Bumper Deal Done Before January? Koscielny Out Injured? Arteta Set For New Deal…..

Morning all.

Want Arsenal to Lose? Never!
Want Arsenal to Lose? Never!

Happy Birthday to Olivier Giroud who is 28 years old today. No birthday cake demanded as far as I know but apparently he’s been given a two year contract extension. Wow, that’s a nice birthday present isn’t it! He’s now with us until 2018 which will no doubt please many Arsenal fans.

Giroud is expected to be back around Christmas time, just in time to be ‘like a new signing’ in January – as will Mathieu Debuchy.

Not only Giroud is set to stay a bit longer but apparently Mikel Arteta has been offered a one year contract extension and according to the Mail, he’s ready to accept it. I’m not sure what sense this deal makes really, our captain was struggling last season to keep up with the pace of today’s game and that hasn’t changed this season either. He certainly isn’t the right guy to be trusted in the defensive midfield position but if he is to stay, perhaps the manager will find a different role for him…

Arteta is out for tomorrows match, in fact suggestion is he’s out for a month, Ramsey is out for at least six weeks but Jack Wilshere may now be fit to play. There are reports going around which suggest Laurent Koscielny will miss tomorrows match with an Achilles injury. I do hope that’s not the case.

Tomorrow’s game is a massive one for us as we really need to get three points on the board if we are to get through the group stages of this competition. We are at home and we cannot afford to drop points, certainly not against Galatasary or RSC Anderlecht who we will no doubt be battling with for that second spot.

Before our match, the Under 19’s face the same opposition in the Uefa Youth League – the game kicks off at 2pm and it’s live on the Arsenal player. You don’t even have to pay to watch, how very unlike Arsenal eh!

That’s about it, have a good day all….

All for Theo and Giroud contracts….

I meant injuries lol against an Arteta extension but would love to offer him a coaching role and progress with us. Feel he could offer something there, great professionalism.

  2. rico says:

Same here really, not sure on Giroud though but it was always likely. Arteta makes little sense at all imo, certainly not if he’s to remain our main DM. Surely he won’t though..

  3. Bt62 Gooner says:

Rico, Theo to sign again, jeez you’d think he would have enough money to count, then he has more spare time than most.

    Good post Rico…

No problem with Giroud contract extension.
Good to see the club being pro-active in that dept.

    Arteta as a player-coach?
Seemed the way to go, but?

Potter the only thing I’d offer you, is to buy you a pint… 😉

Digger, I wasn’t digging you out btw, just trying to pass on the frustration of seeing another season stumbling along, when we should have been flying, if the manager had shown the same ambition as the CEO…
I owe you you a drink or 5…..

  5. rico says:

Bt – think his contract is up in 2016 so I guess they are doing things differently now rather than let players leave for free. About time too…

Really hope he can put his injuries finally behind him. Like Diaby really… lol

I can’t tell a hamstring from purse strings but how come Costa has a “hamstring” and still plays and scores! Ramsey gets a “hamstring” and is KOed for six weeks?

    Morning all.
    Hiya Kev.
I just read my dressing down 🙂
All good mate, but when i spoke of tactics NOT being a problem, I only meant in the Spuds game.
We tore them apart but failed to finish it.
I’ve always said Wenger is not a great tactical manager, never has been and never will be.
His problem now is…well, for a decade…is other managers learnt some valuable lessons from him and he lost his advantage.
He should have walked in May.
I said that at the time and I maintain that stance but we have him now…still.

    Good morning from Sunny Dubai

    Nice post Rico

We should play without a striker against Chelsea and just hit hopeful long balls into space hoping Sanchez can outrun the last Chelsea man on the halfway line. Fair to say they will push up and keep us in our half.

Expecting the Turks to kick lumps out of us after they saw the scum do it and get away with it. We should see them off, I would take a scruffy 1-0 all day everyday. We are not exactly playing with awe inspiring super confidence.

It could be worse, we could have Pardew and be Newcastle. You know me , sarcasm at its finest.

Lee, a good night/early morning had by all, tail enders left about 6 am, i was well gone with the fairies by then….lol

As average as we are ATM, we are 4th.
It seems another mediocre year of League football.
Chelski are decent only, but made to look great.
Citeh will beat them home this season, as they have the quality and depth still.
We will poke around again, and take advantage if how bad other clubs are.
Honestly, we had the League in our grasp with two, maybe three more signings.
That is off my chest, so time to move forward.
Let’s just knock the arseholes off on the weekend and show everyone how average they really are.

  11. TONYBEE (@TBINJ) says:

injuries yeah every clubs do have it but they do have adequate exp cover we dont thatis the difference with our rivals we need to invest and buy quality cover

    Afternoon, rico, All…

    Good post.

Arteta took a pay cut to leave Everton on deadline day to join us…he’s booed today by Evertorians….the least we can do is show him enough love to repay that sacrifice. Every decision shouldn’t really be for footballing reasons. But come to think of it, Arteta can still be quite useful. If we get that DM…Arteta can relieve him in some matches or even partner with him if Wenger ever changes his dogmatic stance on tactics. Arteta can inspire youngsters like Chambers and a host of others…

Costa’s injury PR is only a ploy by Mourinho to keep away from international games. Mourinho uses every trick in the book to win his trophies…and most times, his ‘lucks’ need investigation. Ramsey, Arteta, Giroud, Debuchy, Theo – all sure starters if fit will miss match against Chelsea…who knows who may join after tomorrow! For now, only Drogba may miss but don’t be surprised Drogba comes back before Sunday. Already, Rooney won’t play Chelsea and before then, don’t be surprised to see Di Maria injured!

  13. potter says:

Kev the only fight we would have is who got to the bar first to get the first round.
Re :- Sanchez slowing down the passing game , I give up ! Quick passing will only get you so far usually between the penalty box and the halfway line.. That’s where individual skill takes over but that gets a bit risky and you might lose possession and that goes against the grain with our leader. I am surprised that he hasn’t tried to change the points system to get a bonus for keeping the ball longer than anyone else.

  14. rico says:

Scott, City have played Chelsea at home, they drew 1-1…

    Thanks Tai..

Micko, it had to be you… 😉

    Afternoon all…

LEAKED: Conversations between Arsenal medical staff and top midfield talents become public

Steve Wellman • Far Side View

Colin Lewin and (Doctor) Gary O’Driscoll are sat in the London Colney medical centre, drinking their morning coffee, waiting for the usual Monday influx.

    At 8.30am there’s a knock at the door; the Doctor looks at Colin;

“Bet you a fiver, it’s Abou”

“Not a chance, you pull that one every week, every week I hope we’ve fixed him and every week I lose £5. At the mo I’m £2,000 down!”

With baited breath they wait and in hobbles Rambo

“Hi guys, I’m back again, bit of a hammy knack this time. How long?” Asks Aaron Ramsey.
After a thorough examination Colin reports.

“Well Aaron it’s not too bad, I’d like to say you will only miss the trip south of the river, but let’s be realistic, we’ll see before the jaunt to Anfield to see how you are going!”

Just as Ramsey leaves to plan a month trip to Ibiza and the medical team are about to sit down to their morning tea, there’s another knock at the door,

“Ab….. Oh it’s you, Mikel” the Doc exclaims.

    “Splits ends?” sniggers Colin.

Offended by the insinuation, Mikel Arteta ignores Mr Lewin and talks to Gary directly.

After a long discussion, the Doc is about to give his diagnosis when Lewin pulls something out of his bag.

“Here you are captain, I’ve got some conditioner, that should solve the issue”

“Whatever,” Mikel sneers. “I’ll see you at the end of the week, OK?”

“And for the next few after that” the Doctor adds.

Before they can eve draw breath, there is another knock at the door.

“Jesus Christ” screams Colin, “Can’t you lot stay fit for five bloody minutes!!”
Sheepishly Jack Wilshere pokes his head around the door.

Before for Jack can utter a word, the Doctor jumps in

“6 weeks, tell Arsene it’s 6 weeks. Now go home and put your feet up”

Jack smiles, sparks ups a B&H & jumps in his car, as soon as.

Colin, being concerned about Abou Diaby, goes on a wander around the training ground to see if he could find his good friend. To his shock he finds him training with the first team. Waiting for the session to finish, he grabs Abou on the way to the showers.
    Everything alright mate?” enquires Colin.

“All good doc, boss reckons with all the injuries, I’m in with a chance to play against Galatasaray. Good news, yeah?” Abou replies.

“I’ll book you in for Thursday morning then” Colin retorts.

One granny too many Bt… 😉

I once bought a car on the internet and when I spoke to the salesman, many times I hasten to add, I assured him that if he had sold us a duffer, I would be straight up to the garage and grab him by the knackers…

The car arrived, and it was immaculate and on the back seat was a bottle of wine and a bunch of flowers. The car was tip top…..

  17. rico says:

Ok, I have an admission to make. I bought a bar of chocolate in Aldi. It’s the Rum, Raisin and Hazelnut bar (one of the only two nuts I can eat) and it’s bloody lovely… 🙂

  18. arsenal11730 says:

Super post Rico. Only real optimists can see us grabbing 3 pts at the weekend. The realists believe we will be on the end of a right stuffing. I am frustrated, confused and angry at AW. His stubborness is ruining OUR GREAT CLUB. He should get help on his areas of weakness – Tactics, Spending Money in the Window and dropping his Favourite pets from the squad.
Keep up the excellent work. Cheers
    Hoping for a win tomorrow.

  19. potter says:

Chocolate and Chilli ,:- Very Mexican. Tomorrows match will set the tone for the season and if it goes pear shaped the weekend will get more interesting.

  20. BrainwashedKev says:

Scott, I was just pissed off after the weekend…

Same old same old again this season, I’m afraid…

Can’t even see the FACup coming to the rescue…

  21. scottfromoz says:

Kev, I know mate and I never took issue with it.
I’m not even frustrated, to be honest.
It’s more like a feeling of acceptance.
    Not great.

  22. Wavy says:

Potter, I’ve seen it all before!
Tomorrow is another day, but the day after it will be yesterday!
And thereby hangs a tale…I hope it will be a happy a story but given all our injuries and Wenger’s lack of………….I think we may all be disappointed….again!
I’ve had another, ho hum Eeyor kind of day!

  23. rico says:

That takes backward passing to a whole new level… lol

Diaby is fit but just not ready for 90 mins, or something like that AW said…

    Morning Lee and all….

  24. Adam says:

Interesting article in the paper this morning about the relative costs involved to watch football on the TV. We are being absolutely hammered so some players can earn £200 k a week plus. £51 minimum per month here. Less than half in Germany and £18 a month in Spain. Factor in a ST plus the travelling and food etc and the total outlay is quite scary really.

  25. scottfromoz says:

    Hi everyone.
Foxtel…pay TV…costs me around £40.00 per month, though I could drop a few channels and a little money.
Loss of sleep…..feeling like crap the day after a game…..who knows how to out that in monetary terms, but I’m glad the players are getting by 🙂

  26. scottfromoz says:

    Hi Rico,
It’s exactly why I get the shits at players players leaving for money…..they already earn enough to display a little loyalty, IMO.
The quality of a persons life is not improved a single bit by jumping from 80 to 100k a week.
