Reports suggest we could sign the following three players this week….
Scott Dann
Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain
Per Mertesacker
And all that is meant to take place BEFORE we lose Nasri and Fabregas….
Don’t shoot the messenger; that is the news in the Arsenal Blog World…..
Do you believe it??
No, nor do I.
Would you be a bit happier if those stories turned out to be true?
That’s a question which is not so easy to answer isn’t it?
My answer is, If Wenger won’t go and buy Cahill and Samba then I’d still rather have Mertesacker in our defence than Squilli, maybe even Djourou in certain games and he’s better than no signing at all.
Scott Dann, well he’s English….
That’s it really, he’ll get stuck in no doubt but it’s a risky signing in my opinion but again, I’d rather him than Squilli – he was part of the Birmingham team that got to the Carling Cup Final, only a ligament injury sustained in the semi-final kept him from a day out at Wembley.
The down side is that he used to be a Liverpool Season Ticket Holder. 😉
Oxlaide-Chamberlain – Ordinarily I’d welcome this signing but right now all we hear is that money is tight. Well if it’s that tight, why is Wenger considering spending £12 Million (price mentioned) on another young player??
Oh well, I guess all will or will not unfold in the next week, maybe three – all I know is that I’m not banking on anything much happening in this window. Maybe a bargain on the 31st August, maybe now….
Reality is, if we had a board and a manager who wanted to show intent for the up and coming season, both would have done so by now. They would bought Gary Cahill and not just talked about Gary Cahill…
Up until now Arsene Wenger has managed to just about keep us in the top four by the end of the season but sadly, unless something happens to shock all Arsenal fans, I fear those days are over. That is not me being negative, it’s me being realistic and no matter how good we are going forward and we are, especially when Robin plays but we are always going to leak goals, silly soft goals at the back.
According to The Daily Express, we will lose Nasri and Fabregas this week, Nasri to Citeh for £22 Million and Fabregas, well you don’t need me to tell you any more on that one…
Regardless of all that is reported, I bet there are fans out there who still truly believe that all is ok in the AFC world but clearly it’s not. There are six days until the beginning of the new season, twenty-four days until this transfer window shuts!
So is not looking quite so good is it, despite the colour of your spectacles……
Will Wenger sort it out?
Will we, by the end of this week or by the end of the transfer window have a squad that could really challenge in the league and other competitions?
I hope so…….
Morning HH…
Morning All & Lee 😉
Could be an interesting week…..
morning/ evening all
Oh dear! We are in shit street!
It’s looking that way alan….
it’s funny isn’t it – each time i comment the same old thing is in my mind to write, but i’m bored with it…
😉
Out today guys, be back around 2 ish 🙂
Have a good day
If u can’t keep your negativity to ursself please don’t bring it with you to ashburton . The players are just not going to play better and win games with fans booing, and groaning a misplaced pass or shot. We all want arsenal to win don’t we? Sure im frustrated as we all are . Lack of signings trophies etc. But we can’t let the media- fans get us down just destroy ourselves coz that’s what we are doing ! Never mind our board and wenger we all have a responsibility to SUPPORT our club through thick and thin.
If we could make asburton a fortress this year then maybe we can say we are doing our part ! I don’t just mean paying and attending the game ( even though u had to fork out a small fortune for it) but REALLY sing and not whine ..
Just remember …..
.we all follow the arsenal over land and sea we all follow the arsenal onwards to victory!!!!!! Keep the faith
Scott Dann
Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain
Per Mertesacker
out of the three, the latter sounds the better option. At least he’s an international.
I’d still prefer
Jagielka, Cahill, Mata and Barton
One thing is 100% certain………Arsenal will rake in the money before end of August by selling our stars but its about 30% that they will spend some of it. They have played all Gunners for idiots now for 5 years and we still defend them. I half expect Cygan & Stepanovs to come back, thats how much Arsene knows about defence.
Djourou is a very good defender and he needs more games to become great. I don’t know Mertersacker but I don’t think we should worry about Djourou.
sagna/eboue/jenik cahill/djouro TV/Kosc gibbs/traore
nasri/ramsey song/parker/frimp wilsh/diaby
Mata/Walcot RVP/chamak/vela Gern/Arsh/Ros
hey Mr wenger just please buy Cahill, Parker and Mata i will promise u, u will win everything next year…
There is positive news. I have two favorite teams in the world, Arsenal and Werder Bremen. Werder had a dismal season, and so did Arsenal. Everytime they lost or drew, so did Arsenal. Well they won they’re opening game 2-0. Lets hope the paradox continues
hey we need a defensive midfielder like parker or barton what if song goes for African cup or what if song has got injured plz mr wenger think about our DM.
the other thing is i love to see is mata in arsenal i believe he can add something to us in absence of fabri and nasri
last but not least we need a central defensive who can be a good partner with TV this person may be Cahill or Subotic.
finally if we had a money its better to have a striker who can be a good partner with RVP in addition to GErvinho BEnzema or ETO can be a good Striker
sanga cahill TV Baines
Nasri Parker/Song Wilshere
RVP Benzema Gervinho
DO NOT BE CONFUSED THIS IS ARSENAL WITH A GRACE
Dann will be an excellent signing, mertesacker – not so keen as he is slow however could be ideal to bring on as a sub for last 15 mins when holding onto a lead as we naturally defend deep
why the fuck are we spending £12 million on a youngster who is a winger!!!
and can we please get rid of those useless tossers ALMUNIA, EBOUE, SQUILLACI, TRAORE, BENDTNER
and get rid of that *cnut* called cesc – he has totally mugged us off!!!
Wenger needs to put arsenal 1st and not his own personally feelings about cesc – “i love cesc, i want him to stay!” – what a joke – did you not love patrick viera and theiry henry cos you let them leave and they are the oned that gave you your legacy!!!!
Morning good people….if wenger spends 12mill on a kid am gonna have a cow….
If you have a cow Stan I want photo’s 😉
The 4-4-2 system of Brazil differs a lot from most other 4-4-2. The backs play an important role during build-up. A central defender will cover the position of the back who got involved.
The center of the defense is amongst others covered by the central midfield player. His task is to be a kind of sweeper in the midfield and he plays a key role in distributing short and long passes.
He is the first playmaker.
Midfield players who are focused on the attack and players who have a more controlling task behind the attackers characterize the midfield line of the Brazilians.
______________________________________________________________
I reiterated, our defensive frailities started in MIDFIELD with Song-Wilshere offering little protection in front of Back-4.
Song is not that DCM or a “Vieira” that can performed this function in a 4-4-2:
“The center of the defense is amongst others covered by the central midfield player. His task is to be a kind of sweeper in the midfield and he plays a key role in distributing short and long passes.”
Neither is Song a “Petit” or an “Invisible Wall Gilberto”.
Song is rather a hybrid CB who can bring the ball out of Defence to initiate counter-attack, but simply lack that quickness and pace of Flamini to track-back when the attack breaks down or lose the ball with opponent launching a hoof-ball to bypass the entire Arsenal Midfield.
Wilshere is still developing and lacked that upper body-strength of a Billy Bremmer or “Poison Dwarf” Dennis Wise to play deep as DCM cum playmaker. Perhaps he can developed into a ‘Gunther Netzer”, a “Tardelli” or better still a ‘Xavi” during this season.
That is, I see Wilshere more and more in the “Xavi” role and he needed a “Busquet or a Keita” to ride shot-gun to assist him.
But this season, we are stuck with existing players and I believe just a bit of fine-tuning and a change of tactics can transform this TEAM:
…………………Szczesney
….Sagna…………Djourou………Vermaelen
………………….Song
…Rosicky…………Wlshere…………Traore
….Walcott……….Van Persie…….Gervinho
Just play Song as the “Sweeper” infront of Back-3 whose task is wholly defensive and breaking up plays in front of Back-3, and linking up with DJourou-Song as CB pairing and with Vermaelen helping on left flank -with Traore ahead of him – plus Sagna or Vermealen sweeping behind Front-3 in case any attacker got behind Song-Djourou.
Rosicky-Sagna protecting right flank and Vermaelen-Traore protecting left flank. DJourou-Song-Wilshere protecting centre.
Then, Front-3 Walcott-Van Persie-Gervinho concentrating on winning balls and pressuring opponents in their half of the pitch knowing that there is a protective shield behind ’em in Arsenal Half.
Traore has experience in playing left mdifield with Pompey and is a better left wingback than Gibbs with his pace and physicality, and of course more experience than an injury-prone Gibbs.
Traore should play with more confidence as a wingback knowing than any howlers committed by him will have a “safety” back-up behind him in Vermaelen.
That is, in any counter-attack situations, our opponent will need to go thru’ “3 lines of defence” before they can run clear to our goal.
Let WIlshere be our “1st Playmaker” bringing out the ball from deep, initiating any attacks and like Cesc, should start to find his passing ranges by his quick and long accurate passes to the Front-2 in Gervinho and Walcott with their blazing pace…plus a Van Persie coming in from deep – just behind Theo and Gervinho – to latch onto any cut-back or loose ball to fire his accurate shots at goal…..not frogetting Rosicky or Traore who can shoot acurately too.
And of course, Vermaelen with his venomous left foot shot…..and Sagna too as well.
I believe that regardless of tactical formation, with the present squad, we can be a formidable opponent to any teams, provided we gell as an integral UNIT and a MDIFIELD that will provide protection to Back-4.
If we want to play a high-line and to pressurise opponents high-up on the pitch, then Johann Cryuff’s Barca 3-4-3 is the way to go…with Wilshere as “Guardiola” that defensive steel as well as our 1st Playmaker in luanching counter-attacks from deep…with Van Persie in the “Bergy’s Hole” -probing, seeking openings – as 2nd Playmaker….and the unpredictability and dribbling skills of Gervinho and Walcott as “3rd Playmaker” with their assists and cut-backs in bringing team-mates into play.
To nullify counter-attacks, then Song must be that “LIbero” to breakup plays in front of Back-3…and Vermaelen or Sagna is that Sweeper to clean-up behind Djourou-SOng when they are bypassed with quick one-two attacks.
We use attacking FB to stretch our opponents which also made us vulnerable to quick counter-attack.
Sagna is slow in tracking back, Gibbs’ has poor posiitonal sense and bought dumies easily..Traore is like CLichy, making 1 or 2 “fatal slips’ per game.
Then by all means, recognised their defects, harnassed their good points in attacking abilities by providing a defensive “safety” behind them.
And all these can be overcome by training and more training and playing more and more games together to develop understanding amongst them and to gell ’em as an integral UNIT.
And that is why I am confident that we can have a brilliant season!
Of course, an added bonus is that if Wenger really really can buy another 2 or 3 no. 24-27 year old expereinced players…….
But the real bonus is that if he can motivate a dsiinterested Fabregas to give one more season, to believe in the TEAM and to give all as he can like in 2007/08 season…..

Arsene Wenger insisted again on Friday that he wants unsettled Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas to resist Barcelona’s attentions and stay with the club even if the Spaniard will miss the start of the new season.
.
Barcelona’s latest attempt to lure Fabregas to the Nou Camp was rejected on Friday with Sky Sports claiming Arsenal were standing firm on the 40 million (45 million euro) price tag they have placed on the midfielder.
European champions Barcelona had already failed with an offer of around 30 million (34.4 million euro), and an improved reported bid of 29 million euros plus six million euros in future add-ons has also failed to tempt the Gunners.
Wenger told http://www.arsenal.com that he had left Fabregas out of the squad to travel to Lisbon for Saturday’s friendly against Benfica.
“I don’t think Fabregas will be ready to start the season because he has been out for a long time and has had no games,” said Wenger of the player’s hamstring injury.
“I do not want to speak about the transfer of Fabregas because I have done that three years now in every press conference so I don’t think there is any more need to add something.
“I love Fabregas and I want him to stay, that is basically it. Everybody is free to think what they want. We cannot stop people raising questions.”
_______________________________________________________
The one important lesson from all those pre-season friendlies is that Fabregas is irreplaceable and it is up to Wenger’s man-management skils to get his head screwed right, rolled up his sleeves and drive Arsenal FC to the title this season.
Tell Fabregas the imprtance of this season as he needs to paly regular to replace Xavi in SPain Euro2012 squad and that with an ageing Xavi – mostly injury-prone this season – Barca will have no choice but to pay Arsenal’s price in summer 2012 as a replacement to Xavi.
And FAbregas cna only made this happen if he rediscovers his scintillating froma dn play as he can to establish hismelf as the finest midfielder in Europe, that no team can do without him and by summer 2012, Fabregas can make Barca crawl to him to beg him join Barca instead of the other way round making Cesc paid to join Barca!
Has Faregas got no pride and need to beg Rossell to buy him?
The best strategy Fabregas and his aget cna do now is to start negotiating with Real or Milan or CITEH or Chelski indicating that if BArca does not want him, then next summer 2012, he is prepared to move elsewhere to earn at least 200,000pw..if Arsenal ended up with another trophyless season.
In actual fact, Fabregas is killing off his chance to return to Barca by refusing to move to another club.
His agent should take a leave from the “Negotiation for DUmmies” written by Rooney’s agent on how to get a “transfer move” to the club of his choice by making cow’s eyes to other suitors.
If Fabregas wants to return to Barca in summer 2012, he must do this two things:
1 – Play regular 1st team football at EMirates with all his heart, with hsi feirce drive to win, prompting and haraguing hsi team-mates to perform on the pitch, be that FULCRUM that dominate midfield, to rediscover his passing ranges and to rediscover his knack of spottign an opening a split-second beofre his opponent.
2 – COntinue improving and developing such that he displaces Xavi as the lynchpin in SPain Euro2012 squad. That is, he matured into a complete MDIFIELD GENERSL at EMirates this season.
Then by summer, Fabregas’ agent will send a “take it or leave message” to those Barca puta that he is negotiating a contract extension with Arsenal FC, start talkign to any marquee club that is interested in Fabregas..or Barca meets Arsenal’s sellign price with by the way had risen to 50-mil in 2012….
Success on the ptich with Arsenal thsi season is the only way that BArca will beg Fabregas to return by matching Arsenal sellign price of course.
Watching united yesterday made me think. How can we compete with them? They switched out both ferdinand and vidic without conceding afterwards.. could we do the same? I Just cannot see how we ardd going to compete with them 🙁
I theoretically agree with this formation, but will it work in practice? I am not sure if it can work out with traore, it’s too offensive?
……Szczesney
….Sagna…………Djourou………Vermaelen
………………….Song
…Rosicky…………Wlshere…………Traore
….Walcott……….Van Persie…….Gervinho
What about this formation?
Szczesney
sagna……………..Djourou…. Verm………Traore
song Wilshere
Walcott………….Rosicky ………. Gervinho
VP
which turns to 4.1.2.3 when on attack. Wilshere may go up the the field close to Rosicky than Song while Rosicky as a playmaker.
Sorry for any delays with first posts as they all go into moderation, Stu the *C* word takes you into spam its the only banned word on here due to the ladies around…! I agree with what you’ve said though..!
How can a civilised use the C word is beyond me? We all know that our mothers were more than C word.
I TELL YOU WHAT I’M SUSSING THE ROLE GIRVIHNIO IS GUNNA PLAY AND ITS GENIOUS. Whats happening is he is switching flanks every now and again to mess with oppositions minds …and then even going to the center as a main striker when v persie is too up field….its class. ALSO….nice sweeper formation idea you have class…but no no no rosiscky dosn’t get first picks lol thats madness…here’s my updated one on that…considering what i just said and all.
…………………….Szczesney
….Sagna……………Cahill……………Gibbs
…………………. .Vermaelen
…Nasri………Wlshere/fabregas…………Arshavin
….Walcott……….Van Persie…….Gervinho
also that joel cambell looks tidy….i cant wait to see him play….hopefully can be our second tire striker.
It’s quite a descriptive derogatory word to use if your annoyed with someone Osi and as long as it’s not said on here as the “C” word then people can say what they want..!
I think far to much emphasis is being placed on formations….! We simply do not have a very good defensive midfielder in what ever formation is suggested, if the team defended as a unit and attacked as a unit formations for all intense and purposes go out the window..!
Pheonix….. We’ve not even bought Campbell yet so don’t get to excited…!
Morning all.good read.have we signed anyone yet?
Hola WATH
or if fab goes then…..i sware to god if we get another leathal striker ..then the league would be ours in this formation…as you know vermaelen likes getting forward and is a leathal tackler of the ball..and song will have competition and they could switch as well so we more fresh…you know this looks good just admit it lol 🙂
dam i should be manager lol
…………………….Szczesney
….Sagna……………Cahill……………Gibbs
…………………. .Vermaelen
…Nasri…………….Wilshere…………mata
….Walcott……….Van Persie…….Gervinho
and w.a.t.h…..yes joel cambell will be ours…keep with the news. just wait and remember my words.
Morning Lee… hows u fella..? KT….! Yeh we’ve signed hmmmmm yes well I’ve forgotten his name….!
Pheonix, Just like Mata was signing the other week as well….! When the fella has an Arsenal shirt on I’ll believe it, untill then it’s just rumour and gossip…!
no…. mata just talk but its cool to play with the idea…joel cambell is fact though….just wait and i’ll meet you on here in the future when we sign him. so have a coffee and chill…cause arsenal will be a force this season,i’m telling you now.
Hi WATH….I might do something to myself if lescrooge spends that much on an unproven striker…just what we need…….another teenager! We need better…flog that creep nasri to city and get mata….how hard is that…..hi DK, didn’t see you there…..
Maybe if we employ or sign a few Jedi we may well be a force but our manager has seemed to of yet again neglected the huge problem that is our useless defence.
As i said to you last week Stan, even Mata isn’t a priority, two centre backs are…! add a proper defensive midfilder to those two and then Mata and we’d then be competative. Whats the chances though..? As i’ve always said come Sep 1st we’ll know..!
Could our new signing by any chance be mental strengzz?does he have intewesting quality?;)
Yeah all ok WATH, can’t get too excited about anything at the moment….Joel Campbell to be the marquee signing then? Hooray!!
well its nothing we can do about it…thats life. even if we had a leathal defense there is no facts that we gunna win the league. cause there is quite a few other strong teams compeating now if anyone didnt notice. you need luck as well. but wenger doing a good job…and if people start realising what he’s done for us while getting a new stadium and staying top four on pennys!!!this man is a genious and people should start realizing that bar fergie himself then this kinda thing isn’t happening.
No chance WATH wenger won’t get a DM…..he’s already got song frimpong and coquelin…..most people just don’t get the way wenger thinks. The guy is delusional……to him frimpong and coqelin are ready for the big time and we all know they are not! What does wenger drink in the morning..
yes i know he has money now…and he will spend, but dont go acting like you all know whats happening behind the scenes and what the situation is cause knowone knows. wenger will strenthen and that joel cambell looks class and will be class. i can see by the way he moves and how he shoots at goal which under wenger this guy will be a gem! even if we come like third and win fa cup or something this season then thats cool cause this is gunna be a hard season.and if i am right then if you aim humble then better things start happening…thats fact.
I like your faith Pheonix, you’ll find noone on here expects trophies but would be nice to compete when we pay a fortune to watch our team, most of us on here have been around many decades and were around when we were crap. Wenger and the board have told to many lies the last few years and thats the problem with whats going on and the fact he will not accet he’s been wrong hinders progress. He needs to put things right very quickly.
Nice one KT, if only he could sign zee mental strength….! Market signing Lee, what ever it is Stan I want some 😉
The mancs played very well yesterday.they signed their players early enough to allow them to settle and they’ll reap the rewards for it.we should be proactive like them in the market not being reactive.even if we sign players now it will be difficult for them to bed in with no proper preseason.
arsenal still entertain though. that game against barcelona where we beat them 2 v 1 was the most exciting arsenal game i have watched…i so wish that was the final…imagine that? but hey lifes life. we will do better this year peeps…keep the faith and lets not be a laughing stock no more and stick beside wenger for one last year….and see what he’s got up his sleeve..cause if he’s still doing what he’s doing when its not the obvious then he’s got a master plan and knows something.keep faith.
cause if we just moaning at our team and booing them then even the crap ones will be playing even crapper…being posative never hurt anyone…it was the negative ones that fall..success always comes to the ones who think clearly. so lets balance the media out and shout loader at the stands and cheer louder then anyone elses team has ever shouted and lets win a fcking trophy.
I don’t think I’ve ever read such inane rubbish about formations and how well we are set up to do.Firstly a club generating our profits should not be scrabbling around like this and secondly the thought of the likes of Traore playing and Walcott and Rosicky staying fit for more than two weeks is utterly spurious.
If you are going to pick a team at least include Ramsey and Gibbs (and Gibbs is very injury prone.)We have very weak back-up.Wenger is Scrooge personified.Dann is a good player Mertesacker far too slow and I agree with the original author that the Oxlade-Chamberlain purchase shows just how warped Wenger’s priorities are. We have a Champions League qualifier in a week, nine players injured and a manager who seems to have utterly lost the plot.It would not surprise me if we struggled to finish in the Top 8 this year and it’s all the fault of the money obsessed french accountant who controls everything
L’Equipe are reporting nasri has agreed a £185k a week contract with city.
Agreed KT, Also though that all of a sudden they have a much younger squad as well…! Cleverly made a big impact 2nd half, the fella was busy got involved tracked back made tackles and is creative…! They played nice footie as well. Spot on with getting the deals done early, we have wenger dithering over an extra 5quid and lose out, whats this with sending scouts to watch players now surely thats been done to death…? If you don’t know the players you want then what are people getting paid for..?
I hope its also for 22/25million KT……! Thats a shit load of money to pay someone who plays half a season 😉
The are rumours that we have booked a medical for that oxlade fella.if thats true then it shows that wenger has learnt nothing :(.he is neglecting the defence and seems to be obsessed with buying youth players.
Blowing £12mil for another forward who happens to be another prospect is unforgivable when we have much more pressing concerns.if this happens to be true i’ll be left fuming ;>
12mil on a kid and yet moans abt paying 15mil for a 25yr old experienced premier league England international centre back…..!
As you say KT seems as if nothing has been learnt, same shit different year…!
Missed Alvarez over £500k…
It seems like chamberlain is the super super quality he was talking about last week 🙁
happy day….nasri on his way out! Yipeee!!!
No KT you are wrong….our super signing is sneijder. You heard it here first gentlemen….*winks*
I used to hold arsene to such a high esteem but not anymore.he even makes the most ridiculous statements nowadays like 2nd place is a trophy…we are not defensively weak…they are working sleepless nights on transfers…its a very sad sitiuation we are in :(.
Are you sneijder in disguise goonster?8-)
If he goes and gets Mertesacker and Cahill plus the 2 other “kids” then I would not be so bothered Mertesacker and Cahill would prob be spot on…!
We don’t need Sneijder plus also him and RVP can’t stand each other !!
Stan, don’t get to excited again please don’t want you getting all upset again if he doesnt get sold, we’re still waiting 4 big head Bendy to go so to the spanish waiter and Ebooie…… and still we wait..!
TTG, you forgot to add the highly paid money obsessed french accountant…!
I lost faith after he messed up the substitutions in 06 champions league final against Barcelona…he’s lost it.
As for Mertesacker TTG yep slow he is but he has a good footballing brain adn reads the game well, Adams was slow as well, he aint played 75 times for the krauts if he’s crap has he..?
Yes WATH…..as a matter of fact I am SNEIJDER.
Stan was in town last week.is it far fetched to assume that he came in to sanction the cash for transfers and thats why arsene charles ernest wenger said we’ll buy this week?…naah!they were probably toasting to increase in profits as they lined up the cash in their pockets.
Kt he won’t get two CBs not when he’s got “skilless shit”….I tell ya this man needs psychiatric help. Somebody gag him please!
KT, he came in to tell wenger to get rid of the crap and hurry up about it so they can have a nice Xmas party and share up the extra cash they make b4 the window closes…!
Well it seems you on yer bike to the mancs Mr Sneijder 🙂
Wath shame on you!A rsene is 100 times the accountant rednose will ever be!;)
Hey hold on WATH….do you really believe wenger will actually get a “marquee signing”…..please we ll probably end up with another french twat.
Sorry KT, my apologies mate 😉
Stan, I don’t believe anything anymore, seeing is believing, we’ve been fed such crap for years now and as I’ve said before talks cheap I wanna see action and players brought in that we need, his excuses are beyond out of date and running thin I want to see some intent and ambition but sadly I think it’s gonna be a nother poor wondow with weaknesses yet again left unfixed. I’ll be the first to say well done IF he addresses these weaknesses but its not looking good is it.
Hey has anybody actually seen this kid chamberlain play…..is he any good? Better than what we have? Walcott that is?
Why does Arsene keep telling us he is active in the market when we all know he is doing f**k all in it?he thinks he is so clever but he has been found out.
That’s what he does best KT…..like jaguar will say” he’s a senile mug”…..there’s someone over at legrove actually named “wenger the liar” its catchy ain’t it….think I ll change my name to that.
How about Ass n venger wath?
LMAO…..KT rocks! Ass and venger! Good one.
Well KT its not all him mate the board are mostly to blame and they’ve lined their pockets very nicely, wenger may well of been very very busy but he’s always after the cheap options always looking to not pay the going rate so we miss out it seems. The backroom staff are also still the same and what else does that tell you…… all yes men…!
Guys am waiting……respond please. How good is oxpan chamberpot? Better than Afobe? Or walcott? Cause if he’s not then its a total waste of transfer funds and wenger has a lot of explaining to do.
Have you seen his latest comments on Arse.com?he is saying we’ll try to sign players before the season starts…yeah right!he started from early june, late june, early july, late july and now this.if we sign no one this week that will be it for this window.
I have not watched oxo cube play goonster.
morning all…if i had to sum up my feeling towards the upcoming start of the season in one word, i would say “apprehensive”…i don’t think we have had a good summer in regards to preparations and player transactions, and the cloud hanging over the club at the end of last season seems larger than it was in may…
hopefully we can resolve the cesc and nas issues sooner rather than later…and hopefully neither robin nor jack will be out for an extended period of time…if there are any new additions, i expect they will be more along the lines of campbell (someone who will not help us so much right now) rather than a mata (who can fit right into the first-team squad)…
newcastle have plenty of their own problems, so i can certainly see us winning up there. perhaps accomplishing that will give our squad the confidence to get off to a good start…
every team has their own issues, nobody is unbeatable, so perhaps this season will turn out better than the disaster i have see some predict…
have not seen oc play, so i shan’t comment directly on his quality. the only thing i will suggest is that we have more urgent needs to address than a player for the future (campbell as well) in the forward position…
Afternoon Gooners…
Sounds like you’ve all got that Monday Morning feeling.. 🙁
Wath Arsene is hugely to blame for this mess.Gazidis said that arsene determines the value of players before we place a bid.he also determines the contract length and wages which is what Gazidis should be doing.Arsene is very stubborn and as a result refuses to bid at market price instead placing bids that won’t even get considered.he has too much power and acts like a dictator.he is surrounded by yes men who will never dare to challenge his decisions.that is hindering our activities in the market so much.value of players before we place a bid.he also determines the contract length and wages which is what Gazidis should be doing.Arsene is very stubborn and as a result refuses to bid at market price instead placing bids that won’t even get considered.he has too much power and acts like a dictator.he is surrounded by yes men who will never dare to challenge his decisions.that is hindering our activities in the market so much.
Maybe the £185k per week, reportedly offered to Nasri, can give us a clue as to what we’re up against now?
Kt I stopped reading his comments a while ago….he only seem to spout shit which in turn sets the media vultures loose to have a crack at us….am sorry guys but am really beginning to seriously hate him…..just last week during the EMS cup I turned away from the screen whenever it shows his face…..I just can’t stand him anymore. He’s really turning into a hate figure not just over there in england but every where.
Speaking of catch phrases i love this one:Love Arsenal Hate Wenger.
Hey the KEV is in the building….hiya kev.
It’s not the best start to the season, having three starters on the injury table and another two starters wanting to leave.
Hiya Stan…… hate Wenger……?
Come on now mate….
Wath is right, wait until Aug 31st/Sept 1st to vent you spleen.
Hi AK.now sky sports understand that chamberlain is having a medical…FFS!Get ready to hear of how he has intwesting qualities, short backlift and bucketloads of mental strengzz…pfft.i hate you wenger!
here is something that should cheer everyone up…i just checked the squad page on the dot com and a certain manuel almumia is listed as our number one goalkeeper. the page has been updated with photos of players in this year’s kit. jenkinson is officially number 25, with miyaichi and gervinho still without squad numbers.
that is a bit of a red herring, however, as almunia’s photo still shows him in last year’s kit. i think it is clear that he is not in the club’s plans, so i am not sure why he is still on the page. perhaps when a decision is made on who will get the number one jersey (surely has to be in the next couple of days), al’s photo and profile will be removed for good…
of course, there is still a possibility that he will not go anywhere, and will be part of the squad again. would you completely rule that out?
Don’t know much about Oxo-Bovril, but if a tight-wad like AW is gonna spend a lot on him, then i guess he has to be a decent player…
KT, chill-out buddy, it’s not you to go ape-shit.
Just because we sign Oxo today, doesn’t mean we won’t sign Dann or whoever tomorrow mate.
PS I don’t really hate wenger nor does goonster.lets call it disappointed love…call it disappointed love…
ESPN are reporting oxo-cube is having a medical right now.
KT, your not a great fan of Mertesaker…
£6million [if that’s true of course], seems a good price for a defender who features regularily in the German team.
What’s he like in the air?
Is a bit of a German Brick Shit-House, liable to do a job at the Brittania for example?
KT, do you reckon that Oxo can play thru the middle?
Oliver, did you see any of the Benfica game?
If you did, then what do you think, taking both halves [eg teams] into consideration.
According to young guns oxo agreed personal terms in the summer and was handed the no.33 shirt.it looks like he is coming after all.was handed the no.33 shirt.it looks like he is coming after all.
10 goals in 34 games isn’t a bad return for a 17 year old!
Maybe the sale of Nasri will finally free up the finance for Wenger to move in the transfer market…?
Afternoon AK…. How’s you mate…? 12mil for a kid with potential is yet another huge risk when we have far more important needs that should be addressed the very same needs that should of been addressed 3/4 years ago…! Not seen Oxo-cube Stan so no idea who he is better than or are we just buying “potential” yet again..???
£185k a week is an obscene amount of money for Nasri.
I won’t be sorry to see the back of him…
FFP, that’s increasingly looking like a sick joke!
i had to dvr it because espn deportes only showed it at 1 am sunday morning…first half was pretty good, although we were a bit shaky defensively…second half was a shambles, although it must also be acknowledged that benfica had a stronger side than in the first half, while we had a clearly weaker side.
i have no problem with arsene giving the reserve players a run-out in the second half – we still need to figure out what many of these players have and who complements who…a win would have been nice, but not of paramount importance to me…
with this said, i am concerned that we still do not look defensively cohesive…tv and jd were shaky in the first half and i didn’t think sagna was sharp at all…in fact, i would say our best defender was gibbs, who many would have tabbed the weak link…it is worrying that two of our more experienced players were culpable for the goals – verm was very, very poor for the first goal, and i don’t think it is necessary to dissect squil’s part in the second goal – we have seen this too many times from him…
i didn’t think our midfield functioned particularly well, either…song was all over the place, ramsey was anonymous and rosicky didn’t play that well…we’ll always miss the likes of cesc and jack, but the former has not kicked a ball for us yet this season, and we are now seeing life without him (and nas)…
a lot to ponder, and i don’t think we are in good shape ahead of this season…
good post
hi all,
rumours are saying that chamberlien kid has passed his medical……
sorry to say this wenger has completely lost it….
Wath, how ya going buddy, keep on missing ya…
I think his age may not be the big issue.
Remember Anelka was a 17 year old when he joined us.
I don’t think AW would shell out so much dough if he wasn’t [ugh] ‘a super talent’ or whatever nonsense he comes out with.
And we do need strengthening in the attack dept imo.
As for the 185k a week AK who cares…. let them have him as I’ve always said its not about who we lose its about who we bring in but thats back to square one cos thats where we seem to have a huge problem, with the 25man squad rule the chavs n citeh can only buy so many players and lets be honest there are a great many players out there better than 4/5 that currently take up places in out squad and when wenger says only super super quality is that whats needed to be better than squilli or bendtner or almunia or ebooie or Song …? thats just naming a few…! when he comes out with rubbish like that makes you wonder if he does indeed take us all for complete idiots…?
oc having medical, 12 million move imminent is now being reported at several outlets…
another for the future…at the expense of the present?
Oliver, how about planning for the future….. Oxo cube in ready for walcotts departure next summer when he has had enough of project youth…???????
hey guys,what’s new? Anynews?
sounds like a vicious cycle to me…
as long as we don’t completely ruin oc – such as turning him into what chamakh currently resembles – then he should either become a regular in the first team squad, or be sold on for a nice profit a few years down the road…
Re: £185k p.w. I don’t care Wath, good riddance i say.
But they’re the kinds of salaries that Cittie can wave under the noses of our players…
Next summer….. £200k p.w. waved under Jack’s nose..?
How ffs can we compete with the economics of the looney-bin?
OMG are you guys for real! We actually paid 12m on a kid! Lord give me strength….what about the defense….what about cahill jag or samba? That’s it am joining the wenger out brigade
STAN, chill-out mate.
You can bet that we’ll sign a defender by the end of the week.
YG are reporting that we will sign alex tonight. 12 Million pounds. Unless hes a mix between messi and ronaldo, wenger is a lunatic
if the reports are accurate and we have loosened the purse strings to acquire oc, perhaps there is some impending outbound movement as well…
Kev,did you say end of the week? Dude we play newcastle at the end of the week…..sheesh. Wenger is driving me nuts..
Dream on oliver…..we just bought our marquee signing for the year..if I know wenger we ll be getting a crap defender from the french league….wenger out.
AK, when we buy these foreign players who leave their home towns and home teams we have half created the monster, they have no loyalty to us if they have left their “home” team so what ever big money is offered they’ll be looking to move on its now the nature of the beast, wenger thought bringing them in young enough would make them “Arsenal players” but it’s not like that. Jack however has been with us since he was 9yrs old he would be a different case BUT how long before he is tempted if all wenger ever does is buy young 16/17 year old players and keeps going on about a young team when he then sells the experienced players cos they want success as well as money…! As Oliver says vicious circle that needs addressing with a strong core of experience and class.
The Evening Standard are quoting £5M plus add ons/ incentives… A bit similar to Walcott’s transfer?
actually, i didn’t say that we would be getting anyone else in. rather i speculated that if we are (if reports are accurate) forking out 12 mil on oc, that may indicate that outbound movement (i.e. cesc, nas, or nik) may be imminent as well…
to be perfectly honest, i was not even expecting us to sign oc…possibly campbell and done…
Stan, wenger will never be sacked by the board with a week to go b4 the season. Also makes it far to hard for anyone who would come in as well as they’d have little time to buy and be left with whats there now. This is his crunch season and if it goes pear shaped like it could if he doesnt address the defence then his judge me in May comments that he’ll no doubt spout in January may well come true and be his last may in charge. We’d need someone new from May to put things right, lets hope at some point very very soon he sees the error of his ways and buys what we need and until Sep 1st I’ll hang fire on calling for his head or judging him prematurely.
SYG, they apparently tuned down 5mil plus add-ons last week and were holding out for at least 6mil up front plus the add-ons
http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/9670/8/exclusive-mclintock-arsenal-should-sell-fabregas-and-nasri
Mclintock Arsenal through and through and says it how it is….. A man who says what the fans are thinking and mentions us paying big money to watch them and expecting a little something in return…! Couldn’t of said it better… Well said big Frank…!
Hiya WATH
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard-sport/football/article-23976566-arsene-wenger-fights-off-rivals-for-saints-teenager.do?
In reality no-one really knows the insides out outs of the clubs transfer dealings as everything is always “Undisclosed”.
Arsenal wouldn’t pay an obscene amount for a relatively “untested” 17yo.
I remember Wenger being interviewed and a fee of £10M was mentioned for Henry… Wenger stated: “We paid a lot less than that for him.” …
Arrghhhh am so angry..a season in which we need a couple of classy CBs we ended up with a teenager….its unbelievable…who makes decisions in this club?
I hear ya SYG, I read that article and just seems funny those figures were quoted over the weekend as being turned down but as you say all papertalk what ever way you look at it BUT still a lot of money to be spending on a “kid” when we need proper men to resolve our weak defence and we won’t or don’t seem prepared to pay the going rate for the players we need
I’m with you on that.
I’m still optimistic on Jagielka and Cahill.
As has been said (a lot) – they’ll both be at the club tomorrow…
Who has seen this guy play? Is he any good? If he’s not better than afobe then questions should be asked of this club’s ambition.
SYG, I dont want Jagielka, I like him but he’s 30 next birthday so whats the point rather get Cahill and the kraut and or try get an eastern european centre back hard as nails and good technically…! He has ignored the defensive midfielder for a few years as well and we could still do with one of those…! That would make the spine of the team miles stronger but yet again whats the chances 2%……..??
We’ll still be getting a defender. All those who messed on the floor can clean up after themselves please.
I feel really bad for OC – one of THE top young BRITISH players, a great signing for the club and gets in to a pile of abuse from “fans”.
If he turns out to be a great player for us, I’d like to see all the abusers rounded up and dealt with.
Good interview with Frank, that guy bleeds red & white.
No idea of percentages WATH. The PR dept. at Arsenal is crap.
Shit, is that the dreaded “C” word?
Phil Jagielka is 29 next birthday. In 7 days time.
Jagielka is an Arsenal-type player who is seen as the best player at his club and who was unlucky to miss out on player of the year before he had that bad injury.
At 29, you’re in your prime. Another 5 years at the top if you live right.
Sav, i don’t think it’s an anti-Oxo reaction, it’s because people on here want a defender signed, it’s just frustration mate.
Who exactly is abusing Oxo……???? Seems everyone is clear on the fact they’d prefer experienced defenders before yet another 17yr old with potential….! The way wenger has done his business so far leaves himself wide open for comments relating to still not addressing our defensive issues…!
Sorry SYG thought Jags was 30 this next birthday, At that age 10/12 million though for me not 15odd….. I’d take the kraut over Jags as long as we also got Cahill. Proper Arsenal man is Frank eh AK and he’s spot on..!
Piss funny all the headlines re Mertesacker. German star issues “come and get me plea to Arsenal” what crap all he’s said is he wants to play in the premier league and hasn’t mentioned a team at all yet the headlines throw our name into the mix….!
Mertesacker?
Let’s face one fact from lst seasons and previous 3 seasons.
After Sol left and Senderos destroyed by Drogba, we dn’t have “muscles” in our centre to stop English forwards like Carroll or Zamora or even defenders like Terry, Vidic or Hagelaand running in late, brushing Djourou aside and heading the balls.
Even Vermaelen who has a magnificient leap are being outmuscled in English Football.
I see Mertesacker signing has more chance than Cahill or Samba as:
1 – He is 26 year old, right age group, German internaitonal, tonnes of expereince, especially man-makring techniques in Bundesliga…and against tall and muscular Bundesliga players.
2 – He is a far cheaper option than overpriced premiership players and right in Wenger’s comfort zone with a £6 Million price tag.
3 – What was stopping his previous transfer was his unwilingness to leave Germany. But now, he had expressed an eagerness to play in England, and I think Arsenal is the only Top-4 English club that will bid for him.
4 – He may lack pace, slow on the turn, but hey, did Adams, Terry and Hagelaand have pace and quick turning radius??
Experienced CB overcame their lack of pace and “slowness” by their expereince in good positional sense, anticipation and the ability to form a formidable partnership with their CB partner. Partnership is the key to defending liek the Fab-4 which took years to d evelop that understanding amongst themselves as well as with Seaman.
During the first few seasons under Wenger, Fab-4 was also leaking goals and Adams complained to Wenger he needed protection from Midfield. And that was whne Wenger switched Petit to sit in front of Bakc-4 with Vieira furtehr up and vice-versa when one of ’em wnet rampaging into opponnent box.
One of the main reason why Back-4 leaked so many silly and unnecessary goals is simply lack of protection from SOng, who sometimes think he is Messi, dribbling and driving into opponent box leaving acres of empty space between Back-4 and Centre-Line.
FIx that and with a 6′ 5″ experienced CB anchoring the centre of our Defence, we can easily reduce 50% of those silly goals we cocneded last season.
I see a 6′ 5″ Mertesacker essential in our Back-4 simply as a rock to withstand those charging ram of a burly English forwards like Carroll, Zamora and Kevin Davies jumping into you face with elbows, shoulders and knees.
Mertesacker has the height, bulk and experience to standup to those charging rams as well as that intimidatign presence to win those headers and lob balls into out box.
I prefer Senderos over Djourou as Senderos is wiling to throw his body on the line to stop all shots and will not be brushed aside by the likes of Kevin Davies or Zamora..but pity he is mentally weak with Drogba and Yakubu brushing him aside.
Djourou is just a wimp with poor positional sense, poor anticipation, falling down easily and simply all at sea and panicky in defence….
I will place Mertesacker ahead of DJourou, Koscielny and Squillaci. The quickness of Vermaelen will complement Mertesacker.
1st CHoice – Vermaelen-Mertesacker
2nd CHocie – KOscielny-Mertesacker
3rd Chocie – Vermaelen- Koscielny
4th Choice – Vermaelen-Djourou
But looking at Vermaelen during pre-season, I am a tad worry about him.
Will he suffer “2nd season syndrome” like Sagna?
Scintillating during 1st seasona dns trugled during 2nd season.
Last season does not count as “2nd season” as TV was out injured season-long. Effectively, it is TV 2nd season.
Boo!! You sound exasperated, rico. 😉 I guess we all are.
Another young ‘un, I see. Can’t say I’m displeased, but I still want two defenders. I see so much as the shadow of Squillaci, and I get nervous.
Hello, all. 🙂
Good comment Merlin, Mertesacker been around the block and would be a move in the right direction for sure but I’d also take Cahill as well as am also worried about JD…! Cahill also puts himself on the linbeso to speak.
Good comments Merlin.
Price, height, bulk, experience, Mertesaker seems to fit the bill.
Cahill would be great Wath, but AW isn’t gonna spend £17m, sadly.
Hiya agag, is it still raining on your side of the planet.. 😉
Merlin – liked the bit about Song.
1st name on the team sheet eh? and he admitted complacency against the “lesser teams”, possibly when he goes into “Messi-mode” and gets caught….
In a 5-man midfield supposedly full of “artistry”, nobody really wants the job of “cleaning the brushes”, apart from Song.
Oxalde-Chamberlain?
I think he will be 18 year old this season?
Hey, a 17-year old Trevor Francis and a 17-year old Tony Cottee was regular 1st teamer.
If you are good enough, you are old enough.
Wenger may field him like a 18 year old Anelka, starting as a sub..and gradually on the starting list.
You never know how a youngster will devleop and Wenger may get lucky with Oxo who may slot into the team seamlessly and take in Arsenal playing style like duck to water..lol
Imagine, late in the game, Wenger decided to switch Theo into centre in 4-4-2 and Oxo as right flank with Gervinho at left-flank..
……Sagna……Metesacker…..Vermaeen……Traore
.
……Oxo……..Song…….WIlshere………Gervinho
…………………..Van Persie
…………………………………….Walcott
Oxo-Theo-Gervinho will tear a tired defence with their blazing pace in last 20 minutes of the game.
And Thoe will be playing in his favorite position driving right down the throat of defenders with plenty fo space to go left or right side with his “push-and-run” style at speed.
And Van Persie sitting nicely in that “Bergy’s Hole” another deadly predator with his running from deep and deadly shooting skills from outside the box.
We need Wilshere to develop into a “Guardiola” with defensive steel and fine reader of game to anticipate counter-attacks and dominate middle and launches swift counter-attack with a wide range of accurate passes.
Let’s hope Oxo is another 17 year old Anelka….or 17 year old Trevor Francis…
Afetrnoon all, guess we are all excited about the young man having a medical 🙂
Armand Traore called up by Senegal.
Another one disappearing in January???
Hi Rico, everything ok..?
Merlin, that’s a post right there! Hey WATH, old man. How are you? AK, no rain. Yay! But I hear there’s a typhoon just around the corner.
Hi Kev – just busy busy 🙁
If he is still with us in Jan 😉
Evening AGAG hows the housecleaning going ?? I have some ironing for you if you want…! Hope you not got webbed feet from all that rain..!
Hi all, rico how is everything? you still waiting to see the super super quality? the last time i heard that we got peanut head.
who do you think is better miyachi or oxdale….
AF, you cant compare the two players none of us have seen enough of either player to say who is better but hopefully they both become great wingers but currently the problem persists that we need defenders not just us buying more kids with potential that may or may not come to fruition.
A typhoon agag eh, not much happening then?
Sounds a bit dull to me…. 8)
agree with u 100% wath, our problem…defence our solution….. another forward. i dont mind getting rid of nasri but it should not be to another prem team.
Hi Coadsi, still waiting, same as all of us 🙁
See Diarra could be on his way to that lot down the road…..
Cahill?
I think Bolton had priced him out of the market by demanding £20M.
Even Liverpool, Chelski and CITEH are not biting.
That leaves Arsenal who I suspected ahd offered “take it or leave it” £15M and Wenger had turned his attention to Europe to perhaps buy 2 no. CB at £10M to £15M.
That is, two no. European CB for the price of one “Cahill”.
If Cahill is to joined Arsenal, Wenger will be up to his usual trick and made a final offer of £15M to £17M at 23.59 hours on August 31.
Remember he did not blinked and signed Arshavin at his offered £15M, refusing to pay more than that, resulting in only Arsenal submititng a bid; with Barca and other teams not interested to submit a bid.
With Cahill, I see a similar “Arshavin” situation with Wenger refusing to pay over the odds and there is alwasy January Transfer Window to bid again.
And meantime, Wenger is eatching the development of Koscielny, Djourou, MIquel and Bartley from August to December before he will make another bid to sign Cahill or Samba.
DO not hold too high a hope of Cahill signing now.
It is all brinksmanship and see who blink first.
And why Owen Coyle complaining Wenger is “toying with Cahill’s head” on this transfer saga..like Barca is toying with Fabregas’ head.
also we need a defender with prem experience and i am not talking about Dann either
If L diarra and Adebayor join our deprived neighbour, throw Defoe into the mix..and hopefully Barton joins ’em as well…….what a dressing room…..and X’mas party…..lol
Tabliod reporters wil make a permament camp at WHL.
Miyaichi by a mile! Why did you even bother comparing them.
Coadsi, which premiership defender will love to join Arsenal?
Hagelaand turned us down.
Jagielka turned us down.
Those chicken farmers at Blackburn immediately slapped a £12M premium price on Samba…who just signed a new 5-year contract.
Similarly, Coyle slapped a £20M price tag on Cahill.
Care to name any prem CB who love to join Arsenal?
Alex from CHelski?
Micah Richards from CITEH?
Agger from Liverpool?
Try for Hagelaand again?
Hi Merlin, sorry i haven’t got round to posting your articles yet 🙁
Bartley has gone for the season, not sure if we have a call back clause in the loan deal, i’m not convinced on Miguel either, he’s a bit lightweight, maybe too much like Kos ….
Not terribly exciting, AK. 🙂 I mean, it could be a supertyphoon. 😀 I’m pretty excited about Oxo and Campbell, to be honest. I’d be over the moon if we got two defenders and Mata. 🙂
Sure, old man. Send them over, if you like your clothes adorned with scorch marks and holes. 😉
Boo, rico! Where have you been? Hey Coadsi. How are you?
😆 Merlin….
RYo is not proven yet.
He is slim-built and will not survive the bashing he will get in English Football. He has yet to develop upper body strength like Park JS, and Park has a low cnetre of gravity unlike 1.83-tall Ryo with a high CG, easily brushed off the ball by English defenders.
Reyes was literally destroyed by ManU hard and dirty tackling, and he is more muscular than Ryo.
You think Ryo is better than Reyes?
Boo to you agag, my Mum had a few hosp appoints today so been back and forth – in for the rest of day though 🙂
I think Oxo will prove to be a very good signing but, we need to stop leaking goals, we need a defender or two…
Re Mertesaker, at least he’s been there, done it and got the t-shirt 🙂
A very long T-shirt to say the least 😉
Rico, no prob.
Maybe out-dated too as circumsatnces had overcoem events which outdated my previous articles….:D
A super typhoon…huh, i wouldn’t get outta bed for a super typhoon…. 😀
Now the wrong kinda snow, that’s a serious situation… 😉
Merlin, Cahill has a 17mill buyout clause BUT his contract is in its last season so wenger prob thinking not gonna offer more than 12/14 BUT this fella is exactly what we need and at 25 is only gonna get better and would offer on-sale value if we wanted to sell for what ever reason in 3/4 yrs time…! Maybe we call Boltons bluff offer 10/12mil and say well in Jan we can talk to him and get him to agree to sign for free next season so take it or leave it…!
Your mum better, rico? The more we buy, the less space there would be for D&D. 😉
It’s not all about the size Merlin, Reyes lacked the fighting mentality he gave up far to easy, Ryo seems up for the fight and isnt shy to get stuck in….! Holland isn’t a soft league and the boy did pretty well over there so i reckon its all about how you handle the rough stuff certainly not how big you are..!
Merlin – I wouldn’t bear any credence on Jagielka turning us down. He’s a loyal “player”, but he would be nothing short of a mug to turn down the chance of joining a club like ours. Any decent player from the second, third of fourth tier of the Premiership would more than consider a move to Arsenal.
“Paper talk” is fuelled by rumours and reporters surfing blogs and providing misquotes and plagiarised and revamped news from yesterday’s papers.
Anyone remember the Sun running the back page story on “Arsenal get their Hot Rod” which covered the “fact” that we were in for the Argentinian striker.
Wenger knows he needs central defenders. We do, so he definitely does.
Scorched and holed clothing…… Ah the new trend…… The ironing on its way AGAG follwed by a bottle of GG as part payment…!
I really am sorry though Merlin, I was about to sort that one into three and then the phone rang….
Both legs/ankles are healing well thanks agag, 3 weeks to go and she should be out of plaster, things will be so much easier then for her…
I think Oxo has a bit of attitude too Wath, didn’t his old man have a bit about him too??
SYG, have a few mates in scouseland and they say Jags would move but his Mrs wants to stay up that way hence the noises that he’s happy at Everton….. could be crap I know but thats what they told me…!
AK, we get 25 to 30 typhoons a year. No biggie. 😉
Good to hear, rico. :)And hopefully, easier for the dutiful daughter, too. 😉
You’ll be the height of fashion, then, WATH. And I shall not even have to try hard. I don’t have a good relationship with the flart iron. 😀
rico, I thought it was just Oxo’s pa that had an attitude prob?
Merlin not getting your point entirely, are you saying because their club slap a particular price tag on a player the player dont want to join us? from your list i would take both samba and cahill. what proof do you have that they would not want to join us?

WATH, I forgot Cahill is in his last season.
Look like Wenger is doing a “Sol” or “Chamakh” ready to sign Cahill on a Bosman in January….
Wenger refused to increase his offer for Chamakh and in the end, he got Chamakh on a Bosman.
SImialrly, Wenger will refuse to increase hsi bid of 12-15-mil for Cahill with his implied threat that he is ready to sign Cahill on a Bosman in January.
That is the dilemma faced by Owen Coyle and in the ned, he will face reality and sell Cahill on August 31.
Cahill knew exactly what he is doing as comes Janaury, he is free to talk to any club to sign a lucrative contract with a fat signing-on bonus perhaps…like Sol.

S_Y Gunner, I will give Jagielka the benefit of reasonable doubt as a well-settled man and will not uproot his family to pursue his personal glory.
Perhaps he is one of the rare breed like Matthew Le Tisser who refused all richness to saty with hsi homegrown club throughout his career.
SImilarly, like Trevor Brroking who refused to move to a bigger and stayed with WHU thru’ thick and thin and fighting back from relegation to promotion back to 1st Division.
When I say attitude agag, i mean more that he’s no wuss, he won’t shirk his responsibities and won’t be afraid – unlike Reyes who let the Ugly Neville sisters bully him out of the PL
Reyes should have learned, he should have watched what happened to Bobby P in his first season, they tried to do the same but he rose above it and made them look silly with his own wonderful playing ability….
reyes is one of not many who I wish had stayed and fought… And fancy saying it was all down to the weather 😉

Coadsi, my point is that for the life of moi, barring the usual suspects, I can’t fidn any quality CB that are willing to join Arsenal.
Hagelaand turned us down.
Jageilka turned us down.
Can we afford to pay ALex’s salary if he wanted to join us?
Will Agger leaves Liverpool to join us?
That is, from the above list – including Samba and Cahill – can you name anymore quality CB that you feel we have a chance to buy ’em and persuade that CB to join Arsenal?
I can’t name anyone except Cahill, Samba, Jagielka, Agger and Alex.
And I doubt Micah Richards will ever leave CITEH as no other club can macth his salary plus he got a better chance to win soemthing at CITEH than at Arsenal.
Merlin, Chaill wants to join us, he’s said so i believe, all he is waiting for is the call from Wenger..
I also belive that Coyle knows that, his comments make me believe he is trying to hurry Wenger up…..

WATH, I hope so.
Ryo maybe that bridgehead we need to break into Asian market with a talisamnic figure that will sell merchandise there.
I hope Arsenal FC will play on the sympathies for FukuShima SUper-quake and that Japan needs an icon to lift their morale as nothing beat the good news that one of their sons is playing in premeirship with Jpanaese glueing themselves on TV every weekends and briefly forget about their despair, anger and fright over radiaiton in food chain, economy meltdown, still suffering from rebuilding effects….
Let FA and Home Offcie give something fro Japanese to cheer every weekend by issueing that work permit to Ryo.
Maybe that Japanese ambassador calls Downing Street, and the Emepror gives a private phone call to QE2…:D
Actually, Samba wants to join us too, sadly though it looks like ‘Arry will get in there first….
agag, re the dutiful daughter – it sure will 😉 😉

lol..Wenger is up to his old “Arshavin” trick..and “Chamakh” trick.
Hanging Bolton out to dry with the threat of losing 12-mil when Cahill signed a pre-contract with Arsenal in Janaury 2012….
Perhaps David Dein is speakig the truth and Cahill is dued for a medical this Wednesday….
I wouldn’t mind if Wenger snapped up Mertesacker as well……with TV as LB then….
Rico, if ‘Arry is that daft to pay over-the-odds…and with DAWSON, SOMEBODY WILL have to sit on the bench..Gallas???
merlin it does not matter if i list 10 other defenders as what u consider quality may differ from me. the point is you named 5 defenders and out of those five i named 2 that i think would be happy to play for us.
now the important point i am making is we need a defender, the club set their price, if we need one we buy one. but to pretend all is well and talking up the quality of your defense when everyone knows you are talking rubbish is just insane. its not a secret we are poor defensively and need defenders. ah-sen himself said at the end of last season we needed defenders with prem experience and what has he done so far to rectify the problem?????
So I just heard Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain is officially signed. Nothing on Arsenal.com yet.
I wish Wenger would buy him though Merlin…..
Mertesacker, Samba, Cahill Dann…
Cahill + any one of the other three and i’ll be eating humble pie 😉
Oi Oi Doc, give them a few days 😉
Wikki have him down as a Gooner 🙂
Now, let me go google Cahill ……
Cahill + any one and I’ll be shaving my head 😉
I’m sloooow today, rico. 😉
The dotcom is notoriously late for everything. I wonder how it got awards for best football website.
Can’t wait Doc Baldy 😉
You need a break agag 😉
Its official! Its on arsenal.com now !!!!
coadsi, August 31 is not over yet.
As I said I cna only named 5 no. quality CB, and you cna only named 2 no. quality CB.
That proved my point isn’t it that Wenger can’t find quality CB, barring Cahill, Samba, Jagielka, Hagelaand, Agger and perhaps Alxe as well.
Wenger said he will sign defenders….and he will at the right price.
And he will not sign any overpriced players including CB.
With TV out for the whole season, and Fabregas misisng most of the season or out-of-sort, Van Persie and Theo missed half the season, dodgy goalie….Arshavin awfully off-form, Chamakh and Nasri stopped playing for wnd half of teh season…SOng and Company gave up for last 12 games…..and yet we managed to retain Top-4 status.
That is quality…….
I will not moan nor feel depressed over thsoe dealings and always look on the bright side..and every seasons atrt, I will beleive we are in for the title challenge…
What is the point of so many negative vibes when teh season has not even kick off yet.
I will keep the faith till the Fat Lady singsloud and clear on stage.
Other than that, no point to get personal and insult each other over a difference of opinion.
We just agreed to disagree.
A coin has two sides – head and tail.
Plus a Thin Edge of Uncertainty.
oc’s signing has been officially announced on dot com
Hey, that french poodle is pretty quiet all of a sudden.
Where is Clichy?’…..lol…
Remember he was shooting his mouth off on how he wanted to win trophies (he just missed a piece of silverware) and how seriously they trained which Arsenal never did.
Bet you that that part of “serious training that Arsenal never did” is that Mancini employed a protocol coach to train ’em how to walk up the stair to collect their trophy, how to shake hands, wave to fans, smile..and carry the trophy, how not to run to fans like Adebayor did ( so dumb as to ran to the wrong end), etc.
Ok, one of the three rumoured to be signed this week is in, now for the defence….
“What is the point of so many negative vibes when teh season has not even kick off yet.”
Well its better than being negative after the season kicks off. I’m actually a big believer in staying positive (and never, ever, booing) once the first whistle blows. Why? ’cause I think the fans have a collective duty to lift their team up, rather than create a poisonous atmosphere. But during the off season, I have no problem showing my frustration! I want a CB or 2 and I want them yesterday!
ricco…the other two signings are jenkinson and gervinho…that’s it, all done…
Hi oliver, no no no no no 😉
Wenger has said he wants more 🙂
I said Wenger would buy Oxo, didn’t I, well didn’t I ???
😉 😉
the fee – as usual – is deemed “undisclosed”, leading to differing assessments. i’ve seen 12 mil, i’ve seen possibly rising to 15 mil…
accepting the low figure, that is roughly 22 million since the start of this transfer window. nothing credible regarding player movement out of the club. unless that changes quickly, i think this will be it. maybe campbell will be confirmed within the next couple of weeks. even if someone (nas?) does move, that is no guarantee we will use the funds to bring someone in.
While Doc, I finished my moaning in July calling Wenger a hypocritical snake-oil salesman and yes, I still detest him but have to swallow my pride in admitting that he is still the best man to dig Arsenal out of the hole he help to put Arsenal in it.
Season kicks off this weeknd, and I am pysching myself with positive vibes to banish all those negative vibes since February 2011……..@#$%^@@@###
I suggest moanings and negative vibes stopped this week and start building our positive vibes and getting behind Arsenal FC.
And yes, booing is a cardinal sin at home matches.
I think I’ll take that suggestion on board, rico.
Hope the defenders are on their way!!!
Nightnight, all. Hi, oliver and bye oliver. 🙂
But the key point is how much of that “sign-on” Clause that Arsenal FC had negotiated away after it was claimed that Arsenal will pay 12-mil upfront.
The last I heard of was that Saints demanded a 40% “Sign-on” fee.
ricco, arsene always implies he is active. even if he used the very words, “i want more”, he can always sit on his hands and then explain it away through “the quality we wanted wasn’t available” or “we’re happy with what we have”…what he says for public consumption is not always what he actually does…surely we should know this by now…
Guess I am in the same tiem zone as agag.
Goodnight all.
Rico………..do you have inside information??? 😉
in fact, i am wondering if the club knows something about how the decision on miyaichi’s work permit may go, and if they understand it will be denied, did that force their hand in completing oc’s signing?
nighty night agag, rest well, don’t let the new signing stop you sleeping 😉
Night to you too Merlin… rest well
Finally Arsenal get the signing we need! A 17 year old pacey winger! I take back everything I’v said so far! We’re title contenders for sure!
Oh wait… no i’m mistaking…. thats the last thing we needed at the club.. but that doesn’t make sense? Why would Arsene buy a 12m 17 year old, when our defense is a shambles? Oh thats right! Just because he can!
Well there we have it folks, there is your super quality signing that was promised, a kid who has 1 u21 cap for his country and none for the senior team, I mean thats what we have been crying out for right?! Because the last kid we took of southampton has set europe ablaze and silenced all the critics, wait again… that didn’t happen either.
Why are we shelling out the guts of 10 million, for a kid who has only played championship football? How does his signing, in anyway help our now non-existant title challenge?!
I knew this would happen, Arsene goes for exactly the opposite of what is needed. Does anyone else think, that Chris Samba could have been purchased with this money?? Also I guess he has no intention of Ryo ever playing for the club if he is will to fork of ridiculous money for Oxlade-Chamberlain. Next on Wenger’s list, Scott Dann, lets sort out that defensive problem as cheaply as possible, that worked out last year didn’t it?
You have no idea how much this has annoyed me….
oliver, why do they do the ‘undisclosed’ fee, my only guess is that it stops us fans from knowing how tight or not we are 😉
Kev, I can’t answer that, i’d have to shoot you 😉 😉
I’m not sure about that oliver, isn’t Ryo a left sided player, to be fair, Oxo has been on wengers radar before Ryo arrived i think….
ricco, i think that is exactly why – because they don’t want the fees to become public knowledge.
in the case of a signing such as oc, it is not a big deal. but – in a hypothetical case – if we cave in over cesc, do you think the club would want to publicize his sale for something below his valuation? me neither…and by making it a practice not to disclose any fees, they won’t be expected to disclose that one…and will have the cover of established practice for not disclosing such a fee…
Hi ESP
I totally understand what you are saying, Oxo is great addition but as i said in the post, if he signs at the expense of players that will sort out our defence then it’s wasted money…
The biggest question now is, is wenegr about to spend more on the right players to make our squad defensively stronger…
ricco, as i understand, oc can play on either side…in fact, the official dot com announcement suggests such…plus, his being on arsene’s radar – which i agree has been the case – for a while does not necessarily mean that the club was ready to move for him…
it may well be nothing to do with miyaichi’s situation…that’s just me speculating aloud…
good point oliver but from what is coming out of barca, i think we will know what they have agreed…
it all has to come out in the end though….
Actually i think you are right Merlin. Moaning stops NOW.
While I hope for a few more signings, our team does have the *potential* to win silverware. As you point out, we came close with an incomplete team. If we stay just a tiny bit more injury free this could be our year. Arsenal may be the most underrated team in the EPL.
Some of our players have great potential. Verm is a confirmed quality CB. I would argue that Djouru might have a stand out season this year as well. He was our best defender last year (granted thats not saying much). And lets not forget Kos. The potential is there.
In midfield, if Wilshire continues to progress (or even just plays as well as last year), that would be a huge plus. Ramsey also shows huge potential. i like how he seems to be willing to take the shot from up top, rather than that signature of arsenal (one pass too many). Rosicky has been plagued by illness, but now he’s had his tonsils removed maybe and the docs think he can stay healthy – just maybe he can return to form. Arshavin seems hungry to clean the slate on last season, but even if he looses his role as a starter, you could do worse for a back up. Walcott appeared to finally be delivering on all his promise last year – he could deliver this year. Would love to see him play inside where his speed would not be negated the way it is on the wings. If Song is willing to give support to the D – something you know he is being told to do – that will make a big difference.
Then there are the unknowns… Gervinho, Ryo, Ox. All could contribute in a big way (especially Gervinho). And the biggest unknowns, Fabragas and Nasri may very well end up staying. If either of those two commit to making this a great season, great things could happen.
Who have I left out? Sagna – just plain solid. Gibbs – ify but lets hope. Squil is what he is, but maybe he can turn it around in year 2 (wouldn’t be the first time its happened).
All and all, this is a team with huge potential. By mid season we may be saying that Arsenal are the most underrated team in the Premiership. By March, we will be biting our nails I’m sure, but there is the possibility this could be the year for the boys to break through. The fans should do everything humanly possible to lift their spirits and show belief until we are absolutely, unequivocally, mathematically eliminated.
I would have no problem with this signing if we already had in what we need, but we don’t, there is no need for spending so much on OC. We all know our defensive situation needs addition, and more than one. We still need a Defensive Midfielder, which we won’t get…
I’m still waiting for our “super quality” signing because it hasn’t arrived yet.
Awesome signing! Very exciting stuff, and he’s going straight into the first team squad.
I believe that we’ll look back on this is a momentous day for the club.
I have that new-signing-buzz right now – absolutely can’t wait to see him play for us. Now if we can get a permit for Ryo as well then this team is going to have absolutely scintillating pace!!
ricco, not necessarily…i still don’t think we know – definitively – what barca actually paid for th…plenty of speculation about the price, but i cannot recall seeing any official confirmation…
however, i do think that if barca get cesc at a price below our valuation, they will make sure they publicize. if, however, they ultimately have to pay our price, they will like not want to publicize that.
He’s here!!! Finally oxpan chamberpot is an arsenal player….yipee. Ok now am done……does any body know how good this guy is? Am looking at you Rico. Is he better than what we have? Walcott afobe etc…
Rico, you must be happy at last, or happier, Oxo first and we hope a defender next, we had said he always leaves it late, and if i speak the truth i had started to worry, or perhaps he saw my last comment last night and picked up the phone, (by the way good post)
oliver – i got that wrong then, i thought he was right sided, but knowing AW, he’ll play LB 😉
Hi Savage, how did i know you’d be over the moon 😉
goonster, i don’t know the answer to that, reports suggest he is very good but until we see him in the PL, i’d say we will have to wait and see – can’t forget he’s only 17 years old….
Hi Steve, i’m sure he’ll turn out to be a good signing but defenders defenders defenders….. That would make me happier… Yes, I know you are now worried, i’ve been worried since 2006 😉
Guys I need answers is he better than what we have….you guys have been evasive all day….how good is he,dammit? *fuming*
Hi Rico. Apparently they have him on the rack at the moment trying to stretch him out to the 6 feet 3 inch CD we need. Blimey, they are burning Hackney down now. I have to drive through there to get to the Emirates. Scary stuff. Even more so than our defense.
goonster, wikki him or google him, that’s all we have to go by….
Hi Adam, i like that 🙂
Stan, you know how carefull Wenger is at Spending money.
Now i’ve heard on the BBC that this deal could be worth up to £15million with add ons.
Would Wenger such an outlay if Oxo couldn’t play???
He might not be great at signing defenders, but he’s quite good at picking out forwards…
Thanks Rico….now lets get cahil but knowing wenger he ll probably go for a cheaper option….per mertesaeker.
The situation on the streets in London tonight is very, very serious Rico. Are you watching these news feeds?
Adam, steer clear of Mare St.
Where are you coming from?
He’ll turn out better than what we’ve got. may take a little while but he wll be good
I come from Woodford way and drop through Mare St and London Fields on the way to the ground.
That’ll be Lea Bridge Rd then yeah?
Not these days. I come over the Marshes on the motorway and drop off by the Olympic site. Lea Bridge Road is a nightmare lately.
I’d try coming around Victoria Park, do you know that area?
Goonster, i would be happy with Mertesaker right now….
Adam, I am, they are shocking, i know i hate that club down there but what is happening is just awful…..
Steve, you seen his i/v on .com, Oxo is a chuffed as punch to join us, he’s got the right words, he’s a chunky one too, thick set i mean 😉
Blooming heck – it’s AA Route finder 😆 😆 😆
Adam, you just steer clear, and you Kev, in fact anyone in that area, just be safe….
Rico, i’m at home, thankfully.
I reckon it’ll kick-off big-style when it gets dark.
I think he always wanted to come, but he’s Dad, maybe a problem.
Oxtail’s signed then…..a player that is over moon to play for “the Arsenal” let’s get a commanding CB that wants to play for us too…….
allezkev. Thanks mate. Yes, I know all these places. I come from Highbury and it still seems like my backyard. I have lots of friends in Hackney and know Victoria Park very well. Whichever way you go though you end up having to cross Hackney unless of course you go Forest road and end up in Tottenham High St. Erghh, I don’t think so. So I will hope that it all quietens down by next Tuesday evening when I have the trip to make for the first time this season. They will probably have robbed every flat screen TV, pairs of sneakers and boxes of crisps by then. Thanks for the concern. It is appreciated.
Adam, get the train…. 😉
Rico. Many thanks. Stay safe all Gooners. Allezkev. I’ll just blend into the background. Thanks mate. Off for food now. Good night all.
Well Steve, what do ya think of the ‘new-boy’…..?
I think he could be a very valuable addition to the squad.
See ya Adam.
Glad to hear that Kev…
The 3rd night on the trot, and i read today that the bullet on the cop’s radio which sparked the shoot out, which resulted in the guy getting shot – the bullet came from another cops gun….. not good news….
Steve, his Dad said we were the only club he wanted his son to move to, didn’t want him to go to pool or OT, he loves us 🙂
Night Adam….
Dad know’s best….. 😀
It’s kicked-off in East Ham
Peckham’s a mess
We need to get a nucleus of players that want to play for us….. Arsenal DNA, to coin a phrase from those pricks on the Iberian peninsular!! 😉
Lewisham also a mess
Hey RizLee, how ya doing..?
Peninsula even…..
Trouble in the Bull Ring in Birmingham…
All ok AK, no rioting/looting in colchester……yet!!
Did you get your brace of ruby’s last week AK?
You’ll be alright there mate. They’ll just get the army out….
No mate, but i’m gonna go for it this week….
I need my curry fix…… 😀
Hi Lee –
well Gerinho said he wants to play for us, lansbury loves us, Oxo only wanted to join us and we all know Cahill wants to join, so it could be good, if we get the last one….
TBH Kev, they’re the ones that normally kick off in the town every weekend!! But I know where your coming from….next tues night could be interesting!!!!
Is it on TV Lee, er ITV..?
Hi Rico, but is our tight as a camel’s arse in a sandstorm manager gonna pay up and look good?? If we get Cahill I’ll be well chuffed…
AFC.com I think….but I’m going!!
Kev, i’ll cook you one, the pataks madras paste do ya?? 😉
Riots kicked off again????
Think it’s gonna be a good game Lee.
Swansea is my first visit to The Grove
Bendtner has confirmed tonight that he’s leaving tonight at Hampden.
When asked if one of the possible interested clubs was Stoke, he laughed… Could take that either way…
Lee, so would i be chuffed as punch if wenger pulls cahill out the bag…
you going to the CL game, it may be called off if all this carries on…
Rico, what about curried pizza? 😉
I’ll give it a try….
West Croydon started off now…. West Croydon ffs…!
All those kids need a thick ear and the OB need to give em a slap instead of standing and watching…. Where’s the water cannons…. that would sort the little fuckers out, any excuse to loot and smash things up…!
Cahill should be next? Right guys?
Wath….. How could you…. How about their human rights…? 🙂
Cahill would be great Stan, his signing would certainly be a statement of intent…
Yeah Kev but do u think we ll get him?
I really don’t know mate. You simply can’t second guess Wenger.
None of us expected Oxo to be signed today…
Well only Rico, but she’s got inside information…. 😀
Knowing Wenger, we’re all going on about him signing a C/H and he’ll go and sign Benzema…
Water canons…..maybe soap as well that’d fuck em!! Yeah if it’s on Rico…..I’ve a feelin Cahill will be next!
Just watching the news on Sky, it isn’t good…..
What a mess our country is in…. round the scum bags up, put them in a field and you all know the rest..
Kev, my source says Cahill will sign on Thursday…
But Lee, you simply couldn’t fire water cannon at them, you’d spoil their Ralph Lauren designer hoodies.
No mate, when the ‘old Bill’ nick em, you’ve got to really punish them. Send them to Disneyland Paris, that’ll teach em a harsh lesson…. 😉
Rico, i’ll treat you to a veggie biriyani if you’re right… 😉
To be honest, i’ve always been too busy working to be able to spare the time to join a riot…
I mean, somebody has to finance their benefits…. 🙁
Oh lee I hope u are right….then we ll definitely tear the league a new one…
It’s true Kev, from a guy i know who works for the the club…
He won’t let me tell anyone his real name so he just calls himself HP …
😉 😉
That’s a biriyani boss. that’s a promise… 😀
Water cannon with some very strong disinfectant in it AK…. Human rights yeh tell that to the people getting burnt out of their homes and businesses……. Joke mate…!
The looters Kev, they benefit, we all get cained by the insurance companies….
The cops are at a loss, they cannot do anything, bring in the fire service and the army…..
Who is ricoi ????????
Kev – HP Sauce 😉 😉
You Baddie…. 🙂
We need a British version of the French CCS.
They have no fear of authority…
The Police are not allowed to do the job properly.
Hi Ricoi, welcome to HH… 😉
I think the police are like arsenal, too many join for the wage rather than the love of serving our queen and country….
unlike the armed services….
Lets hope bendy aint telling porkies and he’s off sharpish… one less deadwood left…. 3 to go…!
The departure of the deadwood could be easing the purse strings for some signings..?
A busy week ahead maybe???
Good idea, get back to the crap that we need to sell….
Let’s hope he’s Bolton bound…..
I think the likes of Nik, Eboue & Almunia are on the point of going, it’s just a case of AFC agreeing a fee with the interested clubs
I don’t know why ricoi is coming up, hope its nothing naughty by a PC Bug 🙁
I’ve an early morning start so best i hit the sack…..
You guys have a good evening, night all….
Ornamental fish…..
I’m outta here too, night all…..Cahill & Parker to follow 🙂
I must say i prefer haddock.
Madras? Nite all
Goodnight Rico
Sweet Dreams Lee
Yeah, i’m offski now, goodnight Wath and Stan.
Night all take it easy….! Cahill, Mertesacker and M’Vila would do me but I’m greedy…! 😉
Good morning all..
My take on Cahill signing this week?
Most of you had forgotten that in negotiations, different sets of agents and clubs will negotiate at their on pace with counter-offers all the time.
Cahill looks a sure-fired deal and maybe closed as early as this Wednesday. Look at all the “facts” from BBS and tabloids:
1 – Cahill is in his last season – like our french poodle and pretty boy. It means that Wenger may threaten Bolton with another “Chamakh” Gambit by saying “take it or leave at 12-mil else we will wait you out and sign him on a pre-condition contract in January 2012”.
2 – Rumors said he had agreed terms with Arsenal….like Chamakh, Nasri and Fabregas, only waiting for the clubs to come to an agreement.
3 – Look at the underwhelmed response from Liverpool, CITEH, ManLeeds and CHelski on this Cahill Saga. Are they also bidding for Cahill as well? Is S*CUMS bidding for Cahill as well?
4 – You read the complaint by Owen Coyle on Arsenal FC messing with the “Head of Cahill”..and yet Arsenal FC has yet to formally submit a bid for Cahill?
5 – Notice how quiet Cahill is as if both sets of negotiating party are sworn to secrecy not to reveal any detail publicly or deal is off?
6 – Just look at that Oxo Deal. It just happened out of the blues even with plenty of rumors and reports he will be leaving, Liverpool and ManU interested..then came for a medical and signed.
7 – Therefore, Cahill or Samba or Mertesacker or Mata or future deal will follow the same pattern as for Jenkinson, Gervinho and Oxo. Arsenal FC will negotiate in total secrecy, and “suddenly” player appeared to do a medical and sign, catching everybody off guard.
Surely you all knew by now that Wenger will not negotiate publicly and every targets and agents are sworn to secrecy before the deal gets off the grounds..else no deal and Wenger will not deal with that “loose mouth” of an agent no more?
Potentially, Arsene Wenger may sign any 5 players out of this list by this week, or by August 31, 2011:
1.Gary Cahill (£12 to 17 M)
2.Alex Oxade Chamberlain (£12 M)
3.Scott Dann (£7 M) – can he play LB?
4.Joel Campbell(£1 M )
5.Mertesacker (£6 M )
6.Juan Mata (£18 M )
7.Samba (£10 M )
It is quite ominous that all of sudden, there is a Great Deafening SIlence over Cahil’s, Samba’s and even Mertesacker’s Transfer Saga.
Does this means that intense secret negotiations are at last stage to seal the deal?
Similarly for Juan Mata.
Had all negotiators been sworn to silence to seal the Deal?
With the latest injury scare over TV, Djourou having a dodgy pre-season, Squillaci being Squillaci, Bartley off on loan, Kos still learning and not the finished article yet….Back-4 still all at seas and can’t deal with set-pieces, losing out on corners and ripped wide open by quick interplaying from Benefica, Wenger will be daft not to bring in ONE EXPERIENCED DEFENDER by this week.
And yes, I see Oxalde Signing as that “trigger” that will finally see Nasri leaving Arsenal, breaking the log-jam in current impasse over buying players by Arsenal FC.
That is, Wenger had found “Nasri’s replacement” and will initiate the sale of Nasri pretty quick. This will trigger a chain reaction that will finally see some of the usual suspects joining Arsenal this week.
It wil be an excellent publicity stunt – and a great morale booster to sufferring fans – if Wenger publicly unveils that 2 or 3 more “new signings” on 16-August at Emirates.
Oxalde-Chamberlain signing maybe that “catalyst” that triggers a chain reaction in selling Nasri and allowing the arrival of 2 or 3 more additional signings.
Perhaps, an additional bonus is that Wenger will refuse to sell Fabregas and forces him to play one season for Arsenal FC during current transitory period like 2004/05 season.
Recalled that after 2003/04 season, Vieira had alleged cleaned-up his locker at Colney, said all the goodbyes to staff and players, ready to leave for Real….but deal fell thru’ as Perez snubbed him and said he will not be a Galactico.
And virtually the whole of 2004, a disinterested Vieira gone wanderlust on the pitch, so lightwieght that when tackled, he was dumped on his buttends by a player half his size……until he woke up somewhere in January/February 2005 and realised that he got to play for his future, and he started to play as he can for Arsenal.
And yes, when Vieira and Gilberto were injured, Wenger just fielded a 17-year old Cesc in partnership with Flamini; ending up with them battling CHelski to a standstill in a pulsating 2-2 draw. Anybody remember that?
Wenger was slowly gearing up for life without Vieira and bringing in his replacement – Fabregas – slowly into the team.
And when Vieira finally crawled out of Arsenal in 2005, it was all “doom & gloom” and plundits were gloating Arsenal will be out of Top-4 and how can a “lightwieght” 18-year old Cesc replaced a “legend”???
Well, 2005/06 season surprised us all and it was the first (and only time so far) we reached CL CUp Final..again with disloyal player like Reyes begging to leave for Real, and Cashley Cole on his last contract year (but he did the decent thing and sign-on for one more year so that Arsenal will get a transfer fee..unlike a certain french sewer rat).
2011/12 is “deja vu” 2005/06 isn’t it?
A repeat of that Vieira Saga. Reyes Saga and yes, another LB Saga that ironically Cashley’s replacement again turned whorish to double or treble his salary by moving to our rival.
[Notice the symmetry. Does it means that CITEH will win 2011/12 title or CITEH will win f**k-all for next 3 seasons..Arsenal Curse strikes again…lol..]
But the signing of Oxalde-Chamberlain reinforces my view that Arsenal FC is on the verge of something great and missing pieces of the jig-saw puzzle are finally falling into places with more signings on the way….like 1998 and 1999 signings to create that title-winning team of 2000/01 and 2003/04.
In 18 year old Oxalde-Chamberlain, I see Wenger taking a massive gamble to replace Fabregas with a more pacy and attacking playmaker to compliment WIlshere in the middle; with Ramsey fighting with them for a spot.
Gervinho looks more and more like a Nasri’s replacement cum an alternative to Van Persie in the middle. Perhaps, Benik Afobe is an understudy as a centre forward, perhaps Wenger is also on the look-out for another “unknown” striker willing to sit on the bench as an alternative to Van Persie.
Less we forget, Walcott may rotate back as central striker…
It also reinforces my feeling that with Nasri virtually out of the door by this week, then Fabregas will be forced to stay on for one more season to groove in Wilshere, Oxalde-Chamberlain, Ramsey or even Mata if we sign him or even another “new buy”….like what Fabregas gone thru’ during 2004/05 season as Vieira’s understudy.
Less we forget, Diaby is still with us…:D
And we still have Frimpong and COquelin…plus ANeke breaking thru’ and Conor Henderson after he recovered from his 6 to 9-month injury layoff.
Plus perhaps, Wenegr will fast track Toral-Harper into senior squad as well.
Then if Fabregas is injured, Song injured, I can see a repeat fo that 2-2 draw against CHelski; our our 2006 halycon days of reaching CL CUp FInal by beating the likes of Real and Juventus:
………………….Szczesney
…Sagna…….Cahill……Mertesacker….Vernaelen
..”Freddy” Oxalde….Ramsey..Wilshere…”Pires” Gervinho
………”Bergy’s Hole” Van Persie
……………………………”Henry” Walcott
And with supersub Arshavin, Rosicky, Benik, Chamakh, DIaby, Frimpong,,,…
Moreover, with Fabregas forccd to stay, and perhaps Mata joining us……Ryo and Joel Campbell got their work permit this season……..
And hey, Wenger really buys another striker…and out of the blue snapped up Vertonghen and Mutiadi……lol……dream on…..dream on……
I can Dream, can’t I?
Hi RIco, good morning in advance….LOL.
I wouldn’t mind if your “cut and paste” all my latest postings in a new thread.
Perhpas you can consolidated all in a new article “The Dreams of Merlin”….lol…..
Morning, nice thoughts Merlin….and yes we can dream!! 🙂
Some interesting thought’s there Merlin.
Where’s HP…. 😀
Merlin, maybe you can cast a spell on AW, and get him to buy the players you suggest?
AK, at least the holland game is off…..
Is it Lee..?
Well that’s good news, it means RVP will stay fit…
Wonder if the Udinese game will be affected?
Yeah it’s on BBC….this gratuitous violence/looting/thieving is fcking scary sh1t!
Marshall Law could be the only answer.
It means that looters can be shot, but it would bring order back to the streets instantly.
The alternative is utter chaos…
AK, Nasri to citeh,Mata in plus Cahill? That’ll do…
Yeah Lee, i suspect that the Nasri deal is as good as done.
It’s just down to the two clubs agreeing a fee and all the extras, like ‘loyalty’ payments to Nasri… 🙁
So, now we get a top class, experienced and commanding centre back and a defensive midfielder who knows how to stay in position and tackle and we are peanuts.
Totally agree Will, although not sure AW will splash the cash on a DM….
I honestly believe we are just those two players away from a real push for the title.
I can’t disagree Will, plus hopefully the injury situation subsides…we’ll be fucking quick going forward…Theo, Gerv, Ryo and the Ox!!
Exactly, it looks like Wenger is moving from a retaining midfield to a fast forward line and hopefully the balls wwill be put through quicker.
If that’s true Will, we cant afford Song to go walk about, thinking he’s Messi…..
Will, you think we’ll get two more signings?
dam !!!!!!!!!!! you lot are the most depressing bunch of people i’ve seen!!!! sort your selves out for christ sake. you help breed eachovers negative minds. and what does it help with?…..not much. as anxiety does nothing to nobody. in a minute you will all be plotting a suicide pack your minds are that dark. get a grip. like the saying goes….”you have nothing posative to say then dont say it”.
now…when i’m back on here i would like you all to tuck your shirts in …clean your rooms and be presentable. cause at the mo this is a sorry bunch of people if i ever did see….so chop chop.
