Bernd Leno targeted, Ozil stuff is embarrassing & getting used to the new Arsenal is difficult..

Morning all.

One from Kev this morning.

Isn’t it great to be able to spend most of an Arsenal summer with the majority of our business in the bank. To be able to relax whilst it’s other clubs rushing around doing their business. That used to be us under Arsene Wenger, but not anymore…

The prospect of another deadline day of hoping, wondering and stressing as the effervescent and ever so slightly mental Jim White performs another manic episode of the world renowned Sky Sports Transfer Deadline jamboree, can be safely consigned to the dustbin of most Gooners. We can all relax…

It takes a bit of getting used to I know, but it sure makes a pleasant change, thanks to the pro-activity of Sven, Raul and the gang. I look at News Now and there’s hardly anything on there worth considering except players possibly being moved on and odd agent inspired rumour.

But, there is a downside to this because the Press need to have some kind of ongoing Arsenal themed negativity around to generate clicks – it’s all about the advertising revenue folks.

So step forward Bernd Leno.

Remember when Granit Xhaka joined Arsenal and according to the Press he was a walking disaster area, a red card every game and that narrative then followed him into the Arsenal team. Of course it was total rubbish and his disciplinary record since has shown what nonsense those stories were. But don’t let the truth get in the way of a negative Arsenal story and so we have the Bernd Leno theme and his supposed penchant of ‘throwing one in’ each game.

Of course other goalkeepers don’t make mistakes, only Leno it seems, or like that German nutcase at the World Cup who despite that major balls up, is still rated the best in the World. So the Press will pursue this theme because Arsenal have had such a chilled out summer which clearly doesn’t suit the Press as they need some kind of Arsenal crisis to earn revenue.

So every time Leno concedes (because it will happen, just ask David Seaman) you can expect these negative comments to surface, just don’t let the Press colour your view of our new goalkeeper or any of our new signings.

Talk about mole hills and mountains, this story about Mesut Ozil is ridiculous from start to finish. No, not the fact that he’s quit international football for the reasons he has but how it’s unfolded.

So what if he had his photograph taken with the Turkish President, so what if it was just before he due to play for Germany in the World Cup, in fact so what to all of it! Mesut Ozil was born in Germany and simply opted to play for Germany because he could. The fact that his family are Turkish and much of everything else about Mesut is Turkish too, shouldn’t make any difference whatsoever, not in sport that’s for sure but sadly it does and probably always will because this World is full of ignorant people.

For me, having a picture with President Erdogan wasn’t about politics or elections, it was about me respecting the highest office of my family’s country,

My job is a football player and not a politician, and our meeting was not an endorsement of any policies.

The treatment I have received from the DFB (German Football Association) and many others makes me no longer want to wear the German national team shirt.

Arguably the issue that has frustrated me the most over the past couple of months has been the mistreatment from the DFB, and in particular the DFB President Richard Grindel.

Whilst I attempted to explain to Grindel my heritage, ancestry and therefore reasoning behind the photo, he was far more interested in speaking about his own political views and belittling my opinion.”I will no longer stand for being a scapegoat for his (Grindel’s) incompetence and inability to do his job properly.

When high-ranking DFB officials treat me as they did, disrespect my Turkish roots and selfishly turn me into political propaganda, then enough is enough. That is not why I play football, and I will not sit back and do nothing about it. Racism should never, ever be accepted.

I wonder if Mesut would have received such criticism from within the German game four years ago when he was helping his international teammates lift the World Cup? No, I doubt it either but this summer, he’s not had a great tournament. Mind you, who did in the German team?

He’s a scapegoat, just as he so often is both club and country and I know at times I’ve been guilty of being critical of him for his poor Arsenal performances but the difference is, his nationality or anything associated with it has never come into it. Before he signed for Arsenal he was considered a great player, a world class player in some people’s eyes and there’s no doubting that on his day he is but his body language gives off the wrong impression.

The ghastly media love him because he’s an easy target, especially as he plays for Arsenal…..

Great post kev it’s just sad that the media loves a story about arsenal. We just can’t catch a break can we?? Imagine if suarez ,Terry or giggs played for us. Imagine the uproar. We may all have our differences about Wenger but one thing you can’t deny was that the man was a class act. Carried himself with so much class and dignity. You barely hear any thing negative or controversial from him of course except when the spuds and pool led media twists his words around. Imagine if bergy has “jet lied” a fan with a drop kick as cantona did back then imagine what would have happened to his arsenal career??? But do we get any negative report about these other teams noooo except us. Ozil is just another on the long line of “things to beat arsenal up with ” anyway am happy he retired from the accursed DFB team he ‘ll better off without them as for Leno he’s a wonderful shot stopper and great at one on ones can’t wait to see him start. It’s going to be a great season guys don’t let the media tell you otherwise. For the first time in ages we ‘ll be going into the season with a plan and a back up plan. No more 75th minute substitution. Am super chuffed bring on the season. Come on you gunners.

  2. Goonster says:

Howdy Rico are you from Yorkshire 😉😉😉met some guys from Leeds last night best time of my life. Guys from the north do seem a lot more fun than stiffs from the south like kev and adam😂😂😂😂 watch them tear me a new one. Hahahahahah kidding kev and adam.

  3. Goonster says:

It’s a clean slate maam everyone seem to be handing the EPL title to either pool or shitty which works to our own benefit. No one is giving us a chance which is fine by me. I think our forward line is as good as any out there. Pound for pound we have some of the best attacking line in Europe right now. We just need to get the balance and when we do we ‘ll rip a few teams to shreds. Just really wish the club ‘ll get us a winger we do need a player that can stretch the play, beat his man and whip in a good cross. He must be a goal scoring winger too. Atleast 15 goals a season from the wings is not a bad return. I hope we get him.

  4. rico says:

Agreed, a wide player with pace and a midfielder if Ramsey goes and I reckon we’ll give it a good go..

    South of England Goonie.

  5. Goonster says:

I don’t think Rambo ‘ll go maam he’s just bidding his time. It’s his last major transfer and he’s not gonna rush into that neither would I. Plus where ‘ll he go and whom ‘ll he displace at shitty manure pool barca and Madrid?? He’s not a fool he’s beloved here. He ‘ll be the captain and a chance to create history retire an arsenal legend and make a name for himself. I ‘ve seen pictures of him Rico and he looks like he’s enjoying himself. He ‘ll sign. Take it from me have I ever steer you wrong? 😉😉😉😉

  6. rico says:

I’m not so sure goonie. Time will tell although it’s running out.

Oh yes, you’ve been wrong on many occasions… lol

  7. Goonster says:

Rico as it is no one is bidding for him. Most clubs have players of his ilk at their various clubs. He ‘ll be stupid to leave now and end up an arsenal legend or just another player for United or shitty. (Ask RVP). I still think he ‘ll sign. If the signs weren’t positive am sure the new regime ‘ll have flogged him since. Am not worried about Rambo it’s gazidis that’s giving me grey hairs. He leaves and guess who takes over??? ARSENE WENGER 😣😣😣 God no not him lol.

  8. rico says:

We don’t know that for sure though, another club and Arsenal could be keeping things quiet. If I were him I’d stay because of all the changes but I guess a lot depends on his wage demands.

I can’t see Wenger coming back, certainly not in place of Ivan Gazidis. In any case, why would Gazidis want to leave after he finally implemented the changes he’s been desperate for for so long.

  9. Goonster says:

Rico gazidis and the club has been too quiet for my liking. There’s no smoke without fire. At least come out and squash the rumors once and for all. If you ‘re leaving say something so we could start looking for a new CEO as for other clubs in for rambo I doubt it ma’am. It’s 2018 it ‘ll be all over Twitter and the arsenal verse.

  10. Goonster says:

Rambo’s camp is probably looking at ozil’s contract and salivating. He wants a bumper pay rise I think once both parties get what they want we ‘ll see an announcement. Even with or without Rambo we still need another CM I like the noises coming out from Barcelona. Gomes was class in Valencia. He ‘ll be in our set up. The problem we had in the past was lack of competition plus if you get past our first 11 the second string is just dross. I hope we get gomes, another CB if musti leaves and a winger. Am happy with our window so far. A winger ‘ll be icing on the cake.

  11. Cicero says:

I can’t see any reason for the angst over Ramsey, a run of the mill midfielder, twenty-seven years old, injury prone, can’t make, or take, a tackle, no real pace and the only trick he has is to arrive late in the box. Yes by doing so he scored some goals but probably missed as many chances.

There’s no queue of clubs wanting to sign him, if he doesn’t want to renew his contract, at very close to his present wage, sell him for what we can get rather than let him run his contract down and leave next summer for nothing.

As for him being Captain that’s a joke, surely.

  12. Obi says:

    Hi All:

I will sell Ramsey in a heartbeat. Why would arsenal make the same mistake twice by giving Ramsey a contract comparable to Ozil. Not that Ozil deserved the contract, but Ramsey cannot compare with Ozil. Ramsey is an average player. Including Gomes I can name 5-10 AM who are available and better than Ramsey.

I share the view we need a pacey winger, and would love to have Demebele, Coman or Costa, but we have a winger who is better than all of them. Let’s not forget how PEA teamed up with Lewandowski, Reus and even Ramos at Dortmund. He played 3 years “basically” as a winger and was very good providing and scoring from the wing. PEA can play one wing Mkhitaryan
on the other and Lacazette upfront. Put Ozil in the #10 hole and tell to stop drifting to the wing. With Ramsey gone we can add N’zonzi (because we need additional toughness) and Gomez.

I loved Benega rumors, and was hoping we would’ve signed him because he is discipline both defensively and offensively that he can play with any combination of Xhaka, N’zonzi, Perreira, or Gomes.

  13. Goonster says:

Obi I won’t play auba on the flanks in England. He doesn’t have the ability to beat his man frequent enough for me to chuck him on the wings plus it ‘ll be a waste of his predatory instincts. Why spend 50m on a c.f. and play him on the wings as for your dig at Ramsey lol I guess you chose to see what you want to see. Rambo is a baller. Under a different coach and setting we ‘ll be salivating. I ‘ll give every player on our books a clean slate and have them restart their arsenal careers. Gomes over ramsey?? Lol not in a million years.

  14. Goonster says:

Go and watch Rambo under Gary speed his former wales boss or at the last Euros. He wasn’t dubbed the Welsh Jesus by default 😉😉😉😉 Rambo played his best football when arteta was at his prime for us. After arteta lost his legs Rambo fell from grace. He intercepts, tackles bust a gut tracking back, and scores a truck load. Yes he misplaces a few passes here and there who doesn’t. Sorry bro Ramsey is on another level. You ‘ll see a different beast this season.

  15. Goonster says:

Kovacic is the latest CM linked with us. Maybe Rambo is off after all😣😣😣I ‘ll hate to see him go. A midfield of Ramsey torriera and nzonzi ‘ll be a mad prospect. Both Ramsey and torriera pressing from the get go and Steven nzonzi just sitting at the base and mopping up after them. Our substitute bench ‘ll be a thing of joyto behold. We could have a subs bench made up of cech litchsteiner holding musti xhaka elneny lacasette/mhki wow.

  16. Goonster says:

Yo Adam i met some guys from Yorkshire last night at the bar in Cary NC. Wildest bunch of guys I ‘ve ever partied with. Men they were chugging on them beers like there was no tomorrow. We did all kinds of jello shots. It was crazy. Guys up north do know how to party Adam. I can’t wait to see them again this weekend 😂😂😂

  17. Goonster says:

Lol Adam 😁 ready for the new season mate??? Am so excited. Even bouldy looks reborn been watching videos of him at the. Com belting out orders. He must feel like his shackles have been broken off. Clean slate for all Adam even iwobi.

  18. allezkev says:

Hey Stan, how are you you crazy Dutchman… 😃

It’s been 31* C in London today I reckon, everyone is knackered.

  19. Goonster says:

Hiya AK 😁 nice to find some time to blog again. I ‘ve missed every thing arsenal. Didn’t watch the world cup cause my dear oranje didn’t make it. Supported England all the way though. Hey atleast the arsenal is back and boy what a season we ‘re heading into. Can’t wait.

  20. Goonster says:

You can say that again Adam. We have all our holes plugged no more waiting till the last day of thr transfer window like AK said. I for one am looking forward to an arsenal where every one knows their roles and what to do at a given time. It’s exciting Adam. Bring on shitty.

  21. Goonster says:

Malcom just signed for Roma. Monchi with another gem. He ‘ll probably sell him for 80m in a few years time.

  22. micko says:

Poor ole Ozil and his Turkish ancestors, “I’m German when we win and an immigrant when we lose”…….can someone please pass me the hankies lol.

Stan, beware of those Yorkshire lads, they pish in the sink & shit in the bath, they beat up their grannies, sleep with their whippets & think it’s a laugh, if you don’t believe me just ask em, everyone knows it’s grim up North !!!

  23. Obi says:

Goonster, you are giving Ramsey way too much credit. Most people talk about the 3 good games he had at the Euros against B rated competition in the group they were in. I have said it several times, most of his good plays at the Euros came when he drifted to/ from the flanks. As you said Ramsey had a good year for Arsenal when he play along with Arteta, and I will add Cazola, because they directed and coached him positionally and tactically. He’s so indiscipline its scary. Gomes has better skills, not the same motor as Ramsey granted, but can pick u apart.

Bro, with PEA on the frank does it matter how much he cost? Good wingers are going for 60m to 80m, so 50m is cheap…..lol. But on the seriously side Lacazette’s predatory skills are just as good as PEA but PEA is better on the flank. PEA on the flank will cause problems and yellow cards because fullbacks and wingbacks will be grabing and holding all game especially on off the ball runs.

I do love the thought of Perreira and N’zonzi though, and yes Malcom is a gem…… remember Wenger almost signed him.

  24. Goonster says:

Howdy obi sorry for replying late sorry I slept off. Back to the auba on the wings thing and why it won’t work. He lacks the skills set to play on the wings. It ‘ll just be another Walcott all over again. Auba is center forward that’s what we bought him for no need trying to reinvent him. Not everyone can be like titi. Henry was just a different animal. I ‘ll love for laca auba to play together against smaller teams and maybe in the Europa league but against the chavskis, shitty and manure if this world I wouldn’t play him on the wings.

  25. Goonster says:

Ramsey over gomes any day. Like I said earlier it’s a new season a clean slate for all. Am hoping for an injury free season for him and you ‘ll be eating humble pies in truck loads obi😉😉😉😉

  26. Goonster says:

Yo micko😁😁😁😁 how have you been you Irish mug face. I missed ya mate. How’s everything? Now that Wenger is gone may be just maybe I ‘ll come see a game at the Emirates. Would love a few pints with you buddy😁

  27. Goonster says:

Morning Adam yeah I ‘ve been back for a few months now. Spent quite a considerable amount of time in Arnhem. Had a blast. My funds were running low and my bills were piling up. Hence my return to the U.S. of A lol.

  28. Adam says:

Could be Rico, especially if Kroenke doesn’t look like selling. Unless Jabba makes a really daft high, high offer.
Stan. I’ve been in Amsterdam quite a bit recently but I don’t get to Arnhem anymore these days. I’m back there in October.

  29. Adam says:

I like it Stan. Not the centre, but I usually stay in de Pijp trying to avoid getting run down by 6 foot blond girl cyclists. 🙂

  30. rico says:

I guess the other question Adam is who would buy his shares, Kroenke getting them would be a disaster I reckon. Mind you, with one owner it might make us ripe for a massive takeover offer.

  31. Goonster says:

Just too crowdy for me plus lots of prostitutes too😂 thank you but I ‘ll stick to my little Arnhem. I do miss the cafes though. My sister works at the cafe bretch on 157 weteringschans. Go check it out Adam. Tell her I said hi😉

  32. Adam says:

Rico. Usmanov would clear a healthy profit though. Football and it’s financing is going to change I would think. I can see us being owned by an oil-rich Arab state sometime in the future. It’s clear that Arsenal shares only a name with the club I was bought up with so I’m pretty easy about it all really.

  33. Adam says:

Stan. I like Arnhem too and yes, Amsterdam is certainly crowded. De Pijp is nice in the evening and they have a couple of good coffee establishment thatI have visited. Is your sister’s place in Arnhem?

  34. Adam says:

Stan. I just looked thatcafe up. It’s in Amsterdam right? I know that area and must have walked past that place, if it’s the Cafe Brecht.

  35. Adam says:

Rico. I think so too. A few players will buy into the history and vibe of the club but most of them just want the money and a long career. As communities fragment, so do football clubs.

  36. Goonster says:

You probably might have seen my sister then. She’s built like a tank, blonde and yells a lot🤣😂 ask for Imelda. She ll tell you a lot about me.

  37. Goonster says:

Looks like gazidis could be off afterall Rico. This just don’t make no sense to me at all. Why leave now when you finally got total control of the club? Something just ain’t right.

  38. Goonster says:

Di marzio who is never wrong on all things arsenal Italy just confirmed on his Twitter handle that gazidis ‘ll be heading to Milan. Normally I ‘ll take it with a pinch of salt but he called both litchsteiner and torriera’s transfer. It’s gonna happen Rico. God help us Wenger don’t make it back to the board. Right now I ‘ll take kroenke Jr over Wenger.

  39. rico says:

Reports in Italy suggest Ivan Gazidis has rejected the opportunity to move to AC Milan. Il Giornale say that Gazidis has told close friends that he has no intention of giving up his role at Arsenal.

The Italian daily reckon that former Milan player and boss Leonardo is now in the mix, having worked in a similar role at Paris Saint-Germain until 2013.

  40. Goonster says:

Lol with CEO of arsenal up for grabs??? No way will he take the Japan job over arsenal. 😂😂😂 it ‘ll be his ultimate revenge. He ‘ll definitely make life much much harder for emery. Man that guy has 10 lives 😂😂😂

  41. Goonster says:

Rico i hope your 12.13 is right ma’am. It ‘ll be chaotic for him to leave now. Plus he’s on tour with the team right now. Pray it’s true.

  42. Cicero says:

‘afternoon all, I find it incredible that Gazidis could be leaving Arsenal, but what would absolutely horrify me is to learn that his replacement as CEO is Arsene Wenger.

  43. potter says:

If he comes back , I wonder how many season ticket holders , silver and red members will up and go. Quite a few in my mind.

  44. Wavy says:

I’m sure they won’t be inviting old silver tonsure back. I suspect there were a few harsh words said, after they constructively sacked him and paid him off. Don’t fret Arsie won’t return, imo of course.
However, if Ivan the not so great we’re to leave it may well open the CEO’s door to Joshie Kronkeeeeee! How’s about that folk Songs? Soccer ball the Kronkeeeeee way?

Sunny and clear here bleedin’ ‘ot too. Most unenglish like! Far more like European weather is the climate trying to steer us away or towards our similarities with our EU brothers and sisters?

  45. Le Coq Monster says:

Evening all and thanks Adonis Kev.

Gets a bit frenetic when Goonsters about !………………….. 😆

I reckon Goonie being Dutch …………..The Yorkie boys probably thought they were in for some hard core porn and drugs ! 😆

Wavy……………………………this will be the norm weather post Brexit……………………we got huge European Grants for it to rain………………………….No grants ….No rain !

Football !………………………………Malcolm has gone to Barca, they gazumped Roma !

Did I say recently that Ronaldo could probably play on `till 40 because he had the body of a 25 year old ?……………………well I was wrong !………………………..he has the body of a 20 year old aparrently !

    https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/cristiano-ronaldo-completes-juventus-medical-12968378

  46. Goonster says:

LC 😂😂😂😂😂hard core porn and drugs??? Geez we ‘re in 2018. Do you guys still see us that way??? Omg😂😂😂.

  47. Goonster says:

Plus that was just in Rotterdam, eindoven and Amsterdam. Arnhem is more of a quiet town. Ask adam. Hardcore porn and drugs he says😂

  48. Goonster says:

Kike just tweeted something that may turn the arsenal verse upside down. Omg is it reallu happening??? Dembele to arsenal?? That’s crazy. I ‘ll literally just….rico ‘ll bin me for that so I won’t finish the sentence. Make it happen gazidis then you can fuck off to Milan. Somebody pinch me. Dembouz to arsenal ‘ll break the internet. Trust me.

  49. Le Coq Monster says:

Where is this tweet, Goonie ?………………………………….Isn`t Dembele just a Sanogo upgrade ?
    😆

The thought of Usmanov selling to Kroenke would be disturbing, although he has previously said he wont sell to Kroenke, but times change and so do people………………………………………..also disturbing is that Bindippers have spent £190M on quality and all we have spent is £70M and the quality is questionable with a lot to prove imo !

  50. Goonster says:

You ‘re having a laugh LC dembele is the real deal. On par with mbappe skill wise plus a better and more technical player. He’s the shit man. Before his move to barca he was literally the best young player on earth before mbappe broke into the scene and usurp him. Signing him ‘ll be a genius move. God let it be true and I ‘ll give up bing drinking and go to churn often.

  51. Cicero says:

Just for once wouldn’t it be nice if the club could be open upfront with it’s fans. If they know for a fact that Gazidis is, or not, leaving why can’t they let us in on the secret?

  52. Le Coq Monster says:

That good, Goonie ?……………………………………………….if true then I`ll give up church and start drinking !

    😆

  53. Le Coq Monster says:

Come on Goonie !…………………………where`s the proof of the tweet ?…………………………………..or have them tykes put something in your drink ?

    😆

  54. Goonster says:

There you go LC it’s everywhere now on Twitter. Whoa that escalated quickly. Apparently him (dembele) don’t see eye to eye with valverde the barca manager hence the acquisition of malcom.

  55. Le Coq Monster says:

Goonie, that link only brings up something in spanish about Malcolm !…………………………………nothing on newsnow about Dembele !……………………………are you guessing that the Malcolm addition means Dembele`s exit ?……………………..I can see the reasoning behind that but doesn`t mean it will be Arsenal as the initial rumour at the beginning of the window was that we only had £70M to spend and we are at that now !………………………………so the the only way we will be able to afford Dembele is if you sell up your Porn and drugs business and give the proceeds to the other Stan !…………………………….I have it on good authority that Stan has never had his wig searched by Denver US Customs ! 😆
    😆 😆

  56. Goonster says:

Lol LC for real kike marin did tweet about dembele to arsenal. Arsenal Twitter went berserk and why do people keep believing we have only 50m to spend and can’t afford dembele??? We just spent 120m on 2 strikers in the past 2 Windows didn’t we??? Remember what gazidis said ” those who know don’t speak and those who speak don’t know “we can and should sign dembele that ‘ll send a fear down the spine of our would be contenders for the epl. Come on you fucking gooners 😁😁😁😁night all.
