Bould appointed, M'Vila signed? Theo back for Sunday and Hazard rejects City…..

Morning all….

Yesterday Le Grove broke the news that Steve Bould is going to be Assistant Manager to Arsene Wenger next season following the retirement of Pat Rice.

Will he speak, Will Wenger listen?

There is no doubting he loves Arsenal, he was with the club eleven years as a player before being let go by Arsene Wenger back in 1999. He moved to Sunderland but carried on for just one season before obtaining his coaching badges, he then returned to the club and became coach for the youth. His under 18 Academy side have won their league in 2008-09 and 2009-10 and the FA Cup in 2008-09.

During all this time of course, he has been under the Arsene Wenger umbrella and yes, he deserves to be promoted but will he be allowed to bring with him a few new ideas and if so, will Arsene Wenger listen and take heed of those ideas?

I’d like to think so and we must hope so as we need this big 6′ 4″ ex defender to teach a bit of what he learned in his Arsenal career to the squad of today.

Neil Banfield is also on the move, he’s leaving the reserves to become the first team coach, no, not a 32 seater, the one with bibs and cones, that kind of coach!

Good, another ex defender in the ranks!

Talking of the squad of today, well, more like next season, other news was rife on twitter yesterday afternoon and that involved Yann M’Vila, the player nearly every Arsenal fan wants us to sign and the deal is “99 percent done” according  to Julien Laurens this morning – Lauren is a French football journalist based in London.

Well if the twitter news is right and all the newspapers are right, it’s now all down to the wages so there is still plenty of time to muck that one up then.

Last night Blackburn lost to Wigan and that confirmed they will be playing Championship football next season, no doubt a few players will want to jump ship and stay in the Premier League and of course one we already know who will is Junior Hoilett. Well speculation is rife that he is heading our way and on a freebie but do we really want or need him?

Fans favourite Eden Hazard has apparently been in talks with Manchester City but talks broke down as they couldn’t agree on wages, well if City can’t pay him enough, there is absolutely no chance of us digging deep enough to convince him to sign is there?

Finally some injury news, Theo Walcott should be back for this weekends crunch game at West Brom and no doubt he’ll be out to impress the new England Manager – good, let’s hope that gets the best out of him.

We need him back and ticking with Robin, we need three points..

Have a good day all, maybe Vertonghen will sign up today….

good morning everyone. Vertonghen has chosen the spuds. How his judgement can be so bad, god only knows.

  2. devilgunner says:

Good morning Gurys and Chicks of the Gunners’ Faith.

Rico…….Fans favourite Eden Hazard has apparently been in talks with Manchester City but talks broke down as they couldn’t agree on wages, well if City can’t pay him enough, there is absolutely no chance of us digging deep enough to convince him to sign is there?

……..are you sure that that is the reason Rico?? Not agreeing on wages??? IMO it is more than that. MAybe he talked to them out of respect????

  3. Mattyboy says:

    Morning peeps,

Just read that Vertonghen is close to signing to the spuds, not looking good good 🙁

  4. ArsenalDK says:

If we are looking to sign M’Vila rico, then we surely wont be going for Vertonghen? And if we don’t want him, i guess he only has the spuds left to choose from? Where do you think he’ll go?

  5. Mattyboy says:

i would of hope not, but you know what wengo is like he takes fair to long… look at mata, and ronaldo before man u got in there, had them both in our palms and wengo didnt clinch! Its utter bollox if we miss out on him after the crappy weekend we just had in defence.

  6. rico says:

the club don’t seem to be hanging around at the moment though, wh’d have thought we’d have podolski in the door already, looks like they have woken up this time around…

  7. offiong says:

Vertonghen Ȋ̝̊̅§ going †☺ spurs because we dnt want him. Its as simple as that. Hope mvila signs

  8. rico says:

he’s a player low in confidence, he shouldn’t be starting imho, give him a summer resting and start again next season. all could be very different line up it seems 😉

  9. stevepalmer1 says:

    Morning all, nice one Rico,
Halfway through decorating the kitchen so just a brief visit, Transfer window opening and Players and clubs are like Kids in a sweetshop, so many to choose from but only have the money for a couple, this is the plight we have been in for years but what makes me smile is how our smaller rivals down the road always seem to be after the same players as us hs Arry got a spy in our camp, for a small club like them who have very little histry in Champions League makes me wonder why other players are supposedly waiting to see if we qualify before commiting themselves, what is so special about the Champions League, what does a player get from playing CL we ought to be more concerned that the player can play 50 games a season after all we are very seldom allowed to far in champions league before were outed. Surely if vertonghen commits to a small club he has no ambition so probably not right for us 🙂

  10. Lee says:

    Morning all….
Ajax to Yids is a massive backwards move….
If we can’t beat WB we dont deserve to be in the CL, actually after that shite performance on Saturday I really do wonder!

  11. rico says:

Hi Lee, nothing confirmed though, all paper talk at the moment, i was quite sure he’d join us…

spot on re the weekend game..

  12. alanbstardmp says:

well, I am happy to concentrate on more important things. The FA cup & the EPL

    Bugger the CL

  13. Mattyboy says:

agree lee was shocking, which is why i think vertonghen would be a great signing in defence and then get bould to shine them up as a unit!

wonder if wengo will get cover for sagna now he is out ?

  14. Charlie George aka AK says:

    Morning Gooners.
    £7m for Vertonghen!
If we miss out on him as we missed out on Cahill then i really don’t know?
Very disappointing, is all i can say.
    Good upbeat post Rico.
Gotta a train to catch. Lata.

  15. rico says:

alan, it’s not about that, its about not finishing below the swampies – i really couldn’t handle that very well…

  16. rico says:

i doub’t it matty, he could be back before next season…

    Hi Charlie, safe journey home…

  17. W.A.T.H says:

JV and M’Vila are both players we need, we can all see we need another central defender who is big and strong and more importantly one that leads shouts and organises…! It would also signal intent the wenger not happy to get by with average players and start to ship them out which we all been asking for now for years..! About time the club managed the finances in house far better and do not allow ponces to sit on their arses earning 50k a week doing sweet FA…!

    Oh and morning all…!

  18. rico says:

I read that a Feyenord (spelling) fan said that JV is the main defender at Ajax, he is the boss and leads the defence, he is the player that makes the defence tick – just what we lack….

  19. CB says:

@rico Paul Robinson, the ex-Tott, the keeper we have scored most against, the keeper that conceded the most goals ever in a Premiership season, the one we had on trial and rejected?

    No brainer, yes please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  20. W.A.T.H says:

So taking the nipper was an excuse for you to enjoy Lee 😉

Robinson failed the trial as he failed the spring jump test… Apparently..!!!

  21. rico says:

Ajax star Jan Vertonghen has dropped a huge hint that he is set to join Tottenham this summer.

The Belgian defender was talking after being winning the Dutch Golden Boot presented by De Telegraaf to the Eredivisie Player of the Year.

Arsenal were believed to be heading the chase for the 25-year-old, whilst Manchester United have also been linked.

But now Vertonghen has suggested that he could be on course for a move to White Hart Lane.

“I owe much to Ajax, I have always given my whole heart and soul for them. My appreciation for the club and the fans is great,” said Vertonghen, who has encouraged his current employers not to stand in his way.

“It would be terrible if my departure would be a long and distorted situation as Ajax would keep asking for a great price ’till the bone’.

“Of course I want Ajax to become financially better, but the amount Tottenham are willing to pay, maybe with a little bit extra, is very reasonable.

“In a year from now I could leave the club for free. I hope Ajax are aware of it as the situation of Maarten Stekelenburg’s transfer was very harsh. He only arrived at the end of pre-season at AS Roma. I want to flow in fluently, directly with the other Spurs players.

“Tottenham is a fantastic traditional club who play football in a way I like.

“Ajax was the perfect club for me, but Spurs will be very close in nearing that already. They buy young, eager and offensive-minded players.”

Spurs’ Rafael van der Vaart has already revealed he has encouraged Vertonghen to move to White Hart Lane, whilst manager Harry Redknapp confirmed his interest earlier this month.

  22. rico says:

does indeed, the man is a fool going there, now lets make sure we get that 3rd spot on sunday!

  23. W.A.T.H says:

Also read that JV said he knows Ajax have spoken to the yids BUT they not the only club so papers printing bits of what suits them as usual…! He won’t go 2 a team that fails to qualify for europe…!

  24. Scott From Oz says:

    One small point.
Not that I have anything against Le Grove…yeah right….but the news was broken on another site well before the illustrious Pedro “alerted” us.
    Evening all.

  25. rico says:

We better make sure we do then Wath but WBA away, tricky one but Fulham are a tough side too….

  26. Scott From Oz says:

If Vertonghen had said that about Arsenal, everyone would be cynical….why is that????

  27. Thorny says:

Hi. I am also a tad concerned that vertog would move to spurs. Verm needs to get to work on him. Hazard is being a tit with demands. Maybe AW really doesnt want vertog but I do. a fantastic seat swop for squid. Pleased to see the back of Pat Rice….good move with SB for sure. I reckon we have some sort of deal with lille to do with our odd theft of park last year, thats why the hazard thing is so odd plus theres the Cabaye reccomendation. gotta love this speculation…….

  28. Scott From Oz says:

No worries Rico, just pointing out that in the said article, they’re claiming a scoop that’s not theirs.
They were nearly half an hour behind.

  29. Scott From Oz says:

    Don’t want Hoillett,he’s a diver…….
Guys,as it stands,we deserve to be in 3rd spot.
The last few weeks we’ve been average, but over the season,we’ve been decent.

  30. rico says:

Welcome Thorny, it is all speculation, time will tell where he goes but as you say, could be he’s not even on Wengers radar, but he should be…

Not really fussed tbh Scott 😉

  31. Scott From Oz says:

Vertonghen will surely wait to see who makes CL before making a decision.
Hazard…..who the hell knows what’s going on with him?

  32. rico says:

😆 – a bloody nightmare, especially if we have signed all our players by then 😉

Shut down HH and go on hols i say 😉

  33. DutchGooner10 says:

    Morning Gooner peeps,

Good read Rico. Never pretentious, always level-headed. Transparency to give readers control. Love ya for it. 😉

Vertonghen is a intelligent guy. Ambitious too. He won the Dutch league twice in a row now. Can’t see him opt for also-rans … like the cockerels. Think he waits how the season pans out before picking up any pen. Also of interest is what the Arsenal confirms as packed suitcases and done deals. May well be one of the reasons business is conducted so unconventional early. It finally caught on that contract and transfer stalling pulses beyond the Ems, now management seem determined to advertise us as THE club to join. After 7 meager years, comes 7 fat ones.

Back to the days where our vibe made any competition irrelevant.

Besides is Awwy allowed to buy when the tinies don’t fancy offering him team sheets for 2013/14??

  34. rico says:

    Jussi Jaaskelainen

“I haven’t regretted anything although Manchester United, Arsenal, Real Madrid and AC Milan all wanted to sign me,” he told told Hungarian weekly Kepes Sport.

“My team is Bolton Wanderers in the good times and in the bad times too, I feel at home at this club.

Get back in there for him Wenger….

  35. vernat1066 says:

Morning, good news if Steve Bould is the new assistant. As for M’Vila again good news if he is signed early, but i think that as a team especially in midfield we lack a change of pace and midfielders getting beyond the striker which contributes to not enough goals from midfield. Hopefully we will see a plan B come in to place with a change of formation for some games but i wont hold my breath on that one.

  36. rico says:

Hi DG, thank you for your kind words…

Good point re Arry, Levy is not too keen to offer him a new contract, maybe they want Pep??

Pep by the way has turned down an offer of £12Million by the Chavs to be their manager…

  37. Micko says:

    Morning all,
Dunno what to believe, sunday will be make or break, they’re either be queuing up to sign for us or doing a runner !

  38. devilgunner says:

Rico……….that wages bit is what players and coaches do when we do not want to go to a club. Its a polite way of saying that we do not want to go there. So the wage goes up. 😉

  39. rico says:

    hi vernat,

if m’vila signs, i think things could be on the change, we certainly need it…

hi Micko – we are going to win, Theo is back 🙂

  40. rico says:

I don’t know why the chavs are even bothering devil, didn’t Pep say he’s exhausted and needs a year off to rest, what a whimp 😉

  41. rico says:

Doubt it Micko, too far to travel and he wouldn’t want to spend any of that £7million he earns 😉

  42. Micko says:

I’ll tell you what, if he doesn’t make them early signings and i hear him commentating at the Euro’s I’ll put my foot through the telly.

  43. alanbstardmp says:

Hyacinth Bucket is on tele. Now she could drive some of the hangers on out of Arsenal

  44. Thorny says:

    Hi Rico
I really think that AW needs to see what itl take to keep RVP first. RVP is well keen to stay and do what bgkmp did in the 10 shirt but knows he’s worth more dosh at this stage. RVP will relish a team built around him. After this AW will move in the market but I do think he has targets set and tee’d up ready…..Its all about sundays result hey. Just suprised Vertgn isnt one of them.

  45. DutchGooner10 says:

Rico the Totts Vertonghen story might be studied script quotes to hint other suitors should re-consider their valuation. Cuz Ajax won’t be bullied over asking prices. They are registered on the AEX stock exchange and don’t like to draw the short stick. A few years back they were on the brink of financial bankruptcy.

He’s not bagged by anyone I believe. Just a co-op between his agent to drive on urgency. One can always deny early media reports claiming they spun the interview.

  46. vernat1066 says:

I know people say we need a defensive coach (and we do) but i think as well we need to look at our offensive play with the over reliance on our Striker scoring and the lack of goals from elsewhere in the team especially in the midfield perhaps we need someone to work on this play as well?

  47. Steve says:

To be fair Spurs need to replace Ledley King and I don’t know how much longer they will keep Gallas. The situation at Arsenal is different in that we have two good first choice CB’s as well as the big German and JD, not forgetting Bartley and Ignasi..

I think what we need in defence is better coaching – over to you Stevie Bould !

  48. rico says:

I’m with Micko there DG, its us he wants, so go get him Arsene….

Steve – JD is not good enough, Miquel and Bartley, well they are not really proven and i’m not convinced by Merts – JV over any of them in my book 🙂

  49. Joaquim Moreira says:

    Good morning
We don’t want JV except TV goes to Real Madrid. And that is high probably.

  50. rico says:

Thorny – if we carry on after Pod with M’Vila and then JV, i’m sure RvP will believe that the right place is with us….

Then get another striker in, and i think that will be Hoilett…

  51. rico says:

Hi JM – TV won’t leave us, he’s just signed a new contract and he loves the club….

    Back shortly…

  52. Lee says:

I was talking to a Rangers ST holder over the weekend and he said Bartley isn’t good enough for The Arsenal…….I replied we’ll probably put him on 50 bags a week then!!

  53. Micko says:

    Steve, 11.47
“He’s got no hair and we don’t care, Stevie, Stevie Bould”
All the O.A.P’s we remember that one.

  54. alanbstardmp says:

you watch them all go out and buy season tickets, if not, they attend as many matches as possible, inadvertently assisting the charlatans running the club

  55. Thorny says:

Yes I agree rico, an early swoop for Pod was a great move. Also agree with Dutchgooner etc on the spin doctoring effect at this early stage, remember how it was with Juan Mata, It got to the medical stage. Hoilett maybe (free) but whats your views on Dempsey?? OK deal for Chmk and Bntnr. I rate him.

  56. W.A.T.H says:

All the OAP’s will remember Micko…!!! I remember that and I was a mere whipper snapper just ask me Grandad AK….! 😀

  57. Rokabox says:

    afternoon all,
I just heard from a reliable source that we got M’vila, I hope he is not a replacement for song though, I am not totally into song, and I know many people see his faults in tracking back and loosing the ball at crucial time etc.. but he is a good squad player and in his day he controls the whole midfield, also on occasions he can cover a centre back. so I hope he stays
off in his place shoud be Diaby imo, sorry AK

I wont be surprised if Vert go to the spuds, after all Ajax has the same yids connection!

  58. W.A.T.H says:

I’m with your mate Lee, I don’t think Bartley is good enough either..!

JD, Him and squilli need sold that leaves us 3 decent centre backs and we all know we need four so get JV, Miguel out on season long loan to get proper experience as the fella does look to have the potential but playing reserves and sitting on the bench isn’t the answer in my book he old enough now to be playing and needs that..!.

Also not sure about Hoilett although being free we know that will appeal to our lot…!

  59. DutchGooner10 says:

Steve I wanted to add that to my comment as well. Then it got me thinking. Should a player discard mediocrity and give a toss about future pensioners of a club?? Should he solve shortcomings at the expense of gunning for athletic glory?? Exchanging playtime for becoming part of a squad that builds on depth quality rather than replaces age?? I’m in a limbo on it.

Micko I agree Ajax has a fixed fee and don’t care about Vert personal preferences. Only if it causes a tussle about his services.

  60. rico says:

alan, i know but his price is the magic one ‘Free’ 😛

Micko – at last, something new for the fans to sing, well something old but new to a lot 😉

  61. rico says:

Thorny – Dempsey is a good player and scoring with ease in the PL against most sides – at 29 years old though, his age might be against us signing him…

  62. rico says:

    Rokabox,

I think M’vilas arrival would spell the end for Song… Wenger loves Diaby and believes that one day he will be fit and prove how good he is….

    However…. 😉

  63. devilgunner says:

Song he will keep IMO Lady……unless he gets a 30 million bid for him. At least for next season to see how it goes with M’Vila. Or maybe play them both. They can fit together and he sees them as two holding midfielders in a 4-4-1-1 formation with RVP in front of them behind Podolski.

So next year it can look like this………..

    Chesney
    Sagna, Koscialny,TommyV,Gibbs
    M’Vila, Song
    Theo,RVP,Santos
    Podolski

I am not including Hoillet, Dempsey etc. However if they are bought expect them to be rotating with Theo, Santos,Gervinho,OX etc

That is a headache for AW and a relief for us.

  64. Scott From Oz says:

Rico, unless Wenger is planning on pushing Song up the pitch.
He wants to play as a creative midfielder, why not try him??
    It might work,too.

  65. rico says:

devil – not if he is really is stalling on a new contract, the club might be thinking about selling him now whilst other clubs are interested…

maybe they have finally grown a pair 😉

  66. devilgunner says:

Pushing him up further is my feeling too Scott. I think that if he gets M’Vila it might be that we have a midfield of Song, M’Vila, Arteta. That is very strong and has a lot of imagination. Wilshere you might say??? yes, but expect him to be re-integrated slowly. But like with Podolski………I will believe it when I see him walking out of the tunnel with a Gunners’ shirt bearing a name on his back.

  67. devilgunner says:

I am off now mates. See you later today. In the meantime remember that whatever else G-string might say…………..

  68. vernat1066 says:

Passes are more likely to be successful if Arsenal showed more movement in the last third, like when Pires and Llungberg made those runs for passes, something that has completely gone from our game no one makes the run anymore

  69. rico says:

and look how many goals they scored too vernat, we don’t have that goal tally coming from our midfield anymore either…

  70. DutchGooner10 says:

Cheszner dents Wenger’s car. Extending his catastrophic spell beyond the green lanes.

  71. vernat1066 says:

If you don’t make the run you wont be in place to make the shot, score, don’t understand why we have stopped doing this now we have stopped our impersonation of Barcelona Lite. cant tell me Walcott etc cant make the run or Gervinho on the other side?

  72. gambon says:

MVila is a top top signing, really is a much better player than Song, particularly as a DM.

He will stop all them huge spaces appearing in our MF.

If we want to go back to 4-4-2 Arteta & MVila, or Wilshere & MVila would be top class partnerships.

From a possesion point of view you wont get any better than Arteta-Wilshere-MVila

  73. DutchGooner10 says:

Vernat that’s my take on the relentless pass spraying as well. Songhinio looking for movement which would draw passengers from the parked busses. 😉 We might slate his defensive choruses of late. But if we would losen up a bit on the static elbow touching with direct guards our possession doesn’t need him to camp around the box providing a distribution point for tippy tappy.

  74. Scott From Oz says:

I think Song does try the impossible a bit too often, but there’s also plenty of occasions were he puts the ball exactly in the right spot, but nobody reads it.

  75. rico says:

Hi gambon, that midfield three would do me just fine….

Off out with the woofa, back in a bit….

  76. vernat1066 says:

Definite lack of flexibility and imagination in our play in the attacking third might this still be a hang over from the times when all we did was pass to TH? Need players to take responsibility and offer options that make defenders make decisions and make the pass easier or offer more options for it

  77. DutchGooner10 says:

Lee golfers might argue you. Then again tennis would be like watching grass grow.

Got a point there mate. Though I think that his eyes see a tightened pack which makes cut through passes a certain interception. Not worth the risk.

  78. vernat1066 says:

Yes but that is because we don’t make opposition players make decisions we need only to overload one or two at the most to provide space this is not done now too static and easy to mark

  79. Scott From Oz says:

DG,sometimes I’d love to see him just pull the trigger and shoot…..actually,I could say that about most of our players.

  80. DutchGooner10 says:

Scott agree. But it makes me wonder if there are strategy orders preventing the adventures cannonballs. If our midfielders would shoot more often they get closed down early making link play harder to come off. Still a bit of variation in the approach is preferable. We often speak of plan B in terms of positioning while it could also be the execution while remaining in formation.

  81. Scott From Oz says:

DG,we see long range goals every single week in the highlights show, but not very often is it one of our boys.
I don’t want them teeing off at every turn, but if it gets to 70-75 minutes and we can’t break a side down, then its a plan B that we all talk about.

  82. Micko says:

Dutch, I’ve never seen Arsene so animated and players saying they’re tired, what’s it all about.

  83. goonster says:

Hahahahah classic british media. That interview was probably cooked up right there in the uk cause i sure haven’t seen any jv to spurs interview. God help us. What these tabloids will do to sell papers. Afternoon fellas…

  84. DutchGooner10 says:

Exactly that’s why I was thrilled with Arteta’s howler against Shity. Not only cuz it was the match winner. More because it proofed it throws a surprise at our opponents.

  85. Micko says:

Stan, Twitchy has confirmed he’s interested in signing him, he’s trying to steal a march on us.

  86. Scott From Oz says:

Even Yossis goal on the weekend….not exactly a long range effort, but individual and surprising.

  87. DutchGooner10 says:

Hola Goonster. I checked Dutch press. It’s been run by the Telegraph, talking slow news right there. 😉

Anyways, others report there was a hand shake with the Swamplands only that was before Arsenal formalized their interest. As well as ManU the rumour is. So, call it a warm up to fierce vowing for his services.

Micko it’s about launching the new home kit.

  88. goonster says:

Whatever micko, jv won’t go to the swampies! He’s a top class player. He has instructed his agents to talk to only one club, and that’s us. He ll rather go to spain than play against his best bud…besides since when did you all started to beleieve arry! He talks from his butt most times and hardly audible.

  89. goonster says:

Dg10 you and i know he won’t be sigining for the spuds. He’s too classy for them. The same spuds that was reportedly stealing hazard away from us. Give me a break.

  90. DutchGooner10 says:

Yossis goal sealed an extension to his career in top flight football I think. Wonderful effort. It dipped like a lobbed pass from Songhinio. 😛

  91. DutchGooner10 says:

    Night Scott. Snooze tight.

Goonie I already took the sting out of the story. Explaining exactly what you’re saying. It would fix my eyebrows permanently to the upper region of my forehead.

  92. goonster says:

Micko, i ll bet both and me dead father’s left kidney that jv won’t go to the spuds. What ll you bet?

  93. Micko says:

I might throw in my lucky underpants, you crazy dutch guys seem to be more in the know so that’s good enough for me.

  94. goonster says:

Guys, have you seen stories linking us with gourcuff. We inquired about him in january but the deal fell through. I hope we get him. He ll fit in nicely in our mid field. His dad christian is wenger’s close friend. Sign him up arsene.

The font, shitty want that belhanda fella now. Since hazard is not working. We were probably never in for him. A creative mid fielder is what we lack, we are well stocked with wingers. No more please!

  97. rico says:

    All good thanks goonster, you??

We have missed Theo and Arteta, i’m darn chuffed he’s back at the weekend 😛

  98. Thorny says:

Surely we’ll keep song and add m’v. agree with alan ditch diaby. Id rather keep yossi . Also would be super keen to ditch Djourou.

Have you lot heard the rumour about barca and fabregas?? gotta be a joke. Just imagine it. Although Spain is pretty messed up with 25% jobless and we all know itl trickle down to effect gate money and shirt sales.

goonster thats a good point….Honestly Spuds have VDV harping on but he cant score without Crouch, Bales gunna Bail, Modrich is off aswell, Vertongen would be on his own frankly, and as for Hazard…..better off staying at lille with joe cole than go WHL.

  99. DutchGooner10 says:

Thanks Stan you visually stained imagination with Awwy’s sack. Now I got a picture of granny nylons filled with sand growing a dot of ginger scrotum hair. Thanx a bunch.

  100. rico says:

VdV can talk to JV all he likes Thorny, but we got his best mate, Vermaelen 🙂

The only question is, does Wenger want Vertonghen?

If he does, and we get 3rd, surely to goodness he’d choose us over the swampies any day of the week??

  101. vernat1066 says:

Unless we get a change in attitude and players taking responsibility we can sign who ever we want they wont make enough of a difference as a team we are static in the last third a creative midfielder needs someone to pass to and at the moment i cant see who that is beyond RVP or Podolski and that is not enough options

  102. Charlie George aka AK says:

    Calm down Stan.
Not sure to make of the Vertonghen rumours.
I recall when we were linked to RVP.
    Nothing happened for ages.
Then the Spuds showed interest in him.
And almost immediately we got him.

  103. Charlie George aka AK says:

    Afternoon Gooners btw.

Rico, did you get your chicken back from Blackburn?

  104. rico says:

vernat – Bouldy will change the attitude in the camp, he’ll ram home what it means to play for Arsenal….

  105. rico says:

Barnet Lee, i’d choose my pub side over that lot 😉

Afternoon AK, back home safely then, just in time to enjoy the warm sea air 🙂

Trust me, my lot were locked up safe last night, joking aside, what knob would take a chicken to a footie match and send it onto the pitch with a message around its neck?

Beggars belief, the idiot should get done for animal cruelty….

  106. goonster says:

Well rico you don’t wanna visit me every last friday of the month at 8pm then. You ll be shocked!

  107. Thorny says:

Deffo rico. Its a pure come and get me Wenger. Not everyones is as mad as Klinsman. Verms his mate and also hazards cousin but he’s just too expensive but trying the same trick….we should call it a “Belgian”! To be honest I would be keener for another CB over winger now.

  108. DutchGooner10 says:

Rico you call that appalling?? I vividly remember Figo transferring from Barca to Real Madrid. When el classico was played at Campnou someone threw a pigs head on the pitch with ‘Figo traitor!’ scribbled on it.

Horrible way to show your misery.

  109. rico says:

good job stanley, you were in for a thrashing 😉

you might be right lee – big tub i suspect….

  110. rico says:

I hope Wenger is listening Thorny, by the way, real glad you have stayed around today, so many comment and go again, hope you become part of our happy clan 🙂

We have plenty of wingers, i too would rather a CB before we venture there…

And a good keeper to push Ches…

  111. rico says:

    You thought best Micko 😉

DG, i remember that, disgusting, just horrid but at least it was dead i suppose, unlike that feathered little one last night….

  112. DutchGooner10 says:

Animal cruelty you’re right Rico. With me it raises questions about security. God knows what the next guy smuggles in?

  113. vernat1066 says:

still think that an coach with the task to work on solely that responsibility would not be a bad idea, even if it was just a fresh voice for the players.

  114. Thorny says:

Nice one rico, cheers. Yep I’ll be back.
Looks like m’v is in the bag, although no fat lady yet. I really hope we keep song.

  115. rico says:

Good to hear that Thorny 🙂

Until afc.com say its done, Gazidis could still naff it up, he’s not known for his ‘securing a contract’ quickly is he 😉

Song – depends on how much faith Wenger has in Coquelin and Frimpong I guess and Songs contract situation….

  116. vernat1066 says:

Well Rico as long as one of them is only doing that Great and the other only Defence even better

  117. rico says:

I think Banfield and Bould will be working on the defence vernat, the two prob work close together with the youth/reserves in training….

  118. The font says:

Merts in not playing becouse of injury is still first on the list for German national team his reading of the game is second to none if fit he will play for Germany one of the favourites to win the competition in my opinion he will be third choice at arsenal behind t.v and bosscielny kozzer is fast becoming one of the best c.b in the world he loves to defend he has pace to burn and make no mistake will be on the wish list of the super powers before long t.v has already caught the eye of real madrid if the press is to be believed we also have Swiss international djourou who as a fourth choice is a more than adequate behind djourou with have an exceptional young centre back who is not that far off being premiership quality called Miquel the last position arsenal need to fill is c.b it would not surprise me to see t.v moved to left back and merts brought back in to c.b with m.villa sitting in front of sagna merts kozzer and t.v we would not be as dynamic but we would be solid by taking away the attacking flair of Gibbs /santos would mean we would need a talented creative midfielder we already have wilshere arteta diaby rosicky Ramsey with chucks aneke coming on leaps and bounds of which I think we will go with wilshere and arteta again both have flair both can defend on the wings we have theo gervino ryo poldy i think we will probably go with theo IF He SiGNs contract extension and poldy with Rvp leading the line
The players who did not make my team song rosicky benny diaby Ramsey Gibbs santos gervino coqelin are adequate cover for mid field adding jenks as cover for right back i think the defence will need one more addition at right back with Joel cambell Benik afobe coming through i think we possibly need Dempsey and one other to secure the attack

  119. rico says:

JD is not good enough the font and Miquel needs a loan, the same for Bartley imho – either a PL loan to see if he has what it takes, or he’s gone….

  120. rico says:

Not sure we need another Rb, Coq can slot in if Jenks gets injured and we have Yenarris – the left side is more of a concern imho….

  121. The font says:

RICO are you saying that jD is not good enough as a forth choice
I agree miquel needs a loan but he is 5 th choice it is imperative to bring through the youth system. by bringing in a more experienced c.b to sit on the bench If they were better than say j.d miquel they would demand more money and would not be happy to be forth / fith the way it is at the moment it sits perfect unless your unhappy with the first 3

  122. devilgunner says:

I am back mates. How is life going on here???

IMO I do not think that Song will be allowed to leave this summer even if we get M’Vila, Vertonghen, Biglia or whatever DM there can be. He will be allowed to leave in summer 2013 when there will be a year left on his contract. Unless crazy money is offered for him.

  123. devilgunner says:

    Hiya Habib.

Hopefully yes regarding M’Vila. He will help us a lot in the centre. But I still think we need to keep Song. We need him for the best teams while against massed teams we might need a different option. Imagine them both with Arteta, or M’Vila with Wilshere and Arteta, or Song, Wilshere and Arteta.

    All are good combos.

  124. allezkev says:

Only got home a couple of hours ago habib, so i’m catching up.
Had a look at Twitter and Vertonghen is still being linked to us.
But according to Jamie Sanderson’s Tweets, Vert is going to the scum… 🙁

  125. allezkev says:

Song’s contract is a worry Dev, he needs to commit to us.
M’Vila’s arrival would lessen his bargaining position.

  126. devilgunner says:

He still has two years Sir AK. So he does not have that much bargaining position to do. The club will not be dependent on him if M’Vila signs. So they can afford to sit on it for at least 12 more months. Even if he decides to go in 2013 AFC are in a win win situation since they only paid only 1 million for him and they will get more than that. They will have M’Vila with Coquelin and Frimpong backing up. So I think that the club has the upper hand regarding him.

  127. rico says:

the font – i am, he is too slow and a liability imho – in fact i’d rather see what bartley is made of than see JD on the pitch (on this seasons performances)

  128. DutchGooner10 says:

Just been on a reliable Dutch source which had an interview with Vert. Synopsis: He says there are several options to choose from. My 2 most critical requirements are playing weekly and being involved in CL is imperative.

So there you have it Kev. No pen been picked up yet.

  129. devilgunner says:

Hi DG10. How is life in flower land???

Verts will play every week for AFC……..if we go in the CL that is what we will do if we advance in the cups.

  130. rico says:

Hi devil, you and me both, livid!

DG – he could play every week for us at left back 😉

  131. DutchGooner10 says:

The rest of the story were kind farewell words to Ajax and his development stages within the club. He mentioned that Ajax was being strict about their valuation. Which I said this afternoon.

  132. devilgunner says:

Bould as assistant manager might change things on the defensive front. It might be that no defender is bought, except maybe Verts.

  133. DutchGooner10 says:

Devil it’s wonderful seeing all the gardens come to blossom. Still the weather flips from comfortable to a bit chilly.

  134. rico says:

We def need one devil and hopefully JV will be that man, we need to beat Wba to increase that chance…

  135. devilgunner says:

My friends send me powerpoints on your flower land. And believe me I really like watching them. I have never been to your country and it is one of the wishes that me and my wife have….to visit your country.

It is not just the scenery though. It is the history and tradition also. When I go to a place I do not take in only the views. I enjoy reading and learning on the folklore, legends, history, traditions etc. And your country is simply one of the best.

And then there is always Goonie there. Makes the land a happier although he might not smell so nice as the flowers. 😉

  136. rico says:

    Guys, i am heading offski…

have agood eveing and catch up tomorrow…

    Night night, stay safe all….

  137. The font says:

I do not agree rico djourou is good enough to sit 4 th in line but let’s say your right who do you suggest who is better and will be happy to be 4th choice

  138. DutchGooner10 says:

Nite Coach just read your comment. 🙂 I’m more of a tech-savvy Anglo-American nature creative guy. But I can understand your interests, most foreigners come for the same reason. There’s a lot of UNESCO protected culture in Holland. Sometimes I wonder if they consider us as an anthropological tribe worth a study.

Nite all Offski as well. Catch you all on the wireless.

  139. allezkev says:

    I’m good mate.
Had a great weekend at a beer festival in the Midlands.
You would have loved it.. 🙂

  140. allezkev says:

Not sure what to think about all this transfer speculation Scott, tbh.
AFC need to focus 150% on beating West Brom.
Then we can all freak-out over transfers….
Fail to beat West Brom and M’Vila won’t be coming.
    Or anyone else half-decent.

  141. allezkev says:

    Just gotta love Twitter.
Full of conspiracy theorists and other assorted nut-cases.
According to one guy, RVP is off to Inter for £34million.
Said he saw Moratti say so on Italian TV.
    Well, we shall see?! 🙄

  142. allezkev says:

    Grant James Lomas ‏@GJLomas

Rumours that Robin van Persie to Inter Milan for £34million is a done-deal. Moratti said live on Antenna Sicilia (TV channel).

  143. Scott From Oz says:

Agree on the need for CL.
No way anything will be final on M’Villa or Vertonghen until positions are decided.
I read a pretty positive one on Gourcuff yesterday.
The guy seemed sensible enough, and was confident we are definitely looking hard at him.

  144. allezkev says:

Yeah, Gourcuff, we’ve been linked with him before.
Keep on reading linkage to Hoillet & Dempsey, we defo need more goalscoring options.
I don’t want to be in a situation next season, where we’re chasing a game, and when i look at the bench, all we have is Chamuck, Park and a couple on nondescript defenders…..

  145. allezkev says:

Arsenal are lining up a swoop for Swansea’s Michel Vorm as Arsene Wenger prepares for a summer goalkeeping shake-up.
Sportsmail can reveal senior Gunners scouts have watched Vorm in recent weeks because Wenger wants an experienced keeper to provide competition for current No 1 Wojciech Szczesny.
Manuel Almunia’s contract expires at the end of the season and he will leave north London after spending eight years at the club.

  146. Scott From Oz says:

AK,I’m worried about Hoilletts diving,I loathe it and will be pissed right off if he brings it with him.
Dempsey is just a great professional footballer….no crap, just gets on with the job.
On the diving, did anyone see Young get cleaned up for NO penalty on the weekend???
    Maybe refs DO take notice.

  147. Scott From Oz says:

Corns a very good keeper, and he loves Arsenal.
Well I think he does,he gifted us a goal after all lol.

  148. alanbstardmp says:

the new strip. The gun as in the vid looks like a cross between RAF roundel and the mods in Quadraphenia. Phil Daniels replaced by AW?

  149. The font says:

Ignore these last two comments it’s an old news item sent to me by an idiot no hazard agreement

  150. Lee says:

evening Scott…..loads of media bollocks over here again saying the spuds have Vertonghen, I really don’t believe it though!!
