Bergkamp set to join Henry at Arsenal & Gloves are off!!

Morning Gooners,

After a hard fought 3 points earned at the weekend, many fans are obviously still feeling a sense of relief. Supporters a boost. Players must be relieved and dispte it being ‘only’ Aston Villa, nothing can take away our victory eh.

We know that The Arsenal are not at their best but we did have majority of the possession and we did press them for most of this game.

We needed 3 points, we got just that!

Going off at a tangent, I watched Swansea take on Bradford city in the final of the Capital One cup on Sunday. Both sides have beaten us this season but for some reason I was hoping the underdogs Bradford City would win, but Swansea Town proved worthy champions in the end.

I was a little surprised at some of the referee decisions during that day though, before the cup final I watched Manchester City against Chelsea when Joe Hart was adjudged to have fouled one of Chelsea’s players . The ref awarded the penalty but he only brandished a yellow card. Lampard’s spot kick was saved very well by Joe Hart managed and with the score at 0-0, that save was probably crucial and influential on the final result.

However, in the cup final, the Bradford City goalkeeper was adjudged for fouling one of Swansea’s players and the referee awarded the penalty quite rightly. However, on top of that, he branded a red card! On came a reserve keeper but he couldn’t keep the penalty out.

Funny how decisions made by the refs can vary so much, no wonder we all struggle to understand them isn’t it.

Anyway, next up is Tottenham and their players have started the banter already.

Gareth Bale the 3rd best player in the world according to The Sun, has told them exclusively that Tottenham are now the best club in North London. I was a little surprised that Bale didn’t say all of London!! He also revealed his secrets on what he calls his devastating free kicks . He states he practices them all the time and the secret is that he puts his wall at nine yards instead of ten so it makes it easier on match days.

Now that is an exclusive Welsh international secret so we have been warned!!

Gareth Bale is on fire right now, he has scored a few goals, most of which are the only reason Tottenham are where they are, bit like RvP for us last season, not that the press write that about Bale do they??

Adebayor has also had a word to say about us, well doesn’t he always? This time he says he’s going to make sure he puts Arsenal where they deserve to be, behind the club he turns out for. Oh well, if he’s ‘up for it’ like he was during our home game, maybe he’ll see red again, that would be nice eh!

Then yesterday, Scott Parker joined in, he reckons that Bale’s last ditch winner on Monday night will have deflated all the Arsenal players who would have been upbeat thinking they had dropped two points. He actually reckons that that could be the goal and points to give them the edge in the Champions League race…

Well maybe, maybe not. If our squad is up for the fight, that could make them more determined, they certainly should be!

The boss has always had so much belief in me from a young age, but we haven’t won anything for a long time now, so we want to pay him back by winning something.

If we don’t perform he always takes it back on himself, but at times it is not fair because we are the players that go out there and do it.

He definitely let’s us know when we are not performing, though, which is the right way to do it.

And there is no better time to start performing if they couldn’t be bothered to do so before is there?

A victory against that lot down the road will bring a huge smile to many a Gooner’s face

Jokes aside, Tottenham have been ahead of us for some time this season although we are pulling them back they do have a habit of getting in front of us, there problem is staying there. Ten points last year and we still had our St Totts Day and I expect the same anniversary this season as well.

Welsh people have had their successes Swansea have won the Capital one cup Katherine Zeta Jones snared a multi millionaire and Garaeth Roberts is still in Dancing on ice, so stranger things have happened but this trend has got to stop and at the Lane where better to stop it.

Tottenham have been getting a good few results and they are still in Europe, they feel that this could be their year and confidence is high so they need bring back down to earth with a good hiding and that will come at the lane on Sunday.

Chelsea reject AVB must be feeling confident so lets make it quite clear who is the best in North London on Sunday.

Even on a bad day we can still shut that lot up!!

Finally, and about time too, a statue of Dennis Bergkamp is soon to join others, including the great Thierry Henry, outside The Emirates stadium. For a sneak preview of what Dennis will look like click here

See, we did once have great players……..

Have a good day .

    Morning all…

    Good post Sp, ….

Great to see DB back, as Lee said earlier, it’s about time too! Now to get the real one on the coaching staff!!

  2. allezkev says:

    Morning Gooners.
    Morning Rico.

    Monster Monster Sir Stevo.
With one hand on your fishing tackle and one hand on your pen, you have done it again. Top post.

What a fantastic statue of DB10…
Now we want him back on the coaching staff.

  3. topa'ts says:

The masthead was quite off the story.

However it would be good to have the invisible legends back in the dressing room to inpart the fighting spirit in the lads.

  4. Lewis says:

    Good day Housers.

Great post SP! With all the furoar over the spuds at the moment you’d thik they were challenging for the league. They are not and the gap is only 4 points, which shows their season has been just as inconsistent as ours. Having watched them on monday it was plain to see they have a poor defence like ours and can be got at very easily. On the other hand they do have bale, close him down at every opportunity and attack with purpose I expect we will leave with the points. Well we better anyway, if we have another big game where the team don’t turn up for the first half then being ‘disappointed’ won’t quite cover it for me.

Our players need to finally stand up and be counted, most I’d say are playing for their Arsenal futures.

Great Statue of DB10! What a leg end, when will he be back???

  5. frednerk says:

Lot of talk about us and spuds regarding 4th,
but I’am not sure if chelski can hang about up in the top four,
it would be some sort of justice don’t you think,
if us and spuds contest the top four.

  6. Mike says:

spurs fan coming here in peace. Really looking forward to the game as they are always brilliant. they can go either way but what I love most is that when we play each other tactics seem to go out the window and it’s full on end to end stuff! Love to see us both up there fighting for second/third spot as I believe chelsea and Man c will bottle it. You guys don’t. Fact. You always come good against all the odds. hoping for a great game and I like many other spurs supporters know in our hearts , that you could and might turn us over.

  7. bradster says:

    Hi all,

Month end and financial year end so busy busy.
I’d love a win on their turf but happy with a draw to fight another day.
We’ve contained Ronaldo before and beaten Barca so I’m sure we can contain Bale. More worried about Defoe, Holtby and Dempsey. All seem to score against us in games past. At least Defoe will be ring rusty. Guess we need to soak up the pressure and catch them on the break.

  8. allezkev says:

I’m just glad that our player’s aren’t getting involved in the pre-match verbals, for a change….
Leave it to the Spuds ‘mouth off’…

  9. agirlagunner says:

Good one, SSP. Can’t wait to shut that lot up. I’m happy that our players have kept mum about it. Could never stand how we couldn’t walk the talk. ANd let’s face it, our players loooove to talk to the media.

  10. agirlagunner says:

Lovely weather here, Adam; sunny with blue skies, and windy. 🙂 It’s “Philippines” but “Filipinos”. 🙂

  11. agirlagunner says:

Yes, Pinoy. It’s how we call ourselves, a contraction of Filipino. 😉 Have you met any other Pinoys there, apart from the ladies in tight jeans? 😛

I’m no good with the cold. I tend to just want to stay in. Thailand would be perfect now. You should go. 🙂

  12. Adam says:

Unfortunately not although there are many Filipinos working in the hospitals. There is also a festival every year held in Hyde Park, I think, by the Filipino people. I believe many of the women wear very tight jeans with high heel shoes and drink long pink drinks. 🙂

  13. allezkev says:

I would start Cazorla, Podolski and Walcott as my front three on Saturday…

In midfield Wilshire, Arteta and Rosicky

In dee-fence, it would be Nacho, BFG, Verm and Jenks.

  14. Adam says:

It’s called the Bario Fiesta Sa London I am told.
Ah Thqilqnd. My brother’s son has a penthouse flat there and Mrs Adam wants to go to eat their spicy noodles and Papaya salads.at the moment she has a thing for silky Chinese tops with those nice little round collars. I guess colourful, silky clothes must be big among the Pinoy?
I just read that there are about 120 million of you guys over there. That’s a lot of people. 🙂

  15. agirlagunner says:

Adam, everything in your4 :20 seems about right. There are a loooot of Filipinos everywhere. 🙂 But I hate the ones who pretend they don’t recognize that you’re one or who try to impress you with their embarrassingly posturing fancy accent. Seriously?? Please. You’ve been in Paris what? One year? Yuck.

  16. Adam says:

Agag. Sitting here I had a brief look at the holiday possibilities for a pale-skinned Englishman in your country. Seems there is a lot to do. The sea looks great and there appears to be some nice places to visit .I like a bit of travelling around on holiday and don’t tend to spend too much time on the beach although a bit of snorkelling could be good. It seems very expensive though. Did you find it pricey when you were in Paris and Amsterdam?

  17. George says:

id play kjenks RB and Sagna RW. Id drop Theo and play giroud cazorla Podolski upfront

    Rosicky ~Arteta-Wilshere

Kos and Verm . BFG bench with welshie n co

  18. agirlagunner says:

Barrio Fiesta roughly translates to Small Town Feast. 🙂 It’a also a chain of restos here serving Pinoy food. 🙂 🙂

I try to go to Thailand every other year. It’s my country outside my own. And the Thais have great shopping, the missus would love it. There’s duty free stuff, too. 🙂 🙂

Hiya, shopping buddy. What have you bought recently?? Was pretty chuffed about Madrid beating the Stains, btw. Plus, I quite like it when Cesc doesn’t perform well. 😀

  19. Adam says:

I doubt I could cope with those furry things on a plate that you posted that time Agag. They were weirdness itself. 🙂
    Thailand it might be then.

  20. agirlagunner says:

I think you should go snorkeling in Coron, Palawan. 😀 It’s cheaper than the other fancier places Palawan. The thing about the Phils though is that it’s harder to get around esp. if you are doing the islands down south. But there are budget airlines, not to worry. I like Cebu; never been to Bantayan Island but my friends say it’s stunning.

If you like a little bit of everything (with a wider range of hotel, food, activity choices), maybe Boracay (although I do not like the crowds); my mother’s favorite place in the Phils is Bohol.

  21. Kevin KJ Downton says:

    Evening all – Adam/Fraser 🙂
This is like the dead zone! Anyway, I went on Legrove earlier but never again. Those guys are sociopaths masquerading as Arsenal fans! Had one guy saying he hopes we lose 5 or 6 to the Spuds so wenger gets sacked. I wouldn’t want to lose by 6 if it guaranteed I got laid by two of the most beautiful women on the planet at the same time.

Seriosuly, that forum is full of idiots, loads of Spurs fans pretending to be Gooners, I lost count of how many time that horrible ‘c’ word was used. I can never call Chelsea fans Chavs again..

  22. Adam says:

Cheers Agag. If I go to the Philipines and stay in Manila I shall give you a shout on HH and we can meet for a pink drink. Mrs Adam would love it. :), as long as I limit her to one bottle of champagne. 🙂

  23. Adam says:

Kevin. They do have a forceful way of expressing it but most of them would like to see Wenger to, as would many, many Arsenal fans. I like the Le Grove posts myself but not all of the posters.

  24. agirlagunner says:

Adam, yes, I found Paris quite expensive. But the locals were much nicer than I thought. 😉 Maybe, if you make a great show of struggling with your luggage, they feel compelled to lend a hand. 😀 😀 Amsterdam was more manageable in terms of expenses. I quite loved Amsterdam. Very gezellig. 😉

KJ, rico started blogging in LG, she says. I never took to it, so much testosterone from the bloggers and so little sense. 😉

  25. George says:

Its definately year end finance month end and I suspect a few of us are swimming in it at work..

As for Le Grove it is pony…

  26. Kevin KJ Downton says:

agag – Hee.Totally agree about the testosterone and little sense. As a member of the fairer sex, you don’t have those issues…….

I cannot see the point of joining a forum just to have the same Wenger out rant every day. How sad is that, like belonging to a gang. Some of the rubbish as well, factually incorrect nonsense but they all believe it. If you disagree, you dont get sensible debate you get abused and they all join in. I guess that reflects where we are socially nowadays. 🙂

I am ashamed to say that is an Arsenal forum, the rival fans must be in hysterics and I bet Adrian Durham is on there stirring them into a frenzy, they seem to believe anything.

  27. agirlagunner says:

Good night, Adam. Happy cooking. rico, where are you??

George the articles in LG aren’t half bad. But the vitriol there, oh my!!

  28. allezkev says:

No Shopping Bud, I have been well behaved…

What about you, have you had a moment or two of weakness, when a pair of shoes and matching handbag have whispering ‘Buy Me, Buy Me’ into your ear???
    😉

  29. agirlagunner says:

KJ, 😀 Some bloggers here have allegedly been subject to much abuse there because they have defended AW/our players. I agree there is plenty to be dissatisfied about in our club. But we are not nearly as bad as some people would have us believe. In any case, blogging is a form of unwinding for me; I wouldn’t go where I’d feel wound up, instead. 😉

I am glad that Durham isn’t on here. 😀 He’s hateful from all accounts; and he writes unmitigated rubbish.

  30. agirlagunner says:

Oh, those voices. They’re always whispering sweet nothings. Always. 😆 No new shoes, AK. 🙁 🙁 Not to pre-empt anything, but I’ll buy myself a good pair after we shall have beaten Bayern.

I haven’t bought a bag in two years. 😉 These days, I wait for hand me downs. Haha.

  31. Kevin KJ Downton says:

George and Agag – Agree. Legrove is a plain embarrassment and simply there for those who do not understand the harm they are doing to our club. Things don’t go some peoples way, they scream like babies don’t they. Selfish, living for today culture.

  32. allezkev says:

KJ Le Grove was the first Arsenal blog that I began reading, but never joined in the debate.
As soon I came on HH, I was drawn in by Rico & Agag, almost as if they were sitting me down and making me a sandwich and a cup of tea.
The rest, as they say, is history…
From football I have moved onto discussing food, wine, holidays, shopping, curry’s, cricket, rugby, the erection of concret posts, GoonerStan’s love life, chickens, watches and a million other things…

  33. agirlagunner says:

Hahaha, AK. 🙂 You forgot to mention pillows and duvets. 😛

KJ, we cover everything here. Everything. Have you met our self-styled Lothario, Goonerstan? Devil loves to toy with him. He’s quite a character.

  34. rico says:

    Evening peeps, what’s news?

G’joe, using the ‘c’ word sends comments into spam, it’s one of very few rules here on HH

  35. Scott from Oz says:

    Good morning all.
We have just arrived at the airport, heading down south to Melbourne for some r & r.
Rico, there is another rule…..i am never right…ask Wath 🙂
    How is everyone today?

  36. Scott from Oz says:

Oh, and Dennis is the best Arsenal player of all time, in my humble opinion.
Well, i should say the best i have seen.

  37. rico says:

Have to agree there Adam. Mind you, Gervinho could end up pipping them both in years to come.

Sir Bobby and Freddie are another two favs of mine under Wenger….

  38. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Kev – Agag sounds lovely. I like nice people, unfortunately there are some complete idiots following our club and claiming to speak for us. Doubt you could sit down and have a nice cosy chat with that aggressive bunch.

Rico – excellent to hear that horrid word is filtered out, especially with such lovely ladies present. That curry was perfect by the way, a tad hot but I am finally getting the hang of making restaurant style curries. Just don’t use those naga’s!

  39. Adam says:

Sounds lovely Rico. Did you cook them down and then liquidise them with some stock? Any spices or just a touch of seasoning?

  40. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Adam – don’t underestimate the value Pat Vieira brought to our team. What a player he was. Put Roy Keane in his pocket and kept him there. Bergkamp, Henry, Vieira and Robbie Pires, what great days they were.

  41. Adam says:

KJ. There are always caveats to any “best” player discussion. PV couldn’t do what Dennis did and vice versa. How can the man who bought Henry buy Gervinho? One of life’s mysteries I suppose.

  42. rico says:

Exactly the reason it’s banned Kj…

I did see the result Adam. Jose must be pleased. Maybe he should sort us out, then we too could beat Barca?

  43. rico says:

We did, but we had Batman back then….

I actually don’t believe that Jose would be good long term for us, but then I didn’t want Pep either.

Guess I don’t really know what I am on about 😉

  44. Gonerjoe says:

I see we have 10 days off after the spurs game before we have to face Bayern again maybe they can use that time to teach Sz how to deal with shoots from out side the box. I see that Bayern have spent €116m in the last 3 years on players and not won a trophy I know it looks like they will win the league in Germany this year.

  45. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Rico – Nobody should like it, it is not just you. Whats happenning in this world of ours that people use ‘that’ word so often? Those using that word should hold their heads in shame, there really is no excuse, especially in front of ladies. 🙂

  46. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Gonerjoe- great point about Bayern, a club in the top 4 income generators with Manure, Real and Barca.

What about these: Spurs 52 years since a top league title, Liverpool 22 years. Never hear that repeated every day like our 8 years mantra. What is a crisis, I suppose it is all relative.

  47. Kevin KJ Downton says:

Ps: Yes Shezzer needs a bigger pair of gloves for sure. Not his fault though, he needs an experienced keeper to help him learn his trade. Too much pressure on the lad and he is starting to show it. Could you imagine a three nil win in Germany….

  48. Gonerjoe says:

Talking of managers I’d like to see replace Mr Wenger would be the manager of Malaga Manuel Pellegrini. But I still thick that Wenger should get more time.

  49. Adam says:

Hi Stan. Not really. Everybody is building up the game against Spurs as some kind of turning point but there are no signs that we are actually getting our game together. It’s a slug-fest for 4th place. How’s married life?

  50. goonster says:

humph, we ll smash them spuddies…….the lads ll be up for this one. bale ll be caged. santi and jack the lad to run the show. am more relaxed than the fleas on fergusc*unt sparce chest hair! Come on you fucking guners! come on! yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

  51. Adam says:

How about Tony Adams as cultural attaché Rico? We could have a management collective. We might even have Steve Bould to do the defensive coaching. 🙂

  52. goonster says:

howdy maam, me prince charming? no way, more like shrek. cassie has ruined me. hey adam i ve lost my pout too!

  53. rico says:

😉 Adam. Not fussed who really, as long as they know how to teach defending. But then again, by then, we might have a few defenders on board ….

Just kidding you Goonie…. Married life good then?

  54. Adam says:

    Not the Goonster pout?
Stan, affix your great Dutch lips to a sheet of glass for a half hour a day and it will return I am sure.

  55. goonster says:

hahahahahhahah adam stop it already……….you re gonna make me pee in my pants! maam, married life sucks. i keep waking up next to her in the morning and its creeping me out……and someone please tell her i like my space, i mean i enjoy watching a woman pee bit not for the 100th time and not when am taking a shower! jeez.

  56. Adam says:

Goonie. You are obviously a cultured man. As she is doing it attach your lips to the shower screen and form a suction cup with them. She may well find that disturbing enough to wait until you free yourself before she relieves herself.
    Just a thought.

  57. rico says:

Fairy Snuff Adam. Me, I’d like a a manager who won’t just breeze in and out and spend all our cash – a man who cares about Arsenal first and foremost….

But most importantly, a man who wants to do that and win a trophy or two along the way.

A bit like Arsene when he first joined us…..

Jose isn’t that man imho, he’s a short and sweet fix, just like he has been at Real Madrid….

  58. Adam says:

I think he has done that stuff and would like to build something more permanent. We will never see another manager stay as long as Wenger or have as much power. I hope.
Anyway, I am off for the night. Night, night Rico and Stan.

  59. goonster says:

i ll take diego simeone maam, he’s doing a marvelous job at athletico with limited funds. he’s young hungry and a hit with the ladies. if we can only get the fucker to speak english!

  60. allezkev says:

    Sorry I missed ya Stan….

Married life seems to suit you, you are very calm these days.

When are we going to hear the patter of tiny feet…

Stanley junior does have a certain ring to it…

Stanetta if you have a girl, of course…

Adam will, I’m sure, agree to be GodFather…

I predict a brace from Jack.

Laudrup with DB10 as assistant, or the other way around would be just as sweet. Plenty of dosh to spend. The future is looking bright 💡
