Morning all.
Chile are through to the Copa America semi-finals after a 1-0 victory over Uruguay. A tasty game by the sounds of it as Cavani and Fucile were both sent off, the latter for a horror challenge on Alexis Sanchez! Qpr ‘reject’ Mauricio Isla grabbed the only goal late on in the game but that was enough…
No such joy for England under 21 side. They were knocked out of their competition by Italy. 3-1 was the final result.
This story touched me…..
A chap called Colin Rodwell was a staunch Bishop Auckland FC fan for over seventy years. He passed away back in January and in his will he left £300, 000 to the football club he had supported for all of his life.
Now his ashes are to be scattered on the pitch – and a stand may be named after him so he is remembered forever at his beloved club, who play in the Northern League.
Between 1947 and 1956 Bishop Auckland won the Northern League seven times, and finished runners-up on the other three occasions. In the FA Amateur Cup, they have 18 final appearances and ten wins, including a record three consecutive victories but they are best known for winning the FA Amateur Cup ten times – and helping United by sending them players after the Munich air disaster.
The tiny Co Durham team can now plan for years to come. Officials from the club said that the massive bequest would help secure the future of the world’s most successful amateur side, and it’s like ‘Man Utd being given £3 billion’.
Can you imagine that, the club we support being given a transfer kitty of £3 billion?
I suspect we’d win the Champions League then don’t you, and all the domestic trophies on offer in the same season. No more worrying about where the next freebie is coming from, or whether we’d have enough pennies to sign Petr Cech, heck we could get De Gea, Neuer or even Courtois if we had that kind of financial backing as the wages we’d offer would blow the likes of City and Chelsea out of the water.. And let’s be honest, the majority of footballers do care about how much money goes into their bank account each week…
And we certainly wouldn’t be worrying about losing players to other big clubs I bet..
Laurent Koscielny is the latest concern as Real Madrid are rumoured to be lining him up to replace Man Utd target Sergio Ramos. If Utd are going to offer £30 million as quoted for the 29 year old Spanish centre back, then surely we’d expect them to offer a similar amount for our Frenchman but I bet they don’t. In fact £21 million is quoted by the media.
Will Arsenal cash in on a player who turns 30 years old this Autumn? I hope not! We need to keep all of our top players and build a proper squad, not let key ones depart.
Imbula is on his way to Inter Milan, so he’s not set to line up in our midfield next season.
But Morgan Schneiderlin could be as he’s on the move. Southampton have apparently told him he is free to leave as long as another club offers £24 million. Utd and Arsenal are believed to be in the race to sign him. Tottenham want him too but he wants Champions League football.
Schneiderlin told France Bleu Alsace radio station that he expected his future to be resolved shortly.
The negotiations are ongoing and should be completed in the coming days, hopefully before the resumption of [Southampton’s pre-season] training next week.
Well if he’s in negotiations with Arsenal, they’ve been kept very quiet so far and isn’t that just the way we do things?
Mind you, ‘The Secret Footballer’ believes Arsene Wenger is no longer keen on signing the player leaving Utd as favourites…..
Time will tell as it always does…
Have a good Thursday all….
Catch up in a bit, busy morning… 😉
later Rico.
Good read btw…
No may Kosser should be sold. Yes he is under rated by French National Team fans but he is absolutely top drawer.
Cant see morgan coming, good player but I think wenger wants someone cheaper
Good Morning Lovelies and Hunkies.
that was a touching story Rico. Imagine I leave 3 billion in my will to AFC. The Devilgunner stadium. sounds good. 🙂
Cech, Schneiderlin and Aubemayang. that is my wish list.
If Kos goes……I expect a good CB to follow him in. Kos is good. but at 30 with all the injuries he has had I think 21 to 25mill for him will be too good to turn down.
From previous page…The big dilemma for those who are concerned the current state of our national team is whether we want to progress or stick with what we traditionally find exciting to watch; will those in charge continue to give the same soundbite of limiting foreign players whilst ignoring the that most of our youngsters are over-hyped and only look half decent next to imported pros’?
looking back Aguero was one of the stars of the 2007 Youth world cup and but it took 4 yrs for him to make his big move to the EPL;
It is vastly different for our own youngsters though; Harry Kane plays for one season and he is considered a £40m player. We don’t in general have players who are technically/tactically superior to other European teams…
Liverpool call Gerrard a legend because he allegedly won them the UCL title but forget it took a 35 y.o German to come on in the second half for the game to change completely…
Morning Rico and all. Can’t see the Kos thing myself. It’s fine talking about age v value but who will you replace him with and is it worth messing with a fairly settled defence? Gabriel was bought last mid season so he could get to understand what the Arsenal culture is all about and be ready for this season.
Kos could go on for another 5 years. But, if he fancies RM I suppose it might be a different story. Many have moved and almost as many have failed.
Ginge, until the powers in the FA realise that English youngsters will benefit from top overseas players then they will continue to try and improve them without realising that their measures are actually impeding the technical and tactical development of the English players.
I have been to various coaching clinics and camps done by italian coaches and believe me they are so meticulous in their approach. even little things such as the way you open up your body to shoot, or the way you shape your body to dribble matter to them. I have seen a passing pitch in Italy which was amazing. There was a circle with a metre diameter. then another circle around it with a two metre diameter. another around it with a three metre diameter. And so on for 5 circles. And each circle meant something. the player with the ball stays in the centre circle. If an opponent is in the fifth circle the player is allowed to look to pass. but if the opponent is from the 3rd circle inwards the player must not look but has to dribble out of the situation. if he looses the ball the player has to do 15 push ups. you soon get the hang of it. Then when the real situation in a game occurs the player alrady knows what decision to make.
and this starts with kids as old as 11. not 16 year olds.
And bdw….between the ages of 8 and 14 italian clubs have a coach for 12 players.
My concern with Koscielny is his achilles issues which will need constant management throughout coming seasons. If it wasn’t for this I would not dream of selling him, but at his age I cannot see these issues getting better, especially with his swashbuckling style of play.
Anything over 25 mil for should be taken seriously in all reality.
Alternatives: Hummels, Otamendi, N’Koulou, Rami or even Ramos in swap deal!!
Morning Adam. you are right. If Kos’s heart is in it he will be an asset. but if his heart is not than better get a good sum and a good defender with it.
If Kos is to go for whatever reason Varne should be Inclued in that deal I’d expect 10-15 Mill for Kos and Varne in the other direction… but I’d rather we kept Kos he’s by far our best CB since Tommy V had that wonder season (1st season) and before that you’re looking at Toure and Campbell… I think his best years are ahead of him and he loves arsenal so it’ll be a no go for me…
Interesting summer ahead now Cech has signed I’d say we’re one world class player away from winning the league let alone competing….
No chance JT will perform at that level again this season at 35… Cahill doesn’t do it for me he’s rash and over rated and lost without Terry (as most would be I suppose) if their keeper gets injured they’re in all sorts of bother next season
City defensively are poor and Kompany had a shocker last year (doubt it will happen again) but what’s around him is poor and I front of the defence I’d say good prem players but certainly not excellent like Le couq and Matic… Sergio off to Madrid? (I wish)
UTD lose De Gea and replace with Loris will be ok but not great…. defensive worries will be there issue this season and dealing with 2 games a well avian will cause them issues and injury’s up top yeah have Rooney who’s best days are behind him as he looks like he’s lost half a yard of pace no idea why they let welbeck go…
If Liverpool tighten up at the back, get Danny S playing all season with Frimino, Countino feeding him and ings supporting occasionally with Milner and Henderson running around winning the ball and passing it off they could do well next season but again defence needs a re-ramp along with the keeper…
Tough be winnable season for the gunners as long as Cech performs at the level he has for the last 7 years at Chelsea…
COYG
Steven Kelly……If Kos is to go for whatever reason Varne should be Inclued in that deal I’d expect 10-15 Mill for Kos and Varne in the other direction
We always thought that RM are dumb, but not as far as that. Varane plus 10-15mill for Kos??? lol
Morning all.
Kozzer can not be sold, and there’s no need to.
Tell Real they can have him for 50 million or piss off!!
Morning all….great lesson there Devil. Why wont the English FA learn the tricks on how to bring up young lads.
Bondex, most coaches care more about winning games than they do developing players.
Simple as that.
WE DON’T NEED TO SELL ANYONE! Capiche?!?!
As Steven said we are bloody close to wining the PL add Reus and Schneiderlin! Simples!
Won’t be much of the £3 billion left after the first season if Rico is in charge of spending it. 🙂
Lee – I agree that we don’t need to sell anyone, but sometimes good business makes sense. Getting this kind of money for a player turning 30 before the end of the year would be a good deal to Arsenal’s money men, especially if Wenger feels they can get in an adequate replacement.
I remember we sold Van Persie at a similar age a couple of seasons ago. Look at him now. United would be lucky to get 7 mil for him!
Lee, thank goodness…..Sanogo can stay 🙂
What point would there be be in strengthening ManUre?
What point would there be in weakening Arsenal?
Koscielny to Real Madrid so they can flog Ramos to ManUre, a load of bollocks…
Afternoon All
Afternoon Rico.
Good post Rico, so good I read it three times…
And I might just read it again… 😀
Afternoon guys, thanks re the positive post comments..
Sorry for those who were stuck in moderation, I was out and about. Hope now you are on you come back…
I wouldn’t sell Kos, unless he wants out and then push for as much as we can for him if that’s the case but as Adam said, so many have gone before and many of those wish they hadn’t.
I truly believe Arsenal are on the way to great things so why would Kos not want to be a part of that… And who’d want to play for Rafa? 😉
And what would he win there? Barca would probably make sure it’s very little in Spain…
Three times Kev? You must be a glutton for punishment… 😉
allezkev – Man Utd will strengthen regardless, because they are willing to spend sums that we are not willing to.
Depending on the replacement we might not be weakening ourselves.
Like I said earlier, I have serious reservations about Koscielny’s achilles tendons holding up for a full season. Remember how many times we had to play Chambers, Monreal and Debuchy to cover his injuries!
What will be interesting is Koscielny’s stance if an offer becomes a reality.
Good Morning to The Lady of the House and all fellow Gooners in residence.
Scott – I’m with you regarding Koscielny and Real;, but if, and that is a big if, he wants to go there is no point trying to hang on to him. However, if Kos wants to stay, we should keep him. Otherwise, it is another new player to integrate into the team. Real would have to offer a lot more money to make it worthwhile for Arsenal to sell for strictly monetary gain.
Right now we have Kos and the BFG as first choice; Gabriel, Chambers & Hayden as second choice and Debuchy or Monreal in a pinch. Gabriel will be entering his second season. Chambers has played mostly at left back, but Arsene wants to use him at CB. While young Hayden hasn’t played much for the first team at all. That gives us adequate cover and also gives the newer/younger players two great and very experienced pros to learn from. Why would you upset the status quo and the succession of CB’s if ther is no need to?
Similarly, I suspect that TR07’s contract has been extended for a year. He too is an old pro who can fill a number of roles and help ease the likes of Bielik, Gnabry and Zelalem into the team. Bringing in new experienced players would interrupt that process.
Afternoon Cg…
Devil – I’m afraid the England teams, regardless of age level, will continue to suffer until the FA technical staff enter the 21st Century. They still seem to be stuck back in the 1970-90’s. As for the emphasis on winning over player development below the full national level, you only have look at the likes of Stuart Pierce to see that.
Thank heavens Arsenal have moved to modernize their Academy.
Dippers have got Clyne! Quite disappointed….
Chris, ManUre will spend big, because they need too, but why should we help them?
Koscielnys achilles problem was due to playing him when he was unfit, and that was because we didn’t have strength in depth in that dept of the squad. Monreal/Debuchy at centre-back is poor for a club of Arsenals status…
Now we have Paulista as back up, so there’s no reason why Kozzer cannot continue at the top level for another five years, in an Arsenal shirt…
Ha ha Joe re your earlier, there might be a bit left… lol
Looking at things purely on the basis of the footballing aspect I agree that we shouldn’t be disturbing a settled backline, however, as we know the business side runs hand in hand.
I would be surprised if the club didn’t consider moving him on for the right price. Kozza has 2 decent seasons in him maximum.
I thought he was going to Newcastle… Fog on the Clyne! Boom boom!
Tsb “Chambers has played mostly at right back”.
2 decent seasons?
What the hell do you base that on?
You say it as a statement of fact.
The guys improved every season with us, is as quick a CB as there is a round, and his football brain is better than ever.
Give me a break!
Agree Kev re Kos and Utd…
AW should have got Gabriel back in the summer, then such probs with Kos may very well been avoided…
Lee – Wasn’t ‘Fog on the Clyne’ an old album (vinyl) title? Maybe before your time though.
Allezkev – I am no Physician, but chronic achilles tendon syndrome as it was described does not just vanish. It has to be managed. The stresses that a footballer puts on his body in training alone means that this condition will have a lasting effect at his age.
I love Kozza as a player, but when you are injury prone at this age, good money should be a consideration.
scottfromoz – A football brain is definitely not one of Kozza’s strongest attributes. His game is based on his physical attributes – namely his pace/recovery which allows him to close down very early on opponents.
Once that those physical attributes are diminished you are never left with the same player!
Rico, we’ve both seen a once invincible, or so it seemed, Liverpool slide into mediocrity and ManUre are gonna go down the same avenue post-Ferguson…
They can spend as much money as they like, but as with the demise of Liverpool’s fabled ‘boot room’, the demise of Scholes, Giggs and Co will be impossible for them to replace…
£50m here, £60m there and almost £70m on Di Maria won’t replicate that group of youngsters that Fergie brought through and were the cornerstone of the success they enjoyed during the past two decades.
Falcao certainly doesn’t hit the spot!
Chris I’m not sure that Koscielny is injury prone, to be fair, and that’s a bit of a sweeping judgement, with respect, when none of us know his actual state of fitness…
Chronic Achilles issues?
Chronic?
Shit…let’s take him out the back and shoot him lol.
No football brain hey?
Keep those one liners coming…..love it 🙂
Kev, Yanted and Liverpool have a long way to go to build a squad, no question.
Isn’t it great?
Scott, when I’m gonna get that bleedin’ T-shirt?
Why breakup one of, if not, the best central defensive partnerships if there is no need to? Kos and and the BFG compliment each other as a pair. They makeup for each others weaknesses.
As for age, Arsene managed to keep one of the best back-lines in Europe all playing into their mid-thirties. More than one of Dixon, Adams, Keown and Winterburn have said that Arsene’s diet and training methods kept them playing at the top longer than most of their contemporaries.
I’m not so sure about Man Utd. They generate more money than any of the other Prem clubs and will always have it to spend, whether they waste some on duds or not.
We have seen that even when they didn’t have CL football they still managed to attract top talent. Now they do have CL football, a top top manager, more players than us who knows what it takes to win the prem and they were champions more recently than us, so I wouldn’t be proclaiming their decline just yet!
Utd will be challengers this season!
Scott, every dog has its day mate, now it’s Chelsea’s and ManCitys time, it won’t last forever and we’ll keep on picking up a cup here and a trophy there, whilst not needing to be subsidised…
🙂 Lee…
Kev, the Dippers are starting to worry me.. 😉 Seriously, if Brenda keeps on signing quality players he’ll have a good squad and when he fails with them, he’ll be off and my guess is Klopp will be in there….
Utd, well LvG seems to be all over the place doesn’t he….
Dev- Its’ always good reading your first hand account of other countries set-up.
Chris- you have some valid points but Rami? Jeez. You want us to sell Kosser and buy Rami? :O
I take it you haven’t watched him recently?
N’Koulou I will take in a heart beat btw…
Chris, has Kos been actually diagnosed with chronic Achilles tendon syndrome?
Scott – Koscielny was diagnosed with ‘Chronic Achilles Tendonitis’ as reported by our club and the French medical team.
Kozza has always been a rash centre back, giving away a lot of free kicks around the area as well as penalties.
This is because he always believes he can win the ball. He is not rated for having a football brain. He is rated for his athletic prowess!
Scott – “Kev, Yanted and Liverpool have a long way to go to build a squad, no question.
Isn’t it great?” Now if Arsenal can just capitalize on that by getting out of the blocks early and quickly at the beginning of the new season, while other teams are struggling to integrate their numerous new players.
It will be very interesting to watch all of the top BPL contenders preseason games this year. I think it will take some teams some weeks to find their feet.
In the last 2 seasons Koscielny has missed 28 games due to injuries
That’s good for Arsenal, just 28… 😉
At least we have back up, but its not ideal. These injuries always seem to come at the worst possible time!
I’m more concerned about Merts this season than Kos…
shame about Clyne joining the dippers. an excellent signing for them.
Still they have Brenda so…
In the previous 3 seasons he missed 24 games
Its pretty simple, dont sell core players of a strong team on the up.
If Arsenal add the right mix of 3 top players this season (eg Keeper, DM, attacker) we can win the thing. I wouldnt sell Koz for 21m. 30m if I had to… but thats because that is what his replacement value would be a another top international to come in straight away without us losing something.
To be honest BFG will be harder to replace. There are many athletic CB’s around, but tactical CB’s are harder to find.
I am happier with BFG complimenting Kozza/Gabriel than them playing together, as they are not thinkers and are much more instinctive players.
You only have to look at Kozza when he plays for France to see this.
Rico – Brenda has bought some good and some maybe or not so good players. Whether they will all work out or gel as a cohesive team is an open question. The more players he buys, the more players he has to integrate into his system. That may take more time than he has been or will be allowed.
Chris, look at the penalties Koscielny has “given away” and I’ll lay a years wages on the fact at least half were shit calls, and that is a fact.
Did he miss all of those games due to his apparent chronic injury?
Nope…not close but hey, it makes a good tale.
Better sell Theo and Jack real quick……..
Rico, Merts will be fine I reckon…..he’s having a break at long last.
Kev, I can not wait until the day arrives when Roman is bored and wants his money back.
Chelksi will be relegated within two seasons.
I agree CG – Rodgers seems to have a slapdash approach to signing players. Sturridge has been his best purchase, but has a horrendous injury record.
I like Firmino and Ings, but they are nowhere near the finished article required to compete with the other top sides.
Fans thinking about Hummels, Howedes etc. as potential replacements for kosser should consider what their other halves do career wise. They have respective jobs and so I doubt they will nor the sake of extra 30k a week imho…
My own view is Merts would be easier to replace than Kos, but it’s all a matter of opinion….
Very true Cg, he’ll possibly struggle as he’s not got the experience of dealing with a big squad. Let’s hope he does… Same with LvG, I hope he fails big time..
Kosser has had a few bad games for france but Varane, Sakho have had worst too imho…
Unfortunately Les bleu fans are harsh on Kosser. maybe he should have opted for his native Poland instead.
Same as OG12 gets slated if he plays and does not score; benzema hardly scores too…
Ings showing in the u-21 tournament must have troubled Brenda. 🙂
Then again Chalobah attempted to played like Pirlo unfortunately most of his passes found an Italian. 🙂
Omg did someone just said kozzer has no “football brain” hahahahahahahahahah it’s laughable. Morning HH hahahahahaha.
Look man give it a rest. Are you a coach manager or involved in the game?? I don’t think so. Kozzer was purchased just for what you claim he didn’t have, a football brain. Physical prowess??? Kozzer?? Hahahahahah now I ve heard everything. This is the same dude thst was bullied by Torres in his first game as an arsenal player. He had to bulk up a little bit to be able to withstand the rigors of playing in the epl. He still looks like a match stick though. Look my man if you don’t like a player just come and say you don’t . Don’t be trying to make that said player look like shit.
Good did you read reports Vietto has signed for D. Simeone again?
I bet next summer Chelsea will be bidding £45m for Vietto . I read his release clause has been set at 60m euros…
He has no football brain yet bayern wanted him a two seasons ago. Go listen to arsene’s interview after we signed him. Man some arsenal fans. If the same adil rami plays for us now and kozzer was in valencia. He ll say rami is shit let’s get kozzer.
https://youtu.be/-uZWXofe5io
Cg- is it not odd that the first team to field a starting XI without a single English player was Liverpool in the 1986 FA Cup Final – 4 years later England reached the semi finals of the world Cup – but their first choice line-up was made up of players in form, not picked because of who they played for…
Some numpties are still trying to blame AW for englands u-21 poor showing because Ox was apparently not allowed to play in the summer tournament…
Scott – Hazard last season was a stonewaller. Do you remember the rugby tackle on Dzeko?
I can’t forget the League Cup Final against Birmingham!
See this lads……..http://www.whoateallthepies.tv/kits/217206/arsenal-to-debut-daring-new-body-paint-away-kit-for-201516-leaked-photo.html
if it is to come to fruition I might buy a season ticket …….. just to see the ladies games. 😉
No football brain he says….yet kept messi quiet all game at the emirates. Man come up with something else please.
Nice story rico, a great gesture. Why are we suddenly looking at cheaper players than Schneid? Surely now with stadium sorted and a few trophies in the bag, is the time to push on?
Goonster, calm down my friend! Chris is entitled to his view, you should know that.
Lol goonie. Rami is now at Milan… and still shite.
Do you know about Johannes Geis?
Chris, thats two.
Two.
Thanks Andrew – agree, this is our time. Are we looking at cheaper DM’s though?
We are linked with defender Faouzi Ghoulam, is he any good?
Goonster – First of all, I did not say he has no football brain! that would be ridiculous.
But he doesn’t have the acumen of BFG or Terry etc.
Lesser players have kept Messi quiet on their day tbh, or on a Messi off day to be more precise!
Chris- genuine question.what is your view on Coquelin?
Rico, ask today’s expert lol
Am sorry rico but am tired of hearing so called gooners tear our players down. God this guy kept us in europe two seasons in a row. He scored both goals that took us to the Champions League. Sorry if I offended anyone but it just irks the hell out of me. If kozzer has no football brain then cnut Terry has shit for brains then!
Ginge, wouldn’t a better question be “what was your opinion of Coquelin 12 months ago?”.
We’ve come a long way since Birmingham Chris, as has Kos…
Scott – The Villa game is the glaring match for bad Kozza pen decision.
Yet he keeps nitpicking. Lord God in heaven ok how about the other a billion and one games he has been imperious? So Tony Adams didn’t give away a penalty? Baressi was humiliated by finidi George when Ajax faced Milan at the Amsterdam arena. Dude please give it a rest. Please. You re making my head hurt.
😀 Scott
The other BIG question for the Dippers is who is going to step into Stevie G’s boots? Love him or hate him, he was their captain and one of their longest serving players. Who will be appointed to or try to replace their long serving on-field general?
Brenda is definitely going to have an interesting season. He may not even see out the year far less the season. I should check the bookies for the odds on him being canned.
tsgh – I like Coquelin a lot and he should stay ahead of Flamini and Arteta in the pecking order, but I would love to bring Schneiderlin in and let them battle for the spot.
I just read on FB…..where a mate had commented…..as ouster fans are rapt that their club are getting business done early, and spending plenty of cash as its a statement of intent.
Funny, but isn’t that exactly what they did last year as well??
Scouser fans, that should read….go the IPad!
All Chris is doing Goonie is giving his reasons why he doesn’t think we’d miss Kos. You might not agree and neither do I but at least there’s a debate going…. And no-one’s telling you to give it a rest… 😉
Cg, I loathe the guy but as a footballer he’ll be very difficult to replace, I see a few Dipper fans think Milner will be the man. Can’t see it myself though. Like you, I can’t see Brenda lasting too long if all his new toys don’t hit the ground running…
Look guys, the point I was making is that as supporters we tend to look only at the football side of things and divorce ourselves from the business aspects which have also got us to where we are now and plays a massive part in the thinking of our club.
Putting people down or trying to score laughing points is not really my bag, and I don’t claim to be more of an expert than anyone else. I’ve been supporting the club for over 30 years grew up in Highbury, but think everyone has a right to their own opinion regardless of their background.
Scott, that’s harsh!
Afternoon Rico and all, another solid post
We are no longer a selling club of our best players
Kosh stays
Hey Goonie- show some respect for Finidi George; he had a better goals to game ratio in the world cup than some of englands’ top strikers. 😛
I remember that game, Desaily also suffered
Chris, the motto on HH is everyone is entitled to an opinion and you are no different. Don’t worry about Scott and Goonie, it took them a couple of years to wind their necks in..
Good to see you have stuck around and wouldn’t it be boring if we all agreed….
Alright then I know when to throw the towel in. I ll let it go. Henceforth I ll be brooding inside when someone attacks an arsenal player but god helps anyone bold enough to do it in my face.
If the money is actually down, I’ll be interested to see the clubs stance.
Ts as a perpetual Ajax hater that’s the only time those cnuts ever made me smile but guess what two weeks later they came to Arnhem and smashed us 8.0. God I hated that team. Lol
Goonster – Are you adverse to criticism of our players?
Nice one Chris…; At least you and Goonie agree on Coquelin…
Goonie just to cheer you up I have unearth a future gem for us..
Afternoon Mg, thanks.
Goonie, you have a short memory. It’s not that long ago you were slating many of our players and the manager… And I don’t think Chris is slating Kos at all, just pointing out why he thinks selling him might just be something AW is thinking about.
I personally don’t think he’ll go and like you, I hope he stays as he’s a really good defender….
Chris, the business side of things has changed dramatically in the last 2-3 years, yet your call on Kozzer suggests you’re stuck in a time warp.
As Malaga says, we are no longer a selling club, so why sell one of our very best players?
It makes absolutely no sense, and your critiques of him earlier were clearly personal opinion and not something from the possible perspective of the club.
Yes, you’re entitled to your opinion and nobody would dare suggest otherwise, but anything posted here will be commented on…….that’s the entire point.
Scott – I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels like he’s typing with his toes at times. I took a pass on typing courses when I was in school, but that was early in the computer age and information revolution.
Stan – Don’t scare Chris away. We could do with some new blood and as Rico said, he has sparked discussion.
Anyway, I’m off. Have a great day everyone.
Keep The Faith!
I agree that we are not a selling club, but that does not mean that we wouldn’t sell someone if we think it is good business.
ha ha ha Goonie. Ajax before 1996 were too good.
Chris- Goonie gets angst with me criticizing Le Coq for not being fit and being over rated but hey… 😛
Goonie- something to reminisce about…
Chris I believe as a fan base we re too fickle. You don’t see other fans moan and rant like arsenal fans. Go take a sneak peek at leshite and see those inbred cnuts laying into our manager players and fellow gooners. Am not a wengerite but even I don’t go as far as wishing him cancer. We ve had some shit players in the past but now we are on the cusp of something great. Why not band together and support this illustrious team to greatness rather than tear our players down. Those guys read the comments on blogs I ll have you know. If I am hurting imagine how they ll feel?
I’m sure Chris knows that comments will be responded to but it’s not what one says in life it’s how we say it….
And being an Aussie is no excuse Scott… 😉 😉
Rico I bash wenger. Have never bashed any arsenal player. Tai can bear me witness and I do it when he infuriates me. Like not subbing chambers when it was obvious to my pet mouse that montero was having a field day with him.
Rico, on FB, I’m being told I know nothing about Arsenal or the game as I’m an Aussie, so maybe I should take heed.
Funny how a season ticket means a person is suddenly an expert 🙂
Of course, plenty of people with drivers licences for 30 years still can’t drive lol
I hear you Goonster, and I am not saying that Kozza is shite, far from it, but maybe I don’t rate him as highly as others do.
If selling him for good money brought in a Hummels or an Otamendi, I would be inclined to take the money.
Ts that 96 team was the best dutch team ever. Lol. God I hated them all. Kanu finidi seedorf Davids and that Muppet kluivert. Lol he’s always scoring against us. God in heaven dad used to curse and rave at him from the stands. Hahahahahaha
You sure Goonie, I can always check back…. 😉
Who is the season ticket holder who thinks he/she’s an expert though Scott? Or is that someone on FB?
🙂 re the driving, you have a very good point there…. lol
That was a fantastic team. The DeBoer bros and Blind holding it all together!
Yeah Chris Jari litmanen was my mum’s favorite back then. Funny how she lasted in my dad’s house being an Ajax fan. Lol
One season I can’t remember which, we needed a point to stay up and those cnuts have already wrapped up the league at go ahead eagles so have nothing to play for. Yet at the end of the game we had 8 fat holes burning inside our goal post. Dad was mad as an ox. Mum was giggling in the kitchen. Lol memories. Hahahahahah
Ts schalker are the winners but geis will end up at bayern in two years.i have never seen a player with such potential
I am a bit with Chris on the Kos matter. He is 30 next Autumn, has had achilles problems in the past and they will increase as the 30’s roll on fast. Is it possible that there is no one who can fill his boots??? I dont think so. So if RM are dumb enough to offer around 25mill I would take it and invest in another centreback. A younger one!!! Its not a question of selling our best players. Its a question of getting stronger, fitter and better players. No player is indispensable. Not even Messi or Ronaldo. Or Bale. Its the Ethos and Philosphy of the club and the way it is run which is indispensable.
Goonster.
Chris- Blind snr was a super player…
What about Clasie?
If we could travel in time, Rico and wath ill be elling me Blind is tooshort. 🙂
Chris- I have a tip for you if you want to get in Goonie’s good book post a video of Boban. 🙂
For Dev- just post Baggio missing a penalty. 😉 or better still Inzaghi
And for me just say Arteta…
Adamant
Ts you know your audience 😀
Ks is 30 this September Devil..
Now now Ts… Don’t you start all that height stuff again… lol
Viewing players in terms of their financial worth is such a small part of the equation. Ask Arsene and he will talk to you about their character in and out of the dressing room and how they work as part of the squad and the team on both a physical and cerebral level. He will talk about their mental attitude and fortitude, their recovery times and foibles and he will inform you as to the benefits of sports science and how it, in conjunction with medical assessment, will prolong a player’s time at the top.
If putting a top team together was merely a matter of spending money on players who have looked good for their club, like Clyne for instance, then even Brendan Rogers could do it.
You have a point Drake…; S04 have become a FC Muchen feeder club.
Glad you like geis.
Have you seen much of him in the u-21 cup? He captained mainz at 20 y.o. Insane or what. he might end up being the new sammer.
When I go to BVB games, the fans chant a song I am told meaning S04 are now FC Hollywood’s feeder club.
The rivalry between S04 and BVB is insane.
Boban was a rolls royce of a player, but hard as nails also!
I like Clasie, but my worry would be that he and Coq are not the tallest.
Ta wath is probably 4 feet 3 hence his fascination with big brawny bastards. Rico’s I can’t say out loud for fear of being binned 😀
😀 Rico. Dev started it this morning. 😛
He wiki’d mauri’s height straight away and dismissed him for being below Rico’s gauge…
Bayern seem to feed on all the other Bundesliga clubs at the moment.
😀 Goonie.
He made me like BVB 09. What a player…
Exactly Adam. And if it was that easy, any one of us could do it… 😉
We can’t have such a superb afternoon without me posting Dev’s fave video… 😛
Ts stop groping my players. Lol. Sammer was the shit but Dino zorg was something else. That midfield had it all. Strength flair and physicality. You don’t win a contest against Sammer. No way.
Good Goonie… lol
Rico. Judging by the Arsenal sites I look at there are many who think they could. Personally, I couldn’t get up early every morning but don’t think I could do it anyway. I would have kicked Giroud out as soon as he nutted that bloke around Christmas time and several times before and since. 🙂
That one escaped me Ts..
🙂 Adam, I wouldn’t be able to stay up late enough, especially on DD….
Rico. You surprise me as I know what energy you have. 🙂
goonie- we rate identical players apart from Le coq of course. As said before Monco game if Le Coq did well against kondogbaiand Toulalons I would change my mind. Toulalon was no available but Coq still looked clueless. 😛
Zorg was something else…
Players are not made like that any more; another one was Thomas Hassler who was very underrated as well.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Br0D7KcNO5Y
Jeez and Thoma Brolin…
Why have you had a Giroud styled barnet then Adam?
Brudder. Less of that. I might be your neighbour soon. 🙂
Goonie- do you recall this goal.
Rodgers will be binned by Christmas and Klopp will take over….. have you seen their opening fixtures? Tough start for those shell suit wearing fucktards! GOOD!
Brudder. That would be an interesting scenario. All that Botox and teeth whitening might not save him then.
However the young Richard that he is seeing loves his taught boat race!
You ok Brudder?
Ts Martin dahlin(spelling ) and Thomas Brolin ll always be in my hall of fame for almost knocking Brazil out of the 94 world cup.
Adam I went to a cracking restaurant the other week in Marylebone, called Il Baretto.
Ts Hassler effenburg and my own very favorite Mario basler. God in heaven that generation was blessed with some top knotch midfielders. No wonder they always bested us. Lol
Not bad Brudder. Things are moving along now so I might be moving your way. Who knows? Estate Agents are perfidious fuckers.
Yes, I have seen little Brenda with his trophy girlfriend and noticed that he had to increase the monies to his ex too. Pity he’d spent it all trading in the Casio for a Big Pilot. Still the astonishing white gleam from his hampsteads must be like a beacon of monetary promise to Scouse girls.
Great minds think alike Lee re Brenda and Klopp…
Brolin the fat fuck?
Lee 😀 I sense a bit of resentment on your part. Lol why is that if I may ask?
Towards who Stanley? You? Never in a million years! 😆
Is that the one near the Chiltern Shitehouse? The menu looks interesting. The pasta with crab and courgette might appeal to Mrs Adam.
Chiltern (most over-rated/priced restaurant) Shitehouse indeed…..
I think it’s the sister restaurant to Le Petit Maison, which is the bollocks!
I have eaten more rubbish Italian than almost any other food in London Brudder. So a nice one is well worth knowing about. I went to that one down in Wapping because everyone said it was great, but overcooked pasta and surly waiters were rather off putting.
It’s the Good Food Guide on here…. 🙂
I could always get the crystal ball out Rico. 🙂
I like Il Bordello….that’s a shame you had a pony meal! I’ve always had cracking meals in there……
Who did Ivan say we were signing?
Lol lee I meant towards Thomas Brolin 😀
I can’t remember Lee. A plate of prawns and a slice down at Leigh On Sea will do me. 🙂
Brudder. What about Hawksmoor? Everyone loves it. I can’t afford it though. Perhaps Kev will take me. 🙂
Bit too warm for that Adam…. 😉
Goodmen’s is better or STK even…..
Sanogo and Benzema feature on this mates……
Kev….imagine they did this to you when you ran the line…….lol. lmao
Arsenal make shock £8.5m bid for Chelsea prodigy Charly Musonda…
🙂
Tyrone Mings rejects Arsenal to sign for Bournemouth!
Just love these headlines…. 😛
Aye Rico. Today its was the turn of Begovic as well.
So by next week it will be….Cech, Begovic and Casillas.
Cech for the CL. Begovic for the league. Casillas for the LC and the FA Cup.
Ches for the smoke cup.
With all the players rejecting us we will be lucky to fill our squad quota this season I am starting to pine for the days when we where only snubbed.
What makes me laugh is how the sites try to make stuff as vague as possible, i.e. “Arsenal agree deal for German striker”. I know its about Podolski but click on said link just to see if I’m right!!
Begovic Devil, must mean we are selling both keepers… 🙂
Ha ha Joe…
Chris, don’t tell me those kind of headlines still fool you? Ok, I’ll stop using them… lol
It’s the hope that gets you clicking to see if it’s a new bullish*t story not an old recycled one or hope of hopes it’s the first post of an Arsenal signing that’s beaten the .Com.
That’ll never happen Joe… Lol
Unless ‘the secret footballer’ comes up with a gem… Lol
I’m still getting over the shock of a cup of tea and a cake in Old Compton St let alone Hawksmoor…
Tea and cake Kev…. Nice..
On that last note, I’m off for a cuppa and bed..
Night all….
It was good though wasn’t it Kev?
rico, give ’em an inch and they’ll take a mile, gotta put your foot down with a firm hand.
Out of interest what’s the name of your pet mouse Stan ? My money’s on Dennis !
Chris, a word in ya ear, Scott lives in an open air prision with walls 14,000 miles thick, take him up on his wager and he’ll only end up going double or quits with ya buddy, never won a bet in his life !!!
Nite Gooners.
It was very good Adam…
Micko, you still owe me for Gervinho…you said he’d be leading goal scorer in the PL.
Hi Scott looks like you had a late night yesterday just in from work off to sleep now keep up the fight.
Sad to see Patrick Macnee pass always loved the Avengers growing up RIP.
Always Joe, always 🙂
Good Morning Lovelies and Hunkies.
Here its a fine sunny day with brilliant cool breeze. It will stay that way until mid-day when we will begin frying.
Just read this you Schneiderlin/Vidal wishers…….
http://redlondon.net/2015/06/25/wenger-approves-new-defensive-midfielders-inclusion/
Morning Devil and all.
To be honest Devil, it makes little difference if Bielik goes into the squad this summer does it? Hayden, Akpom and Zelalem were all in the squad last season but none played…
Papers here are full of Morgan going to Utd….
Morning Rico and all.
I think the Schneiderlin ship has sailed…. I just hope AW doesn’t rely on Coq or think that Arteta/Flamini are suitable back ups!
Brudder.
Morning Brudder.
Wenger and Schneiderlin are both Alsatians too. Half German.
Morning Adam and Lee…
Paves the way for…………….BENDER BENDER BENDER!
Morning Rico……
Thought there was only two Lee? lol
I repeat, did someone mention a Bender?
Euston Station is like the Bermuda Triangle of blogging. Comments just disappear into space…
Schneiderlin going to the Mancs doesn’t stop Wenger going for Vidal…
Unlikely I know, but do’able…
an Arsenal dream team (Acc to NN anyway) ina a 4-3-3 formation
Casillas
Schlupp, Gomez, Mings, Ghoulam
Schnederlin, Vidal, Illaramendi
Banzema, Higuian,Aubemayang
Mings and Gomez seemed to have turned us down to join inferior clubs (sic).
And of course, Morning All…
Morning Rico…
It’s gonna be warm again today.
Hiya Kev. ok mate.
have you taken any potential signing to the Ems in your cab yet??
Morning Coach, not sure that we was ever in for Mings..
Gomez, pah…
Let’s see how O’Connor come along this season. He is quite good…
I’ve got a Bender in my cab… 🙂
I agree Kev. But the press seem to think so anyway……we miss so many players according to them that it feels like AW is a saint. He is so HOLEY……geddit??
I have not yet seen O’Connor yet. would love to do so but unfortunately I do not have the privilege to watch EPL reserves/youths like I have with the Italian clubs.
Maybe AW should employ me as a scout in Italy. lol
medical today?????
http://www.squawka.com/news/reports-chelseas-petr-cech-to-undergo-arsenal-medical-today/406145
Apparently Papma have been relegated to the 4th tier in Italy, Coach.
Financial irregularities or something?
Seems that we’re being linked to a young Argie striker whose available for nix…
Parma
Unless it’s the Metro, Coach, I won’t believe it… 😉
Morning Kev…
New post up now guys.
