue signed …. maybe we could beat the Shepherd’s Bush lot to his signature?

  46. eastsidepaul says:

I see QPR want Capoue.. While we sit around fiddling our thumbs..Rocky the only way I know that Eastmond is still at Arsenal is due to him tweeting his exercise regime.. Another treatment table warrior.

  47. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Really, Rocky?
I’m assuming you mean like the “Gimp” in “Pulp Fiction” and not like Al Pacino in Serpico ….

  48. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hiya ESP. You’ve just missed the fact that we’ve lost out to Diame and are now looking at Frank Bough to fill the huge void in our defence …

  49. potter says:

Denilson -Song-Eboue-Diaby , all cost money and got played in front of homegrown players. I heard some time ago that the relationship between Brady and the club was not happy due to the academy kids not getting the same chances.

  50. rockyrocastle07 says:

Frank Bough would fill that huge void with a not-so-carefully placed 12 inch rubber dong I’d imagine, SYG. Still, I’d rather that than Kozzer at the nmoment…..

Oh, and definitely NOT like Pacino in Serpico!

  51. rockyrocastle07 says:

Feel like it at the mo SYG… Got a Deep Heat back patch on the base of my spine at the moment which is making me so hot its ridiculous!

  52. SD London says:

Who knows what would have happened if Arsenal had offered Barcelona £15Mil, to shut the Barca President up , like 3 weeks ago for Villa? Maybe he would have moved 2 weeks a go , registered his wife in London hospital , could have given birth been born in England and so on and still available for the Liverpool match.

Now Man City might be interested and they will offer Villa £194k(my guess) and pay Barcelona £17Mil.

Wenger missed out on Zaha as well , all his talk about never , never was a lie. Wenger got outsmarted by Fergie.

Doesn’t Wenger get tired of been out played by managers, even Alan Padew of Newcastle.

  53. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Movement in betting

Edison Cavani is 5/1 to join Arsenal – BetVictor … same odds as Beckham – and he’s training at Colney and is FREE

  54. potter says:

I genuinely believe that the structure of releasing funds is in the hands of people that are not quick at reacting. I think we go in with a price but whoever is negotiating doesn’t have an upper parameter to go to should the offer fail and they have to go back to the board for permission to make another offer.

  55. W.A.T.H says:

Afternoon all, If we were serious about a striker then go lump 30mil on Suarez…! Prem lge proven and would score a bucket load for us. The fact that we could of shown intent and gone and got Sissoko or Capoue and Fellaini would of shown ambition not only to the fans but to the other players at the club. It would of shown the Board see our weaknesses and have decided at long last to address them BUT no…. wishful thinking lets just carry on with our heads in the sand and talk up what we have……

It stinks of negligence and if they were in the corporate world they would of been fired ages ago.

  56. rico says:

I have a feeling you will be right about Miyaichi Rocky, and a few of the others, especially if AW stays.

But surely if Kroenke isn’t releasing any money then the only way we will have a full squad eventually will be with those coming through…

  57. southyorkshiregunner says:

Totally right WATH re showing intent to not just the fans, but the players too… and yeah, buy Suarez. A nasty, spiky PL proven player who would do anything to get 3 points.

  58. potter says:

As you only get one diamond in a batch the chances are that by relying on those coming through and patching in with cheaper imports the quality will go down because as you gain one you will lose one and the one that goes will be the good one.

  59. ozgunner10 says:

i smiled at a recent Walcott statement and it kinda says it all about Arsenal really – “the trouble is we don’t realise just how good we are” OMG! I wonder where he’s heard that crap

  60. SD London says:

SYG, I think Zaha made a wrong move, he is not going to get a chance in Manure Utd.

Fergie is going to panic again and will buy another winger from Europe.

Welbeck , with all his promises last season , Fergie still went on to buy RVP.Welbeck is now warming the bench.

Wenger would have managed Zaha very well but the dude made his choice.

I dont care if we dont buy Villa but if he eventually goes to Man Shity, this will really put a downer on fans which will eventually make then impatience that if Giroud should miss a plain sight goal and we loose the mach then Wenger will once again be targeted.

The best we can hope for is Diame because that is the one Wenger is not talking about.

  61. southyorkshiregunner says:

    A TRULY AMAZING FACTOID

EVERYTIME Arsenal have beaten Liverpool 2-0 at Anfield … something good seems to happen to the club ……. EVERYTIME.

In 1928 We beat them 6-3 in the return fixture at Highbury and Tottenham got relegated

In 1934 we beat them 8-1 in the return fixture at Highbury and we WON the league … Oh and Tottenham got relegated … again

In 1935 we beat them in the FA cup by that score and went on to WIN it.

In 1973 we beat them 2-0 at Anfield went top of the league after Alan Ball (pen) and Radford had run hallf the length of the muddy pitch and rounded Clemence and scored …

In 1989 we WON the league after goals from Smith and Thomas – our first for 18 years

In 1992 we WON the cup double beating Sheff Wednesday on both occassions 2-1.

  62. Will XL says:

“I dont care if we dont buy Villa but if he eventually goes to Man Shity, this will really put a downer on fans which will eventually make then impatience that if Giroud should miss a plain sight goal and we loose the mach then Wenger will once again be targeted.”

Yup… I can definitely see that happening SD.

  63. southyorkshiregunner says:

I keep on telling you Rico – History as a tendancy to always repeat itself…. We’ll probably get a bit of 1973 tonight as opposed to any of the others !!!!!

Long before the internet I wrote to Bob Wilson and credit to him – he wrote back – and asked why we never made the UEFA Cup in 1973-74 after throwing away the league in 72/73 and coming runners-up 3 points behind the champions Liverpool after beating them 2-0 at Anfield just over two months earlier …
He said that in those days it was one club per city in the UEFA Cup and Spurs had done Norwich 1-0 in the League Cup so they took preference …..

  64. rockyrocastle07 says:

Rico – Gus Cesar?! Is he playing again?! I’d take him right now over Sagna!

I guess you were kidding about Danny Graham!!

  65. rico says:

That was rumoured a few weeks back too about Jenks… Think we’d be crazy to let him go out on loan.

Pullis is also about to sign Brek Shea, the American we had on trial last Jan….

  66. rockyrocastle07 says:

There’s only one thing I enjoy about watching the deadline day action on Sky Sports…. The chance to watch hours of the wonderful Natalie Sawyer. mmmmmmmmmmm. Well worth putting up with that gobshite Jim White!

  67. rico says:

Ha ha Rocky, Qpr keeper, he’s a top keeper…

Graham, well he managed to score against our top quality defence a few times this season…

But yes, was slightly tongue in cheek….

  68. allezkev says:

I never imagined that I would think this, but I am beginning to come around to the view, that I hope Arsenal don’t make the top-four, and not just this season, but for maybe 2 or 3.
    Nothing will change otherwise…

  69. Scott from Oz says:

    Kev, how goes it mate?
The question i have is if we miss top 4, will Stan feel the need to invest, or to cut spending even further?
    I have my doubts.

  70. rockyrocastle07 says:

Ahhh Kev! We should never be thinking those thoughts mate! As much as it may kick-start something, I still want us to finish as high as possible. Lets face it, our Dear Leader will only have 1 more season after this….. I’m prepared to see it through another season of average at best until we get someone new.

  71. allezkev says:

As far as not being in the Champions League affecting Arsenal’s ability to sign top top players is concerned?!

Well Arsenal don’t sign top top players anyway.
In fact they don’t even sign ordinary players…

The only person it would hurt, is the Syrup.

  72. rockyrocastle07 says:

That’s if they are all still around then Adam. I live in hope they’ll all be fucked off one way or another.

  73. rockyrocastle07 says:

I think he will Scott. Maybe not leave the club, but he won’t be the manager anymore. I really think he’s had enough now, but is doing his “I always honour my contracts” thing. Which these days, is pretty rare, and something you have to give him credit for. Unless he knows he’ll never have the free run of another club like he does here!

  74. Adam says:

Rocky. They will milk the cash cow until it’s dry. It’s gonna be the fans who let them know that they are not wanted.

  75. Scott from Oz says:

Kev, we got Santi and Podolski……not much wrong there 🙂
On my way home from a massive night in Australian boxing.
I will be home in an hour, off to bed, 4 1/2 bours sleep, then the mighty Arsenal are on.
    Love it!!
Oh, and the good guy won a unanimous points decision?!

  76. allezkev says:

    Hi Scott…

Rocky, usually I would agree, but nothing is gonna change otherwise.

Adam, the Europa League will be a blast.
Looking forward to all of us visiting Odessa, to see the Glorious Gunners take on Lokomotiv Gulag…

  77. Scott from Oz says:

Rocky, i think he will also, but who bloody knows?
I thought it was a certaonty he’d get some players in this month, despite his history, but alas, wrong again.

  78. rico says:

But what happens if Sagna gets injured Rocky, otherwise I’d agree big time. Unless of course Yenarris fills in…

    Hi Scott…

  79. Adam says:

The teat will be withered then Rocky. There will be division between the fans in the stadium both pro and anti Wenger. The problem is that even those who are anti aren’t really. They are just anti what is going on. Eventually it will start to affect the team and their already inconsistent results and this will draw the world’s media to the club every day. The pressure will be enormous but we can see that, unless something gives, then nothing is going to change. Whether. Wenger is around or not, something will have to change otherwise there will be protests at every game. People, who can still bothered, are talking openly about it now. Some have just walked away quietly believing that it’s all just the way modern football is. Where big money is concerned and especially American businessmen with no sense of the club and what it means are concerned you will most likely not get change without fan power.

  80. rockyrocastle07 says:

    Still have Yennaris Rico!

Kev. Fair enough. I know what you mean, but I can’t want us to finish below the spuds! And lets face it, they will finish no lower than 5th.

True Scott. Wenger never does the right thing usually….

  81. Wavy says:

If jenkinson goes to Stoke then I’m a dutchman!

Have you seen the source Metro! Do I need to say more? Journos eh?

  82. rockyrocastle07 says:

Maybe so Adam. I’m sure we will be ok for another couple of years. I think Stan will go, taking Gazides with him. Fan power will no doubt help that happen. But where is it at the moment? People go on about marches to “show them what we think”. Then only a couple of hundred bother to turn out for it. If you were Stan, and 200 out of a possible 60,000 did that, you would think the same as me…. “Fucking idiots. Is that the total of the people that hate me? I must be doing something right”> It’s hardly awe-inspiring! If, and hopefully when, the numbers swell, and become more vocal, something is bound to change. But then again, people wanted Bates out of Chelsea LONG before he went, and there were always protests against him. And nothing changed. Fan -power is a very dangerous thing, and can backfire quite drastically. It just brings dis-harmony if it doesn’t work. And the players are caught in the middle. Which won’t help their poor, fragile little minds

  83. rico says:

But it was in The Sun a while back too Wavy and that paper is always right 😉

And at least he’s back training Rocky….

    Laters…

  84. Adam says:

Rocky. Then the status quo will remain. Bates was some time ago though and if you had felt the atmosphere in the stadium lately you would sense which way the wind is blowing. It even caused Wenger to appeal to the fans to liven up and get behind the team, something that I don’t remember ever happening before. An Arsenal manager complaining about the home support? The fans are saying “show us some ambition and we will support you”. The marches won’t achieve much though, I agree.

  85. rockyrocastle07 says:

Adam, don’t get me wrong, I’m in total agreement, but I just can’t see anything changing for a couple of year. Will that damage the club? Probably. Will fan power change that? Probably not. I just feel we’re fucked wither way, but I still do not want us not getting Champions League football.

  86. rockyrocastle07 says:

And it’s obvious to every single human being on the planet that we need new, quality players… Defenders and midfielders mainly. I think forwards is pretty covered. It’s well documented in every paper that the fans are up in arms. But nothing changes. It’s just frustrating that our Dear Leader has got this way and refuses to budge. I really hope he proves us all wrong tomorrow and pulls a couple of amazing signings out of the bag. But even if he does, why the fuck has he waited til the last day again! But I feel tomorrow night, after we get home from devouring meat, we’ll all be on here or texting/emailing each other in a rage about the lack of action and ambition shown by us again!

  87. Adam says:

Rocky. Yes, I agree. That’s a step too far for me too and yet it would probably be the best for the club in the long-term. With the media interest these days the pressure can be ramped up quite quickly. Already it has aged Wenger about 10 years in the last two seasons. Perhaps the deathly silence and furious texting that pervades most games says enough. All this is why Wenger’s negative stance on improving the squad seems perverse to the point of self destruction to me. Also, I remember himself saying that he would not work the last year of his contract as manager’s that do are really dead men walking as everyone is thinking and planning for what comes next. It’s a tricky one sure enough.

  88. southyorkshiregunner says:

Arsenal have ALWAYS had fickle fans Adam …. Check the attendences in the mid-sixties and mid-seventies …. Under 10,000 in some cases
…A lot of Arsenal fans are either from the deepest darkest corners of the globe so don’t have that “Personal Rivalry and hatred” with other clubs or have grown up following us post 1998 and have never really seen failure … even in our barren last eight years we’ve reached four cup finals – inc. Champs league and have twice been in the running for the league …… It’s hardly failure …

Cast your mind back to 2nd October, 1973

    …..or 26th January 1985 .

…… or 19th October 1975 when Tottenham beat us 2-0 at White Hart Lane and we were bottom of the league ……

That is failure at its most fcukng bleak …..

Back then we could only dream of now ….

I remember being elated when we beat Villa 2-0 at Highbury in 1981 and we won nowt but made 3rd place and the UEFA Cup …… Brian McDermott scored !

  89. southyorkshiregunner says:

Wrong one Rocky – to enjoy the Dentist you’d have to be a masochist….

…Watch Maggie Gyllenhaal in the Secretary ….. dead cool

  90. Adam says:

I know that the fans got Billy Wright the sack SYG but I am talking more about recent years and the current swathe of ST holders. Wenger has had unbelievable support. I know as I have attended virtually every home game during that time and more. The goodwill towards Wenger is still great but you can’t ask people to close their eyes. The club are treading water and what’s the point of that if you are charging the highest prices in the land? Too much just doesn’t add up.

  91. rockyrocastle07 says:

I meant SM SYG, but just couldn’t be arsed to write the whole thing! And I wasn’t sure which it would be out of the 2…. Had a funny feeling you’d know though…. Experience telling there?!

  92. W.A.T.H says:

SYG, failure and expectations are also governed by the Club and how they spin the fans, we pay top dollar to get into the ground, we were made promises by the club that have not been kept and when the side is raped of it’s assets and then the squad filled with mediocrity you can see why even the old uns like us are pissed off. I have seen far worse shit over there than this lot and swore blind I am not going again yet the next week I was over there, WHY because I knew deep down we were crap, the club didn’t raise our expectations by telling us how great we were or what a brilliant side we had, I didn’t get ripped off to walk onto the Clock End and the other thing was as bad as the players were they never ever played like they didn’t care or give 100% for the shirt.

  93. rockyrocastle07 says:

“[But] You need to buy a player who can compete with them for a position in the team. I have to try not to get caught up in that in January. People expect us to buy someone of top quality.

“I have to be strong enough to resist or you have a player for four or five years who will never play a game, just because you bring in an average player who you know at the start is average.

“If I do that, I don’t do my job.”

  94. Adam says:

Rocky. Nobody would understand that better than Arsene Wenger one would imagine. Still a very lame excuse indeed. Identifying AND buying the right players is a huge part of his job and surely our weaknesses have been evident for long enough now?

  95. W.A.T.H says:

Rocky, the problem is Wengers comments one day completely contradict what he said the day before so we all know to basically take no notice of anything he says whether we like what he says or hate what he says, most is not utter nonsense and complete drivel.

  96. rockyrocastle07 says:

Agreed Adam. It seems a strange thing for Wenger to say. He must think we have short memories. He can’t have thought Park/Santos were worthy of a starting berth. And in Parks case, he is doing exactly what Wenger said he wouldn’t be doing his job properly if it happened. Clown.

  97. W.A.T.H says:

Someone should point out to him the very average players he’s bought and how can he make such a comment on only buying quality..?

  98. Adam says:

Looking at it again it is almost as if he is suggesting hat the fans are clamouring for him to bring in average players. We have enough of those surely.

  99. W.A.T.H says:

You’d think so Rocky but is part of his 7million to take all the shit and the flak and to cover up for buying such plums… Surely half those players should just not of been bought in the first place. Talk about can’t get rid but surely the 5/6 knobs would of bought 2 decent players..?

  100. W.A.T.H says:

What he’s doing Adam is talking up the average players we have and making the fans think they better than they are…! Delusional in the extreme…!?!?

  101. Adam says:

Wath. I hear what you say but I can’t believe that is the case. I was speaking to a mate last night who is a huge Gooner but who used to play for Chelsea in the old 1st Division. We grew up together. I gave him my take on it but his was much simpler and less involved. He reckons that whatever Wenger had that was so very good, has gone. “He’s lost it” he said. “I’ve seen it happen before”.
A simple notion, but the evidence does tend to support his view.

  102. Adam says:

Lee. If the Squill goes to Brighton I will have to get the tatoo amended to look like Andre Santos, another very underrated player in my opinion.

  103. W.A.T.H says:

    I won’t disagree Adam….!
Has he lost it or hasn’t he…? that’s a very big question and one that most of us can’t answer as we don’t know we just assume

  104. southyorkshiregunner says:

I know exactly what both you and Adam are saying WATH…

The years of fielding or perservering with Almunia-Denilson-Diaby-Song-Eboue-Bendtner-Djourou did my fcukng head in. I couldn’t understand how a man who had shaped what was a brilliant side between 2002-4 could consider these as Arsenal players …. Chamakh-Park-Squillaci-Santos fall in the same category …..

I could replace eight of our first team squad now with better players

    24 Mannone – Butland
    11 Santos – ?
    20 Djorou – ?
    18 Sqillaci – Jagielka
    2 Diaby – Gourcuff
    22 Coquelin – Capoue
    26 Frimpong – Paulinho
    29 Chamakh – ?

    Being really picky
    21 Fabianski
    27 Gervinho

three of them are “get-able” now

  105. southyorkshiregunner says:

    Adam says:
    January 30, 2013 at 3:15 pm

    THAT’S A LAUREL & HARDY SAYING …. The Laurel & Hardy Murder Case ….

  106. W.A.T.H says:

Lee, My mate is down for the game 2nite, I told him to take his boots he might get a run… He laughed and said cant do much worse can I….! Ur mate would do ok at centre half as well even at his age 😀

  107. W.A.T.H says:

I’d out all of them SYG, maybe keep Coq as a decent squad player, add a few in the reserves who are also now never gonna make it and thats a lot of wages you’ve made available as well.

  108. Adam says:

I think it is Shakespearian in origin SYG. But no doubt Stan and Oliver did use it too. Perhaps Gervinho could incorporate it when he has defenders rolling about with laughter upon his return? As he swings his right boot towards the ball and it deflects it onto his left knee then into his cobblers before causing him to go down in a heap on the goal line he could utter those very words.

  109. agirlagunner says:

Such happy campers in here. 😀

rico, I could tell it was meant to be a funny one. 😛 Shame some people have no sense of humor (Remy). Ha!

  110. W.A.T.H says:

We all know why Gervinho looks so good, he’s found his level… Crap defenders in a pony tournament even make him look decent..!

  111. agirlagunner says:

We drink San Miguel in the Phils, SYG. 😀 I’m still of two minds whether I want to watch. These days…AFC isn’t the thing you want to wake up at 230 am for. 😕

    Hey, Adam and WASH. 🙂

  112. Lee says:

WATH, my mate said that beating a shite hamsters so convincingly was a really bad thing….now you know he bleeds red and white! Sad indictment of what’s happening!

  113. Adam says:

Lee. We could all see the writing on that particular wall couldn’t we?
When people like that make the point they should be heeded.
Reading Wenger’s latest doctrine is really weird. He seems to be saying that people are urging him to buy average players who won’t get a game. This is news to me. I don’t remember a single person saying that he should buy Park do you? Or Santos? etc..I thought he did those deals himself.

  114. agirlagunner says:

San Miguel is a Filipino brand, Adam. People mistake it for a Spanish product though. 😉 Me, I like GG (pink). 🙂

I find myself depressed about the comings and goings in our club. Oh wait, there are no “comings”. Ugh.

  115. W.A.T.H says:

Lee next time my mate down and i get him out on the raz we must organise a meal and get them two together… Could be good fun..!

  116. agirlagunner says:

Butterfingers, WATH. 😛 I know it’s winter where you are, but don’t forget to take a bath. Lol.

  117. southyorkshiregunner says:

There’s a good point made by Adam – “whatever Wenger had that was so very good, has gone – He’s lost it.

    It does happen.

    BRIAN CLOUGH.

An utter genius with the charisma to go with it between 1969-80.

    How did it all end?

  118. Adam says:

Agag. I thought it was Spanish. Mrs Adam likes a San Miguel occasionally but she’s a pink champagne girl really. I have to monitor her intake or she gets very rowdy and confrontational. As a hairdresser I quite like Rose water with lemonade because it has lots of ice and is tall and pink.

  119. W.A.T.H says:

    Great example there SYG, Cloughie…..!!

Sorted Lee, will keep you informed and yep HH curry club night out or afternoon depending on the availability of the two guests..!

  120. agirlagunner says:

Ha ha. Somehow, I cannot imagine you with pink drinks, Adam. How is Ms Adam. Please get her to blog, too. 🙂

I demand that the Curry Club convene when I go there. Ahem. 🙂

Kev, what’s ne with you? 🙂

  121. goonster says:

oh boy, not you too AGAG, its just a bloody business venture! and don’t call her mrs goonie! no way, her name is cassie! sheesh!

  122. allezkev says:

Ah, Euston Road on a crisp, sunny, January afternoon…
Is there anywhere better than this???

Well I suppose the Maldives is quite nice. And St Moritz is decent as well. Whilst Goa is a bit of a go’er…

But i’m an old-fashioned boy, give me Euston Road, as the sun sets over Paddington Basin.

It brings tears to yer eyes…

  123. W.A.T.H says:

I don’t do Curry Rocky, the Thai up the road was much better and you lot were not wrecking the place…!
    😀

  124. Lee says:

AGAG of course you’re invited…there’s talk of Adam hiring a team of wild stallions to drag Rico up to London too!

  125. agirlagunner says:

AK, you should go to El Nido. 🙂

Goonie, tsk tsk. You do realize Cassie has the option to use your surname, don’t you?? Mrs Goonie, it is. 😀 How did you celebrate? And where is the honeymoon?

  126. W.A.T.H says:

Honeymoon…………….. AGAG are you mad……………? She will be lucky if she gets a burger n chips…!

  127. goonster says:

hey adam, how’s it going my friend? how’s mrs A? men home cook meal is the shit. i think i ve added a few pounds since last saturday. sign me up guys, am about to get porky like devilgunner!

  128. W.A.T.H says:

Right I’m off need to see a man about a dog and then off up the pub to watch the game, take care all and enjoy..!

  129. agirlagunner says:

Lee, just tell rico, there would be a buffet of brussel sprouts, parsnips, carrots, and kale. 😀 She’ll be driving herself over!

    WATH 😆

  130. Adam says:

Lee. Wouldn’t that be great? All the HH’ers together. Agag tottering along on 5 inch heels, Rico up from the country with her carrots, Goonster pouting away, blond locks blowing in the wind. Wath insisting that we go to a Thai that caters for veggies for Rico. Kev driving the Coach and leading us in “my Old Man’s A Dustman” and Rock and I pouring the pink drinks oh and Arsene explaining to us why he refuses to buy the average players we are all crying out for. Not to forget SYG negotiating a special rate for our Dartford Tunnel crossing and just about anybody else who cared to turn up.
    I would rather enjoy that.

  131. Adam says:

Oops. I almost forgot that Lee could give us all a player by player assessment, delivered in a style that only Lee can carry off.
    Believe me. 🙂

  132. agirlagunner says:

Sounds like a plan, Adam. 🙂 🙂 Lee, now I grow ever more intrigued about that “speech”. 😀

Goonie, you should take Cassie on a proper honeymoon. She deserves it. She’s putting up with you, after all. 😉

  133. rockyrocastle07 says:

Yeah, we could all sit along one big bench! Sure they do tofu stuff there and other veggie choices!

  134. goonster says:

putting up with me? what in the world?? have you seen her? have you seen me? gosh the tripe i listen to on this blog. putting up with me she says! what part of am a “blonde adonis” dont you get?

  135. Adam says:

Stan. If you posted a wedding pic that would silence everyone who may doubt your animal magnetism to women.
I, for one, am already convinced.
    I have no doubt
When it comes to the pout.

  136. agirlagunner says:

goonie, you’ll be henpecked soon enough. Mark my words. Girls rule!!

When is your next HHCC meeting, gents?

  137. allezkev says:

Oh, my old man’s a dustman,
    He wears a dustman hat,
    He wears Gord Blimey trousers,
And he lives in a Council flat.

    He looks a proper nana,
    In great big hob-nailed boots,
And when he goes to pull them up,
    He calls them Daisy Roots…

    Gord bless ya Adam…..

    Agag, how are you.
    Granny Agag…. 🙂
    The cheek of it.
    I don’t know??? 😀

  138. Joaquim Moreira says:

Close the end of the season we will all listen AW “we have a strong squad for figth for all the titles. judge me at the end”.

  139. allezkev says:

Adam, I wish I was simply winding you up, but nothing would surprise me.
And nothing would give Barca more pleasure…

The Liam Brady announcement is interesting…

    Abandon ship maybe?

  140. tsGH says:

    Evening all…

😀 I have been told by remy to tell Rico of for that headline… ha ha ha… sense of humour ahhh?

So Brady is leaving 2014, Steve Rowley says he is out too… and AW’s contracts ends 2014. You can’t make this up can you?

  141. Wavy says:

When the ship sinks the crew all drown with the captain.

But will the syrup be able to keep his/the lid on it? Or………….

  142. eastsidepaul says:

JM – “judge me at the end”, how many times have we heard that?

So no new signings for a squad which already can’t compete.. There is zero ambition at the club, really sad to see its come to this.

  143. gunnernet says:

    Good evening guns!

    @ Eastsidepaul

Well mate this is a cliche. “Judge me in May”. AW is not a liar. He did’t refer to a specific year.. 🙂

    No line-up yet?

  144. Joaquim Moreira says:

I’m watching English League TV Burley is in the pitch talking about Arsenal problems.
Adams is invite for the program

  145. gunnernet says:

Diaby benched. Real test for Ramsey as a DM. He is in fine form though. I ‘d rather see Arshavin instead of Santos however.

  146. gunnernet says:

Rico our marquee signing will be unveiled at mid Feb. Yes you guessed right.. We are going to sign Africa cup’s best striker!

    COYG!!!!!

  147. rico says:

So late Scott, it might be summer….

    G’net, dreadful isn’t it….

Let’s hope those out tonight start the game as they finished the one against Chelsea….

  148. rico says:

I’m surprised that Diaby is on the bench. Oh, but hang on, if he got injured, Wenger would feel forced to sign a replacement…

If my theory is right, that is shocking!!

  149. gunnernet says:

Jesus Christ!! I firmly believe that we are cursed.. Sagna twice at fault at goal, no comment for TV. Very open game. Arsenal should control it and not panic otherwise we coulbe in serios trouble.. WTF is Schezny doing?? Comical stuff.. When do elephants enter the pitch??

  150. rico says:

See how slow Merts was trying to get back, even i could get back quicker and I have not long eaten….

He just strolled back like he didn’t give a s***e!!

    Santos warming up FECK!!

  151. goonster says:

ESP spending the fucking more is a bit too late now amigo…….we need a total overhaul. starting from the very top! wenger that is.

  152. devilgunner says:

oui lady. Fred Flintstone would play better than Santos. Unless the latter has a rush of blood and scores a hat-trick!!!!

  153. goonster says:

cassie just couldnt understand why a guy who can kick the ball 60 yards cant even hit it in from 6 yards, instead passes!

  154. gunnernet says:

OK woeful first half again. We had the chances the final ball, but bad decision-making especially from Ramsey and Podolski and in one occasion by Walcott. Just shoot the fcking ball if u are in a position to do so! About defence i am again speechless.. HOW THE FUCK are we going to defend against Bayern??

  155. ArsenalDK says:

Hey goonster my man! I am always here, im just not that good at internet debates! Denmark sucks at this time at year, right now im sitting in an english pub, enjoying a pint. How’s you?

  156. rico says:

Just seen their goal again, our defending was gutless.

How many internationals were involved, and Merts. Well I stand by what I said a couple of days ago. He is poor!!

Mind you, TV isn’t much better….

  157. emma says:

You just can’t write this script. Shit in the first half and come out blazing in the second. Szeszney is having one of those days. SANTOS what was wenger thinking. Why not TV5 on the left and kos pair with Mert

  158. rico says:

Spot on re Santi gooner, but how many times have we said that about our players?

They arrive, they shoot, they train and then they only pass…

They are coached to pass and encouraged not to shoot imho…

  159. Joaquim Moreira says:

Gibbs probably out for 3 weeks… hopefully Santos stays in 😉
Ramsey-Wilshere-Cazorla again and look at the score. How many times I must say the same thing?

  160. gunnernet says:

Rico i can’t believe this circus performance is stemming from inability. Sagna was the best RB a couple of years ago, Vermaelen was excellent till he renewed his contract and Mertesacker was our most reliable guy in defence for large part of the season so far. It is clearly psychological. Ramsey though is having a good game. We need a huge classic second half performance now.

  161. rico says:

    In Kroenke we are scrapped….

Wenger is going to be pretty peed off, he should know now that he has to take a risk and bring Diaby on and get Ramsey off!

  162. devilgunner says:

any consolation????………we are just 0-1 down and usually we play better and score in the 2nd half. And we rarely concede. So we should do a lot better. We wait and see.

  163. Lee says:

The last day of the transfer day tomorrow, for clubs with ambition or for Arsenal supporters its Thursday! Fucking joke!

  164. rico says:

    No devil, none..

I feel and share your anger Lee!

Doesn’t make me feel any better goonster, I care about what we are doing more….. much more..

  165. devilgunner says:

And AW said………for you to score tonight first you must do 200 passes before any dipper touches the ball and try to tread it through the eye of a needle, Then you can score,

  166. rico says:

    F*****N Heck!!!

Merts yet again, Santos yet again and gutless from Ramsey!!

Do this board and manager give a S**T???

    I doubt it!!

  167. goonster says:

hhahahahahahahhhhaahahhahahahahahahahaa what a team of clowns! you just cant make this up. hahahahahahahahaahhahaha. 3 players yet he scores!

  168. devilgunner says:

Oh Lord. I cannot believe this.

Even the under 12 would play better than that.

    We will not score tonight

At least Podolskli is giving us a good game.

  169. devilgunner says:

For all of you to know…….Cesc scored in the same minute as Giroud. I am seeing both games at once.

  170. Lewis says:

When are we as fans actually going to stand up and force change? This can’t continue! The board don’t care, they need to go. Sry to say it but Arsene is absolutely clueless and needs to go. Liverpool, after years of being shite are now better than us and They are still an average side. But they do have 1 world class player, which we don’t.

  171. rico says:

Walcott has grown a pair since he signed a new contract. Maybe his performances are because he knows he’s settled…..

He is one of our best sometimes……

And Jack, well, he’s just Jack… Love him…

    COYRRG’S!!!!

  172. goonster says:

gerard is such a thick skinned, muck faced bastard. wish i pull his balls from behind with a pair of pliers!

  173. rico says:

Coronary every time Liverpool attack 🙁 Especially from a dead ball…..

Giroud should have done better then….

    COYRRG’s

  174. rico says:

How the heck did Giroud miss that, that was as simple as the one the Gerv missed!!

    Argggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  175. rico says:

    One thing to say Wenger.

    Sort the feckin defending out!!!!!

Liverpool have history, we have history, we are above them in the league, yet Sky Sports talk about 4th spot and us but not them….

    Wankers!!

  176. eastsidepaul says:

This simply isn’t good enough, two points dropped. Not looking likely we’ll win our 4th place trophy this year.
hate how he can tell us that he is happy with this squad, is anyone happy with a squad where Santos gets minutes on the pitch, he is a disaster.

And when we’re pushing for a win, why not bring Diaby or Rosicky on?

Our defence has to be addressed, are they just subpar defenders, or is it down to the coaching, i’m leaning to the latter.

Wenger’s unwillingness to strengthen the squad is unforgivable.

  177. Gunnerdna says:

Rico it’s 8 yrs now AW trying to sort out our defense and he fails, the only way forward is AW out. How AW can only teach pass and ignore defense, the guy ain’t good, he needs to resign he is to old and dumb.

  178. gunnernet says:

Frustrated despite spirited 2nd half performance. Giroud was great but missed a sitter. Cazorla had disappeared late in the game. We needed fresh injection from the bench, but guess what? Not a change whatsoever. And if Gibbs had’t got injured then no change surely. The lads were tired. In fact i believe that Gerv-mad moment of Giroud was due to tiredness. Ramsey at least could be off. Diaby could have an impact on the game.

  179. gunnernet says:

I suspect that Diaby wasn’t fit enough for this game, yet Wenger named him to the bench. Rosicky should have played as well. Poor managing in my opinion.

  180. stevepalmer1 says:

    Evening all,
    Pittyful absolutely pittyful.
Of course we don’t need anybody, everything is going to plan Wengers plan that is pittyful

  181. rico says:

I know guys, I am not defending them…

Just highlighting that if we had a defence, we’d be a top side…

But we don’t and that’s down to either coaching or personnel.

If we sold Merts and TV tomorrow and replaced them with Mats Hummels and Sakho, I’d be bloody happy…..

  182. gunnernet says:

Allezkev the problem is not our offence. But our defence is shambolic. If Gibbs is sidelined for over 1 month we need a proper left back tomorrow. Santos is woeful defender. Our defencive trio Mert TV and Sagna alongside Sczeny need to pull themselves together. We make childish mistakes..

  183. allezkev says:

Santos at left-back is gonna make it an exciting 3 or 4 weeks…

Anyway, The Europa League will make a change from the boring old Champions League…
Got my flights to Odessa, Vladivostok and Sebastopol booked already.
Not sure about the hotels though. The NKVD Travelodge had me wondering?

  184. rico says:

I’m not convinced that we won’t add one tomorrow….

Anyway, Eastenders calls me, so night all….

Santos really needs to bugger off back to Turkey. Kebabs seem his thing….

    Night all……

  185. allezkev says:

Gunner net, you missed my point mate.
If theo doesn’t score, the pressure and criticism goes up and we might buy.
    Now we won’t…

But tbh, I’m almost past caring…

I feel sorry for Adam. He paid out hard cash to watch that lot..

  186. Gunnerdna says:

They will play the same Rico, AW has become stale at afc, I’m surprised that 60 thousand people still go to ems to support a this dude, it’s unbelievable

  187. gunnernet says:

Talk in Turkey tonight that Fenerbahçe will try for Santos tomorrow. Offer worth listening too. From JS! I wish it was true. I am done as well. See you around gooners.

  188. Scott from Oz says:

Watched the first half only…work called.
Bloody terrible in defence, and forget coaching….no coach can stop some those bloody brain snaps.
What Wenger CAN do is buy some decent defenders.
    Disappointing result.

  189. Joaquim Moreira says:

Why didn’t AW make a replace in the last 10 minutes? He hasn’t any confidence in players on the bench?
AW: we have 2 players for each position… really? he only can say that if we have 2 players with identical performances. Have we?
In the theory every team has the same; the difference is in the quality of subs. when call, the improve and performance of the team the same. Obvously, is not what happens with Arsenal.
Without Gibbs, our left wing is unsecure an unbalanced.
The Europa League? We must be 5th or 6th… nothing more

Great player. A lot of Francs for Arsene
    I think Madrid paid eur.30M for him.. I think…

  191. Will XL says:

I must be the only person who is pleased with how we played. I thought the way we conceded was more unfortunate than poor. Liverpool weren’t allowed to play and we were positive.

  192. southyorkshiregunner says:

In the grand scheme of things – in Aug 2012 I would have taken 4 pts off Liverpool and a 4-2 gd…… Really

    FACTOID here

The only time we beat Liverpool 2-0 at Anfield and drew at our place was in 1973 …..

That year we were robbed of a European place by Tottenham … and not by points …..

History has a tendency to repeat itself ….

  193. Scott from Oz says:

Will, we looked decent going forward, but crap in defence.
This comment is repeated way too often for us to contend for anything other than 4th spot.
    One day, Arsene, one day.
I am keeping the faith, but my resistance is weakening!!

  194. southyorkshiregunner says:

Hiya Adam. Sorry about your night mate. You and the missus deserve better….. I’m knocking off now … I’ll do some Sweeney with John Thaw in 5mins…. My comfort blanket … I have several … Auf Weider, Sopranos, Steptoe and the Likely Lads …. Also When the Boat Comes In …..

  195. Adam says:

Suggestions. Cheers mate. If Wenger was in the army he’d be Court Marshalled for dereliction of duty. This Liverpool team is one of the worst I have seen. A total bunch of wankers. We even made Jordan Henderson look like a player. Very depressing and folks, there’s more to come.

  196. ozgunner10 says:

Wenger really needs to go and spend some money on coaching lessons from Ferguson – he needs to learn all over again what mind set is required to win in this league. “we showed real quality and spirit”????? 2 nil down at home or are we forgetting that bit?

  197. Lewis says:

I know Oz, it almost feels as though they are all on some weird sadistic quest to make us all feel like fucking mugs! To say this team has enough quality to compete is retarded, what did we have on the bench tonight that could go and win us that game once it was 2-2. Nothing, so how the fuck is that a good enough squad to compete?! I’m not spending another penny on AFC until we see some proper investment in the team and all the shit that is carted out week in week out is shifted out of the club. Not just on loan, OUT!

  198. Scott from Oz says:

Guys, watching the weekly round up of goals this season, even the last few seasons, it seems there are very few decent defenders about.
No, we are not good enough, but are We really so bad by comparison….no.
Is the rule changes which are very much tilted towards attacking players now?
Even the sides above us give up disgraceful goals, goals you’d expect kids to defend against.
Players do not suddenly forget how to defend, but with the current rules and the likes of Suarez, Young, Bale and others, defenders are obviously very hesitant to even get close to them.
This doesn’t explain simple mistakes such as failing to make a clearance, positional errors, or does it?
If your mindset is one of anxiety, then it will carry through your every move, every thought and every decision.
Again, i guys are up there with the worst, but there are plenty of possible factors involved.

  199. Lee says:

That’s looking like a done deal Scott..
Anyways it’s the final day of the transfer window for all ambitious clubs looking to add players BUT for us Gooners it’s just another Thursday! (sorry for repeating myself!)
Santos at LB well that’s a disaster waiting to happen! That was a perfect opportunity to close the gap on that shower of shit up the road…

  200. Lee says:

I suppose we had no LBs and no RBs and Wenger did fuck all about it so he’ll continue with that philosophy…..loves a gamble our glorious leader!

  201. tsGH says:

    Morning all,

I admire you Scott, honestly for still being the positive light… 😉

I guess it is an Aussie thingy, that is why about 1 in 4 SAS soldiers are from your patch.

Keep the faith Scott because, being the realist things will definitely get better…

And Ramsey was awesome, but SC19 was useless for 75 minutes of the match but fans still sang his name and diss Sagana for a slip that can happen to anyone. I thought Sagna put in a magnificent shift going for every header and tackle with 100% commitment but hey…

    Have a good day.

  202. ozgunner10 says:

wow how is this for stepping back five years – he lived off this kids excuse for years and here we go again haha

But Wenger backed his young Guns and pointed to a positive future, saying: “This squad is top, top level. We have to learn to trust these players again and to keep faith in them”

  203. Lee says:

‘We will try to be active,’ Wenger said. ‘It won’t be easy but at the moment I have nothing to give to you unfortunately.’

Asked if it was likely to sign defensive reinforcements, he added: ‘Yes. That’s how quickly football changes
‘Three days ago people told me we need strikers. Now, this time, we’re speaking about defenders. We’ll see what we can do.’

The Gunners boss has changed his tune over Arsenal’s attacking options in the last few weeks, and recently said he feels he has enough resources, despite Olivier Giroud being his only recognised striker.

  204. devilgunner says:

Good Morning my Esteemed Fellow Gunners.

I have a hunch that AW will bring in a German defender who plays on the left. I feel it will be one between Dennis Aogo and Konstantin Rausch. Both play the short passing game and play in a similiar style to ours.

  205. devilgunner says:

AW………”I cannot promise you any transfers. We work on it. We want an official extension of the window for one week.”

Again……….We want an official extension of the window for one week.”

    Did I read correctly???

Does he know what he wants???

  206. stevepalmer1 says:

    Morning all,
As far as i’m concerned Wenger has till the end of the day, and if he has not made this current squad stronger he has to go. He has had a month, a month of hit and miss, we all know we need talent which he could have done at the start of the window, and maybe would have given us a few more points on our tally. I realise that many millions could be saved by negotiating in the last few hours but that doesn’t dismiss the points dropped. If we have to stay with who we have till the summer, what he saves in this window will cost in excess of £30million in lost revenue from champions league. will he buy to try and save our place in Europe, i think he has too.
